  1. 0:07Hello and welcome to day five of
  2. 0:09Lifebook's 30-day challenge. So happy to
  3. 0:11have you here with me today as we
  4. 0:13explore one of my favorite Lifebook
  5. 0:15categories and one that's often
  6. 0:16overlooked, your intellectual life.
  7. 0:21You know, as human beings, we don't have
  8. 0:23four rows of razor-sharp teeth that can
  9. 0:25bite through steel.
  10. 0:27We can't see in the dark, we can't run
  11. 0:2975 miles an hour, and we can't change
  12. 0:32the color of our skin to match our
  13. 0:34environment. We're human beings and that
  14. 0:37means that our minds are our basic tools
  15. 0:40of survival.
  16. 0:42It's our intellectual abilities that
  17. 0:44define us as a species. Our ability to
  18. 0:47think is what keeps us alive.
  19. 0:50Everything we have in our civilization,
  20. 0:52from computers to mailboxes, from
  21. 0:55refrigerators to books, the chair you're
  22. 0:57sitting on, the clothes I'm wearing,
  23. 1:00everything was brought into existence by
  24. 1:03the process of thinking.
  25. 1:06For humans, it's all about what we have
  26. 1:08in between our ears. This is the reason
  27. 1:10we're here.
  28. 1:12But there's a very, very interesting
  29. 1:15complication to all this.
  30. 1:17Thinking is a choice.
  31. 1:19We can choose to think or not to think.
  32. 1:23We can choose to face an issue or not
  33. 1:25face it. We can choose to focus on
  34. 1:27solving a problem or just not bother.
  35. 1:31We're not obligated to monitor the
  36. 1:32beating of our hearts, that happens
  37. 1:34automatically. But when it comes to
  38. 1:36thinking, nature has given us an
  39. 1:38extraordinary responsibility.
  40. 1:40In just about any situation, we can make
  41. 1:43our consciousness brighter or dimmer.
  42. 1:47We literally have a choice to think or
  43. 1:50not to think.
  44. 1:52And choosing to think is only half the
  45. 1:54battle. The other half is choosing what
  46. 1:57to think about.
  47. 1:59What you choose to think about is
  48. 2:00incredibly important.
  49. 2:02Because thoughts become things.
  50. 2:06Everything starts with a thought.
  51. 2:08Every great work of art, every building,
  52. 2:11every invention, everything in our
  53. 2:13entire civilization began with a thought
  54. 2:16and was brought into existence through a
  55. 2:18process of thinking. And in exactly the
  56. 2:21same way,
  57. 2:22everything in your life began with a
  58. 2:25thought and was brought into existence
  59. 2:28by a process of thinking.
  60. 2:30Your education,
  61. 2:32which school do I want to go to? Do I
  62. 2:34even want to go to school?
  63. 2:36Your relationships, is this person
  64. 2:39really the right one for me?
  65. 2:41Your career, your level of health and
  66. 2:43fitness, the house you've chosen to live
  67. 2:46in, everything in your life,
  68. 2:49thoughts become things. What you choose
  69. 2:52to think about expands and creates your
  70. 2:55life.
  71. 2:56What you think about manifests in your
  72. 2:59reality.
  73. 3:00We all manifest something. We are all
  74. 3:02creators of our own reality. The
  75. 3:04question is, are we creating our world
  76. 3:07consciously or are we doing it by
  77. 3:10default? See, most people live their
  78. 3:13lives with their thoughts on autopilot,
  79. 3:16thinking just barely enough to get by.
  80. 3:19Now, they're still going to be creating
  81. 3:20their worlds through their thoughts, but
  82. 3:22if you live in a mental fog, you kind of
  83. 3:25create your world by accident.
  84. 3:28One of the most powerful single concepts
  85. 3:30that you could ever understand is this.
  86. 3:33You can take control of your thinking.
  87. 3:37You can begin thinking deliberately,
  88. 3:40guiding your thoughts and actions toward
  89. 3:42a clearly defined vision for your life.
  90. 3:45And if you do that, the things that you
  91. 3:47think about over and over are going to
  92. 3:50start to show up.
  93. 3:52Now, I'd like to share a clip from the
  94. 3:54Classical Lifebook program that outlines
  95. 3:57how I view my own intellectual life.
  96. 4:00Now, everyone's stuff is going to be
  97. 4:01different, but we can learn from each
  98. 4:03other and not have to reinvent the
  99. 4:05wheel. So, I want to share my values
  100. 4:07with you on my own intellectual life
  101. 4:10right now.
  102. 4:35I'd like to start by sharing my
  103. 4:37foundational beliefs with you. I've got
  104. 4:39four beliefs that make up the premise
  105. 4:41for my intellectual life.
