  1. 0:00He like the subway cuz he like to eat
  2. 0:02fresh. I know where you was going. No,
  3. 0:04he preferred booty on a plate.
  4. 0:06Let my tether powers combine.
  5. 0:08>> You were born and raised in a culture
  6. 0:09that does not change your bloodline,
  7. 0:10bro.
  8. 0:12[music]
  9. 0:16>> What your thoughts about you know cuz
  10. 0:18people will use the regrouping black
  11. 0:20culture so therefore X Y and what do you
  12. 0:22think about non-black people or even
  13. 0:23non-black Americans using the N-word?
  14. 0:25>> How long do I have to be in your garage
  15. 0:27before I become a car?
  16. 0:29[laughter]
  17. 0:30>> How long do you have to be in the
  18. 0:31garage?
  19. 0:31>> How long do I have to be in the garage
  20. 0:33before I become before I become a lamp?
  21. 0:36Never? No matter how long I sit next to
  22. 0:38a car?
  23. 0:38>> How do you come up with these [ __ ]
  24. 0:40ideas?
  25. 0:40>> Bro, like what the [ __ ]
  26. 0:41>> The thing of it is, right? Just because
  27. 0:43you got proximity to something doesn't
  28. 0:44mean that it's yours.
  29. 0:47You see what I mean? Legally, you have
  30. 0:49the right to say whatever you want to.
  31. 0:50You're taking a risk depending on who's
  32. 0:52around and I mean that's your that's
  33. 0:53your right to take that risk.
  34. 0:55>> I'm with you on this. Sometimes it's
  35. 0:57hard cuz sometimes it's just very well
  36. 0:59placed. Like if you go watch the Antoine
  37. 1:00Fisher story when Antoine Fisher goes
  38. 1:02back to his foster family and she says
  39. 1:07It's the way she says it.
  40. 1:09[laughter] It's like man, nah. Like
  41. 1:11>> It was very well delivered.
  42. 1:13>> What's the definition in your context
  43. 1:15and do you feel like a lot of black
  44. 1:16Americans are using that word in more of
  45. 1:19a offensive derogatory term when it
  46. 1:21comes to black migrants?
  47. 1:22>> People use the term [ __ ] as a defensive
  48. 1:24derogatory term towards black people
  49. 1:26they choose not to agree with. There are
  50. 1:28people who can use any word and make it
  51. 1:29bad. People can use any word and make it
  52. 1:31good, my [ __ ]
  53. 1:32Having said that, a tether is somebody
  54. 1:34who cosplays as a foundational black
  55. 1:36American when it benefits them and then
  56. 1:38shuns us when it doesn't. They hide
  57. 1:40behind their culture when it's negative
  58. 1:42to be associated with foundational black
  59. 1:43Americans but jump the line when it
  60. 1:45comes to getting benefits. The majority
  61. 1:47of people who are immigrants are not
  62. 1:50tethers. A lot of people ride for us. A
  63. 1:52lot of people respect the fact that we
  64. 1:54delineate because they delineate. The
  65. 1:56the time I've ever seen you tethery is
  66. 1:57when old girl was like, "Yo, are they
  67. 1:59black Americans?" That That was You had
  68. 2:00a tethery moment cuz you was like, "But
  69. 2:01she also said that everybody was dirty."
  70. 2:03It was a tethery moment.
  71. 2:04>> though. I told her she was wilding
  72. 2:05though. I told her she
  73. 2:06>> her she was wilding but you still gave
  74. 2:08grace. You put on the You put on the
  75. 2:09Captain Tether Cape. It's like you just
  76. 2:11put your wing up. Let's my tether powers
  77. 2:13combine.
  78. 2:14>> You know what? I'm I will take
  79. 2:15accountability.
  80. 2:16>> Cuz I didn't hear you say, "I apologize
  81. 2:17foundational black Americans. I let this
  82. 2:20lace-front wearing tether disrespect
  83. 2:22y'all and I kind of copped a little bit
  84. 2:23of a plea." I didn't hear you say that.
  85. 2:25>> I didn't see you do that.
