  1. 0:00it's the state of limbo where you're in
  2. 0:02your head you know what you need to do
  3. 0:03but you can't bring yourself to do it
  4. 0:05you've given up on life but there's a
  5. 0:07part of you that wants to keep trying
  6. 0:09the action that you take creates the
  7. 0:12life that you live and you get so caught
  8. 0:14up in wanting wishing all this kind of
  9. 0:16stuff that you don't act you have to
  10. 0:19have a whole scale transformation of
  11. 0:22your life which is surprisingly
  12. 0:25easier than people think it is so today
  13. 0:31we're going to talk about the
  14. 0:32self-loathing man of inaction in your
  15. 0:35late 20s or early
  16. 0:3730s the only things he does are the
  17. 0:40things he used to do and he does them
  18. 0:42less and less has built an entire
  19. 0:44worldview around his Neurosis I need
  20. 0:47some time to think constantly re
  21. 0:49revisits increasingly skewed memories of
  22. 0:51the past wondering what he should have
  23. 0:53done instead fixated on things no one
  24. 0:55actually remembers probably not even to
  25. 0:57him at this point I can't do anything
  26. 1:00defe us who can never quite give up this
  27. 1:02is beautiful right a defe us who can't
  28. 1:04quite give up only boring people get
  29. 1:06bored that's me slowly becoming actually
  30. 1:10the RW so let's call it cognitive
  31. 1:13decline um it was always going to be
  32. 1:16like this closest thing to fer new
  33. 1:17experiences or elaborate fantasies where
  34. 1:20he reimagines redoing his entire life
  35. 1:22centered around girls he barely knew in
  36. 1:24like Middle School family are the only
  37. 1:26thing that's keeping him alive knows
  38. 1:28what was what a schis is doesn't know if
  39. 1:30he is one if I could do it I would have
  40. 1:34by now no one chooses this yeah I was
  41. 1:36thinking about doing that know it knows
  42. 1:38it's not too late but wishes it
  43. 1:42was it only hurts when I laugh goes
  44. 1:45months at a time without laughing or
  45. 1:46sincerely smiling in constant pain
  46. 1:48either neat or wage slave both equally
  47. 1:51hopeless it's not like things can get
  48. 1:55worse um accidentally once felt a moment
  49. 1:57of relief has been upset about it since
  50. 2:00and it it's not like things can get
  51. 2:01better developing healthy problems
  52. 2:04justify crappy LIF developing health
  53. 2:06problems but justify a crappy lifestyle
  54. 2:08why should I do anything cannot accept
  55. 2:10what he's done nothing does nothing in
  56. 2:12response he exists in a state of living
  57. 2:15death thinking the same thoughts over
  58. 2:16and over day in and day out even as he
  59. 2:20understands that thinking doesn't help
  60. 2:21and that he needs to just act instead he
  61. 2:24is completely overwhelmed by inertia
  62. 2:27while life passes him by He Is lot
  63. 2:30everything but can't let go of anything
  64. 2:33no reason to live no reason to die no
  65. 2:36reason okay and then haunted by vague
  66. 2:39Dusty delusions of
  67. 2:41megalomania the self-loathing man of
  68. 2:45inaction
  69. 2:46so I really like this part defeat us who
  70. 2:50can never quite give up right I think
  71. 2:52this speaks a lot to the self-loathing
  72. 2:54man of in
  73. 2:55action there are a lot of people out
  74. 2:57there who struggle with this who view
  75. 3:01themselves as people of inaction for
  76. 3:03whatever reason it's always framed as a
  77. 3:05man on the internet and so they they're
  78. 3:07stuck in their head they can't move
  79. 3:10on but they can't let go right so you're
  80. 3:14kind of always like it's the state of
  81. 3:16limbo where you're in your head you know
  82. 3:18what you need to do but you can't bring
  83. 3:19yourself to do it you've given up on
  84. 3:22life but there's a part of you that
  85. 3:23wants to keep trying and so it's this
  86. 3:26weird like balance of like okay I'm
  87. 3:28hopeless and then one day I have hope
  88. 3:32but you actually become afraid of Hope
  89. 3:35because hope means
  90. 3:36trying and hope means attempting and
  91. 3:40hope means
  92. 3:41hoping then if you try and if you
  93. 3:43attempt and if you hope when those
  94. 3:46things don't work out that leads to more
  95. 3:49hurt so you kind of get stuck in this
  96. 3:52like longing for
  97. 3:55limbo right a desire for numbness
  98. 3:59because if you're numb then there's no
  99. 4:01hope and if you're there's no hope
  100. 4:03there's no disappointment and if there's
  101. 4:05no disappointment there's no
  102. 4:07hurt and at the same time even when
  103. 4:09you're numb you long to feel things that
  104. 4:11occasionally there'll be like a ray of
  105. 4:14sunshine through the clouds where you
  106. 4:16have a little bit of hope you smile a
  107. 4:18little bit you feel a little bit of
  108. 4:19relief but then you're scared because
  109. 4:22you don't know how to create that
  110. 4:26consistently and so you view yourself as
  111. 4:29a person of
  112. 4:32inaction so we're going to approach this
  113. 4:34I mean there were two or three ways that
  114. 4:36I could talk about this my first thought
  115. 4:38was I would go through and address each
  116. 4:41of these like sentences and explain the
  117. 4:44mechanism behind that maybe we can do
  118. 4:46that but I want to start sort of in a
  119. 4:49different
  120. 4:52place so the first thing I'm going to
  121. 4:54say is that this is not a man of
  122. 4:58inaction this is a man man of an intense
  123. 5:02amount of action see this is the first
  124. 5:05and largest and most catastrophic
  125. 5:09mistake we make when you look at your
  126. 5:11life and you think to yourself I never
  127. 5:13do anything this is categorically wrong
  128. 5:16the reason your life is the way that it
  129. 5:19is is because you are doing things all
  130. 5:22the time may not make sense so let's
  131. 5:24dive into it and be a little bit more
  132. 5:26technical so this is one of the biggest
