Skirt & Swimsuit Wrap | Crochet Tutorial — Transcript
Full transcript
- 0:00hello welcome back to or welcome to my
- 0:02channel I am so happy to have you here
- 0:04today and I have another tutorial to
- 0:05share with you it's another crochet
- 0:08tutorial this is a crochet skirt or
- 0:10swimsuit wrap with a beaded Fringe on
- 0:13the bottom which is of course optional
- 0:15and this project is especially great
- 0:16because once you get the pattern started
- 0:18the rest of it is completely mindless
- 0:20and you can watch TV while you make it
- 0:22which I know we all like to do so this
- 0:24is a great one for those like binge
- 0:25watching days and I'm going to show you
- 0:27how to get this started for this pattern
- 0:29I'll be using using a blue acrylic yarn
- 0:31and a 6 mm hook but you can use any size
- 0:34yarn or hook that you want to because
- 0:36the pattern is adjustable to your
- 0:38measurements so I'm going to start by
- 0:40making a slip
- 0:47knot and then we're going to begin by
- 0:49chaining
- 0:5110 and as you chain you can keep your
- 0:53tension pretty loose so that the project
- 0:55is more flowy at the end three four 5
- 1:00five
- 1:04six8 9 and 10 and then we're going to
- 1:08count eight stitches back so 1 2 3 4 5 6
- 1:137 8 right here in this eighth chain I'm
- 1:17going to put a single
- 1:20crochet making this little square here
- 1:23at the end I'm then going to chain
- 1:28five
- 1:35and then I'm going to count one two and
- 1:38on this second chain I'm going to insert
- 1:40my hook and do another single
- 1:45crochet so then we should have these two
- 1:47little Loops here so then I'm going to
- 1:49chain
- 1:58seven
- 2:00and turn my work so we have the two
- 2:02Loops to the left of the hook and then
- 2:04this chain here and I'm going to place a
- 2:06single crochet just right in the middle
- 2:08of this whole section
- 2:15here like
- 2:21so okay I'm then going to chain another
- 2:28five and place a single crochet in this
- 2:32next
- 2:33section we're only going to be
- 2:35crocheting into these blank spaces now
- 2:38never into the actual chains
- 2:41itself and then chain another
- 2:48five and single crochet into the exact
- 2:51same section as before so now we have a
- 2:55bit of an increase here and you'll see
- 2:57that there's three different loops on
- 3:00this row it's kind of hard to tell but
- 3:02as you go along it'll become more clear
- 3:04so there's two Loops in the bottom here
- 3:06and there's three loops on this top row
- 3:08so we're going to chain another
- 3:18seven turn the
- 3:20work single crochet into this first Loop
- 3:27here chain five
- 3:35single crochet into this next
- 3:39Loop chain
- 3:46five single crochet into the last
- 3:49section
- 3:51here
- 3:57oops chain five
- 4:02this yarn's sticky
- 4:07two and single crochet into the same
- 4:10section at the end so we're only ever
- 4:12doing increases in the very last section
- 4:15that way the increase doesn't happen too
- 4:17quickly and you don't lose the shape of
- 4:18your triangle so now we're going to
- 4:20chain another
- 4:28seven turn our work and single crochet
- 4:32into this first
- 4:34section and chain
- 4:40five single crochet into the next
- 4:45section chain
- 4:52five single crochet into the next
- 4:56section and now in this last section
- 4:59we're doing an increase so I'm going to
- 5:01chain five
- 5:05again single crochet into this last
- 5:10section chain
- 5:15five and single crochet into the same
- 5:21section so now as you can see there's a
- 5:24bit of an increase forming here every
- 5:26single row you get one extra section and
- 5:28so I'm going to change
- 5:38seven and that is essentially the entire
- 5:41pattern you just keep doing that all the
- 5:42way along single crochet into this
- 5:45section chain
- 5:50five single crochet into the next
- 5:54section chain
- 5:58five
- 6:00single crochet into the next section
- 6:03chain
- 6:07five single crochet into the next
- 6:11section chain
- 6:15five and then do an increase in the very
- 6:18last section by putting a single
- 6:23crochet come on there we go chaining
- 6:28five
- 6:31and placing another single crochet into
- 6:33the same
- 6:34section chain
- 6:42seven turn your work just continue this
- 6:45same process of chaining five and single
- 6:48crocheting into each section here with
- 6:50an increase in the very last section and
- 6:52you're going to continue doing this it's
- 6:54slowly going to form a triangle which
- 6:56you will eventually be able to tie
- 6:57around your waist once you have
- 6:59crocheted enough rows that it fits
- 7:00around your waist and you can tie it
- 7:02secure then you can add the beaded
- 7:04tassels or just normal tassels they're
- 7:06both kind of the same so I'll just show
- 7:08you the beaded tassel process uh you can
- 7:10also just stop here and not add the
- 7:12tassels but the beads are fun so you're
