- 0:00In this tutorial, you'll learn how to
- 0:01turn an exported sitemap from Topo
- 0:03Export into a polished presentation
- 0:06sheet using Rayon Design in under 10
- 0:08minutes. Links to try both tools for
- 0:10free are available in the description.
- 0:12So, let's get started.
- 0:16In the previous tutorial, we learned how
- 0:18to quickly and easily export a sitemap
- 0:20from top export and bring it into Rayon
- 0:22design for editing and stylizing. Now,
- 0:24let's set it up for presentation. Having
- 0:26got the site plan into rayon and now
- 0:29refine the aesthetic. I want to place it
- 0:32on a sheet. So let me talk to you about
- 0:34that. So so the site plan is currently
- 0:35in the model canvas. So you can see
- 0:37there model canvas. I want to create a
- 0:39paper canvas. So this is how you set up
- 0:41a sheet. So paper canvas it will say
- 0:43your paper canvas doesn't contain any
- 0:45pages. So we can create a page. I can
- 0:47say that's an A4. I could say that's
- 0:49portrait or landscape. And this piece of
- 0:51paper will be one one. So this is
- 0:53drawing at full scale. Just like in your
- 0:55model canvas you're drawing on one to
- 0:57one. So next step is to look in the
- 0:59rayon block library. So I'm a big fan of
- 1:02the rayon block library. It has a
- 1:04variety of so many different blocks. So
- 1:07over 10,000 top front and side views of
- 1:11different blocks. So things from
- 1:13animals, bathrooms, bathtubs, chairs,
- 1:16dentist office equipment, heating,
- 1:18cooling, gym, anything you could want
- 1:21exists in the block library. So, take
- 1:24this double bed for example. I can just
- 1:26drag that in and I can look at the
- 1:29different views I've got. So, I've
- 1:31[music] got a front view, a side
- 1:32viewing, a side view, and a top view.
- 1:35So, I know when I'm creating my plan
- 1:37section and elevations, that element is
- 1:39matching spot on. But in this instance,
- 1:42I want to have a look at the title
- 1:43block. So, alongside all different
- 1:44things about furniture, they also have
- 1:46elements of annotation um and title
- 1:49sheets. So, let's scroll down to uh
- 1:51title sheets, title blocks, and
- 1:53annotations. There we go. And I can find
- 1:55A3 title block here. If I couldn't find
- 1:58it, I could use the search function. So,
- 2:00I could say A3 title, for example. Drag
- 2:05one of these in. The really helpful
- 2:06thing is that I can edit these blocks
- 2:08myself as well. So, I could go in, I
- 2:10could, you know, you see here it's got a
- 2:12pre-populated element. So, I could go
- 2:13in, I could change the logo for my own
- 2:16business. I can adapt the sheet as I
- 2:18want and I can resave that as a block or
- 2:20share it to my own company. So once
- 2:22that's set up, I can now find a view. So
- 2:25from layers, I go to view which is here
- 2:28and I get a view from my m my model
- 2:30canvas. So I'm basically taking a look
- 2:32at my model canvas at a certain size. So
- 2:35you see here it adds in a window and I
- 2:38can set a scale. So So we want 25,500
- 2:42for example. So that sets my building.
- 2:46So I could then crop this view. So I can
- 2:49crop my window down a closer up view
- 2:52there. And then maybe I can create a
- 2:55another view at a much smaller scale
- 2:58here for example and call this 1 to
- 3:0110,000
- 3:02for example. Get that cropped nicely.
- 3:04[music]
- 3:05You can see there got our different
- 3:07drawing types. You can also see that the
- 3:09line types scale with the view. I can go
- 3:11into different layers and find things
- 3:13though. So say for example for that view
- 3:14that solid line looked a bit too much. I
- 3:17can turn that off. With the drawing
- 3:18looking good I can go in and I can edit
- 3:21the title block for example. So I could
- 3:22delete these elements and I could import
- 3:25for example um my standard logo. So
- 3:29that's just a PNG with a transparent
- 3:31[music] background and bring that in and
- 3:33scale it. And then that sits as part of
- 3:35that block family that I can reuse
- 3:37again. I can even add parameters to the
- 3:40sheet. So you can see down here I could
- 3:42add a parameter that allows me to have a
- 3:45different drawing sheet number. For
- 3:46example, I could have some text that
- 3:48says drawing sheet. And then I could say
- 3:52we're going to add a instance property
- 3:55over here. Create a new one. So we call
- 3:57that drawing number. Set that to a
- 4:01number value. Save that. Go back into my
- 4:04block. I can delete this text and I can
- 4:07add a variable. I can add a variable. Go
- 4:10to instance, find my drawing number.