  86. 2:25>> Well, yeah, yeah, yeah. I I I take
  87. 2:27accountability for that situation. I got
  88. 2:28No, I mean, I'm Anybody that knows me
  89. 2:30knows that I try not to be
  90. 2:31confrontational. You know what I'm
  91. 2:32saying? But
  92. 2:32>> No, no, but I just I just I apologize
  93. 2:34foundational black Americans.
  94. 2:35>> I apologize to all the foundational
  95. 2:37black Americans, you know what I'm
  96. 2:38saying? I should have handled that
  97. 2:38situation better.
  98. 2:39>> It's simple. I'm simple. It's very
  99. 2:41simple.
  100. 2:41>> With that being said,
  101. 2:43I don't believe I'm a I'm a tether.
  102. 2:44>> I don't think you're a tether either. I
  103. 2:45I I think you're a rider. Stop debating
  104. 2:47people who are not on your level.
  105. 2:51>> who want to question my blackness saying
  106. 2:53I'm a tether because my father's
  107. 2:55Jamaican. And I'm not going to
  108. 2:56disrespect my heritage from my father's
  109. 2:58side but to make anyone feel happy, "Oh,
  110. 3:00if you not black American, we about to
  111. 3:02stone him." You know what I'm saying?
  112. 3:03It's It's a huge discomfort coming out
  113. 3:05here where it's it's kind of like hate.
  114. 3:07And I don't want us to have the hate
  115. 3:09that these other people have with the
  116. 3:10pale skin.
  117. 3:11>> The other part of that is you know where
  118. 3:13your heart is. You know what it is that
  119. 3:15you are and what it is that you aren't.
  120. 3:17If you're letting people who are not
  121. 3:19feeding, [ __ ] or financing you
  122. 3:21control how you feel, that is something
  123. 3:23you need to take to your therapist.
  124. 3:25>> Also, I can't please everybody. Like, I
  125. 3:28got Godfrey to apologize and people was
  126. 3:29like, "You ain't go hard enough on him."
  127. 3:31So, now you want entertainment. You
  128. 3:32don't want to understand it. You don't
  129. 3:34want respect. Now you want
  130. 3:36entertainment. You don't want atonement.
  131. 3:38I'm not going to waste my time trying to
  132. 3:40please everybody. The people who
  133. 3:41understand what I'm doing, it's cool.
  134. 3:43Well, such and such should have did it.
  135. 3:44Well, then get such and such to call
  136. 3:45Godfrey. But you didn't.
  137. 3:47>> what does it take to truly build wealth?
  138. 3:49I know you have a couple of courses,
  139. 3:51things of that nature. Can you explain
  140. 3:52the questions you have and then dive
  141. 3:54into what it takes for black Americans
  142. 3:55to truly build wealth in this country?
  143. 3:57>> Mhm. My mother has a has a real estate
  144. 3:59portfolio. You know what I'm saying?
  145. 4:00Like my mother gave me generational
  146. 4:01wealth. My mom gave me her house so I
  147. 4:03could take my money and build my
  148. 4:05business. And people look down on you.
  149. 4:07You got your mom's Sure did. That's
  150. 4:09what's called generational wealth.
  151. 4:11Donald Trump got a million dollars from
  152. 4:12his daddy and nobody batted an eye.
  153. 4:14>> Mhm.
  154. 4:14>> You mad cuz I got a house? We keep
  155. 4:16believing this thing that it's so hard
  156. 4:19to work for yourself and it is. You know
  157. 4:22what else is hard? Working for a boss
  158. 4:24that you're better than. So going to
  159. 4:25your boss and having an end of year
  160. 4:27review and them saying that you can't
  161. 4:28even afford they can't even afford a
  162. 4:30cost of living increase for you even
  163. 4:32though you know you doubled your
  164. 4:33numbers. But you do it. You watch what
  165. 4:34you say on social media because you
  166. 4:36don't want to be fired. Choose your
  167. 4:37hard. It was hard being fat. It's hard
  168. 4:39not overeating. I chose my hard. This is
  169. 4:42extra large. I needed like five, six,
  170. 4:45seven more of these X's. You know what I
  171. 4:47mean? Like you got to choose your hard.
