- 0:01ABBY LEE MILLER (VOICEOVER): Previously on "Dance Moms."
- 0:02Line up, soldiers.
- 0:03I don't think some of you want to be here,
- 0:04and I certainly don't think any of you work hard enough.
- 0:08I can't believe you were tattle-telling
- 0:09on a seven-year-old.
- 0:11People know how my child dances.
- 0:12Do you really think anyone who goes to the dance competition
- 0:15knows how your child dances?
- 0:16ABBY LEE MILLER: Kendall, you're chasing her.
- 0:19Second place, entry number 74, "Free the People."
- 0:22Sometimes you have nothing intelligent to say.
- 0:24You should just be quiet.
- 0:25ABBY LEE MILLER: So today, you will
- 0:26be voting on Maddie or Chloe.
- 0:28Maddie wins.
- 0:30ABBY LEE MILLER (VOICEOVER): Coming up on "Dance Moms."
- 0:32We're getting beat by teachers that I've never even heard
- 0:34of before. - Here it comes.
- 0:35Whoo.
- 0:36But it's not funny or cute to throw a kid on stage
- 0:38and them not be warmed up.
- 0:39I have been officially invited to be on "The View."
- 0:42[applause]
- 0:45My foot doesn't hurt anymore.
- 0:46And?
- 0:47It's about this whole charade. Don't let her rehearse.
- 0:49- What charade? - The charade about the foot.
- 0:51What the [bleep] is wrong with the foot?
- 0:52I want to know where the miracle came from, because--
- 0:55She rested.
- 0:56Don't take it out on me that Abby pulled your kid
- 0:58from a dance.
- 0:59Why don't you call the [bleep] doctor and ask him?
- 1:01[MUSIC - NIKKO LOWE, "LIVING ON THE DANCE FLOOR"]
- 1:03Get up.
- 1:04Get on the floor.
- 1:06My world is with my girls living on the dance floor.
- 1:13[music continuing]
- 1:17ABBY LEE MILLER: Let's go. Let's go.
- 1:18Let's go.
- 1:19Come on, girls.
- 1:20Get in here.
- 1:21On the presidential campaign, this means peace.
- 1:24But here at Abby League Dance Company, it means seconds.
- 1:27Not only are we getting beat by Kathy's brilliant team
- 1:31of imports, we're getting beat by teachers that I've never
- 1:35even heard of before.
- 1:37We were the losers.
- 1:38ALDC lost again, two weeks in a row.
- 1:42How are we going to recover?
- 1:45How are these dancers going to get better?
- 1:47How do they improve in a week?
- 1:50Put the effort forth.
- 1:51You get out what you put in.
- 1:53All right, I want to get to the pyramid.
- 1:56First, I have Mackenzie.
- 1:58You didn't dance.
- 1:59Next, Paige.
- 2:01That flag was a symbol for everybody in that audience.
- 2:06[music playing]
- 2:12Don't do a disservice to this country.
- 2:16Abby puts Paige at the bottom of the pyramid
- 2:18because she held the flag upside down the wrong way.
- 2:22That's why we didn't win, because Paige
- 2:23held the flag the wrong way.
- 2:25And next, Kendall.
- 2:28We've worked on your facial expressions.
- 2:30They've improved.
- 2:31We've worked on your stamina.
- 2:33That's getting there.
- 2:35Now focus.
- 2:37Wherever your eyes go, that's where the judges' eyes go.
- 2:40You can't watch Maddie like a member of the audience.
- 2:45And next I have Brooke.
- 2:48Brooke, during rehearsal, you did an outstanding job.
- 2:51Then we get on stage and you go right by Asia and the flag
- 2:55and then you have to wait four counts.
- 2:58You have to think on stage.
- 3:01Chloe.
- 3:02Chloe, you did a solo.
- 3:04You did a nice job.
- 3:05You were second only to Maddie.
- 3:07Corrections.
- 3:08Hyperextending the elbows.
- 3:10Not lengthening the back of the knee.
- 3:12You can fix all of those things, but you have to want to.
- 3:17And next, Nia.
- 3:19You did an outstanding job.
- 3:20I thought you looked good in the group.
- 3:22I noticed you in the group.
- 3:23I also noticed that you were smart
- 3:25and you figured out you couldn't live Asia until she got there.
- 3:29Finally Abby notices Nia.
- 3:31She's making it to the middle of the pyramid.
- 3:33That's a good thing.
- 3:35And next.
- 3:37Asia, you won the overall high score in the petite division.
- 3:42I think that you're a little firecracker,
- 3:45and I think you step on stage and you cause an explosion.
- 3:48So Asia's number 2.
- 3:50I'll take the 2 for this time, as long as she doesn't drop
- 3:53lower than that.
- 3:54And on top of the pyramid.
- 3:57Maddie, you were the overall high scorer
- 4:00of the junior division.
- 4:01And in first place, entry number 30, "I'm Trying."
- 4:04Yeah, Maddie.
- 4:05Whoo-hoo.
- 4:07Your friends voted for you, too.
- 4:09It was a good performance.
- 4:10You are the type of personality that this country was built on.
- 4:15You all know that song "America the Beautiful?"
- 4:17Maddie, you are America the Beautiful.
- 4:19Thank you.
- 4:20You're welcome.
- 4:21People have accused me of playing favorites.
- 4:24Maddie gets what she deserves.
- 4:26She puts in the time.
- 4:27She puts in the energy.
- 4:29She wants it.
