- 0:00Selma Blair out of her mind on a
- 0:03on a flight from LA to JFK.
- 0:07Um, we're going to look at local New
- 0:09York City news coverage of her
- 0:11arraignment on October 12th, and then
- 0:13you and I are going to talk about this.
- 0:15Here we go.
- 0:16>> not go within 100 yards of this
- 0:18individual. Do you understand, Ms.
- 0:20Blair? Yes or no?
- 0:21>> Yes, sir.
- 0:22>> We just left criminal court here in
- 0:23Queens where actress Selma Blair was
- 0:25brought in in handcuffs. Uh, she was
- 0:28shedding tears as the judge read those
- 0:31charges. Two counts of assault against a
- 0:33police officer and a nurse she's accused
- 0:35of kicking the police officer and the
- 0:38nurse that arrested her after an
- 0:39outburst on the Delta flight she was on.
- 0:42Delta flight 938 Sunday night from Los
- 0:45Angeles to JFK. The judge also issued a
- 0:48protective order against the nurse she's
- 0:50accused of kicking. Now, according to
- 0:52air traffic controller audio, uh, there
- 0:55was some sort of incident where a flight
- 0:57attendant and a passenger on the plane
- 0:59needed medical attention at the gate.
- 1:01>> One flight attendant and one passenger
- 1:03that sustained some minor injuries. Uh,
- 1:06a bloody nose as well as some
- 1:08bite marks as well.
- 1:09>> Her attorney said the behavior was a
- 1:10result of exhaustion and skipping her
- 1:13meds she takes for multiple sclerosis.
- 1:17>> You know, Rob, when I'm exhausted, you
- 1:20know what I do?
- 1:21I um, assault multiple people at once
- 1:25and I attempt to open the door of the
- 1:29commercial flight I'm on midair. That
- 1:32actually truly tracks with someone who's
- 1:34just completely exhausted and skipped
- 1:36their prescription medication. Talk to
- 1:38us about this story and the way in which
- 1:40you are seeing it covered in the
- 1:42mainstream media.
- 1:43>> Yeah, I think people are treading
- 1:44carefully on this initially because we
- 1:47know she has suffered with major health
- 1:49complications. And so, I do believe
- 1:52people were giving her the benefit of
- 1:54the doubt until we started to dig into
- 1:57this a little bit. It is a miracle. for
- 1:59Thank goodness for those flight
- 2:01attendants who were on her immediately.
- 2:04This plane could have gone down. We
- 2:06could have a very different story today.
- 2:09So
- 2:09>> agree with you more, Rob. And I have to
- 2:11say something. This is where I I'm going
- 2:13to begin on the nerve to continue to to
- 2:17really push uh
- 2:19further than most other people would
- 2:21want to go, maybe.
- 2:23I'm sorry if you have
- 2:26a neurodegenerative
- 2:28condition that is untreatable
- 2:31or barely treatable, but really you're
- 2:34going to be decompensating the rest of
- 2:36your life. I'm truly sorry. That this is
- 2:38the second time this woman has gone out
- 2:41of her mind on a commercial flight while
- 2:44in midair, okay? And they're going to
- 2:46try to medicalize this. That's what her
- 2:48team is going to do. So everybody just
- 2:50back the off because Selma Blair
- 2:52has multiple sclerosis, which by the
- 2:54way, I saw an incredible post on Twitter
- 2:57by someone who is in the medical field.
- 3:00Um I'm going to pull it up and read it.
- 3:03He says he doesn't necessarily believe
- 3:06she has MS.
- 3:07People with MS
- 3:09don't go on Dancing with the Stars years
- 3:12and years after their condition. It's
- 3:14from Zachary Grin. I've said it before
- 3:17and I'll say it again. You cannot have
- 3:19MS since childhood as Selma Blair
- 3:21claims, receive no treatment for
- 3:24decades, and then have zero physical
- 3:26deficits. Yes, there are recent videos
- 3:29and we will show them here of her
- 3:31jumping, running, and dancing with zero
- 3:35physical impairments. She was highly
- 3:37symptomatic in her documentary.
- 3:40Maybe she very recently did develop MS,
- 3:43but that doesn't explain her narrative
- 3:45of lifelong symptoms. I can't imagine
- 3:48that people living with MS, this is such
- 3:50a great point, that people living with
- 3:52MS can look at Selma Blair and think
- 3:54that she represents their struggles and
- 3:57what they struggle with as a disability.
- 3:59I'm sorry, but same thing. Same thing.
