STS Lesson 1.3 The Information Age and Artificial Intelligence — Transcript
Full transcript
- 0:00Good day everyone. Welcome to our lesson
- 0:031.3 discussion on STS. And for this
- 0:08lecture no, we will discuss the
- 0:10information age, artificial intelligence
- 0:13and society. So as promised last few
- 0:17discussions we're able na we're able to
- 0:19understand what science is and at the
- 0:22same time ano ah we're able to trace
- 0:25back kung saan nagsimula yung science.
- 0:29Okay. Through the ancient civilizations.
- 0:31So ngayon naman ang objective natin for
- 0:33today is tingnan naman natin yung
- 0:35current state ng science and especially
- 0:38kasi papunta na rin tayong technology.
- 0:41We take a look at how science shaped
- 0:44information and how science shaped our
- 0:47technology nowadays particularly to one
- 0:50of the tawag dito major technology na
- 0:55ginagamit ng mundo ngayon which is
- 0:57artificial intelligence.
- 0:59So we connect those to the information
- 1:02also discuss social media to AI and
- 1:07society.
- 1:08So with that being said no uh here are
- 1:11our objectives for today. We want to
- 1:14define the information age. We want to
- 1:17map how social media platforms monetize
- 1:20our attention and critic the state of AI
- 1:24in our context given as well na ' ba nga
- 1:28naging uso yung ano yung pag pagtayo no
- 1:32ng AI hub here in the Philippines
- 1:35through the Paxilica initiative.
- 1:39So we start first with the information
- 1:41age. Okay. This term you've heard when
- 1:45you were in grade 11 or 12 when you took
- 1:48media and information literacy. Isa to
- 1:50sa main components na dini-discuss with
- 1:53regards to how humans can become media
- 1:57and information literate. So ano nga ba
- 2:00ong information age? Recap lang natin ng
- 2:02kaunti.
- 2:04The information age. Ah ito ay tawag
- 2:08dito nagsimula, pinanwalaang nagsimula
- 2:10nung huling bahagi ng 20th century.
- 2:13Remember right now we are ba 2026 tayo
- 2:17but we are at the 21st century. So yung
- 2:2120th century na to na nire-refer is
- 2:231900s no to 1999. So basically yung last
- 2:27quarter is around 1970s
- 2:29no. So 'yun 'yung um pinaniniwalaang
- 2:33nagsimula yung information age. Pero
- 2:35sir, paano siya nagsimula? Is it because
- 2:37of you know the scientific revolution or
- 2:40technolog uh industrial revolution na
- 2:43technological advancements? Tingnan
- 2:46natin. Sabi dito, "The information age
- 2:50started when the information becomes
- 2:54rapidly and effortlessly accessible."
- 2:58No? So ibig sabihin ah mabilis na nating
- 3:01makuha yung information natin ' ba.
- 3:04Ngayon nga isang click lang natin sa
- 3:06Google, isang tanong, isang bigay lang
- 3:09natin ng prompt sa AI. Talagang
- 3:10napakarami ng information no yung ating
- 3:15nakukuha. And at the same time no, we
- 3:17are also giving a lot of information sa
- 3:20mga social media application sa mga
- 3:22ginagamit nating mga ah technologies
- 3:25because lahat ng activities natin ngayon
- 3:27nat-turn na into data and information.
- 3:30Now uh what we're trying to say here is
- 3:33that um mas lumawak na yung paraan ng
- 3:36pagpo-publish ng information. Hindi na
- 3:39lang siya pasulat
- 3:40no kundi pati may mga digital
- 3:43publications na. Because remember the
- 3:44third industrial revolution is
- 3:46characterized or was characterized by
- 3:49the development of modern computers
- 3:521960s 1970s tapos ' ba the fourth IR or
- 3:57the fourth industrial revolution yun
- 3:58naman ay ang internet and artificial
- 4:01intelligence. So talagang nag-boom yung
- 4:03technology.
- 4:05So um so sinasabi dito ano uh it's
- 4:09closely linked with the development
- 4:11application of computers na again
- 4:13pinag-usapan natin as the one of the
- 4:17major technologies in the third stage of
- 4:19the industrial revolution around 1960s
- 4:22to 1970s.
- 4:24Okay. And this information age is also
- 4:27called the digital age or the new media
- 4:30age kasi nga nagkaroon ng bagong
- 4:31platform for the information to become
- 4:34more accessible.
- 4:36So yung reason nabanggitan natin
- 4:39information and its dissemination
- 4:41evolved. Hindi na lang natin siya
- 4:44kini-keep sa sarili natin ngayon ' ba.
- 4:47Um, tawag dito kapagka may alam ka or
- 4:50kaya kapagka may pupuntahan ka hindi
- 4:54marami sa atin
- 4:56ah kumbaga bino-broadcast
- 5:00natin kasi we're proud of our
- 5:01achievements. We're proud of the places
- 5:03na kumbaga we're happy to go to the
- 5:06places that ah tawag dito pinupuntahan
- 5:09natin. But basically all of those are
- 5:11information. And sinasabi dito that
- 5:17um
- 5:18hindi na lang natin siya kinikimkim sa
- 5:20atin ano ah and also yung mga
- 5:23information yung mga data ng mga
- 5:25scientist ng iba't ibang mga
- 5:29professionals hindi na rin nila
- 5:30kini-keep sa sarili nila. That's why
- 5:31it's very important no yung ah
- 5:34information dissemination sa mga
- 5:36research. Hindi ba hindi naman
- 5:37nagtatapos ang research sa conclusion.
- 5:41Kailangan maiparating mo siya sa mga
- 5:43tao. At dahil sa information age, mas ah
- 5:47tawag dito, mas lumawak yung possibility
- 5:51na ma-diseminate yung information
- 5:53through different platforms, no? Pwedeng
- 5:55vlogs, pwedeng vlogs naman na video blog
- 5:59at marami pang iba.
- 6:01However, the problem is
- 6:04dahil sa dami ng information,
- 6:07no, nag-gow siya in such a way na hindi
- 6:10na natin, hindi tayo maka-keep up or
- 6:13hindi natin ma-handle yung sobrang
- 6:15daming information. Because remember,
- 6:17each information na nilalagay natin
- 6:19online, it ah tawag dito ah may ano iyan
- 6:23may equivalent yan na bytes of storage
- 6:27'di ba? Alam naman natin ngayon ah you
- 6:29have kilobytes,
- 6:31megabytes,
- 6:32gigabyes, thabytes and so on. So yung
- 6:36information daw hindi natin ma-handle,
- 6:38hindi natin ma-store ng maayos. And
- 6:40that's why Richard Wman 1980s no
- 6:44sinasabi niya na maaaring magkaroon ng
- 6:46information anxiety okay na kung saan
- 6:49hindi natin ma-collect at ma-manage
- 6:51lahat ng information at talamak yan
- 6:54hanggang ngayon hindi natin ma-manage
- 6:55lahat ng information kaya nga lumalawak
- 6:58ang misinformation at disinformation
- 7:02yung pagpapalaganap ng maling balita
- 7:06minsan intentionally
- 7:09minsan Yan talagang hindi na natin
- 7:11nache-check kung tama pa ba 'yun or deep
- 7:12fake pa. So it's better also no ah if
- 7:16you have time you ah look at the
- 7:18difference between misinformation and
- 7:21disinformation and you can tell us sa
- 7:23comment section nito if ano yung nakita
- 7:26ninyong difference nila.