  133. 5:28things that the theater of karma teaches
  134. 5:30us right actions have
  135. 5:33consequences this is a scientific truth
  136. 5:36there is cause and there is effect this
  137. 5:37isn't spiritual this is
  138. 5:40science so the life that you have
  139. 5:42created around
  140. 5:44yourself is not a result of inaction it
  141. 5:48is a result of action so for example if
  142. 5:51I wake up today and I log onto the
  143. 5:54computer and I play video games for 8
  144. 5:56hours that's not inaction that's action
  145. 5:59for 8 hours and that will have an
  146. 6:03effect if I wake up today and I do not
  147. 6:06apply for a job I will not have a job
  148. 6:08tomorrow so that every day when I wake
  149. 6:11up in my life what the truth of the
  150. 6:14matter is is this life is not a result
  151. 6:16of inaction and this is why it's so hard
  152. 6:20to fix because it's not that you've done
  153. 6:23nothing moving from neutral is not hard
  154. 6:27right very easy a small amount of
  155. 6:30acceleration in the positive direction
  156. 6:33if I am at neutral will result in a
  157. 6:35positive velocity right if I start
  158. 6:37walking forward and I was standing still
  159. 6:40I will start covering
  160. 6:42ground that's not what happens with the
  161. 6:44man of
  162. 6:45inaction positive acceleration results
  163. 6:48in a negative velocity how is that
  164. 6:51possible that's because they are moving
  165. 6:54in the wrong direction so it's not a man
  166. 6:56of inaction is a man of wrong action
  167. 6:59when people hear about our coaching
  168. 7:01program their first response is usually
  169. 7:03why would I work with another human
  170. 7:04being when I can watch YouTube videos
  171. 7:07all on my own working with a coach is
  172. 7:09about amplifying your time and effort
  173. 7:12we're great at wanting things and even
  174. 7:14making some progress but we usually
  175. 7:16struggle with follow through or have
  176. 7:18some kind of setback and that's exactly
  177. 7:20where working with a coach can help
  178. 7:21coaches provide personalized support to
  179. 7:23help you set appropriate goals make
  180. 7:26progress and even work through setbacks
  181. 7:28just let us know what your goals are
  182. 7:30what kind of support you're looking for
  183. 7:31and we'll match you with the best coach
  184. 7:34for your unique needs check out the link
  185. 7:36in the description below to see if
  186. 7:37coaching is right for you so these
  187. 7:39people are taking actions literally
  188. 7:41literally literally literally they are
  189. 7:44taking actions every single day you
  190. 7:48don't just sit in your bed all day you
  191. 7:50get out of bed you do particular things
  192. 7:52those are actions maybe you get high
  193. 7:54that is an action that has a consequence
  194. 7:57and maybe you say but Dr hey I do lay in
  195. 8:01bed all day that too is an action laying
  196. 8:05is a
  197. 8:07verb right like
  198. 8:10technically I'm sitting right now this
  199. 8:12is an action I am taking your whole life
  200. 8:15you have no choice but to take actions
  201. 8:19and so if you look at your life and it
  202. 8:21is completely Fallen apart this is not a
  203. 8:24result of
  204. 8:26inaction this is a result of wrong
  205. 8:28action
  206. 8:30and you know
  207. 8:31this because you look back in your life
  208. 8:33and you said I should have done this I
  209. 8:35should have done this I should have done
  210. 8:36this I should have done this what did
  211. 8:38you do instead of the things that you
  212. 8:40should have done you did something else
  213. 8:42you didn't ask that girl out you didn't
  214. 8:45apply you didn't uh do the extra credit
  215. 8:48you decided not to go to school you
  216. 8:50stayed home so this is one thing that
  217. 8:53yall have to understand the biggest
  218. 8:56thing that you have to understand you
  219. 8:58are always acting there's no such thing
  220. 9:01as an action arguably there is but very
  221. 9:05few very few people on the planet truly
  222. 9:07engage in in action if you guys want to
  223. 9:09understand that we can talk about it at
  224. 9:10the end so here's the thing that I want
  225. 9:12you to understand the life that you live
  226. 9:14today is a consequence of your actions
  227. 9:18so it's not that you need to act more it
  228. 9:21is actually here's the big irony it is
  229. 9:23that you need to act less what you
  230. 9:26actually want is inaction and this is
  231. 9:30why these people are fundamentally stuck
  232. 9:32because what they try to do is they try
  233. 9:34to do more and instead what they need to
  234. 9:37be doing is doing less doing less of the
  235. 9:40wrong thing will move you in the right
  236. 9:42direction so most of these people are
  237. 9:44running in the wrong direction in life
  238. 9:47the right way to
  239. 9:48stop you know if you're if you're at
  240. 9:50minus 100 and you want to avoid getting
  241. 9:53to minus 200 the first thing that you
  242. 9:55need to do is learn to sit still just
  243. 9:57stop moving
  244. 10:00stop doing the things that you are doing
  245. 10:02don't even try to do the right thing
  246. 10:04stopping doing the wrong thing is
  247. 10:06sufficient and this is what's really
  248. 10:08weird this is what confuses
  249. 10:12people see if you want to lose weight
  250. 10:16you don't need to eat anything you need
  251. 10:19to stop
  252. 10:20eating if you want to recover from any
  253. 10:23addictive substance the solution to
  254. 10:26addiction is
  255. 10:28inaction right
  256. 10:30it's kind of weird so there's one other
  257. 10:33layer that we have to add on which a lot
  258. 10:35of people don't really think about which
  259. 10:37is that we assume that actions are
  260. 10:39physical so this is the other big thing
  261. 10:42you have to understand 95 to 99% of the
  262. 10:46actions that a human being takes are in
  263. 10:48their
  264. 10:50mind I'll give you all a really good
