  408. 26:27in and engineering subject areas as per
  409. 26:31QS all subject areas the rank is 142
  410. 26:36in 2026 ranking.
  411. 26:40BIT is a multi-disiplinary
  412. 26:42institution. Here any student can learn
  413. 26:46from any teacher in material he belongs
  414. 26:49to who is she or she belongs to whose
  415. 26:52department.
  416. 26:53Similarly any teacher
  417. 26:56can teach any student. He can do project
  418. 27:00under the supervision of any teacher of
  419. 27:01the university. There is no wall.
  420. 27:06This kind of multi-disiplinary and
  421. 27:08interdisiplinary culture we have created
  422. 27:11in the campus
  423. 27:14as the teacher
  424. 27:16I have a advice for you
  425. 27:20that
  426. 27:23at least one textbook
  427. 27:26in every subject you buy keep it with
  428. 27:30you study
  429. 27:33till there are so many things social
  430. 27:35media this and that but still there is
  431. 27:39no shortcut for
  432. 27:42understanding the subject for getting
  433. 27:44the fundamentals for getting the control
  434. 27:46of the subject which is very important
  435. 27:47at this stage. After 4 years either you
  436. 27:50will get a degree uh you either uh after
  437. 27:53getting the degree you will get
  438. 27:55placement or you'll go for higher study
  439. 27:58or you'll become an entrepreneur
  440. 28:02whatever it may be your fundamental is
  441. 28:05very very important at this stage that
  442. 28:07is why you need to plan from now and
  443. 28:11study the book reading the book is must
  444. 28:15there is no shortcut
  445. 28:18this is you plan for it and here in our
  446. 28:22campus students learn not only the
  447. 28:25subjects they also learn discipline
  448. 28:29and many students and their parents they
  449. 28:33say that BIT students are very
  450. 28:35disciplined and that is the way in this
  451. 28:38campus 40,000 students 5,000 research
  452. 28:41scholars about 45,000
  453. 28:44students are here and uh they are
  454. 28:47studying being
  455. 28:49they are doing everything with
  456. 28:51discipline. So this is uh something we
  457. 28:54all
  458. 28:55uh we practice it here.
  459. 28:59You'll see that core values of vit.
  460. 29:02The first one is a student focus.
  461. 29:05We are here for students
  462. 29:08for anything any problem. Even you our
  463. 29:12students welfare director he will speak
  464. 29:14about the proctoring
  465. 29:16all of you will get the proctor your
  466. 29:18proctor is the first contact point
  467. 29:22academic problems and all other problems
  468. 29:24I would like to request all the parents
  469. 29:26also to meet the proctors
  470. 29:28proctor is the first point person who
  471. 29:32will solve your problem
  472. 29:34I would like to join our register to say
  473. 29:37happy learning enjoy your next four
  474. 29:40years. Learn and enjoy. Thank you very
  475. 29:42much. Wish you all the best.
  476. 29:44[Applause]
  477. 29:49Thank you sir for throwing light on
  478. 29:51VIT's remarkable achievements on the
  479. 29:53global stage. Next, to inspire and guide
  480. 29:56the young minds gathered here today, I
  481. 29:59warmly invite our executive director Dr.
  482. 30:01Sya Pentari to address the gathering.
  483. 30:13Wow, what an enormous crowd. Such a huge
  484. 30:17crowd.
  485. 30:19Is it a little scary sitting uh among so
  486. 30:22many people? A little bit. Yeah, I am a
  487. 30:26little bit scared to be addressing such
  488. 30:28a huge gathering.
  489. 30:32Maybe overwhelming is the right word
  490. 30:35that rather than scared. I'm overwhelmed
  491. 30:38when I look at you and I think what
  492. 30:42wonderful things you will be.
  493. 30:46Would you be
  494. 30:50would you be someone some great engineer
  495. 30:52that facilitates settlement on Mars?
  496. 30:57Or better yet, would you be a person who
  497. 31:00would salvage the planet Earth through
  498. 31:03technology and innovation and problem
  499. 31:06solving?
  500. 31:08Or would you be a corporate leader
  501. 31:11influencing innovation
  502. 31:14and um
  503. 31:16and making better so many thousands of
  504. 31:18lives?
  505. 31:20Or an entrepreneur creating jobs and
  506. 31:22wealth for the people.
  507. 31:25or a scientist
  508. 31:27who keeps adding new knowledge for the
  509. 31:31betterment of human life?
  510. 31:36Or an educator who shapes generations to
  511. 31:39come?
  512. 31:42Or would you be a product designer?
  513. 31:47Or would you that you know you can bring
  514. 31:50in products to enrich our day-to-day
  515. 31:52life?
  516. 31:55Or would you be
  517. 31:58such an innovator to bag a Nobel Prize?
  518. 32:03Please tell me there is a future Nobel
  519. 32:05Prize winner sitting in this crowd
  520. 32:07today.
