- 0:40Today we have the last Sunday of the
- 0:43month of Mess and next Sunday will be
- 0:46the the last Sunday of the whole Coptic
- 0:48year. So these are the last two Sundays
- 0:51of the Coptic year, you know. um Nairo
- 0:55is coming. So it's going to be
- 0:5814 days maybe less less than 14 days. So
- 1:02the beginning of the Coptic year Coptic
- 1:04year is coming very soon. So the last
- 1:06two Sundays
- 1:09the church
- 1:11dedicated to a subject
- 1:14the the people who study theology know
- 1:17as esquetology.
- 1:19Say what's this Aun a curse word?
- 1:22Escathology. What's escology?
- 1:25>> End of
- 1:26>> that the study
- 1:29the discipline of the end of times
- 1:33subject that from the time
- 1:36of the prophets even before Christ
- 1:38people have been thinking about
- 1:41and wondering
- 1:43what will happen at the end of times.
- 1:44Will we go on forever and ever and ever
- 1:46in this or there's going to be something
- 1:49happening to this existence to that mode
- 1:53of existence we're going to it's going
- 1:55to kind of come to end
- 1:58the the disciples
- 2:01asked Jesus one time
- 2:04about this and it is in Mark 13 and
- 2:08Matthew 24 very famous chapter in
- 2:10Matthew just keep it in your mind how
- 2:12many chapters in Matthew 28 8 chapter 24
- 2:15four chapters before the resurrection
- 2:17before the end of the gospel Jesus
- 2:19speaks about esquetology he's giving us
- 2:21hints is he interested for us to know
- 2:24yes does Jesus want us to know about
- 2:27what will happen at the end of times
- 2:29absolutely yes
- 2:31in turn we need to study what he had
- 2:34said
- 2:36what do we say in the creed at the very
- 2:40end of the creed what do we say we
- 2:42believe in unholy Catholic and apostolic
- 2:45church. We confess one baptism for the
- 2:49remission of sins. We await the
- 2:52resurrection of the dead and the life of
- 2:56the age to come. For we do await that.
- 3:00No one who loves Jesus would say, "I
- 3:02want to stay here." You really truly
- 3:04love him like anybody who you miss and
- 3:07your heart is like there's a tug there
- 3:09to go to him. you're going to be looking
- 3:11for the resurrection of the dead as
- 3:12something very good, excellent,
- 3:15something desirable more than anything
- 3:17else.
- 3:19Um, let me tell you about this. So,
- 3:23today we have this reading from Mark and
- 3:25it's Mark 13 which very much correlates
- 3:28to Matthew 24. And I'm going to go to
- 3:31Matthew. So, because we already listened
- 3:32to Mark, we're going to go to Matthew
- 3:34and pick up something more.
- 3:37In Mark, uh the story is that Jesus is
- 3:40sitting on the mountain of olives
- 3:42opposite the temple. Anybody here went
- 3:45to the holy land?
- 3:47Yeah. What's the best view of Jerusalem?
- 3:51From the mountain of olives across. It's
- 3:54a the mountain the Jerusalem is on a a
- 3:57hill called Mount Zion.
- 4:00There's a little valley. Then you go to
- 4:02a bigger hill. They call it mountain
- 4:04there because they don't have real
- 4:05mountains. And it's the mountain of
- 4:08olives, Mount Zion. And you can see the
- 4:11temple. And today we have the Dome of
- 4:14the Rock. The Muslims have put their
- 4:15mosque on top of the place where the
- 4:17temple is, which kills the Jews
- 4:19internally. So they have the Dome of the
- 4:22Rock which has a golden dome, very
- 4:24famous from the pictures. And then you
- 4:26climb, you go down to valley of Kedron,
- 4:28come up and there's a mountain of
- 4:30olives. You sit there, you see Jerusalem
- 4:32under you. You see the whole that's the
- 4:35picture you find on the internet. So it
- 4:39it says here he sat on the mountain of
- 4:41olives on this high hill looking down at
- 4:44the temple. Peter, James, John and
- 4:46Andrew asked him privately
- 4:48tell us when will these things be? What
- 4:51is what are they talking about? And what
- 4:53will be the sign when all these things
- 4:55will be fulfilled?
