- 0:00Imagine you were born with 12 tools, 12
- 0:03tools that never break, 12 tools that
- 0:06never charge you a fee, 12 tools that
- 0:09work every second of every day, whether
- 0:11you believe in them or not. [music]
- 0:14Now, imagine you spent your whole life
- 0:16using only one of them and using it
- 0:18badly. And then, you spent decades
- 0:21wondering why life felt so hard.
- 0:24That is exactly what happens to most
- 0:27people. Joseph Murphy spent his life
- 0:29teaching one idea. The subconscious mind
- 0:32is not a storage room for old memories.
- 0:35>> [music]
- 0:35>> It is a living, working, creating
- 0:37intelligence. It has faculties, powers,
- 0:40and abilities that most of us leave
- 0:42sitting in the dark. In the next
- 0:44minutes, I'm going to introduce you to
- 0:46all 12 of them, one at a time, with
- 0:49stories, with experiments, and with
- 0:52practices you can do tonight, [music] in
- 0:54your bed, with your eyes closed. By the
- 0:56end, you will not look at your own mind
- 0:59the same way [music] again. If you are
- 1:01listening to this at night, let it play.
- 1:03Your subconscious mind does not sleep.
- 1:06It listens. If you are listening during
- 1:08the day, stay with me. I will give you
- 1:11things to try. Before we begin,
- 1:13subscribe and tell me in the comments
- 1:15where you are listening from and what
- 1:16time it is there. I read these. Let's
- 1:19begin.
- 1:20Picture a house with two floors. The
- 1:23upstairs floor has windows. This is your
- 1:26conscious mind. It looks outside, makes
- 1:28decisions, argues, plans, and worries.
- 1:32It is the part of you that says, "I
- 1:33think." and "I choose." The downstairs
- 1:37floor has no windows at all. This is
- 1:40your subconscious mind. [music] It never
- 1:42looks outside. It only receives what the
- 1:44upstairs floor sends down, and then it
- 1:47builds. It builds your habits, your
- 1:50reactions, your health patterns, and
- 1:52your sense of what is possible for
- 1:53someone like you. Here is the part most
- 1:56people [music] miss. The downstairs
- 1:58floor is where the
- 2:00is. The upstairs floor decides what goes
- 2:02into the machine. That is all it does,
- 2:05but that one decision is enormous.
- 2:09Murphy taught that the conscious mind is
- 2:11the gardener and the subconscious mind
- 2:13is the soil. The gardener does not make
- 2:16the seed grow. The gardener chooses the
- 2:18seed, [music] plants it, and trusts the
- 2:20soil. If you plant fear, the soil
- 2:23[music] returns fear. If you plant a
- 2:25settled conviction of success, the soil
- 2:28returns that, too.
- 2:29>> [music]
- 2:29>> It does not judge. It does not argue. It
- 2:32only multiplies. So, when we talk about
- 2:3512 powers, we are really talking about
- 2:3712 ways this soil responds and 12 ways
- 2:41you can learn to plant. Here is the map
- 2:43for today. Power one, the power of
- 2:46acceptance, where belief becomes
- 2:49reality. Power two, the power of the
- 2:52picture, imagination as a blueprint.
- 2:55Power three, the power of repetition,
- 2:58>> [music]
- 2:59>> how a thought becomes a groove. Power
- 3:01four, the power of feeling, the
- 3:04emotional signature. Power five, the
- 3:07power of restoration, the body's [music]
- 3:10built-in repair intelligence. Power six,
- 3:14the power [music] of the night, what
- 3:15happens while you sleep. Power seven,
- 3:19the power of release, forgiveness as a
- 3:21mental technology. Power eight, the
- 3:25power of inner answers, intuition and
- 3:28creative solutions. Power nine, the
- 3:31power of decision, the quiet moment that
- 3:34changes [music] timelines. Power 10, the
- 3:37power of abundance, your inner economy.
- 3:41Power 11, the power of harmony,
- 3:44relationships [music]
- 3:45and the mirror effect. Power 12, the
- 3:48power of stillness, where all the other
- 3:51powers combine.
- 3:53A short note before we go. Nothing in
- 3:55this video replaces medical, legal, or
- 3:58financial professionals. When I talk
- 4:00about the mind's influence [music] on
- 4:02health or money, I am sharing a
- 4:04philosophy of mental practice. I am not
- 4:07promising outcomes. Use these ideas
- 4:09alongside real-world action and proper
- 4:12care.
- 4:13Power one,
- 4:14>> [music]
- 4:14>> the power of acceptance. A man walks
- 4:17into a doctor's office and is told, "You
- 4:20are a nervous person." Within a year, he
- 4:23is.
- 4:24Let me start with a small, ordinary
- 4:26story. A young woman is told by a
- 4:29teacher, "You're just not good with
- 4:31numbers." She is 11. She nods. She does
- 4:35not argue. Something inside her accepts
- 4:38it quietly, like a coin dropping [music]
- 4:41into a slot. 20 years later, she avoids
- 4:44spreadsheets, panics at budgeting, and
- 4:46tells people, "I'm just not a math
- 4:48person." She believes it is a fact about
- 4:52her. It is not a fact. It is a sentence
- 4:55she accepted a long time ago. This is
- 4:58the first power. Acceptance. Murphy's
- 5:02teaching was simple and strict. Your
- 5:04subconscious mind does not respond to
- 5:07what you wish. It responds to what you
- 5:09accept as true. And it accepts things in
- 5:12a surprising way. It does not require
- 5:15evidence. It requires conviction. Now,
- 5:19what is a belief? A belief is only a
- 5:22thought you keep thinking. That is all.
- 5:25Nobody is born with beliefs about money,
- 5:28love, health, or worth. They are
- 5:30installed. Parents, teachers, headlines,
- 5:34and old embarrassments are the
- 5:36installers. And here [music] is the good
- 5:38news hiding inside that sentence. If a
- 5:41belief is only a thought you keep
- 5:43thinking, then a belief can be replaced.
- 5:46An example from a different world, the
- 5:48placebo. Researchers have known for
- 5:51decades that people given an inactive
- 5:53pill, simply because they believe it is
- 5:55a real treatment, often report real
- 5:58changes.
