Solomon Was the Richest Man Who Ever Lived — Copy These 7 Habits — Transcript

- 0:00The richest man who ever lived didn't
- 0:01win a lottery. He didn't inherit an
- 0:03empire.
- 0:05And he didn't have a single advantage
- 0:06you can't get your hands on right now.
- 0:09His name was Solomon, and scripture says
- 0:11he became so wealthy that silver stopped
- 0:14counting as money in his kingdom. The
- 0:16Bible literally says silver was nothing
- 0:19accounted of in his days. Rulers
- 0:21traveled from the ends of the earth just
- 0:23to stand in his court and see it with
- 0:25their own eyes.
- 0:27But here's the part that should stop you
- 0:28cold.
- 0:29God didn't hand Solomon that fortune
- 0:32because he was special.
- 0:34He gave it to him because of seven
- 0:35things Solomon did. Seven habits.
- 0:39And every one of them is written down,
- 0:41sitting in a book that's probably in
- 0:42your house right now. You've prayed for
- 0:44money. You fasted for a breakthrough.
- 0:47And maybe, if you're honest, you've
- 0:49watched someone who doesn't even fear
- 0:51God drive past you in the exact life
- 0:53you've been begging him for.
- 0:56And quietly wondered if he forgot your
- 0:57name. He didn't forget you. He already
- 1:00answered you. He answered you in the
- 1:02life of Solomon. You just never studied
- 1:05the man as a blueprint. So, before you
- 1:07whisper one more prayer about money,
- 1:09give me these next few minutes because
- 1:11the wealthiest man in human history left
- 1:13you seven instructions.
- 1:15And number two,
- 1:17number two is the one almost every
- 1:19believer gets completely backwards.
- 1:22Habit one. He never lived on a single
- 1:24stream. Start right here because this is
- 1:26the habit most people skip, and it's the
- 1:29reason they stay stuck.
- 1:31Solomon never had one source of income.
- 1:33Not one. First Kings 10:22 tells us he
- 1:37had a merchant fleet that sailed out and
- 1:39came back every 3 years loaded with
- 1:41gold, ivory, and silver. He had trade
- 1:43routes moving horses and fine linen. He
- 1:46had vineyards, herds, tribute from other
- 1:49kings, and tolls from every trader
- 1:51crossing his land. So, when one stream
- 1:54dried up, six others were still running.
- 1:57And this wasn't luck. He wrote the
- 1:58principle down himself. Ecclesiastes
- 2:0011:2, "Give a portion to seven and also
- 2:04to eight, for thou knowest not what evil
- 2:07shall be upon the earth." Seven and also
- 2:10to eight. That's the old Hebrew way of
- 2:12saying don't stop at what feels like
- 2:14enough. Spread it wider than that. And
- 2:16why? For you don't know what evil is
- 2:18coming. Solomon is telling you flat out
- 2:21something is going to go wrong.
- 2:23A job ends, a market crashes, and the
- 2:26man who built his whole life on one
- 2:28paycheck goes down with it. Four verses
- 2:30later, he says it again, even plainer.
- 2:33Ecclesiastes 11:6, "In the morning sow
- 2:36thy seed and in the evening withhold not
- 2:38thine hand, for thou knowest not whether
- 2:41shall prosper this or that."
- 2:43Plant in the morning. Plant again in the
- 2:45evening because you don't know which
- 2:47seed God will cause to grow. So, you
- 2:49don't bet everything on one. Here's what
- 2:52that means for you tonight.
- 2:54Your job is not your income. Your job is
- 2:56one stream. If the only money in your
- 2:58life stops the day your boss stops
- 3:01calling, you don't have security. You
- 3:03have a countdown. So, start a second
- 3:05stream this month. A skill you can sell.
- 3:08A small thing of your own. Something
- 3:10that doesn't die when one door closes
- 3:13because a person with one source of
- 3:14income is always one bad day away from
- 3:17ruin.
- 3:18Solomon knew that 3,000 years before
- 3:20your landlord did.
- 3:22Now you're waiting for number two. I'm
- 3:24not giving it to you. Not yet.
- 3:26Number two is the one almost every
- 3:28believer gets backwards and it's the
- 3:30engine underneath the other six. So, I'm
- 3:32holding it to the very end. Keep it in
- 3:34the back of your mind because from here
- 3:36on every single habit is secretly
- 3:39leaning on it. Let's keep going. Now,
- 3:41here's where it gets practical. Solomon
- 3:44didn't just work. He worked with
- 3:45excellence. And excellence is what put
- 3:48him in front of the powerful. Listen to
- 3:50his own words in Proverbs 22:29.