- 4:57That's why I want to give you this is a
- 4:58very summarized version of what they
- 5:00asked really asked something more than
- 5:02that. And why did they ask it? So I'm
- 5:04going to go to Matthew. Matthew gives a
- 5:07little bit more details about the
- 5:09circumstances of this question. They did
- 5:12not question the Lord out of nothing. He
- 5:16had said something made them have that
- 5:20question. It was actually on Palm Sunday
- 5:24after Jesus going through Jerusalem and
- 5:26people shouting for him hosana hosana
- 5:30that he went out
- 5:32from the temple and his disciples came
- 5:35up to show him the buildings of the
- 5:37temple. Temple was very impressive. I
- 5:39want to tell you Herod the great which
- 5:41is the one who killed the Bethlehem
- 5:43children who wanted to kill Jesus was a
- 5:46master builder made a lot of big
- 5:49buildings and this is one of them it's a
- 5:51monument
- 5:52very impressive so the disciples were
- 5:54showing Jesus look look how big these
- 5:56buildings are and what did Jesus say do
- 6:00you not see all these things assuredly
- 6:03means for sure I say to you not one
- 6:06stone shall be left here upon another
- 6:09that shall not be thrown down. And true
- 6:12enough, there is no stones of the
- 6:14building left except that one wall.
- 6:17One wall. It's a retaining wall. Anybody
- 6:20here understand what's a retaining wall?
- 6:22>> A wall you build to keep the soil from
- 6:25falling.
- 6:27That was not done to build the temple on
- 6:29top of the that soil. And what do they
- 6:32call this wall today?
- 6:35The crying wall or the wailing wall. You
- 6:37see the Jews standing in front of it
- 6:38doing this in front of the wall and
- 6:41saying their lamentations about the
- 6:43temple. So Jesus had prophesied this for
- 6:4630 40 years before it happened.
- 6:50And then he sat on the mountain of
- 6:52olives. That's the scene we saw in Mark.
- 6:53The disciples came to him privately
- 6:57saying so what did he say?
- 7:01The temple will be destroyed. Not one
- 7:04stone will remain. So the to continue
- 7:06the discussion that was in the temple.
- 7:08Now they left the temple, they left
- 7:10Jerusalem, climbed up the mountain of
- 7:12olives and he sits there. They're asking
- 7:14him a follow-up question. Tell us when
- 7:18will these things be
- 7:21and what will be the sign of your coming
- 7:25and of the end of the age? Okay, wait a
- 7:28second here.
- 7:30Anybody can tell me what the disciples
- 7:32thinking.
- 7:36It's the end of the ages.
- 7:37>> Exactly.
- 7:39That the time of the destruction of the
- 7:41temple means the end of
- 7:44>> the world to the Jews. That's correct.
- 7:48And that's a question that they will
- 7:49never be able to answer. How come that
- 7:52the temple is down and we still have
- 7:55time 2,000 years later?
- 7:59They have no answer. I have done that
- 8:02before. I've asked Jewish people about
- 8:04how do you think about this? Zimba
- 8:07should be the end of time. When it's
- 8:08done, it's done. It's almost like your u
- 8:11your uh your stopwatch.
- 8:14The temple is a stopwatch. You stop it,
- 8:18everything stops.
- 8:20So they have the same idea. Tell us when
- 8:23will these things the temple will be
- 8:24knocked down and what will be the sign
- 8:26of your coming and of the end of age.
- 8:28This is the question that in answering
- 8:31it in the gospels, the two stories got
- 8:34mixed up. The story of the temple and
- 8:38the story of the end of the time. So
- 8:39when you read it, don't get confused. It
- 8:41seems like the two are actually made
- 8:44into one stories because the question
- 8:46was both of them at the same time until
- 8:48the gospel was written. That was the
- 8:51belief, the expectations. Okay? And then
- 8:55Jesus said answered and said take heed
- 8:57that no one deceives you. And he speaks
- 9:00about many people will come in his name
- 9:03saying I'm the Christ. It happened there
- 9:05then at that time many people came. And
- 9:09the book of acts speak about that. And
- 9:11you will hear of wars and rumors of
- 9:13wars. See that you are not troubled. For
- 9:16all these things must come to pass but
- 9:18the end is not yet. For nation will rise
- 9:21against nation and kingdom against
- 9:23kingdom. And there will be famines. Keep
- 9:25in mind famines, pestilences,
- 9:29earthquakes in various places. Just keep
- 9:33that order in your mind. Wars.
