- 0:00Today is perhaps the last day we can use
- 0:02the internet safely. Because tomorrow,
- 0:04that new law we've been talking about
- 0:06for so long arrives. A social media ban
- 0:08for those 15 and under. However, let's
- 0:10not look at this just as a social media
- 0:12ban for under 15s. Because tomorrow,
- 0:14many things will actually change, and we
- 0:16will all be affected by it.
- 0:18As for what I will tell you in this
- 0:20video, what statement did social media
- 0:22platforms make regarding this? Whose
- 0:24accounts will be closed? Whose will not
- 0:26be closed? How will we verify our social
- 0:29media accounts once the law takes effect
- 0:31? If our social media accounts are
- 0:33closed, will we be able to reopen them?
- 0:35How do similar laws work abroad, and has
- 0:38social media usage really decreased
- 0:40after these laws?
- 0:41And at the same time, a scam being
- 0:43conducted over the social media ban. Yes
- 0:45, scams regarding this have already
- 0:47started happening. After that, what will
- 0:49happen to social media platforms that do
- 0:51not comply with the rules? How will
- 0:53games be affected by this new law? I
- 0:55will tell you all about these things. As
- 0:57you can see, our list is quite long. So
- 1:00, if you are ready, let's begin. I have
- 1:02come to you with an excellent
- 1:03opportunity.
- 1:04Our channel's sponsor, Enaba, as
- 1:06Europe's largest digital store, allows
- 1:08you to purchase games for Steam,
- 1:10PlayStation, Xbox, and many other
- 1:12platforms quickly and cheaply.
- 1:14You can also buy products like Valorant
- 1:16VP points or cheap Minecraft accounts.
- 1:19The even better part is that you earn
- 1:21back a certain portion of every product
- 1:23you buy as bonus money in your wallet,
- 1:25and you can then use this bonus money to
- 1:27buy new products. Moreover, the Steam
- 1:29games you purchase are delivered to you
- 1:31as Steam Keys. What more could you want
- 1:32from a digital store, right? If you also
- 1:34want to catch good prices on your game
- 1:36and digital purchases, you can check out
- 1:38Enaba via the link in the description.
- 1:40First, let's look at the statements made
- 1:42by the platforms. First, Twitch made a
- 1:44statement regarding this matter. As of
- 1:46yesterday, users under 15 can no longer
- 1:49own a Twitch account. I mean, they acted
- 1:51a bit quickly on this. They started the
- 1:54implementation even before the law went
- 1:55into effect. Existing accounts will
- 1:58supposedly be closed by February 2025.
- 2:00That is, if no verification is done. How
- 2:02the verification will be done has not
- 2:04been announced yet. According to the
- 2:06government, we will be doing
- 2:07verification via e-Government. However,
- 2:09integrating this into all platforms is
- 2:11quite difficult. But what can we do? The
- 2:13system is like this now.
- 2:15Following this, YouTube also made a
- 2:17statement and said that if they are
- 2:19forced to, they will close the accounts
- 2:21of users under 15.
- 2:22But they don't even know themselves how
- 2:24they will detect this.
- 2:26Because a system like e-Government has
- 2:28never been used on YouTube before. I
- 2:29mean, will Turkey really be able to
- 2:31bring this about? This is a matter of
- 2:33curiosity. But if they cannot, people
- 2:35will probably continue to watch YouTube
- 2:37using a VPN. I swear, just to be safe, I
- 2:39have already downloaded 3 or 4 VPNs. It
- 2:41is clear we will need them. But as I
- 2:43said, YouTube will also start closing
- 2:45these accounts. However, the interesting
- 2:48part is that among social media
- 2:49platforms, YouTube was the only one to
- 2:51react to this decision. The other
- 2:53platforms just said they would bow to
- 2:55this decision by Turkey.
- 2:57YouTube, on the contrary, says they do
- 2:59not support this decision but will be
- 3:01forced to implement it if they have to.
