Full transcript
- 0:04hello hello everyone welcome to another
- 0:06episode of the Galo time with B today we
- 0:08will be learning how to ask questions in
- 0:11the gallog and someone asked me if they
- 0:15could get a copy of these slides maybe
- 0:18like a PDF form so that you can print
- 0:20them out and then write on them when you
- 0:22are studying I have uploaded them onto
- 0:26my stand store so you are able to
- 0:28download them if you would like the link
- 0:30to that is in the description so let's
- 0:33go ahead and get started here is today's
- 0:35agenda today we will be learning the
- 0:37different theala question words then we
- 0:40will be learning how to use them to make
- 0:43a question formation we will also be
- 0:46practicing some the gallog responses and
- 0:49learning some common questions and then
- 0:50doing a lot of practice questions as
- 0:52well so go ahead and grab a piece of
- 0:54paper and something to write with so
- 0:56that we can get started so here are some
- 0:58talo question words there are a lot and
- 1:01then we're going to be talking about
- 1:02them and then some variations as well so
- 1:06let's just go through them they don't
- 1:07have the translation just yet but as we
- 1:10go through them the translation will pop
- 1:12up as well so an
- 1:21banoo Al and ba so these are all of the
- 1:25question words that we're going to be
- 1:27talking about
- 1:28today the very first question word that
- 1:31we're going to learn is an so that means
- 1:34what an if you have ever heard a native
- 1:38the gal speaker uh they might sometimes
- 1:41say an as a filler in their conversation
- 1:45like if they can't think of the word
- 1:46they
- 1:49say so it's like sometimes it can mean
- 1:52um or the the thing but technically it
- 1:55means
- 1:56what so here are the different ways to
- 1:59use in a question so an then the word
- 2:03Ang then a noun so for example
- 2:09an what is your
- 2:14name and I underlined palan because
- 2:17that's the
- 2:19noun your response could
- 2:23be that literally means my name is bat
- 2:27but you might also hear someone say but
- 2:34that also means my name is Pat or you
- 2:36might just hear someone
- 2:41sayat I
- 2:43Amat so all of those are the different
- 2:46ways to respond I will say the most
- 2:49common response in casual conversation
- 2:57is after that the most common
- 3:00response would probably
- 3:05be is a little bit formal it's not very
- 3:09natural it's kind of what you would read
- 3:12like if something is written out that is
- 3:14like the grammatically correct way to
- 3:16say my name is but but those are
- 3:19different ways to respond and they're
- 3:21all
- 3:23correct another
- 3:27example means job so an what is her job
- 3:33his or Hera is a gender neutral pronoun
- 3:37so you have to listen to the context of
- 3:39the conversation to determine who
- 3:41someone is talking about
- 3:44so and the responses could
- 3:48be
- 3:51nurse nurse or it could be
- 3:55nurse
- 3:56nurse or nurse Sha nurse sha I will say
- 4:01nurse sha is a little bit
- 4:04more like grammatically correct because
- 4:07it's like a person you're not really I
- 4:10don't know it just kind of doesn't sound
- 4:12as correct when you say an nurse it's
- 4:16almost I guess it does work it does work
- 4:18um don't listen to me but yes so these
- 4:21are these are the different ways to say
- 4:22this again an nurse is a little bit more
- 4:26on the formal side not a lot of people
- 4:28say it like that it's more common for
- 4:31someone to say nurse sha she is a
- 4:34nurse which I am surprise surprise right
- 4:38a lot of Filipinos are nurses here's
- 4:40another
- 4:41example
- 4:43blank that means what is blank in theog
- 4:47what is blank in the gallog this is a
- 4:49good question to know while you are
- 4:52learning the gallog vocabulary if you
- 4:55see something and you want to be like oh
- 4:56what is this inog you can say I know I'm
- 4:59blank talog for
- 5:01example
- 5:03dogal the answer would
- 5:06be
- 5:10dog
- 5:17or so these both mean dog in
- 5:22is so you might be wondering why are
- 5:24there so many different ways to
- 5:26respond and I think it's just a lot of
- 5:29languages have that it's like you can
- 5:31move around some of the words change up
- 5:33the grammar a little bit and it means