- 9:37Then what?
- 9:39Famines. And then pestilences. He means
- 9:43any way the person die. Can die by any
- 9:46kind of sickness, diseases. uh mass
- 9:50murder those are all pestilences and
- 9:52earthquakes is number four. Let me go
- 9:55with you the book of Revelation. See
- 9:56what the book of Revelation so you can
- 9:57understand exactly how the books are in
- 10:01harmony.
- 10:02They're all saying the same thing.
- 10:06In chapter
- 10:08six of Revelation, which we know that's
- 10:11talking about the end of times, times to
- 10:13come. Part of it. Part of it, not all of
- 10:15it.
- 10:17And I saw when the lamb opened one of
- 10:19the seals and I heard one of the four
- 10:20living creatures saying with a voice
- 10:22like thunder, come and see. I I think
- 10:24this is a beautiful verse. It's in John
- 10:27and in the revelation says especially
- 10:29our church. When you ask somebody when
- 10:31you want somebody to come and know or
- 10:32know about the church, you don't tell
- 10:34them, you don't give them sit and give
- 10:35them a lecture. What's the best thing
- 10:37you say?
- 10:38>> Come and see.
- 10:38>> Come and see. You cannot be knowing
- 10:41anything about the church without being
- 10:42in the church participating in it. So
- 10:45what this is saying about uh invitation
- 10:48from the heavenly beings uh the four
- 10:50living creatures to John come and see.
- 10:53And then he came and saw and I looked
- 10:55behold a white horse. He who sat on it
- 10:58had a bow and a crown was given to him
- 11:01and he went out conquering and to
- 11:03conquer. And everybody says this was
- 11:05Christ the coming of Christ and his
- 11:07resurrection.
- 11:09When he opened the second seal, I heard
- 11:11the second living creature saying, "Come
- 11:12and see." Another horse, fiery red, went
- 11:16out, and it was granted to the one who
- 11:18sat on it to take peace from the earth,
- 11:21and the people should kill one another.
- 11:23And there was given to him great sword.
- 11:25What's that?
- 11:26>> Wars.
- 11:27>> Wars. Wars. Fighting which ends up like
- 11:30the World War II. And a huge number of
- 11:33people like millions died.
- 11:38And when though he opened the third seal
- 11:40seal, I heard the third living creature
- 11:41say, "Come and see." So I looked at him.
- 11:42Behold, black horse, and he who sat on
- 11:45it had a pair of scales.
- 11:48You know, Lady Justice with the
- 11:50blindfolded, what does she have in her
- 11:52hand?
- 11:53>> Pair of scales
- 11:56and to weigh things, to measure things.
- 11:59And the living third living creature
- 12:00said looked and I looked and behold a
- 12:03black horse. And he who sat on it had a
- 12:06pair of scales in his hand. And I heard
- 12:08a voice in the midst of the four living
- 12:10creatures saying a court of wheat for a
- 12:13dinarius.
- 12:15A quart of wheat.
- 12:18That's not a big measure. You know
- 12:20what's a court? Your milk measure.
- 12:24But you get a court for a dinarius.
- 12:27Naras is a whole day wage for a laborer.
- 12:30You work a whole day to get your milk
- 12:34jar full of wheat. Would that be enough
- 12:37to feed a family? Not at all. What is he
- 12:40talking about?
- 12:42>> A famine.
- 12:44And three quarts of barley. Barley a
- 12:46little cheaper for a dinarius. And do
- 12:48not harm the oil and the wine. And when
- 12:51he opened the the fourth seal, I heard
- 12:53the voice of the fourth living creature
- 12:54saying, "Come and see." And I looked,
- 12:56behold, a pale horse, and the name of
- 12:58him who sat on it was death,
- 13:02a lot of pestilences,
- 13:05and Hades followed with him, and power
- 13:07was given to them over the fourth of the
- 13:09earth to kill with the sword, with
- 13:11hunger, with death, and by the beasts of
- 13:13the earth, any kind of death that would
- 13:15do mass destruction.