  172. 4:49The other part of that is when I was
  173. 4:51selling home security systems, I made
  174. 4:54friends with every local pizza joint. I
  175. 4:55made friends with every cable installer.
  176. 4:58I made friends with every apartment
  177. 4:59manager. I made friends with every
  178. 5:00property manager because they would give
  179. 5:02me leads. And I in turn would give them
  180. 5:04leads. It's a symbiotic cyclical mutual
  181. 5:08beneficial relationship. See how that
  182. 5:11works, Pan-Africans? Okay. So if we
  183. 5:13start looking for people who specialize
  184. 5:16in what it is that you lack that can
  185. 5:17complement what it is that you have. So
  186. 5:19for example, if you manufacture hoodies
  187. 5:23and somebody else manufactures hats,
  188. 5:25there's synergy there. How many like
  189. 5:27what's your banker's name?
  190. 5:29Thank you. How How many do do you have a
  191. 5:31bank account in any black banks? No. No.
  192. 5:34Not a No. Again, you were asking me
  193. 5:36about generational wealth?
  194. 5:37>> They did. Stop putting us on the spot.
  195. 5:38You're making us look bad.
  196. 5:38>> You asked the question.
  197. 5:40You asked the question.
  198. 5:41>> True.
  199. 5:42>> Everybody says this. How many times have
  200. 5:43you said, "I'mma start a t-shirt line."
  201. 5:45You don't have an [screaming] audience.
  202. 5:47>> Mhm.
  203. 5:47>> You got learn how to build an audience
  204. 5:49first.
  205. 5:49>> Mhm. And then people are like, "Well, I
  206. 5:50got a website and I got this." I said,
  207. 5:51"So, what's your marketing plan?" Well,
  208. 5:52I got social media. You and 5 billion
  209. 5:54other people. I'm teaching you how to
  210. 5:57not put the cart before the horse. If
  211. 5:59you build the audience and you create a
  212. 6:01fandom, then you sell t-shirts. Were
  213. 6:03y'all selling t-shirts on day one?
  214. 6:04>> No.
  215. 6:05>> Why not?
  216. 6:06>> We had an audience.
  217. 6:07>> I must be psychic. Do you like
  218. 6:08sandwiches, Eli?
  219. 6:10>> Mhm.
  220. 6:10>> What's your favorite sandwich?
  221. 6:12>> Y'all are I was I thought they joked
  222. 6:14like it was like
  223. 6:15>> Not the ass sandwich. Aside from that,
  224. 6:17cuz I know that's where they're going.
  225. 6:17They're immature. I'm here for you.
  226. 6:19>> I don't know what
  227. 6:20>> I'm here for you. I already know. Like,
  228. 6:21no.
  229. 6:21>> I'm going to say nothing.
  230. 6:22>> No, you wasn't. I know you He like the
  231. 6:24Subway cuz he like to eat fresh. I know
  232. 6:26where you was going. No.
  233. 6:27>> He preferred booty on the plate.
  234. 6:30>> I tried I tried I tried real hard. I I
  235. 6:33was trying real
  236. 6:34Uh and
  237. 6:35>> You can never have a full conversation
  238. 6:36>> I'm making a point.
  239. 6:38>> Okay.
  240. 6:38>> What's your favorite sandwich?
  241. 6:40>> Turkey sandwich. Let's go with turkey
  242. 6:41sandwich. I like it.
  243. 6:42>> How do you make it?
  244. 6:43>> Lettuce, tomatoes,
  245. 6:44uh oil and vinegar. Uh
  246. 6:46>> What else? What's the first thing?
  247. 6:47>> The bread.
  248. 6:48>> Exactly. So, no matter what you doing,
  249. 6:49the bread comes first. [laughter]
  250. 6:52>> He got me overthinking this [ __ ]
  251. 6:54>> Like uh lettuce and tomato, little oil,
  252. 6:56uh like some I like some Mediterranean
  253. 6:58oregano. It's a It's a six, but it's
  254. 7:00Italian.
  255. 7:01>> language without the bread. Like, that's
  256. 7:01why I just a sandwich bread is just you
  257. 7:03know what I mean?