- 5:59>> [music]
- 5:59>> Pain drops, mood shifts, some measurable
- 6:02body responses change. This does not
- 6:05mean the mind cures everything. It does
- 6:08show that expectation is not trivial.
- 6:11The belief that something is working
- 6:13[music] can itself change the experience
- 6:15of the body.
- 6:16Murphy would say that this is not a
- 6:18trick. It is the subconscious mind doing
- 6:21what it always does, responding [music]
- 6:24to what the conscious mind accepts.
- 6:26The difference between acceptance and
- 6:29hoping. Hope says, "Maybe it will
- 6:32happen." Acceptance says, "It is already
- 6:35settled in my mind." [music]
- 6:37Here is a way to feel the difference.
- 6:39Think of the sun rising tomorrow. You do
- 6:42not hope it will rise. You do not strain
- 6:45to believe it. You simply know. There is
- 6:48no tension in that knowing. That relaxed
- 6:51certainty is what the subconscious
- 6:53responds to.
- 6:54When you try to force belief, you create
- 6:57tension, and tension [music]
- 6:59is a signal of doubt.
- 7:01So, the practice is not to push harder.
- 7:03It is to relax into a statement you can
- 7:06honestly entertain. [music]
- 7:08The bridge sentence technique.
- 7:10Say you cannot honestly say, "I am
- 7:12wealthy." [music]
- 7:13The subconscious mind laughs at it, and
- 7:16the old belief shouts louder.
- 7:18>> [music]
- 7:18>> So, use a bridge sentence. A bridge
- 7:21sentence is a statement that is both
- 7:23true and pointing in the direction you
- 7:25want. Instead of "I am wealthy," try "I
- 7:29am learning how money works, and my
- 7:31understanding grows every day."
- 7:34Instead of "I am confident," try "I am
- 7:37becoming more at ease in rooms with
- 7:40people."
- 7:41Instead of "I am healed," [music]
- 7:43try "My body knows how to restore
- 7:45balance, and I cooperate with it."
- 7:48You can believe a bridge sentence, and
- 7:51what you can believe, you can plant.
- 7:54Practice the acceptance scan. About 4
- 7:57minutes.
- 7:58Close your eyes. Take a slow breath.
- 8:02Finish this sentence silently.
- 8:05I'm not the kind of person who
- 8:08Whatever came up is an installed belief.
- 8:11Do not fight it. Just notice it.
- 8:14Now ask, [music]
- 8:15"Who first told me this? Did I ever
- 8:18choose it?"
- 8:20Now write a bridge sentence that opens a
- 8:22door in that wall. Say it three times
- 8:25slowly and let it land.
- 8:29That is the first power. It sits at the
- 8:32entrance of all the others because
- 8:34whatever you accept, the other 11 powers
- 8:37will build.
- 8:39If you want this idea in a form [music]
- 8:40you can read slowly, mark up, and return
- 8:43to, I put Murphy's core teaching on the
- 8:45laws of the mind into an [music] ebook
- 8:47called The Laws of the Mind. The link is
- 8:50in the description and the pinned
- 8:52comment. We will come back to it later.
- 8:55Power two, the power of the picture.
- 8:58An architect would never pour concrete
- 9:01without a drawing. So, why [music] do
- 9:03you build a life without one?
- 9:06Every building you have ever walked into
- 9:09was a picture first. Before the beams,
- 9:12before the bricks, before the budget,
- 9:14somebody saw it in their mind. The
- 9:17picture came first, the structure
- 9:19followed.
- 9:21Murphy taught that your imagination is
- 9:23the drawing board of your subconscious
- 9:25[music] mind. When you hold a clear,
- 9:27steady mental picture, the deeper mind
- 9:30treats it as a work order. And the
- 9:32strange thing is that your mind does not
- 9:34strongly distinguish between a vividly
- 9:37imagined scene and a lived one. Athletes
- 9:40use this. Musicians use this. Surgeons
- 9:43rehearse operations mentally before
- 9:45performing them. Mental rehearsal is not
- 9:48a gimmick. It is a form of training that
- 9:50has been studied [music] for years.
- 9:52A different example, the pianist who
- 9:55practiced without a piano. There is a
- 9:57classic kind of experiment where one
- 10:00group practices a short piano sequence
- 10:02physically and another group only
- 10:04imagines practicing it. The imagined
- 10:07[music] group often shows improvement,
- 10:09too. And sometimes changes in the brain
- 10:11areas involved in the movement. [music]
- 10:14I am simplifying here, but the point
- 10:16stands. The brain rehearses what it
- 10:19pictures.
- 10:20Now, apply that to your own inner
- 10:23pictures.
- 10:24Most people use imagination in only one
- 10:26direction. Worry.
- 10:29Worry is imagination used backwards. You
- 10:32are running a vivid mental film of what
- 10:35you do not want in full color with
- 10:37sound. You are rehearsing the disaster.
- 10:41So, the second power asks a single
- 10:43question.
- 10:44What film are you running most often?
- 10:48The three rules of a useful picture.
- 10:51Rule one, make it specific.
- 10:54"I want to be happy." is a mood, not a
- 10:57picture. "I am sitting at my own kitchen
- 11:00table on a quiet morning finishing a
- 11:02project I am proud of." is a picture.
- 11:05Rule two, step inside it. Do not watch
- 11:09it like a movie on a screen. Be in it.
- 11:12See through your own eyes. Feel the
- 11:15chair. Hear the room.
- 11:17Rule three, keep it ordinary.
- 11:21People often imagine a spectacular
- 11:23moment and the mind rejects it as
- 11:25fantasy. Imagine a normal day in the
- 11:28life you want. The ordinary details make
- 11:31it feel believable and believability is
- 11:34the key. Practice the doorway technique
- 11:37about 5 [music] minutes.
- 11:39Sit comfortably. Close your eyes.
- 11:42Imagine a doorway in front of you.
- 11:44Behind it [music] is one ordinary day in
- 11:47the life you are building.
- 11:49Step through the doorway.
- 11:51What time [music] is it? What can you
- 11:53hear?
- 11:54What are your hands doing?
- 11:56Is anyone with you?