  521. 32:10Or would you be the architect of human
  522. 32:14life itself?
  523. 32:18What wonderful things are you going to
  524. 32:20be?
  525. 32:24When I think of that, it overwhelms me.
  526. 32:30Congratulations.
  527. 32:32You've made it to VIT.
  528. 32:36But that's not the end of the journey as
  529. 32:38you all know it. It's just the beginning
  530. 32:42of the journey. But it's not a
  531. 32:46gruelling, hardworking journey.
  532. 32:49But I promise you, with the right
  533. 32:51attitude, it's going to be an enjoyable,
  534. 32:55fulfilling, and delightfully challenging
  535. 32:59journey. It will be challenging. All
  536. 33:01right? Without challenge, we can thrive.
  537. 33:06But it can be delightfully challenging
  538. 33:10with the right attitude.
  539. 33:15And how would you make this journey?
  540. 33:19How would you journey through
  541. 33:22this wonderful thing that you want to
  542. 33:24be?
  543. 33:29When is the fastest you've ever learned
  544. 33:32in your life? When is the fastest you've
  545. 33:34ever learned in your life? When you were
  546. 33:36a kid, right?
  547. 33:38The fastest learning happens between the
  548. 33:41ages 0 to three. How did you do all that
  549. 33:44learning? Through just one thing and
  550. 33:48that is curiosity.
  551. 33:51Bring back that curiosity. If you've
  552. 33:54lost it, bring it back. If it's if it's
  553. 33:57been there, then that is your best
  554. 33:58friend. Keep it as your best friend. Ask
  555. 34:02why. Ask why not. and you first learned
  556. 34:06to say a few words or walk the walk and
  557. 34:08talk the talk, right?
  558. 34:12You were amazingly delighted. I think I
  559. 34:16have parents who can vouch for that.
  560. 34:18They probably remember when you first
  561. 34:21said those sweet words, amma, dada,
  562. 34:25nana. Yes. Apa.
  563. 34:31So that joy of learning
  564. 34:34bring that back into your lives again.
  565. 34:37Life is a joy but learning is even more
  566. 34:41enjoyable.
  567. 34:44Without learning we cannot thrive and
  568. 34:47the day we stop learning we stop living.
  569. 34:54So and learning is like you know
  570. 34:56nourishment. You cannot eat a lot of
  571. 34:59food at once and digest. Learning is
  572. 35:02best done in nibbles,
  573. 35:05bits and nibbles and bites. So you take
  574. 35:09a little bit and then you digest it. So
  575. 35:12my advice is learn continuously. Learn
  576. 35:15every day. Find time to learn every day
  577. 35:17amongst the rest of the things that
  578. 35:19happen for your holistic development.
  579. 35:22Make time for your learning. Indirect
  580. 35:24learning as well as direct learning.
  581. 35:30And can you make a commitment to
  582. 35:31lifelong learning? I'm still learning.
  583. 35:34I've never stopped learning. And I'd
  584. 35:36like to say that till I die, I will be
  585. 35:39learning.
  586. 35:42How else would you make this journey
  587. 35:45to that wonderful thing you want to be?
  588. 35:48Look around you. Identify the problems.
  589. 35:52And where others see problems, what do
  590. 35:55you see? You should see opportunities.
  591. 35:59Opportunities to solve those problems.
  592. 36:03But before you put your problemsolving
  593. 36:05hat on, hone your skills on how to
  594. 36:09identify a problem, how to state a
  595. 36:12problem, how to first understand the
  596. 36:14problem and how to state the problem,
  597. 36:17right? And then you put your problem
  598. 36:19solving hats on.
  599. 36:22And and what else would you do through
  600. 36:25this journey?
  601. 36:27Research, research, research.
  602. 36:31Uncover, discover, and recover.
  603. 36:36Internet is a great library at the tips
  604. 36:39of your fingers. Internet can be used
  605. 36:40for many things, but research and
  606. 36:44learning and understanding
  607. 36:47are the primary things that it ought to
  608. 36:49be used for.
  609. 36:55Okay. And then I want to say now if you
  610. 36:59go through this journey while you go
  611. 37:01through this journey do not lose your
  612. 37:04empathy, your human touch and your
  613. 37:07camaraderie.
  614. 37:10So with the human touch and with your
  615. 37:13intelligence, you can conquer the world.
  616. 37:20Now you are my fellow technologists and
  617. 37:23fellow computer science engineers and
  618. 37:25scientists.
  619. 37:28So you are to create not just use the
  620. 37:31tools.
  621. 37:33Long before you were born there were
  622. 37:35calculators and computers. But when you
  623. 37:39went to school did you stop learning
  624. 37:42arithmetic tables or addition? Now if I
  625. 37:45ask you 7 * 8,
  626. 37:49I won't ask you 7 x 8. There's probably
  627. 37:51a practical problem where you have to
  628. 37:53multiply 7 by 8. Would you look up the
  629. 37:56internet or do take out your calculator?
