2. 0:16welcome to unveiling Islam uh I'm here
3. 0:21with brother Rasheed and one of the most
4. 0:25common questions I get from Christians
5. 0:28who are sort of enter ing
6. 0:31into uh this area area areas dealing
7. 0:34with Islam I get a question hey you know
8. 0:38I have a a heart for reaching Muslims or
9. 0:42sometimes from people who aren't really
10. 0:43dealing with Islam but they're wondering
11. 0:46like as a Christian in the modern world
12. 0:49should I be studying the Quran so I'd
13. 0:52like your perspective on this uh should
14. 0:54Christians be studying this book well it
15. 1:00depends but um in general if you are
16. 1:04going to be involved in any discussion
17. 1:07with any Muslim you have to be prepared
18. 1:11because um the Quran talks about
19. 1:13Christianity mentions Jesus mentions uh
20. 1:17the main Christian doctrines and you
21. 1:20have to be prepared to questions um
22. 1:24another thing Muslims are so
23. 1:28outgoing about conver conning others to
24. 1:30their
25. 1:32religion and we see them active
26. 1:34everywhere in uh schools universities on
27. 1:39the internet everywhere so you have to
28. 1:42have certain knowledge now now probably
29. 1:45one and four persons is a
30. 1:49Muslim so one day or another you are
31. 1:52going to see a Muslim you are going to
32. 1:54get into a discussion with with him or
33. 1:57her so at least some Basics about Islam
34. 2:01are very necessary yeah if it's a I have
35. 2:04kind of mixed feelings because if like a
36. 2:07if a Christian were to say hey should I
37. 2:08study the Quran my natural reaction you
38. 2:10should be studying the Bible and there
39. 2:12there there are so many things that you
40. 2:14would want to know as far as like you
41. 2:15know uh understanding the Bible and
42. 2:17apologetics and so on um so normally I
43. 2:21would think okay if you're a Christian
44. 2:23who's going to be interacting with
45. 2:25Muslims then you should know this but it
46. 2:26does seem like we're at a point in
47. 2:28history where it it needs to become
48. 2:30common knowledge like like Muslims are
49. 2:33raised and they understand how to raise
50. 2:36questions to Christians and if the
51. 2:37Christians have no idea what those
52. 2:38questions are going to be or or what
53. 2:41what uh where Muslims are getting these
54. 2:43questions from and why these questions
55. 2:44are arising then they're just unprepared
56. 2:47and so it's like it seems like there
57. 2:50there should be some sort of common
58. 2:52knowledge and Christians do need to
59. 2:54familiarize themselves uh with these
60. 2:56issues otherwise it's you know Muslim
61. 2:58preachers take advantage of people's
62. 3:00ignorance right when you don't know it
63. 3:02allows them to step in and say whatever
64. 3:03they want about Islam um I had I had
65. 3:06many um instances where people came to
66. 3:10me about their kids being exposed to
67. 3:13Islam at school or certain places and
68. 3:16they had no clue how to answer their
69. 3:18kids and so many times they tell me I'm
70. 3:21confused I didn't know that Islam
71. 3:23believes in Jesus I didn't know that
72. 3:26Islam talks about Mary I didn't know
73. 3:29that Islam believes in this and that and
74. 3:31I be like that's very it's obvious but
75. 3:36they say for you but not for us well you
76. 3:38should have at least familiar yourself
77. 3:41with certain doctrines so you can answer
78. 3:43and certain times um they they have even
79. 3:46a clue how to answer some basic
80. 3:48questions Muslims come up with these um
81. 3:52famous questions that they got from d
82. 3:55and and zachar and everybody and they
83. 3:57just say them everywhere and chrans are
84. 4:00not aware of them oh H how come you
85. 4:02worship a God who goes to the bathroom
86. 4:04and then the Christian is like oh my
87. 4:05goodness I never heard this question and
88. 4:07they they just lose ground and if they
89. 4:10are familiar they will answer it like
90. 4:13this without any problems yeah and uh
91. 4:16that's a sad situation because there are
92. 4:19people who don't want to study Islam
93. 4:22because they think it's so much and you
94. 4:24could understand why you think oh you
95. 4:26know well they've got the Quran and then
96. 4:28they've got all these other books and
97. 4:29how am I going to learn all of this and
98. 4:31Muslims are going to have all these
99. 4:32hundreds of objections that I've never
100. 4:34heard before and it's not it's like five
