- 0:03Good afternoon everybody.
- 0:05UH BEFORE I START I would like to ask a
- 0:08simple question to all of you. How many
- 0:10of you know that doing exercise is good
- 0:12for health?
- 0:16Fantastic. Okay. Now stay stay like this
- 0:19please for a minute for 10 seconds 5
- 0:21seconds. So everybody knows it's good to
- 0:24do exercise for health. Okay. Now second
- 0:26question. How many of you do it? Please
- 0:29keep your hands up. A job is job. Right?
- 0:33So that's what I'm going to talk today
- 0:35that knowing is nothing and doing is
- 0:37everything. Exercise is good for your
- 0:40health. Almost everybody know it. But
- 0:41when I asked our heads drop now that's
- 0:44what happened. You know exercise will
- 0:47make us fit and that is the topic is
- 0:49today. Nothing is really to make it in
- 0:52our mind in our brain. We always get
- 0:54ideas. We see a gap. So many times we
- 0:57think you know this could be better this
- 0:59could have been better but we just pass
- 1:02that. The difference between ordinary
- 1:05people and people who really make a
- 1:06difference is this that you don't pass
- 1:08that gap. They understand that gap and
- 1:11they say okay I'm going to make sure
- 1:13I'll create an action plan on that. Now
- 1:16a book on swimming cannot teach you
- 1:17swimming unless you get into water. You
- 1:20can read anything about swimming but you
- 1:22won't. Similarly, an idea in your head
- 1:25is not going to help you till you get
- 1:27into action. Action does the work guys.
- 1:30Ideas don't. That is very very important
- 1:32that whenever you get an idea and you
- 1:34qualify that idea, you should talk about
- 1:37actions which we we are going to do
- 1:39around that. Now you know for example
- 1:43you notice a gap that every student want
- 1:45to do well in in that is something we
- 1:48can practice we can learn. Okay. Now
- 1:51this is the gap and then you generate an
- 1:53idea around that and you say okay I'll
- 1:55take that action let's create a
- 1:56studentled program group with a faculty
- 1:59member and practice all this now that
- 2:03idea that gap which is there that
- 2:05students need to be good in their
- 2:07interviews they need to learn that but
- 2:10that gap can be created by an idea okay
- 2:12let's create a group and practice it and
- 2:14then from that idea to get into an
- 2:16action plan useful ideas can be small a
- 2:20classroom a process or whatever Whatever
- 2:21it is until it is not put into action it
- 2:23is not going to give me results
- 2:25[clears throat] you know and noticing
- 2:27the gap gave me something to think about
- 2:30when I started my career you know when I
- 2:32started my business somebody asked me so
- 2:35how it is different than being in a job
- 2:37and in business and you know my office
- 2:40answer was you know there's no boss and
- 2:42he said what is the most difficult thing
- 2:44I said there's no boss
- 2:46now because there's nobody to guide you
- 2:48there's nobody to correct you there's no
- 2:49one to keep you on discipline
- 2:51I was very happy that I can do what I
- 2:53want to do now but I was also not happy
- 2:55that and that gap gave me my business
- 2:58idea that there are so many
- 2:59entrepreneurs who have nobody to guide
- 3:02you who have nobody and they're on their
- 3:04[clears throat] own young entrepreneurs
- 3:05midsize entrepreneurs bigger
- 3:07entrepreneurs and then we did an action
- 3:09plan and I decided to become a business
- 3:11coach I decided to guide these
- 3:13entrepreneurs I made an organization
- 3:14around that and that's what we have been
- 3:17doing with various organizations today
- 3:18but why not I'm trying to share here is
- 3:21because I identified that gap and then I
- 3:24qualified that gap by talking to a lot
- 3:25of entrepreneurs and they said yes we
- 3:27feel that gap and then I created an
- 3:29action plan and build business from
- 3:31that. Now that is very very important
- 3:33you know
- 3:35uh a lot of speakers are talked about
- 3:36this you know when you talk about
- 3:38something it's not sufficient I want to
- 3:42become fitter and a lot of speakers said
- 3:45okay I'll start with 10 now that was a
- 3:47measurable action plan that is very
- 3:50important you want to get fitter instead
- 3:53of saying I want to get fitter say I
- 3:54will walk 20 minutes every day at least
- 3:57five times a week and in January I'll do
- 3:5910 kilome in next year I do marathon
- 4:02when you create milestones with action
- 4:05you're going to achieve that uh we
- 4:07should improve strength and interview
- 4:08skills I already discussed create a
- 4:10group start an action plan practice it
- 4:12and say okay by so and so time we are
- 4:14going to do a you know uh exercise
- 4:17around the to practice it and we will
- 4:19demonstrate it now we should do
- 4:22something has no owner on our deadline
- 4:24you know it's very common thing let's do
- 4:26something when I say let's do something
- 4:29there's no owner and there's No
- 4:31deadline. Whenever you want to do
- 4:33something, I'll give you give four
- 4:35things to your idea. Very simple. One
- 4:38action. This is my idea. I identify the
- 4:41gap. What is the action I'm going to
- 4:43take? Once you decide on action, the
- 4:45next thing is how you going to measure
- 4:47it. It has to be a measurable action
- 4:50because by saying I want to be fitter is
- 4:52not going to help you. By creating a
- 4:55measurement around that that I want to
- 4:56lose 5 kg in next 3 months, you're going
- 4:58to measure it. Second be an owner of
- 5:01that idea and last is of course state.