- 4:31Why wouldn't she be the favorite?
- 4:33Now, before I get started on this week's assignments,
- 4:35I want to ask Mackenzie where your cast is.
- 4:37You should have an air cast on that foot.
- 4:39My foot doesn't hurt anymore.
- 4:41And?
- 4:43What's your doctor's excuse?
- 4:44Did you go to the doctor again?
- 4:46No.
- 4:47I mean, yeah.
- 4:48No, you did not, Kenz.
- 4:49You didn't go back to the doctor.
- 4:51Tell her exactly what the doctor told you.
- 4:54He said that it's OK to dance.
- 4:56And how did he look at your foot again?
- 4:58He didn't.
- 5:00So over the phone?
- 5:01He said that she has to rest it until it feels 100%.
- 5:04She knows her own body.
- 5:06She knows her own body?
- 5:07She can't even create a sentence to answer me with.
- 5:11I'm sorry.
- 5:12The doctor said two weeks and I don't feel comfortable
- 5:15going against his wishes.
- 5:17It has not been two weeks.
- 5:19I don't want Mackenzie dancing because she's eight years old.
- 5:22She's little.
- 5:23Those tiny, little bones in her feet are fragile.
- 5:26And Mackenzie has the potential to go the distance in her dance
- 5:30career.
- 5:32I don't want to do something now that's going to prevent her
- 5:34from having a career further down the line.
- 5:37Let's talk about this week.
- 5:38We are headed to Energy Dance Competition in Youngstown,
- 5:42Ohio.
- 5:43I'm sure that Kathy is going to be there.
- 5:45I'm sure her boy group will be back in full force.
- 5:49But I'm really not too concerned with Kathy.
- 5:51I'm worried about the other studios in Youngstown, Ohio.
- 5:54The group number is entitled to "Hear No Evil."
- 5:57Everyone is in it, except Mackenzie and Maddie.
- 6:01Maddie, you will not be dancing with the group in the group
- 6:05routine.
- 6:06You will be assisting me with the choreography.
- 6:10I don't think the rest of the group is as serious as Maddie.
- 6:13They just say, well, Maddie will figure out the counts.
- 6:15Maddie will know the music.
- 6:17So I want to teach them a lesson.
- 6:19They all need to be the leaders.
- 6:20They all need to know what's going on.
- 6:23Maddie, you will be doing a solo.
- 6:25The name of your solo is "They'll Never Change."
- 6:30Asia, you will be performing a duet with Nia.
- 6:34[applause]
- 6:36The name of your routine is "Move You Too."
- 6:40And Asia, I'm expecting my little firecracker
- 6:43to light Nia up.
- 6:46We're going to get Nia moving faster, jumping higher.
- 6:50Nia, when Asia's leg is up here, her leg better be up there.
- 6:55You can't be any less than Asia is on stage.
- 7:00It's going to be hard for anyone dancing with Asia
- 7:02to match her energy, but Nia can hold her own,
- 7:05and she can definitely bring it to the dance floor.
- 7:07I think Nia will be just fine dancing with Asia.
- 7:10I have one more solo.
- 7:12It's going to Chloe.
- 7:13It's contemporary.
- 7:15And the name of the routine is "About Mother."
- 7:18Moms, you are dismissed.
- 7:20Ladies, spread apart.
- 7:26I'm taking you out of that group because I think
- 7:28they're dragging you down.
- 7:29And if you had a bunch of people to dance with that were
- 7:30on your level that wanted it, you would be first place
- 7:32all the time.
- 7:33You have to worry about you, understand?
- 7:36Maddie's solo is called "They'll Never Change."
- 7:39Who is she referring to in "they?"
- 7:42I don't know.
- 7:43Maybe the other girls in the group.
- 7:46Maybe they're not going to change.
- 7:47Maybe they're not going to try to work harder.
- 7:49Or maybe it's the other moms.
- 7:51Maybe they'll never change and they'll always
- 7:54be jealous of Maddie.
- 7:56I think if Abby thinks that Maddie is so much more mature
- 7:59then Maddie should move up to the senior group.
- 8:01That's exactly-- then what's she doing dancing the weekends,
- 8:03week after week after week if they're holding her back.
- 8:04KELLY: Exactly. Move her out of our group.
- 8:06If Abby thinks that Maddie is too good for this group,
- 8:09pull her.
- 8:10Have her dance with your seniors.
- 8:12We don't need her.
- 8:13[music playing]
- 8:14On your left.
- 8:158, 4, 5.
- 8:18Maddie is demonstrating this week because she's not
- 8:21such a second place performer.
- 8:23She's a winner.
- 8:24She's a champion.
- 8:25She's an artist.
- 8:26She wants to do this 24/7.
- 8:28It's totally unrealistic and illogical to make it
- 8:33so that Maddie is the only one that has goals, aspirations,
- 8:37and everyone else--
- 8:38And talent.
- 8:39And talent and ambition.
- 8:48The group routine is entitled "Hear No Evil."
- 8:51It's going to be a challenge for the girls.
- 8:52The music is difficult to count to.
- 8:55So I'm going to pull their leader, the one
- 8:58with the great musicality, out of the group
- 9:01and see how they handle it.
- 9:05Every one of these girls need to be the Maddie.
- 9:08Melissa, are you comfortable with Maddie
- 9:11being the assistant choreographer of our group?
- 9:13I heard her say she's going to be assisting.
- 9:17Yeah, don't be calling her assistant choreographer.