- 3:03As for Snapchat, many of you probably
- 3:06don't use it anyway.
- 3:07However, with the announcement made by
- 3:09Snapchat, those under 15 will no longer
- 3:11be able to open new accounts as of
- 3:12November 1st.
- 3:14Those under 18 will not be able to
- 3:15access certain parts of the application
- 3:17. Their accounts will be private. They
- 3:19will not be able to go live or see
- 3:22personalized ads. March 31, 202-, is the
- 3:24deadline for you to verify your account
- 3:27. Oh, by the way, let's not forget to
- 3:29mention this. Let's recall the law again
- 3:31. If you are under 15, you cannot use
- 3:33social media. If you are under 18,
- 3:36meaning in the 15, 16, and 17 age groups
- 3:38, you can open a social media account,
- 3:40but you will have a restricted account.
- 3:43Your account will not be public. You
- 3:45cannot go live. You do not have the
- 3:47infinite scroll feature. Meaning you
- 3:48only have a certain amount of scrolling
- 3:50allowed. Your algorithm will be as the
- 3:52state desires, and your messaging will
- 3:54be restricted.
- 3:56At the same time, if you are a content
- 3:57creator under 18, which will victimize
- 3:59many people, and you earn money from
- 4:01social media, there is a possibility
- 4:03that your account will be closed.
- 4:05I mean, at least that's what the state
- 4:07says. As I said before, I think these
- 4:09things will be resolved with a VPN.
- 4:11At the same time, even if you have
- 4:12verified yourself via e-Government,
- 4:14suspicious accounts will still be
- 4:15suspended. For example, let's say you
- 4:17verified with your father's account, but
- 4:19YouTube still thinks you are a child. In
- 4:22such a case, it may ask you to verify
- 4:24your age again. There is such an issue
- 4:25on the YouTube side as well. On the
- 4:27Twitch side, it seems Twitch will refund
- 4:29users 'money before closing the accounts
- 4:32. I don't know what money they will be
- 4:34refunding. I didn't quite understand
- 4:35that either. Because I have never used
- 4:36Twitch in my life. But just so you know
- 4:38. I mean, there is such a situation. So
- 4:40, how effective is this practice abroad
- 4:42? For example, such a law was introduced
- 4:44in Australia last year. Before the ban,
- 4:47children's social media usage was around
- 4:5085%. But after the ban, it only fell to
- 4:5382%. That remaining 3%probably cannot
- 4:56use it due to family pressure. As you
- 4:58can see, this law actually doesn't work
- 5:00at all. So why is the state introducing
- 5:02this law? In my opinion, the only thing
- 5:04the state wants is to be able to
- 5:05identify people. This way, if you are an
- 5:07opposition supporter, for example, you
- 5:09will be judged more easily for what you
- 5:11have written. Because when you look at
- 5:13it, whether you are 30 or 40, you now
- 5:15have to verify to social media platforms
- 5:17that you are not a child. So what does
- 5:20this mean? It means you have to give
- 5:21your identity and personal information
- 5:23to these social media platforms yourself
- 5:25.
- 5:25First of all, there will be a huge
- 5:27security vulnerability here. Almost
- 5:28everyone with a social media account
- 5:30will be affected by this. Secondly,
- 5:32there will be no such thing as anonymity
- 5:34left. The state will know who everyone
- 5:36is and will be able to judge whomever it
- 5:38wants, however it wants. With the 2028
- 5:39elections approaching, it is not very
- 5:41surprising that they have made such a
- 5:44decision. Now let's come to this fraud
- 5:46system. A few days ago, the Presidential
- 5:48Center for Combating Disinformation made
- 5:50an important statement.
- 5:52According to the statement, attempts by
- 5:54scammers to seize your personal and
- 5:55financial information using the age
- 5:57verification regulation have been
- 5:58detected.
- 6:00So, some people are sending out fake
- 6:02messages claiming your account will be
- 6:04closed and sending links that insist you
- 6:06need to verify your age immediately.