101. 4:36or six objections that they keep using
102. 4:38so I can I can say right here exactly
103. 4:41what a muslim's going to bring we're
104. 4:42going to deal with them in the these
105. 4:43Series yeah it's going to be it's going
106. 4:44to be your Bible's been corrupted uh if
107. 4:47Jesus Is God how could he die uh where
108. 4:49did Jesus say I'm God worship we know we
109. 4:52know the thing we know exactly what they
110. 4:54which is amazing because if you know the
111. 4:57objections that people are going to
112. 4:58bring up ahead of time why in the name
113. 5:00of Common Sense would you not make sure
114. 5:03Christians are prepared you don't have
115. 5:04to be a scholar like you don't have to
116. 5:07know every detail about Islam but at
117. 5:10least some some Basics um because we
118. 5:14know exactly what the Quran says about
119. 5:17Christ so you can pick those things and
120. 5:19be prepared to answer them and you would
121. 5:21not be U surprised or taken by surprise
122. 5:24whenever a Muslim is uh taking or
123. 5:26leading a discussion and that's uh what
124. 5:29you touched on there at least knowing
125. 5:31the basics and the specifics that are
126. 5:33going to be relevant to a discussion
127. 5:35because when someone when a Christian
128. 5:38says hey should I study the Quran so
129. 5:41I'll get a message David uh I want to
130. 5:43know if I should be if I should be
131. 5:44studying the Quran
132. 5:47and I usually say no if you just mean
133. 5:51reading just sitting down to read it
134. 5:53through and thinking that you're going
135. 5:55to learn it like that that doesn't seem
136. 5:57like a very good idea because like this
137. 6:00is a hard book to read if you're
138. 6:02starting off I'm worried that people
139. 6:04will give up right like give up they're
140. 6:07going to give up halfway through Surah 2
141. 6:09say this is too this is too hard I I
142. 6:11think someone said um if the Quran was
143. 6:14the word of God it was dictated in a bad
144. 6:16day but anyway like you you get confused
145. 6:20I I I agree with you but you can get a
146. 6:23summary yeah you can get um you can
147. 6:25follow channels like this for example
148. 6:28and and watch certain topics and pick
149. 6:30them now it's easy on YouTube on
150. 6:33everywhere you can get like a a good
151. 6:36idea about a book and we can summarize
152. 6:38the Quran we can we are going to talk
153. 6:41this series about the Quran on different
154. 6:43topics and we're going to cover all of
155. 6:45them so it's going to be easy yeah so if
156. 6:49if a if a Christian is is asking um hey
157. 6:52should I study the
158. 6:54Quran uh if you're going to be
159. 6:57interacting with Muslims or even if you
160. 6:58want to
161. 7:00if you think you might eventually be
162. 7:02interacting with Muslims and I don't
163. 7:04know how you're going to avoid that in
164. 7:05the world you know there used to be the
165. 7:06Christian world over here the Muslim
166. 7:08world over here now uh millions of
167. 7:11Muslims have come to the west and we've
168. 7:12got the internet now so now we can
169. 7:15interact with Muslims even in Muslim
170. 7:16countries who are previously isolated
171. 7:19from hearing any any alternative to
172. 7:22Islam so we're in this awesome position
173. 7:24in history uh my only advice to
174. 7:26Christians would be unless you have a
175. 7:28really really really great attention
176. 7:31span and you're good at if you when you
177. 7:34were in school if your teacher said read
178. 7:36this difficult chapter and you were able
179. 7:37to do it and focus and get all your
180. 7:39homework done I would say study it
181. 7:42topically yeah versus just sitting down
182. 7:44and reading the Quran unless unless you
183. 7:46absolutely know that you are going to
184. 7:48stick with it through all of this uh I'm
185. 7:50just I I do have this concern that
186. 7:52Christians think ah in order to interact
187. 7:54with Islam I have to sit down and read
188. 7:56this book and they're going to start
189. 7:57reading and give up let me tell you I
190. 7:59grew up my dad was my teacher I grew up
191. 8:03in a mosque we had to memorize it it we
192. 8:06know Arabic we know the the the language
193. 8:09we know everything it was so boring for
194. 8:12us it was so boring so it's not an easy
195. 8:15book that's people who believe in it
196. 8:16exactly so but as I said with what's
197. 8:20happening with the internet with YouTube
