  1. 0:02welcome back to another sweet home 3d
  2. 0:05tutorial in this video we're going to be
  3. 0:07using everything we've learned in the
  4. 0:08past lessons to draw up a complete
  5. 0:11simple floorplan from start to finish
  6. 0:13and we're gonna export it out and create
  7. 0:16documents that we could then give to
  8. 0:17like a Planning and Zoning Department or
  9. 0:19to a contractor and actually have this
  10. 0:22structure built so super useful
  11. 0:24information here we're gonna start I'm
  12. 0:27just gonna just my view so I can see
  13. 0:30more of this grid area that we're going
  14. 0:31to be working in quite a bit and then
  15. 0:34I'll go to this zoom and I'll zoom in a
  16. 0:36little bit and then I'm going to select
  17. 0:38my grab the pan tool and come back up to
  18. 0:41the top left
  19. 0:41I'll find 0 0 was where I like to build
  20. 0:44and I'll grab my room tool or create a
  21. 0:47floor first before I do Wallis so I'd
  22. 0:51left-click I come over I'll hit the
  23. 0:53enter key and type in 16 and then the
  24. 0:55feet symbol and I'll come down because
  25. 0:58I'm building this this is gonna be us so
  26. 1:00it's gonna be in feet we'll do 8 feet so
  27. 1:03we'll do 16 by 8 and then 16 again and
  28. 1:06for my last one I'll just double click
  29. 1:08and my start point to close it off then
  30. 1:10I'll go to my wall tool and we'll build
  31. 1:13a wall here and same thing we'll just go
  32. 1:158 feet I'm just typing it in whoops that
  33. 1:18should have been 16 so we'll do another
  34. 1:20one 8 feet to let's just erase that
  35. 1:23let's start over so I wanted this I
  36. 1:25click and delete if you mess up you can
  37. 1:27select the wall and delete now go back
  38. 1:29to my wall tool will come right to this
  39. 1:30point and we'll go enter 16 and then
  40. 1:34this one was 8 and this one was 16 and
  41. 1:39this one I'll just double click to end
  42. 1:41it off as well very nice so now we have
  43. 1:43a nice 3d model down here of what it
  44. 1:46looks like and we have our 2d view up
  45. 1:49here so I don't zoom in zoom in one more
  46. 1:52time just so we can see this nice and in
  47. 1:55our full screen and that's dragged in a
  48. 1:57little bit of well let's put it let's go
  49. 2:00to door first of all so let's come over
  50. 2:02here to doors and windows I'll select
  51. 2:04this door and I'll left-click and drag
  52. 2:06will put a door just right here on the
  53. 2:08we'll have it be six inches away from
  54. 2:12the corner so
  55. 2:13come right up in okay perfect seven
  56. 2:17inches away that's fine so it's the
  57. 2:18seven inches away from the corner we can
  58. 2:20see what it looks like but look it has
  59. 2:21swings in the wrong direction so we can
  60. 2:23change that by just double-clicking on
  61. 2:25it and we go to mirror shape and that
  62. 2:29mirrors the shape of it we can also see
  63. 2:31this door we know it's three feet wide
  64. 2:33so it's 36 inches which is perfect for a
  65. 2:36front door for us and tells us all the
  66. 2:38different size information about it our
  67. 2:40walls if we're curious we can double
  68. 2:42click so I want these walls to be two by
  69. 2:44four so it says the thickness is 0.3
  70. 2:46inches so that's okay we're not really
  71. 2:48dimensioning the walls anyway so no
  72. 2:50one's gonna know by looking at it how
  73. 2:52thick they are and unless we note on the
  74. 2:54plan but there these are actually
  75. 2:56according to the scale of everything
  76. 2:58there is 0 feet 3 inches and did I say 6
  77. 3:01before they're 3 inches and so if we
  78. 3:03want to change it to like a 2 by 6 we
  79. 3:05could adjust that accordingly but the
  80. 3:07finished wall is gonna be 3 inches is
  81. 3:09what it's saying oops
  82. 3:10control-z let's grab some windows now so
  83. 3:13maybe I'll do a nice let's do a round
  84. 3:15window in the back and if you wanted to
  85. 3:17be centered we'll just kind of move
  86. 3:19around we it tells us dimensions on both
  87. 3:21sides right here so we want it to be 2
  88. 3:23feet roughly the same on both so this is
  89. 3:272 feet 9 and we want it to be 2 feet 7
  90. 3:32and 2 feet 8 let's come over 2 feet 7
  91. 3:34and a half two feet 7 and 1/2 completely
  92. 3:36centered so we have a nice window
  93. 3:38centered on the back wall here and then
  94. 3:41let's grab in let's just grab two more
  95. 3:44slider windows let's do a slider window
  96. 3:46let's have it be about let's have a beef
  97. 3:513 foot 7 inch from the back wall and
  98. 3:53then I want to be another one on this
  99. 3:56side so we come to 3 feet 7 inch perfect
  100. 3:58now I have 2 windows but we see they're
  101. 4:01so tall they almost look like sliding
  102. 4:03glass doors
  103. 4:04so this resize us a little bit we can
  104. 4:06make sure we're on our selection tool we
  105. 4:08can select one of them hold down the
