  31. 1:02business one small mistake also that led
  32. 1:04to a hefty fine and how he used
  33. 1:07marketing to make things work in his
  34. 1:09business and how you guys can start your
  35. 1:11own cleaning business and not make the
  36. 1:12same mistakes
  37. 1:14what are you doing that's working on

  40. 1:19400 to 500
  41. 1:20i think it's the best time to start a
  42. 1:22cleaning business
  43. 1:23not everyone is doing that it's
  44. 1:25definitely something that every every

  53. 1:40chris about their incredible
  54. 1:42growth story in this business
  55. 1:45hey chris
  56. 1:46hey i'm paul good to meet you good to
  57. 1:48meet you how you doing good let's dive
  58. 1:50into it all right sounds good
  59. 1:52[Music]
  60. 1:55all right you guys we're not going to
  61. 1:56slow chris down he's got a busy day
  62. 1:58ahead of him so we're going to ask
  63. 1:59questions and work at the same time uh
  64. 2:02chris let's dive into your story about
  65. 2:03queen bee cleaning services and how you
  66. 2:05ended up starting it yeah can we can
  67. 2:07work and yeah
  68. 2:08so it's it's a pretty fun story you know
  69. 2:11i was selling cars all the time
  70. 2:13um you know making good money uh my wife
  71. 2:15was the one who started the idea he's
  72. 2:17like we should start a clean company i
  73. 2:19just didn't see myself doing it i said
  74. 2:21no but i'm glad that she convinced me
  75. 2:23because i decided to observe uh the
  76. 2:26website and just taking the calls myself
  77. 2:28and three months in you know she was
  78. 2:30making more money than i was at at that
  79. 2:33time i decided to quit my job and go
  80. 2:35full in is it a good time to start a
  81. 2:37cleaning business or not i think it's
  82. 2:38the best time to start a cleaning
  83. 2:40business um you know after pandemic it
  84. 2:42seems like everybody wants their home
  85. 2:43clean uh
  86. 2:44you know to give an idea on how much of
  87. 2:47the demand is or last year or our
  88. 2:51monthly revenue was 60 000 now we're
  89. 2:52like 120 a month so it's like double and
  90. 2:55sometimes we turn jobs away so you can
  91. 2:57start a job tomorrow and i promise you
  92. 3:00you will have your first customer within
  93. 3:01days i bet and we'll talk about the
  94. 3:03expenses the startup costs everything
  95. 3:05you guys need to know to be successful
  96. 3:07[Music]
  97. 3:10all right chris let's talk about uh your
  98. 3:13startup cost and break down the 5000 how
  99. 3:16you invested that for sure so the
  100. 3:19original investment investment was five
  101. 3:20thousand dollars so it was four thousand
  102. 3:22dollars for a honda court i remember
  103. 3:24it's a black court okay 2003 i remember
  104. 3:26it very well a professional vacuum was
  105. 3:28500 bucks
  106. 3:30about another 300 in uh supplies and the
  107. 3:33rest was just uh flyers and business
  108. 3:35cards and that's it so that's it the car
  109. 3:38costs the most yeah i think so yeah so
  110. 3:40if you don't have a car you don't get in
  111. 3:41this business what well a thousand bucks
  112. 3:44i well you know you can start using your
  113. 3:46your by the time you know i had a big
  114. 3:47truck it was not a good idea to use a
  115. 3:50big truck driving around you know the
  116. 3:51gas yeah so that's why i i decided to
  117. 3:54buy a small car but yeah you can you can
  118. 3:56start with a you know small thousand
  119. 3:57dollar car it doesn't matter i mean
  120. 3:58you're going to make money very soon and
  121. 4:00then you're going to upgrade your
  122. 4:01vehicles nice what i'm saying for those
  123. 4:03that do have a car right oh yeah they
  124. 4:05can start they don't need to yeah so
  125. 4:06they can start with a thousand dollars
  126. 4:08for sure
  127. 4:12let's talk about how your customers
  128. 4:14today find you what platforms are
  129. 4:16successful for you what are you guys
  130. 4:18spending and anything else you can share
  131. 4:19on that yeah for sure you know so we
  132. 4:21only use three channels for marketing
  133. 4:23okay so our main one is google ads
  134. 4:26specifically google local leads so very
  135. 4:28important for home services it's a new
  136. 4:30platform that google came up with and
  137. 4:32you get chairs by call but the cool
  138. 4:35thing about this platform is that these
  139. 4:37customers are ready to buy the second
  140. 4:39platform it will be facebook and the
  141. 4:42third one will be geld yeah okay so
  142. 4:44we're spending about four thousand
  143. 4:46dollars in google ads about seven seven
  144. 4:48hundred seven fifty in yelp and uh a
  145. 4:51thousand in facebook got it what's
  146. 4:53bringing in most is it google google
  147. 4:54that for sure yes well don't say much
  148. 4:56because we got that hack coming up oh
  149. 4:58yes for sure i'll have a hack for you
  150. 5:00guys you're gonna love it everybody who
  151. 5:02has a home service business this is the
