- 0:00is it your intention to always tell the
- 0:02truth from that Podium and will you
- 0:04pledge never to knowingly say something
- 0:07that is not factual it is it's an honor
- 0:10to do this and uh yes I believe that we
- 0:14have to be honest with the American
- 0:15people after drawing criticism for
- 0:17inaccurately describing the size of
- 0:19President Trump's inauguration crowd
- 0:21over the weekend White House Press
- 0:23Secretary Sean Spicer not surprisingly
- 0:26got asked about it in his first press
- 0:28briefing Monday I think sometimes we can
- 0:30disagree with the facts there are times
- 0:31when you guys tweet something out or
- 0:34write a story and you publish a
- 0:35correction that doesn't mean that you
- 0:37were intentionally trying to deceive
- 0:39readers of the American people does it
- 0:41and I think we should be afforded the
- 0:42same opportunity but Spicer did stick by
- 0:46one of the claims he made during his
- 0:47fiery statement Saturday this was the
- 0:49largest audience to ever witness an
- 0:52inauguration period both in person and
- 0:55around the globe it's unquestionable I
- 0:57don't I don't and I don't see any
- 0:59numbers that that dispute that when you
- 1:01add up attendance viewership or total
- 1:04audience includ of tablets phones uh on
- 1:07television Monday's briefing signaled a
- 1:09shakeup of sorts Spicer broke with
- 1:12tradition by not calling on the
- 1:13Associated Press first he also held off
- 1:16on calling on journalists from some of
- 1:18the largest outlets and Publications
- 1:20until later into the briefing with that
- 1:23I look forward to taking your questions
- 1:25Daniel Halper New York Post instead he
- 1:27first called on smaller outlets and
- 1:29Publications like the New York Post and
- 1:32Christian Broadcasting Network Spicer
- 1:34also announced they'd add four Skype
- 1:36seats to the briefing room later this
- 1:38week they'll be open to journalists who
- 1:40live more than 50 miles outside of
- 1:42Washington DC and to organizations that
- 1:45don't have a permanent pass to the White
- 1:47House I think this can benefit us all by
- 1:49giving a platform to to voices that are
- 1:52not necessarily based here in the
- 1:53Beltway