- 5:35the same thing but there are certain
- 5:37phrases or certain ways that things are
- 5:40more used in common
- 5:43conversation in this case I think
- 5:47doog or actually
- 5:50dog I think do is a little bit more uh
- 5:55casual okay next an verb so this is
- 6:01another way to use an
- 6:07so that means what are you
- 6:10eating is the present
- 6:12tense uh form of to eat so what are you
- 6:22eating iobo I'm eating
- 6:25adobo orobo
- 6:32orobo so those all mean I am eating
- 6:36adobo the more commonly used way to say
- 6:40it would
- 6:41beo I'm eating
- 6:44adobo usually the last example that I
- 6:47give is the one that's more uh natural
- 6:50like less formal and used in common
- 6:53conversation another
- 6:58example means
- 7:00to have said like what did he
- 7:05say responses could
- 7:09be he said
- 7:14no
- 7:17or those are the different ways to say
- 7:20he said
- 7:22no again I would
- 7:25hear or
- 7:29just a note about sinabi you might hear
- 7:31someone say
- 7:33sa
- 7:34sa technically the past tense
- 7:37conjugation of Sabi isi but people
- 7:40shortcut it and say Sab Hindi so if you
- 7:43hear that that's what it
- 7:45means
- 7:48next what are you
- 7:54doing and some responses
- 7:57gake I am making a cake and I'm going to
- 8:02explain this in a
- 8:04minute TV I am watching TV so why did I
- 8:09respond this way to this question GA
- 8:14means to make or to do so if someone
- 8:17asked
- 8:19you they could be asking what are you
- 8:22doing and I
- 8:24responded I'm watching TV or if someone
- 8:27asks
- 8:30that could also mean what are you making
- 8:32So I
- 8:34responded cake I'm making a
- 8:37cake so that's just the different ways
- 8:39gawat can be used and then just another
- 8:43little note here you'll see in the blue
- 8:47verbs can be in any tense so when you
- 8:50are using a no with a verb it could be
- 8:54asking about what someone did in the
- 8:56past what someone is doing currently or
- 8:58what someone will be doing tomorrow or
- 9:00in the future so verbs can be in any
- 9:03tense and if you need a review of the
- 9:06different ways to conjugate verbs in the
- 9:08gallog go ahead and watch my previous
- 9:11videos I have a video just for present
- 9:14tense conjugation and then the video
- 9:16after that is for past and future tense
- 9:18once you get the patterns down it's just
- 9:20a matter of uh learning new vocabulary
- 9:23and trying to remember the different
- 9:25ways they're conjugated okay so here are
- 9:28the different uses for an so an means
- 9:33what's up na is a an emphasis word or
- 9:38sometimes it means already and in this
- 9:41case it's kind of Lost in Translation
- 9:42it's just an expression meaning hey
- 9:44what's up for example if someone was
- 9:46taking a long time to get ready and I'm
- 9:48like hey Ana we're going to be late Ana
- 9:51so it's like hey what's up or if you
- 9:53haven't seen someone in a very long time
- 9:55you're like oh Ana hey what's up so
- 9:58that's just a different way to use Ana
- 10:01next an means what the heck and ba is a
- 10:05question word and we'll learn how to use
- 10:07that later in a at the very end of the
- 10:09lesson but in this case again it's Lost
- 10:13in Translation but it means like what
- 10:15the heck so for example if someone
- 10:17bumped into you and they didn't say
- 10:19sorry you can say ano ano what the heck
- 10:22or if someone is just joking with you
- 10:24you can say an okay so it just it's an
- 10:27expression meaning what the heck
- 10:30next an da that means what did they say
- 10:35so da means like you're referring to
- 10:38someone else after they've said
- 10:40something so anod da what did they say
- 10:43anod
- 10:45next what is this and then an what is
- 10:50that so that's just the different ways
- 10:52to use the demonstrative pronoun this
- 10:55and that an Anan what is this what is
- 10:58that
- 11:00and then there's another demonstrative
- 11:02pronoun an an so what is that over there
- 11:07so what is this what is that what is
- 11:10that over there so it's like a little
- 11:12bit farther that's the difference there
- 11:15and
- 11:16then what's the
- 11:18problem so the NG at the end there is
- 11:22like
- 11:23anma and you can put it together and it
- 11:26would be an so an
- 11:30that also works instead
- 11:32of you can put it
