0:45biggest competitor I think I'm a little
0:47bit better than her because I've won
0:49many awards than her that was over the
0:52top inappropriate for little girls I

1:33everything but it's clearly a different
1:35story when you get on a plane and fly
1:37across the country
1:39for years I took the kids by myself I
1:42made sure their hair was right I made
1:43sure the makeup was right I put the
1:45headpiece on all the mothers want to go
1:47now because they are reliving their
1:50childhood through all of you and that's
1:53when the trouble happens I am the leader
1:55I am the teacher you do what I say when
1:58your mother's telling you something else
2:00to do that becomes a conflict do you
2:02understand that now Nia how do you think
2:06you did
2:07well I think we could have improved what
2:10do you need to improve pointing might be
2:12yeah very sloppy the feet the legs the
2:16shoulders your arms
2:18same mistakes over and over and over and
2:22that pulls the group down
2:25yells at people a little bit too much
2:27but I think that's just because she
2:29wants them to be a better dancer and she
2:31really cares about us Chloe the headband

2:48Abby's terrifying to me she has a deep
2:50voice but she will be very afraid of

3:15it's going to step these kids up to the
3:16next level and we're going to see
3:19something from them we've never seen

3:22because you were great this weekend

3:40probably one of the best dancers in my

3:51solos and Chloe you will be doing one of

3:55Melissa does not like me because Chloe's
3:57Maddie's biggest competition she doesn't
3:58like that and to be honest I don't like

4:15Quest competition in Lancaster
4:17Pennsylvania and the girls are doing all
4:19new numbers sassy that's not skipping
4:24here we are sitting here like a bunch of
4:27jackasses
4:30and Maddie and Chloe go back
4:32and for the best damn best dancer in the
4:33group and Michael this season really is
4:35for Chloe to be Maddie so if she wants
4:37to be the best she has to be the best
4:39and Maddie's the best listen to me
4:42I do feel like I push her but it's my
4:45job as Chloe's mother to motivate her
4:47because I feel Chloe has star potential
4:53be like Maddie be like Maddie who's at
4:56the bottom of the pyramid Nia's at the
4:58bottom of the pyramid and it's not right
4:59Brooks at him at the pyramid
5:05Mackenzie well okay but but Mia stepped
5:10up and it's like pop yeah throw it out
5:13there do it again everyone else there
5:14was something wrong with what they did
5:16but Maddie had nothing wrong she was
5:17perfect that makes my kid feel bad I
5:19guess she's setting us up for another
5:21Maddie Chloe Showdown it'll be the same
5:23old same old you know Abby will be
5:24working with Maddie right before she
5:26goes on stage and it'll be me in the
5:27back hallway with my daughter because
5:29that's how it always is all the focus is
5:31on Maddie and then there's nothing left
5:33for anybody else right
5:40I don't care what the other moms think
5:42because my kid is the star and maybe
5:44Maddie's the favorite because she's the
5:46best and she follows the rules and she
5:48pays attention my goal for Maddie this
5:50season is to win Dancer Of The Year
5:52nationally Maddie has what it takes to
5:54be a star she has Drive she has
5:56determination and she's definitely a
5:58perfectionist I think she's the best
6:00dancer in our studio I don't think the
6:03other moms are jealous of me they're
6:05jealous of my daughter because she gets
6:07all the attention and she's front and
6:09center in a lot of the dances one two
6:12and two push pretty my mom is a
6:15brilliant dance teacher and I am
6:18continuing that Legacy when I was a
6:20young dance student I realized that my
6:22talents were better used for
6:24choreography and behind the scenes than
6:27on stage performing so I started my own
6:30company at the age of 14.
6:32you have to be really hot sexy I don't
6:35like that move Brook's doing that's way
6:37too sexy make it like you're 17 years
6:39old
6:40we're going to Lancaster this weekend
6:42for a competition called Star Quest we
6:46don't usually do star quests because
6:48Lancaster is not like a West Coast town
6:50so I don't know quite how Lancaster is
6:54going to react to
6:55The Stance
6:57one two three four I created a new
7:01number after being on the west coast in
7:03Phoenix the kids are dressed so skimpy
7:06and we're so hot and dynamic on stage
7:09that I wanted to do something similar
7:11this is way too much I I don't know how
7:13they keep up with it five six seven
7:15eight you set the tone for the whole
7:17dance Chloe
7:18to be amazing I don't care what anybody
7:20says
7:21it's my studio it's my company the
7:25children need a challenge they need
7:27something edgy I don't have my own
7:28children
7:29but I teach children from three years
7:33old to 18. I practically raise these
7:35kids and then I send them off to be
7:37professional dancers
7:38there's a quote that I know that I often
7:41use and the best parenting
7:43that a parent can do is to raise their
7:46child to survive on their own
7:48and that's what I do I train a kid I
7:51give them every survival skill that they
7:54need to go out in the world and make it
7:55as a professional dancer and one two
7:58turn those hands in
8:01right more Bots it's all about the bot