- 11:58What do they say?
- 12:00Now, let the feeling of this day settle
- 12:02into your chest. You are not wishing.
- 12:05You are visiting.
- 12:07When you [music] are ready, step back
- 12:09through the doorway. Carry the feeling
- 12:11with you and open your eyes. Do this
- 12:14once a day and a funny thing happens.
- 12:16The future version of your life starts
- 12:18to feel familiar
- 12:20>> [music]
- 12:20>> and familiar things are what the
- 12:21subconscious mind moves toward.
- 12:24Power three, the power of repetition.
- 12:28Hook for this chapter.
- 12:29>> [music]
- 12:30>> A river does not carve a canyon with
- 12:32force. It does it with the same path
- 12:35over and over.
- 12:37Think about a path across a lawn.
- 12:39>> [music]
- 12:39>> Nobody planned it. Nobody poured
- 12:41concrete. A few people cut the corner
- 12:44once, then others followed and a month
- 12:46later there is a bare line of dirt where
- 12:49grass used to be.
- 12:50This is how habits form in the mind. A
- 12:53thought repeated becomes a track. A
- 12:56track repeated becomes a groove. A
- 12:58groove repeated becomes your automatic
- 13:01way of thinking.
- 13:02Murphy taught that repetition is how the
- 13:05subconscious mind learns, not intensity,
- 13:08not one dramatic moment of inspiration,
- 13:11repetition with attention and feeling.
- 13:14Modern neuroscience describes something
- 13:16similar. Brain connections that fire
- 13:19together are strengthened together.
- 13:21Repetition makes a pathway faster and
- 13:24easier. That is the foundation of habit.
- 13:27A different example, [music] the
- 13:29language you did not choose. You did not
- 13:32decide to think in your first language.
- 13:34You heard it again and again until it
- 13:37became the water you swim in. You did
- 13:39not memorize it, it sank in.
- 13:42Your self-talk works the same way. The
- 13:45way you speak to yourself when you drop
- 13:46a glass, miss a deadline, or look in the
- 13:49mirror is a phrase you have repeated
- 13:51thousands [music] of times. It sounds
- 13:53like truth because it is so familiar,
- 13:56which means you have to ask an
- 13:57uncomfortable [music] question.
- 13:59Whose voice is that? Often it is a copy
- 14:02of someone else's.
- 14:04The rule of three quiet moments.
- 14:07Do not try to repeat your new thought
- 14:09all day.
- 14:10>> [music]
- 14:10>> That becomes a chore. Use three quiet
- 14:13moments. The moment after waking, when
- 14:16the mind [music] is still soft. A moment
- 14:18at midday, when you pause for 30
- 14:20seconds. The moment before sleep, when
- 14:23the door to the subconscious is open. In
- 14:26each moment, repeat one sentence,
- 14:28slowly, with meaning. Not mechanically
- 14:32like a parrot. Think of it like pressing
- 14:34a seed into soil, not shouting at it.
- 14:37Why people quit too early.
- 14:40People repeat an idea for 3 days, feel
- 14:43nothing, and decide [music] it does not
- 14:45work. But the old groove has years of
- 14:48traffic on it. The new path is still
- 14:50grass.
- 14:51Give it a few weeks of gentle
- 14:53consistency before you judge it. You are
- 14:56not trying to force anything.
- 14:58>> [music]
- 14:58>> You are making a new path easier to walk
- 15:00than the old one.
- 15:02Practice the one sentence, about 3
- 15:05minutes. Choose one bridge sentence from
- 15:08earlier. Say it slowly seven times, with
- 15:11a slow breath between each one.
- 15:15Notice if any part of you pushes back.
- 15:18Do not argue with it. Just say the
- 15:20sentence again, a little more gently.
- 15:24That is the third power. It is not
- 15:27dramatic. That is why it works.
- 15:31Power four, the power of feeling.
- 15:35Hook for this chapter.
- 15:36>> [music]
- 15:36>> Two people repeat the exact same
- 15:39affirmation. One changes, one does not.
- 15:42The difference is not the words.
- 15:45Here is a puzzle. Two people say the
- 15:48same sentence every morning. I am calm
- 15:51and confident. For one, it begins to
- 15:53change things. For the other, it does
- 15:56nothing, or makes things worse. What is
- 15:59the difference?
- 16:00The first person feels something while
- 16:02saying it, even a faint flicker of ease.
- 16:05The second person says it with a
- 16:07clenched jaw, silently thinking, "No,
- 16:10I'm not."
- 16:11The subconscious mind reads the feeling
- 16:13underneath the words. If the words say
- 16:16calm, but the body says panic, the
- 16:18deeper mind believes [music] the body.
- 16:21This is the fourth power, feeling.
- 16:24Murphy taught that an idea becomes a
- 16:26conviction when it is joined to emotion.
- 16:29Emotion is the glue. Without it, a
- 16:32thought floats away. With it, a thought
- 16:35sinks in.
- 16:36An example from memory. You may not
- 16:39remember what you ate last Tuesday, but
- 16:41you probably remember where you were
- 16:43when you received some shocking news.
- 16:45The emotional charge fixed the memory.
- 16:48That is how your subconscious indexes
- 16:50experience. High emotion means high
- 16:53importance. So, when you want to plant a
- 16:56new idea, you borrow that mechanism. You
- 16:59attach a calm, positive feeling to the
- 17:01idea, and the deeper mind files it as
- 17:04important. [music]
- 17:05The feeling dial. Many people think they
- 17:08need big emotions, like excitement and
- 17:10ecstasy. They do not. A quiet feeling of
- 17:14rightness works better.
- 17:16>> [music]
- 17:16>> Think of a feeling dial from zero to 10.
- 17:19You do not need a 10. A steady three or
- 17:22four, repeated daily, outperforms a
- 17:24forced 10 once a [music] month. Here are
- 17:27feelings you can reach honestly in a
- 17:29moment of practice.
- 17:30Relief,
- 17:32gratitude, appreciation,
- 17:34quiet satisfaction, curiosity,
- 17:38ease.
- 17:39Practice, borrowing the feeling, about 4
- 17:43minutes.
- 17:44Close your eyes.