- 11:35together and you will see this Happ to a
- 11:37lot of the uh question words that we'll
- 11:40be learning anytime the word uh the
- 11:43previous word ends in a vowel you can
- 11:46usually make this contraction or like
- 11:48putting the words together you'll see
- 11:50that now let's just practice using an no
- 11:54so on the left side oh let me turn off
- 11:56my screen so sorry
- 12:00so on the left side here you will see
- 12:02the rules that we just learned so an
- 12:05plus a noun the example
- 12:12was again remember is the more uh casual
- 12:17way to respond and then the next example
- 12:21we learned was an plus a verb
- 12:25so what are you eating and then those
- 12:28are the responses
- 12:32now what I want you to do is to
- 12:34translate these uh examples so they're
- 12:37in the gallog I want you to translate
- 12:39them to English so number one what are
- 12:41you cooking and then I gave you a vocab
- 12:44hint nul means cooking number two what
- 12:49is his girlfriend's name noia means
- 12:52girlfriend number three what is Cat in
- 12:55theog four what is what did Mark and
- 12:58John eat yesterday g means eight number
- 13:03five what are you watching p means
- 13:07watching so let's do number one
- 13:10together what are you cooking
- 13:15an and then the verb right so we're just
- 13:17following this sentence structure number
- 13:23two
- 13:26Mo what are you cooking
- 13:30and then a response could
- 13:37be so this kind of brings in all of the
- 13:41different um conjugations that we had
- 13:43learned in the previous lessons so try
- 13:46to
- 13:48remember uh how to conjugate them and
- 13:51I'm just thinking here I guess it can be
- 13:53a little b a little bit confusing
- 13:54because in the question it's conjugated
- 13:57as n
- 14:00and that wasn't really one of the
- 14:01conjugation patterns that we had learned
- 14:03but nag luluto is a nag verb so I will
- 14:07say there are some variations in the
- 14:08conjugations and you might not recognize
- 14:11them but just try your best and then
- 14:12we'll go over it okay and then just uh
- 14:16follow this pattern when you're making
- 14:20your response as well take a look at the
- 14:21examples I did and then see if you can
- 14:23make the examples and you can fill in
- 14:25the example with any answer that you
- 14:27want so go ahead pause the video now and
- 14:29then you can come back and we will go
- 14:31over these
- 14:34questions okay welcome back let's do
- 14:36number two what is his girlfriend's name
- 14:39noia is
- 14:46girlfriend so we
- 14:48learned now if you want to talk about
- 14:50someone else you would have to
- 14:52add
- 14:54noia N means of so noia is girlfriend
- 14:59yaa is his so what is the name of his
- 15:02girlfriend you see how everything just
- 15:04kind of fits together but it's it might
- 15:07not be in the order that we're used to
- 15:10in English so just take note of this it
- 15:12would
- 15:15be that's how you would say
- 15:18that
- 15:24response or
- 15:27sh sh Sara something like that okay
- 15:32number three what is Cat in
- 15:36Tagalog oh gosh I just told told
- 15:45you
- 15:47catalog next what did Mark and John eat
- 15:50yesterday
- 15:52an nil Mark at
- 15:56John an Mark at John kapun I want to
- 16:01show you this word
- 16:03n this is like a sentence marker that is
- 16:08used to indicate people so it's like
- 16:11their ownership when it's multiple
- 16:14people Mark and John it's n when it's
- 16:18just one person it's ni so for example
- 16:21if it was just Mark I know an
- 16:25marap marap it's just one person but
- 16:29when it's multiple people you have to
- 16:30use
- 16:32n Mark at
- 16:35John
- 16:42response
- 16:44so Sil is the pronoun
- 16:48here and that's a subject pronoun
- 16:53so using subject pronouns can be tricky
- 16:56and I don't expect you to know these
- 16:58prouns or these conjugate conjugations
- 17:01right off the bat but hopefully you can
- 17:03recognize them and then from these
- 17:06examples use them this way in the future
- 17:10okay so don't get too worried if you're
- 17:12not getting the questions right just use
- 17:15this as a way to learn them okay number
- 17:19five what are you
- 17:20watching
- 17:26an the response
- 17:32I'm watching a new
- 17:42movie something like that you might also