- 4:01If it whether she has it or not, she is
- 4:04a net negative to the community of
- 4:06sufferers who have MS and she is a
- 4:08public menace who should never
- 4:11be allowed to fly on commercial aircraft
- 4:12again. Delta should ban her as should
- 4:15all major carriers.
- 4:16>> Yeah, I I think that's a really lenient
- 4:18punishment here. She nearly brought down
- 4:20a plane. Let's be honest about it here.
- 4:22She tried to open the door of a plane in
- 4:25flight and thank God for that passenger
- 4:27and those flight attendants who are the
- 4:29heroes of this story, not her. They're
- 4:32going to weaponize her her medical
- 4:34condition. They're going to try and and
- 4:35pull at people's heartstrings about
- 4:38that, but so far I've got to admit I've
- 4:40been pretty satisfied with the coverage.
- 4:43We we saw the judge really snap back. He
- 4:45called her the gold standard. That's
- 4:48what her lawyer, that's what Selma
- 4:49Blair's lawyer called her in court. The
- 4:52gold standard. She's someone we should
- 4:53look up to, he went on to say. He said
- 4:56that her body of work speaks for itself
- 4:59and the judge said
- 5:00>> I'm sorry, she a bit part and cruel
- 5:02intentions?
- 5:03Elevates this woman above the criminal
- 5:05justice system. By the way, there were
- 5:07troublemakers who had incredible points.
- 5:09One of which is she was taken there's
- 5:12audio of her screaming her head
- 5:14off at JFK once they got hold of her.
- 5:17And by the way, the flight attendant and
- 5:18the passenger who intervened these
- 5:20heroes. One got a broken nose
- 5:21for her pro for her Wait, she broke
- 5:24someone's nose. She kicked a nurse.
- 5:25She's trash. She kicked a Who kicks a
- 5:28nurse? She bit somebody. She has a
- 5:30history. She wrote about it in her
- 5:31memoir. What she likes to do with people
- 5:33is bite them, okay? You are a public
- 5:35health hazard. You are biting people.
- 5:38Um they took her to Queen's Hospital.
- 5:41Uh and um is it right Is that the right
- 5:44name of the hospital? I'll find it. But
- 5:45anyway, they evaluated her and they cut
- 5:47her loose, which means she wasn't having
- 5:49a psychotic break. She wasn't. She was
- 5:52out of her mind, I'm going to say it, on
- 5:54booze and street drugs. That's my
- 5:57opinion of what was going on here.
- 6:00>> The the the fact that she was in court,
- 6:02standing up, without a cane, may I ask?
- 6:05Without a cane.
- 6:06>> Hey, Selma, take a note from Harvey. Get
- 6:09yourself a walker. He That's what he
- 6:10did.
- 6:11>> Yeah, wheel yourself in. Get a
- 6:12wheelchair, wheel yourself in. And so, I
- 6:14think here, this is going to really
- 6:16explode. She's facing up to 7 years in
- 6:18in jail. And and I think that
- 6:20a judge and a jury could find her very,
- 6:22very easily guilty of that. And let's
- 6:24let's be honest here about about Selma
- 6:26Blair. Before her diagnosis, she was
- 6:30notorious for being a Hollywood mean
- 6:32girl. She was a Blake Lively. This is
- 6:35somebody who has never been very kind,
- 6:37who has never been very easy to be
- 6:40around, who certainly has a very high
- 6:42opinion of themselves. She's the type of
- 6:45celebrity that makes us really dislike
- 6:48celebrities. And I think this entitled
- 6:50behavior that that we've seen again and
- 6:52again and again. And once again, this is
- 6:54not her first plane incident. Back in, I
- 6:57think, 2016,
- 6:59there was another incident on the plane.
- 7:01>> Not an incident. A total
- 7:04freakout meltdown that was terrifying.
- 7:06And I have to I just I'm just going to
- 7:08push back on this wording, which I
- 7:09understand you using because it's the
- 7:11way it's reported. Incidents, events.
- 7:14Imagine you're on that plane and
- 7:16somebody a passenger starts losing their
- 7:18mind and they're you know, like
- 7:20you're you're already stressed, you're
- 7:22in midair, you place your life in the
- 7:23hands of pilots you don't even know. You
- 7:25know what I mean? And then this happens,
- 7:27you're terrified you're terrorizing
- 7:29people.