  106. 4:43The first is this.
  107. 4:46My mind is my greatest asset.
  108. 4:50All my goals, all my dreams, all my
  109. 4:53aspirations rest on my ability to think
  110. 4:56in a high-quality way.
  111. 4:59So, I really need to value my mind. I
  112. 5:01need to exercise it. I need to nurture
  113. 5:03it. I I really need to take care of it.
  114. 5:07Here's my second belief, and this is an
  115. 5:09interesting one.
  116. 5:11The best single indicator of true
  117. 5:13intelligence is how intelligently you
  118. 5:16live your life.
  119. 5:18To me, true intelligence isn't about an
  120. 5:20IQ test. It's not about an SAT score.
  121. 5:24It's not about grades in school or
  122. 5:25anything like that. And this is the way
  123. 5:28our culture tends to view intelligence.
  124. 5:30I think it's way too narrow.
  125. 5:33What good is intelligence if you can't
  126. 5:35use it to make your life better?
  127. 5:37It doesn't matter how smart you are. If
  128. 5:39your life is a wreck, how smart are you
  129. 5:41really?
  130. 5:42Living a successful, balanced,
  131. 5:45intelligent life in our culture, that's
  132. 5:47a highly complex task and it requires
  133. 5:49some deep thinking.
  134. 5:51When you see a person who's living that
  135. 5:52way, you can know you're looking at a
  136. 5:54great accomplishment. You're looking at
  137. 5:56a really smart person there.
  138. 5:59Here's my third belief.
  139. 6:02I can choose to think
  140. 6:04and I can choose what to think about.
  141. 6:06Again, it's choice. It's
  142. 6:08self-responsibility, the Life Book
  143. 6:10mantra.
  144. 6:13Humans can choose to think or not and I
  145. 6:15choose to think.
  146. 6:17And I also choose exactly what I want to
  147. 6:18think about. I can't control all the
  148. 6:21events in the outside world, obviously,
  149. 6:23but I can control my inner world. I can
  150. 6:25control my thinking. I can take control
  151. 6:28of that process and begin thinking
  152. 6:30deliberately and guide my thoughts
  153. 6:33toward a clearly defined image of my
  154. 6:35ideal future.
  155. 6:37I can be purposeful with my thinking
  156. 6:40and I can manage my thoughts to create
  157. 6:42the world I want.
  158. 6:44I can build the image, the mental image
  159. 6:48of what I want. I can hold onto that
  160. 6:50image and just stay in it and think
  161. 6:53about it every day and if I do, I know
  162. 6:55I'm going to attract that into my life.
  163. 6:59And that brings me to my next belief.
  164. 7:02What I think about, I bring about. My
  165. 7:06thoughts become things.
  166. 7:08This is called the law of attraction.
  167. 7:11I know that what I think about over and
  168. 7:14over absolutely programs itself into my
  169. 7:18nervous system.
  170. 7:19It's what I'll create. It's what I'll
  171. 7:21experience in my life. It's what I'll
  172. 7:23become. It's like magic. It's like
  173. 7:25casting a spell on myself and then
  174. 7:27sending it out to the universe.
  175. 7:29And by the way, that spell can be good
  176. 7:31or evil, so you got to be careful. You
  177. 7:33can make yourself well with your
  178. 7:35thoughts and you can make yourself sick
  179. 7:36with your thoughts. It just all depends
  180. 7:38on what you think about.
  181. 7:41Your Life Book is going to be the best
  182. 7:43tool you could ever have for activating
  183. 7:46the law of attraction and manifesting
  184. 7:48everything you want in your life.
  185. 7:50Right now, this week, you're in the
  186. 7:52process of thinking through every
  187. 7:54important area of your life, defining
  188. 7:57it, illustrating it, living with it,
  189. 8:00flooding yourself with it on a daily
  190. 8:02basis.
  191. 8:04That image is going to be so clear, so
  192. 8:06powerful
  193. 8:08that eventually the vision and the
  194. 8:10reality are going to become one.
  195. 8:19Your mind is incredibly important. Honor
  196. 8:23it. Value it. Choose to think
  197. 8:27and think about everything that's
  198. 8:29important to you.
  199. 8:31Work hard to develop your mind and let
  200. 8:33it take you where you want to go.
  201. 8:35You can use your magnificent, glorious
  202. 8:38ability to think to literally manifest
  203. 8:41everything you want in your life.
  204. 8:44Well, that's it for today. I look
  205. 8:46forward to seeing you tomorrow and we're
  206. 8:48going to dive deeper into how to enrich
  207. 8:51your intellectual life and use that big,
  208. 8:53beautiful brain of yours. Until then,
  209. 8:56have a great day and I'll see you
  210. 8:58tomorrow.
