6. 0:16you Marvel at the unbelievable things
7. 0:18that have happened to people and this is
8. 0:22one of them
9. 0:24in 2013 Harrison or King was working as
10. 0:28a cook on a tugboat of the Nigerian
11. 0:31Coast
12. 0:33the boat was stabilizing an oil tanker
13. 0:36and had a crew of 12 people on board
14. 0:40and oceans well came out of nowhere and
15. 0:43slammed into the smaller boat
16. 0:45immediately capsizing it and sending it
17. 0:49sinking into the ocean depths
18. 0:52with the boat when the entire crew sadly
19. 0:56locked in their rooms as they sunk
20. 0:59towards a show that
21. 1:01a lucky coincidence may have saved his
22. 1:04life
23. 1:06the rooms of the boat were locked as a
24. 1:09security practice as pirates often
25. 1:12robbed the boats in that region
26. 1:15they locked the doors to keep the
27. 1:18contents and the passengers safe
28. 1:22this worked to everyone's detriment as
29. 1:25the entire crew were asleep in their
30. 1:28Chambers
31. 1:30except Harrison or King
32. 1:33it was this exact moment that he'd found
33. 1:36himself on the toilet and was literally
34. 1:40sitting there when the boat got hit by
35. 1:42the wave
36. 1:44he'd gotten up early and was getting
37. 1:47ready to start cooking breakfast for the
38. 1:50crew
39. 1:51the joking ship tossed him from the
40. 1:54bathroom and bounced him around the ship
41. 1:57as they both aggressively sank down
42. 2:00when the vessel finally settled at the
43. 2:03bottom of the ocean Harrison was lucky
44. 2:06enough to stumble into an air pocket
45. 2:10he managed to find two mattresses to
46. 2:13stack on top of each other and stayed
47. 2:16above the rising water in his tiny
48. 2:19little chamber
49. 2:21he spent the next 60 hours floating in
50. 2:24an air pocket
51. 2:27it makes me nauseous just thinking about
52. 2:30it
53. 2:31if Harrison or kin was claustrophobic or
54. 2:35scared of deep water chances are he
55. 2:38would not have made it
56. 2:41it was because he stayed calm that he
57. 2:43was able to survive for 60 hours with no
58. 2:47food or water
59. 2:49and almost no air
60. 2:53the bubble of air that he found surely
61. 2:55saved his life but it would have not
62. 2:58lasted for much longer
63. 3:01given the small area he was in the
64. 3:04rising water and the elapsed time the
65. 3:08year he was breathing was becoming more
66. 3:10and more concentrated with carbon
67. 3:13dioxide
68. 3:15by the time they rescued him he was
69. 3:18almost out of time they have no idea how
70. 3:21the air pockets maintained itself for so
71. 3:24long
72. 3:26the diving crew that set out to collect
73. 3:28the bodies from the Shipwreck God to the
74. 3:31boat almost exactly 60 hours after the
75. 3:35vessel went down
76. 3:37imagine the guy who found him
77. 3:40he was swimming through the ship's
78. 3:43interior when a hand reached out and
79. 3:45touched him
80. 3:47gently saw us to not scare him
81. 3:51Harrison or kin was calm and cool
82. 3:55and just really freaking grateful that
83. 3:58they were there to rescue him
84. 4:01they had to be super careful with him as
85. 4:04he'd been in such deep water for so long
86. 4:08he'd absorbed potentially fatal amounts
87. 4:11of nitrogen and if they brought him
88. 4:14suddenly to the surface he could have
89. 4:17easily died
90. 4:19the crew equipped him with a special
91. 4:22suit and started his Ascent back into
92. 4:24life above water
93. 4:27he passed out on the way up but survived
94. 4:30to tell his story
95. 4:33he spent two days in a decompression
96. 4:36chamber and suffered various trauma
97. 4:39responses like nightmares and insatiable
98. 4:41hunger
99. 4:43but he made it
100. 4:46however it wasn't until they rescued him
101. 4:50and brought him to the surface that they
102. 4:52informed him of the bad news he was the
103. 4:55sole survivor
104. 4:57while he was under the water he thought
105. 5:01of his family his mother and his wife
106. 5:05he didn't have access to any of them but
107. 5:09what he did have access towards his fate
108. 5:13he prayed and prayed and God was
109. 5:16actually there to answer
110. 5:19after such an ordeal the trauma
111. 5:22naturally stayed around for a long time
112. 5:25Harrison suffered awful nightmares
113. 5:30he'd wake up in the middle of the night
114. 5:32feeling like his bed was sinking into
115. 5:35the water
116. 5:37even though he never wanted to go near
117. 5:40the ocean again Harrison or King
118. 5:42abandoned his fear and became a
119. 5:45certified commercial diver in 2015.
120. 5:50here's the beauty of it the rescue diver
121. 5:53who discovered him at the bottom of the
122. 5:56sea was the one to present him with his
123. 5:59diploma
