- 0:05hello doers my name is hosio and welcome
- 0:07back for another great tutorial So today
- 0:10we're actually talking about subassembly
- 0:11which is when we manufacture a component
- 0:13before using it to manufacture another
- 0:15product you see not every product we
- 0:17manufactur has made with pre-made
- 0:19components that are bought ready to use
- 0:22sometimes we have to get into the
- 0:23nitty-gritty and manufacturer products
- 0:25components ourselves so for example
- 0:27let's take a look at our wheelie table
- 0:29product product unsurprisingly it's a
- 0:31table with wheels so to manufacture this
- 0:35table we need to attach our four wheelie
- 0:37legs to a tabletop however before the
- 0:40legs can be attached we have to assemble
- 0:42them as well by adding our wheel
- 0:43component to the bottom of our leg
- 0:45component that means that from start to
- 0:47finish manufacturing our table requires
- 0:49not one but two manufacturing orders
- 0:52oros now I could just manufacture a
- 0:54bunch of the wheelie legs ahead of time
- 0:56you know they're ready whenever we want
- 0:58to build a table however I i' rather
- 1:00manufacture four legs each time I need
- 1:02them for a table and luckily Odo allows
- 1:04me to do just that by automatically
- 1:06creating anmo for our four wheelie legs
- 1:08each time an emmo for the table is
- 1:10confirmed so let's manufacture one unit
- 1:12of our wheelie table now just so I can
- 1:14show you how all of this
- 1:16works okay so before we create an emmo
- 1:18we need to make sure that our wheelie
- 1:19table product and all of its components
- 1:21are correctly configured so in order for
- 1:23us to do that we actually want to open
- 1:25up our manufacturing application and
- 1:27we're going to select the word products
- 1:28and products object
- 1:30obviously so once that we're here we
- 1:32want to select our wheelie table so
- 1:34let's find that at the bottom over here
- 1:36now from the inventory tab that I've now
- 1:38opened up over here you can actually see
- 1:40that I've enabled the manufacturer route
- 1:43now let's actually take a look at the
- 1:44table's bombs by clicking on our bill
- 1:46material smart button up at the top as
- 1:48well and we're going to select it in
- 1:49there great so we're there so if I click
- 1:52inside of the operations tab you can
- 1:53actually see that this product requires
- 1:55one operation at our assembly station
- 1:57and that happens to be attaching the leg
- 1:58to the tabletop so on the components tab
- 2:01over here well that requires two
- 2:03different components four of the wheelie
- 2:05legs as you can tell by the quantity and
- 2:07then one of the tabletops so we
- 2:09purchased the tabletop from a vendor and
- 2:11already have a bunch in stock so we
- 2:13don't have to worry about manufacturing
- 2:14that we will need to manufacture the
- 2:16wheelie leg however so let's open up X
- 2:18product so that we could take a look at
- 2:20that as well and if we want to jump to
- 2:22it we can actually just click on this
- 2:23little internal link Arrow right there I
- 2:25love that about ODU now inside of here
- 2:27let's go to inventory now inside here
- 2:30you can see that I've selected the
- 2:31replenishment order MTO route as well as
- 2:33the manufacturer routes the MTO route
- 2:35creates a replenishment order every time
- 2:37there's a need for the component since
- 2:39the manufacturer route is selected as
- 2:40well it creates an ml now I want to take
- 2:43a look at this bomb as well for the
- 2:44wheelie leg so let's go in there as well
- 2:46go into our build materials wheelie leg
- 2:48great so here we can actually see that
- 2:51each wheelie leg requires one table leg
- 2:54and then one wheel as well much like the
- 2:56tabletop we purchased both of these
- 2:58components but if we wanted to
- 2:59manufacture them I could open the
- 3:00product pages and configure them the
- 3:02same way that I've configured the
- 3:03wheelie leg so if I did that eacho for
- 3:05the wheelie leg would also create ano
- 3:07for each component so if we go over here
- 3:09to our operations tab as you can tell we
- 3:12also have one operation listed for the
- 3:14assembly workstation all right since we
- 3:16have both of the wheelie components in
- 3:18stock we're actually all ready to
