- 0:00We love our Teslas, but they aren't
- 0:02necessarily perfect. There are features
- 0:05and equipment found in other
- 0:07manufacturers 'vehicles that we’d
- 0:09love to see in our Teslas, whether it's
- 0:11the Model 3 or Model Y. You’re
- 0:13watching Tesla Geek, and in this video,
- 0:15I’m taking you with me to the Paris
- 0:17Motor Show at Porte de Versailles to
- 0:19show you various features and equipment
- 0:21. Some are unusual, others useful, and
- 0:25some are downright mandatory. We wish
- 0:28Tesla would install them. on our cars.
- 0:31It won't necessarily be a top 10, but
- 0:33I'm going to show you a selection of
- 0:35little things I'd like to have in my
- 0:37Tesla. Something we don't have from
- 0:40Tesla but can get as an aftermarket
- 0:42add-on. Look, it's soft-close for doors
- 0:45that shut without slamming. On the 7-
- 0:49seater version, these are real seats
- 0:52with room for people of average height
- 0:56in the back, not just for children or
- 0:59anyone under 5'7 ", with a motorized
- 1:02seat release here to make third-row
- 1:04access easier. And in the back, look,
- 1:08I’m in the last row, sitting all the
- 1:09way back in the seat. My head is barely
- 1:12touching. If I scoot forward a bit,
- 1:16well, I fit right under this beautiful
- 1:18glass roof. And for legroom, look,
- 1:22I’m barely touching here. I can put
- 1:25my feet underneath, either there or
- 1:27there. So really, I have plenty of room
- 1:32with my 6'2" frame in the back of this
- 1:357-seater Lucid Gravity. Much more room
- 1:39than in the back of the 7-seater Tesla
- 1:42Model Y, and access is really made
- 1:43easier by the opening. Right here, you
- 1:48don't have to contort yourself; it’s
- 1:50really accessible, unlike the Model Y.
- 1:52What we don't have in Teslas and could
- 1:55be quite nice for rear passengers, look
- 1:57, we have a little button right here
- 1:59and we can raise an electric sunshade.
- 2:03And that, for the summer when you have
- 2:05kids, can be pretty great. I mean, we
- 2:07can do without it. I had my windows
- 2:09tinted on mine, but hey, this is just
- 2:12so well integrated. It's much better
- 2:14than those types of socks you put over
- 2:16the window, which I don't even think
- 2:18you can put on Teslas, given there's no
- 2:20window frame. And so here, we're
- 2:22looking at a really well-integrated
- 2:24solution that feels, well, it feels
- 2:26premium. So, why not have that in our
- 2:29Teslas too? We have a rear glove box
- 2:32and I think that's actually pretty cool
- 2:34. Especially since in our Tesla, we
- 2:36just have an empty space there. I mean,
- 2:37sure, it's an empty space, the person
- 2:39sitting in the middle can put their
- 2:41feet there. But why not have this extra
- 2:44storage space instead? In Teslas, we
- 2:47have a frunk. Here in the Lucid Air, we
- 2:49also have a very large and wide frunk.
- 2:52But look, we also have a sub-frunk that
- 2:55is truly enormous, gigantic. I'm not
- 2:58sure if you realize how big it is. We
- 3:01would really like to have more storage
- 3:03in Teslas too, especially in the RWD
- 3:05versions that don't have a front motor.
- 3:09I think there must be space there to
- 3:11have an even bigger frunk. So here in
- 3:15this Lucid Gravity, we have motorized
- 3:18frunk struts. You can add that
- 3:22aftermarket to our Teslas, but I think
- 3:24it's a real plus that could come
- 3:26standard on our cars. And as an option,
- 3:29right here, we have a little seat; we
- 3:31can actually sit in the frunk.
