- 0:01Welcome to Laundromat News. Today I am
- 0:04America's very favorite laundromat news
- 0:07anchor. I think because I'm the only
- 0:09one. If there's another one, then I
- 0:11might lose my title. Jordan Barry here
- 0:14bringing you news from around the world
- 0:16all things laundromat related. Let's
- 0:18start out with a story of redemption out
- 0:20of the great city of Philadelphia where
- 0:23a former con artist is using a mobile
- 0:28laundromat that he put together to help
- 0:30unhoused or homeless people get clean
- 0:32clothes. This was born out of tragedy
- 0:35after working in his family's laundromat
- 0:37after getting out of prison and then
- 0:38losing his brother uh due to a shooting
- 0:41as a on the job as a tow truck driver.
- 0:45uh he decided he wanted to do something
- 0:46more with his life and is doing
- 0:47something great with his mobile
- 0:50laundromat, helping people get clean
- 0:52clothes. So, shout out to him. Uh Joe
- 0:54Richardson out there in Philly. Keep
- 0:56doing the good stuff out there. And uh
- 0:59listen, man, if there's anything we can
- 1:00do and you catch catch wind of this, let
- 1:03us know what we can do. Um okay, let's
- 1:07uh we got to talk franchise. There's a
- 1:10lot going on franchising right now.
- 1:13uh Tide Services, who uh it's got to be
- 1:19the fastest growing franchise in our
- 1:21industry right now, is uh is looking to
- 1:24expand in 2026. And it's going to be
- 1:27conversion-ledd growth mostly in 2026,
- 1:31or at least they're putting more focus
- 1:32on that as opposed to building out new
- 1:34locations. They're looking at picking up
- 1:36existing locations and converting them
- 1:38into Tide franchises and uh Tide Tide
- 1:41laundromats and Tide Cleaners um going
- 1:44around and they've got some big growth
- 1:46plans for 2026. So, if you want to read
- 1:48more about that, make sure you're signed
- 1:50up for the laundromat resource
- 1:52newsletter over there atresource.com.
- 1:55Uh and you'll get links to all of these
- 1:57articles uh that we talk about today.
- 2:00Um,
- 2:02listen, uh, I just want to read one
- 2:04quote from the president CEO of Tide
- 2:05Services, which is the Tide the P and
- 2:08Proctor and Gamble franchise, uh, wing
- 2:11of Proctor and Gamble. Uh, his name is
- 2:13Andy Gibson. He says, "In 2025, we
- 2:15leaned into that reality by backing
- 2:19strong operators and modernizing legacy
- 2:22businesses without disrupting
- 2:23communities they serve." So, that's what
- 2:24they're trying to do right now. And uh
- 2:27listen man, they're coming strong both
- 2:30through building and through acquiring
- 2:33existing locations and converting them
- 2:35to Fran uh to Tide franchises there.
- 2:38Tide Laundromats, Tide Cleaners. Um and
- 2:41uh speaking of franchises, out there in
- 2:43Dallas, there's a new Laundry Lab
- 2:45putting a new spin on the laundromat
- 2:47experience there in the Dallas Fort
- 2:49Worth area. So go check that out. Um,
- 2:52Laundry Lab, uh, Laundry Lab,
- 2:55Laundro Lab, uh, Grand Prairie is also,
- 2:59uh, there and Laundry Lab Mosquite. Uh,
- 3:02so, you know, the franchises making some
- 3:06moves these day. And speaking of
- 3:09franchises, Laundry Heap is which has
- 3:13been built as the world's largest
- 3:15ondemand laundry company announced uh
- 3:18it's launching into Quoala Lumpur which
- 3:20I was just there not too long ago as
- 3:21part of the wider international
- 3:23expansion drive. They are in
- 3:26the dog is excited about this. They're
- 3:28in I believe 26 cities and yeah six uh
- 3:3328 cities in 16 countries including the
- 3:36US, Singapore, the Netherlands, the UK,
- 3:38United Arab Emirates, France and now
- 3:41Koala Lumpur uh Malaysia. So they are
- 3:45making big runs, making big headway
- 3:48worldwide. So keep an eye on Laundry
- 3:50Heap uh as they do their thing. Um,
- 3:54listen, weird little bit of news that's
- 3:56kind of laundromat related, but in
- 3:58Seaford, Delaware, there were reports of
- 4:01explosions happening all over the city,
- 4:04including at a local laundromat that
- 4:06turned out to be sonic booms from
- 4:09military jets flying close to the
- 4:12ground. Uh, and there was lots of uh
- 4:15lots of people freaking out about that,
- 4:16thinking explosions were happening all
- 4:18over the city. Craziness. Craziness. Um,
- 4:23okay. Just out. I bet you've been
- 4:27wondering what is the the most beloved
- 4:32movie in uh in laundromats in the
- 4:37laundromat industry. I know that's
- 4:39something that you were wondering. Well,
- 4:40it turns out survey says the most
- 4:43beloved movie in laundromats is A
- 4:46Wrinkle in Time. [music]
- 4:48I'm just kidding. That is the joke for
- 4:50today. And I listen, I like my laundry,
- 4:54like I like my jokes, a little dry. All
- 4:57right. Okay. Not funny, but that was my
- 4:59attempted joke for today. Wrinkle in
- 5:01time. Favorite laundry movie ever. Um,
- 5:04all right. We got to give a shout out to
- 5:06the city that brought us Disneyland.
- 5:09Anaheim school district is now offering
- 5:12free laundry services for students. So,
- 5:14this is really interesting uh because
- 5:16they're partnering with local
- 5:18laundromats to offer these free laundry
- 5:20services for students. Obviously, an
- 5:22amazing service. Um I've definitely
- 5:24heard stories, maybe you've heard them
- 5:26too, of kids who don't go to school
- 5:28because they don't have clean clothes.
- 5:30Uh this Anaheim's partnering with local
- 5:33laundromats to do something about it.
- 5:34So, very cool there. Um, and again, just
- 5:37one reason I wanted to highlight this is
- 5:39because I think it's a very cool story,
- 5:40but also for us as laundromat owners, be
- 5:43looking for opportunities to partner
- 5:46with the community, to partner with
- 5:48larger organizations, partner with
- 5:49government organizations. Um, not only
- 5:52is it something good for the communities
- 5:54and you know, things like that, which is
- 5:56incredible and a huge and unique
- 5:59opportunity we have as laundromat
- 6:01owners, but also
- 6:03these can be uh very profitable for us
- 6:06as well. So, doing good while making
- 6:08making some dough along the way. Um, so
- 6:10shout out to Anaheim School District for
- 6:13offering free laundry services for
- 6:15students. Okay, that's going to wrap us
- 6:18up for news from around the world. We
- 6:21hit from the west coast to the east
- 6:23coast. Franchises all the way out to
- 6:25Malaysia today and uh and back. So, it's
- 6:30news from around the world, all things
- 6:31laundromat related. We'll see you next
- 6:33week with the latest and greatest
- 6:35stories. Here's a challenge to you while
- 6:38you're out there. If you're a laundromat
- 6:40owner, hey, go make some headlines today
- 6:43and shoot them over to me because I'd
- 6:44love to feature them next week. Go do
- 6:46something awesome with your laundromat.