  152. 5:04key to grow your your your business to
  153. 5:06the next level
  154. 5:11sounds like we're going to go to your
  155. 5:12storage that's right area yeah or
  156. 5:15whatever you would want to call it
  157. 5:16uh tell us a little bit more what we're
  158. 5:18going to see there
  159. 5:19how important it is maybe to get a
  160. 5:21storage unit yeah instead of having
  161. 5:22everything at home what can you share
  162. 5:24yeah yeah so we're actually gonna be
  163. 5:25dropping off all this uh dirty laundry
  164. 5:27over there okay uh we're gonna be
  165. 5:28picking up new laundry this is i'm gonna
  166. 5:30show you the setup i have for my airbnb
  167. 5:32customers uh what do i do what do we do
  168. 5:34for them
  169. 5:35and oh you know you know it it's going
  170. 5:37to be pretty exciting okay well let's go
  171. 5:39let's hop in our cars all right you guys
  172. 5:41i'm excited we've done a couple of these
  173. 5:43interviews with cleaning businesses it's
  174. 5:44always interesting to see how people do
  175. 5:46differently and what we can learn so
  176. 5:48let's hop in and go
  177. 5:56all right everybody this place is
  178. 5:58actually familiar we've done an
  179. 5:59interview here so check out that video
  180. 6:01as well
  181. 6:03hey chris give us a tour what's your
  182. 6:05side airbnb and everything else for sure
  183. 6:08let me show you
  184. 6:09[Applause]
  185. 6:11so this is storage we use this is um so
  186. 6:14this is the laundry cart you know we
  187. 6:15have a laundromat that is very close
  188. 6:17they come and get it they come and drop
  189. 6:19it off in bags and then i have one of my
  190. 6:22employees actually make those packages
  191. 6:24so all these packages what they have
  192. 6:26it's uh pre-made packages for the airbnb
  193. 6:29customers so yeah they have towels
  194. 6:32linens pillowcases
  195. 6:34uh du-bets everything um we have
  196. 6:37supplies for the kitchen so for example
  197. 6:39we have this washer the detergent
  198. 6:42this is what you use to then clean the
  199. 6:43dishwasher uh well
  200. 6:45essentially you do replenish the airbnb
  201. 6:48with all this so this is for the guests
  202. 6:50essentially so we provide like a white
  203. 6:52glove service for the host
  204. 6:55they don't need to do anything we take
  205. 6:56care of the cleaning the laundry and and
  206. 6:59then the supplies
  207. 7:04chris curious what sets queen bee apart
  208. 7:07from your competitors what do you do
  209. 7:08different
  210. 7:09more unique
  211. 7:10that sets you apart for sure so there's
  212. 7:13actually two things
  213. 7:14i will say the first thing it's having
  214. 7:16an exceptional customer service
  215. 7:19uh if you have a good customer service
  216. 7:21you will see the difference in within
  217. 7:23days so my customer service uh answers
  218. 7:25the phone from seven in the morning all
  219. 7:27the way to 11 pm seven days a week wow
  220. 7:29so yes uh there's people you know that
  221. 7:31get off from work late and when you know
  222. 7:34when they try to call a company who are
  223. 7:35they gonna call right the guys who's
  224. 7:37actually answering the phone so
  225. 7:38definitely that sets me apart seven days
  226. 7:40a week seven to eleven and the other one
  227. 7:42it's i have an online booking system so
  228. 7:44you can go to my website and if you
  229. 7:46don't want to talk to anyone you can
  230. 7:48just go enter your uh information so how
  231. 7:51big your home is it will throw you the
  232. 7:53price and you can look and there right
  233. 7:54there and then not everyone's doing that
  234. 7:56not everyone is doing that it's
  235. 7:58definitely something that every business
  236. 7:59should implement online booking
  237. 8:05what about your monthly overhead though
  238. 8:07now that you're at 22 to 25 employees
  239. 8:10what is the overhead monthly just to
  240. 8:12cover costs and what's the most
  241. 8:14expensive thing every month oh so our
  242. 8:16most expensive thing is the labor um it
  243. 8:19really is it comes down to you know we
  244. 8:21have to pay good wages otherwise we
  245. 8:23don't keep good people
  246. 8:25or expense on labor is about 60
  247. 8:2760 a month
  248. 8:29and then i will say supplies that's
  249. 8:31another 10 percent
  250. 8:33and marketing operations
  251. 8:36another you know 10 so you end up with
  252. 8:39uh ideally 20 on the lowest 15 net
  253. 8:42gotcha okay so your profit margins are
  254. 8:44in that 20 to 20
  255. 8:46okay
  256. 8:48[Music]
  257. 8:50for example if you want to run facebook
  258. 8:52ads if you send the people from facebook
  259. 8:55to your website most likely you they
  260. 8:56will not convert because you have too
  261. 8:58much information on your website i see
  262. 8:59what you want to do is get click funnels
  263. 9:02create a funnel which has only one
  264. 9:04action and it's just you can generate
  265. 9:06your quotes so what i do i just create a