  106. 4:10shift key and select the second one
  107. 4:11since we want to edit them both at the
  108. 4:13same time and then we can just right
  109. 4:15click and go to modify furniture and
  110. 4:17then here we can just change them so we
  111. 4:20can change the height of it to instead
  112. 4:24of being 6 feet tall we can just make it
  113. 4:26make
  114. 4:26three feet tall and actually what we
  115. 4:29would really want to do so it looks a
  116. 4:30lot better we probably really want to
  117. 4:32find an actual window like at our supply
  118. 4:35store at Home Depot or somewhere and we
  119. 4:37would get the dimensions of that window
  120. 4:39and then we would type them in here so
  121. 4:41that we have a real we don't want to
  122. 4:43make a custom window at least not that
  123. 4:45for this project probably but anyway
  124. 4:47let's change that so now we want to need
  125. 4:48to raise it up a little bit so we'll go
  126. 4:50to elevation and we'll make it three
  127. 4:52feet four inches off the ground and that
  128. 4:54looks a lot better now everything we've
  129. 4:57we've put in here is gonna as appearing
  130. 4:59over here in our materials list so we
  131. 5:02have a door we have a round window a
  132. 5:03slider window and all the dimensions of
  133. 5:06it and when we actually print out our
  134. 5:07documents it'll print out a separate
  135. 5:09page for all of the it calls it
  136. 5:13furniture but it's for all the items
  137. 5:15that we've that we've placed in our
  138. 5:17drawing okay so this is looking pretty
  139. 5:21good
  140. 5:22let's dimension a little bit here so
  141. 5:24let's choose some good dimensions or
  142. 5:26this show let's show the the Builder or
  143. 5:29the city or whoever what we're what
  144. 5:32exactly we're trying to do here so let's
  145. 5:34grab our dimensioning tool because just
  146. 5:36by looking at it all they see so far is
  147. 5:37128 square feet because this is actually
  148. 5:40how the plans gonna look like for them
  149. 5:41so I left click here I come over and
  150. 5:44make sure it says 8 feet exactly because
  151. 5:46I want them to know that this is an 8
  152. 5:48foot wall and I'll bring it out a little
  153. 5:50bit just to give it some better
  154. 5:51visibility and then we'll make sure
  155. 5:53we're still on this tool and we'll come
  156. 5:54over and we'll click and we'll come over
  157. 5:57and make sure this is exactly 16 feet
  158. 5:59and then we'll dimension it out like so
  159. 6:01and maybe when we zoom out a little bit
  160. 6:04that might be a little bit hard to see
  161. 6:06so let's come over and we can select
  162. 6:08these both at the same time like we did
  163. 6:10the windows so we'll select and then
  164. 6:12hold down shift and select both both of
  165. 6:14them and we'll just hit this key here it
  166. 6:17makes this a with a larger a and it
  167. 6:19makes those a little bit bigger we can
  168. 6:21maybe make them bold too let's make them
  169. 6:23bold and let's select this and make it
  170. 6:25also bold
  171. 6:27perfect so that looks nice and then we
  172. 6:30can say if we can maybe dimension this
  173. 6:33window here so we can come over we don't
  174. 6:35need to say the size of the window
  175. 6:37because they're gonna see that in the
  176. 6:38materials breakdown but we
  177. 6:39can come over and be like look from this
  178. 6:42wall the center of this window needs to
  179. 6:45be well whatever it is it's basically
  180. 6:49the center of the wall right I hate
  181. 6:51football so it's basically four feet so
  182. 6:55just so they know so we can come out and
  183. 6:57just kind of do this kind of thing here
  184. 6:58so they know okay gosh that's four feet
  185. 7:01and then look this thing's getting in
  186. 7:02our way a little bit now now I'm now
  187. 7:05that I'm seeing this so let's come over
  188. 7:06here and we'll move this we can actually
  189. 7:08move this somewhere else like to this
  190. 7:10part of the document maybe perfect oh
  191. 7:13then this needs to match our we need to
  192. 7:15make it a little bit bigger and make it
  193. 7:17bold so it matches perfect okay so
  194. 7:23that's kind of a nice simple little
  195. 7:24floor plan I think you get the idea we
  196. 7:26could keep going and do some more
  197. 7:29we need like roof details and maybe we
  198. 7:32could do foundation details but really
  199. 7:33let's just let's show what it would look
  200. 7:35like just getting this out right now so
  201. 7:39let's put this up here make sure it's in
  202. 7:41the right place and let's choose a good
  203. 7:43view so whatever view we put this in
  204. 7:45it's kind of how it the orientation it's
  205. 7:48gonna appear so it's kind of a nice 3d
  206. 7:50view is showing the windows and the
  207. 7:51inside of this little room and then this
  208. 7:54view of course is going to be just like
  209. 7:55that I want to show you one thing we can
