- 0:31touches every one of us our daily

- 0:36Lives moving forward exactly from the
- 0:40moment we wake up to the moment we fall
- 0:42asleep at night we follow certain habits
- 0:44that Define our day but tell me Daniel
- 0:48what exactly does a typical day look
- 0:50like for different people that's a great
- 0:53question daily routines can look very
- 0:55different depending on your lifestyle
- 0:58but they're made up of the little things
- 0:59we do regularly throughout today's
- 1:02episode we'll be sharing our own
- 1:03routines from the way we start our
- 1:05mornings to how we wind down in the
- 1:08evening that's right and along the way
- 1:11we'll talk about how having a routine
- 1:13can help you feel more balanced and in
- 1:15control it's all about finding what
- 1:17works best for you exactly but before we

- 1:24vocabulary expert Crystal after each
- 1:27section she'll break down key words and
- 1:29phrases to to help you grasp the
- 1:31language better Crystal we're excited to
- 1:34have you with us today thanks Daniel I'm
- 1:37happy to be here and I can't wait to
- 1:39help our listeners break down some
- 1:41vocabulary along the way wonderful let's
- 1:45begin with the morning
- 1:47routine so as a student my mornings are
- 1:49pretty structured I usually wake up
- 1:52around 700 a.m. and I take a moment to
- 1:54stretch and breathe before I get out of
- 1:56bed it's a gentle way to start the day
- 1:59and it helps me feel more alert then I
- 2:02head to the bathroom to brush my teeth
- 2:04and wash my face it's a refreshing start
- 2:08mhm that sounds nice I wake up a bit
- 2:11earlier around 6:30 a.m. since my job
- 2:14requires me to start early the first
- 2:17thing I do is drink a glass of water to
- 2:19hydrate and then like you I brush my
- 2:22teeth and wash my face it really sets
- 2:25the tone for the day ahead exactly
- 2:28hydrating first thing in the morning is
- 2:30such a good habit after that I have a
- 2:32light breakfast like oatmeal or toast
- 2:35just something simple to get my energy
- 2:37up before
- 2:38classes breakfast is essential for me
- 2:40too I usually go for eggs with toast or
- 2:44sometimes I mix it up with a smoothy
- 2:46after breakfast I take a few minutes to
- 2:49check my emails and review my to-do list
- 2:51so I know what's on the agenda for the
- 2:53day uh-huh I do the same I check my
- 2:57class schedule and make sure I'm ready
- 2:58for the day ahead
- 3:00it's always nice to feel organized
- 3:02before jumping into things absolutely
- 3:05having that calm organized start to the
- 3:07day really makes a difference now to
- 3:10help our listeners dive deeper into the
- 3:12vocabulary we've just used let's hand it
- 3:15over to Crystal Crystal could you walk
- 3:18us through some of the key terms from
- 3:20our morning routines absolutely Jennifer
- 3:24let's take a closer look at some key
- 3:26vocabulary from your conversation
- 3:30stretch to extend your body or limbs to
- 3:33loosen up your muscles which Jennifer
- 3:35does to ease into the day hydrate to
- 3:39give your body water Daniel starts his
- 3:42day with a glass of water to hydrate
- 3:45himself light breakfast a small simple
- 3:48meal in the morning like oatmeal or
- 3:50toast Jennifer prefers a light breakfast
- 3:53to get her energy up for the day to-do
- 3:56list a list of tasks you plan to
- 3:59complete during the day Daniel reviews
- 4:02his to-do list every morning to stay
- 4:05organized those are some useful terms
- 4:07from your morning routine now back to
- 4:10you Jennifer thanks Crystal I think
- 4:14understanding these terms in context
- 4:15really helps our listeners absorb them
- 4:17better absolutely and now that we've got
- 4:20the morning covered it's a great time to
- 4:23move on to the afternoon routine shall
- 4:25we Jennifer sounds perfect Daniel
- 4:28afternoons for for me are when I'm most
- 4:30focused I usually have classes or study
- 4:33sessions and I try to take it one step
- 4:35at a time if it's a long study session I
- 4:39make sure to take short breaks to
- 4:40stretch and move around it helps keep my
- 4:43mind fresh H that's a smart approach my
- 4:47afternoons are usually the busiest part
- 4:49of my day with meetings or Project work
- 4:52but like you I make sure to take breaks
- 4:55even if they're just a few minutes I
- 4:57find that stepping away from the desk to
- 4:59stretch or get a snack really helps me
- 5:02recharge exactly brakes are so important
- 5:05even if they're brief after lunch I