  266. 9:08funnel people click on my ad goes to
  267. 9:10click funnels they enter information and
  268. 9:12within five minutes they get the quote
  269. 9:14that's awesome uh you guys click funnels
  270. 9:16actually happens to be our sponsor today
  271. 9:19and if you are a business and you want
  272. 9:21to grow your customer base 100 people
  273. 9:23maybe the next 100 days
  274. 9:25click funnels is the place to go it's
  275. 9:27not only for brick and mortar by the way
  276. 9:29they're giving away 96 hours of free
  277. 9:31brick and mortar training for you guys
  278. 9:33but even if you're not a brick and
  279. 9:34mortar business there's a ton of tools
  280. 9:36out there that will help build your
  281. 9:38business so check it out the details are
  282. 9:40gonna be in the description below so
  283. 9:41thank you for that
  284. 9:43[Music]
  285. 9:46you guys we're about to take you to the
  286. 9:48actual airbnb house that chris and his
  287. 9:50team are going to be cleaning
  288. 9:52so follow with us we're on to the next
  289. 9:53steps anything else you want to add no
  290. 9:55that's it just follow us
  291. 9:57[Applause]
  292. 10:02okay you guys we're here at this
  293. 10:04gorgeous
  294. 10:05building that is currently an airbnb
  295. 10:07house
  296. 10:08your cruise here chris why don't you
  297. 10:09take us inside and kind of explain what
  298. 10:11they're doing and anything else you want
  299. 10:13to share with us absolutely this and
  300. 10:14going over come on so how many people
  301. 10:16usually for this size of a house would
  302. 10:18be working here
  303. 10:19within about three people per unit
  304. 10:21because usually we deal with big units
  305. 10:23like this you know like three four
  306. 10:25bedroom with two three bathrooms so we
  307. 10:27usually spend about
  308. 10:29three to four hours in each home because
  309. 10:31we literally had to deep clean it top to
  310. 10:34bottom uh to make it uh guest ready
  311. 10:36again so we changed the laundry supplies
  312. 10:38you know all the supplies for the for
  313. 10:40the bathrooms and also the kitchen
  314. 10:42supplies so we take time to do it
  315. 10:45because we want the customers to get
  316. 10:47five star reviews so what would a
  317. 10:49customer pay for this kind of job a job
  318. 10:51like this will we will run about 400 to
  319. 10:54500 per turnover but that's included
  320. 10:56everything that's laundry
  321. 10:58supplies and cleaning and what would you
  322. 11:01then i guess profit or net profit after
  323. 11:04everything
  324. 11:05um you end up with about twenty percent
  325. 11:07uh of that so we
  326. 11:09eighty dollars per job and we do about
  327. 11:11uh 18 jobs of this yeah
  328. 11:15[Music]
  329. 11:18chris can you share any top resources
  330. 11:21for small business owners out there that
  331. 11:22really helped you as well yeah for sure
  332. 11:24you know i i wish i would have learned
  333. 11:26about this website it's called score.org
  334. 11:29it's a hub where you can find anything
  335. 11:31from how to create your business plan
  336. 11:32how to create your marketing plan nice
  337. 11:34and how to run your uh your number so
  338. 11:36definitely it's free
  339. 11:38most of the content is free and it's a
  340. 11:41great resource that i still use to learn
  341. 11:43more about my business okay that's
  342. 11:44awesome you guys should check that out
  343. 11:45but most importantly as well check out
  344. 11:47upflip.com forward slash blog is very
  345. 11:50similar to what he's talking about it's
  346. 11:52all free there for you guys how to write
  347. 11:53a business plan how to operate this this
  348. 11:55that
  349. 11:56we're there to make you successful
  350. 11:58[Music]
  351. 12:02let's discuss the services you offer i'm
  352. 12:05really curious and about how you come up
  353. 12:08with the different packages what are
  354. 12:10most profitable or more popular than
  355. 12:12others yeah
  356. 12:13can you break that down for us yeah for
  357. 12:15sure so we offer three different types
  358. 12:16of service which is home service that's
  359. 12:19for you know homeowners we do move outs
  360. 12:22and move-ins and we do airbnb cleanings
  361. 12:24you know our bread and butter will be
  362. 12:26the recurring revenue so meaning uh the
  363. 12:29people who pays to clean their home
  364. 12:31every two weeks or three or four weeks
  365. 12:33that's uh you know where the money is
  366. 12:35because essentially you start doing
  367. 12:38those jobs in a lesser time so you start
  368. 12:40optimizing the time so you make more
  369. 12:41money uh mobas they're profitable but
  370. 12:44sometimes they're trash and it takes
  371. 12:46longer than it should so you kind of
  372. 12:48have to balance that
  373. 12:49and uh airbnb airbnb is a really good
  374. 12:52business when you know how to do it
  375. 12:53right
  376. 12:54[Music]
  377. 12:58so for those watching right now who want