- 17:45Recall a moment when you felt completely
- 17:48at ease. It can be small, a warm drink,
- 17:52a cool breeze, a quiet room.
- 17:55Let the feeling expand. Where is it in
- 17:58your body? Chest? Shoulders? Stomach?
- 18:03Now, holding that feeling, say your
- 18:05bridge sentence once,
- 18:07>> [music]
- 18:07>> slowly.
- 18:09Again.
- 18:10Again.
- 18:12You have just joined a sentence to a
- 18:14feeling. This is the whole trick of the
- 18:17fourth power.
- 18:19If you are enjoying this, you will love
- 18:21going deeper. My ebook [music]
- 18:23Commanding Your Subconscious Mind walks
- 18:25through step-by-step techniques for
- 18:27giving clear instructions to the deeper
- 18:29mind, written as a practical companion.
- 18:31[music]
- 18:32Link in the description.
- 18:34Power five, the power of restoration.
- 18:37[music]
- 18:38Your body rebuilt itself while you were
- 18:40reading the last sentence. What is
- 18:42directing that work?
- 18:45Have you ever cut your finger and
- 18:46watched it close? You did not instruct
- 18:49it. You did not know how. Yet a precise
- 18:52sequence of repair, cleaning,
- 18:54rebuilding, and sealing [music] began on
- 18:56its own without a single conscious
- 18:58thought.
- 19:00Murphy was fascinated by [music] this.
- 19:02He said the same intelligence that heals
- 19:04a cut is operating in every cell every
- 19:07second, and that it responds to the
- 19:09quality of your mental atmosphere.
- 19:12Let me be careful here because this is
- 19:14the most sensitive of the 12 powers. I
- 19:17am not saying thoughts replace medicine.
- 19:20I am saying that a calm, expectant mind
- 19:23supports the body's [music] natural
- 19:25processes, and that chronic fear,
- 19:27resentment, and stress work against
- 19:29them.
- 19:30>> [music]
- 19:30>> Modern research on stress points the
- 19:32same way. Long-term stress is associated
- 19:35with changes in sleep, digestion, immune
- 19:38function, [music] and blood pressure. If
- 19:41a stressed mind can disrupt the body, it
- 19:43is reasonable to think a settled mind
- 19:45can support it.
- 19:47A different example, the power of a calm
- 19:50waiting room.
- 19:51Imagine two patients waiting for the
- 19:53same test. One spends the hour imagining
- 19:56the worst, heart racing, breath shallow,
- 19:59shoulders tight. The other sits quietly,
- 20:02breathes slowly, and trusts [music] the
- 20:04process while doing what the doctor
- 20:06advises. Same test, same results
- 20:09pending, very different [music] internal
- 20:11states. And the internal state affects
- 20:14sleep, recovery, and decision-making
- 20:17afterward.
- 20:18What Murphy emphasized. He taught
- 20:21working with the body's wisdom [music]
- 20:23rather than against it. That means three
- 20:25things. One, stop feeding the problem
- 20:28with constant mental repetition of it.
- 20:31Talking about it all day and rehearsing
- 20:33it at night makes it the center of your
- 20:35mental film. Two, hold a picture of
- 20:38normal function and well-being. See
- 20:41yourself moving, eating, and living the
- 20:44way you want without strain. Three,
- 20:47release the anxious need to control the
- 20:49outcome. The healing intelligence is not
- 20:52helped by tension. And one more thing,
- 20:55said plainly, if you are unwell, use
- 20:58[music] every real resource available.
- 21:00Doctors, treatments, rest. [music] The
- 21:03mental work is a partner, not a
- 21:05replacement.
- 21:07Practice the gratitude scan, about 5
- 21:10minutes.
- 21:11Lie back or sit comfortably. Starting at
- 21:14the top of your head, thank each area of
- 21:17your body for what it does.
- 21:20Eyes, for showing you the world.
- 21:24Lungs, for breathing [music] without
- 21:26being asked.
- 21:28Heart, for beating through every night.
- 21:32Hands,
- 21:34legs,
- 21:35skin.
- 21:38Allow a sense that this body is on your
- 21:40side and is working for you right now.
- 21:45That is the fifth power. A mind at peace
- 21:48with the body is a good partner for it.
- 21:51Power six, the power of the night.
- 21:55What if the most productive hours of
- 21:57your life are the ones you spend
- 21:59unconscious?
- 22:00Most people think sleep is time off.
- 22:03Murphy taught that it is the opposite.
- 22:06When you go to sleep, the conscious mind
- 22:08steps away from the controls. The
- 22:10critical, doubting, upstairs voice goes
- 22:13quiet, and the downstairs floor keeps
- 22:16working uninterrupted.
- 22:18Sleep science backs up part of this.
- 22:21During sleep, the brain consolidates
- 22:23memories, sorts experiences, and
- 22:26strengthens connections. People often
- 22:28wake with a problem looking clearer than
- 22:30when they went to bed.
- 22:31>> [music]
- 22:32>> There is a reason the old advice is to
- 22:34sleep on it.
- 22:35A different example, the chess puzzle.
- 22:38Studies on learning show that people who
- 22:40sleep after practicing a task often
- 22:43perform better afterward than people who
- 22:45stay awake for the same stretch of time.
- 22:48Memory settles, skill sharpens. The
- 22:51night does [music] real work.
- 22:53If that is true for a chess puzzle,
- 22:55think about what it means for the last
- 22:57thoughts [music] you carry into sleep.
- 23:00The last thought principle.
- 23:02The final minutes before sleep are
- 23:04special.
- 23:05>> [music]
- 23:05>> Your mind is in a soft, receptive state,
- 23:08close to the edge of dreaming. Whatever
- 23:10you feel and think there gets carried
- 23:12downstairs and worked on all night. Most
- 23:16people use that window to scroll [music]
- 23:18bad news, replay arguments, or rehearse
- 23:21tomorrow's problems. That is like
- 23:23handing the night shift a list of
- 23:24complaints. [music]
- 23:26The night shift instruction.
- 23:28Murphy's advice was to give your
- 23:29subconscious a calm, clear instruction
- 23:32as you fall asleep. Then, let go.
- 23:35Here is a simple version.