8:12a new girl that came in to audition no
8:15how old is she she's six and a half
8:18and I think Abby's going to put her in
8:21our group I don't know six
8:24and if you think I'm perky and happy Oh
8:28My Gosh just wait and see she reminds me
8:30of like Mr Rogers life like oh my gosh
8:34she kept high-fiving her daughter go
8:35girlfriend and I was like oh my gosh
8:37she's actually a dance teacher well if
8:40she's a dance teacher why isn't she
8:42teaching her daughter I have no idea
8:44I can tell she's a very positive upbeat
8:47kind of a nice person and Abby is so the
8:50opposite where did she gets a load of
8:52this I already have to deal with Melissa
8:54being a perky goody two shoes
8:57now we have this new mom coming in who's
8:58like snobby Poppins and she can be
9:00Melissa's perky bookend
9:06so here comes Abby

9:11hi guys is everybody here for the
9:14electricity competition group yes yes
9:16okay moms before we rehearse actually
9:19Sandy is here and she's gonna do a
9:20costume fitting so we can get these
9:22finished for today all right excited

9:29yeah let's go new costumes are always
9:32really exciting you never know what
9:33we're gonna get but I don't add up the
9:35bills because it's too much money to add
9:37up the bills and dance I think I'd pass
9:38out on the floor

10:28fittings and you can get stoning them so

10:32girl in please oh Lord we're headed to
10:35Lancaster Pennsylvania for a competition
10:37and it's home of Amish buggies and
10:40bonnets our regular Dancewear would
10:42cause a few people out in Lancaster to
10:43have a stroke let alone these things

10:47We Gotta Wear stuff like this like when
10:49we were in Phoenix last weekend
10:50everybody had outfits on like this
10:54oh
10:56showing off your sexy little bod just we
10:59want these on the side I guess they
11:02don't like little tarps they do not look
11:04like little girls they don't think of it
11:05as they're dancing and abroads their
11:07costume but you know what they're people
11:09in the audience who see them and they
11:10think they're dancing in the bra we've
11:12had costumes smaller it's that it looks
11:14it's easy I think it's too sexy I
11:16absolutely think it's too sexy you know
11:18what can we not use the word sexy can we
11:20just say skimpy can you say scandalous
11:22you can say sassy it is still too much
11:25for their age and she'll be with 800
11:27other kids that look the same way
11:30if you don't like what I'm doing
11:32go open your own Studio these Moms come
11:35to me because of my credentials and of
11:37course my success rate but then they
11:39want to tell me how to do my business
11:41not going to happen Chloe let's go oh I
11:44can't even look
11:47Chloe let me ask you how do you feel
11:49about the costume

11:54dressing for our daughters to be up
11:55there dressed like that they look like
11:57prostitots how would your dad feel about
12:00that costume you know what until he's
12:01here painting and working and cleaning

12:16want to be on her competition team time
12:18dedication and money I have all three
12:21and I'm going to spend What It Takes
12:22that's why I am driving two and a half
12:24hours to Abby's school because she makes
12:28kids stars and I think she can make

13:15needs a lot of work she really does but
13:17I'm gonna go ahead and let her compete
13:20this weekend because I think it would be
13:21good for her is that the new girl does
13:24she come from a competition Studio she
13:26said that she was on a competition team
13:28but it doesn't look like it huh I've
13:29been able to work with Vivian a little
13:31more closely this week so I'm going to
13:34let her do a little Jazz duet with
13:36MacKenzie
13:39my mother has money
13:44I have a group of moms at my studio that
13:48have caused many students to leave they
13:51sit upstairs in the observation
13:52mezzanine and degrade other people's
13:54children
13:55go get a job and come back and pick your
13:58kid up at the end of the night
14:01all of her