- 3:34Obviously, the opening was designed for
- 3:35it; it might seem like a gimmick, but
- 3:37when you're on a long trip with your
- 3:39kids and you need to change them,
- 3:40especially at a young age, you can do
- 3:42it in the car, but it's still quite
- 3:43complicated and tricky. Here, you can
- 3:46lay them down right here. You can sit
- 3:49them down to tie their laces, take off
- 3:51their boots, and put on clean shoes
- 3:52after a trip to the beach. So yeah, why
- 3:56not. And we would love to have this in
- 3:58the frunk too. Look, a 230V outlet
- 4:01right here with V2L. That could also be
- 4:05practical. And you can leave a device
- 4:08in the frunk safely while it charges;
- 4:10that's also pretty nice. Inductive
- 4:14charging. Imagine you're in your garage
- 4:17, you put down this pad, you drive over
- 4:19it, you park in your garage, and no
- 4:21need to plug in the car; it will charge
- 4:22wirelessly. Imagine this setup in
- 4:26parking spots, especially at
- 4:28supermarkets, places where you go to
- 4:29work out, run errands, and so on. No
- 4:33more need to plug in a cable; it
- 4:35happens wirelessly, truly without
- 4:37having to think about it. And this is
- 4:40made in France. It was Up and Charge
- 4:43that invented this. And so, to adjust
- 4:46to the ride height of each car, we have
- 4:48this cylindrical upper part that is
- 4:50motorized, moving up and down because
- 4:52with induction, it is really important
- 4:55to have the perfect distance between
- 4:57the receiver and the transmitter to
- 4:59maximize efficiency and limit losses.
- 5:02Several power levels are possible. 7 kW
- 5:04, that's practical for daily charging.
- 5:0724 kW will give it a bit more of a
- 5:10boost. Especially for living areas,
- 5:12it's quite good. They are planning up
- 5:14to 100 kW, so for fast charging, that
- 5:16will be very good. Ultimately, it's an
- 5:18induction charger that costs € 5,000,
- 5:20which is about the price of a DC
- 5:22charging station. And there is a
- 5:24receiver to be placed under the car
- 5:26that is between 1 and 2 cm thick. In
- 5:29our Tesla, on the main screen, we
- 5:31already have the turn signal reminders
- 5:32in video form that appear here. It's
- 5:35already good, but it would be much
- 5:36better. If it were right here,
- 5:39ultimately, when using the left mirror,
- 5:41having the image on the left, and when
- 5:44using the right mirror, having the
- 5:46image on the right, I find that it
- 5:48seems much more natural. Furthermore,
- 5:51thanks to these camera mirrors, we gain
- 5:53efficiency and range, and so, that is
- 5:55really something where I would find it
- 5:57much more appropriate to have the small
- 5:59screens there. Plus, look, here we have
- 6:02a long display strip. We are at Avatr,
- 6:05a Chinese brand. At Tesla, there is no
- 6:07screen behind the steering wheel, but
- 6:09here there is a large screen strip that
- 6:11allows for many things and can also
- 6:12replace a head-up display. So, in a
- 6:15Tesla, if we had this large strip both
- 6:17for the turn signals and to have a
- 6:19head-up display, well, that would be
- 6:20quite nice. What do you think? Well,
- 6:22here too, in the Skoda Enyaq, we have 7
- 6:25seats. So, is there more space than in
- 6:27the Model Y? 7 seats. Let's see.
- 6:29Already, the access seems simpler to me
- 6:32. We have more space here to get in.
- 6:36Regarding the roof, it's still okay
- 6:38despite my tall height. And when you
- 6:41want to close the seat, though,
- 6:42fortunately, we can slide this seat
- 6:44forward because otherwise, for my knees
- 6:46, I would be quite cramped. So we have
- 6:49a little bit more space and above all,
- 6:51it is easier than in the Model Y to get
- 6:53in and out. And you can get out well.