- 7:29So now ah ang pinupuno lang dito is that
- 7:32because of the information age mas na
- 7:35sobrang dumami yung information
- 7:37nahirapan tayong mga tao to keep up to
- 7:40handle those information at habang mas
- 7:42dumadami yung information mas magiging
- 7:44mataas yung chance na magkaroon ng
- 7:47information anxiety because we cannot uh
- 7:52handle or significant amount of
- 7:55information or we cannot manage all
- 7:58those information.
- 8:00Pero ano ba yung features ng information
- 8:02age? Meron akong present dito na apat
- 8:05no. We have digitization,
- 8:07connectivity, datification and
- 8:10platformzization platformization.
- 8:13So what are those sir? I think very
- 8:17self-explanatory in digitization no? Ah
- 8:20kaya nga tinatawag yung information age
- 8:22na new media age or digital age because
- 8:25we're able to convert analog processes
- 8:28into digital formats na ang dati ba ah
- 8:33people read newspapers, people read uh
- 8:37hardbound books.
- 8:40But now we can read information from the
- 8:44internet.
- 8:46We read news ' ba sa Google sa mga news
- 8:50websites. Even sa Facebook may mga
- 8:53lumalabas namang mga balita. Now, siguro
- 8:57may iba sa inyo ang preference magbasa
- 8:59ng ebooks. 'Di ba nauso dati watpad
- 9:02until such time na ngayon maraming libro
- 9:05ay may digital format na rin. So ah it
- 9:09allows people to access information very
- 9:12easily because of digitization.
- 9:14Now syempre isa rin sa mga affordances
- 9:18ng information age sa atin ay ang
- 9:20connectivity. talaga namang ah napaka
- 9:24tawag dito connected no nung mga digital
- 9:29ah digital natives.
- 9:31Ibig sabihin tayo mga nanirahan na sa
- 9:34digital age no because um we're able to
- 9:38connect with other people from different
- 9:41countries 'di ba? Lalong-lalo na sa
- 9:44social media. But here in the
- 9:46information age, kung ikaw ay researcher
- 9:48halimbawa no and you're interested with
- 9:51uh Shakespeare and literature, mga
- 9:54sinulat ni William Shakespeare, dati you
- 9:57have to go sa European libraries in
- 10:00order for you to read those um
- 10:05literatures.
- 10:07But now
- 10:09since meron na nga sabi natin na
- 10:10digitize na nga yung um yung mga
- 10:14information hindi mo na kailangan
- 10:15pumunta sa iba't ibang lugar just so you
- 10:17can study um
- 10:21different knowledge or different
- 10:23information because now it's readily
- 10:25available to us.
- 10:28Um
- 10:30ah in our context pwede nating sabihin
- 10:32na connected na ang mundo. But syempre
- 10:35no uh we also need to take note na hindi
- 10:38lahat because hindi lahat nakaka-access
- 10:41sa technology na to. Hindi ba? We also
- 10:45have here datification.
- 10:47Lahat ng mga bagay na ginagawa natin can
- 10:50be converted to data.
- 10:52Basically yang ah tawag dito kapag
- 10:54nags-strava ka or kung ano man yung
- 10:57application na ginagamit mo to track
- 10:59your exercise
- 11:01no yung ano iba't ibang mga bagay those
- 11:04things can be ah converted into data
- 11:10lahat ng bagay kahit nga yung ID ah
- 11:13trend sa social media yung kung ikaw ba
- 11:16ay taga-Dyc dati yung ini-istory niyo na
- 11:19ano t's may favorite music favorite
- 11:21line. Those are also data.
- 11:25Pwede nating pang-train yun sa mga
- 11:27technologies at sa mga artificial
- 11:29intelligence because everything that we
- 11:32put online is data.
- 11:36Yung information na iyan data yan. Can
- 11:38be converted easily to data.
- 11:42Nao-automate yung mga processes because
- 11:44of that. And that curates also your
- 11:46algorithm ' ba sa social media.
- 11:49Platformization.
- 11:51So ito ah nakakapagbigay tayo ng
- 11:54platform sa iba't ibang mga tao
- 11:57especially those na mga professionals no
- 12:00because of the information age
- 12:02nabibigyan ng ah pagkakataon na
- 12:04makapag-share ng information online yung
- 12:07iba't ibang mga tao across different
- 12:10fields because may platform sila. Okay?
- 12:13To do so. And isa sa mga manifestations
- 12:17ng platform na to ay ito ang social
- 12:19media.
- 12:21I believe
- 12:23most of us
- 12:25if not all sabihin if not all we use
- 12:28social media everyday
- 12:31and this began in the early 2000 so
- 12:33na-establish na yung internet nung
- 12:35na-establish na yung ah nung Fourth
- 12:37Industrial Revolution nagsimula na nag
- 12:40ang ang social media no nagsimula yan sa
- 12:43Friendster nung 2002 tapos nagkaroon pa
- 12:47ng myspace friend yung Friendster hindi
- 12:48ko na masyadong naabutan Baka kayo
- 12:51naririnig niyo pa 'yung Friend pero ako
- 12:53narinig ko 'yung Friendster pero hindi
- 12:55ko na naabutang gamitin. Okay? Kasi ako
- 12:58grade 8 pa ako nagka-cellphone. So wala
- 13:01pa akong access sa ano sa Friendster
- 13:03non. Ah MySpace tapos Facebook nung
- 13:062004. Hanggang ngayon eh very ah tawag
- 13:10dito very popular no? Yung Framster kasi
- 13:12tsaka MySpace hindi na natin masyadong
- 13:14nagagamit ngayon. Okay face out na.
- 13:19You know the reason or you know the
- 13:21purpose of social media. It allows
- 13:23people to create, share and interact
- 13:25with content with information readily
- 13:29available online. Because again
- 13:31everything that you post, everything
- 13:34that you share, those are information
- 13:37and those can be converted into data.
- 13:41And social media now shapes
- 13:43communication
- 13:45definitely ' ba ah may paraan na tayo to
- 13:49communicate online. It also shapes
- 13:51culture because of yung mga trend
- 13:54setters. Hindi ba yung mga yung tawag
- 13:57dito trends kung ano yung viral syempre
- 14:00yan na yung magiging ano natin kumbaga
- 14:03sa maraming tao yan na yung magiging
- 14:05culture nila. Nung nauso sa atin yung
- 14:08Korean pop, K-pop, Korean dramas nung
- 14:13dumating sa atin ng halu.
- 14:15Yun talagang maraming kumbaga way of
- 14:18life ang nabago ' ba. mga gusto na
- 14:20nating magmukhang Koreano, mga gusto na
- 14:23natin magmukhang anime eh it's because
- 14:25of social media, no? Kasi nashe-shape
- 14:27niya yung culture pati yung mga
- 14:29businesses now, look at our businesses
- 14:32now. 'Di ba? Marami ng mga ah produkto
- 14:35na pwede nating mabili lang through
- 14:37online, even nga social media eh. Kasi
- 14:42ba sa ah sa TikTok ngayon for instance
- 14:46may TikTok shop na yung mga binibili
- 14:49niyo sa Shopee yung mga binibili niyo sa
- 14:52Lazada ' ba ah nako-connect siya doon sa
- 14:56Facebook at minsan lumalabas siya as ad
- 14:58sa Facebook at sa Facebook ngayon may
- 15:00marketplace pa na tinatawag so it also
- 15:03ships businesses and even politics.