  265. 10:52example of this so there is something
  266. 10:55called obsessive compulsive disorder OCD
  267. 11:00in which someone has obsessive thoughts
  268. 11:03so they will think something that feels
  269. 11:05really overwhelming like unless I turn
  270. 11:08on and off the light
  271. 11:10switch seven times the plane that my
  272. 11:13family is on will crash and everyone
  273. 11:16will die this is what we call an
  274. 11:19obsession an obsession is a thought that
  275. 11:21is repetitive and usually intrusive and
  276. 11:24causes distress that is technically what
  277. 11:26an obsession
  278. 11:27is then what happens is the compulsion
  279. 11:30is the action that you take in response
  280. 11:33to the obsession so when I think these
  281. 11:36thoughts I will act in some
  282. 11:40way but when I act in that way it
  283. 11:44reduces the emotional energy of the
  284. 11:46thought the only way I can get the
  285. 11:49thought to disappear is by taking this
  286. 11:52action so when I flick the light switch
  287. 11:55on and off and on and off and on and off
  288. 12:00when I do it seven
  289. 12:01times then the thoughts are calmed so
  290. 12:05now I am taking a physical action to
  291. 12:08reduce a mental
  292. 12:10action and if we kind of think about it
  293. 12:13thoughts lead to other thoughts right so
  294. 12:16this is why I like this principle of
  295. 12:19karma because in the English language
  296. 12:22when we use the word action it has an
  297. 12:25implication of physicality to it
  298. 12:30but when we say karma karma is an action
  299. 12:33but the key thing about karma is it's
  300. 12:34anything that is a cause that has an
  301. 12:37effect that is a Karma and so if you
  302. 12:40have a thought does that have an effect
  303. 12:44absolutely so this is what we do in
  304. 12:46Psychotherapy if someone has for example
  305. 12:50a destructive schema a worldview that is
  306. 12:53negative we can alter their mind so that
  307. 12:57one thought does not lead to another
  308. 12:58thought does not lead to another thought
  309. 13:01each thought you have is an action
  310. 13:04there's a great lecture over on the
  311. 13:05membership side that we have about
  312. 13:07mental karmas which you all should
  313. 13:08definitely check out there's also
  314. 13:10something I think in the trauma guide
  315. 13:11about it as well right so if you all are
  316. 13:13really interested in understanding and
  317. 13:15mastering this idea that each of your
  318. 13:17thoughts isn't of itself an
  319. 13:20action right because each thought has a
  320. 13:23consequence in a panic attack what do we
  321. 13:25what happens in a panic attack I have
  322. 13:27one thought that leads to another
  323. 13:28thought that that leads to another
  324. 13:29thought that leads to another thought
  325. 13:30that leads to another thought and then
  326. 13:32these thoughts over time become
  327. 13:34overwhelming they activate my physiology
  328. 13:37my I go crazy for a little bit and then
  329. 13:39my brain short circuits my heart can
  330. 13:41even short circuit for a little while
  331. 13:43and then the whole system shuts off and
  332. 13:45even I want yall to really understand
  333. 13:47this if you think that your life has
  334. 13:49fallen apart because you're a
  335. 13:50self-loathing man of
  336. 13:53inaction think for a
  337. 13:55second what are the causes
  338. 13:59of your current life self-loathing so
  339. 14:03when you view yourself when you
  340. 14:05literally have this thought if we can
  341. 14:07inject these thoughts into any human
  342. 14:10brain they will have a similar
  343. 14:13consequence self-loathing is is an
  344. 14:16action it is a mental
  345. 14:18action it is a particular kind of
  346. 14:21thought and those mental actions will
  347. 14:24lead to physical actions and this kind
  348. 14:27of makes sense right if I think
  349. 14:29about taking a sip of
  350. 14:32water that is what results in taking a
  351. 14:35sip of water so this is where and if you
  352. 14:38kind of think about it right if you're
  353. 14:39one of these people what you find is
  354. 14:41that you're very drained at the end of
  355. 14:44the day even though you've done nothing
  356. 14:46what's draining you if you've done
  357. 14:48nothing you've done a lot you've done a
  358. 14:51lot of thinking you've actually done a
  359. 14:52lot of physical action
  360. 14:54too and this creates an inertia in the
  361. 14:57mind it creates all kinds of of effects
  362. 15:00in your mind and in your life that make
  363. 15:02it hard for you to act in the right way
  364. 15:04so it's not that you have inaction it is
  365. 15:06that you have an
  366. 15:08overabundance of wrong action right
  367. 15:11you've created a really problematic life
  368. 15:14and you've created a very problematic
  369. 15:16thought process a really good example of
  370. 15:19this is if I have a thought of suffering
  371. 15:23if I feel some degree of suffering what
  372. 15:25do I do I reach for numbness right
  373. 15:29I feel hopeful and if I feel hopeful
  374. 15:33this hurts my mind attaches be careful
  375. 15:37now be be careful here okay when you
  376. 15:39feel hopeful your mind attaches a fear
  377. 15:43to hope this is an
  378. 15:45association when I feel hopeful I have
  379. 15:48learned to fear hope and since I now
  380. 15:51fear hope I need to shut off hope and so
  381. 15:55then I Le reach for a numbing agent take
  382. 15:58your pck of whatever suppresses the
  383. 16:00Olympic olymic system video games
  384. 16:03pornography social media marijuana
  385. 16:05alcohol whatever take your pick and then
  386. 16:08we numb ourselves we numb the fear and
  387. 16:11along with it goes the hope but then we
  388. 16:13create a huge problem because when we
  389. 16:16begin to numb
  390. 16:17ourselves we shut off the part of our
  391. 16:20brain that motivates physical action one
  392. 16:23of the most powerful
  393. 16:25motivators are our emotions but there's