- 3:53Seest thou a man diligent in his
- 3:55business? He shall stand before kings.
- 3:58He shall not stand before mean men.
- 4:00Diligent, skilled, excellent. That kind
- 4:03of person doesn't end up in front of
- 4:05small men, he ends up in front of kings.
- 4:07And a few chapters earlier, Proverbs
- 4:0910:4, the hand of the diligent maketh
- 4:12rich.
- 4:13Here's the chain most people miss.
- 4:15Average work makes you invisible.
- 4:18When you're invisible, nobody fights to
- 4:20pay you more. You're replaceable, and
- 4:22the market knows it. But the moment you
- 4:24become genuinely excellent at something
- 4:26people need, you stop competing on
- 4:28price. You get pulled into rooms other
- 4:31people can't buy their way into. So, for
- 4:33you, in London, in Ohio, anywhere the
- 4:37rent keeps climbing, stop trying to get
- 4:39paid more for average work. Become the
- 4:42person they can't afford to lose. Get so
- 4:44good at one valuable skill that your
- 4:46name is the first one spoken when the
- 4:48big opportunity opens. Ecclesiastes 9:10
- 4:52puts it in a single line.
- 4:53Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it
- 4:56with thy might. Not halfway, with your
- 4:58might. And notice, becoming excellent
- 5:01means knowing what's even worth
- 5:03mastering. That's number two, already
- 5:05whispering. Hold on, because average
- 5:08gets you a paycheck. Mastery gets you a
- 5:10seat at the table.
- 5:12Habit four, he never built alone. Stay
- 5:15with me, because this is where a lot of
- 5:17ambitious people quietly sabotage
- 5:19themselves. The richest man alive did
- 5:21not build his empire by himself. When
- 5:23Solomon built the temple, he partnered
- 5:25with Hiram, king of Tyre, for timber,
- 5:27gold, and skilled craftsmen he didn't
- 5:29have. It's all there in 1 Kings chapter
- 5:325. He brought in the skill he lacked
- 5:34instead of pretending he had it all. And
- 5:37he taught it. Proverbs 15:22.
- 5:41Without counsel, purposes are
- 5:42disappointed, but in the multitude of
- 5:44counselors, they are established. In
- 5:47Proverbs 11:14,
- 5:49where no counsel is, the people fall.
- 5:52But in the multitude of counselors,
- 5:54there is safety. Here's the chain. When
- 5:56you build alone, you're capped by what
- 5:58you personally know, and worse, by what
- 6:01you don't know you don't know.
- 6:03Your blind spots cost you money you
- 6:05never even see leaving.
- 6:06But when you invite wise counsel in, you
- 6:09borrow eyes you don't have. You see the
- 6:11pit before you fall into it. So before
- 6:14your next big money move, the mortgage,
- 6:16the business, the investment, the career
- 6:18jump, don't decide it alone in your head
- 6:20at midnight.
- 6:21Find people wiser than you and ask. Get
- 6:25a mentor. Sit in rooms where people are
- 6:2710 years ahead of you. Solomon said it
- 6:30plainly in Ecclesiastes 4:9, "Two are
- 6:33better than one because they have a good
- 6:35reward for their labor." Quick, pause
- 6:38and comment the habit that's hitting you
- 6:39hardest so far, one through seven. I
- 6:42read them and they tell me what to teach
- 6:44next. And notice again, good counsel is
- 6:47just borrowed wisdom, which is number
- 6:49two.
- 6:50Keep waiting for it
- 6:52because your next level is usually
- 6:54hiding in a conversation you haven't had
- 6:56yet.
- 6:57Habit five, you refused the shortcut.
- 7:01This one cuts against everything the
- 7:02internet is selling you right now.
- 7:05Solomon watched people chase fast money
- 7:07and he warned against it in the sharpest
- 7:09terms.
- 7:10Proverbs 13:11,
- 7:12"Wealth gotten by vanity shall be
- 7:14diminished, but he that gathereth by
- 7:16labor shall increase." Money that shows
- 7:18up fast and easy tends to vanish just as
- 7:21fast, but money gathered bit by bit by
- 7:23labor,
- 7:25that money grows. In Proverbs 21:5,
- 7:28"The thoughts of the diligent tend only
- 7:30to plenteousness, but of everyone that
- 7:32is hasty only to want."
- 7:34Hasty leads to want.