  378. 13:00to get into this cleaning business
  379. 13:02what would be two three pieces of advice
  380. 13:04to to them well the first thing it's uh
  381. 13:07definitely start investing in paid ads
  382. 13:09even though we grow fast i think i
  383. 13:12spent maybe a year and a half almost two
  384. 13:14years doing free ads you know meaning
  385. 13:17craigslist ads flyers posting on
  386. 13:19facebook groups it works it really works
  387. 13:21but if you really really want to grow
  388. 13:23your business to the next level you need
  389. 13:25to start looking into paid advertising
  390. 13:27google came up with this new platform
  391. 13:29which i mentioned earlier google local
  392. 13:31leads that is specifically for home
  393. 13:33service business they charge you per
  394. 13:35call uh if they don't buy the service
  395. 13:37you can challenge the lead i tried it
  396. 13:40for like a month i said let's just let's
  397. 13:42try it again
  398. 13:43uh i was blown away you know i remember
  399. 13:46that was on august of 2018
  400. 13:50by september i was now strongly finding
  401. 13:53people because now i had found like the
  402. 13:55best source of business
  403. 13:57uh so
  404. 13:58now i had a problem of finding employees
  405. 14:00which is a good problem to have
  406. 14:06how seasonal is it are you consistent
  407. 14:08throughout the year and if you do have
  408. 14:10slow seasons chris what do you do to
  409. 14:12shift during that slow period to still
  410. 14:14continue to be profitable and make it
  411. 14:16yeah so we do have a slow season which
  412. 14:18is uh you know the the winter time the
  413. 14:20winter months
  414. 14:22okay yeah december january february
  415. 14:24usually slow so what i do to help you
  416. 14:26know during those times i use a lot of
  417. 14:29text marketing uh it's been three years
  418. 14:31since i discovered instead of using
  419. 14:33email marketing
  420. 14:34text marketing people response to text
  421. 14:36so what i do i offer you know crazy
  422. 14:39deals so you know get fifty dollars off
  423. 14:40today
  424. 14:41you know and i send that text to you
  425. 14:43know uh 1500 people at least 10 percent
  426. 14:47will reply to you okay yes okay i want
  427. 14:49to i want to save it so what i'm trying
  428. 14:51to do during those times is just keep my
  429. 14:53employees busy so they make money and
  430. 14:55you know i take a little bit of a hit on
  431. 14:58discount my prices but at the same time
  432. 15:00i'm taking care of my employees so when
  433. 15:01the good season comes around you know
  434. 15:03they're already there for me
  435. 15:05[Music]
  436. 15:09what are you doing that's working on
  437. 15:10craigslist so specifically technical
  438. 15:13stuff uh well i i disclose my prices
  439. 15:16right there on the on the price uh on
  440. 15:18the on the ad that's different from
  441. 15:20others yes everybody if you go to
  442. 15:22craigslist you can see other people say
  443. 15:24hey we clean houses we do this we do
  444. 15:26that um if you want to see my ass it
  445. 15:28will say the prices are this and it
  446. 15:31starts from this what that does it
  447. 15:33filters everyone who's not uh you know
  448. 15:36ready to pay for my prices and whoever
  449. 15:38calls they really saw the prices still
  450. 15:39the most likely to buy from me nice
  451. 15:41that's a good trip you guys yeah
  452. 15:46but what platform are you using and how
  453. 15:48are you getting that list of 1500 people
  454. 15:50well it's very important this is another
  455. 15:52tip guys uh that it's it's it's
  456. 15:53phenomenal um and many people don't do
  457. 15:56that it's you have to have a crm meaning
  458. 16:00a customer relationship manager software
  459. 16:02yeah where you keep all your customers
  460. 16:05and all your leads that have contacted
  461. 16:07you throughout the year doesn't matter
  462. 16:09if they didn't become your customers you
  463. 16:10still keep their information because
  464. 16:13when you have these slow months use this
  465. 16:15when you do the text marketing uh or
  466. 16:17email marketing in any case right but
  467. 16:19text marketing is the way to go guys at
  468. 16:21ninety percent open rate that's what
  469. 16:23i've seen on my ninety percent so it's
  470. 16:25pretty good what platform are you using
  471. 16:26for crm and then is it different for
  472. 16:28text to send out that text or is it all
  473. 16:30through the crm all through the crm so i
  474. 16:32use a software it's called go high level
  475. 16:34pretty simple uh platform
  476. 16:36all i do is download the list of
  477. 16:38customers and i i segment and for
  478. 16:41example i have the existing customers
  479. 16:43who don't need my services because i
  480. 16:44mean they they already
  481. 16:47use my services right
  482. 16:48um i segment the ones that canceled or
  483. 16:51the ones who contacted me or or or there
  484. 16:55was just leads and then i send a text