  394. 16:28two too much negativity right so we have
  395. 16:31to numb it and that there in lies the
  396. 16:34problem the more that we numb the
  397. 16:36negativity the more of the negativity
  398. 16:38builds up so the first thing that we
  399. 16:40have to understand is that we are not
  400. 16:43men of inaction We Are Men of an intense
  401. 16:46amount of action and if you really stop
  402. 16:48and think about it what does it take to
  403. 16:50screw up your life as much as you've
  404. 16:54screwed it up right and I say this as
  405. 16:56someone who screwed up my life like it
  406. 16:58took a lot of
  407. 17:00effort to screw up my life the way that
  408. 17:02I screwed it up it took struggle day in
  409. 17:06and day out the amount of avoidance that
  410. 17:08I had to engage in was astronomical the
  411. 17:11amount of like I used to sneak out to my
  412. 17:16mailbox in the morning to steal my
  413. 17:19transcript so that my parents would not
  414. 17:21find it because if they found it there
  415. 17:25would be consequences and if there were
  416. 17:27consequences then I would change and if
  417. 17:30you really look at these self-loathing
  418. 17:32men of in action they work really really
  419. 17:35really hard to protect themselves of the
  420. 17:39consequences of their
  421. 17:41inaction I'm going to avoid these people
  422. 17:43for the the holidays I'm not going to
  423. 17:45show up I'm just going to ghost you work
  424. 17:48really really hard to avoid the
  425. 17:50consequences of your life when you shut
  426. 17:53off your emotions and you shut off the
  427. 17:55consequences of your life what ends up
  428. 17:57happening you propagate along the same
  429. 18:00path right you're removing the things
  430. 18:03that stimulate what you would call
  431. 18:05Action make sense so this is not
  432. 18:09inaction this is an immense amount of
  433. 18:11action a lot of action very difficult
  434. 18:14action that's why it's so hard that's
  435. 18:15why it's so draining and the more that
  436. 18:18you numb yourself the more that your
  437. 18:19trash can starts to overflow and then
  438. 18:22you have to like you know cover it up
  439. 18:23with all kinds of things now I'm going
  440. 18:24to fill a whole room of my house with
  441. 18:27trash I'm going to open the door and I'm
  442. 18:29going to throw trash in and I'm going to
  443. 18:30close it up so if you really stop and
  444. 18:32think about it what you will discover is
  445. 18:35that you are taking all kinds of mental
  446. 18:38actions you are running away from things
  447. 18:41all the time all the time you're running
  448. 18:44running running running running you're
  449. 18:45so busy running away from everything
  450. 18:47that you can't have anything to run
  451. 18:49towards right so achieving goals
  452. 18:51building a life worth living is about
  453. 18:52running towards something not running
  454. 18:54away from something for the most part
  455. 18:57and then you end up with this life
  456. 18:59so what do you do about this the first
  457. 19:01thing is to do less so in my case I went
  458. 19:04to India for 3 months and did a whole
  459. 19:06lot of truly nothing to receive what the
  460. 19:10world sends your way to start to respond
  461. 19:13to it don't try to steer the course of
  462. 19:16your life anymore let the the fruit that
  463. 19:20you have been cultivating Harvest it see
  464. 19:24as you start to do less the consequences
  465. 19:27will start manifesting and you have to
  466. 19:28absorb all of those
  467. 19:30consequences it feels like it's too much
  468. 19:34but it's not too much right all you have
  469. 19:37to do is actually nothing just let it
  470. 19:41come in my case you know my parents
  471. 19:43would call me and I would avoid
  472. 19:46answering the phone because I didn't
  473. 19:47want to talk to them answer the phone
  474. 19:50right see ignoring a phone call is an
  475. 19:52action ignoring a text message is an
  476. 19:54action you look at the thing and you
  477. 19:56literally shut it off and then you turn
  478. 19:58to something something else you do
  479. 19:59something to distract your mind okay so
  480. 20:04if you want to know why people get stuck
  481. 20:08I want to show you all the paper so this
  482. 20:10is from a section on recovering from
  483. 20:12trauma right so if we look at someone
  484. 20:14who let's say is a self-loathing man of
  485. 20:16inaction there are all kinds of events
  486. 20:19in the past that have scarred them these
  487. 20:22people are essentially traumatized so
  488. 20:24let's look at how we go about recovering
  489. 20:27from trauma so here will be eye opening
  490. 20:30okay identified three factors that are
  491. 20:32associated with both natural recovery
  492. 20:34from trauma and reduction of PTSD
  493. 20:36severity via exposure therapy the first
  494. 20:39factor is emotional engagement with the
  495. 20:42trauma
  496. 20:44memory um in natural recovery emotional
  497. 20:47engagement refers to fear activation
  498. 20:49that occurs when one one when one
  499. 20:51encounters a trauma reminder in the
  500. 20:53natural
  501. 20:55environment uh fear activation has been
  502. 20:57found to be POS positively associated
  503. 21:00with treatment outcome we hypothesize
  504. 21:03that a lack of emotional engagement
  505. 21:06would be associated with poor natural
  506. 21:09recovery following a traumatic event
  507. 21:13dissociative symptoms such as feelings
  508. 21:14of deep realization depersonalization
  509. 21:17during or following trauma or amnesia
  510. 21:19for information related to the trauma
  511. 21:22have been conceptualized strategies that
  512. 21:24reduce emotional engagement right so
  513. 21:26when we dissociate we are reducing
  514. 21:28emotional engagement so reduction of
  515. 21:31emotional engagement several studies
  516. 21:33have found that peritraumatic
  517. 21:34dissociation is associated with more