- 13:19And he opened the fifth seal, and he saw
- 13:20under the altar the souls of those who
- 13:22had been slain for the word of God. This
- 13:24is martyrs and Jesus is going to speak
- 13:27about it and he's telling telling the
- 13:28church martyrdom will be going on from
- 13:31one generation to another as a witness
- 13:34to the whole earth.
- 13:37And the sixth one
- 13:40and when he opened the sixth seal and
- 13:42behold there was a great earthquake. I
- 13:45doubt that's the original Greek because
- 13:48what's really happening he's not
- 13:50describing it's an earthquake of the
- 13:52earth but mainly what's happening the
- 13:54sun became black as sackcloth of hair
- 13:57and the moon became like blood and the
- 13:59stars of heaven fell to the earth as a
- 14:01fig tree drops its laid figs when it's
- 14:03shaken by a mighty wind. What's he
- 14:05describing is something in heaven, not
- 14:08an earthquake. So it seems to be more
- 14:11like a a heaven quake.
- 14:15You go back to the gospel that we read
- 14:19today
- 14:25and he's talking about earthquakes.
- 14:28What I see is the same between the two
- 14:31between the book of revelation and um
- 14:36and the gospels and how we we uh the two
- 14:39are actually giving the same image.
- 14:41Jesus is giving us multiple events
- 14:44that's happening in the world that will
- 14:48be signs for the end. But to tell you
- 14:50the truth I am more and more inclined to
- 14:53think this is a cyclical pattern. you
- 14:56get uh wars, then you follow by famines,
- 15:00they follow by um uh plagues, and they
- 15:04follow by m earthquakes and there's
- 15:07martyrdom going on all the time. You
- 15:10know, you heard about the earthquake in
- 15:12Turkey 3 4 years ago, 2 years ago,
- 15:1540,000 people was killed. 40,000.
- 15:20And here then Russia and Ukraine, Israel
- 15:23and Palestinians, these all things
- 15:25that's going on from one generation to
- 15:26another. So it's more of a cyclical
- 15:28nature. It doesn't happen one time. But
- 15:30it seems like toward the end we'll have
- 15:33this cycle become very exaggerated much
- 15:35more. Okay.
- 15:38Now
- 15:40so he's saying it the same way. He says
- 15:43nation will go against nation wars,
- 15:44kingdom against kingdom and there will
- 15:46be earthquakes various places. There
- 15:48will be famines and troubles. He's
- 15:50saying it in a very short uh way in
- 15:52Mark. Mark is very short. And then he's
- 15:55talking about the martyrdom. Watch for
- 15:57yourselves for they will deliver you up
- 15:58to councils. You'll be beaten in the
- 16:00synagogues. And he's talking about the
- 16:02preaching of the gospel everywhere.
- 16:04That's one of the problems that we need
- 16:06to focus on. There's still places on
- 16:09earth the gospel did not go to.
- 16:12and to you to to me then the the
- 16:16invention of the internet which was in
- 16:18the 80s
- 16:20um and the accessibility to information
- 16:23and communication
- 16:25will make this happen
- 16:28faster than anybody can think.
- 16:31There's no corner on earth does not have
- 16:34internet access.
- 16:37So this is something to think about. And
- 16:40he's uh he's saying that brother will
- 16:42betray brother to death and a father his
- 16:44child and children will rise up against
- 16:46parents and cause them to be put to
- 16:47death. He's predicting martyrdom. That's
- 16:50the fifth seal and you'll be hated by
- 16:55all for my name's sake. So this happened
- 16:57twice. This has happened before in the
- 17:00time of Jesus
- 17:02a after he left the church was
- 17:04persecuted and then he's saying
- 17:07something about specifically about
- 17:08Jerusalem but it might also mean
- 17:10something about the end of times. So
- 17:12when you see the abomination of
- 17:15desolation
- 17:17spoken of by Daniel the prophet standing
- 17:20where it ought not and he puts in
- 17:24parenthesis let the reader understand.
- 17:28Hint hint to those of us who wants to
- 17:32think.
- 17:34What was that?
- 17:37He said if you see that he called it the
- 17:40abomination of dissolution. What's an
- 17:42abomination?
- 17:46Something very disturbing.
- 17:50Something What's an abomination?
- 17:52Hateful.
- 17:54Disgusting.