  630. 37:59I hope not. I hope you're, you know,
  631. 38:02quick enough to get that answer in the
  632. 38:04mind. Right? See, knowledge needs to be
  633. 38:07absorbed. Knowledge is at our fingertips
  634. 38:09today, which is good. But you need to
  635. 38:12absorb the knowledge in your heart, in
  636. 38:15your mind for dis better decision
  637. 38:17making. You don't want to be running to
  638. 38:20tools all the time.
  639. 38:23Tools are great. I use them all the
  640. 38:25time. But the tools should not become
  641. 38:29you. They should not overtake you.
  642. 38:35Okay? So if you are just the sum of the
  643. 38:40tools that are created by others, you'll
  644. 38:43just be a robot. You'll just be a
  645. 38:45cyborg.
  646. 38:47No, I want to be I want you to be a
  647. 38:49human. I want to be a human. I want to
  648. 38:51be that imperfect human with the lot of
  649. 38:55creativity.
  650. 38:58There are things that only I can solve.
  651. 39:00They're things that only I can achieve
  652. 39:03because of the intelligence that I have.
  653. 39:07Because of the intelligence I honed,
  654. 39:10not just by using the tools, but by
  655. 39:13using my brain.
  656. 39:17That's what I want you to say to me.
  657. 39:21So yes, use away the chat GPT, use away
  658. 39:24the AI, use away all those wonderful
  659. 39:27apps that you have, but don't let them
  660. 39:29take over you.
  661. 39:33Your emotion, your humanity, your
  662. 39:35intelligence. Preserve that.
  663. 39:39So create with me. Don't succumb.
  664. 39:43If I go write an essay using a Chad GPT,
  665. 39:47it will be Chad GPT who's talking. It
  666. 39:50won't be me.
  667. 39:54I'm certainly not talking to you today
  668. 39:56by looking at chat GPT.
  669. 39:59And that's me, the imperfect me that is
  670. 40:01talking to you. But that's the beautiful
  671. 40:04side, right? It's me, not just something
  672. 40:08that somebody wrote to learn, but you
  673. 40:12create with me such tools that will
  674. 40:15enrich human lives.
  675. 40:20Okay.
  676. 40:22And I you know how many of you felt what
  677. 40:25a beautiful campus it is.
  678. 40:30Okay. We have a beautiful campus. Thanks
  679. 40:33to everybody who did it that way. But I
  680. 40:37look around the freshers have started
  681. 40:39coming in. The campus started getting a
  682. 40:42little dirtier.
  683. 40:44Sorry to say.
  684. 40:46But yeah, maybe because the crowds are
  685. 40:50huge right now with, you know, with
  686. 40:52every student that's coming and there
  687. 40:53are also parents and relatives and so
  688. 40:55on. The the crowds are huge. But when
  689. 40:57the dust settles, I want you to own the
  690. 41:00campus. It is your campus. It's not just
  691. 41:03ours. It's your campus. Keep it clean.
  692. 41:07Keep it clean in more than one word.
  693. 41:10Okay? Do not litter. Do not spit. But
  694. 41:13keep it clean in other senses of the
  695. 41:15word too.
  696. 41:17Be respectful to each other. Be
  697. 41:20respectful to the environment. Recycle,
  698. 41:24reuse, and restore.
  699. 41:28And be respectful to your
  700. 41:31be respectful to your teachers, the
  701. 41:34officers of the university, the people
  702. 41:38each and every one of us who work here
  703. 41:40and your colleagues, your fellow
  704. 41:43students, your juniors, I mean when they
  705. 41:45come and your seniors be respectful of
  706. 41:48all of them.
  707. 41:51So never lose sight of that humanity in
  708. 41:54you, the friendships and then the
  709. 41:56camaraderie
  710. 41:58and respect your mental health and
  711. 42:01physical health. We have great resources
  712. 42:05for physical health as well as mental
  713. 42:07health. We have counselors. Dr. Rita is
  714. 42:10sitting right there. If you could ma'am,
  715. 42:12stand up. Thank you. And there are uh
  716. 42:15she has a set of uh very empathetic
  717. 42:20individuals.
  718. 42:22If we have an ailment, we go to a
  719. 42:24doctor. If we have a problem with our,
  720. 42:27you know, mental health, could be that I
  721. 42:30have lot of stress. Could be that I have
  722. 42:33a dilemma.
  723. 42:35So if I need help, I should see a friend
  724. 42:38or I should free feel free to go to the
  725. 42:40counselors. Nothing wrong with that.
  726. 42:43Please use those resources and uh please
  727. 42:46use them well.
  728. 42:49And um talking about respect to the
  729. 42:53colleagues, I want to say one thing
  730. 42:56while you go through all this journey,
  731. 42:59there is a visible and invisible team
  732. 43:01behind you.