  518. 21:37severe PTSD the more you dissociate the
  519. 21:40worse you
  520. 21:41get okay now here's what's really
  521. 21:43interesting consistent with this
  522. 21:45hypothesis individuals whose Peak
  523. 21:47symptom severity occurred within two
  524. 21:50weeks of the traumatic event were less
  525. 21:53symptomatic 14 weeks later so the more
  526. 21:57it hurts in the faster it hurts the
  527. 22:00better off you will be individuals whose
  528. 22:03symptoms peaked between two and six
  529. 22:05weeks after the event had more severe
  530. 22:08symptoms you all understand the more it
  531. 22:11hurts the better you get and our
  532. 22:14self-loathing man of inaction is still
  533. 22:19delaying the emotions from middle
  534. 22:22school yall see
  535. 22:24that interesting no so if you want to
  536. 22:30heal you must
  537. 22:34stop whatever thoughts come whatever
  538. 22:37emotions come let them
  539. 22:39come they're just thoughts they're just
  540. 22:42emotions they are not
  541. 22:44truth this is another big problem that
  542. 22:47self-loathing men of inaction have they
  543. 22:51believe that their mind is connected to
  544. 22:54the real world this will happen and this
  545. 22:57will happen and this will happen this is
  546. 22:58just a thought it is an emotion it's not
  547. 23:03reality right and you get so caught up
  548. 23:06in wanting wishing all this kind of
  549. 23:08stuff that you don't act there's
  550. 23:10something that's messed up in the
  551. 23:12dopaminergic circuitry where wanting
  552. 23:15normally stimulates action but in these
  553. 23:18people something interesting has
  554. 23:20happened so there are a couple of big
  555. 23:23problems that happen with self-loathing
  556. 23:25men of in action and one is that they
  557. 23:28open energic circuitry gets miswired
  558. 23:31okay and it has to do with this kind of
  559. 23:33suppression but let's understand this so
  560. 23:36normally we have this thing called the
  561. 23:37nucleus succumbent which releases
  562. 23:40dopamine and then dopamine does a couple
  563. 23:43of things okay so we got to understand
  564. 23:45this the first is that it induces
  565. 23:47Cravings now here's what's really
  566. 23:48interesting if we look at our dopamine
  567. 23:51over time when we have a craving we
  568. 23:55actually get the craving itself
  569. 23:57increases dop
  570. 23:59and there are a couple there's one
  571. 24:00really interesting reason for that so I
  572. 24:02don't know if youall know this but
  573. 24:04Parkinson's disease is a disease of
  574. 24:07movement right so they have things like
  575. 24:09Cog wheel rigidity they have difficulty
  576. 24:11walking and the treatment for uh Co
  577. 24:14Parkinson's disease is something called
  578. 24:16L Doopa so we give these people dopamine
  579. 24:19L Doopa crosses the bloodb brain barrier
  580. 24:22that's why it's l Doopa and it's
  581. 24:23converted to dopamine and then their
  582. 24:25ability to move increases so dop me not
  583. 24:29only triggers Cravings it also triggers
  584. 24:31movement right so then what happens so
  585. 24:33now I'm triggering
  586. 24:35movement and then this will result in
  587. 24:37action and then dopamine will start and
  588. 24:39then once I act or my action is
  589. 24:42completed then I will get a big spike of
  590. 24:44dopamine right so I want something that
  591. 24:47initiates a behavioral change and then
  592. 24:49once I engage in that behavior I'll get
  593. 24:52a big spike of dopamine now for people
  594. 24:54like this this is what I've sort of
  595. 24:55observed as a clinician there is another
  596. 24:57thing that starts to happen for some
  597. 25:00reason when I get a craving when I get a
  598. 25:02wanting of something right and then I
  599. 25:05want dopamine there's another kind of
  600. 25:08neurological thing that sort of happens
  601. 25:10so something about this wanting through
  602. 25:13associative learning also triggers an
  603. 25:16emotional response and this is usually a
  604. 25:18negative emotion so now our limic system
  605. 25:21gets activated so when so if we go back
  606. 25:24to our man of learning right so it hurts
  607. 25:27when I smile
  608. 25:29things can only get worse a little bit
  609. 25:30of Hope is a dangerous thing so as this
  610. 25:35person strives for something right they
  611. 25:38have a wanting a parallel circuit some
  612. 25:41kind of Association has been created in
  613. 25:43the brain where they have a negative
  614. 25:45emotional response hopeless now your
  615. 25:49brain looks at this situation and says
  616. 25:53we are wanting dopamine and we have
  617. 25:56hopelessness so the brain remember the
  618. 25:59brain is not working against you it's
  619. 26:00just trying to do what it knows how to
  620. 26:02do so it says we want some dopamine and
  621. 26:05we're feeling hopeless what should we do
  622. 26:07then we get driven towards inaction but
  623. 26:12this is not inaction we're going to do
  624. 26:15something like play Vidya so Vidya is
  625. 26:18going to suppress our limic system and
  626. 26:21it is going to give us dopamine you
  627. 26:24understand you get two for one so I want
  628. 26:28a girlfriend I want a job the absence of
  629. 26:32these things is going to trigger
  630. 26:34shame and now our brain is like okay we
  631. 26:37need dopamine and we need to shut off
  632. 26:39our emotional circuitry so we're going
  633. 26:41to do this and now I've taken an action
  634. 26:46instead of actually resolving these
  635. 26:49problems I've taken an action now what
  636. 26:52started happening is I recruit the endoc
  637. 26:55canabo circuitry and I'm forming a habit
  638. 26:59now what my brain has learned so the
  639. 27:01next time that I want
  640. 27:03something this
  641. 27:05becomes a behavioral cue that triggers a
  642. 27:09neurological
  643. 27:11response which then triggers an action
  644. 27:15which then satisfies the issue and so