- 4:13There we go. Press okay. And that means
- 4:15that when I go into this bar on the
- 4:18side, I can change my drawing number and
- 4:20say 1 2 3 4 5 and that will update on my
- 4:23drawing sheet. And that means that when
- 4:25I reuse that title sheet again and
- 4:26again, I just need to fill in that
- 4:28instance property on the right hand
- 4:30side. Perfect. The other thing I want to
- 4:32show you is that Rayon comes with a
- 4:34whole host of templates. So if I go back
- 4:37to my account, I can jump down here to
- 4:39templates. You can see here that it has
- 4:41so many different types of drawings
- 4:43already set up. So from detailed
- 4:45elements like milwork drawings to floor
- 4:47plans for different types of buildings
- 4:49and technical plans. So what I find
- 4:52today is their site analysis symbol. So
- 4:55I'll bring [music] those in and I'll
- 4:57just scale them up and see them there.
- 4:59And we have things from being able to
- 5:01identify different transport links,
- 5:03different elements of facilities, park
- 5:06elements, uh, north points, different
- 5:09arrows, prevailing wind direction, sun
- 5:12paths, all the different things that
- 5:13[music] you might need when analyzing a
- 5:15site. So, we can very quickly just drag
- 5:18and drop these things onto our page. Can
- 5:21add a prevailing wind direction here.
- 5:25Maybe some transport link icons as well.
- 5:29And as long as we make sure that these
- 5:31are all on our top layer, when we go
- 5:34back to [music] our drawing set, I can
- 5:36make sure that then turned off in this
- 5:39view so it doesn't muddy up our sort of
- 5:41site location drawing but is shown on
- 5:43our more detailed plan. You know, if we
- 5:44wanted to, we could even add in a new
- 5:47view of the model canvas that
- 5:49specifically looks at this window
- 5:52and acts as a bit of a key for your
- 5:54drawing set. And then we can just add
- 5:56[music] titles to each of the drawings.
- 5:58So we could say this is a site vacation
- 6:01plan 1 to 10,000.
- 6:04And just like with all the other styles,
- 6:06I could, you know, change my text style,
- 6:09I can change the font, I can change the
- 6:12size, any element like that. And I could
- 6:15save that as titles for example. And
- 6:19that means that whenever I go back in, I
- 6:21know that each of these things matches.
- 6:24So now let's export the drawing. So we
- 6:27can export the drawing in multiple
- 6:28different ways. So one is the
- 6:30traditional export. [music] So we can
- 6:31export an image. So that could just be a
- 6:34as a PNG. So I can determine the quality
- 6:37and the stroke scale. So whether we're
- 6:39looking at the page or the screen, I
- 6:40would advise the page. Um and then give
- 6:42that a name. Alternatively, I can export
- 6:45it as a PDF. So again, I just set that
- 6:48to PDF. I can change the resolution. So
- 6:50high, medium, or low. Export the name
- 6:52and then again choose whether it's page
- 6:54or screen. But the really powerful thing
- 6:56in Rayon is to share the presentation.
- 6:58So I can go into share and I can do a
- 7:00number of things. So I can share my
- 7:02styles. So all those styles that I've
- 7:04set up, I can share those with the rest
- 7:06of my team. Um I could share my blocks.
- 7:08So publish those blocks that um again
- 7:10that I've set up like my title block for
- 7:12example, I can publish that and share
- 7:14that with the rest of my team. Or I can
- 7:15share a presentation. That's really
- 7:17really powerful. So I will publish this
- 7:20sheet as a presentation. So I just click
- 7:22on that toggle that gives me a link and
- 7:24I can copy that. So I can send that in
- 7:26an email to a client. So ultimately that
- 7:29avoids all those things like having to
- 7:31export your PDF, upload it to a file
- 7:33transfer site, send the link. So all in
- 7:36here and you just need to send that link
- 7:38and I can open it directly from Rayon.
- 7:40So again that just gives me a
- 7:41presentation ready looking drawing
- 7:44that's all within the browser. And
- 7:46[music] the really really powerful thing
- 7:48is if I go back and I say, "Oh,
- 7:50actually, not sure about that one. Let's
- 7:53move the key title over here." I've now
- 7:56updated that drawing, but I don't have
- 7:58to give another link. All I have to do
- 8:00is press this little update button and
- 8:03press update. The link remains the same,
- 8:05but the information on the link has been
- 8:07updated. So, if you're giving links to
- 8:10your clients, they only need to look at
- 8:11those one um links, not have to mess
- 8:13about between lots of different things.
- 8:16There we go. Thanks so much for
- 8:17watching. Try the workflow yourself
- 8:19using the links below and start turning
- 8:20your maps into polished presentations.
- 8:23If this was helpful, give it a like and