- 17:45hear someone
- 17:47say so we learned in the previous
- 17:51lessons or means to
- 17:54watch but this one is p and it's f
- 17:58focusing more on the object so the movie
- 18:02or the
- 18:03show
- 18:05okay next question word is baket why
- 18:11baket and here is one way to use it
- 18:14baket plus an adjective plus the word
- 18:18Ang and then a noun so for
- 18:27example why is the car
- 18:31dirty and then the
- 18:40response so the car is dirty because
- 18:44it's muddy
- 18:46outside mik means Mar laas means
- 18:50outside okay and then another example
- 18:55isone why is my cell phone hot
- 18:59B is an adjective meaning hot cell
- 19:05phone and then a
- 19:12response my cell phone is hot because
- 19:14I'm using it too much so hopefully you
- 19:16can see here see here the pattern that
- 19:19we are following bucket goes first and
- 19:22then it's the adjective and then it's
- 19:24the word Ang and then it's the noun
- 19:29or you could also do baket plus a
- 19:32pronoun and then a verb so
- 19:36Bak why are you
- 19:41crying some
- 19:47responses I'm crying because my dog is
- 19:57lost means lost or
- 20:00missing another
- 20:04example why did you do
- 20:12that I do that because I love
- 20:17you you might hear me saying Yun Yun as
- 20:21if there's no I and that's commonly how
- 20:23it's pronounced you might hear people
- 20:27say but usually the letter I sound is
- 20:32dropped and then another way to use
- 20:34baket baket plus a verb
- 20:37bakak Michelle so bakit plus a verb
- 20:42bakak Michelle why is Michelle
- 20:45crying
- 20:50Michelle Michelle is crying because the
- 20:52show is
- 20:54sad means to it's like feel feeling sad
- 20:59makes someone feel
- 21:01sadas the
- 21:03show so those are the different ways
- 21:05bakit can be used and again verbs can be
- 21:09in any tense like we saw in
- 21:12an I want to point out the different
- 21:15responses that you can say when you're
- 21:17using uh bucket questions so because can
- 21:23be
- 21:25or or
- 21:29okay so Casi is informal it is most
- 21:34commonly used you'll hear it a lot in
- 21:36common conversation
- 21:40CI is also used a lot we saw it in the
- 21:43examples but it's a little bit more
- 21:46formal but it can also be used
- 21:49casually and then sapat is very formal
- 21:52it's rarely used it's almost like
- 21:55Shakespearean you'll see it in like
- 21:57writing
- 21:58or someone might use it maybe to prove a
- 22:01point or something but it's not used a
- 22:04lot it's almost like a deepal really so
- 22:08here are those examples again and you'll
- 22:11see
- 22:12the
- 22:16so I am crying because my dog is lost so
- 22:20there's and then
- 22:26G I did that because I love you so
- 22:28there's the Casi and there's the Dil and
- 22:32they are used
- 22:34interchangeably but Casi is more casual
- 22:38Dil is a little bit more formal but can
- 22:40also be used casually
- 22:44okay now here are the different ways
- 22:47baket can be used and it doesn't really
- 22:49have a direct translation so you might
- 22:51hear baket
- 22:52G Bak ganit ganito means like this so
- 22:57why like this
- 22:59or why is this happening so for example
- 23:02it's like Oh no I got a flat tire I ran
- 23:05out of gas and I'm late for work oh Bak
- 23:07G why is it happening why is it like
- 23:11this and then baket ba again there's
- 23:14that ba question word when it's added to
- 23:17bucket it's why with emphasis so maybe
- 23:20someone is annoying you they're like hey
- 23:23Pat bat hey Pat and you're like oh baket
- 23:25B why what do you need baket B and then
- 23:30B NA means like it's a sign of emphasis
- 23:35or it means like again again so why
- 23:39again so again maybe someone is
- 23:42pestering you they're like hey Pat hey
- 23:44Pat you're like Bak what now and then
- 23:49bakit da so da again is like what did
- 23:52they say so it's like why did they say
- 23:57so it's like
- 23:59oh we can't go in yet and you're like oh
- 24:01bakit though why why not what did they
- 24:03say so those those are the different
- 24:05ways bakit can be used and just a
- 24:08taglish tip I am a big supporter of
- 24:11using the gallog and English together
- 24:13taglish especially while you are
- 24:15learning theog so here is one way to do
- 24:18that maybe use
- 24:20Casi and then finish your English