  645. 27:17over time these habitual men these men
  646. 27:20of
  647. 27:21inaction are habituated right they have
  648. 27:24a habit of waking up every day and doing
  649. 27:28the same thing right every day feels the
  650. 27:31same late 20s early 30s what's the
  651. 27:36difference 6 years s years it's all the
  652. 27:39same every day your life is the same
  653. 27:42because you repeat the same actions over
  654. 27:44and over and again it's not in action
  655. 27:46it's lots of action and now you have
  656. 27:49built up an immense amount of karma
  657. 27:51because you have been engaging in this
  658. 27:54habitual Q response dopaminergic
  659. 27:58emotional suppression you've engaged in
  660. 28:00this stuff day after day after day after
  661. 28:03day after day after day after day and
  662. 28:06remember that your brain when neurons
  663. 28:09fire frequently they strengthen their
  664. 28:13connections this is associate of
  665. 28:15learning and so now your neurons are
  666. 28:17very well grooved it's like when you
  667. 28:20have a game Trail right so you have a
  668. 28:23field of grass and then a Mouse runs
  669. 28:25across and flattens some grass and then
  670. 28:27you you have a rabbit that looks at the
  671. 28:29grass and sees oh there's some flattened
  672. 28:30grass here let me run across it and then
  673. 28:32the rabbit goes on that slightly
  674. 28:34flattened grass flattens it more then
  675. 28:37you get like a deer that walks down
  676. 28:39there and then you get a bison that
  677. 28:41walks down there and then suddenly you
  678. 28:43have a game Trail and it becomes really
  679. 28:45really really easy to walk down the game
  680. 28:48Trail this is what happens in these
  681. 28:49people so how do you
  682. 28:52change so we're going to do a couple of
  683. 28:54things so there are two modes of
  684. 28:57changing if you want to fix this one is
  685. 29:00the more classic way right you take
  686. 29:03small actions go to therapy work on
  687. 29:06yourself start journaling meditate
  688. 29:09whatever but honestly with the people
  689. 29:12that I've worked with there is a
  690. 29:15degenerate way to transform your life
  691. 29:19and I would call this going unab Bunga
  692. 29:22see small changes for people like this
  693. 29:25are hard because there's such a weight
  694. 29:29of
  695. 29:30like habit and all this kind of stuff
  696. 29:34like you got to go
  697. 29:36anganga so you got to go like all in on
  698. 29:39one strategy I'm not saying this is the
  699. 29:41best way it's just what I've seen and
  700. 29:44people are talking about monk mode like
  701. 29:46literally that's what I did right I
  702. 29:48became I mean I didn't become I tried to
  703. 29:50become monk but I went through monk
  704. 29:52training you have to have a whole scale
  705. 29:56transformation of your life which is
  706. 29:59surprisingly
  707. 30:01easier than people think it is so what I
  708. 30:05would say is you start to become a
  709. 30:07little bit more
  710. 30:08aesthetic not a little bit more we're
  711. 30:10going to go unab banga we're going to
  712. 30:12put all our points in strength we're
  713. 30:14going to wield two great clubs no
  714. 30:17Cosmetics no [ __ ] flask no [ __ ]
  715. 30:20buff none of this like optimize your
  716. 30:22life kind of thing and like none of that
  717. 30:25stuff we're going to go hard and the
  718. 30:28reason that we need to go hard is
  719. 30:30because we do not want to trigger those
  720. 30:31behavioral cues so what I
  721. 30:34would
  722. 30:36consider right a couple of things so the
  723. 30:39first thing about going unab banga is
  724. 30:42that you need to go see a doctor and you
  725. 30:43need to make sure that something about
  726. 30:45your life is not like problematic so I
  727. 30:48would start with a medical evaluation
  728. 30:50you may need things like mental health
  729. 30:51treatment if you've got a mood disorder
  730. 30:52or things like that going anganga
  731. 30:55requires no like significant Medical
  732. 30:58debuffs so I would go get a full
  733. 31:01physical and get some kind of mental
  734. 31:02status exam get evaluated for whatever
  735. 31:04illnesses now this is where we got to be
  736. 31:06careful because I want yall to pay
  737. 31:09attention to what your response to that
  738. 31:12is so when I say go do this thing what a
  739. 31:15lot of people will do is their mind will
  740. 31:17have a response I can't do this thing
  741. 31:20because of this I can't do this thing I
  742. 31:22can't afford a doctor I can't do this I
  743. 31:24can't do this it's hard for me blah
  744. 31:26whatever I'm not saying that any of
  745. 31:28those things are true this is where we
  746. 31:30have to like understand something else
  747. 31:32about the Mind where do thoughts come
  748. 31:34from so when we have a
  749. 31:38circuit that gets
  750. 31:41dopamine and suppresses emotions and has
  751. 31:45habits and I tell you to do something
  752. 31:48else these circuits of the brain will
  753. 31:51then go and create thoughts this is what
  754. 31:54happens in an addict's brain right so I
  755. 31:56want yall to understand this the
  756. 31:58thoughts in your head are not correct or
  757. 32:01they're not they're not incorrect but
  758. 32:03the thoughts in your head like where do
  759. 32:05the I don't know if this makes any sense
  760. 32:06so I'm going to try Okay so just like
  761. 32:07bear with me this is [ __ ] weird but
  762. 32:09like y'all got to think okay where do
  763. 32:12the thoughts in your head come from
  764. 32:14people will say oh the thoughts in my
  765. 32:16head come from truth but think about it
  766. 32:20for a second I'm talking about the
  767. 32:21mechanism why does your so there are
  768. 32:23times in your life where you've had good
  769. 32:25experiences and you've had bad
  770. 32:27experiences
  771. 32:28why do you think about the bad
  772. 32:30experiences why is it that that's the