  733. 43:03A great big army that helps you become
  734. 43:07better individuals. So today I want to
  735. 43:10thank all my colleagues sitting out here
  736. 43:13sitting out there among amongst you
  737. 43:17for doing all the wonderful things that
  738. 43:20only they know
  739. 43:23and I want to thank our chief guest
  740. 43:28doc uh Mr. Ilawarasu Krishna.
  741. 43:31He's the VP of Dell Technologies.
  742. 43:34And I want to thank our guest of honor,
  743. 43:38Miss Samita.
  744. 43:40She's an associate director at Flipkart.
  745. 43:43She manages university relations.
  746. 43:48And
  747. 43:50I want to thank all the parents who
  748. 43:53partner with us to create these
  749. 43:56wonderful human beings that will enrich
  750. 44:00our lives.
  751. 44:03And I want to salute our chancellor for
  752. 44:06his neverending care and leadership.
  753. 44:11Finally, I want to say
  754. 44:15engineer your life, don't hack it.
  755. 44:18A very good morning to you all.
  756. 44:23[Applause]
  757. 44:31Thank you ma'am for your empowering
  758. 44:32message to our students. Transform
  759. 44:34problems into opportunities.
  760. 44:37May I now request Dr. Raju, assistant
  761. 44:39director, students welfare to take over
  762. 44:41and formally introduce our guest of the
  763. 44:43day, Miss Sa Katy.

  765. 44:55welcome Miss Sam Katyar, a dynamic and

  794. 46:16for young talents and helping them dream
  795. 46:19big, prepare well and succeed in the
  796. 46:22corporate world. Please join me in
  797. 46:25giving warm welcome to Miss Sha Kadar.
  798. 46:29[Applause]
  799. 46:35>> Thank you for a very warm welcome. Um
  800. 46:38good morning everyone.
  801. 46:41It's an absolute pleasure. Thank you.
  802. 46:43It's an absolute pleasure to be here uh
  803. 46:46because VIT holds a very very special
  804. 46:49place in my heart. I think I have been
  805. 46:52coming to this university for more than
  806. 46:55a decade. I started for the first time I
  807. 46:58was here when I was working with eBay
  808. 47:00then with Cisco and now with Flipkart
  809. 47:02and what has not changed is the quality
  810. 47:06of talent that I get to hire for my
  811. 47:08business and also uh collaborate.
  812. 47:12Okay, sorry. And also I think uh a very
  813. 47:15warm and collaborative culture of this
  814. 47:17institution which uh makes me feel home
  815. 47:21every time I'm here. Um today is all the
  816. 47:24more special because I get to talk to
  817. 47:27all of you as you start and begin your
  818. 47:29journey. And I believe for most of you
  819. 47:32students uh this must be first time that
  820. 47:34you're stepping away from home, stepping
  821. 47:36away from your uh familiar faces,
  822. 47:39familiar routines, people, family and
  823. 47:42everything. And uh there's bunch of I'm
  824. 47:45sure uh feelings, anxiety of what's
  825. 47:48unknown, excitement of what's new. And
  826. 47:51it's completely okay to feel that way.
  827. 47:53And to all the parents, I see you as
  828. 47:56well. I understand your emotions. But
  829. 47:58trust me, you have made the right
  830. 48:01decision because this university will
  831. 48:03not just help uh nurture the talent from
  832. 48:06an academic excellence perspective, but
  833. 48:08also help them be a better version of
  834. 48:11themsel, be more confident.
  835. 48:14And to all the students out there, take
  836. 48:16a deep breath. It's okay to feel that
  837. 48:18way. It's okay to feel nervous because
  838. 48:20new environment makes you feel that way.
  839. 48:23But in couple of weeks, you'll start
  840. 48:25developing new uh routines. You'll start
  841. 48:28finding new friends, new set of people.
  842. 48:30You'll start discovering your strengths,
  843. 48:32your purpose. And this same campus will
  844. 48:35make you feel your very own safe place.
  845. 48:38So, it's completely comfortable to uh
  846. 48:41feel that way. So, don't be hard on
  847. 48:43yourself. Don't rush through it because
  848. 48:46growth takes time. And magic happens
  849. 48:49when you let yourself relax. Take it at
  850. 48:52your own pace. Now when you're starting
  851. 48:54your complete education journey, right,
  852. 48:57your academia, you will find lot of
  853. 49:00opportunities. Now along with
  854. 49:01opportunity, you'll also find lot of
  855. 49:03distractions. And my advice to you is
  856. 49:06please stay focused, stay curious and
  857. 49:09most important stay grounded because it
  858. 49:11is very very important for all of you.
  859. 49:14Don't just focus on uh finishing your
  860. 49:17exams or passing through them or just
  861. 49:19completing your assignments. Focus on
  862. 49:21real learning. Go a layer deeper and
  863. 49:24understands the concept. It's very very
  864. 49:26important. Participate in a lot of uh
  865. 49:30real work industry projects. Do
  866. 49:32internship and please don't wait for
  867. 49:34these internship in your final year.
