8. 0:14served him with legal papers in a
9. 0:15multi-billion dollar fraud case now
10. 0:17under investigation by the government
11. 0:19stanford was not taken into custody and
12. 0:21he has not been charged with a crime but
13. 0:23the government says he and two other
14. 0:25executives and three of his companies
15. 0:27lured investors with rosy promises of
16. 0:29big returns on cds and other investments
17. 0:32stanford's father had this to say i
18. 0:34don't believe them at all i think that i
19. 0:37can't believe that they would be
20. 0:39involved in an illegal
21. 0:42scam to something to to milk investors
22. 0:45or take their money or their promising
23. 0:47returns illegal or astronomical returns
24. 0:50fallout from the case is already being
25. 0:52felt overseas especially in latin
26. 0:54america where the texas financier has a
27. 0:57significant presence nobody knows what's
28. 0:58going to happen but everybody's scared
29. 1:01and we need people to come and say
30. 1:02something to us about what
31. 1:05what is going on and what we have to do
32. 1:07until the fbi stepped in to help
33. 1:09thursday federal regulators had not been
34. 1:11able to find him i was very concerned
35. 1:13that i had heard from him i thought
36. 1:15surely he won't try to flee
37. 1:17and you know flee the country or try to
38. 1:19go hide or something you can't do that
39. 1:21the government has frozen stanford's
40. 1:22assets and a federal judge has appointed
41. 1:24a receiver to identify and protect
42. 1:26billions in assets worldwide
43. 1:29in an email to his employees last week
44. 1:31stanford vowed to fight any charges of
45. 1:33wrongdoing while also saying his company
46. 1:35was cooperating in the probe brian