  210. 7:57do so if we go to page setup it gives us
  211. 8:01an option for choosing a header and a
  212. 8:04footer so a good time a good thing to do
  213. 8:06on the header or either one but let's
  214. 8:08put like the address if we say like five
  215. 8:10five five maple street
  216. 8:15whatever Seattle and then on the footer
  217. 8:18we can say like TJ free Builders Inc and
  218. 8:28so we have a just some information so
  219. 8:31that it makes our document look a little
  220. 8:32bit better so we hit OK oh and actually
  221. 8:35well let's print this out first and just
  222. 8:37so you can see what it's going to look
  223. 8:38like we got a file and we'll just go
  224. 8:40print to PDF or you could actually print
  225. 8:41print to PDF just shows us what it's
  226. 8:44going to look like if it were printed
  227. 8:46without me actually having to print it
  228. 8:47out and
  229. 8:48get out the webcam and stuff so this is
  230. 8:51the document we just printed it would
  231. 8:52look like this it'll have three pages
  232. 8:54the first page has a breakdown of all
  233. 8:56the materials at all the doors windows
  234. 8:58anything like that that it needs to know
  235. 9:00about and we see at the top it has the
  236. 9:03address and the bottom it has the name
  237. 9:05of the company or any information we
  238. 9:07want to provide same thing with this one
  239. 9:09we have an address at the top the name
  240. 9:11of the company and then it's showing
  241. 9:12everything that we've detailed about
  242. 9:15these plans the square footage of this
  243. 9:17room the dimensions of these walls and
  244. 9:21the distance of the center of this
  245. 9:23window to the edge of this wall and then
  246. 9:25it has a little 3d view of it so this
  247. 9:27gives people a pretty good idea
  248. 9:28especially like a builder if you're
  249. 9:30wanting someone to build something for
  250. 9:31you rather than just like drawing on a
  251. 9:33napkin or telling them if you sent
  252. 9:35someone this they'd be like okay gotcha
  253. 9:37they might want to know that the height
  254. 9:39of the walls they might want to know
  255. 9:41what you're building it on is it
  256. 9:43concrete is it like a slab is it just
  257. 9:45gonna be built on like dirt what are you
  258. 9:47trying to do you know so we can actually
  259. 9:49provide that information and we probably
  260. 9:51should so we can come back I'll close
  261. 9:53this and we can come over and we'll just
  262. 9:56put information right anywhere but we
  263. 9:58can do it let's put it down here sure so
  264. 10:03we're gonna grab our this just text tool
  265. 10:06and we're going to start typing in some
  266. 10:08text so I'll just click right here and
  267. 10:10we'll just call this will go exterior
  268. 10:14walls or we'll just say two-by-four
  269. 10:20exterior walls and we'll just have that
  270. 10:24because one thing that we type and then
  271. 10:25we'll grab another thing we'll just type
  272. 10:26in six inch concrete slab so just any
  273. 10:37details that we want to put and we'll do
  274. 10:39one more thing that says wall height I'm
  275. 10:46doing this backwards eight-foot wall
  276. 10:52height there we go
  277. 10:54and we can change the size of this we
  278. 10:57can change the tattoo text color all
  279. 10:59that and then we just drag and get these
  280. 11:01all and kind of put these all in one
  281. 11:03little area and then we can draw out
  282. 11:06actually come over here to this polyline
  283. 11:08and we can just draw a box around this
  284. 11:13just to make it look a little bit more
  285. 11:15official to do so there we go so we've
  286. 11:22got a nice little details box down here
  287. 11:23and you get the idea I'm not gonna style
  288. 11:26it up too much but you can kind of
  289. 11:27stylize this and you can match the look
  290. 11:29and feel of documents in your area or
  291. 11:32have a certain type of look you want to
  292. 11:33go for now if we go print to PDF
  293. 11:36we've reprinted here just click print we
  294. 11:39go over right now it's going to look
  295. 11:41like this so now we have some details
  296. 11:45here and we could we can create a box up
  297. 11:47here with the more details when you have
  298. 11:49notes you know if you're familiar with
  299. 11:51construction documents you'll have all
  300. 11:52kinds of details and plans and
  301. 11:54specifications so we could we can have
  302. 11:56like a roof schedule down here telling
  303. 11:58all about the slope of the roof wouldn't
  304. 12:00have a foundation schedule talking about
  305. 12:02all the different you know rebar or
  306. 12:04whatever it needs to be known about the
  307. 12:06foundation but yeah this is like a basic
  308. 12:09this is creating a basic plan and some
  309. 12:12basic documents that we can then share
  310. 12:13with someone to give them a very clear
  311. 12:16idea of what we want to build hope you