  868. 49:36Internships today starts from first
  869. 49:39year. participate in various contest
  870. 49:41hackathons that industry is organizing
  871. 49:43because this will further help the uh
  872. 49:45bridge the gap between industry and
  873. 49:47academia and help you come closer to
  874. 49:50your aspirations also there are various
  875. 49:52clubs that a lot of universities and bit
  876. 49:55also have join those clubs participate
  877. 49:57in event all of these co-curricular
  878. 49:59activity also helps you and if there is
  879. 50:01an E cell don't think twice please go
  880. 50:04and join that because most of the
  881. 50:06innovation happen actually in dorm rooms
  882. 50:08and college halls hostel and not in
  883. 50:10boardrooms and maximum amount of
  884. 50:13learning happens outside your notebooks
  885. 50:16outside your classrooms. They happen
  886. 50:18through experimentation, teamwork and
  887. 50:20also through failure.
  888. 50:22I actually have a homework for all of
  889. 50:24you for all the students. I want you to
  890. 50:26find answer for three questions very
  891. 50:29very important. So stay focused. First
  892. 50:31question for which I want you to find
  893. 50:33answer is what is your personality type?
  894. 50:36When I say personality, what comes very
  895. 50:39naturally to you? Are you somebody who
  896. 50:41is a great influencer or are you
  897. 50:44negotiating really well? Are you a good
  898. 50:46adviser? Are you a creative person?
  899. 50:49There are various HR tools out there in
  900. 50:51uh social media. You can find one.
  901. 50:53Answer a series of psychometric
  902. 50:55questions that will help you identify
  903. 50:56your personality or reach out to your
  904. 50:59favorite professor, your mentors if you
  905. 51:01have your parents, anybody who whom you
  906. 51:04look up to to help you find the answer
  907. 51:06for this question. Second question for
  908. 51:08which you need to find answer is what is
  909. 51:11your skill type? Is there a particular
  910. 51:14technology or a domain that really
  911. 51:15excites you? Is Java, Python your thing?
  912. 51:17Is security as a domain that excites
  913. 51:19you? Right? Are you more inclined
  914. 51:22towards customer centric roles or a
  915. 51:25business facing roles? Right? Uh find
  916. 51:27answer to all of these questions. Is
  917. 51:29something around sales comes very
  918. 51:31naturally to you? Do you want to be part
  919. 51:33of sales organization and future? And
  920. 51:36third question for which you need to
  921. 51:37find answer is where are these skills
  922. 51:40needed? Is there a particular
  923. 51:42organization that will help you get
  924. 51:43there? And when I say organization
  925. 51:46whether a established organization which
  926. 51:49is really really old 30 40 years old uh
  927. 51:52company or a startup will help you get
  928. 51:55there or an entrepreneurship route will
  929. 51:57help you get there. Once you have answer
  930. 52:00to all these three question the sweet
  931. 52:02interjection spot of your personality
  932. 52:04versus your skills and where there is
  933. 52:06need is your focus area. Not just from
  934. 52:09an academic perspective but also from an
  935. 52:11industry perspective. that will again
  936. 52:13like I said help you bridge that gap. So
  937. 52:16please please work and find answer to
  938. 52:18all of these questions. I also want to
  939. 52:20share with all of you couple of elements
  940. 52:23that will that are very important in the
  941. 52:26industry and even in your academia. One
  942. 52:28is um what is uh uh your learnability.