- 5:04Once you do this from point A to point B
- 5:07you [clears throat] are going to achieve
- 5:08this. These are some example I want to
- 5:11read more. Okay I'll read 10 pages every
- 5:13night before sleeping or we need a
- 5:15practical exposure. I'm going to do
- 5:17this. These are few ideas that look put
- 5:19whatever you want to do action put a
- 5:21measility and a push time. I'm going to
- 5:24do this by at this time. Now I would
- 5:28urge all of you by the end of the day
- 5:30you have heard so many speakers and we
- 5:33are talking about making your life
- 5:35better. Choose one idea and create an
- 5:38action around that. Whatever ideas in
- 5:41your mind which is there and you have
- 5:42been thinking is it true can I do it can
- 5:44I not do it those self-doubt don't worry
- 5:48you cannot learn swimming until you jump
- 5:51in swimming pool and when you jump in
- 5:53swimming pool you're going to have your
- 5:54red eyes you're going to have you're
- 5:56going to gulp that water you're going to
- 5:58have you know a lot of stuff happening
- 6:00when you come out of it but that's how
- 6:02you swim so get into that put a date
- 6:05these action plans this is the date and
- 6:07start working on that now Before we move
- 6:10forward, you know,
- 6:12I would like to ask you a simple thing.
- 6:14What is funny about this statement
- 6:18about this statement? Is there anything
- 6:19funny?
- 6:21What's funny? Can anyone tell me
- 6:24is the same shirt is the same?
- 6:28You know what I want to talk to you
- 6:29right now? What stops us?
- 6:33Why we are not able to create an action
- 6:35plan and follow it? It's very common.
- 6:38You know we always find out excuses
- 6:40outside and this simple grammar I'm sure
- 6:43many of you have used this
- 6:50until
- 6:5842 42 44 and we have fantastic ecosystem
- 7:02in India you know today we are plus and
- 7:04after that we can we are at dealers here
- 7:07>> so there's endless Yes, you can get to
- 7:08any place until you acknowledge no I'm
- 7:10getting trapped then you will take
- 7:13action and you should have thought you
- 7:14know generally what happens right from
- 7:17the childhood we have always been
- 7:20thought like this that it is not my
- 7:22fault it's outside thought and we come
- 7:24complaining all this time or we create
- 7:25excuse you know we all have small kids
- 7:29one and a half year one year when they
- 7:31start walking there's very common thing
- 7:33happens they start walking they get
- 7:35imbalance and generally in the groin
- 7:36loop when we are you know seeing them
- 7:38with a they they you know hit the center
- 7:41table
- 7:48and we hit that table and tell that kid
- 7:50it's not your fault and when we hit the
- 7:52table it gets up most of the time we do
- 7:55this and you all would have experienced
- 7:57this if you have kids or you would have
- 7:59experienced with you know your friends
- 8:01kid and that kids understand that okay
- 8:03it's not my fault it is table's fault
- 8:06next time that kid hits the wall and we
- 8:08know the pity of the wall. This kid
- 8:11grows up and say school is not good, my
- 8:13clothes have gone bad, my boss is not
- 8:15good and that's what we all become. We
- 8:17have to break this. You know there are
- 8:19two kinds of people. People
- 8:22who complain or who create excuses and
- 8:24their idea can never get into action or
- 8:26people who are initiative oriented. You
- 8:28have to ask yourself what you are. Are
- 8:30you a complaining person? outside forces
- 8:33stop you or are you a person who is
- 8:35initiative oriented and you say okay let
- 8:37me create an action plan let me try this
- 8:39I want to try this because I'm confident
- 8:42about this once you start thinking in
- 8:44this terms initiated right I'll give a
- 8:47small example we all know
- 8:51Kirani is a super cop of India and many
- 8:55years back she was to become
- 8:57commissioner of Delhi now she was not
- 8:59made commissioner of Delhi she was made
- 9:01commissioner of the hardship. Somebody
- 9:03else was made commission of Delhi. Now
- 9:05there were all reasons to [snorts]
- 9:08complain or get demotivated. But what
- 9:10she she told came to the hardship and
- 9:14she started improving the purposes there
- 9:17life of inmates. She took so many
- 9:19initiative so that when these people who
- 9:21are there when they go out how they
- 9:23going to earn she started you know uh
- 9:26teaching them computers, accounting,
- 9:28making small food items which are still
- 9:30sold there. What happened? Because of
- 9:32this initiative, he's sort of
- 9:33complaining that baby brought Maxis her
- 9:37what? Okay. Then [clears throat] she is
- 9:40still in the system. She goes to various
- 9:43country and talk about this how to
- 9:44improve the life of mate. You don't
- 9:47remember that other commissioner. He was
- 9:48also a great guy. But what happens when
- 9:50you take initiative on the idea and you
- 9:53stop complaining? You start increasing
- 9:55your influence. You start increasing
- 9:57your circle. you become successful,
- 10:00popular and of course it gives you
- 10:03immense satisfaction. I met him with a
- 10:05few years back and I was talking to her.