- 15:06Definitely politics.
- 15:09'Di ba? Kasi ah very ano eh influential
- 15:13ng social media sa atin eh. Marami sa
- 15:15mga digital immigrants, no? Pagibah
- 15:18anuhin muna pala natin yung term. Ano ba
- 15:20'yung digital
- 15:22natives
- 15:24tsaka digital
- 15:27immigrants?
- 15:30Tayo mga digital natives tayo. Mga ano
- 15:33tayo eh talagang pinanganak tayo,
- 15:35nandiyan na 'yung technology, establish
- 15:37na yung industrial revolution. So tayo
- 15:40yung digital natives. Okay. Ah katutubo
- 15:45parang ah tawag dito yung ating yung
- 15:48ating pagkatao nakaot na doon sa
- 15:51technologies na meron tayo ngayon. Pero
- 15:53when we're talking about digital
- 15:55immigrants, ito yung mga ah magulang
- 15:57natin. Ito yung mga guardians natin, mga
- 15:59lolo't lola natin na bago sa technology
- 16:02na yan. Kasi nabuhay naman sila. Nawala
- 16:05'yan eh. kumbaga sila yung naga-adopt
- 16:07ngayon sa technologies na meron tayo.
- 16:10But then again, um ang mga digital
- 16:14immigrants din kasi ang mabilis na ma
- 16:17tawag dito ma-fall doon sa mga
- 16:20misinformation tsaka disinformation na
- 16:22binabanggit natin kanina. Kasi madalas
- 16:25yung mga nakikita nila pinaniniwalaan
- 16:27din nila sa social media. 'Yun nga lang
- 16:29mga simpleng ayuda 'yung magco-comment
- 16:32ka daw ng cellphone number mo tapos
- 16:34tatawagan ka ba maraming nasa-scam sa
- 16:37mga ah e-wallet na platforms kasi
- 16:41nase-send nila yung OTP nila. Those are
- 16:44ano manifestations of the effects of
- 16:46social media sa mga digital immigrants.
- 16:48Eh paano pa kaya sa politics na ba
- 16:51napakaraming nangyayari Pilipinas pa
- 16:53lang napakarami ng ah anong tawag dito?
- 16:56Political controversies ang ating
- 17:00nararanasan. Hindi ba? So sila yung
- 17:04pinaka ano dito, pinaka-prone sa
- 17:06pag-shape ng politics, no? Yung mga
- 17:09digital immigrants natin na kapag may
- 17:11post kunwari to pray Sarah Duterte or
- 17:13kung sino mang mga politicians na yan,
- 17:15naniniwala sila. At kung makikita mo
- 17:18yung mga comment section ah dun sa mga
- 17:21nagpo-protekto sa iba't ibang mga
- 17:23politicians, mostly mga digital
- 17:25immigrants natin.
- 17:28Okay? No. Ah kumbaga ah we have to take
- 17:32note ano na very influential social
- 17:36media lalo na sa mga digitals.
- 17:39Okay? Kasi halos lahat ng information na
- 17:42nakita ka nila online pinaniniwalaan
- 17:44nila kasi posted eh. kahit na deep fake
- 17:47yan, kahit na AI generated yan,
- 17:50maniniwala sila kasi naka-post sa social
- 17:52media.
- 17:54And that influence ' ba nung yung ating
- 17:582016 elections and 2022 elections.
- 18:01Kung sino yung masikat sa social media,
- 18:03yun ang nanalog.
- 18:06So alam niyo na yung mga examples na yun
- 18:08ng social media. Ngayon pinapanood niyo
- 18:10to sa isang social media platform which
- 18:11is YouTube.
- 18:13Ayan.
- 18:16So ano yung affordances sa atin ng
- 18:17social media? Okay. Um may limang bagay
- 18:21na nakasulat dito. Identity,
- 18:24interaction, algorithmic curation,
- 18:27virality mechanics, and monetizes
- 18:29attention and data.
- 18:32Identity. Madali na to. Because of the
- 18:34social media platform, you can establish
- 18:36your name. You can establish your
- 18:38reputation.
- 18:40ba yung mga sikat ngayon na mga
- 18:42tiktokers yung mga sikat ngayon na sa
- 18:45Facebook si Lance for instance si Baet
- 18:49at kung sino-sino pa yung mga vloggers
- 18:51na pinapanood niyo. nagkaroon sila ng
- 18:53reputation because of social media dahil
- 18:55sumikat iyung kanilang content hindi ba
- 18:58um nagkakaroon sila ng reputation and I
- 19:02hope ba and I for sure you hope as well
- 19:05na ginagamit nila yung reputation nila
- 19:06sa tama hindi para mag ah tawag dito mag
- 19:10ah promote ng mga gambling platforms
- 19:14may nagpamigay nung nakaraan iPhone 17
- 19:17pero nag-promote naman ng ano mga
- 19:19gambling na nakakasira sa buhay at hanap
- 19:22buuhay ng mga tao
- 19:25' ba sana ginagamit sa tama okay hindi
- 19:27sa pagpo-promote ng kung ano-ano, hindi
- 19:29sa pagshe-share ng mga fake news hindi
- 19:32ba sana nagagamit yung identity sa tama
- 19:36interactions
- 19:38because of social media you can interact
- 19:40very self-explanatory. You can like, you
- 19:42can share, comment sa TikTok you can do
- 19:45stitch ah duets. 'Di ba? Stitches and
- 19:48duets ata kung hindi ako nagkakamali.
- 19:49Doon yan sa TikTok. Ah kahit hindi mo
- 19:52kakilala basta gumawa ng content ta's
- 19:55ikaw pwede ka ring makipag-det sa kanya.
- 19:57Hindi ba?
- 19:59Creation of algorithm. Ito yung sinasabi
- 20:01natin kanina. Kasi nga lahat ng ah
- 20:07mga ginagawa mo online, 'yung
- 20:09pags-strava mo, 'yung pagtitingin mo sa
- 20:11Shopee ng mga products,
- 20:14lahat ng bagay. Yung pagse-search mo
- 20:16lang sa Facebook ng kunwari pangalan ng
- 20:19tao or kaya ng hashtag hashtag walang
- 20:23pasok. Maya-maya makikita mo na sa feed
- 20:26mo puro hashtag walang pasok yung
- 20:28naka-post.
- 20:29Kasi those are algorithmic oration.
- 20:33It prioritize engagement kung saan ka
- 20:35engaged yun ang ibibigay sayo ng social
- 20:37media. Kung ikaw ay scientist, future
- 20:41scientist at nagse-search ka online ah
- 20:43sa Facebook or sa other social media
- 20:45platforms ng ah mga bagay, mga science
- 20:49articles, mga science videos, for sure
- 20:51ibibigay sao ng iyong FYP, ng iyong ah
- 20:56news feed, mga ganyan.
- 20:59And take note ano, it prioritizes
- 21:01engagement not necessarily accuracy.
- 21:05Basta
- 21:07related doon sa iyong interests. Kahit
- 21:11dahil nga mayung sobrang daming
- 21:13information, hindi na ma-double check ng
- 21:15lahat yung information na yon, ibibigay
- 21:18sayo ng social media yan.
- 21:21Fake news man yan. Totoo man yan. Lahat
- 21:25yan sama-sama sa social media.