  485. 16:57blast to all those and i promise you
  486. 16:59guys if you work your database it's a
  487. 17:01goldmine there you know there's a lot of
  488. 17:03people who don't know that but if you
  489. 17:05shake the tree like i like to say you
  490. 17:06shake that tree
  491. 17:08you will get some fruit every time
  492. 17:10[Music]
  493. 17:14how do you come up with how much to
  494. 17:15charge i mean you talked about knowing
  495. 17:17your numbers earlier on yeah what are
  496. 17:20the tips and tricks and really figuring
  497. 17:21out the sweet spot yeah definitely so
  498. 17:25this is what i did and i think everybody
  499. 17:26should do that i mean i didn't know
  500. 17:27anything about charging i
  501. 17:30actually i remember the very first job
  502. 17:31it was a move out my wife hated me for
  503. 17:33it i think we charged 90 dollars and uh
  504. 17:36she literally spent like 12 hours with
  505. 17:38another lady and uh and so after i was
  506. 17:40like okay i need to i need to find out
  507. 17:42what is the market paying so what i did
  508. 17:44i call companies in my area and i said
  509. 17:47hey how much would you charge me for a
  510. 17:48three bedroom two bathroom okay and i
  511. 17:50got some quotes then from there i kind
  512. 17:52of said okay well like i'm not at that
  513. 17:54level yet because i don't have that uh
  514. 17:56reputation but now i know i'm really on
  515. 17:58underbidding and i should charge more so
  516. 18:01i will say you know call a few uh
  517. 18:04companies in your area and uh you know
  518. 18:06you get those different quotes that way
  519. 18:08you see how much uh are charging and
  520. 18:10that will give you a good number okay
  521. 18:16we've interviewed other companies as
  522. 18:17well uh previews are very important they
  523. 18:20are right
  524. 18:21there how do you get them and how do you
  525. 18:23deal with negative ones talk to us about
  526. 18:25the process first of all getting ready
  527. 18:28well you know this is this is something
  528. 18:30he i started doing it last two years
  529. 18:32when i you know i hired more people all
  530. 18:35to help me on the administration side of
  531. 18:36it so what we do you know we call the
  532. 18:39customer uh the following day used to
  533. 18:41make sure that he was uh happy with the
  534. 18:43service to do any any any problems and
  535. 18:46then at that point we kindly asked in a
  536. 18:49subtle way if we can give you some
  537. 18:51feedback uh whether it's good or bad you
  538. 18:53know it helps us to improve our company
  539. 18:56um how do you deal with bad reviews uh
  540. 18:58very very very good question you know
  541. 19:00some sometimes there's people you cannot
  542. 19:02make happy no matter what you do you can
  543. 19:04bend over backwards and at that point
  544. 19:06the best thing you can do is just
  545. 19:07respond professionally and ask him if
  546. 19:09there's something else you can do for
  547. 19:10them so you respond to each kind each
  548. 19:12comment online it's very important you
  549. 19:14know people see that it's being one of
  550. 19:16my keys to being a such a fast growth
  551. 19:19because we have a good reputation online
  552. 19:22and we try to protect it now you guys we
  553. 19:24ask if you guys want us to ask way more
  554. 19:26specific questions we do that on our
  555. 19:28podcast we interview great people like
  556. 19:30chris other business owners we give you
  557. 19:32the golden nuggets about anything and
  558. 19:34everything you need for your business
  559. 19:36and to be successful so check it out
  560. 19:38upflip.com forward slash podcast
  561. 19:42[Music]
  562. 19:45how is airbnb cleaning different from
  563. 19:47household commercial offices et cetera
  564. 19:49for sure so
  565. 19:50we used to charge very little for it and
  566. 19:52get a lot of pressure from it and
  567. 19:54essentially we try to not take those
  568. 19:57customers but i figured what can i do
  569. 20:01to solve their problem and at the same
  570. 20:03time position myself at the guy to go to
  571. 20:06so i started actually asking those
  572. 20:07customers what is something that you
  573. 20:09need
  574. 20:10so to make your life easier and they're
  575. 20:11like oh if i can get someone to inspect
  576. 20:13my unit so i want to do the laundry so i
  577. 20:16want to do the supply i crunch my
  578. 20:18numbers and then instead of offering
  579. 20:20just cleaning i offer to them which is
  580. 20:23like a co-hosting so most of my
  581. 20:25customers they live in either china
  582. 20:27europe i got a lot of people you know on
  583. 20:29the east coast
  584. 20:30and so we literally saw hands off a
  585. 20:33system for them you know we take care of
  586. 20:35everything uh from welcoming the the
  587. 20:37host you know doing the laundry supplies
  588. 20:40and any problems in between states what
  589. 20:42would be the average cost i mean let's