- 9:19What is the difference between choreographing and assistant
- 9:22choreographer?
- 9:23What's the difference?
- 9:24And it really doesn't make a difference to me
- 9:26if Abby pulls Maddie out of the group dance.
- 9:28I mean, Abby tells us every week that Maddie is so much better
- 9:30than our girls, so take her out of the group then.
- 9:34Asia.
- 9:36But I have to say, I know these girls have been dancing
- 9:39together for a long time, but I don't know.
- 9:41Does she pick up choreography fast?
- 9:44Right here in rehearsal, she might be--
- 9:46Oh, I know what you're saying.
- 9:47Yeah, but on stage, it comes together.
- 9:49Asia isn't keeping up well with this group.
- 9:51They're a well-oiled machine.
- 9:53Asia's new to the group.
- 9:55She's several years younger than most of them
- 9:57and she's half their size.
- 9:59It's not a good fit.
- 10:00So what happens when Kenzie's put in a group?
- 10:02Is she behind the choreography with the older girls
- 10:04because she's small, or you're--
- 10:07Not wrong, not off, not slower, but the timing.
- 10:11Speaking of Mackenzie, I have a question.
- 10:14What changed with Mackenzie that now she's 100% ready to go?
- 10:18Because her foot feels better.
- 10:19Either Mackenzie really wasn't that hurt to begin with
- 10:22or she's really still hurt now.
- 10:24But one way or the other, you're lying.
- 10:27This is what the doctor said to me, Christi.
- 10:30Kenzie can dance when she feels 100% confident in her foot.
- 10:34She knows her body.
- 10:35You have been going on and on and on for weeks
- 10:37that she can't dance, she can dance, she can't dance.
- 10:39But she rested for a whole week doing literally nothing.
- 10:42A week really isn't that long to rest.
- 10:45Well, you know what?
- 10:46Mackenzie feels better and she's fine.
- 10:54[phone ringing]
- 10:55Hello?
- 10:55It's Teresa.
- 10:56I got some really super, exciting news for you.
- 11:09[laughs]
- 11:12That is crazy.
- 11:17Oh my god. Oh my god.
- 11:18I want to sit next to Whoopie.
- 11:19I am so excited to be going to "The View."
- 11:22But me sitting there next to them,
- 11:24I'm a little bit nervous about that.
- 11:37I am super stoked about my kids performing on "The View."
- 11:41Come on, that is amazing advertisement for my studio.
- 11:46I'm guest-hosting "The View."
- 11:48[laughs]
- 11:52She's wooing, whooping, and hollering.
- 11:54[wooing]
- 11:55She's distracted by a phone call.
- 11:57I think Abby calls a 900 number, I swear to God.
- 12:01I need everybody in studio A. Everybody, come on.
- 12:06I have a big announcement to make.
- 12:09I just got a phone call and I have been officially
- 12:12invited to be a guest host on "The View."
- 12:16[cheering]
- 12:19Oh, oh my god.
- 12:23So I will be hosting the entire hour of "The View."
- 12:27I think Abby can hold her own, but I am a little bit worried
- 12:30about what's going to come out of her mouth.
- 12:32Of course, I am going to have the Abby Lee Dance Company
- 12:36competition team, one of our winning group routines
- 12:38perform on "The View."
- 12:40[applause]
- 12:45Excited?
- 12:45Yes.
- 12:47I'm excited to go to New York.
- 12:48This is a great opportunity for the girls to be on "The View."
- 12:52As far as the moms go, if Abby doesn't want the moms to go,
- 12:54I love to shop in New York.
- 12:56So I'm excited.
- 12:58So next week, we will be traveling to New York City.
- 13:01[applause]
- 13:03Unfortunately, the lady from "The View"
- 13:05said I need to submit the routine that they're
- 13:07going to be performing tonight.
- 13:10So we need to do something that is exciting
- 13:13and something that lets people think.
- 13:16You like that one?
- 13:17That's beautiful.
- 13:19I'm excited about co-hosting "The View," but you know what?
- 13:21There is no rest for the weary.
- 13:23We still have a big competition this weekend.
- 13:26We need to perfect the group number and get the solos ready.
- 13:29All right, spread apart. Let's go.
- 13:31Let's go.
- 13:31Let's go.
- 13:33I want to know how long this happiness will last for Abby.
- 13:36That's big news, so that means she'll
- 13:38ride that high for, I don't know, the rest of the night
- 13:40would be nice.
- 13:42It's one thing being a guest, but she's an actual host.
- 13:44- I know. - Come on.
- 13:45Let's go from the top, Maddie.
- 13:46You ready?
- 13:47[MUSIC - WE THE COMMITTEE, "THIS WON'T END QUIETLY"]
- 13:49You told me we were fighters, fighters.
- 13:54Watch with the knuckles when you push forward, Chloe.
- 13:56The group can win without Maddie.
- 13:58It should win without Maddie.
- 14:00The problem is they rely on Maddie.
- 14:02Girls, you need to step up to the plate.
- 14:05You need to listen to the music.
- 14:07And you're not.
- 14:08You're letting Maddie do the work.
- 14:10Kendall and Brooke obviously were doing a different time
- 14:14and they felt they were right, and the other people
- 14:17were way ahead.
- 14:18They kept going because they thought they were right.
- 14:20Maddie, who did you think was right?
- 14:24All right, let's go again.
- 14:25Maddie told me she's happy and sad about assisting.