- 21:29which is ba suddening kasi ano eh
- 21:35nagagamit yung social media to ah
- 21:40to tawag dito to disseminate
- 21:44those kind of information
- 21:47varity mechanics syempre network effects
- 21:50amplify content rapidly ikaw mag-share
- 21:54ka ng something kunwari mag-post ka ng
- 21:56tuldok
- 21:57Tapos may sikat na artista nakapag-post
- 21:59din ng tuldok ' ba sa kanila sobrang
- 22:02daming reactions kasi nga ano eh ang
- 22:05taas na nung kanilang following eh ' ba
- 22:07ang taas na nung kanilang community eh
- 22:11so naa-amplify yung content agad-agad
- 22:15kapag naka-follow ka dito sa isang sikat
- 22:16na artista mag-post man siya mayaya
- 22:20receive mo na makikita mo na sa news
- 22:22feed meme
- 22:24dahil maraming naka-follow sa kanya niya
- 22:27maraming nagre-react
- 22:29and that's virality mechanics.
- 22:32Hindi ka magiging viral sa isa mo lang
- 22:33content. Kailangan meron kang something
- 22:35doon sa caption mo, doon sa video mo
- 22:38that can really catch the attention of
- 22:40people and at the same time ah tawag
- 22:43dito can really help you na mapunta ka
- 22:47sa algorithm or sa mga news feeds or FYP
- 22:52ng ibang tao. You have to be uh creative
- 22:56no in creating your content.
- 22:59It monetizes attention and data
- 23:02definitely kasi lahat ng mga bagay na
- 23:04nakikita natin sa Facebook yung mga
- 23:06pinapanood natin pwedeng ma-monetize
- 23:08yung mga taong sikat ' ba yung mga yung
- 23:12mga products na tinitingnan natin
- 23:13mamo-monetize yan kapag ikaw ay
- 23:15na-entice nila to buy those products.
- 23:21So meron ditong discussion prompt no ah
- 23:23na you can answer dito as one of your
- 23:26attendance no as part of your attendance
- 23:30for this week pa lang. So nas nabanggit
- 23:32na natin, na-discuss na natin ang social
- 23:34media, na-discuss na natin ng
- 23:36information age. And right now we know
- 23:39that social media has transformed the
- 23:41way we communicate, learn and access
- 23:43information. However, the problem is
- 23:46right now it also enable the rapid
- 23:49spread of misinformation
- 23:51disinformation and provide the new
- 23:54avenues for different things no cyber
- 23:56bullying harassment and online abuse. So
- 23:59ang tanong dito, "How can we practice
- 24:02responsible digital citizenship to help
- 24:04prevent cyber bullying and the spread of
- 24:06misinformation,
- 24:08fake news, or on social media?" So you
- 24:11can try to answer this. Syempre mga
- 24:14maiikli lang na sagot ano, two to three
- 24:16sentences may do English or Filipino or
- 24:20taglish diyan sa ating common section.
- 24:27Now we move to our the highlight the
- 24:32highlight of this discussion artificial
- 24:34intelligence
- 24:36nabanggit na natin last time that
- 24:38artificial intelligence is a technology
- 24:41but we also mentioned that uh we can use
- 24:46these technologies
- 24:48pero hindi ibig sabihin nito that it can
- 24:51you know
- 24:54It can improve our society agad-agad. It
- 24:57can affect. It can affect. It can
- 24:59influence our society. And definitely sa
- 25:02AI na-influence na yung mga tao, tao sa
- 25:06lipunan sa paggamit nito. Okay? Marami
- 25:09sa atin. Hindi ko tinatanggi, I'm using
- 25:11AI. But 'di ba hindi lahat kasi ng
- 25:14technologies kailangan mong gamitin
- 25:16lagi-lagi eh. Kasi sabi ko nga sa inyo
- 25:18ang baril, ang bomba, those are also uh
- 25:20those are also technologies.
- 25:24Pero hindi mo naman kailangang araw-araw
- 25:26gamitin yun.
- 25:28So we have to use technologies in
- 25:31moderation.
- 25:34At ito yung mga pag-uusapan natin
- 25:35pagdating ng chapter 2 no yung about sa
- 25:39technology. But to give you a brief uh
- 25:43historical context about AI, hindi naman
- 25:45kasi talaga siya makabago.
- 25:49Ang AI kasi
- 25:52meron ang konsepto niya 1950s pa lang
- 25:54although hindi pa ganon ka-established.
- 25:58Kasabay nung pagde-develop nila ng
- 26:01computers no. Um, naisip din nila baka
- 26:06pwedeng 'yung mga devices na 'yon can
- 26:09imitate how we think
- 26:12or can, you know, 'yun nga can imitate
- 26:15humans.
- 26:17So bakit ba nagsimula ang AI? So yun nga
- 26:20sinabi ko it began with the dream of
- 26:22creating machines that could think like
- 26:24us and can solve problems like us. Para
- 26:27sa ganon, mas mabilis yung pagpo-process
- 26:31ng mga bagay-bagay.
- 26:34Kasi alam naman natin tayo hindi naman
- 26:36tayo 247 na full of energy. We need to
- 26:39sleep. nagpapagod tayo. So na-realize ng
- 26:43mga scientist ng mga professionals baka
- 26:47pwedeng mag-dvice tayo ng way na kung
- 26:49saan ah maging continuous yung mga
- 26:51processes even we are resting.
- 26:55So that's why naisip nila baka pwede
- 26:57tayong gawa ng machines na
- 26:58nakakapag-isip na katulad natin na
- 27:00nakakapag-solve ng problems na katulad
- 27:02natin na hindi hindi natin kailangan
- 27:05100% tayo lang yung tatrabaho at
- 27:07tatrabaho ng lahat.
- 27:10And nagsimula yung term na AI nung 1950s
- 27:13kay Alan Kuring and John McCarthy.
- 27:18At si Allan Turing may pinopose na
- 27:20touring tests. So ano itong touring test
- 27:22na to? So basically ah yung AI kasi dati
- 27:25ay parang textbased communication lang.
- 27:28Wala pang image generation, wala pa yung
- 27:31kung ano-ano. Magbibigay ka ng prom
- 27:32tapos ' ba makakapag-create ka na ng
- 27:35poster ng buwan ng wika. Hindi katulad
- 27:37ngayon na sikat online ' ba lahat nung
- 27:40poster nung isang school eh AI
- 27:42generated.
- 27:44Anyways, ano yung touring test? So
- 27:46basically um if you are if you were a
- 27:50participant of touring test dati, may
- 27:54tao makikipag-usap siya sa isang device
- 27:57basically
- 28:00ah with the premise na ang kinakausap
- 28:02niya ay tao
- 28:03and may isang machine. So isang tao,
- 28:06isang machine.
- 28:07So makikipag-usap lang 'yung ano,
- 28:10makikipag-usap lang 'yung participant.
- 28:13And then at the end of the activity,
- 28:14kailangan niyang ma-identify sino yung
- 28:16tao.
- 28:18If hindi niya ma-identify kung sino yung
- 28:21tao, yung machine ay nakapasa sa touring
- 28:23test kasi nagaya niya kung paano
- 28:26mag-isip yung tao.
- 28:29But if the person,
- 28:32yung participant naidentify niya sino
- 28:34yung tao sa kausap niya,
- 28:36nag-fail yung machine as an AI or
- 28:39nag-fail yung machine doun sa touring
- 28:40tests kasi hindi niya pa kayang mag-isip
- 28:43at mag ah mag-solve ng problems like us.
- 28:48So ganun yung premise ng touring test.