- 7:36To lack. To broke. Here's the chain
- 7:39nobody wants to hear. When money comes
- 7:41with no roots, no skill built, no
- 7:43discipline formed, you're not ready to
- 7:45hold it, so it runs through your
- 7:46fingers. That's why so many lottery
- 7:48winners end up bankrupt. It's why the
- 7:50get-rich-quick crowd is always starting
- 7:52over. The same speed that thrilled you
- 7:55is the speed that wipes you out. So, in
- 7:57a world of overnight crypto millionaires
- 7:59and turn $50 into $50,000 by Friday, you
- 8:02go the other way.
- 8:04You build slow.
- 8:06You save consistently.
- 8:08You let it compound while everyone
- 8:09chasing the shortcut burns out and
- 8:11restarts. Boring, faithful money beats
- 8:14exciting, reckless money every single
- 8:17time. And patience like that is just
- 8:18wisdom applied to time.
- 8:20Number two again, because wealth that
- 8:22comes fast usually leaves faster.
- 8:26Habit six, he gave God the first, not
- 8:28the leftovers.
- 8:30Now, it goes deeper than money, and this
- 8:31is the one people skip when all they
- 8:33want is the cash. Before Solomon built
- 8:36his own palace, he built the house of
- 8:37God. The temple took 7 years. His own
- 8:40palace he built after. The order
- 8:42mattered to him. God's house first, his
- 8:44own comfort second.
- 8:46And he wrote the law of it in Proverbs
- 8:483:9-10.
- 8:50Honor the Lord with thy substance and
- 8:52with the first fruits of all thine
- 8:53increase, so shall thy barns be filled
- 8:55with plenty, and thy presses shall burst
- 8:58out with new wine. First fruits, not
- 9:01what's left after the rent, the car
- 9:02payment, the streaming subscriptions,
- 9:05and the takeout.
- 9:06The first, off the top. Here's the
- 9:09chain. When you give God the first,
- 9:11you're declaring he's your source, not
- 9:13your job,
- 9:15not your hustle. That keeps your heart
- 9:17free. But when God only ever gets your
- 9:19leftovers, if he gets anything at all,
- 9:22money quietly becomes the thing you
- 9:24actually worship. And a person who
- 9:26worships money can never have enough of
- 9:27it. So, decide what honoring God looks
- 9:30like off the top of your income and do
- 9:32it first before the lifestyle eats it.
- 9:36Give like he's the source, because he
- 9:38is.
- 9:39And this is almost number two now,
- 9:41because honoring God is where wisdom
- 9:43itself begins. Almost there. Because how
- 9:46you handle the first tells God whether
- 9:48he can trust you with the rest. Habit
- 9:51seven, he built to outlive himself.
- 9:55Here's the last habit before the big
- 9:57one, and it's the one that separates the
- 9:58merely rich from the truly blessed.
- 10:01Solomon understood something backwards
- 10:03from how most people think. Proverbs
- 10:0511:24-25,
- 10:08"There is that scattereth, and yet
- 10:09increaseth. And there is that
- 10:11withholdeth more than is meet, but it
- 10:13tendeth to poverty."
- 10:15"The liberal soul shall be made fat, and
- 10:17he that watereth shall be watered also
- 10:19himself." Read that slowly. The one who
- 10:22gives increases. The one who clutches
- 10:24everything ends up with less. Generosity
- 10:27isn't the enemy of wealth, it's part of
- 10:29the engine. And he thought past his own
- 10:31lifetime. Proverbs 13:22,
- 10:34"A good man leaveth an inheritance to
- 10:36his children's children."
- 10:38Not just his kids, his kids' kids. Two
- 10:41generations out. Here's the chain.
- 10:44A hand that's always closed can't
- 10:45receive anything new. It's full of what
- 10:48it's strangling.
- 10:49But an open hand gives and receives in
- 10:52the same motion.
- 10:53And a person who only builds for
- 10:55themselves builds something that dies
- 10:57when they die.
- 10:58A person who builds for the generations
- 11:00behind them builds something that
- 11:02outlives the grave. So, don't just earn
- 11:04to spend on yourself, give. It guards
- 11:07your heart and keeps the flow moving.
- 11:09And build something that doesn't stop at
- 11:11your funeral. Skills, assets, and wisdom
- 11:14you pass down. And giving like that
- 11:16wisely for generations takes the very
- 11:19thing I've been holding back this whole
- 11:20time. Because a rich man fills his own
- 11:23cup, a wise man fills his children's
- 11:25children's. Now, it's time.
