1. 0:00Mr. Speaker, this is a story about four
2. 0:02people. Everybody, somebody, anybody,
3. 0:06and nobody.
4. 0:09There was an important job to be done,
5. 0:12and everybody was asked to do it.
6. 0:14Everybody was sure somebody would do it.
7. 0:18And there was and and anybody could have
8. 0:20done it, but nobody did it.
9. 0:23>> Somebody got angry about that because it
10. 0:26was everybody's job. Everybody thought
11. 0:29anybody could do it and nobody realized
12. 0:32everybody wouldn't do it. In the end,
13. 0:35everybody blamed somebody when actually
14. 0:37nobody asked anybody.
15. 0:41The most important part of this anecdote
16. 0:43is not everybody, somebody, anybody, or
17. 0:46nobody. It is the job that was supposed
18. 0:49to be done. The job to build more
19. 0:52schools in our communities. The job
20. 0:59The job to build more hospitals in our
21. 1:01neighborhoods.
22. 1:06The job to build a province where
23. 1:08everyone feels welcomed.
24. 1:12And instead of getting the job done,
25. 1:14this government is wasting the time of
26. 1:16the legislature debating about
27. 1:18citizenship markers on driver's
28. 1:20licenses.
29. 1:23And instead of respecting teachers and
30. 1:25their rights, this government pushed
31. 1:27them back into the overcrowded,
32. 1:29underfunded, and complex classrooms.
33. 1:32Instead of building more hospitals and
34. 1:34strengthening our public health care,
35. 1:36this government is privatizing our
36. 1:38healthcare. Instead of making our
37. 1:40province more welcoming, diverse, and
38. 1:42inclusive, this government is attacking
39. 1:45diversity, equity, and inclusion.
40. 1:48>> And let me go a little bit further back,
41. 1:51Mr. Speaker. Bill C24, Nikab ban policy,
42. 1:54funding cuts to immigrant settlement
43. 1:56services, barbaric cultural practices,
44. 1:59refusal to collect racebased data,
45. 2:01shredding the anti-racism council. The
46. 2:03list continues about the anti-immigrant
47. 2:06narrative coming entirely from the
48. 2:08conservative governments.