- 24:23answer for example why are you sad C I
- 24:28Stay up late and or I'm sorry why are
- 24:30you tired and it would be I stayed up
- 24:33late to finish a movie so instead of
- 24:35saying because
- 24:38sayi and then the more vocabulary you
- 24:42learn you'll eventually be able to say
- 24:44the whole phrase inog why are you
- 24:53tired okay so just insert theal words
- 24:58here and there and then before you know
- 25:00it you'll be able to say longer phrases
- 25:03in the
- 25:04gallog now I want us to practice baket
- 25:07here on the left side again are the
- 25:11different ways to use baket so bakit
- 25:15plus an adjective then Ang then a
- 25:18noun why is the car
- 25:21dirty
- 25:23or baket plus the pronoun plus a verb
- 25:26baket
- 25:30or Bak plus a verb
- 25:33bakak see Michelle why is Michelle
- 25:36crying okay so those are the different
- 25:38sentence structures when using bakit and
- 25:41uh just a tip when you're making a
- 25:43response you can use or remember that
- 25:47means
- 25:49because here are the questions that I
- 25:52want us to translate so why are you sad
- 25:56Mal to be sad
- 25:58let's do this one together why are you
- 26:02sad it would be
- 26:04baket then it's the
- 26:07pronoun and then it's the adjective
- 26:12malet Mal so that kind of falls under
- 26:16the rule number two bucket plus a
- 26:18pronoun instead of a verb it can be an
- 26:20adjective okay so
- 26:23B your response Mal
- 26:28dot dot I am sad
- 26:33because I'm sad because I miss my dad
- 26:36okay so you can fill in uh the rest of
- 26:39your response with whatever you want but
- 26:41hopefully it starts with this same
- 26:44format so
- 26:46Mal dot dot dot so take a minute pause
- 26:50the video now and then we will go back
- 26:53and answer these questions
- 26:56together okay welcome back let's start
- 26:59with number two why is baa laughing
- 27:01tatawa is
- 27:04laughing so bakit
- 27:08tatawa baket tatawa so there's the baket
- 27:12there's the verb C so it's referring to
- 27:22ba baa is laughing
- 27:26because comedy because she's watching a
- 27:30comedy next why is Sam's car broken go
- 27:34is car s is
- 27:40broken so this one kind of falls under
- 27:42the rule number one baket and then
- 27:46adjective and then Ang and then the noun
- 27:50Co and then n just indicates the
- 27:54ownership of Sam so B
- 28:00Sam response could be
- 28:05Sam because it's
- 28:14old next why are the kids fighting is
- 28:18kids is
- 28:24fighting so there's buet and then
- 28:26there's a verb so there's rule number
- 28:28three B plus a
- 28:33verb why are the kids
- 28:36fighting the
- 28:44response they want to play with
- 28:45different things so a couple things I
- 28:48want to point
- 28:49out so instead of
- 28:52repeating I just said they and you can
- 28:55do that or you could have said
- 28:59like you can repeat it again or you can
- 29:01use a pronoun like I
- 29:06did and remember you could have Saidi so
- 29:09it's interchangeable you'll see in my
- 29:11answer sometimes I use CI sometimes I
- 29:13use
- 29:14d means different Ang means is G is to
- 29:22like they are playing they want to play
- 29:25with different things
- 29:28number five why is the house messy bah
- 29:30is house magu is
- 29:33messy bit
- 29:36magul so this one is just directly
- 29:39following rule number one baket then an
- 29:42adjective then Ang then a
- 29:46noun
- 29:50response the house is messy because
- 29:55partab we had a party yesterday
- 29:59so if you can recognize the different
- 30:02patterns that were used here that's kind
- 30:06of where it comes from these questions
- 30:10and you can add things afterwards to
- 30:13make it specific like is it belonging to
- 30:16someone are we talking about a place or
- 30:18something like that so follow these
- 30:20rules on the left side and then if you
- 30:23have to add more information at the end
- 30:25and then when you're making a response
- 30:28that is where you choose Casi or Dil and
- 30:32then bring in part of the question into
- 30:34your response as
- 30:35well if you have any questions about
- 30:37anything we're learning please feel free
- 30:39to write it in the comments and I will
- 30:40try to respond the next question we are
- 30:43going to learn is s San means
- 30:47where so San plus a verb that's an
- 30:52example of how to use