- 6:57There you go. Another feature we would
- 7:00like to see on Teslas—I will explain
- 7:02why later—is steer-by-wire. So, it's
- 7:06not immediately obvious here, but when
- 7:08it comes to the steering, there's no
- 7:09physical link between the steering
- 7:11wheel and the wheels. With the steering
- 7:14wheel, we have an angle sensor that
- 7:15sends information to a motor, and it's
- 7:17that motor that turns the wheels. What
- 7:19is it for? Well, the benefit of this
- 7:22system is that, depending on the speed,
- 7:23we can vary how the steering wheel
- 7:25responds to the wheels. When driving in
- 7:29city traffic at low speeds, we might be
- 7:32able to make a U-turn just by turning
- 7:35the wheel halfway. Whereas when we're
- 7:38at high speed on the highway, if we
- 7:40were to make a turn, it would turn the
- 7:42wheels much less. And that's going to
- 7:44be useful, especially on our Teslas
- 7:45with the buttons on the steering wheel
- 7:47for the turn signals. In any case, for
- 7:50me, with my generation of Model 3, it
- 7:52would allow us to go through all
- 7:54roundabouts, regardless of their speed
- 7:56or size, just by turning the wheel to
- 7:59that point, without having to make a
- 8:01full turn, because it's quite
- 8:03complicated to find the turn signal
- 8:05buttons once you change your hand
- 8:07positions on the wheel. So this
- 8:10steer-by-wire, which incidentally
- 8:12already exists on the Cybertruck, if we
- 8:14could have it on the Model 3 and Model
- 8:16Y, it would allow us to keep our hands
- 8:18in the same place on the wheel and
- 8:19would make maneuvering much easier. The
- 8:23improvement that is undoubtedly the
- 8:25most requested concerns charging speed,
- 8:27and that could come through 800V. And
- 8:31the best example we can find is here at
- 8:34Denza, notably with the Denza Z and the
- 8:36other one right here. They have, by the
- 8:40way, developed their own supercharger
- 8:43network with 1000 kW of power. Thanks
- 8:47to the 800V architecture and their
- 8:49technology, you can go from 10 to 80%in
- 8:51just 7 minutes. That's really
- 8:55impressive timing. Very, very short,
- 8:58barely enough time to get out of the
- 9:00car and go to the restroom. Boom, the
- 9:02car is ready. So this is something
- 9:05really expected by Tesla owners,
- 9:07especially those with a large battery,
- 9:09Long Range, since it takes 35 minutes
- 9:11to go from 10 to 80%. Whereas the small
- 9:16battery, Standard Range, with about 60
- 9:18kWh, goes from 10 to 80%in about 23
- 9:20minutes, which is already quite
- 9:22respectable, quite, well, pretty well
- 9:24within the norm. 35 minutes, however,
- 9:27for the Long Range, is starting to feel
- 9:29a bit long. Will Tesla continue with
- 9:32400V, or will they have to switch to
- 9:34800V like here at Lancia? Well, maybe
- 9:37one day we'll find out. I hope it
- 9:39happens and that Tesla can make an
- 9:42effort on this because it’s something
- 9:45many customers are waiting for,
- 9:47especially those who can't charge at
- 9:50home and rely on DC fast charging for
- 9:53their daily commute to work. And for
- 9:58those who drive a lot, who take many
- 10:00long trips like sales reps, charging to
- 10:0280%in 35 minutes versus 12 or 6 minutes
- 10:05is clearly not the same thing for them.
- 10:08>> As you know, at Tesla, we have a large
- 10:11panoramic glass roof that can quickly
- 10:13heat up in the sun during the summer.
- 10:16Well, in this Renault Scénic, we also
- 10:19have a large glass roof, but look, with
- 10:23a small button, we can electronically
- 10:26adjust the opacity, so it can go from a
- 10:29clear, transparent roof here that the
- 10:32sun shines through to an opaque glass
- 10:35roof. And so, this is something
- 10:40that’s actually quite cool and that
- 10:42we’d love to see in our Teslas too:
- 10:45having that effect where we can adjust
- 10:47the opacity ourselves, whether it’s
- 10:50for the sun or simply to not be seen
- 10:52from above and keep some privacy. What
- 10:55would be missing for Tesla to add that?
- 10:57The technology exists, and Renault has
- 11:00integrated it into its Scénic. We
- 11:03would also like a 360 ° view, like
- 11:04here in the Xpeng G9, to help us with
- 11:06maneuvers and a view that zooms in on
- 11:08each of the four wheels so we don't
- 11:10scratch our rims in parking lots.
- 11:13Before we wrap up, I have a little game
- 11:14for you. Content creators and YouTube
- 11:16channels are hidden in the background
- 11:18throughout this video. Let me know in
- 11:21the comments who you managed to
- 11:22identify. So there you have it, an
- 11:25overview of all the features, options,
- 11:27and equipment, some a bit unusual and
- 11:30some not. Sometimes very useful, that
- 11:32we can find in the competition and
- 11:34don't have at Tesla. If you find the
- 11:38voice I lost during the show, don't
- 11:39hesitate to tell me so I know where to
- 11:42get it back. I hope you liked this
- 11:44video. Don't hesitate to tell me which
- 11:47of these solutions or pieces of
- 11:49equipment you liked the most. The one
- 11:53you would really like to have on your
- 11:55Tesla that you're missing. Don't forget
- 11:59to subscribe so you don't miss my next
- 12:00videos. Very happy to have taken a tour
- 12:03of this show this year. There was still
- 12:06so, so much more. And I'll see you on
- 12:08my site teslagekig.fr for the delivery
- 12:11checklist. A selection of accessories
- 12:13for Model Y and Model 3 and promo codes
- 12:15for charging. And I'll see you soon for
- 12:18a future video. If you liked this video