- 14:29She said she loves doing it, but she's sad
- 14:32because she wants to be in the dance
- 14:33and she doesn't want any of her friends to get angry with her.
- 14:36Melissa, do you think that Maddie
- 14:38is uncomfortable with Abby leaving her
- 14:39in charge of her friends?
- 14:41Yeah.
- 14:42She said that she's happy and sad at the same time.
- 14:44Do you think Maddie misses being in a group
- 14:46dance this week? - Absolutely.
- 14:48Whatever Abby wants her to do, you
- 14:49know she's going to listen to that.
- 14:51Is Mackenzie frustrated after the pyramid
- 14:53yesterday, because Abby has been doing absolutely nothing again
- 14:56this week and she feels like she can dance.
- 14:59Melissa said that Mackenzie had to be off of her foot, doctor's
- 15:03orders, for two weeks.
- 15:05And I don't think Melissa really thought that Abby was going
- 15:08to take her for her work, and two weeks is two weeks.
- 15:14I went round and round with some of the numbers
- 15:16and I think that we should do "The Last Text" for "The View."
- 15:26I think that it's an important piece,
- 15:29and I think we have a message to send out to all the viewers.
- 15:38All I need you to do is a roundoff back
- 15:40handspring to that corner and fall to the ground.
- 15:43What number is this?
- 15:45It's called "The Final Text?"
- 15:46HOLLY: "The Last Text."
- 15:47KRISTIE RAY: What is Asia doing?
- 15:48Replacing Mackenzie, it looks like,
- 15:50but she won't let Kenzie dance.
- 15:52Mackenzie is not dancing right now
- 15:54and we need to rehearse this routine, so
- 15:56why wouldn't I put Asia in the number?
- 16:00JILL: She doesn't dance.
- 16:01She does a roundoff back handspring and done.
- 16:02CHRISTI: Back handspring and done.
- 16:04Oh my gosh.
- 16:05So do you think Abby won't let her dance?
- 16:07Well, maybe it's just for rehearsal.
- 16:08We'll see.
- 16:10I mean, I think Asia could be a backup for Mackenzie,
- 16:12but she's not a team member.
- 16:15Mackenzie is a team member.
- 16:17Well, Mackenzie is injured, right?
- 16:19She was. You saw her crying.
- 16:20OK, but she's better now.
- 16:21I want to know where the miracle came from because--
- 16:24She rested.
- 16:25- OK. - Please.
- 16:26It's really none of your concern.
- 16:28She's not in the dance so be happy, because that's
- 16:30what you want. - No, that's not true.
- 16:31Absolutely it is.
- 16:33Melissa made such a big deal about Mackenzie can't dance.
- 16:35She's crying in pain.
- 16:37It hurts so bad.
- 16:38Now all of a sudden the girls are dancing on "The View"
- 16:40and Mackenzie had a miraculous recovery.
- 16:43It just doesn't jive.
- 16:44She's fine.
- 16:45Ask her yourself.
- 16:45How?
- 16:47Why don't you call the [bleep] doctor and ask him?
- 16:49Don't take it out on me that Abby pulled your kid
- 16:51from a dance, because my kid and the rest of our kids
- 16:53have been listening to Abby talk about how wonderful
- 16:56your children are and your daughter is all week,
- 16:58and we haven't told you to go F yourself.
- 17:01Listen, this is for "The View."
- 17:03Millions and millions of people are watching that.
- 17:06There will be no mistakes.
- 17:14[music playing]
- 17:19KELLY: She's here.
- 17:20Hey.
- 17:20Hi.
- 17:22Hillary.
- 17:23I'm Brooke.
- 17:23Nice to meet you.
- 17:25Oh, look, we got the keyboard all set up.
- 17:27We're ready to go.
- 17:28Brooke loves to sing, and I feel
- 17:30like this is a great opportunity for the girls.
- 17:32I mean, we're going to be on "The View,"
- 17:34and I just feel like while I'm out there in New York City,
- 17:36I want to take advantage of this and have Brooke go meet
- 17:40with a music producer and have her, you know,
- 17:42see about doing another song.
- 17:43So before we go, I want to have Brooke
- 17:46meet with a vocal teacher and have her have a lesson
- 17:48so when we go to New York, she is completely prepared.
- 17:52I just keep telling her this, being in dance,
- 17:55she has a lot of opportunities to get out there and sing.
- 17:58Absolutely, 100%.
- 17:59Of course.
- 18:00You already have an audience to your dance.
- 18:02You opened that door for being a fantastic dancer,
- 18:05and now you can branch out and do other things as well.
- 18:08The hardest part is being a person who will work hard,
- 18:12and you're a hard worker.
- 18:13And so you apply that to your singing,
- 18:15you're going to get stuff out of it.
- 18:23How are you doing?
- 18:25You have to go this weekend.
- 18:26If I leave you at home and you dance all weekend,
- 18:29what if you get hurt again and you're not good for New York
- 18:31City?
- 18:32Then Asia's going to be doing "The View."
- 18:34Like right now, Asia is rehearsing your spot.
- 18:38This is Mackenzie's number, "The Last Text."
- 18:41She deserves to be in the number.
- 18:50You know, Asia just came up to me
- 18:51and she goes, oh, I'm rehearsing the group thing for "The View,"
- 18:54but Kenzie had Maddie tell me that I was out of it
- 18:57because she's perfectly fine.
- 18:59But wait, why would Maddie go and tell her that?
- 19:01That's not her job.
