4. 0:06taking the stand and describing the
5. 0:08terror that unfolded on that fateful day
6. 0:10CBS News Miami's Jacqueline Quinn is
7. 0:12live outside the Broward County
8. 0:13Courthouse right now with more on some
9. 0:15pretty tough testimony Jacqueline
10. 0:18yeah Keith Betty we're expecting to hear
11. 0:20more of that as the jurors will be back
12. 0:22in the courtroom today in this trial but
13. 0:25Scott Peterson has already pleaded not
14. 0:27guilty he's hoping to clear these
15. 0:29charges against him in fact before this
16. 0:31trial even started he said he was
17. 0:33looking forward to it so that the truth
18. 0:34could be told
19. 0:44now in court so far we've heard the
20. 0:46Frantic calls Scott Peterson made when
21. 0:49he first heard these shots as well as
22. 0:51testimony from from survivors a student
23. 0:53and teacher that student says it was the
24. 0:55longest 20 minutes she experienced as
25. 0:57she waited for help Scott Peterson a
26. 1:00Broward County Deputy at the time was
27. 1:02assigned to the school he arrived
28. 1:03minutes after the shooting started
29. 1:05however did not enter the 1200 building
30. 1:07on the MSD campus where the gunman was
31. 1:09shooting and what is considered the
32. 1:11first for a resource officer Peterson is
33. 1:13on trial for 11 charges including
34. 1:15culpable negligence as Laura has argued
35. 1:17he couldn't tell where the shots were
36. 1:19coming from neither could others on the
37. 1:21scene while the prosecution told jurors
38. 1:23he was a highly trained officer with
39. 1:24Decades of experience
40. 1:26we are here
41. 1:28because my client was sacrificed
42. 1:33the evidence will show that he was
43. 1:34thrown under the bus the defendant will
44. 1:38never leave that Alcove
45. 1:42the shooter is in the building
46. 1:45and actually doesn't leave it until
47. 1:47almost