14:16for StarQuest Abby has Vivi and
14:19Mackenzie on the duet I'm very surprised
14:21that Abby is letting Vivian on the
14:23competition team for this weekend oh she
14:26just stepped on my daughter

14:36she's very nice very nice I'm just
14:39getting kind of pissed that she's
14:41allowed in there but she's allowed
14:43because she's a dance teacher and one of
14:45Abby's colleagues okay I think I've done
14:48enough with the routine right now I'm
14:50gonna see what they can do together so
14:52I'm gonna send you upstairs okay okay

15:21that does all this the moms don't do any
15:23of it we're way more organized than you
15:25guys are
15:27all right I found it weird that she owns
15:31a dance studio and she's bringing her
15:33daughter two hours away to a different
15:35dance studio I mean I would think that
15:37you would make your dance studio be good
15:39enough for your own child why don't you
15:42um
15:45go back to my studio I don't care what
15:48these moms think of me all I care is
15:50that I get Vivi where she needs to be
15:52and that is to the top and do you guys
15:54use Swarovski Crystals yeah yeah so do
15:56we
15:58watch that land in that heel on that jet
16:01tank
16:03smile this week Chloe and Maddie both
16:05have new Solos Maddie will be doing an
16:08emotional lyrical routine to cry and
16:11Chloe will be doing a musical theater
16:12number to Baby Mine again you're not
16:21four o'clock to 10 o'clock
16:25and we don't get home until like 11 45.

16:37Chloe is my biggest competitor I think
16:40I'm a little bit better than her because
16:42I've I've won many awards than her
16:49my daughter's supposed to be doing her
16:50solo this weekend
16:52uh why isn't she working with my kid why
16:54is she in there doing this is this my
16:56last name isn't Ziggler
16:58Maddie's been in class this week working
17:00on her solo and you know it's perfected
17:03and it's wonderful and perfect and then
17:04she's going to send my daughter out on
17:06stage kind of looking like a fool

17:18I know
17:20I often wonder if Abby gave Chloe one
17:23twentieth of the same attention that she
17:25gave Maddie what kind of dancer my
17:26daughter could be the only one giving
17:27her attention really is me and I'm not a
17:29qualified dance teacher my hip really
17:32hurts
17:33we don't have a choice this is all we
17:35have and we have to do it so go it
17:38really upsets me it's not just me it's
17:39hurting it's hurting my child and I'm
17:41the one who keeps bringing my child back
17:43pretty smile
17:45I wonder what it's doing to her psyche
17:47to always be held down and not given the
17:50same opportunities to excel

18:45tomorrow is the competition and I have
18:48no doubt in my mind that we are going to
18:49blow this thing out of the water Chloe
18:52is one of my strongest dancers she's
18:54really coming along nicely there's a few
18:56technical issues she needs to work on
18:57but mainly applying Corrections she
19:00needs to apply Corrections quickly and
19:02then move on and one two

20:38Chloe needs sleep she's been going from
20:406 30 in the morning until 9 30 at night

20:48we're gonna have to not sleep sleep on
20:50the bus
20:52I think this little baby's been out
20:55since who knows what time this morning
20:57and she's fine no she's not she needs to
21:01go home and eat dinner but not just that
21:03I need to go home
21:09Abby I need to know what's going on with
21:10Chloe's dance because we can't stay
21:12until nine o'clock tonight I haven't
21:14been home since eight this morning that
21:16needs her for tap but she's gonna dance
21:18until nine she's a little girl seven
21:20hours of dance is a lot don't audition
21:22for any Broadway shows because you'll be
21:24working 12 hours a day
21:26Christy's telling me she's concerned
21:28about Chloe she's concerned about the
21:30new music and her performance this
21:31weekend then she wants to leave early
21:33and my older students that have gone on
21:36to the Broadway professionals they would
21:38have stayed in this room until midnight
21:40she can sleep tomorrow on the bus for
21:42five hours
21:44what do you want to do
21:47and you have a ton of homework