  943. 52:33Now as a hiring manager as a HR leader
  944. 52:36if I have to hire somebody I don't just
  945. 52:38hire bases what you know. I also hire
  946. 52:41what you can learn and it is a very very
  947. 52:43important skill today because in the
  948. 52:45fast changing environment learning on
  949. 52:47the go has become need of the hour and
  950. 52:50let's be honest if I were to uh kind of
  951. 52:53differentiate between skill versus will
  952. 52:55skill we can teach you will comes from
  953. 52:58within we cannot teach you so focus also
  954. 53:01on learning how to learn it is very very
  955. 53:04important
  956. 53:05I also want to throw light on um how
  957. 53:09industry is recruiting today especially
  958. 53:12university recruiting most of the hiring
  959. 53:14has become very very democratic and when
  960. 53:17I say that and even Flipkart is doing
  961. 53:19that my previous company uh we were
  962. 53:21doing that at Cisco as well because we
  963. 53:24believe talent exists everywhere it does
  964. 53:27not reside only in tier one tier 2
  965. 53:30cities tier one tier 2 colleges it's
  966. 53:32found everywhere right so industry
  967. 53:35believes in how we can create a level
  968. 53:37playing field so irrespective of
  969. 53:39background, your university, your GPA,
  970. 53:41your specialization, you can come and
  971. 53:43apply for opportunity. Nobody is
  972. 53:45stopping you. So whether you are from
  973. 53:47IIT, whether you're from VIT or any
  974. 53:50other college, whether you are from
  975. 53:52civil branch, chemical branch or
  976. 53:53computer science specialization, you all
  977. 53:56can go and apply for job of what
  978. 53:58interest you. All industry is doing is I
  979. 54:02have a job, I need this skill skill set
  980. 54:04and I have created a bar. Do you clear
  981. 54:07my assessment process, my test? Do you
  982. 54:10clear my interview rounds? If yes, then
  983. 54:12yes, you have the job. And all of this
  984. 54:14is done to democratize the hiring to
  985. 54:17make it more inclusive. I'm sure a lot
  986. 54:19of you would have heard companies saying
  987. 54:21we are very inclusive uh from a culture
  988. 54:24perspective. And this inclusion is now
  989. 54:25coming to recruitment as well to create
  990. 54:28a level playing field where talent is
  991. 54:31identified bases their skill and not the
  992. 54:33background that they come from. And
  993. 54:35don't mistake me when I say that uh that
  994. 54:37you are in VIT your college does not
  995. 54:39matter or your GPA does not matter. All
  996. 54:41I'm saying is when you join the VIT
  997. 54:43while VIT is going to invest in helping
  998. 54:46you be who you can you also need to put
  999. 54:50an equal efforts to learn at the same
1000. 54:52time. And when I talk about GPA that
1001. 54:55does not mean you cram and then you get
1002. 54:57those scores and learn on the go. All we
1003. 55:00are saying is understand the concepts
1004. 55:03and GPA will follow you. Don't follow
1005. 55:06the GPA and it is very very important
1006. 55:08skill that is required today. Um I also
1007. 55:11want to talk about another area apart
1008. 55:14from your uh learnability. If I were to
1009. 55:16ask you all today, how many of you have
1010. 55:19a great idea in the past? I'm sure 70 to
1011. 55:2280% of you will raise hand. Oh yes, I
1012. 55:25had that great amazing idea. But how
1013. 55:28many of you have executed that idea?
1014. 55:31Maybe less than 5% who have executed and
1015. 55:33bought that to closure. Now this is the
1016. 55:37new superpower of your academia, new
1017. 55:40superpower of your industry. Because if
1018. 55:44you know what you know today will help
1019. 55:46you. But if you have a great idea, you
  1020. 55:49don't execute, then it's just a dream.
1021. 55:51It's just a fancy thought. But if you
1022. 55:53don't have an idea and you have power of
1023. 55:55execution, you will go somewhere. So
1024. 55:58start today because even a small step
1025. 56:01will land will land you somewhere. Uh at
1026. 56:04least you'll not be here where you are
1027. 56:05today. And with that, I have some
1028. 56:08message for parents. Firstly, thank you
1029. 56:11for trusting this university and thank
1030. 56:13you for trusting your children. Now that
1031. 56:16is stepping out of home environment,
1032. 56:18they are here. Please continue to
1033. 56:20encourage them. uh uh continue to guide
1034. 56:23them, give them all the support. Uh when
1035. 56:26you call them, talk about what they're
  1036. 56:27learning, talk about what they're
  1037. 56:29exploring, don't just ask about their
1038. 56:31marks and scores because your love and
1039. 56:34their determination will help them do
1040. 56:36wonders in their academic journey. And
1041. 56:39also to all the students out there, how
1042. 56:42your academia, how your career will
1043. 56:44unfold is in your hands. So continue to
1044. 56:48stay focused, continue to stay curious,
  1045. 56:50learn, unlearn, make mistake. It's okay.
1046. 56:54But don't stop believing in yourself and
1047. 56:57always do the right thing because right
1048. 57:00is right even if nobody is doing that
1049. 57:03and wrong is wrong even if everybody is
1050. 57:06doing that. I will leave you all with
1051. 57:08that thought process. Wishing you all
1052. 57:11good luck for your journey and who knows
1053. 57:14few years from now we will see you or I
1054. 57:17will meet you in Flipkart interviews. So
1055. 57:19with that good luck and before I go um

  1061. 57:33started and we're launching this with
1062. 57:35you guys. Um this is uh a small gesture.
1063. 57:39uh if you are um uh a student and
1064. 57:41shopping anything on Flipkart whether
  1065. 57:43it's electronics I'm sure you need
1066. 57:45laptops or whatever you will get some
1067. 57:47good discounts um uh as as uh your being
1068. 57:50student and second one is can we go to
1069. 57:53the next slide please okay so this is a
1070. 57:57new page you won't see too many

  1149. 1:01:27when I joined as a computer science
1150. 1:01:29first batch. I could able to see what
1151. 1:01:31kind of feeling you all going through.