- 19:02Well, that's what I told her.
- 19:03I said, Asia, I said just wait.
- 19:04It's Abby's decision, not Melissa's.
- 19:06- Yeah. - This is her team.
- 19:07It's not Asia's team.
- 19:08I understand, but then let's compete.
- 19:11If Mackenzie can't compete, then she can't do "The View."
- 19:14I know you want to dance.
- 19:15I know.
- 19:17OK.
- 19:19I don't think Mackenzie should be taken out of the dance.
- 19:21Mackenzie does a roundoff back handspring.
- 19:23That's all she does, so she needs to let Mackenzie dance.
- 19:27Tell me, what did you learn from the whole Maddie/Chloe
- 19:31thing?
- 19:32Maddie, Maddie, Maddie.
- 19:35Take that sadness and put it into your dancing.
- 19:39Well, the corrections that Maddie gave me,
- 19:42I'm trying to really use them.
- 19:44The whole voting thing, it should
- 19:46have been five people voting for you
- 19:47and five people voting for Maddie.
- 19:49Like they couldn't decide.
- 19:50So you need to toughen up.
- 19:52You need to get a thick skin, because this business
- 19:56is ruthless.
- 19:57Chloe wants to be a star, a celebrity.
- 19:59She wants to sign autographs.
- 20:01That is not making her a better dancer.
- 20:03All of those things need to be put on hold until her dancing
- 20:07is to the level that it should be.
- 20:09[music playing]
- 20:17I'm actually really surprised that Abby is giving Chloe
- 20:20a solo again this week after the whole voting
- 20:22mishap in the dressing room.
- 20:24I think what really hurt Chloe more than anything was the fact
- 20:27that her peers, whom she respects, voted against her.
- 20:30So I'm really glad that Chloe has a chance
- 20:32to go out and redeem herself.
- 20:34Do you know what this is about?
- 20:35It's about all that we've been through together.
- 20:38It's about mother, everything we've been through.
- 20:40Let me tell you about my mama, she's a bitch.
- 20:42[laughter]
- 20:43The dance teacher hates her.
- 20:45That's true.
- 20:47Her partner in crime.
- 20:49I like that Chloe's solo this week is called "About Mother."
- 20:51You know, Abby always tries to make it be a negative thing,
- 20:53but I'm going to look at this as a tribute
- 20:55to my relationship with Chloe, not as a negative thing
- 20:58about our relationship.
- 20:59[music playing]
- 21:00(SINGING) 1, 2, 1, 2, 3, and 4.
- 21:04I've got something to tell you and--
- 21:07Asia and Nia are doing a duet this weekend
- 21:09entitled "Move You Too."
- 21:11Asia has an over the top personality, especially when
- 21:14she steps out on stage.
- 21:16And the only other performer that I think of
- 21:18is a drag queen.
- 21:19They're just that over the top persona.
- 21:22They're bigger than life, and that's what I want Nia to be.
- 21:27Oh, here, Abby's going to do her drag queen walk.
- 21:31She's revving up from head to toe.
- 21:34Mama's in the house.
- 21:35Oh, Lord.
- 21:37Look, she's got her foot beveled.
- 21:39Oh, the head's bopping.
- 21:40Oh, god.
- 21:42The torpedoes are out.
- 21:46Abby loves herself a drag queen dance.
- 21:49Oh, Lord, help us all.
- 21:50Watch out.
- 21:52Everybody get out your mental scrub brush.
- 21:53OK, here she goes.
- 21:55I hope she didn't do that for her date.
- 21:57Oh, the wrists are limp.
- 21:59Oh, gross.
- 22:00Whatever that move is.
- 22:01Here it comes.
- 22:04[laughs]
- 22:07Oh my god.
- 22:08I think she thinks she looks good doing that.
- 22:10I don't think that looks good.
- 22:13ABBY LEE MILLER: Come on.
- 22:15Point those feet.
- 22:19This is going to be a tough duet for Nia this week.
- 22:21Not only does she have to match Asia's facial expressions
- 22:23and her energy, there's an extremely difficult lift
- 22:26in the middle of the dance.
- 22:29Asia, although a small girl, she's muscular
- 22:31and she's no lightweight.
- 22:33Usually, it's Chloe and Maddie,
- 22:36they compete against each other.
- 22:37Asia and Kenzie, they're not competing against each other.
- 22:40They're competing against each other for a spot on "The View,"
- 22:44so yeah, they are competing against each other.
- 22:46I'm really torn who I think should dance in the group dance
- 22:50on "The View."
- 22:51I mean, it's not fair to the group
- 22:53to have them practice with Asia and then at the last second
- 22:56throw in Mackenzie.
- 22:57Mackenzie, is she feeling resentful to Asia?
- 23:00No.
- 23:01Oh, and now Asia is a bully.
- 23:02Is Asia being a bully?
- 23:03No.
- 23:04I want them to resolve this on their own.
- 23:06OK, but I would like to know how my child's being a bully.
- 23:10She dropped a block on Mackenzie,
- 23:12dropped a block on her foot on purpose.
- 23:14I'm like, why would a kid drop a block on her?
- 23:16No, Asia told me that because she knew
- 23:18that's how it would be relayed.
- 23:19She said Kenzie was walking by.
- 23:21When it dropped, when she was picking it up,
- 23:23it didn't drop on Kenzie's foot.
- 23:25It hit the side of her foot.
- 23:27I can say a lot of things about Asia.