22:34I was never given that opportunity I had
22:37a really hard childhood and
22:42when I make decisions for my children I
22:44really just try to do it based on
22:47what I think is best for my kids and
22:51unfortunately nobody did that for me as
22:53a as a girl growing up and I really
22:55think it's important that I do it for my
22:57girls are you gonna be okay
23:02I was trying to stay strong for my mom
23:04because I didn't want to cry and then
23:06make her even more upset Chloe I don't
23:10know what all that's about
23:12and all that hugging and all that crying
23:14and all that carrying on is ridiculous

23:22Maddie you're an amazing dancer your
23:25Junior Miss dance in Pennsylvania right
23:27now you should never be leaving early

23:39sometimes and she's pushing me
23:42to an upper level level that I didn't
23:46know I should be at yet but I feel like

24:07conservative I feel that the costumes
24:09are going to be very low-key and the
24:10dances as well the other girls competing

24:26even though I love the dance electricity
24:28and I'm fine with the costumes I don't
24:31know how well it's gonna go over in
24:33Lancaster I don't want to sit by the
24:35kids

24:47is going to help me do this
24:52nice driver you hear me how are you

25:04driver because she thinks that he
25:07doesn't know where he's going but I know
25:08he is because we always get there on the
25:10parkway it would have been a straight
25:11shot and a lot faster
25:13less sick already you're kidding no yeah
25:17maybe you should sit in the front uh
25:20are we close to the turnpike where he's
25:22going now Chloe you come up here so I
25:25can start your makeup we're gonna have
25:26to do you on the bus Maddie and Chloe
25:28both had to get hair and makeup done on

25:31eyeliner might be a little hard on the

25:58doing the eye makeup when Chloe comes
26:01out and you're gonna go in we actually
26:03enjoy the chaos the fast quick changes
26:07oh well Kathy I know sorry I know how
26:11you feel

26:18StarQuest competition is one of those
26:20competitions where you can enter as many
26:22routines as possible so it's a huge
26:24competition let's go this way and the
26:26girls will be judged on their
26:27performance their technique their
26:29costume their choreography
26:34really nervous that
26:36[Music]
26:38the iography I'm just I feel kind of
26:41pressured
26:43a lot of times I feel compared to Maddie
26:46but I think it's unfair because we're
26:49different people so we shouldn't be
26:50compared when I'm dancing it should be
26:53about me and then when Maddie's dancing
26:54it should be about Maddie

30:20performance it was not connect they both
30:23did an outstanding job today they came
30:26ready to perform and ready to compete
30:28and that's what they did

30:37no matter how successful Chloe is she's
30:40never successful enough in Abby's eyes
30:42if Chloe doesn't Prevail or win a
30:45category or doesn't dance as well as
30:47another child Maddie you know and she
30:50she throws that in Chloe's face all the
30:51time and it's not fair

31:00so he is definitely in competition for
31:03the best dancer in the group and Maddie
31:04and Chloe go back and forth on any given
31:06day could be either one of them

31:36energy and perseverance and the kid has

31:50go backstage my biggest fear today with
31:52Vivi going on stage shortly is that
31:55she's going to forget the dance all
31:56right what am I doing here
31:58pumpkin I'm nervous for Vivi but she's

33:02long way to go I'm so glad I watched it
33:04you know what I need to get going for
33:06the other girls so let's get back to the
33:08dressing real quick let's go tell your
33:09sister how you did and get them ready

33:36this week the group is in the 9 to 12
33:38age category a costume is completely
33:40agent appropriate that gestures and the
33:42movement in the dance is unacceptable
33:44okay I'm trying to be supportive of my
33:48child I want her to do well I want her
33:50to perform to the best of her ability on
33:52stage so I'm conflicted girls if you're
33:54wearing two-piece costumes either sit
33:56down and do 100 sit-ups or paint the ABS
33:58on one or the other let's go this week
34:00the girls really need to bring it they
34:02need to hit every turn they need to look
34:04older they need to look sophisticated
34:06and they need to make it all look easy I
34:09think the whole makeup the costumes and
34:12the package of the presentation will
34:15definitely lend itself to being
34:16disqualified because there's always a
34:17clause about the appropriateness of the
34:19material matching the age group six
34:21seven eight and one I hope I'm wrong I
34:23hope Abby knows what she's doing I hope
34:25the girls come out successful I don't
34:26want to be the one making them feel bad
34:28I want them you know to go out and be
34:30confident but I'm just wondering what
34:31mixed messages we're sending to a bunch
34:33of little girls I mean they really just
34:35don't get they're doing what they're
34:37told to do but then you stand there as
34:40an adult and you watch every man in the
34:42lobby go like rubber next to those girls
34:45walking by