- 23:37Step one, review the day lightly.
- 23:40Release anything unfinished by saying,
- 23:43"It is handled for tonight."
- 23:45Step two, state one clear request for
- 23:48the night.
- 23:49>> [music]
- 23:49>> For example, "Show me a clear next step
- 23:51on this project." Or, "Let my mind and
- 23:54body reset fully."
- 23:56Step three, fall asleep inside a feeling
- 23:59of thanks, as if it is already being
- 24:02[music] handled.
- 24:03Practice the night shift instruction.
- 24:06About 5 minutes, ideal at bedtime.
- 24:09If you are in bed, get comfortable. Let
- 24:12your breathing slow.
- 24:14Think of one question or intention for
- 24:16tonight. Keep it short and calm.
- 24:20Say it once in your mind.
- 24:22Now, imagine handing it over, like
- 24:25[music] placing a letter in a mailbox.
- 24:28You do not need to figure it out. The
- 24:30night will work on it.
- 24:32Let your body get heavy. Let the
- 24:34thoughts get softer. Let everything be
- 24:38handled.
- 24:39And if you are already drifting off,
- 24:41that is exactly what this part of the
- 24:43video [music] is for.
- 24:45Good night. I will see you in the next
- 24:46power whenever you wake.
- 24:49Power seven, the power of release.
- 24:53Hook for this chapter.
- 24:54Holding a grudge is like carrying a hot
- 24:56coal and expecting the other person
- 24:58[music] to feel the burn.
- 25:01There is a story told in many forms.
- 25:03>> [music]
- 25:03>> Two monks walk a muddy road and meet a
- 25:06woman unable to cross the stream.
- 25:08One monk [music] carries her across and
- 25:10sets her down.
- 25:11Hours later, the second monk, still
- 25:14walking, bursts out,
- 25:15>> [music]
- 25:15>> "Why did you touch her? You are not
- 25:17supposed to."
- 25:18The first monk replies, "I put her down
- 25:21hours ago. Are you still carrying her?"
- 25:24That is resentment [music] in one story.
- 25:26The event is over. The mind is still
- 25:29carrying it.
- 25:31Murphy gave enormous weight to
- 25:33forgiveness, not as a moral nicety, but
- 25:36as a mental technology.
- 25:38His view was that resentment, guilt,
- 25:40[music] and grievance keep a negative
- 25:42thought loop alive in the subconscious,
- 25:45and that those loops draw energy away
- 25:47from everything else you want to do.
- 25:50What forgiveness is and what it is
- 25:52[music] not.
- 25:53Forgiveness is not saying what happened
- 25:55was fine. It is not reuniting with
- 25:58someone who hurt you. It is not
- 26:00weakness. It is the decision to stop
- 26:03rerunning the injury. [music] It is
- 26:05cutting the cord between you and the
- 26:07memory, so the memory stops charging
- 26:09rent.
- 26:11Research on forgiveness has linked it
- 26:12with lower stress, better mood, and
- 26:15better relationships, though the details
- 26:17vary. The pattern is consistent enough
- 26:19that therapists often teach forgiveness
- 26:21skills.
- 26:23A different example. The browser [music]
- 26:25with 47 tabs open.
- 26:27Think of unresolved resentments [music]
- 26:29as browser tabs. Each one is small, but
- 26:33together they slow the whole machine and
- 26:36you cannot figure out where the noise is
- 26:38coming from. Forgiveness is closing
- 26:41tabs.
- 26:42Three directions of release.
- 26:44Release toward others, the person who
- 26:47wronged you. Release toward yourself,
- 26:50the version of you who [music] made a
- 26:51mistake. Release toward life, the
- 26:54situation that did not [music] go the
- 26:56way you hoped.
- 26:58Many people can forgive others but not
- 27:00themselves and self-condemnation is one
- 27:03of the heaviest loads of all.
- 27:05Practice [music] the closing of tabs,
- 27:08about 6 minutes.
- 27:10Close your eyes. Bring to mind one
- 27:12person or event you are still [music]
- 27:14carrying. Do not choose the heaviest one
- 27:17first. Start moderate.
- 27:20Say silently,
- 27:21"I release you and I release myself from
- 27:24this.
- 27:25What I needed from it, I have taken. The
- 27:27rest, I set down."
- 27:30Imagine the memory like a sheet of paper
- 27:32with writing on it. Watch the writing
- 27:35fade.
- 27:36Now, do the same for something you did
- 27:39that you regret. Say, "I did what I knew
- 27:42how to do then. I know more now. I let
- 27:45it go."
- 27:46Take a breath and feel the space where
- 27:49the weight was.
- 27:50If something very painful comes up in
- 27:52this practice, please do not carry it
- 27:54alone. Talk to a counselor or someone
- 27:57you trust. This work is gentle, [music]
- 28:00not a replacement for support.
- 28:02CTA three. If you want to go back over
- 28:05these practices on paper, my ebook The
- 28:08Laws of the Mind breaks down the core
- 28:10principles one at a time. And if you
- 28:12want both books together at a discount,
- 28:14there is a bundle. I will tell you more
- 28:16about it before we finish.
- 28:19Power eight. The power of inner answers.
- 28:22Hook for this chapter. Your best idea of
- 28:25the year probably did [music] not come
- 28:27while you were working on it.
- 28:29Think about where your best ideas
- 28:31arrive. In the shower, on a walk,
- 28:34washing dishes, half asleep, almost
- 28:36never at the desk straining.
- 28:39Murphy taught that the subconscious mind
- 28:41holds a kind of
- 28:42>> [music]
- 28:42>> inner guidance, an ability to produce
- 28:45solutions, hunches, and creative
- 28:47connections [music] when the conscious
- 28:48mind relaxes its grip. He saw this as
- 28:51one of its most practical powers.
- 28:53[music]
- 28:54Creativity researchers describe
- 28:55something similar. The mind needs a
- 28:57period of effort followed by a period of
- 29:00rest for ideas to incubate and connect.
- 29:03Many famous insights are reported to
- 29:05have arrived during a break [music]
- 29:07after intense work. A different example.
- 29:10The word on the tip of your tongue.
