- 0:00let's bring in from Emeral Texas right
- 0:01now Jeff Blackburn the attorney for
- 0:03Anthony graves Mr Blackburn good
- 0:05morning morning so where do things stand
- 0:08right now this seems pretty cut and dry
- 0:10to the average
- 0:12viewer well the I think it's cut and dry
- 0:14to anybody and the problem that we've
- 0:16got is that the Attorney General who's
- 0:19now the only person in the state that
- 0:21can say Anthony is truly innocent just
- 0:24won't do that and won't agree to it why
- 0:27is that though why is the Texas AG
- 0:29holding up this compensation if if I we
- 0:32heard him say there is no tie to Mr
- 0:34Graves and the commission of this crime
- 0:37so wherein lies the problem
- 0:40here well you know if you're from
- 0:42outside Texas it makes no sense at all
- 0:44but if you're from inside Texas it makes
- 0:46perfect sense we are a state that is
- 0:49very addicted to uh conviction and we're
- 0:54you know as a state we are generally at
- 0:58least a lot of the politicians here are
- 1:00uh I just can't get over the idea of
- 1:03locking people up and keeping them
- 1:05locked up the Attorney General in this
- 1:07case Mr Abbot was had an office that was
- 1:11directly involved in trying to to kill
- 1:13Anthony in trying to uh uh keep this
- 1:17case going for a lot longer than it ever
- 1:19should have been and now he just can't
- 1:21come out and say he was wrong that's all
- 1:23it comes down to is this basically what
- 1:25you're saying is a number of authorities
- 1:27in in Houston Texas or in the state of
- 1:30Texas basically just don't want want to
- 1:31admit that they screwed this
- 1:34up uh that's pretty much it we had a
- 1:37good corageous prosecutor who finally
- 1:39stood up and did the right thing uh as
- 1:42you pointed out earlier there was a a a
- 1:45technical language problem but that
- 1:46language problem can be fixed and we
- 1:48filed a lawsuit to get it fixed the
- 1:51problem right now is the attorney
- 1:52general just won't do the right thing
- 1:55and just can't get over to the idea of
- 1:57saying Anthony Graves is an innocent man
- 1:59that would mean he was wrong in aiding
- 2:02those local prosecutors in his
- 2:04prosecution to begin with do you think
- 2:05that this matter is going to get settled
- 2:07will Mr Graves do you think he's ever
- 2:08going to get is he going to get the
- 2:09money owed him or even a
- 2:13dollar we're going to win absolutely one
- 2:16way or another I mean if we have to
- 2:18we'll be able to we'll keep filing
- 2:20lawsuits and we'll keep fighting this
- 2:21case forever I've been part of Anthony's
- 2:23legal team for years and these lawyers
- 2:26are not going to give up we're not going
- 2:28to back off and eventually we'll win but
- 2:32in the meantime we've got a very sad
- 2:34example of exactly how broken sometimes
- 2:38a criminal justice system can be when
- 2:40people just won't admit that they've
- 2:42done wrong Jeff Blackburn we thank you
- 2:44for taking the time this morning and I'm
- 2:45eara Texas thank
- 2:51you