- 6:09They are even using fake e-government
- 6:11login pages for this, so they both take
- 6:13over your social media account and gain
- 6:14access to your e-government portal,
- 6:16which is the most dangerous part.
- 6:18Believe me, if your e-government account
- 6:20is stolen—which is actually very
- 6:21difficult to do. However, if you enter
- 6:23it yourself, then something like this
- 6:24could happen. Believe me, if something
- 6:26like that happens, it’s a huge problem.
- 6:28So please, be careful about these things
- 6:29. There is no such regulation in place
- 6:31right now. I will inform you as soon as
- 6:32this regulation starts to be implemented
- 6:34anyway. So you can stay tuned. So, what
- 6:37will happen to social media platforms
- 6:38that do not follow the rules? First, 3%
- 6:40of their global turnover will be
- 6:42deducted, which is a very large amount.
- 6:45I don’t think any social media platform
- 6:47will pay this. If the rules are still
- 6:49not met 30 days after this penalty, they
- 6:51will be banned from receiving new
- 6:53advertisements from Turkey. If
- 6:55compliance is still not met within 3
- 6:57months after the advertising ban, a 50%
- 6:59bandwidth throttling will be applied by
- 7:01court order. If this violation continues
- 7:03, the bandwidth throttling rate will
- 7:05increase to 90%this time. So, this
- 7:07actually means a ban on social media
- 7:09platforms. Oh, by the way, I would like
- 7:11to inform you about something. For
- 7:12example, regarding Steam, there are
- 7:14claims that access to about 700 games on
- 7:16Steam has been blocked. But Steam has
- 7:18not implemented any of these. I will
- 7:20investigate this issue as well, don’t
- 7:21worry. We will talk about the subject in
- 7:23more detail in another video. However,
- 7:25this is a big problem, for example.
- 7:26Because Steam has still not made any
- 7:28statement regarding this issue. And you
- 7:30know, we don’t have much time left. One
- 7:32day later, that is tomorrow, the social
- 7:33media restriction will have started.
- 7:35However, as far as we know, there is no
- 7:37age restriction regarding games right
- 7:39now. You won't be able to play some
- 7:41games because you are underage, but this
- 7:42exists everywhere in the world anyway.
- 7:44Sure, no one follows this rule, that’s
- 7:46another matter, but I don’t know; there
- 7:47is no such thing as a ban on playing
- 7:49games for those under 15, just so you
- 7:50know.
- 7:51Your game accounts won't be closed, but
- 7:53as I said, if you reside in Turkey, you
- 7:55have to verify your age here too, and
- 7:56after verifying your age, you won't be
- 7:58able to play some games; even if they
- 8:00are in your library, you won't be able
- 8:02to play them, let me put it that way.
- 8:04Okay, let's say you are an adult, you
- 8:06are around 30 years old, but your
- 8:07account was still closed, what will you
- 8:09do in this case? An appeal mechanism
- 8:11will be established for this. If your
- 8:13account was closed by mistake, you will
- 8:15be able to appeal this decision and have
- 8:18your account reopened. But there is
- 8:20something I don't understand here. For
- 8:22example, what would happen if you made
- 8:24this appeal using a VPN and said that
- 8:26you are not Turkish? Would YouTube
- 8:28believe this and reopen your account? Or
- 8:30would they say, "No brother, I think you
- 8:32are Turkish"? And then just close it?
- 8:34That is one of the things I am most
- 8:35curious about. Because no matter where
- 8:37you go in the world, there is no such
- 8:39thing. But Turkey is interestingly
- 8:40saying that we will be the outlier in
- 8:42this regard. Let's see if it will really
- 8:44be like that. Yes, in summary, this is
- 8:46what the law tells us. I hope I have
- 8:48been able to inform you in detail. That
- 8:50is all I have to share for now. I will
- 8:53continue to keep you updated as more
- 8:54details emerge. See you in the next
- 8:56videos. Take care of yourselves. Goodbye
- 8:59. Yeah.