- 29:13You try to remember a name. You cannot.
- 29:16You give up and change the subject. 10
- 29:18minutes later, the name pops into your
- 29:20head unprompted. Where was it working in
- 29:23those 10 minutes? Not in the part of you
- 29:26that was chatting.
- 29:27That is the eighth power [music] in
- 29:29miniature. You ask the question, you let
- 29:32go. The answer came.
- 29:35The three-step method. Step one, ask
- 29:38clearly.
- 29:40Write the question as a single sentence.
- 29:42What is the best way to handle this
- 29:44conflict? What should my next step on
- 29:47this project be?
- 29:48Step two, withdraw. Do something
- 29:51unrelated [music]
- 29:52and gentle. A walk, a shower, a nap, a
- 29:56quiet meal. Do not chew on the question.
- 30:00Step three, catch what arrives.
- 30:03>> [music]
- 30:03>> Keep a notebook nearby. Answers often
- 30:06come as a quiet nudge, not a fireworks
- 30:08display. [music]
- 30:10How to tell a real inner answer from
- 30:12anxiety.
- 30:14Anxiety tends to be loud, urgent, and
- 30:17repetitive. Inner guidance [music] tends
- 30:19to be calm, specific, and steady, even
- 30:22when it asks for something difficult.
- 30:25And always check any insight against
- 30:27reality. A good idea should survive
- 30:30being tested with facts, advice from
- 30:32knowledgeable people, and common [music]
- 30:34sense. The subconscious offers, your
- 30:37conscious mind verifies.
- 30:39Practice the question before stillness
- 30:43about 5 minutes.
- 30:44Choose a question you are [music]
- 30:45genuinely stuck on. Phrase it simply.
- 30:49Close your eyes.
- 30:51Breathe slowly.
- 30:53Say the question once, then let it go
- 30:56like dropping a coin into a deep well.
- 31:00Do not listen [music] for an answer.
- 31:02Just rest.
- 31:04When you open your eyes, write down the
- 31:06first quiet thought that arrives, even
- 31:09if it seems minor. Check back on it
- 31:11tomorrow.
- 31:13Power nine, the power of decision.
- 31:16Hook for this chapter.
- 31:18Somewhere in your past, one quiet
- 31:20decision changed everything. You
- 31:23probably did not know it at the time.
- 31:26Think of the moment you decided to move,
- 31:28quit, start, or say [music] yes. It
- 31:31often felt small, a sentence in your
- 31:34head, a shift. Yet, on the [music] other
- 31:36side of that decision, a different life
- 31:38started to unfold.
- 31:40Murphy taught [music] that a true
- 31:42decision is a powerful act of the
- 31:44conscious mind. It is the moment you
- 31:46choose a direction and stop negotiating
- 31:49with yourself. And the subconscious mind
- 31:51responds to a settled decision by
- 31:53organizing resources, attention, [music]
- 31:56and behavior around it.
- 31:58Here is something worth noticing. A lot
- 32:00of what we call indecision [music]
- 32:02is really a series of small decisions
- 32:04made by default. Not deciding [music] is
- 32:07deciding. It is handing the wheel to old
- 32:10habit. A different example.
- 32:13The airplane and the 1° error.
- 32:16A plane that is off course by just 1°
- 32:18will end up far from its destination
- 32:20after a long flight.
- 32:22Tiny unexamined [music] drifts compound.
- 32:26And tiny corrections made early change
- 32:28the landing point dramatically. So,
- 32:31decision is not only for huge life
- 32:34turns. It is also the daily act of
- 32:36nudging your heading by 1° in a
- 32:39direction you chose on purpose.
- 32:42What makes a decision real?
- 32:45A wish says, "I would like." A decision
- 32:48says, "This is how it is going to be."
- 32:51A real decision usually has three marks.
- 32:55It is specific. It is emotionally
- 32:57settled, meaning you are no longer
- 32:59arguing about it. And it is followed by
- 33:02an action, even a small one, within a
- 33:04short time.
- 33:06That last mark matters. The subconscious
- 33:09mind watches behavior. A decision backed
- 33:12by a visible step is believable. A
- 33:15decision with no follow-up is just
- 33:17another thought.
- 33:19The decision test.
- 33:21Ask yourself,
- 33:22"If I knew this would take a year, would
- 33:24I still choose it?"
- 33:26If yes, the decision is real. If not, it
- 33:30may be a mood.
- 33:32Practice. The single-line decision.
- 33:35About 4 minutes.
- 33:37Choose one area of life. Write one
- 33:40sentence beginning with, "I have decided
- 33:42that." Make it specific and honest.
- 33:46Read it aloud. Notice how your body
- 33:49responds. A little tension is normal. A
- 33:52strong no means the sentence needs to be
- 33:55adjusted.
- 33:56Now, write the first small action you
- 33:59will take within 48 [music] hours. Then,
- 34:02do it. That is the ninth power. It is
- 34:05the moment the soil receives its seed on
- 34:08purpose.
- 34:10Power 10. The power of abundance.
- 34:14Hook for this chapter.
- 34:16Two people receive the same amount of
- 34:18money. [music] One feels rich. The other
- 34:21feels broke within a month. Why?
- 34:24You can see the same thing in lottery
- 34:26stories, inheritances, and sudden
- 34:28raises. Some people keep and grow what
- 34:31arrives. Others lose it fast.
- 34:35Murphy's view was that wealth is first
- 34:37an inner condition. Your subconscious
- 34:40holds a thermostat for how much
- 34:42abundance you feel you deserve and can
- 34:44handle. And just like a home thermostat,
- 34:47[music] it quietly corrects any
- 34:49deviation from the set point. Earn a lot
- 34:52more than the setting and you feel
- 34:54uneasy and find ways [music] to spend or
- 34:56lose it. Earn less than the setting and
- 34:59you feel restless and find ways to
- 35:01recover.
- 35:02That does not mean circumstances are
- 35:04irrelevant. Opportunity, education, and
- 35:07luck matter a great deal.
- 35:09It means that [music] your inner setting
- 35:11influences how you notice, pursue, and
- 35:14handle opportunities. Imagine two people
- 35:17are each offered a promotion. One
- 35:19thinks, "I'm not ready. They'll find out
- 35:21I'm a fraud." and talks themselves out
- 35:24of it.