34:53last week at the West Coast we're doing
34:55a little doll dance and a sweet little
34:56dress you know Abby Sees was out there
34:58and all of a sudden we're dressed like
34:59Street Walkers and we're here in
35:02Lancaster home of the Amish in in these
35:05horrifying outfits it's just so
35:07inappropriate it's unreal timing timing
35:10timing timing all right stretch the foot
35:12on the turns all right let's go do not
35:15today is the competition we're here in
35:17Lancaster Pennsylvania at StarQuest and
35:19I just think that we definitely have
35:21this thing sewed up

35:39I'm really proud of this number because
35:41they've only been working on it for a
35:43week and I think it's going to be a
35:44clean sweep I think it's fabulous

37:43award I worry they'll be disqualified
37:45which has never happened before

38:07second place rhythm
38:11and your first place Junior small group
38:14and the winner a hundred dollars is
38:17number four six eight eight nothing

38:23our kids were robbed definitely we out
38:26danced all the dancers on stage today I
38:29think they danced really well maybe it
38:30was a little bit appropriate
38:34words right out of my mouth
38:38for us we don't come in here as the Abby
38:40Lee Dance Company and not place in the
38:42top five I think the judges were really
38:44setting a statement and you know it
38:45doesn't feel good to get our butts kept
38:47what do you think the sabbies
38:52Abby's going to get the score sheets
38:54back from this competition we're gonna
38:55know what the judge's thoughts were and
38:56I guarantee you the judges are thinking
38:58inappropriate it's not nice
39:01you're not used to that and you know
39:03what maybe those judges didn't like you
39:05you know I don't know maybe I didn't
39:08like what they had on today I don't know
39:09I thought they looked fabulous I thought
39:12it was a hot number I thought it was
39:13exciting I thought it was 2011. I
39:16thought they did a great job thank you
39:18very much go ahead and head upstairs try
39:20to get some pictures can we really eat
39:22Abby I really need to see you right now
39:23please I think I need to talk to him
39:28and I know I respect your creativity and
39:31your talent so that was over the top
39:33inappropriate for little girls I think
39:35you and I both know that left being very
39:38uncomfortable to see my little girl on
39:40stage gyrating smacking spots in front
39:43of everybody when when they went down
39:45and opened their legs I almost walked
39:46around I mean that's
39:48I
39:49and you know what's so weird is your
39:51child loved it and wanted to do it yeah
39:54I know but
40:00I am the coach I am their teacher I make
40:03creative decisions and I have to stand
40:05by them if you don't like it get up and
40:08walk out of the auditorium she is a
40:09child she is nine years old
40:12excuse me go ask your nine-year-old if
40:15she likes what she's wearing it doesn't
40:17matter what our kids think that's not
40:19their decision it's our responsibility
40:21people are looking at us they're judging
40:24us like who knows what they would wear
40:26they're judging you absolutely I'm the
40:28mother I love her because she's like
40:30that well then maybe you should not come
40:32you need to stay at home
40:34yeah absolutely absolutely absolutely
40:37Abby's like the Queen of Hearts Off With
40:38Their Heads like she's never reasonable
40:40she never can understand and listen to
40:42somebody else's point of view it's
40:43always like
40:44done I'm a mom I'm emotional and I
40:47cannot stand to see much let me ask you
40:49over the top and I need to go right now
40:50Abby because I'm just a little Christian
40:51Holly verbally assaulted me when a
40:54parent opens their mouth they are
40:56ruining their child and that's what they
40:57need to think about everyone is
40:59replaceable that's the first thing you
41:01learn in my studio and that is the last
41:04time it will ever happen it should not
41:06have happened Chloe absolutely loves the
41:09costume loves what she's doing is a very
41:11talented little girl but her mother's
41:13going to ruin her it's obvious