- 3:19manufacture the our table so let's go do
- 3:22that so I am actually going to start by
- 3:24creating an emmo for one unit of the
- 3:26wheelie table so to do that we click on
- 3:29the word operation and then
- 3:31manufacturing orders and then we want to
- 3:33select the word new you've done this
- 3:34dance with me a lot so let's select our
- 3:36wheelie table as our product that we're
- 3:38going to be manufacturing and then
- 3:40confirm this real quick great so once
- 3:42that I do that a few things happen first
- 3:45the forecast section over here on our
- 3:47components tab as you can tell it tells
- 3:49us something it displays today's date
- 3:51for the wheelie leg component as well
- 3:53this is because we don't have the legs
- 3:54available yet but OD recognizes that we
- 3:56should be finishing manufacturing for
- 3:58them today have do we go about
- 4:00manufacturing them well you may have
- 4:01also noticed the child Mo smart button
- 4:04happens to appear right there H what
- 4:07does that do so since we enabled the MTO
- 4:09route on our wheelie leg component an
- 4:11ammo was created automatically to
- 4:13fulfill our need for it as such Odo
- 4:15considers that emmo the child of this
- 4:17source emmo so we can actually access it
- 4:20by clicking on the childo button let's
- 4:22click into that so the child emmo is
- 4:24linked back to its parents by this
- 4:25Source emmo smart button that we have
- 4:27now here and down on the component tab
- 4:30wouldn't you notice that we can see that
- 4:32both the components we need are
- 4:33available as we can tell from our
- 4:35forecast all right we're now ready to
- 4:37begin manufacturing our wheelie table
- 4:38but first let me show you how planning
- 4:40works for OS that use sub assemblies we
- 4:42actually want to make sure that the Emos
- 4:43are planned in the correct order so that
- 4:45we won't start working on our wheelie
- 4:46table ammo before we've actually
- 4:48manufactured the wheelie legs so to do
- 4:50so we're actually going to head back to
- 4:51the manufacturing orders we have the
- 4:52breadcrumbs which are Wonder Bread today
- 4:55we're going to select them both and
- 4:56select plan and then once we do that
- 4:59we're going to actually select the
- 5:00planning dropdown from the top and then
- 5:02we're going to select Planning by
- 5:04production and on this page I'm going to
- 5:06click on the time period drop down that
- 5:08we have over here and I'm going to
- 5:09select the day option and would you look
- 5:11at that that's going to give me more
- 5:12detail about how ouros have been planned
- 5:15so we're actually going to select the
- 5:16first one that's set to open which
- 5:18happens to be our attach wheel component
- 5:22right there this is because ODU
- 5:24recognizes that the child emmo must be
- 5:26completed before the parent emmo do you
- 5:28notice that the time listed in the stop
- 5:30date field on the popover window for the
- 5:32child activity it actually gives us
- 5:34something there well if I click away and
- 5:38then I click on the parent emmo you'll
- 5:41notice something the start date happens
- 5:45to be the exact same time this is
- 5:47because ODU knows that once the child
- 5:48demo is completed all components will be
- 5:50available for the parent emmo so it
- 5:52schedules it to begin immediately after
- 5:54now all we have to do is complete the
- 5:55child emo and then we'll be ready to
- 5:57start work on the parent emmo at that
- 5:58point we'll have Manu ufactured one unit
- 6:00of our wheelie table that's pretty cool
- 6:02right so for today's example we use a
- 6:04manufactured product that requires
- 6:06another manufactured product as its
- 6:08components however the really cool thing
- 6:10about subassembly products in ODU is
- 6:12that they can have as many levels as you
- 6:14want for example you can manufacture a
- 6:16bike spoke which is then used to make a
- 6:18bike rim which is then used to make a
- 6:20bike wheel which is finally used to
- 6:22produce a full bike and as you can see
- 6:25ODU simplifies the production of even
- 6:27the most complicated multi-step
- 6:28Manufacturing workflows that's the best
- 6:30part of it well that's it for today
- 6:31folks you now know how to manufacture
- 6:33products using sub assemblies I'm going
- 6:35to see you next time go grab a snack