1152. 1:01:33With that I want to welcome the
1153. 1:01:37respected chancellor my fatherly figure
  1154. 1:01:39Dr. G vishwanat
1155. 1:01:41um Dr. Shakir Dr. Sya Pentar madam he
1156. 1:01:46has been part of our 9397 batch uh
1157. 1:01:49curriculum. She was leading the MCA
1158. 1:01:51during that time. She sharers was taking
1159. 1:01:53uh RDBMS class for me. Whatever the
  1160. 1:01:55learnings and whatever the goodness I
1161. 1:01:57have, all the learnings came from this
  1162. 1:01:58VIT.
1163. 1:02:00I would like to congratulate um each and
1164. 1:02:03every new member who joined the VIT
  1165. 1:02:06family. You're not just earned the
1166. 1:02:09place. You have been part of the
  1167. 1:02:11institution of excellence. I'll tell you
1168. 1:02:13why as part of my speech why I'm saying
  1169. 1:02:14about excellence. You're not here just
1170. 1:02:17because you worked hard. You dream big.
1171. 1:02:19That's why you have been in this premier
1172. 1:02:21institute. It gives me immense pleasure
1173. 1:02:24to welcome each one of you and also my
1174. 1:02:26young friends this induction program and
1175. 1:02:29also a lot of nostalgic feeling going
1176. 1:02:31through me. I'm think this is the
1177. 1:02:33largest crowd gathering ever addressed.
  1178. 1:02:35I used to always address about 100 200
1179. 1:02:38500,000 people as Sandy madam said that
1180. 1:02:40this is the largest crowd I've been
1181. 1:02:42addressed little bit scare scariness is
1182. 1:02:44there in me but at the same time there's
1183. 1:02:46a lot of confidence and lot of um proud
1184. 1:02:49moment for me being as a VAT and also
1185. 1:02:51being as an industry in here I just want
1186. 1:02:53to give some um inputs in terms of what
1187. 1:02:56the engineering is all about when you're
1188. 1:02:58stepping in the institute it's not about
  1189. 1:03:00the curriculum it's beyond the classroom
  1190. 1:03:03what you're all going to enjoy here It's
  1191. 1:03:05about the camaraderie what you're going
1192. 1:03:07to have with your classmates, with your
1193. 1:03:10clubmates, with your professors, and
1194. 1:03:13with your management over the next four
1195. 1:03:15years. You're not going to only study
  1196. 1:03:17here. You're also going to get into a
  1197. 1:03:20full-fledged engineer where you're going
1198. 1:03:22to look into solving some of the real
1199. 1:03:25world problems where we all going
1200. 1:03:26through. Let me give you a little bit of
  1201. 1:03:29an
1202. 1:03:30um statistics or data point in terms of
1203. 1:03:33where India has been positioned in the
1204. 1:03:35global era. Maybe you would have heard a
1205. 1:03:37lot of things data from our other
1206. 1:03:39analyst also. India now the world's most
  1207. 1:03:42population country with over 1.4 billion
1208. 1:03:45people. We have surpassed China couple
  1209. 1:03:48of years back.
1210. 1:03:50Our youthfulness population median age
1211. 1:03:52is under 30. We are all part of the
1212. 1:03:55journey. You are you are part of the
  1213. 1:03:56journey. You're going to make a huge
1214. 1:03:58difference in that youth. Unlike the
1215. 1:04:01western countries where they have been
1216. 1:04:03declining in terms of birth rates,
1217. 1:04:05India's largest population is on the
1218. 1:04:07youth with lot of talent, ambition,
1219. 1:04:10energy and innovation. You are among the
1220. 1:04:13core. The youngest population has
1221. 1:04:15phenomenal energy in front of them to
1222. 1:04:18solve not just our problems in our
1223. 1:04:20country. It's also you are meant to
1224. 1:04:22solve for the problems across the
  1225. 1:04:25universe.
1226. 1:04:26India is no longer participating in the
1227. 1:04:28technologies. You have been hearing that
1228. 1:04:31the westerns the western companies or
1229. 1:04:33western countries started looking as how
1230. 1:04:35India is going to lead in technologies.
1231. 1:04:37In fact we have been leading some of the
1232. 1:04:39technologies on the fintech AI
  1233. 1:04:43um technologies around quantum
1234. 1:04:45computing. We have started leading it.
1235. 1:04:47You you would have seen some of the
1236. 1:04:49platforms what this countries has
  1237. 1:04:51developed the Aadhaar
1238. 1:04:53the identification platform the UPI
  1239. 1:04:56digil locker I don't know how many of
1240. 1:04:58you guys use digil locker every
1241. 1:05:00certificates all the licensing insurance
1242. 1:05:03all those things unified into one single
1243. 1:05:05platform which is done in this country
1244. 1:05:07which is developed by people like you.