- 5:08regroup and prepare for the second half
- 5:10of the day lunch is typically something
- 5:13light like a salad or a sandwich I don't
- 5:16like to eat anything too heavy as it can
- 5:18make me feel sluggish I agree lunch is
- 5:22usually around noon for me and I like to
- 5:24step away from work completely my go-to
- 5:27is something like a quinoa salad with
- 5:29veggie or a turkey sandwich keeping it
- 5:31healthy helps me avoid that
- 5:33mid-afternoon energy slump mhm that
- 5:36sounds like a great option after lunch I
- 5:39tackle my bigger assignments making sure
- 5:41to get them done while I still have
- 5:43energy it feels good to wrap up those
- 5:46important tasks before the day winds
- 5:48down yeah I do the same after lunch I
- 5:52focus on key projects that require my
- 5:55attention and try to knock them out
- 5:57while I'm still feeling productive all
- 5:59right Crystal could you take us through
- 6:01the vocabulary from our afternoon
- 6:03routines certainly Daniel let's break
- 6:06down some of the key
- 6:09terms focused giving your full attention
- 6:12to something like how Jennifer stays
- 6:14focused during her study sessions
- 6:17recharge to regain energy which Daniel
- 6:20does by taking short breaks throughout
- 6:22the day regroup taking a moment to
- 6:26organize your thoughts and prepare for
- 6:28the next part of the day
- 6:30sluggish feeling slow and lacking energy
- 6:33which can happen after a heavy lunch but
- 6:36both Jennifer and Daniel avoid that by
- 6:38eating light knockout an informal phrase
- 6:42meaning to complete tasks or finish work
- 6:44efficiently Daniel said he likes to
- 6:46knock out his key projects while he's
- 6:48still
- 6:49productive energy slump this refers to a
- 6:52dip in energy usually in the afternoon
- 6:55after lunch Daniel mentioned avoiding an
- 6:57energy slump by eating a healthy lunch
- 7:00those are the key words for the
- 7:02afternoon now let's shift to the evening
- 7:04routine back to you Jennifer thanks
- 7:07Crystal that was really helpful it's
- 7:10amazing how just a few key words can
- 7:11really make things clearer exactly I
- 7:15love how practical these terms are you
- 7:17can use them every
- 7:19day all right let's wind things down by
- 7:22talking about our evening
- 7:23routines evenings are when I like to
- 7:26unwind and relax after a busy day of
- 7:28classes after dinner I usually take a
- 7:31short walk or do some light stretching
- 7:33to help me de-stress it's a peaceful way
- 7:36to close out the day mhm I totally
- 7:39relate to that after work I make time to
- 7:42relax too whether it's listening to
- 7:44music or going for a walk dinner is
- 7:47usually around 700 p.m. for me and it's
- 7:49something simple but satisfying I like
- 7:52grilled salmon with veggies or a stir
- 7:54fry with
- 7:55rice that sounds delicious my dinner is
- 7:59usually something quick and easy like
- 8:01pasta with vegetables or a rice bowl
- 8:04once dinner is done I always make sure
- 8:06to brush my teeth and wash my face it's
- 8:09such a small part of my routine but it
- 8:11helps me feel refreshed and ready for
- 8:13bed oh definitely brushing my teeth and
- 8:17washing my face feels like pressing the
- 8:19reset button after a long day it's a
- 8:22simple way to shift into relaxation mode
- 8:25after that I usually wind down with a
- 8:27book or a cup of herbal tea before bed
- 8:30uh-huh that sounds really calming I also
- 8:33avoid screens before bed instead
- 8:35spending some time reading or listening
- 8:37to music I aim to get to bed around 10
- 8:40p.m. so I'm well rested for the next day
- 8:44same here I stick to a consistent
- 8:46bedtime too around 10:30 p.m. and it's
- 8:50amazing how much better I feel the next
- 8:52day when I get a full night's
- 8:53sleep all right crystal one last time
- 8:57could you walk us through the vocabulary
- 8:59from from our evening
- 9:00routine absolutely Jennifer let's go
- 9:03over the key phrases from your evening
- 9:07routines unwind to relax and let go of
- 9:11stress like what Jennifer and Daniel do
- 9:14after a busy day reset button a metaphor
- 9:18for starting fresh which Daniel
- 9:20mentioned when talking about brushing
- 9:21his teeth and washing his face wind down
- 9:25similar to unwind it means to gradually
- 9:28slow down and prepare for Sleep herbal
- 9:31tea a caffeine-free tea that helps you
- 9:34relax which Daniel drinks before bed and
- 9:37that wraps up the vocabulary for today