- 23:29I really don't think one of them would be that she's a bully.
- 23:34I just think Melissa is trying to think of any excuse
- 23:37to make Asia look bad.
- 23:39My child will not pick up a block
- 23:41and just throw it on someone's foot.
- 23:42Well, I wouldn't think that.
- 23:45Next.
- 23:46Melissa's being passive aggressive about the "bully"
- 23:49comment.
- 23:50I don't know what she's doing, but it makes no sense.
- 23:52I'm not going to argue with stupid.
- 23:53I got to ask you something.
- 23:54Asia came up to me and said the girls told her
- 23:57she's out of the show on "The View" instead of Abby
- 24:00telling her.
- 24:01Abby said Mackenzie was on "The View."
- 24:02OK, well, I wish there was not this whole charade about her
- 24:05rehearsing it and then now not in it.
- 24:07Things change all the time, Kristie.
- 24:09I think it's safe to say that Kristie Ray has two sides.
- 24:12She has the I'm so perfect dance mom side
- 24:17and then she has on the I'm a stage mom bitch.
- 24:19It's not about Asia not being in the group.
- 24:22It's about this whole charade.
- 24:23What charade?
- 24:24The charade about the foot.
- 24:25What [bleep] is wrong with the foot?
- 24:28There's nothing wrong with it now.
- 24:29It's fine.
- 24:30OK, then what's the charade?
- 24:31Compete.
- 24:32She was crying.
- 24:33Get it X-rayed and a doctor's note,
- 24:35with a real doctor's note, with an X-ray with the written,
- 24:37instead of bringing the note and saying two weeks rest.
- 24:39I mean, it gets kind of ridiculous.
- 24:46[music playing]
- 24:49JILL: We're here at the Energy Dance Competition
- 24:52in Youngstown, Ohio, and there are a lot of amazing dancers
- 24:56here.
- 24:58The skill level is set really, really high,
- 25:01so we have to be on our game.
- 25:03We have to be focused.
- 25:04And we have to win.
- 25:09I cannot believe that we are in Youngstown,
- 25:12Ohio and there's no applesauce.
- 25:17[cheering]
- 25:20Thank God Kathy is not coming.
- 25:21This is the best news I've heard all week.
- 25:24Whoa, whoa.
- 25:25Mackenzie, what are you doing?
- 25:28This is hard cement.
- 25:29I need you to get a shoe on.
- 25:30This is the end of two weeks.
- 25:32Like the doctor originally said, the doctor with the iPhone
- 25:36that can see through the phone to your foot
- 25:38and touch it and feel it.
- 25:40Abby still hasn't decided who will be dancing on "The View"
- 25:43yet, whether it's Mackenzie or Asia,
- 25:45but if Melissa wants Mackenzie to dance,
- 25:47she would be wise to tell her to sit down and stay off her foot.
- 25:52Shoulders even.
- 25:53The right arm's as high as the left.
- 25:56When the girls are rehearsing in the green room,
- 25:59I think that Maddie is watching Chloe dance.
- 26:01And I think that Maddie knows that Chloe is dancing extremely
- 26:04well today, and I think she feels a little nervous
- 26:07that Chloe might be real competition.
- 26:11Nail that.
- 26:14Use the plié.
- 26:15Glide through fourth, up to relevé.
- 26:16Think about all those things you're doing wrong.
- 26:19Today, it's anybody's game.
- 26:22Chloe can step out on stage and beat Maddie any day,
- 26:24anytime, anywhere.
- 26:26That's what this game is all about.
- 26:27That's why it's called competition.
- 26:29Where are Asia and Nia?
- 26:31[cheering]
- 26:34Oh my god.
- 26:39Love that.
- 26:41Shangela would be proud.
- 26:42Can we see the drag walk now?
- 26:49I'm really excited Nia and Asia have this duet this week.
- 26:52They look really great together.
- 26:54But this is the first time they had a duet,
- 26:55and so I know they're going to need to run it a few times
- 26:58before they go on stage.
- 27:01All right, let's go.
- 27:02Let's go. - They're not going on.
- 27:03The duo's not going on.
- 27:04Not yet.
- 27:05We've got to get moving.
- 27:06But we'll come back to the duet?
- 27:08Yes.
- 27:09'Cause I didn't have a chance to get pins.
- 27:10they're not finished getting dressed.
- 27:12Maddie and Chloe's solos are coming up next
- 27:14and we're all rushing to try to get out of the room,
- 27:17but we haven't run Nia and Asia's duet yet
- 27:19and I'm getting really nervous.
- 27:21[music continuing]
- 27:30Before I go on stage for my solo,
- 27:32I'm just a little, tiny bit nervous,
- 27:35but I just want to go out there and show to Miss Abby
- 27:38that I can do it.
- 27:41ANNOUNCER: Our next entry is entry number 27, Chloe,
- 27:44performing to "About Mother."
- 27:46[applause]
- 27:54[MUSIC - CLAIRE HAYEK, "WHAT ABOUT (MOTHER)"]
- 28:00Mother, tell me, Mother.
- 28:06How do silence my mind?
- 28:12Show me, show me, Mother, how to, follow the signs.
- 28:23'Cause you see right through me and you can heal my pain.
- 28:35What about the air we breathe?
- 28:38All the pain we feel?
- 28:41What about you and me?
- 28:44What about?
- 28:45What about?
- 28:47What about green and the blue, all that we've been through?
- 28:53What about you and me?
- 28:56What about?