  258. 7:03>> Exactly. What is a sandwich without the
  259. 7:05bread? We got to prioritize making the
  260. 7:06money first. You got to prioritize
  261. 7:08building the audience so that you can
  262. 7:09make the money. Non-traditional revenue,
  263. 7:11monthly monthly recurring revenue. Like,
  264. 7:13we got to have those conversations.
  265. 7:14>> we don't control that infrastructure.
  266. 7:16So, again, the infrastructure is deeper
  267. 7:18than just you you controlling your own
  268. 7:20like, you know, social media. It goes to
  269. 7:22we don't control damn near the internet
  270. 7:23at this point like or whatever the case
  271. 7:24is. Like, so how do we get to the point
  272. 7:26where we start to control the
  273. 7:27infrastructure? Cuz right now we're
  274. 7:28borrowing everybody else's
  275. 7:29infrastructure to build our own
  276. 7:31platforms or whatever the case
  277. 7:32>> Stop making everything sexy a priority.
  278. 7:36Like, there's a lot of jobs when it
  279. 7:38comes to content creation. There's a lot
  280. 7:40of jobs when it comes to social media.
  281. 7:42Somebody got to run them cameras.
  282. 7:43>> Mhm.
  283. 7:44>> Somebody got to do the editing.
  284. 7:45>> Mhm.
  285. 7:45>> My editor makes a lot of money.
  286. 7:47>> You know what it is.
  287. 7:49>> See, but that's not sexy.
  288. 7:50>> Mhm.
  289. 7:51>> Cuz you don't get to shine, but your
  290. 7:52people do, right? Because if you're the
  291. 7:55editor, you control what your people
  292. 7:56see. Who says that you can't get a bunch
  293. 7:59of cloud servers and own them yourself?
  294. 8:01Is there a law against that? There is
  295. 8:02not.
  296. 8:03>> Mhm.
  297. 8:03>> You want to talk about infrastructure,
  298. 8:05make every single part of what it takes
  299. 8:09to put a show like this on sexy.
  300. 8:10>> Not just no book of just Eli.
  301. 8:13>> You know what I mean? Like it's just
  302. 8:14there has to be more conversation about
  303. 8:16what that looks like because now I need
  304. 8:18my children to know who they are. If I
  305. 8:20were to tell my youngest daughter right
  306. 8:21now, Devlin, you are a what? She'll say,
  307. 8:23"I'm a beautiful black queen." Because I
  308. 8:25drilled that in her.
  309. 8:26>> Mhm.
  310. 8:26>> Self-esteem for our babies is extremely
  311. 8:29important. And seeing your people up on
  312. 8:31a big screen, and they're not running
  313. 8:33with a ball, they're not nobody's drug
  314. 8:35dealer, they ain't nobody's pimp, they
  315. 8:36ain't nobody's hustler, they ain't
  316. 8:37nobody's slacker, they ain't nobody's
  317. 8:39idiot or doofus, and they ain't nobody's
  318. 8:41sellout.
  319. 8:41>> Facts.
  320. 8:42>> is extremely important. Real business is
  321. 8:44ugly, real business is quiet, and I'm
  322. 8:47here to teach you real business, not the
  323. 8:49sexy [ __ ] We can get to the sexy [ __ ]
  324. 8:51after we get the foundational down. If
  325. 8:52you don't know what I have, you don't
  326. 8:55know what to attack. So, again, by the
  327. 8:57time they know it's happening, it's too
  328. 9:01late. I have as many times as I've done
  329. 9:03this show, I've never made an
  330. 9:04announcement that it wasn't too late.
  331. 9:06You understand what I'm saying? Like
  332. 9:07it's already done. If I'm talking about
  333. 9:08it, it's done.
  334. 9:09>> It's done.
  335. 9:10>> Mhm.
  336. 9:10>> Follow me on all social media platforms
  337. 9:12@thebusinessbully. hiddencolors6.com,
  338. 9:14please go get your tickets and and
  339. 9:16support this film. It's going to be
  340. 9:17something you can bring your kids to.
  341. 9:19Please come through. It's It's going to
  342. 9:20be absolutely awesome. I'm very excited
  343. 9:21about that. And then, oh, link in my bio