- 17:56You might say that
- 17:59dissolation. What's dissolation?
- 18:02Destruction. Annihilation.
- 18:06So what is this?
- 18:09So 40 years after Jesus ascended to
- 18:11heaven, 40 years maybe 37, 70 AD
- 18:17came they made the Jews especially as
- 18:20the zealots a group called the zillots
- 18:22were revolutionists refused the uh
- 18:26occupation of the Romans and they
- 18:28started calling killing a lot of the
- 18:30soldiers and doing a lot of uprising
- 18:33against Caesar.
- 18:36So the emperor of Rome at the time sent
- 18:40and we talk about Nero
- 18:42sent a general his name was Titus
- 18:45besieged Jerusalem with almost a million
- 18:49and a half Jew inside
- 18:52and those who came to the feast could
- 18:54not come out. Josephus is talking about
- 18:56it is horrific.
- 19:00I I would not recommend reading what he
- 19:02said about it because there's a lot of
- 19:04um
- 19:06um imagery that is not easy to forget.
- 19:11One of the simplest way the the people
- 19:14inside of Jerusalem after a year of
- 19:16siege started eating dead bodies and
- 19:20they will fight over it. Dead bodies of
- 19:23animals, dead bodies of humans.
- 19:26Parents would eat their dead children.
- 19:29to survive that siege. Why? Jesus said,
- 19:34"By the way, one and a million half Jews
- 19:37were killed in this siege. Not a single
- 19:40Christian died." Cuz all of them
- 19:43remembered what Jesus had said. What did
- 19:46they see for them to run away? They said
- 19:49the first thing Titus did before he
- 19:52comes with the army to besiege the city.
- 19:54He took the the banner of the Roman
- 19:57Empire which was the eagle that brass
- 20:01eagle and put it right in the temple
- 20:04where ought to be no one putting any
- 20:06flag in that place.
- 20:09When they saw this, the Christians said,
- 20:11"Uh-oh, that's what Jesus talked about.
- 20:13Let us go." You hear a tone of this in
- 20:16the letter to the Hebrews when the
- 20:18letter to the Hebrews for the first time
- 20:19ever says guys we have no city here. Oh
- 20:24I thought city the Jerusalem was given
- 20:26to us by God. This is a city of a great
- 20:28king of David
- 20:31where the temple is why we should leave
- 20:34it. You are you guys are traitors.
- 20:36Imagine in a family there is a priest
- 20:40a family of priests. A priest who
- 20:42followed Christ and became a Christian.
- 20:43another his brother and his cousins are
- 20:46still Jewish priests serving in the
- 20:50temple. So that one Christian priest
- 20:52said, "I'm leaving." So you're a
- 20:53traitor. The the brothers would say,
- 20:55"You're leaving the city of God. You're
- 20:57leaving the city of David and the
- 20:59temple. We will die here." And he said,
- 21:02"No, we don't have here a remaining
- 21:06city. Our city is waiting for us up with
- 21:09Jesus wherever the king is."
- 21:12And this is what he said. If you see
- 21:14that banner of the Roman Empire in the
- 21:17temple, everyone should run. And that's
- 21:20what they what they did. So he said,
- 21:23so when you see the abomination of
- 21:25desolation spoken of by Daniel the
- 21:28prophet standing where it ought not, let
- 21:30the reader understand. Let the then let
- 21:33those who are in Judea flee to the
- 21:35mountains.
- 21:37Why is he saying let the reader
- 21:38understand? Because he's not going to be
- 21:39it doesn't come to his heart. is not
- 21:41agreeable with him. Matthew that he
- 21:43would say the the Roman banner will be
- 21:45in the temple. It will break him down.
- 21:48It break everybody he reads and they
- 21:49will be shocked. But he says I'll let
- 21:52you to understand this. So let him who
- 21:55is in the housetop not go down into the
- 21:58house nor enter to take anything out of
- 21:59his house and let him who is in the
- 22:01field
- 22:03not go back to to get his clothes. Don't
- 22:06waste time. It's going to be very
- 22:08quickly. But woe to those who are
- 22:10pregnant and to those who are nursing
- 22:12babies in those days. And pray that your
- 22:14flight might not be in the winter for in
- 22:17those days will be tribulations. And
- 22:19this is what he's going to talk about.