- 35:24>> [music]
- 35:25>> The other thinks, "I can grow into
- 35:27this." and accepts.
- 35:28The opportunity was identical. The inner
- 35:31setting decided the outcome.
- 35:34Four inner settings worth examining.
- 35:36First, your beliefs about money itself.
- 35:40Is it dirty, rare, hard to get, or a
- 35:43tool?
- 35:44What did you hear as a child?
- 35:46Second, your sense of worth. Do you feel
- 35:49allowed to receive?
- 35:51Third, your attitude toward other
- 35:53people's success.
- 35:54>> [music]
- 35:55>> Resentment blocks you. Appreciation
- 35:57opens you.
- 35:59Fourth, your relationship to giving.
- 36:02Murphy often spoke of the circulation of
- 36:04good. Money held in fear tends to
- 36:06stagnate, while money used wisely and
- 36:09generously feels like flow.
- 36:12What this is not. This is not a promise
- 36:15that thinking about money creates money.
- 36:17It is a call to clean up the inner
- 36:19limits that quietly sabotage honest
- 36:21effort. Pair it with skills, work,
- 36:24saving, and smart decisions.
- 36:27Practice the thermostat reset. About 5
- 36:30minutes.
- 36:32Close your eyes. Complete the sentence.
- 36:35Having plenty of money means
- 36:37Say the first thing that comes. Do this
- 36:40three times.
- 36:42Notice any negative ideas. Greedy,
- 36:45stressful, unfair. These are the
- 36:48thermostat's wiring.
- 36:50Now say, "I am willing to be a person
- 36:53who handles abundance wisely, [music]
- 36:55generously, and calmly."
- 36:57Say it again.
- 36:59Imagine one ordinary day in which
- 37:01[music] your finances feel steady and
- 37:03your mind is quiet about them.
- 37:06That is the tenth power, an inner
- 37:08economy [music]
- 37:09that supports your outer one.
- 37:11At this point in the video, I want to
- 37:13tell you about the bundle I mentioned.
- 37:15If you like the way we are breaking down
- 37:17Murphy's ideas, the mindful books bundle
- 37:19combines the laws of the mind and
- 37:21commanding your subconscious [music]
- 37:22mind in one package at a lower price
- 37:25than buying separately. It is written to
- 37:27be read and reread with space to apply
- 37:29it. The link is in the description and
- 37:32the pinned comment. [music]
- 37:33Let me go on because we have two powers
- 37:35left. Power 11, the power of harmony.
- 37:40Hook for this chapter. Every person in
- 37:42your life is a mirror, not of who they
- 37:45are, but of who you are being.
- 37:47Here is an observation many people find
- 37:50uncomfortable. Think of the three people
- 37:52who annoy you most. Often, they share a
- 37:55trait, and often that trait touches
- 37:57something you have not made peace with
- 37:59in yourself. Murphy taught that our
- 38:01relationships reflect our inner states,
- 38:04not in a blaming way as if you cause
- 38:06other people's behavior, but in a
- 38:08practical way.
- 38:10The way you interpret others, the
- 38:12expectations you carry into a room, and
- 38:14the inner stories you tell about them
- 38:16shape how you act and how they respond.
- 38:20Psychologists describe something
- 38:21related. When we expect hostility, we
- 38:24tend to behave defensively, and people
- 38:27respond to our defensiveness with real
- 38:29hostility.
- 38:30We create the very thing we feared. It
- 38:33is a self-fulfilling loop.
- 38:36A different example, the new co-worker.
- 38:39Two people meet the same new co-worker.
- 38:42The first has been told they're
- 38:43difficult. The second has been told
- 38:46nothing. The first arrives tense, short,
- 38:49and guarded. The co-worker senses it and
- 38:52responds coolly.
- 38:54The first person thinks, "See, I was
- 38:56right."
- 38:57The second person [music] arrives open
- 38:59and curious and gets a friendly
- 39:01response.
- 39:02Same co-worker, different [music]
- 39:04inner state.
- 39:06Three practices of harmony.
- 39:09One, assume a good intention when you
- 39:11can. Not naively, just as a starting
- 39:14stance. It changes your tone.
- 39:17Two, wish people [music] well in your
- 39:20mind, especially those you struggle
- 39:22with.
- 39:23Murphy taught this as a way to dissolve
- 39:25inner friction. It does not require them
- 39:27to change. It stops you from feeding the
- 39:30loop.
- 39:31Three,
- 39:32>> [music]
- 39:32>> take responsibility for your own state.
- 39:35You cannot control other people's moods,
- 39:37but you can choose what you bring into
- 39:39the room.
- 39:41A note [music] on boundaries. Harmony
- 39:43does not mean tolerating mistreatment.
- 39:46Peace of mind sometimes [music] means
- 39:48leaving, saying no, or protecting
- 39:50yourself. Healthy boundaries are part of
- 39:53harmony, not the opposite of it.
- 39:56Practice the inner handshake, about 5
- 39:59minutes.
- 40:00Think of someone with whom there is
- 40:02tension. Picture them in a neutral
- 40:04setting.
- 40:05Silently say, "I wish you peace. I wish
- 40:09you clarity.
- 40:10I release the need to be right."
- 40:13Notice how your body reacts. Does
- 40:16anything [music] soften?
- 40:17Now picture a calm conversation with
- 40:20them. See yourself [music] speaking with
- 40:22ease, listening fully.
- 40:25Whether or not anything changes
- 40:26outwardly, you have changed the inner
- 40:29stage. That is the part you can control.
- 40:33Power 12, the power of stillness.
- 40:37Hook for this chapter.
- 40:39Everything you have learned in this
- 40:40video quietly depends on one skill that
- 40:43most [music] people never practice.
- 40:46We have walked through 11 powers,
- 40:49acceptance, the picture, repetition,
- 40:52feeling, restoration, the night,
- 40:54>> [music]
- 40:55>> release, inner answers, decision,
- 40:58abundance, and harmony. And now [music]
- 41:01the 12th, which holds the others
- 41:03together. Stillness. Murphy returned
- 41:06again and again to the idea of the quiet
- 41:09mind. A state where the busy chatter
- 41:11drops, [music] the body relaxes, and the
- 41:14conscious mind becomes receptive.