- 28:52So nabigay yung term na AI nung 1956
- 28:56nung si John McCarthy and piners ko sa
- 29:00isang conference yung artificial
- 29:02intelligence na makakagawa ng machines
- 29:04that can that could think like humans.
- 29:08Kaso syempre 1950s yan hindi pa ganon ka
- 29:12enhance yung mga technologies natin.
- 29:14Marami talagang setbs yan.
- 29:17Okay. Although it showed a lot of
- 29:20promise pero limited pa rin kasi yung
- 29:24storage dati yung computing power din
- 29:27kasi nga ang computers dati hindi pa
- 29:29naman ganon ka-modern. 1960s 1970s pa
- 29:31nag-establish yung modern computers. But
- 29:35itong mga 1950s na to, yung mga panahon
- 29:38na yan and so on, it a lot of
- 29:41limitations because of how will they
- 29:43store the data. Kasi if you will train
- 29:46AI definitely it will cost a lot of
- 29:50money and at the same time a lot of
- 29:52storage.
- 29:54So yun yung problem dati and it led to
- 29:58AI winters. Basically pag sa m AI
- 30:00winters, ito yung mga periods na kung
- 30:02saan yung mga taong nag-i-invest sa AI
- 30:05nag-back up nag-backout sila kasi wala
- 30:08naman pala hindi pa natin kaya nung
- 30:10panahon na yan.
- 30:12But because of the third industrial
- 30:14revolution and because uh nga ba
- 30:18na-establish yung computers
- 30:21ah those big data and powerful computers
- 30:25together with deep learning it drive the
- 30:28applications of AI in language, vision,
- 30:30robotics and generative tools. Kaya nung
- 30:341990s meron na talagang AI non kasi nga
- 30:38na-solve na nila iyung problem about
- 30:40storage and computing power.
- 30:43Okay? So yun siya.
- 30:46At ang AI ay isang big umbrella term.
- 30:50Ang artificial intelligence
- 30:52napakalawak niyan.
- 30:58Meron pa yang iba't ibang subset.
- 31:01Okay.
- 31:03At mangikhina natin dito sa slide na
- 31:04yan. Anong sabi dito?
- 31:08AI is the big umbrella.
- 31:11It is the big idea of making machine
- 31:14smart. Ginagawa mong matalino yung
- 31:17machine like us. For example, si Siri,
- 31:21si Alexa dati or even si Google dati.
- 31:24May ganyan yan. Yung mag-o-ok Google ka
- 31:26lang. Um tapos if you have questions ba
- 31:31Siri Alexa and others will answer your
- 31:34questions.
- 31:36Parang ganun din naman sa mga proms
- 31:37natin ngayon ba na if you search kung
- 31:41ano if you use any AI assistant
- 31:44technologies
- 31:46basta magbigay ka ng prompt or magbigay
- 31:48ka ng question sasagutin ka talaga
- 31:50niyan.
- 31:52But remember human strain AI.
- 31:55Kapag ikaw ay nagbigay ng prompt diyan,
- 31:57ia-analyze yan as data
- 32:01at naghahanap siya sa internet sa
- 32:03worldwide web ng connected doon sa
- 32:06prompt na binigay mo
- 32:09and the AI will try to make sense of
- 32:12those things tapos babalik niya sa A
- 32:15yung yung sagot.
- 32:18But again, it can be wrong.
- 32:22It can make mistakes. Pwedeng mali yung
- 32:25pagkakaintindihan sa prompt mo or mali
- 32:28yung nakuha niya ring information.
- 32:30So you have to check.
- 32:33But right now, nagiging successful na
- 32:35tayo in making machine smart.
- 32:40Okay.
- 32:42Kahit nga sa iba't ibang machines, hindi
- 32:44lang sa computer no. Where yung iba't
- 32:47iba nating mga kasangkapan, mga devices,
- 32:49we we made them smart na
- 32:54sa washing machine nga lang na
- 32:56automatic. Hindi ba kayang kayang
- 32:58i-sense ng device ah ng nung machine na
- 33:01yun kung gaano kabigat yung nilagay mong
- 33:03damit at kung ilang minuto niya yung
- 33:05kailangang labhan.
- 33:07That's a big sub ano big set big term.
- 33:10The big umbrella is AI.
- 33:13Now, what's ML? This is not your
- 33:15favorite uh eames ano ML is machine
- 33:19learning here.
- 33:22And ah dito naman syempre dahil nga
- 33:25naturuan na na-train natin yung AI to uh
- 33:28na maging smart dito yung mga machines
- 33:31natututo na sila ng kusa based on data
- 33:34and nag-i-improve sila over time. So ano
- 33:37ibig sabihin nito sir? Ano yung machine
- 33:38learning na to? Halimbawa yung Netflix
- 33:41kapag ka nagbukas ka ng Netflix mo at
- 33:45nanood ka ng some for example
- 33:47Spider-Man. Meron bang sa Spider Netflix
- 33:50sa Spider ah Spider-Man sa Netflix or sa
- 33:53Disney Plus ata yun. Anyways, um pag
- 33:57natapos mo 'yun at kapag engage ka do,
- 34:00maintindihan ng data yun for machines na
- 34:02ito yung gusto mo. So sa algorithm niya,
- 34:05yan yung ire-recommend niya sa'yo.
- 34:08Kaya kapagka natapos mong panoorin yun,
- 34:12Netflix will recommend you to watch
- 34:13other videos. Ganun din sa YouTube.
- 34:17Hindi ba? Kapagka nanood ka for example
- 34:20ng ah video about polynomials,
- 34:24miya-maya pagkapatos mo na yun, bibigyan
- 34:27ka ng recommendations ng YouTube na ito
- 34:29naman yung panoorin mo na related sa
- 34:30polynomials.
- 34:33So
- 34:35they learn from us.
- 34:38Those machines learn from us. And
- 34:39nagi-i-improve sila overtime kasi mas na
- 34:42mas mas nak-create nila yung algorithm
- 34:44mo.
- 34:47Dlan, it's not dean lister. DL is deep
- 34:51learning. Mas malalim na pag-aaral ng
- 34:54mga machines. At ito ay advanced na
- 34:57machine learning that uses neural
- 34:59networks with many layers. So halimbawa
- 35:03yung Google Translate ba ang Google
- 35:06Translate can uh translate from English
- 35:09to any other uh languages na ginagamit.
- 35:15At syempre kada language ng English
- 35:17Filipino tapos minsan nga nagkakaroon ng
- 35:19Cebuano or kaya English to German,
- 35:23English to
- 35:25ah Malay,
- 35:27Japanese ni Hongo. Hindi ba? Ah
- 35:30napakaraming ano non training na ginawa
- 35:33nung artificial intelligence. So deep
- 35:35learning siya. So nagsasanga-sanga na
- 35:37siya. So syempre may ibang may iba
- 35:39siyang way to process English to
- 35:41Filipinos, sa English to kunwari
- 35:45mandarine.
- 35:46Iba-iba yun. So deep learning yun.
- 35:48Busising pag-aaral.
- 35:51And then you also have here CV which is
- 35:55computer vision. So ibig sabihin
- 35:57nakakakita na rin yung mga machines na
- 35:59yan. They're able to understand images.
- 36:02Kaya nga ' ba nakwento ko sa inyo last
- 36:04time ang Facebook kaya niyang mag-tag
- 36:06people sa photos mo automatically even
- 36:08without you tagging the person directly
- 36:11or manually.