- 22:20And then he speak about
- 22:24um okay and he said but take heed see I
- 22:27have told you all things beforehand but
- 22:30in those days after that tribulation
- 22:32then he's talking about the other
- 22:34question the second coming and they're
- 22:36mixed together because the questions
- 22:38were mixed together and the topic in the
- 22:41mind of the apostles at the time were
- 22:43mixed together but the church can
- 22:45differentiate those. Then he talks about
- 22:47the coming of the son of man on the
- 22:48clouds and then the the the
- 22:51resurrection. Now let me just say this
- 22:53what we should do with this
- 22:56first I think I would I want to focus
- 22:58very quickly. I'm not going to keep you
- 23:00much. But here um
- 23:04this word
- 23:06[Music]
- 23:08when you see the abomination of
- 23:10desolation spoken by Daniel prophet
- 23:13standing where it ought not. I'm going
- 23:16to focus about this. Standing where it
- 23:18ought not. The presence of something
- 23:23does not belong. Imagine
- 23:27I come here on the altar and I put big
- 23:30TV and we come watch an action movie.
- 23:35How would you feel about it?
- 23:39It is this this TV going to tell me this
- 23:41TV does not belong here nor here by the
- 23:43way.
- 23:47They should not I mean sometimes I come
- 23:48to the church and I look at the TV
- 23:50screen and it has you know how uh Apple
- 23:53TV is or chcast advertisement about
- 23:55movies there might be naked people there
- 23:58might be violence in on the icon stes
- 24:02that's a side point
- 24:04it where it ought not
- 24:08do you see something because we're
- 24:09coming to the end of time so definitely
- 24:12do you see things standing where it
- 24:14ought
- 24:14[Music]
- 24:19Do you have something in your home
- 24:21stands where it ought not? Do you do you
- 24:24have something in your heart staying
- 24:26where it ought not?
- 24:30And the more I bring in stuff into my
- 24:32life and I'm not careful where they
- 24:35belong, these things are bringing in. So
- 24:38what would that be for the end of times?
- 24:42What would this standing where it ought
- 24:44not be in at the end of times?
- 24:48It will not because there's no temple.
- 24:50Now I will tell you one thing, it will
- 24:52be than the church. The church, the
- 24:55church will have things where it ought
- 24:56not. And we're getting more of that.
- 25:00Our hearts which should be the temple of
- 25:02the Holy Spirit, we have things in it
- 25:04where it ought not.
- 25:06our homes.
- 25:10This is very serious.
- 25:13With the with the coming with that with
- 25:17the invention of more communication
- 25:19tools, there's a lot of things that
- 25:21stand where it ought not.
- 25:23I would tell I tell the deacons, you
- 25:25know, it's it's terrible. I heard I
- 25:28don't have time to leave here and go and
- 25:30attend liturgies in other churches that
- 25:32deacons hopefully not the priest deacons
- 25:35are sitting texting
- 25:37on their phones while liturgy is going
- 25:41on. This is definitely standing where it
- 25:43ought not.
- 25:45That's why I say don't take your phone
- 25:47with you to the altar. At least to the
- 25:49altar. I would say silence it when you
- 25:51come to the church because it shouldn't
- 25:52stand where it ought not. This is God's
- 25:55time. There's more of that. More of
- 25:58that. Before the invention of the cell
- 26:00phone and the the internet, we didn't
- 26:02have that. Yes, they are very useful,
- 26:04but they have their place.
- 26:07You should not be standing where they
- 26:09ought not.
- 26:12Think about God's time.
- 26:15We talked about this a couple weeks ago.
- 26:17I said, why do we pray?
- 26:20Because it's fair. It's fair to say to
- 26:23God, thank you. It's really unfair for
- 26:26God to do all what God had done
- 26:28creating, supporting and saving. In
- 26:31return, I don't say thank you to the
- 26:33Lord at least every day. At least once.
- 26:37Where what is standing where it ought
- 26:39not. I wake up and open my eyes and then
- 26:41my immediately on my phone and then I
- 26:43forget. God becomes number two. I push
- 26:46him aside and I put my cell phone. I put
- 26:50my social media. Isn't that standing
- 26:52where it ought not?