- 10:07It was you know those 10 years were like
- 10:09a lesson life lesson for me. What she
- 10:12told me you know read these guys
- 10:14understand what they did differently.
- 10:16Okay. Now
- 10:19what does a complaint do? A complaint
- 10:21identifies what is wrong. I love one of
- 10:23the speaker when he said you know
- 10:25burnness is only seen when something
- 10:27goes wrong that's what complain is all
- 10:29about what are you doing by complaining
- 10:31or by giving excuse you are identifying
- 10:33what is wrong but when you take
- 10:37initiative you are saying what can I
- 10:39contribute or what can I do ask yourself
- 10:43are you going to make things better for
- 10:45yourself to start with your family there
- 10:49for your society maybe I really don't
- 10:51know what you have to Start taking that
- 10:53one step when you say come over here
- 10:56okay let me start exercise let me
- 10:58control my food that's the smallest
- 11:00example I can give you because that's a
- 11:02very good example we all do okay someone
- 11:05do something is never going to happen
- 11:09you have to do it you it's your idea you
- 11:12identified that you have to create that
- 11:13action plan what stops us from taking
- 11:16initiative just quick thought and when I
- 11:19ask people what stops us taking from
- 11:21initiative I get answers fear of
- 11:23failure. I get answer this is not my
- 11:26job. I get answer I'm not authorized to
- 11:28do this. My answer is I don't have
- 11:31knowledge about this. I don't know how
- 11:33to do it. What should I do?
- 11:36They are coming from initiative era but
- 11:38history if you look at history people
- 11:40who have taken initiative they have
- 11:43brought the difference in their own life
- 11:46in society or wherever that they have
- 11:48worked and they are the people we talk
- 11:49about and initiative is something you
- 11:51know nobody else can take you can only
- 11:53take initiative for yourself. So with
- 11:56this thought that you know if you want
- 11:58to really make ideas
- 12:01actual and make them happen it is very
- 12:03important that you have to stop giving
- 12:05excuses complaining getting influenced
- 12:07by outside negative forces and start
- 12:10taking initiative that is what is in
- 12:13your hand and you start walking trust me
- 12:16you'll be able to achieve your goal
- 12:18maybe sometimes you're slow sometimes
- 12:20you're faster and I want to leave this a
- 12:22wonderful video where you will see All
- 12:25these reasons which I just said what
- 12:27stops us taking initiative
- 12:31[clears throat]
- 12:32you know
- 12:34I'm not capable or I don't have
- 12:36knowledge to do this this little boy
- 12:38forget all those things and he said okay
- 12:40let me try and do this and see what
- 12:43happens can you just play the video on
- 12:44the next slide please
- 12:48go back and you have to click
- 12:55between the slide only.
- 13:12Some of you may have seen it. See it
- 13:14again with this perspective. Okay, that
- 13:16one.
- 13:25What the hell?
- 13:31Okay.
- 13:41That's all.
- 14:03was
- 14:21I Listen.
- 14:24>> What's going on?
- 14:35Oh sh.

- 15:27[music]
- 15:28[singing]
- 15:34[singing and music]
- 15:35Heat. Heat.
- 15:39[music]
- 15:41[singing]
- 15:45[music]
- 15:47[singing]
- 15:50>> [music]
- 15:54>> Anyway [clears throat] you saw that you
- 15:55know and you know when you start taking
- 15:57initiative everybody will start working
- 16:00the small kid took the initiative
- 16:02without having power it was not his job
- 16:04he was not capital but you see everybody
- 16:06started joining him and the work is done
- 16:09so what will you do and by when will
- 16:11bring that desired ideas are as good as
- 16:14when you start taking action on that
- 16:16with that I sign off from GGI thank you
- 16:18Thank you very much and all the best.
- 16:20[applause]