- 7:15going to need a bunch of pony beads for
- 7:17this or you can do like funky beads like
- 7:20I don't know this lion for example the
- 7:22opening just has to be big enough to fit
- 7:24the yarn through is the only thing so
- 7:26like this fish that's fine uh some of
- 7:29these are are a bit too small so pony
- 7:31beads or things with wide openings is
- 7:32the best I'm going to be doing a mixture
- 7:35of pale blue and white pony beads on
- 7:37this one I'm going to start by cutting
- 7:39the yarn to the length of the tassel and
- 7:41I'm going to be folding it over so you
- 7:42can take that into account when you're
- 7:44measuring your own tassel length and you
- 7:46can really decide how long you want this
- 7:47to be but I ended up doing 9 in for my
- 7:50last piece and I'm going to be doing
- 7:51that again and then fold it over it'll
- 7:54be about 4 and 1/2 in I'm then going to
- 7:56use this cut yarn to measure out a few
- 7:59more
- 8:06tassels okay now I've got a nice little
- 8:09pile of Tassels here so I'm just going
- 8:10to pull one onto the stack and thread it
- 8:13through this darning
- 8:15needle making sure the ends are lined up
- 8:17before I do
- 8:20that and I'm threading it through in the
- 8:22folded side so once I pull it through I
- 8:24have two bits of yarn here on this side
- 8:26and a loop on the other side and then
- 8:28I'm going to pick up the beads that I
- 8:30want on this tassel so I'm going to do
- 8:32this pale blue and this darker blue and
- 8:36then I'll top it with another pale blue
- 8:38and I'm going to pull that onto the
- 8:44tassel and then pull it out of the
- 8:46needle so now I've got three beads here
- 8:49on my tassel with the loop on one end
- 8:52and then we can attach it to the wrap I
- 8:55still don't know what to call that is it
- 8:56a wrap is it a a skirt
- 9:00bandana like I don't know what it's
- 9:01called but regardless I'm going to bring
- 9:03in the project and I'm going to be
- 9:06attaching tassels onto both of these
- 9:09sides here at the bottom of the wrap and
- 9:11then this top bit here there will be no
- 9:14tassels I think it is something to do
- 9:15with this blue yarn that's making my
- 9:17camera so orange I don't get it but
- 9:19anyways I'm going to just pick one of
- 9:21these Loops here on the edge and I'm
- 9:23going to be putting a tassel into every
- 9:25single Loop along the edge here you can
- 9:27kind of decide for yourself how many
- 9:28tassels you want
- 9:29and I'm pulling the looped end of the
- 9:31tassel through this section I'm going to
- 9:34take the tail and thread it through the
- 9:39loop and then I'm making sure all the
- 9:42beads are on the outside of the loop
- 9:44here and I'm going to pull it really
- 9:45really tight cuz you don't want this to
- 9:46come undone
- 9:50later and it's that easy so now this is
- 9:53securely attached to this section and
- 9:55I'm just going to secure the beads by
- 9:57tying a knot or two at the very bottom
- 9:59of the
- 10:08tassel and then if you didn't want the
- 10:10beads and you wanted just a loose tassel
- 10:13then you wouldn't put the beads on
- 10:14beforehand and you wouldn't tie the
- 10:16knots at the bottom therefore you can
- 10:17just have like a loose yarn tassel but
- 10:20here it is with the beads and now I'm
- 10:22going to go ahead and build some more
- 10:24tassels I like to kind of alternate the
- 10:26beads I'm using to give it more
- 10:28character but you can do the same same
- 10:29beads every single time it's really up
- 10:31to you and your personal preference this
- 10:33time I'm going to do a white bead and
- 10:35then this darker
- 10:37blue slide it
- 10:40on attach it to the next Loop
- 10:46here making sure these ends are lined up
- 10:49I'm pulling it through and pulling it
- 10:53very tight and then tying a knot at the
- 10:56very
- 10:58bottom
- 11:05here are our two cute little tassels and
- 11:08I'm just going to continue to do the
- 11:09same thing along both edges of the
- 11:11project and I'll see you when it's done
- 11:13I have now added in all of the bead
- 11:15tassels and I also wo in the Loose Ends
- 11:18so this is the completed skirt wrap I
- 11:21saw someone say it was called a hip
- 11:23scarf I've never heard that before so
- 11:25we'll see what I end up calling it but I
- 11:27really like how it turned out with this
- 11:28blue yarn with the variant it reminds me
- 11:30of an ocean it's absolutely stunning
- 11:33this is such an easy pattern to make and
- 11:35I feel like it's going to be an absolute
- 11:36staple in my summer wardrobe so
- 11:39hopefully you like the way yours turned
- 11:40out and if you enjoyed this video please
- 11:42give it a like and also subscribe to my
- 11:44channel I really appreciate you for
- 11:46being here and for all of your
- 11:47continuous support thank you so much
- 11:49I'll see you again in a few days