- 30:54this Bobby
- 30:58Bobby where is Bobby going to
- 31:01sleep our response is
- 31:04Bobby Sala Bobby is going to sleep in
- 31:08the living
- 31:10room Bobby
- 31:12Sala now you might also
- 31:15hear plus a pronoun plus a verb for
- 31:21example where are you
- 31:26going that should have it just says s
- 31:29there sorry about that so then the
- 31:34response I am going to the
- 31:39store so that's the difference there if
- 31:41you are talking about someone specific
- 31:44you would add C and then their
- 31:47name c Bobby or if you just want to use
- 31:50a pronoun the pronoun would go right
- 31:52after the question
- 31:55word okay so those are the different
- 31:57ways to use use it I do want to point
- 31:59out that your response has this word sa
- 32:04sa when the question isan the response
- 32:07is sa sa is a preposition and it means
- 32:11at a place but it can mean to or from or
- 32:17something like that so sa has a lot of
- 32:20different translations depending on the
- 32:22context in this case it
- 32:24means at a place or to okay
- 32:28next there's this question word Nas so
- 32:33it's similar to but it's Nas and here
- 32:36are the different ways to use
- 32:38it
- 32:40plus plus a noun for
- 32:43example C CR is comfort room inog or in
- 32:49the Philippines that's what they refer
- 32:51to the bathroom as where is the
- 32:54bathroom C the response
- 32:58Nas
- 33:00C the bathroom is outside
- 33:04nasas
- 33:06CR or you could ask about a
- 33:10person a
- 33:13person where is
- 33:17Mother the
- 33:20response mother is at
- 33:25work now I want to point out that the
- 33:27resp responses all start
- 33:30with okay so when the question
- 33:33is now your response has to have NASA so
- 33:38that was a difference that that's here
- 33:41so when it's the response has sa when
- 33:44it's Nas the response has
- 33:47NASA so just to go over it when do you
- 33:51you use when do you use Nas
- 33:58c phone where did my cell phone go
- 34:02versus where is my cell
- 34:07phone always goes with a verb when
- 34:10you're asking about a verb or something
- 34:13that has happened with like an action
- 34:16then you
- 34:20use the root word of pun means to go so
- 34:25napunta means went where did my cell
- 34:28phone go there's the
- 34:30verb and then the response
- 34:33is
- 34:36oh and
- 34:41then plus the word plus a noun so when
- 34:45you're asking about the location of
- 34:48something then it's Nas so it's like Nas
- 34:53Nas anytime there's like the ends try to
- 34:57remember that so your response
- 35:04has it's in my bag okay so this is just
- 35:10to look at it again these are the
- 35:12examples we just saw you might hear
- 35:14someone
- 35:17Sayan or when they're referring to NAS
- 35:21so that's just like a short way to say
- 35:25it so instead of saying
- 35:27someone might
- 35:29ask where is the
- 35:31bathroom or they might even just
- 35:35say even though technically it should be
- 35:37Nas so people shorten it but technically
- 35:41just so you know it should be nasan okay
- 35:46now let's take a look at this response
- 35:50nasas C the bathroom is
- 35:53outside these are the location
- 35:56vocabulary so so let's take the
- 35:59question where is the key Susi is
- 36:03key it's outside of the
- 36:07car or it's inside the
- 36:14car I it's on
- 36:18top it's
- 36:20under it's
- 36:22beside so if you wanted to be specific
- 36:25you would add the object after
- 36:29afterwards it's beside of the
- 36:35car so those are just the different
- 36:38location vocabulary words that you might
- 36:41hear and just the sentence structure for
- 36:45the response it would be NASA plus the
- 36:49location word that we just learned then
- 36:51it's n then it's a place then it's Ang
- 36:56then the thing so let's take a look at
- 37:02it the key is inside the car
- 37:07Nas is a location there's n Co is a
- 37:11place or
- 37:13thing and then sui is the thing
- 37:20okay
- 37:24or the key is under the bed
- 37:32so people ask me all the time when do I
- 37:35use n when do I use Ang so these words
- 37:41sometimes they are prepositions
- 37:43sometimes they are articles that go
- 37:45before a
- 37:46noun just try to think about it as the
- 37:50translation so the key is under the
- 37:54bed so under of the bed the key that's
- 37:59how this is like literally