- 36:14Ganun din sa ah tawag dito ganun din sa
- 36:19iyong gallery sa phones. Hindi ba? Kasi
- 36:23hindi ka na kumbaga kung nag-picture
- 36:25yung katabi mo sa phone mo
- 36:28hindi mo ginagawa ng album pero makikita
- 36:30mo miam-maya may album na na naka-create
- 36:33for that person because machines can now
- 36:37see and can understand images dahil nga
- 36:40na-train siya na those faces are also
- 36:42data. Kapag ka nakita niyang magkamukha,
- 36:45isasama niya sa isang album or kaya
- 36:47kapag nakita niya na ito yun sa
- 36:49Facebook, ita-tag niya yun sa photo mo.
- 36:53That's computer vision. And all of those
- 36:56are part of this big umbrella term,
- 36:59artificial intelligence.
- 37:04So napakarami naman talagang
- 37:08ah naitutulong ang AI no. Lalong-lalo na
- 37:11nung umusbong yung mga ngayong 2020s
- 37:14nung pandemic no yung chat GPT.
- 37:16Nag-improve yung mga models niya.
- 37:18Nagkaroon ng iba't iba pang AI, meta AI,
- 37:22Claud
- 37:24Cilot at marami pang iba. Definitely
- 37:27hindi lang naman yun.
- 37:30Marami siyang natutulong in terms of
- 37:32STS.
- 37:35At note please note that pwede nating
- 37:39i-relate siya sa lahat ng terms na yan
- 37:41sa STS because AI is developed through
- 37:43scientific research.
- 37:46Ito ay nangangailangan ng computer
- 37:47science definitely kasi sa computer to
- 37:50ginagawa. Tine-train ng AI through
- 37:52computers. mathematics because we're
- 37:54talking about algorithms, we're talking
- 37:56about equations na para mas ma-train
- 37:59natin yung AI to do uh to do things
- 38:03accurately and neuroscience because it
- 38:06needs to think like humans. It need to
- 38:09uh it needs to write like humans.
- 38:14technology it becomes real through
- 38:16applications such as chatbot chatbots at
- 38:20GPT o mga ginagamit iyung mga chatbots
- 38:22na AI robots because robots are also
- 38:26powered by artificial intelligence yung
- 38:28mga programming diyan si Tesla
- 38:31self-driving cars gumagamit siya ng
- 38:33artificial intelligence to to you know
- 38:36para mag-selfdrive siya in such
- 38:40medical tools to ah para mas maging Ah
- 38:44precise 'yung mga operations 'yung
- 38:47pag-oopera, AI and it affects how we
- 38:51leave, work and communicate. Kaso ang
- 38:53problem it tra issues on ethics. Ethical
- 38:57pa ba na sa lahat ng sinusulat natin,
- 38:59lahat ng ating mga ginagawa eh AI na
- 39:02lang aasahan natin?
- 39:04Hindi ba ethical? Hindi ah kumbaga ano
- 39:07ba yun? Ethical pa ba yon?
- 39:10Baka we can go back to basics and we
- 39:12talk like us. We think like us hindi
- 39:15natin kailangan yung
- 39:18application na tayo lang din naman ang
- 39:20gumawa kasi ano na eh marami ng mga ah
- 39:25tawag dito issues talaga diyan. Ethical
- 39:26ba na mag generate ka ng posters
- 39:32AI?
- 39:34You have the talent eh. We have the art.
- 39:37We have the skills. We are humans. Bakit
- 39:39kailangan pa nating magpagawa ng poster
- 39:42sa AI?
- 39:45Issues about jobs.
- 39:48Hindi ba? Kasi meron na nga daw iba na
- 39:52kaya na silang palitan ng AI.
- 39:55Pero again, sinasabi ko no, AI
- 39:57artificial intelligence yan. tayo kung
- 40:00AI man tayo, authentic ang intelligence
- 40:02natin.
- 40:04Definitely hindi tayo dapat palitan ng
- 40:06AI.
- 40:09It also raises inequality kasi ang
- 40:10gumagamit diyan ay yung mga may access
- 40:13lang doon
- 40:15decision making. Minsan inaasa mo na
- 40:18lang sa AI ang decisyon mo sa buhay
- 40:22' ba.
- 40:24Ayun
- 40:27isa sa mga prominenteng case study or
- 40:30case rather na pwede nating pag-aralan
- 40:32dito ay angilica.
- 40:36Ang paxilica hindi niyo itatayo no doon
- 40:38sa sa New Clark City. Ang Paxilica ay
- 40:42isang initiative AI partnership ito na
- 40:46ang may hawak ay US. Syempre kalaban
- 40:49nila ang China dito ba kasi ang China
- 40:52meron na rin yangang mga ah AI hubs
- 40:56no. Ang Sheng ang Shengen tuloy visa yun
- 41:00sa Europe. Ang Shenzen Sorting Center
- 41:03yan mga supply chains din yan for AI.
- 41:05Kaya nga napakarami ng mga products, mga
- 41:07semiconductor chips na ah napo-produce
- 41:10din sa China.
- 41:13But syempre ang US gusto niyang ah
- 41:16talunin yun yung idea na iyon. Hence
- 41:18meron silang initiative and it launched
- 41:22to build secure supply chains for AI,
- 41:25for semiconductors, for minerals at
- 41:28nakita at ba um definitely hindi naman
- 41:32nila kayang mag-stand on their own.
- 41:33Kailangan nila ang iba't ibang mga bansa
- 41:37for them to harness
- 41:39minerals.
- 41:41Okay?
- 41:43Ah and ayun the Philippines through our
- 41:47president we joined the Paxilica in 2026
- 41:51April if not mistaken. At isa sa mga
- 41:54plano nila sa initiative na iyon or sa
- 41:56partnership na iyon iyon ay
- 41:57mag-establish ng kauna-unahang AI native
- 42:00industrial acceleration hub sa Southeast
- 42:03Asia.
- 42:06Okay? At yun ay itatayo sa New Clark
- 42:08City. Wala pa namang pirmahan na
- 42:10nagaganap sa November pa. But ah highly
- 42:14likely syempre pipirma ang government
- 42:16natin because you know [tawanan]
- 42:19alay natin ang US. Tinitingan na natin
- 42:21as alay ang US. ang Imperialist US at
- 42:25nasakop tayo niyan. So very influential
- 42:27sa atin ang United States.
- 42:30Sa November ang pirmahan at ' ba kung
- 42:32nababalitaan niyo kapagka daw hindi tayo
- 42:36pumirma
- 42:38mawala sa atin yang opportunity na yan
- 42:41create the first AI hub at mapunta sa
- 42:44iba pang mga Southeast Asian countries.
- 42:46Sa akin walang problema sa kanila na
- 42:48lang.
- 42:49Uh
- 42:51this initiative aims to strengthen
- 42:55daw our economic security, magkaroon ng
- 42:58investment sa high tech mga technologies
- 43:01and position the PA the Philippines as a
- 43:04regional hub for AI driven industries.
- 43:07But then again,
- 43:10ano yung mga opportunities and concerns
- 43:12no? Ah nabanggit na natinung
- 43:14opportunities. Sabi makakatulong sa atin
- 43:17sa sa ekonomiya natin kasi nga
- 43:19makakapag-provide ng jobs itong AI hub
- 43:21na ito sa mga tao.
