  27. 1:16similarly every action in Pursuit is
  28. 1:18thought to aim at some good and for this

  41. 1:55the ancient Greeks call this concept of

  58. 2:40joining and winning in sports
  59. 2:42competitions
  60. 2:44furthermore according to aristotel
  61. 2:46happiness is the ultimate End Of Human
  62. 2:49Action it is that which people pursue
  63. 2:52for its own sake Financial stability for

  66. 3:00peace as a reward for taking care of the
  67. 3:02environment all this and more are
  68. 3:05pursued for the sake of happiness
  69. 3:07happiness defines a good life this
  70. 3:10happiness however is not the kind that
  71. 3:13comes from the sense8 pressures it is
  72. 3:16that which comes from living a life of
  73. 3:18virtue a life of Excellence manifested
  74. 3:22from the personal to the global scale
  75. 3:25for example making sure that one avoids
  76. 3:28sugary and processed foods to keep
  77. 3:30healthy is an activity that expresses
  78. 3:32virtue the resulting Health adds to
  79. 3:35one's well-being and happiness another
  80. 3:38example is taking care of the
  81. 3:40environment through proper Waste
  82. 3:42Management which results in a clean
  83. 3:44environment and adds to people's
  84. 3:46well-being and happiness
  85. 3:48this Rich's actions require discipline
  86. 3:51and practice on the other hand
  87. 3:53activities contrary to Virtue are those
  88. 3:56which do not result in happiness the
  89. 3:59lack of discipline in eating healthful
  90. 4:01food eventually makes one sick the lack
  91. 4:04of concern for the environment destroys
  92. 4:07the Earth you live in
  93. 4:09thus disregard for virtuous actions
  94. 4:12especially for the sake of convenience
  95. 4:14and gratification does not contribute to
  96. 4:16happiness
  97. 4:18therefore the good life is marked by
  98. 4:21happiness brought about by virtuous
  99. 4:23human actions and decisions that affect
  100. 4:25the individual self and the Greater
  101. 4:27Community it is characterized by a life
  102. 4:30of flourishing of oneself and of others
  103. 4:33the good life doesn't happen in a bubble
  104. 4:36where only one person is flourishing
  105. 4:38others have to be in it too virtue plays
  106. 4:42a significant role in the living and
  107. 4:44attainment of the good life it is the
  108. 4:47constant practice of the good no matter
  109. 4:49how difficult the circumstances may be
  110. 4:52virtue is the Excellence of character
  111. 4:54that empowers one to do and be good such
  112. 4:58virtue is cultivated with habit and
  113. 5:00discipline as it is not a one-time deed
  114. 5:03but a constant and consistent series of
  115. 5:06actions everyone has a capacity within
  116. 5:09himself or herself to be good but he or
  117. 5:12she also has to be disciplined to make a
  118. 5:15habit of exercising the good
  119. 5:18virtue then being of two kinds are of
  120. 5:22intellectual and moral virtue
  121. 5:25intellectual virtually in the main owes
  122. 5:27its birth and growth to teaching for
  123. 5:29which reason it requires experience and
  124. 5:32time while moral virtue comes about as a
  125. 5:35result of habit
  126. 5:36the onward progress of science and
  127. 5:39technology is also the movement towards
  128. 5:41a good life science and technology are
  129. 5:44one of the highest expressions of human
  130. 5:46faculties they allow us to strive and
  131. 5:49flourish in life if we so desire it
  132. 5:52Science and Technology may also corrupt
  133. 5:54a person but drowning oneself in virtue
  134. 5:57will help him or her steer clear of
  135. 6:00danger
  136. 6:01as you come to the end of this
  137. 6:03presentation let us take time to ponder