- 7:30>> It is terrifying. You're absolutely
- 7:33right about this. And now she is going
- 7:36to be held accountable. And and I hope
- 7:37the system really works. I don't believe
- 7:40her minor celebrity will be able to
- 7:43convince people otherwise. She's not
- 7:45Angelina Jolie, she's not Jen. We do
- 7:47know, I'm not saying it's a good thing,
- 7:49but we do know the criminal justice
- 7:51system is often bedazzled by
- 7:53celebrities. We saw this in the Diddy
- 7:55case. We've seen this in other cases. I
- 7:57don't think it's going to work for her.
- 7:59I I think here that that she's going to
- 8:01get, hopefully, her appropriate
- 8:03punishment. And this this excuse that
- 8:05her lawyer's making, that she forgot to
- 8:07take her medication, she's not
- 8:08>> the way, Rob, and they're they're
- 8:10ladling on Parkinson's now.
- 8:12>> I saw that, too. I saw that, too.
- 8:14>> Now, she's also got Parkinson's. What's
- 8:15next? What's next?
- 8:18>> She's not 10 years old. She's not She's
- 8:20a grown-ass human being. She managed to
- 8:23get on that flight, managed to take your
- 8:25medication.
- 8:27It
- 8:28It The whole thing reeks of celebrity
- 8:31entitlement, reeks of celebrities who
- 8:34have a different criminal justice
- 8:36system. And that's why this story has
- 8:38really exploded. Normally, in in in in
- 8:41in my business and in in our business,
- 8:43it needs an A-list celebrity to get this
- 8:45type of attention, and she's certainly
- 8:47not that. However, her behavior so
- 8:52touched people's nerves because we have
- 8:54seen people get away with stuff. We've
- 8:57seen people misbehave at airports. It's
- 9:00a really triggering time to to fly. Lots
- 9:03of stuff is going on in the world.
- 9:05Nobody Nobody feels relaxed on planes
- 9:07anymore. And then to have a minor
- 9:10celebrity cause such a fuss, and not
- 9:13just a fuss, put the flight and
- 9:15everybody on that flight at risk. If you
- 9:19want to complain about the peanuts,
- 9:20knock yourselves out. If they don't have
- 9:22the right champagne for you, be a
- 9:24be a diva, but the minute you start to
- 9:27threaten the lives of everybody on that
- 9:31plane, we have to be really, really
- 9:33strong here. And I don't care if you
- 9:35have MS, I don't care if you're in a
- 9:37wheelchair, what she did was wrong. And
- 9:39And just on an earlier point, I know two
- 9:41people who are are really suffering with
- 9:44MS and they're horrified today that
- 9:46she's using this as an excuse because it
- 9:48paints the whole MS community as
- 9:50erratic, as people that can't be
- 9:52trusted, as people who forget to take
- 9:54their medicine. They don't.
- 9:56The people I know who have MS, it is
- 9:59religious when they take their pills.
- 10:00They know exactly the moment. If you
- 10:03were out for dinner with them, the a a
- 10:05time it goes off on their phones. And so
- 10:07everybody that I know within that
- 10:09community, not many people, just a
- 10:10couple, but a really good, decent people
- 10:14who have been dealt a bad hand in life
- 10:16and are trying to make the best of it.
- 10:18She's the opposite.
- 10:20>> I too know someone with MS and I
- 10:24>> Tough to say.
- 10:25>> It's It's This is the thing where I
- 10:26don't believe I don't I'm just going to
- 10:27say it, I don't believe her.
- 10:29Uh you don't 6 years after your official
- 10:32diagnosis go on Dancing with the Stars.
- 10:34>> Right.
- 10:35>> It goes one way. It goes south. It goes
- 10:38south. And it's rough. It's rough. And
- 10:40you know, before we move on to our next
- 10:42story, um I also just want to say I I
- 10:45agree with you like she's not famous
- 10:47enough where like the level of her
- 10:49celebrity could potentially sway jurors
- 10:52or prosecutors into offering a plea
- 10:55deal, but what I worry is going to
- 10:56happen between now and her court date,
- 10:59which we've been told is January 2027,
- 11:02is she and her team are going to get out
- 11:04there and medicalize this.
- 11:06>> Mhm.
- 11:07>> Falsely. And say, "You got to cut her a
- 11:09break." Like she's very sorry, but you
- 11:11know, she's really struggling here.
- 11:13She's been struggling forever and you
- 11:14know, she didn't really mean this and
- 11:16she's she's going to get whatever help
- 11:18she Like no, it's a no. It's a no,
- 11:20sister. You deserve to do prison time
- 11:23for this. It's your second go-round with
- 11:25this and you deserve to be banned from
