  1. 0:00let's bring in from emiro Texas right
  2. 0:01now Jeff Blackburn the attorney for
  3. 0:03Anthony graves Mr Blackburn good
  4. 0:05morning morning so where do things stand
  5. 0:08right now this seems pretty cut and dry
  6. 0:10to the average
  7. 0:12viewer well the I think it's cut and dry
  8. 0:14to anybody and the problem that we've
  9. 0:16got is that the Attorney General who's
  10. 0:19now the only person in the state that
  11. 0:21can say Anthony is truly innocent just
  12. 0:24won't do that and won't agree to it why
  13. 0:27is that though why is the Texas AG
  14. 0:29holding up this compensation if if I we
  15. 0:32heard him say there is no tie to Mr
  16. 0:34Graves and the commission of this crime
  17. 0:37so wherein lies the problem
  18. 0:40here well you know if you're from
  19. 0:42outside Texas it makes no sense at all
  20. 0:44but if you're from inside Texas it makes
  21. 0:46perfect sense we are a state that is
  22. 0:49very addicted to uh conviction and we're
  23. 0:54you know as a state we are generally at
  24. 0:58least a lot of the politicians here are
  25. 1:00uh just can't get over the idea of
  26. 1:03locking people up and keeping them
  27. 1:05locked up the Attorney General in this
  28. 1:07case Mr Abbot was had an office that was
  29. 1:11directly involved in trying to to kill
  30. 1:13Anthony in trying to uh uh keep this
  31. 1:17case going for a lot longer than it ever
  32. 1:19should have been and now he just can't
  33. 1:21come out and say he was wrong that's all
  34. 1:23it comes down to is this basically what
  35. 1:25you're saying is a number of authorities
  36. 1:27in in Houston Texas or in the state of
  37. 1:30Texas basically just don't want want to
  38. 1:31admit that they screwed this
  39. 1:34up uh that's pretty much it we had a
  40. 1:37good corageous prosecutor who finally
  41. 1:39stood up and did the right thing uh as
  42. 1:42you pointed out earlier there was a a a
  43. 1:44technical language problem but that
  44. 1:46language problem can be fixed and we
  45. 1:48filed a lawsuit to get it fixed the
  46. 1:51problem right now is the attorney
  47. 1:52general just won't do the right thing
  48. 1:55and just can't get over to the idea of
  49. 1:57saying Anthony Graves is an innocent man
  50. 1:59that would mean he was wrong in aiding
  51. 2:02those local prosecutors in his
  52. 2:04prosecution to begin with do you think
  53. 2:05that this matter is going to get settled
  54. 2:07will Mr Graves do you think he's ever
  55. 2:08going to get is he going to get the
  56. 2:09money owed him or even a
  57. 2:13dollar we're going to win absolutely one
  58. 2:16way or another I mean if we have to
  59. 2:18we'll be able to we'll keep filing
  60. 2:20lawsuits and we'll keep fighting this
  61. 2:21case forever I've been part of Anthony's
  62. 2:23legal team for years and these lawyers
  63. 2:26are not going to give up we're not going
  64. 2:28to back off and eventually will'll win
  65. 2:31but in the meantime we've got a very sad
  66. 2:34example of exactly how broken sometimes
  67. 2:38a criminal justice system can be when
  68. 2:40people just won't admit that they've
  69. 2:42done wrong Jeff Blackburn we thank you
  70. 2:44for taking the time this morning and I'm
  71. 2:45eara Texas thank
  72. 2:51you