- 28:57What about?
- 28:59What about?
- 29:00What about?
- 29:02What about?
- 29:04What about?
- 29:09[cheering]
- 29:13I think Chloe should be really proud of herself
- 29:15because I think it would be so hard to hear just
- 29:17negative things all the time and go out there and rise
- 29:20to the occasion and dance your heart out.
- 29:22So I give her a lot of credit for this dance today
- 29:24because I think she looks amazing.
- 29:27There's always pressure on Maddie.
- 29:29I mean, there's pressure on all the kids.
- 29:31But you know, she wants to please Miss Abby.
- 29:34ANNOUNCER: Ladies and gentlemen, our next entry
- 29:36is number 30, Maddie performing to "They'll Never Change."
- 29:40[cheering]
- 29:43[MUSIC - TATIANA MOROZ, "THEY'LL NEVER CHANGE"]
- 29:45Another day, another way to get thrown out of home.
- 29:54But does it really matter what we say or who started it all?
- 30:03No, they'll never change, even if we want them to.
- 30:14They'll never change.
- 30:21I don't want to disappoint, but really what's
- 30:28the point when we're not getting very much love at all.
- 30:33I'm not getting very much love at all.
- 30:40They'll never change.
- 30:52I think Maddie's beautiful on stage and it was flawless.
- 30:57ANNOUNCER: All right, our next entry is number 44,
- 31:02"Move You Too."
- 31:05All of a sudden I hear the competition announce
- 31:07that the duet is up next, and there
- 31:10was supposed to be 14 numbers between Asia
- 31:12and Nia's duet and Maddie's solo.
- 31:14Asia and Nia never had a chance to rehearse a duet.
- 31:22They didn't run the duet.
- 31:24I think they ran it backstage.
- 31:25No, they did not.
- 31:27In this duet, Nia has an extremely difficult lift
- 31:30with Asia where she picks her up over her head.
- 31:33She hasn't even had a chance to practice it.
- 31:35They haven't even stretched.
- 31:36They are totally unprepared.
- 31:46The competition skipped ahead to the duet
- 31:48and the girls are totally unprepared.
- 31:50They are totally caught off guard,
- 31:51and there's this extremely difficult lift
- 31:54in the middle of the dance.
- 31:58We didn't even warm up or anything.
- 32:00We didn't practice at all, and that's not fair to Asia and I.
- 32:06ANNOUNCER: Our next entry is number 44, "Move You Too."
- 32:10[applause]
- 32:11[music - lacy baby, "move ya"]
- 32:131, 2, 1, 2, 3, get funky.
- 32:17I've got something to tell you and I think ought to know.
- 32:22It's time to get down to business.
- 32:24Come on, ready, set, go. 'Cause we grinding.
- 32:27No, not yet.
- 32:29We putting out the show.
- 32:33You think you know, but you have no idea me and the band,
- 32:39we about to make you feel something so, so unreal.
- 32:45We are the real deal.
- 32:48Whoo.
- 32:49Y'all ready to have some fun and let everything else go?
- 32:58Ha.
- 32:59I like that.
- 33:01Me, too.
- 33:02Let me show you how we do it, do it, do it.
- 33:05[applause]
- 33:06Way to go, girls.
- 33:10The duet ended up looking pretty good.
- 33:12Was it their best?
- 33:14No, but Nia was able to lift Asia with no difficulty,
- 33:18so I'm pretty happy with that.
- 33:21What I'm not happy with is with Abby.
- 33:23She was reckless and she totally was
- 33:25unprepared in rehearsing those girls
- 33:27before they went on stage.
- 33:29Holly and Christi are really upset right now
- 33:32because Abby was so busy having them do their drag queen walk
- 33:35that she forgot to have them run the dance.
- 33:37I think they did a nice job.
- 33:39I think they could have been better prepared.
- 33:41- They weren't stretched. - They weren't stretched.
- 33:43They weren't stretched.
- 33:44I could tell they weren't stretched.
- 33:45Being in a costume does not mean
- 33:47that you're ready to perform. - I agree.
- 33:49There was time for the girls to rehearse
- 33:52and she didn't use that time.
- 33:55Hey, hey, hey, hey.
- 34:02What?
- 34:04Who told the girls to go on if there were like 14 numbers?
- 34:08What?
- 34:09They never practiced in their costume like everybody else.
- 34:11They didn't even run anything. They didn't even stretch.
- 34:13Most importantly, they weren't warmed up.
- 34:15Regardless, the ability to adapt quickly to change,
- 34:19they need to be on that.
- 34:20Because when your kid goes to an audition,
- 34:22they could be number 185, and 183 and 184 dropped out
- 34:28and your kid's saying, well, wait a minute.
- 34:29I have six more minutes before I step out
- 34:31there to do my audition.
- 34:33No, you don't.
- 34:34When you're in an audition, you just need to be ready,
- 34:38and that's a fact.
- 34:40I was worried about the lift.
- 34:41The lift was great.
- 34:43They practiced the lift backstage.
- 34:45What else did they do that required all this warm up?
- 34:47A roundoff back handspring.
- 34:48Well, a back handspring, since you know everything, Dr. Holly,
- 34:51is done with a straight back.
- 34:52But it's not funny or cute to throw a kid on stage
- 34:54and them not be warmed up.
- 34:56Once again, Abby deflects the blame
- 34:58and turns this all into a lesson about being prepared.
- 35:01Regardless, this lesson could have been disastrous.