- 26:57There's a lot of that and if we really
- 26:59honest and serious with ourselves, we're
- 27:02going to see this happening more and
- 27:03more. We got we get used to it and this
- 27:05is what will happen. It will happen
- 27:07openly.
- 27:09It will happen openly and nobody will
- 27:11have any objection and it started to
- 27:13happen by the way. See it in all kinds
- 27:16of
- 27:18Christian gatherings.
- 27:21A lot of that happens. So I want us to
- 27:25think today about yes the end of times
- 27:28is going to come but Jesus is giving us
- 27:30signs. One of them is this abom
- 27:32abomination of desolation something that
- 27:34should not be there and it is there.
- 27:36That is a big sign. What is that? He
- 27:39said he said that's the writing on the
- 27:42wall. What do we mean by that? A sign of
- 27:46destruction.
- 27:48you especially you the people of God
- 27:51consecrated that Jesus died for them and
- 27:54you're baptized you put on Christ and
- 27:56you are dedicated you have things that
- 27:58doesn't belong to him take his place
- 28:00think about that what would be in the
- 28:02world if that's us who are the holy
- 28:05people of God and what would you think
- 28:07the world will have if we are the hope
- 28:12of the world the more things go down
- 28:16within us the more I am poor it will be
- 28:18the end. Let me show you something about
- 28:20this. So it's about the prayer
- 28:22especially prayer time and prayer uh
- 28:25dedication. Let me show you something
- 28:26from the book of Luke from the gospel of
- 28:30Luke about what Jesus expectation is for
- 28:33the end of times.
- 28:36Then he spoke a parable to them that men
- 28:38always ought to pray.
- 28:41You see ought here ought not ought to
- 28:44pray and not lose heart. saying there
- 28:47was in a certain city a judge who did
- 28:49not fear God nor regard man. Now there
- 28:51was a widow in that city and she came to
- 28:53him saying get justice for me for my ad
- 28:56from my adversary.
- 28:58And he would not for a while but
- 29:00afterward he said within himself though
- 29:03I do not fear God nor regard man. Yeah
- 29:06because this widow troubles me I will
- 29:09avenge her lest by her continual coming
- 29:12she weary me. Then the Lord ended this
- 29:15parable and turned to the people and
- 29:17said, "Hear what the unjust judge said."
- 29:20And shall God not avenge his own elect
- 29:23when who cry out day and night to him?
- 29:25Do he bears long with them? What's he
- 29:28saying? You have lost trust in God that
- 29:31you stop praying.
- 29:33Don't you think that even a bad judge
- 29:35will respond
- 29:38if the person R is persistent? You think
- 29:42God is a bad judge?
- 29:45And shall God not avenge his own elect
- 29:47who cry out, "Avenge means I'm fighting
- 29:49so hard, Lord, help me. I have an
- 29:52adversary that's keeps bothering me and
- 29:54bugging me and want me to do and break
- 29:56your commandments. Help me." And this is
- 29:59how the response says,
- 30:02"I tell you that he will avenge them
- 30:04speedily." Nevertheless, listen to this
- 30:06is the the sentence I'm actually
- 30:08bringing this for. Nevertheless, when
- 30:11the son of man comes, will he really
- 30:14find faith on earth? Okay, what's he
- 30:18saying?
- 30:20He says two things here. Faith is shown
- 30:23in
- 30:24prayer persistence.
- 30:27And the second thing he's saying when he
- 30:29comes, he expects to find
- 30:33nobody praying.
- 30:36That's what he expects. I think it's an
- 30:37ironic ironic question. It's a
- 30:40rhetorical question that actually answer
- 30:43itself. When the son of man come, will
- 30:45he find peace on earth? If you know that
- 30:47your child
- 30:50does not make up their bed and you know
- 30:52that this is their habit and then you
- 30:54tell them, okay, if I come up now to
- 30:56your room, will I find you make your
- 30:57bed? What do you mean?
- 31:00I'm not expecting it.
- 31:03So when he comes, will he find faith in
- 31:06persistent prayer? Which means to me
- 31:08when Jesus comes, one of the big signs
- 31:11of his coming, prayer is going down.
- 31:16That's one of the signs. And it's
- 31:18replaced by something else that ought
- 31:19not to be there.
- 31:22Think about this. Okay, let me say the
- 31:24two words in Arabic.