- 43:23Um magiging tanyag tayo sa industry ng
- 43:26AI, semiconductor manufacturing at sa
- 43:29iba't ibang industries. Kasi nga sa
- 43:30Pilipinas ginagawa ngayon yung mga
- 43:33semiconductors na yan na nanggagaling sa
- 43:35iba't ibang mga minerals ano
- 43:39nag mga high skill jobs tataas ang
- 43:42kumbaga bababa ang unemployment rate
- 43:44natin so makakatulong daw siya sa
- 43:46ekonomiya natin
- 43:49but we have to take note na ang parang
- 43:52mangyayari lang sa atin diyan sa
- 43:53Paxilica na yan na AI hub
- 43:56'yung lupa lang sa atin kumbaga itatayo
- 43:59siya sa lupa natin pero wala pa sa
- 44:02kasunduan. Ano ba yung technology
- 44:05transfer?
- 44:07Ito ba ay kumbaga yung bang technology
- 44:09na to? Pwede ba nating sabihin atin?
- 44:13Baka kasi mamaya ang habol lang sa atin
- 44:15ay ang ating land
- 44:17at minerals.
- 44:21Baka naghanap lang pala talaga sila ng
- 44:23lupa na kung saan maai silang maraming
- 44:25makuhang minerals. dahil sa Pilipinas
- 44:27maraming minerals na pwedeng i-convert
- 44:29into semiconductors and different
- 44:32materials. Baka pinoposition lang nila
- 44:34yung 'di ba yung
- 44:37kanilang hub here just so they can
- 44:41exploit a lot of minerals from us.
- 44:45That's a problem.
- 44:47Wala rin kasing technology transfer pang
- 44:50nababanggit.
- 44:52Yun nga yung sinasabi ko na pwede man
- 44:54nating sabihing atin itong mga
- 44:56technologies na gawa dito sa AI hub na
- 44:58ito
- 45:01or baka mamaya kasi sasabihin made in
- 45:03the United States of America din
- 45:06ba at mas magiging dependent tayo sa
- 45:09technology sa kanila
- 45:13and syempre AI ito AI is very hungry
- 45:18sa tubig at energy
- 45:21na kung saan it may increase pressure on
- 45:25water eh kulang na kulang na nga tayo sa
- 45:27tubig sa kuryente pagka mahal-mahal na
- 45:30and land resources to support AI
- 45:32infrastructure and take note na ah
- 45:40take note ang AI itong AI hub na 'to 247
- 45:43to gagana hindi naman umaga lang hindi
- 45:46lang naman gabi lang
- 45:48247 Seven, kailangan niya ng electricity
- 45:51to power 'di ba? Ah to ah to function.
- 45:56Kailangan niya ng water to cool down its
- 45:58systems.
- 46:01That's a problem. Very very ah tawag
- 46:04dito ah problematic.
- 46:10It raises questions about whether
- 46:11Filipinos will catch longterm value.
- 46:14Kasi nga makikita baka mamaya cheap
- 46:17labor naman.
- 46:19Alam naman natin sa Pilipinas napakababa
- 46:21ng pasahod. Kaya nga ang mga US based na
- 46:25companies, mga Asians ang hina-hire sa
- 46:29mga call center nila, sa BPO nila kasi
- 46:32mababao dito.
- 46:35So basically, tayo ba ang makikinabang
- 46:37dito or sila yung makikinabang? Tayo pa
- 46:40y'yung nawalan ng resources. tayo pa
- 46:41'yung naubusan ng tubig at kuryente. So
- 46:44those are concerns. At itong mga
- 46:46concerns na 'to ay kailangan pagisipan
- 46:49maigi ng government. Are they willing to
- 46:51take the risk? Kasi baka mamaya we
- 46:54become more dependent on foreign
- 46:57technology capital and markets. At tayo
- 47:01ang taga-supply lang ng cheap minerals
- 47:03nga marami tayong minerals in labor.
- 47:09Marami pang problemang AI no hindi lang
- 47:11sa ekonomiya okay na it increases
- 47:15productivity definitely pero it can
- 47:17displace jobs and widen inequality.
- 47:20Talaga namang very productive if gagamit
- 47:22ka lagi ng AI. But is it really worth
- 47:26the risks na
- 47:29maraming trabaho ang mawawala because of
- 47:31that? Paano ang mga tao na dapat
- 47:33nabubuhay?
- 47:35'Di ba? Environment, it requires high
- 47:38energy, water, marami pang bagay.
- 47:42At maliban do yung digital spaces din
- 47:44kasi masyado ng maraming AI generated
- 47:48material sa Facebook.
- 47:54pag nakikita mo yung iba't ibang mga
- 47:56eskwelahan yung Dep schools
- 47:59ang dami na
- 48:02hindi lang sa mga eskwelahan
- 48:05maging sa mga ano
- 48:09tawag dito mga iba't ibang bagay sa
- 48:12politics nga lang eh napakaraming AI
- 48:14nakakapag-generate pa ng deep fakeso
- 48:18ganito ginawa sa AI itong mukha niya
- 48:20sinabi niya daw ito hindi
- 48:24Sorry misination and disinformation
- 48:28privacy risk din ito. Okay? So ayun
- 48:34and this one wala to sa slide niyo but I
- 48:37added here um an article from the United
- 48:41Nations.
- 48:42Sabi dito our scientist
- 48:45um estimated
- 48:47ano yung mangyayari sa AI. ano yung
- 48:50mangyayari or gaano kadami rather yung
- 48:54ginagamit na resources ng AI and sabi
- 48:57nila AI is threatening natural resources
- 49:00for billions of people.
- 49:04Okay? You can click sa article na ito to
- 49:07further read this. Although I will also
- 49:09include uh this as part of my
- 49:12instructions about your recitation so
- 49:14that you can also share what you have
- 49:16learned from this article.
- 49:19Okay. Ah sabi dito oh ah napakalaki ng
- 49:23mako-consume na kuryente ng AI. So for
- 49:25example yung projected demand sa 2030
- 49:28yung yung kailangan niya daw na kuryente
- 49:31twice the France 2025 Electric
- 49:34Consumption.
- 49:36Napakalaki.
- 49:38France na yun ah. We're talking about
- 49:40France. one of the most populated
- 49:45countries sa Europe
- 49:49tourist destination din
- 49:51ba because of Paris
- 49:54um
- 49:56napakarami nito carbon footprint water
- 49:59footprint na kung saan yung at yung mga
- 50:01data center to cool down the systems ng
- 50:04AI it will use annually 9.3 3on lit
- 50:09na sana ay mapupunta na sa 1.3 billion
- 50:12people sa Africa para magamit nila as
- 50:15water
- 50:17kasi ang AI din mapili yan sa water.
- 50:19Gusto niyan yung ano pure na water.
- 50:22Hindi hindi waste water ang pwede diyan
- 50:25to cool down its system. Kailangan yung
- 50:27ano talaga filtered
- 50:29malinis na tubig
- 50:32to cool down. Marami pang bagay, marami
- 50:34pang data dito. Pero ang dalawa sa mga
- 50:38AI giants talaga ay ang US China.
- 50:42Talagang dito sa mga taong ito
- 50:44napakarami na gumagamit ng AI, sa
- 50:47businesses, sa personal use and such.
- 50:53Tapos isa pa, electronic waste. Syempre
- 50:57ang mga machines na yan, those are
- 50:58powered by electricity. Those are
- 51:00electronic waves.
- 51:03So ayun.