  773. 32:32thing that floats from the unconscious
  774. 32:34into your conscious mind at a particular
  775. 32:36moment do you understand that a part of
  776. 32:37your brain is making that selection a
  777. 32:40part of your brain is choosing what to
  778. 32:43open up on your desktop the biggest
  779. 32:46mistake that we make in life is we
  780. 32:48assume that the things that our brain
  781. 32:52produces are because they are true this
  782. 32:55is factually false you can look at
  783. 32:58psychological defense mechanisms you can
  784. 33:01look at cognitive biases and depression
  785. 33:03you look you can look at trauma you can
  786. 33:05look at associative learning you can
  787. 33:07look at all kinds of conditioning it has
  788. 33:09nothing to do with truth it has to do
  789. 33:11with which part of your brain is running
  790. 33:14the show because your brain is trying to
  791. 33:16motivate a behavior remember there's no
  792. 33:18inaction there is only action everything
  793. 33:21you do is an action even sitting still
  794. 33:23is an action so which part of your brain
  795. 33:26is running the show
  796. 33:28that part of your brain will float
  797. 33:30whatever thoughts are necessary to get
  798. 33:34you to to create the motivation to move
  799. 33:37you in the direction that that part of
  800. 33:39the brain wants to go
  801. 33:41in and this stupidity of the brain is
  802. 33:46evolutionary so great example of this is
  803. 33:49falling in love so when we fall in love
  804. 33:53there is a part of our brain that goes
  805. 33:55to the risk assess ment portion there's
  806. 33:59a part of our brain that calculates risk
  807. 34:02the part of our brain that falls in love
  808. 34:04goes and shuts that down so when you
  809. 34:07start dating someone and you are madly
  810. 34:10in love and your friends and family are
  811. 34:13like I kind of see some red flags here
  812. 34:16you're like I don't see red flags you're
  813. 34:20wrong and then when you look back on it
  814. 34:23oh yeah there were red flags I don't
  815. 34:24know why I didn't see them you didn't
  816. 34:25see them because that part of your brain
  817. 34:27was shut off because there was another
  818. 34:28part of your brain that is running the
  819. 34:30show so you have a thought but don't for
  820. 34:34a moment think that your thought
  821. 34:36correlates with truth and there's a
  822. 34:38really simple way to understand this a
  823. 34:41hopeless man of inaction the
  824. 34:43self-loathing man of in action looks in
  825. 34:45the future and sees no hope I am blown
  826. 34:49away by this they're like yeah nothing
  827. 34:52will ever get better in my life holy
  828. 34:54[ __ ] this is amazing there like what
  829. 34:58what do you mean I've never met a human
  830. 35:00being that can see the future
  831. 35:03wow you should use your power for good
  832. 35:06if you can see the future no one can see
  833. 35:09the future it's just thoughts now those
  834. 35:12thoughts are there for a reason they
  835. 35:14will give me
  836. 35:15justifications they'll say well this
  837. 35:17happened this happened this happened the
  838. 35:19past happened this way therefore the
  839. 35:22future happened this way if it worked
  840. 35:24like that the stock market would be easy
  841. 35:27and this is the crazy thing so we take a
  842. 35:29karmic perspective the past happened
  843. 35:31that way is not deterministic I mean in
  844. 35:34a sense it's deterministic but the past
  845. 35:37happened that way because of what you
  846. 35:39did your actions created that past you
  847. 35:42did not ask that person out that is why
  848. 35:46you hold on to the regret from mid
  849. 35:48middle school so the future that lays in
  850. 35:51front of you is not determined by the
  851. 35:55past it is determined by what you do now
  852. 35:58if you want a different future take a
  853. 36:02different action and people will say but
  854. 36:05I can't well now we're doesn't work
  855. 36:09where does that thought come from which
  856. 36:12part of your brain is producing that
  857. 36:14thought I can't change because here's
  858. 36:17the thing you guys want to know F if
  859. 36:20we're talking about a map hack not an
  860. 36:22app Mac map hack an aim hack the part of
  861. 36:26your brain that is addicted to video
  862. 36:29games has one trump card to play it'll
  863. 36:33convince you that you canot change your
  864. 36:36life and the moment that your addiction
  865. 36:40convinces you that you can't change what
  866. 36:44does it get to
  867. 36:47do 100% I worked for a couple of years
  868. 36:51in addiction Psychiatry the most common
  869. 36:54cognitive pattern that I saw was an
  870. 36:56addict's brain convincing them that they
  871. 36:59can't change because the moment it
  872. 37:01convinces you that you can't change do
  873. 37:04you just sit on your ass and do nothing
  874. 37:07no you get
  875. 37:09high do you see so this is what yall
  876. 37:12need to understand don't look at the
  877. 37:15content of your mind look at the
  878. 37:17direction of your mind look at your mind
  879. 37:20and ask
  880. 37:21yourself if my mind says this what does
  881. 37:25this mean what does this drive drive me
  882. 37:27toward what direction is it pointing and
  883. 37:30what you will see if you are a
  884. 37:31self-loathing man of in action is that
  885. 37:34all of your thoughts point in One
  886. 37:36Direction which you think is in action
  887. 37:39but is not in action because you're not
  888. 37:41actually sitting on your ass you're
  889. 37:43sitting on your phone or you are sitting
  890. 37:45on your ass which is an action it is all
  891. 37:48of the
  892. 37:49justifications that allow you to act in
  893. 37:52an inert Manner and if you pay attention
  894. 37:55to yourself you'll find there are pulls
  895. 37:58for you to move out of there the other
  896. 38:01parts of your brain are screaming at you
  897. 38:03let's do something else let's do