1245. 1:05:09So we have started leading in terms of
1246. 1:05:12technology not following the technology
1247. 1:05:14and we continue to lead this in the
1248. 1:05:16future. What do we expect from the
1249. 1:05:18industries from bright engineers like
1250. 1:05:20you? Of course we want you to focus on
1251. 1:05:23your programming languages and the core
1252. 1:05:25skills. One of the biggest things we
1253. 1:05:27look at when we hire you as problem
1254. 1:05:29solving skills. How do you approach the
1255. 1:05:32problem? We don't expect you to solve
1256. 1:05:33the problem completely. How do you
1257. 1:05:35approach the problem? Are you able to
1258. 1:05:37break the complex problem into simple
1259. 1:05:39pieces? Are you able to communicate a
  1260. 1:05:42complex problem in a simplified way in a
1261. 1:05:44team? Are you having a winning together
  1262. 1:05:46attitude? Are you having a teamwork
1263. 1:05:49attitude? Are you working as a team so
1264. 1:05:51that this vision of the company or
1265. 1:05:53vision of the institute is being
1266. 1:05:55accomplished through you? Not as an
  1267. 1:05:56individual, not as about what you've
  1268. 1:05:59done, it's about how you've done the
1269. 1:06:02behavior aspects. What you accomplish is
1270. 1:06:04more important. At the same time how you
1271. 1:06:07accomplish is also more important in
1272. 1:06:09terms of the industry arena.
1273. 1:06:12Coming to the role of the parents I want
1274. 1:06:14to thank parents for choosing this
  1275. 1:06:16institute
1276. 1:06:18as my other chief guest mentioned about
1277. 1:06:21you are in the right place and right
  1278. 1:06:22time. Why I tell you I'll give you a
1279. 1:06:24little bit of a statistics right from
1280. 1:06:262014 I've been part of the hiring in VAT
1281. 1:06:30close to about 350 people being hired
  1282. 1:06:34from EU. It's about approximately around
1283. 1:06:36300 to 400 people in that close to about
  1284. 1:06:3870 80 people are star students. I can
1285. 1:06:42proudly say that in the last uh 12 years
1286. 1:06:44of um experience we had some of the top
1287. 1:06:48not some of most of them are top
  1288. 1:06:50performers in our company who's been
1289. 1:06:52creating the future vision and
1290. 1:06:54technologies for Dell. I can name the
1291. 1:06:57individuals the few people who have been
1292. 1:06:59part of the last event malti sudhager
  1293. 1:07:01they've been creating close to 100
1294. 1:07:03patents the technologies what need to
1295. 1:07:05drive the human progress not just for
1296. 1:07:07Dell even for the future complex world
1297. 1:07:11what we are going to live in so in that
1298. 1:07:13way you are in the safe hand you are in
1299. 1:07:16the safe place I am part of the
1300. 1:07:18curriculum setting up in VAT also let me
1301. 1:07:20tell you based on our industry research
1302. 1:07:24from companies like Bane Main, Mckensky,
  1303. 1:07:28JWC,
1304. 1:07:29there are top 10 technologies we have
1305. 1:07:31figured out. I could able to see almost
1306. 1:07:34all the top technologies has been either
1307. 1:07:37part of the core technologies in CSSE
1308. 1:07:39curriculum or in form of elective. It
1309. 1:07:42could be autonomous car, quantum
1310. 1:07:44computing, gen AI, agentic AI, digital
  1311. 1:07:48twins, design thinking, microservices,
  1312. 1:07:53devops, automation, cloud computing,
  1313. 1:07:57edge computing, 5G, 6G. Trust me, all
1314. 1:08:01those are part of your credle in the
1315. 1:08:02four years. It's up to you to choose
1316. 1:08:05which technology is interesting you
1317. 1:08:07which provides you the thrill of being
1318. 1:08:09as an engineer. I want to remind you
1319. 1:08:11very special simple message to all my
  1320. 1:08:13young friends, engineers here.
1321. 1:08:17You're not here to follow the future.
1322. 1:08:19You are here to create and lead
1323. 1:08:22something unique. So dream boldly. Live
1324. 1:08:26ethically which is very important as
1325. 1:08:29part of the engineering responsibility
1326. 1:08:31and lead courageously. Welcome to the
1327. 1:08:33world of engineering. May this four
1328. 1:08:36years filled with lot of joy, learning,
  1329. 1:08:39friendship, relationship, growth with a
1330. 1:08:42little bit of magic in it. You with that
1331. 1:08:45I want to thank VAT management for
  1332. 1:08:47inviting to this such a vibrant a large
1333. 1:08:50audience here. I want to thank them for
1334. 1:08:53providing the opportunity. As I said as
1335. 1:08:55part of my VAT, it's my responsibility
1336. 1:08:57to give back to my community. Same thing
1337. 1:08:59holds good for you when you graduate out
1338. 1:09:02of the college. You may be an
1339. 1:09:03entrepreneur or you may be working for a

1343. 1:09:10you have the responsibility of giving
1344. 1:09:12back to the community and your community
1345. 1:09:14is also VAT. With that note, thank you