- 41:17In that state, [music] suggestions go in
- 41:19smoothly, resistance falls, and the
- 41:22subconscious works without interference.
- 41:25Research on meditation and relaxation
- 41:27[music] points in a similar direction.
- 41:29Regular quiet practice is associated
- 41:32with lower stress, better [music]
- 41:33attention, and improved emotional
- 41:36regulation. You do not need to believe
- 41:38anything mystical for these benefits to
- 41:40be real.
- 41:42A different example, the pond. Throw a
- 41:45handful of pebbles into a pond [music]
- 41:47and the surface becomes chaotic. You
- 41:49cannot see the bottom.
- 41:51Wait, and the water settles, and
- 41:53suddenly you can see all the way down.
- 41:56>> [music]
- 41:56>> Your mind is the same. The clarity was
- 41:59always there. It was just disturbed.
- 42:03Why stillness amplifies [music]
- 42:05everything.
- 42:06In a noisy state, you plant seeds while
- 42:09arguing with yourself. In a still state,
- 42:11[music]
- 42:12you plant seeds with no resistance. That
- 42:15is why a 3-minute calm practice often
- 42:17outperforms an hour of strained effort.
- 42:21The stillness sequence.
- 42:23Step one, drop your shoulders and soften
- 42:27your jaw.
- 42:28Step two, slow your exhale so it is
- 42:31longer than your inhale.
- 42:33Step three, let your attention rest on
- 42:36the breath, and when a thought arrives,
- 42:39let it pass like a cloud.
- 42:41Step four, in the quiet, [music]
- 42:44hold a single feeling of thanks. That is
- 42:47all. It can be done for 2 minutes or 20.
- 42:51Practice, [music] the final stillness,
- 42:54about 8 minutes.
- 42:56Settle into a position where you can be
- 42:58comfortable [music]
- 42:58and awake.
- 43:00Breathe in for four counts. Hold for
- 43:03two.
- 43:04Breathe out for six.
- 43:07Again,
- 43:08in for four, hold for two,
- 43:11out for six.
- 43:13Let your body get heavy.
- 43:16Let your thoughts get quiet.
- 43:18If they come, let them pass.
- 43:21In this stillness, silently thank the
- 43:24part of you that has been working for
- 43:26you all your life, unnoticed.
- 43:29Say softly,
- 43:30"I trust the intelligence [music] within
- 43:32me. I cooperate with it.
- 43:35I am at peace."
- 43:37Rest here.
- 43:38There is nothing you need to do.
- 43:41Let me pull the thread through
- 43:42everything we have covered, so you can
- 43:44leave with a simple map.
- 43:46Acceptance chooses the seed. The picture
- 43:50gives it a form. Repetition waters it.
- 43:54Feeling roots it deep. Restoration keeps
- 43:57the soil healthy.
- 43:59The night works while you are away.
- 44:02Release pulls the weeds.
- 44:04Inner answers send up shoots you did not
- 44:06plan.
- 44:07Decision puts you on the right plot of
- 44:10land. Abundance sets how large the
- 44:13garden may grow. Harmony protects it
- 44:15from storms of friction.
- 44:17Stillness is the sunlight in which all
- 44:20of it grows.
- 44:21You do not need to master all 12. Nobody
- 44:24does. Choose two.
- 44:27Here is my suggestion for a first week.
- 44:29Pick one bridge sentence.
- 44:31Use the rule of three quiet moments.
- 44:34Add the night shift [music] instruction
- 44:36at bedtime. That is three of the 12 and
- 44:405 minutes a day.
- 44:41In week two, add the doorway technique.
- 44:44In week three, add the [music] closing
- 44:46of tabs. Build slowly.
- 44:49One last thing. You may notice
- 44:51resistance as you start. Old patterns do
- 44:54not [music] go quietly. That is normal.
- 44:57It is the sign that you are asking the
- 44:59system to update. Be patient and be
- 45:02consistent. You are not fixing a broken
- 45:05machine. You are learning to operate a
- 45:07very capable one.
- 45:09Thank you for spending these hours with
- 45:11me. If you made it here, you are already
- 45:14doing what most people never do. You are
- 45:16paying attention to the instrument that
- 45:19shapes everything else. [music]
- 45:21Let me tell you how to keep going. If
- 45:23you want a structured, readable version
- 45:25of these ideas that you can mark up and
- 45:27return to, I have two ebooks. The laws
- 45:30of the mind lays out the foundations,
- 45:32[music] how the conscious and
- 45:34subconscious interact, and the
- 45:36principles that govern what you plant
- 45:38and what grows. Commanding your
- 45:40subconscious mind is the practical
- 45:42companion
- 45:43>> [music]
- 45:43>> with step-by-step techniques for giving
- 45:45your deeper mind clear, effective
- 45:47instructions. And if you want both, the
- 45:50mindful skate bundle includes the two
- 45:52together at a better price than buying
- 45:54them one by one. Read the first for
- 45:56understanding, then use the second
- 45:58[music]
- 45:58to practice. The link is in the
- 46:00description and the pinned comment.
- 46:03Whether you pick one, both, or neither,
- 46:05the free practices in this video are
- 46:07yours [music] to keep. And if this video
- 46:10gave you even one useful idea, do three
- 46:13things for me. Like the video so it
- 46:15reaches more people. Subscribe to
- 46:17Mindful Books because new full
- 46:19audiobooks arrive regularly. And leave a
- 46:22comment with the power you are going to
- 46:24practice first. Writing it down is
- 46:26already a form of the ninth power.
- 46:29One final thought before we end. You
- 46:32were not born with a broken mind that
- 46:34needs fixing. You were born with 12
- 46:37working tools and no instruction manual.
- 46:40Today, you got a first draft of one. Use
- 46:43it gently. Use it daily. And be kind to
- 46:46yourself while you learn.
- 46:48Decode your mind. Rewire your habits.
- 46:52Unlock your potential.
- 46:54I will see you in the next video. Sleep
- 46:56well or have a wonderful day.
