- 0:01[kid 1] Let's stir up some tiny trouble!
- 0:02If you were itty bitty, would you rather...
- 0:04...change bodies as you grow up?
- 0:06Or be able to crawl on walls and ceilings?
- 0:10[kid 2] That's giving teeny chaos energy.
- 0:12How do we decide?
- 0:13[kid 1] No bugging out!
- 0:14Let's crawl, buzz, and flutter in.
- 0:18It's time to figure out who's got the small-but-mighty...
- 0:20...bug whoa factor!
- 0:22[both] Whoa!
- 0:25[kid 2] You might think they're creepy crawlers,
- 0:27but bugs are low key amazing.
- 0:30[kid 1] And, there are a lot of them,
- 0:32around one million species of bugs have been discovered,
- 0:35maybe up to 10 million!
- 0:37[kid 2] Are they also called insects?
- 0:39[kid 1] Right!
- 0:40They have six legs, and three main body parts...
- 0:43...that’s how you spot one!
- 0:45[kid 2] What about spiders? And their fancy name...
- 0:47...arach, uh, arach, uh.
- 0:49[kid 1] Arachnids!
- 0:51They have eight legs and two body parts.
- 0:53[kid 2] So spiders aren't insects?
- 0:55[kid 1] That's right, but both belong to one big family,
- 0:58with tiny armor and bendy limbs.
- 1:00[kid 2] These bugs are amazing!
- 1:02I heard that ants can carry more than 50 times
- 1:04their own weight, that's superhero level.
- 1:07[kid 1] Right? Tiny creatures, big powers.
- 1:10No wonder insects have been here for nearly 350 million years,
- 1:14they've been winning forever.
- 1:17[kid 2] There's gonna be so much whoa factor here,
- 1:19I can feel it!
- 1:20Let's kick it off, whatcha got?
- 1:22[kid 1] I'm starting with beetles.
- 1:24Remember when I said there are 1 million species of bugs?
- 1:27Over a third of that is beetles!
- 1:29[kid 2] Wait, so if I see a
- 1:30random bug,
- 1:32there's a 35% chance its a beetle?
- 1:34That's wild.
- 1:36[kid 1] Some are actually helpful,
- 1:37they clean up waste and eat pests.
- 1:39[kid 2] So they're like tiny janitors
- 1:41and security guards? Respect.
- 1:44[kid 1] But some are villains.
- 1:46Like beetles that destroy crops and trees.
- 1:49[kid 2] Of course, every good story needs a boss fight.
- 1:53[kid 1] Oh, and fun twist, ladybugs?
- 1:55They're beetles. Fireflies too.
- 1:58So yeah, beetles run the world.
- 2:00[kid 2] I think we're just NPCs in their game now.
- 2:03[kid 1] Whoa Factor Level: Next Up, World Domination
- 2:08[kid 2] I'm going with one that has real main character energy.
- 2:11Look at these caterpillars!
- 2:12[kid 1] They look ready for a fashion show!
- 2:15[kid 2] They're out there just strutting around, then boom,
- 2:17completely transform into butterflies and moths.
- 2:22[kid 1] That's a serious glow up!
- 2:24[kid 2] You'll like this, baby caterpillars eat nonstop
- 2:28to get ready for their transformation.
- 2:30[kid 1] I feel like there was a book about this,
- 2:33but same, I'm always hungry.
- 2:35[kid 2] Butterflies can also see very well and
- 2:37fly super accurately, dodging obstacles like pros.
- 2:42[kid 1] So they've got better aim than me in video games?
- 2:45Not fair.
- 2:47[kid 2] Monarch butterflies are famous for traveling
- 2:49thousands of miles for the winter.
- 2:51[kid 1] Thousands?
- 2:52Bro I complain about walking down the street.
- 2:55[kid 2] You do.
- 2:56It takes multiple generations to complete each migration,
- 2:59like a relay race.
- 3:00[kid 1] Teamwork does make the dream work.
- 3:02[kid 2] Whoa Factor Level: Transformation Arc Unlocked.
- 3:06[kid 1] I'm so excited for this next one.
- 3:09Spiders!
- 3:11[kid 2] I'm not really sure I'm ready for this.
- 3:13They're creepy...
- 3:14[kid 1] No way. They are so cool.
- 3:17Also, most spiders are chill.
- 3:19They only bite if you mess with them.
- 3:21[kid 2] Okay, but you better have some good ones for me
- 3:23to stick around.
- 3:25[kid 1] Jumping spiders, these guys don't use webs
- 3:28to catch food.
- 3:29They hunt like tiny ninjas.
- 3:31[kid 2] Okay, teensy stealth mode activated.
- 3:34That's pretty cool.
- 3:35[kid 1] And they can jump as much as 40 times
- 3:38their body length.
- 3:39[kid 2] If I could do that...
- 3:40I'll be jumping right out of doing my chores!
- 3:43[kid 1] Plus they've got super good eyesight,
- 3:46like built in zoom lenses.
- 3:49[kid 2] Up close, they're just so cute.
- 3:52[kid 1] Whoa Factor Level: Skills and style.
- 3:55[kid 2] I'm buzzing in here fast with the next group,
- 3:58wasps, bees, and ants.
- 4:00[kid 1] Nope, I'm out. You know how I feel about wasps.
- 4:03[kid 2] Wait! It's gonna be impressive.
- 4:05[kid 1] Fine, let's hear it.
- 4:07[kid 2] They're all part of a group with a super long name
- 4:10I'm not gonna try to say that.
- 4:12See? Look at that.
- 4:14[kid 1] Ooh, lemme try to sound it out...
- 4:16hy-men-OP-ter-uh. Hymenoptera!
- 4:19[kid 2] Let's go with that.
- 4:20[kid 2] They are MVP pollinators,
- 4:22they help plants make fruits and veggies.
- 4:25[kid 1] So without them, no snacks?
- 4:27We must protect them at all costs.
- 4:30[kid 2] Ants are wild too, they can make up like
- 4:32half the insects in some forests.
- 4:34[kid 1] Half?
- 4:35That's not a colony, that's a whole city.
- 4:39[kid 2] Whoa Factor Level: Helpful, but stay over there.
- 4:43[kid 1] This was an epic bug adventure.
- 4:45Which was your favorite?
- 4:47[kid 2] I'm going with the beetle.
- 4:48I love a good glow up moment.
- 4:51[kid 1] I'm totally team spider.
- 4:52Jumpy and good at design, so talented!
- 4:56[kid 2] Your turn!
- 4:57Which bug has the most whoa factor?
- 4:59[kid 1] Time to bug out!
- 5:01[kid 2] Byeeee.
- 5:02[kid 1] Buh-bye.