  590. 20:43say i have a that 1 000 square foot two
  591. 20:46bedroom two villa on the ocean or
  592. 20:48something like how do you how do you
  593. 20:50figure out the price where are the
  594. 20:51margins on airbnb cleaning versus house
  595. 20:53cleaning that's that's a good question
  596. 20:54so
  597. 20:55um if you offer everything like i said
  598. 20:57no just clean if you offer only cleaning
  599. 20:59the margins are very small so when you
  600. 21:02make the most money is when you charge a
  601. 21:04percentage of the management fee so for
  602. 21:06example we charge in between 10 to 20
  603. 21:09percent
  604. 21:10of the gross of the unit who do that
  605. 21:12generates i see it and then we take care
  606. 21:14of everything
  607. 21:16[Music]
  608. 21:19today where how many employees do you
  609. 21:21have what do you pay them and how do you
  610. 21:23retain them to stay with you and yes yes
  611. 21:25good question so as of now we have 22
  612. 21:27cleaners they all range from 19 per hour
  613. 21:30you know the the people who doesn't
  614. 21:31drive okay the drivers get 20 to 22. if
  615. 21:34they drive my car it's 20 dollars if
  616. 21:36they drive their car it's 24. so
  617. 21:38you know it really works out well
  618. 21:40sometimes they want to use their car and
  619. 21:41they make a little bit extra money
  620. 21:42that's that's fine for me so do you
  621. 21:44offer like any incentives any creative
  622. 21:47ways of yes this is something very
  623. 21:49important you know last few years i
  624. 21:51didn't have what it was called i was not
  625. 21:53paying attention and creating a company
  626. 21:55culture
  627. 21:56now you know it's very important to keep
  628. 21:58your employees uh you know uh feel
  629. 22:00appreciated so what i've been doing you
  630. 22:02know since pre-kobit you know taking him
  631. 22:04to picnics you know carne asadas of
  632. 22:07course every saturday uh
  633. 22:09you know we took him to a bowling game
  634. 22:12every three months or so
  635. 22:13and you know we celebrate their
  636. 22:15birthdays every time you have a software
  637. 22:16that tells me okay this cleaner's
  638. 22:18birthday's tomorrow we get them a cake
  639. 22:20we celebrate real quick in the morning
  640. 22:22and we all got to go and that my friends
  641. 22:24is being the key for me to keep the
  642. 22:25employees longer
  643. 22:27[Music]
  644. 22:30all right let's dive into blitz
  645. 22:31questions if you could go back to the
  646. 22:33pre-pandemic world what's one thing you
  647. 22:35would do in advance uh hire more people
  648. 22:37what is one fact that changed your
  649. 22:39perspective on life forever oh god
  650. 22:41that's a good question uh let's keep
  651. 22:43that one okay what is your favorite
  652. 22:45business book the the next rule 10x rule
  653. 22:48okay now at this stage of success what
  654. 22:50advice would you give to your teenage
  655. 22:52self
  656. 22:53i will definitely
  657. 22:54never stop learning look for mentors
  658. 22:56definitely look for mentors and look for
  659. 22:58mentors they already went through it
  660. 23:00yeah they can teach you everything okay
  661. 23:02what's one thing you can't start your
  662. 23:03mornings without except coffee
  663. 23:05meditation meditation okay now this is
  664. 23:07our fan questions thank you guys for
  665. 23:09submitting these questions this is from
  666. 23:10ah this is good uh he or she's asking
  667. 23:13what's the next target goal uh we're
  668. 23:15next year we'll be looking at uh trying
  669. 23:17to get a one 1.75 million in sales total
  670. 23:20sales just one year yes wow definitely
  671. 23:23the same same user oh this is good what
  672. 23:25are the top three lessons learned after
  673. 23:26the first full year in business learn
  674. 23:29your numbers learn how to delegate and
  675. 23:32start investing in and marketing this is
  676. 23:34from atres
  677. 23:35if you had to start a new business in a
  678. 23:37different field what would it be and why
  679. 23:39uh we'll say carpet cleaning it's
  680. 23:41there's a huge demand from him actually
  681. 23:43we're in uh implemented that business
  682. 23:44next year okay
  683. 23:46awesome this is from milay marine i
  684. 23:48think if i'm reading it right uh
  685. 23:50favorite non-business book uh think and
  686. 23:52grow reach think and grow rich okay uh
  687. 23:54and this is from area a how did the
  688. 23:56pandemic affect your business uh well it
  689. 23:59did at first uh you know we we really
  690. 24:01almost lost more than half of our uh
  691. 24:03customers between the may the month of
  692. 24:06march to uh june okay but then after
  693. 24:08that it really changed everything once
  694. 24:10they're home clean they disinfected so
  695. 24:12it's it affected us at first but now
  696. 24:14it's actually uh you know
  697. 24:16such a good search in in business okay
  698. 24:19[Music]
  699. 24:24all right chris curious about the most