198. 8:22with all these things people can
199. 8:24summarize things and make them easy to
200. 8:27digest for um even average person MH so
201. 8:31I I would say that Christians in general
202. 8:34need to know how to give a defense of
203. 8:37their beliefs that's a command that's a
204. 8:39command that's a command in scripture uh
205. 8:42understanding the times that we're in
206. 8:44even if you're not going to sit down and
207. 8:45read through the entire Quran at least
208. 8:48know respon basic responses to the the
209. 8:52kinds of questions that are going to
210. 8:53come up over and over and over again I
211. 8:55would say if you want to study the study
212. 8:57the Quran study it topically at first as
213. 8:59you're mentioning like pick a pick a top
214. 9:01you can you can go to an index look up
215. 9:02every passage about Jesus or look up
216. 9:04everything the Quran says about the
217. 9:05Bible or or some topic that you're
218. 9:07interested in and you know then if
219. 9:09you're really really dedicated then you
220. 9:12might want to then you might want to sit
221. 9:13down and and read read the entire Quran
222. 9:16yeah but the Apostle Paul uh when he
223. 9:18wanted to um go to the Greeks he he was
224. 9:21quoting from their books he quoted their
225. 9:23scripture he was quoting their poets to
226. 9:25them so if you are going to talk to
227. 9:26Muslims you have to know certain basics
228. 9:28in the Quran yeah and so these are uh
229. 9:31again these are these are some awesome
230. 9:34times that we're in right now um with
231. 9:37technology with the ability to wherever
232. 9:40you're at on your laptop or on your
233. 9:42phone be able to communicate with
234. 9:44Muslims around the world and you can
235. 9:48chat with them on Twitter uh you can you
236. 9:51can talk to them you can ask them
237. 9:53questions it's not it's not as hard as
238. 9:56you said as before a missionary has to
239. 9:58go l the language spent years in Morocco
240. 10:01for example just to interact with
241. 10:03Moroccans now you can interact with any
242. 10:05person in the world if you know some
243. 10:07Basics you can have a good discussion
244. 10:10yeah and um it's a it is some tough work
245. 10:15if you want to the more dedicated you
246. 10:16want to be the you mentioned that it's
247. 10:18boring um but there there are reasons to
248. 10:21Anthony flu is the uh 20th century uh
249. 10:24main atheist philosopher who was dealing
250. 10:27with Christianity he eventually became a
251. 10:29kind of theist and he was asked hey do
252. 10:31you think you'll convert to Christianity
253. 10:32or Islam and he said no but he was asked
254. 10:34to compare them and so one of the
255. 10:36comparisons he made he said look the
256. 10:38Bible whatever your perspective even if
257. 10:40you're an atheist is an amazing word
258. 10:42work of literature goes to read the
259. 10:44Quran is to do Penance exactly that's
260. 10:46where you punish yourself for your sins
261. 10:48uh so that that was his perspective and
262. 10:50so but here's the thing it's worth it I
263. 10:52mean 14 centuries of Christians could
264. 10:55not have dreamed of the opportunities we
265. 10:57have right now your sins will be
266. 10:59forgiven if you go through this you can
267. 11:00do it if you can make if you can make it
268. 11:02through it sounds like sounds like a
269. 11:04deal that someone someone would make uh
270. 11:06so again yeah 14th centuries of
271. 11:08Christians ladies and gentlemen could
272. 11:09not have dreamed of the opportunities we
273. 11:10have right now and so I look at the the
274. 11:13situation and that you Christians now
275. 11:16have the ability to speak to Muslims
276. 11:18around the world even you know down the
277. 11:20street and so we do not want to stand
278. 11:23before the
279. 11:24almighty um to give an account of what
280. 11:26we did with our time when we were given
281. 11:28every everything we everything we could
282. 11:31possibly dream of yeah to share the
283. 11:33gospel with Muslims and to expose the
284. 11:35the the false things they believe in we
285. 11:37do not want to stand before the the
286. 11:39almighty and not have used that great
287. 11:41opportunity so that's why here we're
288. 11:43here we're going to help you get through
289. 11:44this and learn this material and we
290. 11:47guarantee you're going to have some
291. 11:48awesome awesome engagements with your
292. 11:52Muslim friends
