- 0:00Allow me to tell you a tale of Mullah
- 0:02Nasruddin, the seeming village idiot
- 0:05who's actually the wise fool. This story
- 0:07has a phrase in it that I think about
- 0:09almost every single day. One day, Mullah
- 0:11Nasruddin takes a bowl of yogurt down to
- 0:14the sea and spoonful by spoonful, he
- 0:17starts stirring the yogurt into the
- 0:19water. Someone walks by and he goes,
- 0:22"Mullah, what are you doing?" Mullah
- 0:24turns around and answers, "I'm making
- 0:26doogh." So, if you don't know, doogh is
- 0:29a very popular drink for Iranians. It's
- 0:31made of yogurt and water. So, the
- 0:34passerby says, "That's never going to
- 0:36work. You just have a bowl of yogurt and
- 0:38look how vast the sea is." And Mullah
- 0:41turns around and he says,
- 0:43"I know it won't work, but
- 0:45agar beshe, chi mishe?" And this
- 0:49translates as, "Agar beshe,
- 0:51if it does work,
- 0:53chi mishe?" Meaning,
- 0:56"Think of what could be." So again, I
- 0:58think about this phrase all the time,
- 1:00especially with my kids. Sometimes they
- 1:02have ideas that seem so out there and
- 1:05wild and impossible, but I have to
- 1:07remember, it's about the possibilities,
- 1:09it's about the dream. And maybe this
- 1:11applies to you because you've told
- 1:13yourself you can never learn Persian.
- 1:15There aren't enough resources, you don't
- 1:17have the time, it's just too hard. But,
- 1:20come stir yogurt with us. We have a free
- 1:23six-week-long learn Persian boot camp