  700. 24:27single important skill or experience
  701. 24:29that you need or should have or can have
  702. 24:31that'll help you in this business what
  703. 24:33can you tell us something for sure you
  704. 24:34know this is a very common problem i've
  705. 24:36seen with other business owners and it's
  706. 24:38very important it's knowing your numbers
  707. 24:41no no no in your numbers you know when i
  708. 24:43uh started i just knew that the company
  709. 24:46was making money i was working with
  710. 24:47subcontractors and you know i got a
  711. 24:50letter from the labor in industries
  712. 24:52department
  713. 24:53and they find me with twelve thousand
  714. 24:55dollars for miss classifying the
  715. 24:56cleaners wow so essentially i guess
  716. 24:58there's a way that you can hire
  717. 25:00subcontractors but it's very edgy
  718. 25:03so they're always kind of watching you
  719. 25:04you know for making a mistake and then
  720. 25:06you end up with big fines so if i would
  721. 25:07have known that you know knowing the
  722. 25:09rules and regulations and then on top of
  723. 25:12that knowing my numbers i wouldn't
  724. 25:13probably got in that situation you know
  725. 25:15an advice i will give to everyone
  726. 25:17definitely if you don't have money for a
  727. 25:18cpa when you're starting well at least
  728. 25:21get an accountant on a bookkeeper you
  729. 25:23know and then have them teach you
  730. 25:25everything you need to know what taxes
  731. 25:26you need to pay what dates are they do
  732. 25:29and if you take care of that at the
  733. 25:31beginning you will say so much trouble
  734. 25:33in the end um you know i didn't pay
  735. 25:35attention to that at the beginning and
  736. 25:37then end up biting me in the butt uh you
  737. 25:39know
  738. 25:40at the end of the first year that's
  739. 25:42great advice yeah
  740. 25:44[Music]
  741. 25:48what's your preference like you as a
  742. 25:49business owner what do you want to see
  743. 25:50more of coming into the business what
  744. 25:52type of service and why yeah definitely
  745. 25:54well you know it's it's
  746. 25:56been interesting i think i mentioned
  747. 25:58earlier uh at first the airbnb customers
  748. 26:00were hard to deal with i didn't really
  749. 26:02want to be part of it but now that i got
  750. 26:05the hang of it i think i have a system
  751. 26:07that works for for us uh i will i would
  752. 26:10rather stay on the airbnb side of
  753. 26:12business you know it's pretty they're
  754. 26:14pretty uh
  755. 26:15popular nowadays i see more and more
  756. 26:17coming up every day and if i want to
  757. 26:21focus on one i will be on the airbnb
  758. 26:22side are the profits obviously a little
  759. 26:24bit higher yes they're a little higher
  760. 26:26than the than the other ones and for the
  761. 26:28most part you know uh if you do a good
  762. 26:30job they get good reviews then you get
  763. 26:32even bonus and whatnot so it works out
  764. 26:35very well
  765. 26:39in terms of running a business from home
  766. 26:41chris what are the pros and cons because
  767. 26:43you've been kind of utilizing the house
  768. 26:45for the last five years have you thought
  769. 26:46about commercial space versus where
  770. 26:48you're at now i have yes um you know
  771. 26:51it's it's funny that you ask
  772. 26:53when we started the operation uh you
  773. 26:55know i i really didn't think it was
  774. 26:56going to grow to uh you know to this
  775. 26:59size so i wanted to keep everything in
  776. 27:00house keep the the overhead uh you know
  777. 27:03low now we're you know making a million
  778. 27:05dollars in sales a year but uh
  779. 27:07essentially we
  780. 27:09we now we're in a station we need to
  781. 27:11look for a commercial uh property so
  782. 27:13you're looking for one yes now the thing
  783. 27:15is that i kind of want to wait a little
  784. 27:17bit because you know there's a lot of
  785. 27:19retail spaces empty right now
  786. 27:21um i kind of want to want for wait for
  787. 27:23the right opportunity uh you know the
  788. 27:26right cost so we can essentially move
  789. 27:28all of our operations to to that area so
  790. 27:30what would be the the pro i guess of
  791. 27:32transitioning into one space for you as
  792. 27:34a business owner one of the things i
  793. 27:36guess is the most important is to
  794. 27:37separate the business from the home and
  795. 27:39it it works up until a certain point but
  796. 27:42now you know in the mornings it gets
  797. 27:43hectic you know have 25 people in the
  798. 27:44morning you know just talking and you
  799. 27:47know you don't want to you know uh you
  800. 27:49know bug your neighbors so i think it's
  801. 27:50a good idea just to go to a place and
  802. 27:52just have everything ready you know you
  803. 27:54know from there you know all the
  804. 27:55operations
  805. 27:56[Music]
  806. 28:00curious about what your day looks like