- 11:27Number two. Habit two, he asked for
- 11:30wisdom and wealth came looking for him.
- 11:33This is the one I told you almost every
- 11:35believer gets backwards.
- 11:37Here it is.
- 11:38Early in his reign,
- 11:40before the gold, before the fleets,
- 11:42before any of it, God appeared to
- 11:44Solomon in a dream and said, "Ask what I
- 11:45shall give thee." Anything. A blank
- 11:48check from God.
- 11:49Think about what most of us would ask
- 11:51for. Money, a house, a breakthrough.
- 11:54Solomon asked for none of it. 1 Kings
- 11:563:9, he asked for an understanding heart
- 11:59wisdom to lead God's people well.
- 12:03And here's God's answer, verses 11
- 12:05through 13.
- 12:06"Because you asked for wisdom and not
- 12:08riches for yourself, I have given
- 12:09[snorts] thee a wise and an
- 12:10understanding heart.
- 12:12And I have also given thee that which
- 12:14thou has not asked, both riches and
- 12:16honor."
- 12:17Sit with that. He asked for wisdom.
- 12:19God gave him the wisdom, and then handed
- 12:22him the wealth he never even asked for.
- 12:24That's the secret running under all six
- 12:26habits you just heard. Diversifying your
- 12:28income takes wisdom to know where.
- 12:31Mastery takes wisdom to know what's
- 12:32worth mastering. Wise counsel is wisdom
- 12:35borrowed. Refusing the shortcut is
- 12:38wisdom applied to time.
- 12:40Honoring God first. Proverbs 9:10 says
- 12:43the fear of the Lord is the very
- 12:45beginning of wisdom. Building a legacy
- 12:47is wisdom that thinks past today. Every
- 12:50habit runs on this one. That's why the
- 12:52world gets it backwards. Everybody's
- 12:54chasing the money. Solomon chased the
- 12:56wisdom, and the money chased him.
- 12:59His own words, Proverbs 4:7, "Wisdom is
- 13:02the principal thing, therefore get
- 13:05wisdom. The principal thing. The first
- 13:07thing. Get that, and everything else
- 13:09finally has somewhere to land. So, stop
- 13:12praying only for the harvest. Start
- 13:14asking God for the wisdom to plant it,
- 13:16build it, and steward it, because wisdom
- 13:19is the soil, and wealth is just what
- 13:21grows in it. But, I'd be lying to you if
- 13:23I stopped there.
- 13:25Because there's a warning written into
- 13:26Solomon's life, and love won't let me
- 13:29skip it. The wisest, richest man who
- 13:32ever lived didn't finish well. First
- 13:35Kings 11 tells us that in his later
- 13:37years, Solomon's heart turned away from
- 13:39God.
- 13:40All that wealth, all that wisdom, and he
- 13:43still let it pull him from the very one
- 13:45who gave it. At the end of his life, he
- 13:48picked up a pen and wrote Ecclesiastes,
- 13:50and over and over he called it all
- 13:52vanity, vapor, breath, chasing the wind.
- 13:56The richest man in history looked back
- 13:58at everything he'd built and said,
- 14:00"Without God at the center, none of it
- 14:02satisfied." So, hear me. This was never
- 14:05really about becoming rich. It's about
- 14:07becoming the kind of person God can
- 14:08trust with wealth without losing your
- 14:10soul inside it.
- 14:12The habits build the money. The fear of
- 14:15God guards your heart while you carry
- 14:16it. This isn't a video to make you feel
- 14:19behind. It's a mirror. If you saw
- 14:21yourself in the gaps, the one stream,
- 14:23the shortcut, the closed hand, that's
- 14:26not condemnation. That's [clears throat]
- 14:27God showing you where he wants to meet
- 14:29you this week. So, don't try to change
- 14:32all seven at once. Pick one, just one,
- 14:35the one that stung, and start it this
- 14:37week, today if you can. If this fed you,
- 14:41comment the number of the habit you're
- 14:42starting with. I read them. Share it
- 14:44with someone who's been praying for a
- 14:46breakthrough, but has never heard it
- 14:47broken down like this.
- 14:49And if you want the word delivered with
- 14:51no fluff, just truth with a blade,
- 14:54subscribe to Bible Blade.
- 14:56We're building people God can trust. The
- 14:59blueprint was never hidden. Solomon left
- 15:01it in plain sight. Now, go and build,
- 15:04and keep your heart while you do.