- 51:06Alam mo maganda madaling sabihin ong mga
- 51:09bagay na to na nasa slides. Ano ba ano
- 51:11yung mga ah as AI users? How to become
- 51:14ethical, how to be responsible.
- 51:16Napakadali eh. Napakadaling sabihin na
- 51:18gamitin mo yung AI sa tama.
- 51:21na mag-double check ka ng information,
- 51:24na respetuhin mo yung privacy ng tao, na
- 51:26maging tapat ka bilang isang estudyante,
- 51:29bilang isang tao na you don't use AI for
- 51:32cheating, for plagarism or spreading
- 51:34misinformation
- 51:36and maging accountable ka. Remember that
- 51:38we as humans not AI are responsible for
- 51:41choices enough. Napakadaling sabihin
- 51:43yan.
- 51:44Pero at the end of the day,
- 51:48kahit na maging ethical user ka,
- 51:50napakaraming gumagamit ng AI. We hope
- 51:53that they are also ethical users. We
- 51:56hope na i-limit nila yung pagtatanong
- 51:59nila, pagbibigay nila ng prompt ever na
- 52:02magpapagawa sila ng image or video. But
- 52:04then again,
- 52:07ilan lang ang mga ethical users?
- 52:12How can we really be responsible as ano?
- 52:16Sa Pilipinas may tinataguy na AI
- 52:18Governance Act sa House of
- 52:20Representatives through Acbayan Party
- 52:22list through Attorney Shell Joko.
- 52:25Pero dapat mapag-usapan ng maayos. Paano
- 52:28nga ba ang gagawin sa AI dito sa
- 52:30Pilipinas?
- 52:33Hindi ba?
- 52:35So ayun.
- 52:36So let's just I think watch this video.
- 52:39Okay? And
- 52:42maya tingnan natin kung
- 52:46pwede niyong isagot din ito. I-share
- 52:48niyo as part of your attendance for this
- 52:50week kung ano yung mga natutunan niyo
- 52:52dito sa video na ito. Let me just turn
- 52:56on the sound. Ayan. Turn turn turn it on
- 53:00already. Sana maririnig niyo to.
- 53:57Hey mom. Hey dad. It's me Ella.
- 54:02Well, a digital version of me just a bit
- 54:05older. Amazing what technology can do
- 54:08these days, isn't it? All you need a
- 54:11couple of pictures like the ones you on
- 54:13social media where they can be taken and
- 54:17used
- 54:18by everybody.
- 54:22I know for you these pictures are just
- 54:26memories but for others they are data.
- 54:29And for me the beginning of horrible
- 54:33future future where
- 54:37I can go for things would never do
- 54:41my creditore
- 54:45my copied to you
- 54:51don't want to become
- 54:57you loser.
- 55:04And I certainly don't want
- 55:09this.
- 55:15What you share online
- 55:17is like a digital
- 55:19that will follow me around for the rest
- 55:21of my life.
- 55:24I'm telling you this because I know you
- 55:25love me and would never do anything to
- 55:28harm me
- 55:30so please
- 55:32dad
- 55:33protect my virtual privacy.
- 55:49Right. Sana narinig niyo yun. Kung
- 55:51hindi, ipapadala ko sa sa
- 55:54ating GC ang video. But yeah,
- 56:01if narinig niyo man ba nakita niyo na
- 56:05bata pa yung anak nila but as parents,
- 56:08as proud parents, definitely they will
- 56:10post things or updates about their
- 56:14child, about Ella.
- 56:16But then in just one photo,
- 56:20using just one photo,
- 56:23a person can create an older version of
- 56:27of Ella. Nakita natin yung babae.
- 56:31At because of those photos, because of
- 56:33those videos na ina-upload online, pwede
- 56:35ring mamimik yung voice, pwedeng
- 56:38ma-stall yung identity niya, ma-steal
- 56:40yung identity niya. Marami pang bagay.
- 56:43And even yung sa last part 'di ba? It
- 56:46can also be used by feedophiles
- 56:51by ah those people na
- 56:55mga sex addictes they can generate a
- 56:57picture na naked.
- 57:00So it's really saddening. It's really
- 57:01saddening, you know, uh how we use
- 57:05technology not for the improvement
- 57:09of our society pero ano para mas maging
- 57:13malala pa yung nangyayari sa lipunan
- 57:15natin.
- 57:17So with that, kung na kung narinig niyo
- 57:19man yun o kung hindi man, kung panoorin
- 57:22natin yung ise-send kong link, the video
- 57:24of Ella shows how sharing personal
- 57:27photos online can lead to longterm uh
- 57:29consequences beyond our control. Once
- 57:32data is uploaded, once picture is
- 57:34uploaded, it is easily
- 57:38converted to data.
- 57:41We often lose ownership and cannot
- 57:43predict how it will be used.
- 57:46So you can also answer you can also
- 57:47share your thoughts by answering this.
- 57:50Why do you think people still share so
- 57:52much personal information despite this
- 57:55risks? And what responsibilities do
- 57:59individuals, families and society have
- 58:02to protect data privacy?
- 58:06Because it's really concerning now na sa
- 58:08sobrang daming information, sa sobrang
- 58:10daming content, sa sobrang daming images
- 58:12sa social media, napakadali naman
- 58:15talagang ma-steal ng identity mo kung
- 58:17kung may mga masasamang tao. tao that
- 58:20will do so. But mind you, marami na ring
- 58:25ganyan. Marami ng nagsi-steal ng
- 58:27identity, gumagawa ng AA generated na
- 58:31photos or minsan nga videos and sounds
- 58:33pa nakatunog mo kamukha mo.
- 58:38Kasi kahit tayo nag-e-engage tayo sa
- 58:40ganyang mga bagay, hindi ba? Mga
- 58:42nauusong trend na sa Facebook, bubuksan
- 58:46mo lang yung link tapos makikita mo na
- 58:48anong itsura mo kapag buntis ka o kapag
- 58:49tumanda ka or anong itsura ng anak mo
- 58:53yun talamak ang
- 58:56ano doon
- 58:58ang
- 59:01mga pwedeng gumawa ng masama sa data mo.
- 59:08To end this, the future will not belong
- 59:10to those who simply use artificial
- 59:11intelligence.
- 59:13The future will belong to those who
- 59:17cultivate authentic intelligence. Yes,
- 59:19we we use AI but you still cultivate
- 59:22your own mind, your own intelligence,
- 59:25your authentic intelligence.
- 59:28And as future professionals,
- 59:30as citizens of this country,
- 59:33one global citizen, as a global citizen,
- 59:38may we use technology not only to make
- 59:40the world smarter but also make the
- 59:43world more humane, just and sustainable.
- 59:47not only for our generation but for the
- 59:51future generations to come.
- 59:54And with that, that's it for our
- 59:58lecture for today. Thank you so much for
- 1:00:00watching and I hope you have learned
- 1:00:02something. Please don't forget to answer
- 1:00:05any of the discussion proms that I have
- 1:00:07raised. No yung una yung about sa
- 1:00:10misinformation disinformation deep
- 1:00:12fixes. Ikalawa yong sa social media ng
- 1:00:15prompt about fake news hindi ba? And
- 1:00:19yung ikatlo about video ni Ella. So you
- 1:00:21can try to answer any of those questions
- 1:00:24as part of your attendance and please
- 1:00:27share your thoughts dito sa comment
- 1:00:29section sa YouTube.
- 1:00:31Two to three sentences may do. Maraming
- 1:00:34salamat foring باe inارin