  807. 28:02yeah
  808. 28:03at this point and how is it different
  809. 28:04from before i mean how many hours of
  810. 28:05work yeah do you put in a week so i
  811. 28:08would say i work about even between four
  812. 28:10and six hours a day yeah so it's not bad
  813. 28:12you know sometimes i i i really don't
  814. 28:15have to go uh out uh today is one of
  815. 28:17those days because it's the end of the
  816. 28:19month usually by the end of the month a
  817. 28:21lot of people move out so
  818. 28:23usually they get busy towards the next
  819. 28:26the towards the end of the month
  820. 28:28and but the first two weeks i literally
  821. 28:32work three hours four hours a day yeah
  822. 28:34it's pretty good it's pretty good
  823. 28:35balanced life work um i think uh right
  824. 28:38now
  825. 28:39uh
  826. 28:41you know i i have found a balance
  827. 28:43between my work and my family so i'm
  828. 28:45very i'm grateful that's awesome yeah
  829. 28:51so chris since your income on the airbnb
  830. 28:54side of things is dependent on the
  831. 28:55income of the landlord right how do you
  832. 28:58have that transparency and know what
  833. 28:59they're earning so that you can take
  834. 29:01your 10 to 20
  835. 29:02for sure so whenever i import someone i
  836. 29:05you know they have to tell me the unit
  837. 29:07and then i use a software they call air
  838. 29:09dna their dna so it tells you how much
  839. 29:12their you know the house are renting
  840. 29:13from in that area the nightly rates so
  841. 29:15that gives me a rough idea how i'm
  842. 29:17looking to make and then the number uh
  843. 29:19two thing is to have an agreement in
  844. 29:21place you have an agreement yeah without
  845. 29:22having agreement it's three months
  846. 29:24minimum you know if you don't like it
  847. 29:25you can you know
  848. 29:27stop our services but we really believe
  849. 29:29that uh if you stay with us for three
  850. 29:31months you'll see the results and then
  851. 29:32you see your income increase as well so
  852. 29:35if i want to pursue airbnb what would be
  853. 29:37the secret you would say if if any to be
  854. 29:40successful to be most profitable for
  855. 29:41sure i actually do have a really good
  856. 29:43secret but make sure to comment below
  857. 29:45because i'll be answering those secrets
  858. 29:47directly all right you guys heard it
  859. 29:49from chris comment below to get the
  860. 29:50answer
  861. 29:51[Music]
  862. 29:55so you guys this is the this is the tip
  863. 29:57hack that we talked earlier uh in the
  864. 29:58video definitely yes at first i was
  865. 30:00trying to do where many hats you know
  866. 30:03making the phone calls uh talking to
  867. 30:05customers charging customers uh
  868. 30:07responding to customers and it gets used
  869. 30:09also overwhelming it's too many things
  870. 30:11so what i end up doing is i i look for
  871. 30:14hiring people overseas so i can maximize
  872. 30:16my profits i was very lucky to hire a
  873. 30:19lady that uh
  874. 30:21her name is sheena she's from the
  875. 30:22philippines lovely she's very smart um
  876. 30:25you know i i hired as i'm a customer
  877. 30:27service representative and then within
  878. 30:29two months she learned the ropes super
  879. 30:32fast six months in after
  880. 30:34she's she's working for me uh the sales
  881. 30:37were like at 30
  882. 30:38increase wow and and then here's the
  883. 30:41thing though i you know i pay five
  884. 30:43dollars an hour and there's like super
  885. 30:45well competitive uh race for them um you
  886. 30:48know as of now i actually have five uh
  887. 30:50customer service representatives working
  888. 30:52from seven in the morning to 11 pm and
  889. 30:55really having a fantastic customer
  890. 30:57service responsive customer service uh
  891. 30:59be someone that's always responding to
  892. 31:01any
  893. 31:02web chat text it's key and they're
  894. 31:05answering from philippines that's right
  895. 31:07you know uh we use a
  896. 31:09system is called ring central very
  897. 31:11essential okay you know we bought some
  898. 31:12uh some extensions so each of the users
  899. 31:15have extension if a calls comes in and
  900. 31:17one of the person is already in a call
  901. 31:19it directs to the next person and so on
  902. 31:21so the tip trick is delegate delegate
  903. 31:23over
  904. 31:24season yes i think every business owner
  905. 31:26you're not just cleaning every business
  906. 31:29owner small business owner or big
  907. 31:30business owner can uh you know take
  908. 31:33advantage of the global economy you know
  909. 31:35there's people who are very well
  910. 31:36prepared that can do a good job most
  911. 31:39jobs can do be done you know online
  912. 31:41nowadays anyway
  913. 31:42so you know why no delegate one of your
  914. 31:45most important ones which is customer
  915. 31:46service and make it the beefiest
  916. 31:48customer service in your town you know