- 38:03translated
- 38:05Nama is like of the bed it's under of
- 38:09the bed and then Ang sui the key so a
- 38:12lot of it doesn't make sense it's not
- 38:14the same grammar structure as in English
- 38:17so just follow this pattern that I'm
- 38:19showing you now and with more practice
- 38:21it'll kind of come more
- 38:24naturally next NASA location plus C plus
- 38:28the person
- 38:33so and then the location is b c and then
- 38:37the person see father is at the house
- 38:44or so this one is just a little bit more
- 38:47specific of where the father
- 38:50is the father is inside of the house so
- 38:53there's the difference there when you're
- 38:55using a location vocabulary versus when
- 38:58you're not
- 39:00so father is at the
- 39:02house
- 39:05versus father is inside of the house
- 39:09okay so that's kind of the difference
- 39:12there and then here are just some other
- 39:14uses for
- 39:17andas where are
- 39:22you where did that go so if you're
- 39:25looking for something just rhetorically
- 39:27you and be
- 39:29like where did it
- 39:32go where is it already it's like maybe
- 39:37if you're waiting for a pizza to be
- 39:39delivered and they're taking a long time
- 39:40you're like where is it where is it na
- 39:43again is a an emphasis word sometimes it
- 39:46means
- 39:48already where are you froma means from
- 39:52means where is referring to you where
- 39:54are you
- 39:55from so those are the different ways San
- 39:58can be
- 39:59used now let's practice
- 40:03San
- 40:06and on the left side of your screen you
- 40:09will see the sentence structures that we
- 40:13practice so San plus a verb or saan plus
- 40:16pronoun plus a verb remember anytime
- 40:19we're asking about a verb you have to
- 40:21use anytime we're asking about a noun
- 40:24you have to use nasan soas
- 40:27plus plus noun or NASA plus C plus a
- 40:32person okay let's put these into use and
- 40:34I think it'll help clarify any questions
- 40:37so translate these questions to
- 40:40theog where is Dad
- 40:43going means going so let's do this one
- 40:49together because it's asking about an
- 40:54action see d
- 41:00dad and then the
- 41:04response simah dad is going to
- 41:10church dad Sim so you're kind of taking
- 41:14the second part of this question and
- 41:18using it in your response okay so try
- 41:21practicing
- 41:22that and there's that preposition sa
- 41:25again to the church
- 41:28okay pause the video now you try the
- 41:31next four examples and we'll go over it
- 41:36together okay so now let's do number two
- 41:39where is the store thind is
- 41:43store it would
- 41:47be so we're asking about a noun the
- 41:50store so we have to
- 41:55use the response
- 42:02office means
- 42:04beside N Post Office means of the post
- 42:08office so beside of the post office an
- 42:12means the store the store is beside the
- 42:14post
- 42:15office next where will we be eating
- 42:18later kakain means will'll eat mam means
- 42:25later m
- 42:28so we have to use because we are talking
- 42:30about an action where will we be eating
- 42:34later and then the pronoun just goes
- 42:36right after the question
- 42:42word your response
- 42:45kak Mak mamaya we're going to eat at
- 42:48McDonald's later you ready let's go you
- 42:53pay
- 42:55M next where is my husband
- 42:57aawa means husband or
- 43:02wife so we're asking about a noun or an
- 43:05object so is what we
- 43:08[Music]
- 43:10used where is my husband or wife husband
- 43:13in this case number five where is John
- 43:17oh your response
- 43:21nasas he is in the
- 43:24kitchen so remember anytime you're using
- 43:28your response has to
- 43:30have and then up here in the previous
- 43:32example anytime you're
- 43:34using your answer has to have
- 43:37sa and then last one where is John and
- 43:41Simon John at
- 43:44Simon so it's Nas because we're we're
- 43:47just asking about them not about what
- 43:50they're doing or where they are doing
- 43:53something and then it would be Nas
- 43:57they are outside or nasas John at Simon
- 44:01so you can add their names again or you
- 44:05could just add the pronoun and then I
- 44:07added that here in the number four
- 44:11example so you can re repeat that um
- 44:17part of the question or you can just use
- 44:19a pronoun okay so up to you
