  1. 0:00Simon, why do you think coaching is
  2. 0:02important?
  3. 0:03Coaching is one of those things that I
  4. 0:05think we don't realize that we all need.
  5. 0:08And when you think about it, the best
  6. 0:09athletes in the world, no matter how
  7. 0:10good they are, they all have a coach.
  8. 0:12Some of the most powerful senior
  9. 0:13executives in the biggest companies,
  10. 0:15they all have a coach. And yet for some
  11. 0:17reason, the rest of us either have
  12. 0:18forgotten or don't think we need it. A
  13. 0:21coach, at least in my career, like
  14. 0:23because I've used coaches before, a
  15. 0:25coach is somebody who they're there to
  16. 0:27support you. They don't have any
  17. 0:28politics, they don't have any stakes in
  18. 0:30your career. They can't put in a good
  19. 0:31word for you at the office. You know,
  20. 0:33they're there strictly for you. And I
  21. 0:37think most people don't realize
  22. 0:39that coaching is actually a proper
  23. 0:41skill, it's a profession. It's not just
  24. 0:44like some friend who gives you some
  25. 0:45advice, right? That there are techniques
  26. 0:47to help us think through problems, to
  27. 0:49see things that we don't see, to
  28. 0:50understand our own blind spots, and
  29. 0:52quite frankly, to take accountability
  30. 0:53when when we need to. I'm a great
  31. 0:55believer in in the concept of coaching.