- 35:04Abby is lucky the duet performed as well as they did.
- 35:07[music continuing]
- 35:11ABBY LEE MILLER: One more time, this is it.
- 35:13Passion.
- 35:14Intensity.
- 35:16The group dance is up next.
- 35:18Abby's bold experiment of taking Maddie out of the group number
- 35:21and using her as an assistant is about to play out
- 35:24in front of all of us.
- 35:25I just hope that this experiment doesn't blow up
- 35:28in front of all of our faces.
- 35:30Maddie is going to go backstage with you.
- 35:32Listen to her.
- 35:33All right, game faces on.
- 35:34Let's go.
- 35:35Maddie, if they don't do well, I'm
- 35:38going to need a new assistant.
- 35:41[music continuing]
- 35:52It's going to be a challenge for the girls
- 35:54to dance without Maddie.
- 35:56This is a lesson.
- 35:57This is to say, girls, you need to be together.
- 36:00You need to be on your A game, and you're not.
- 36:07[chatter]
- 36:08How are we walking on?
- 36:18I think Abby puts all of her eggs in one basket
- 36:21and she depends on Maddie.
- 36:23And I think that this is their time to go out and show Abby
- 36:27that we can do this without Maddie.
- 36:28We don't need her.
- 36:30ANNOUNCER: All righty, our last dance for the day
- 36:32is entry number 57, "Hear No Evil."
- 36:36[applause]
- 36:39[MUSIC - WE THE COMMITTEE, "THIS WON'T END QUIETLY"]
- 36:41Fighter, fighter.
- 36:44You told me we were fighters, fighters.
- 36:49We let the night get away to something better than here.
- 36:58We let the night get away.
- 37:07Fighter, fighter.
- 37:09You told me we were fighters, fighters.
- 37:16This won't end quietly.
- 37:20This won't end quietly.
- 37:25This will be beautiful, my love.
- 37:40[cheering]
- 37:46I think I've accomplished my goal.
- 37:48The girls learned to survive without Maddie.
- 37:56All right, our Energy Junior Solos Division.
- 37:59In third place, "Titanium."
- 38:02There is one point separating first and second.
- 38:05And second place, Chloe performing to "About Mother."
- 38:11And our top overall Energy Junior Solo is Maddie,
- 38:16"Maybe They'll Change."
- 38:19Now Chloe is second only by one point.
- 38:24Maddie, Melissa, you better wake up.
- 38:27Chloe has learned her lesson and she is hot on your trail.
- 38:30We have our top Overall Energy Petite Duet Trio.
- 38:34In third place, "On Broadway."
- 38:38And second place, "Follow the Leader."
- 38:42And our top Overall Energy Petite Duet Trio,
- 38:47"Move You Too."
- 38:48[applause]
- 38:50I'm so proud of Nia.
- 38:52The duet came in first place and they didn't run the dance once.
- 38:56They adapted to the situation and they persevered,
- 38:59and I hope this shows Abby that Nia can tackle any situation
- 39:03that comes her way.
- 39:05Our Power Petite Small Group top award goes to entry number
- 39:0933, "Runaway Babies."
- 39:14Our Energy Junior Small Group top overall winner
- 39:19goes to "Hear No Evil."
- 39:24I'm thrilled.
- 39:25The girls learned not to rely on Maddie.
- 39:29Now, if they can learn not to rely on their mothers
- 39:33and think for themselves, I might have a whole new team
- 39:36on my hands.
- 39:37[cheering]
- 39:40Congratulations.
- 39:41Congratulations.
- 39:42Congratulations to everybody.
- 39:45Everybody did well.
- 39:46I think you got lucky.
- 39:47I think it's hysterical that the group dance got
- 39:51first place.
- 39:52I just would like to rub it into Abby's nose that, see,
- 39:56our girls can dance without Melissa's kids in it
- 40:00and still do well.
- 40:01In the clothes that you're on right now,
- 40:02I'd like you to run "The Last Text" since we're doing it
- 40:05next week.
- 40:06I want to see if I want to make any changes.
- 40:07We are going to New York City next week
- 40:09and we're going to be on "The View" doing "The Last Text."
- 40:12So I need these kids to run that number at every opportunity.
- 40:16I need to look at this routine and I need to look at it now.
- 40:19Sickle feet.
- 40:21You do that, I will literally grab that hand
- 40:23and drag you off the stage.
- 40:25Is it clear that she's going to be on "The View,"
- 40:28or should I--
- 40:29- You never know. - Asia's been running the dance.
- 40:31She's been rehearsing.
- 40:32She knows the part.
- 40:33So at this point, I think Asia should be on "The View."
- 40:35Does that mean Asia's doing "The Last Text?"
- 40:38Mackenzie's definitely bummed.
- 40:40She wants to dance.
- 40:41She wants to dance in the worst way.
- 40:44We'll see.
- 40:50ABBY LEE MILLER (VOICEOVER): Next on "Dance Moms."
- 40:52Here we are, New York City.
- 40:56[inaudible]
- 40:57Oh.
- 40:59What do I have to do to get Mackenzie to dance again?
- 41:02I really think that she needs to go on "The View."
- 41:04We are holding an open audition
- 41:06for a contemporary dancer.
- 41:08I danced with Mariah Carey.
- 41:10Wow.
- 41:11Who's going to be in the dance?
- 41:13I'm not sure yet.
- 41:14I have to fight for my daughter.
- 41:15Let it die.
- 41:17This is my decision.