  898. 38:04something else and the other parts of
  899. 38:06your brain they try they try to be angry
  900. 38:08with you they try selflove they try
  901. 38:11listening to a Buddhist podcast they try
  902. 38:14so many things all of these there's 99
  903. 38:17people in your brain that are screaming
  904. 38:18at you to do something else the problem
  905. 38:21is that only one person has the
  906. 38:23megaphone and so you continue to create
  907. 38:26this life every day that you live it
  908. 38:29because you act and these have
  909. 38:31consequences so what do you do about
  910. 38:33this so good news is that even the
  911. 38:36revelation of this is actually
  912. 38:38sufficient if you guys want to know what
  913. 38:40the real answer is the awareness
  914. 38:43the how can I say this the
  915. 38:48zealous emphasis on awareness is enough
  916. 38:51to crack this cycle if you sit and you
  917. 38:54look at yourself and you look at all
  918. 38:56these thoughts the more that you st
  919. 38:57study them
  920. 38:59these patterns will
  921. 39:02disappear okay I know a lot of people
  922. 39:04don't believe that but I really believe
  923. 39:05that to be true there's one really
  924. 39:06simple part of reason for this remember
  925. 39:09that a lot of your actions and thoughts
  926. 39:11are habitual so the thing about the
  927. 39:14endoc canabo circuitry The Habit
  928. 39:16circuitry is the Habit circuitry is not
  929. 39:19active when you were aware the whole
  930. 39:22point of Habitual action it is action
  931. 39:24done without awareness it is put on
  932. 39:26autopilot you can't be autopilot and be
  933. 39:30aware at the same time so if there's any
  934. 39:33autopilot Behavior you have the more you
  935. 39:36increase awareness literally a a
  936. 39:39separate part of your brain activates
  937. 39:42the endoc canabo circuitry is your habit
  938. 39:44circuitry the awareness circuitry
  939. 39:46involves your anterior singulate cortex
  940. 39:48and your anterior singulate cortex is
  941. 39:50also where willpower comes from
  942. 39:53awareness and willpower come from
  943. 39:54activation of the same part of the brain
  944. 39:57and if you kind of think about it that
  945. 39:58makes sense right so if I have a habit
  946. 40:00it requires no willpower and has no
  947. 40:03awareness the moment that I start
  948. 40:06exerting willpower you cannot exert
  949. 40:09willpower without awareness does that
  950. 40:11make sense too I want youall to stop and
  951. 40:12think about that for a second anytime
  952. 40:14you exert willpower you are aware it's
  953. 40:17like I want to pick this up with my
  954. 40:19right hand but instead I need to force
  955. 40:21myself to pick it up with my left
  956. 40:24hand awareness and willpower not only go
  957. 40:28hand in hand they are
  958. 40:29neuroscientifically the same
  959. 40:32thing staggering yogis have known this
  960. 40:35for thousands of years you don't need to
  961. 40:37fix your problems you just need to be
  962. 40:38aware of them there's a great uh we have
  963. 40:41a a video all about that too about how
  964. 40:44willpower and awareness are one and the
  965. 40:46same thing okay so awareness is
  966. 40:48sufficient but we're going to talk about
  967. 40:50unab banga mode so what I would do is
  968. 40:52first go to a doctor and then your mind
  969. 40:54will come up with all kinds of problems
  970. 40:56that's fine it's not that those problems
  971. 40:58don't exist those are just problems to
  972. 41:00be solved right so if you say oh I don't
  973. 41:02have a doctor well like then you should
  974. 41:04Google search something in your area and
  975. 41:05sign up well I don't have insurance I
  976. 41:07can't afford a doctor well then you
  977. 41:09should Google search how do I get
  978. 41:10medical care if I have no insurance or I
  979. 41:13have no money right so each
  980. 41:16objection that your mind raises is a
  981. 41:20task to be completed and watch what
  982. 41:22happens okay I'm going to tell youall
  983. 41:23what'll happen each thing that happens
  984. 41:25once your mind once your brain learns
  985. 41:28that you're doing this it will start to
  986. 41:31pull out other tools right so it's like
  987. 41:33you're playing sf6 and you're blocking
  988. 41:36all the time so your brain is going to
  989. 41:37use a throw so then suddenly you'll
  990. 41:39notice something very interesting you
  991. 41:42feel
  992. 41:42tired you'll do it tomorrow see the
  993. 41:45first and watch okay because the your
  994. 41:48brain in this way is going to be kind of
  995. 41:49like that the liquid thing in Terminator
  996. 41:522 that changes shapes right it's like
  997. 41:54the mimic tier where once you you start
  998. 41:57doing this your brain will adapt it'll
  999. 42:00say oh my God this guy isn't when I tell
  1000. 42:03him it's not going to work it's not
1001. 42:04working anymore so now what I'm going to
  1002. 42:06do is I'm going to create energia I'm
1003. 42:09going to reduce his energy level because
1004. 42:11it's running the show it's going to
1005. 42:13places like your reticular activating
1006. 42:15formation it says make this guy tired
1007. 42:18and the reticular activating formation
1008. 42:19says I I sir we are now tired we cannot
1009. 42:22do this today and it will tell you this
1010. 42:24look at the Direction look at the
  1011. 42:27Direction you'll feel all kinds of
1012. 42:29things all sorts of stuff and then that
1013. 42:31won't work you force yourself to do it
1014. 42:33and then what will the Mind do the mind
1015. 42:34will be like oh my God why didn't you do
  1016. 42:36this a long time ago now that we're
1017. 42:38moving in the right direction you should
1018. 42:40have done this if only you had done this
1019. 42:41eight years ago then you wouldn't be
1020. 42:44here it twists and it turns it changes
1021. 42:48shape and it always wants you to move in
  1022. 42:50the wrong
1023. 42:51direction watch it it'll happen this is
1024. 42:55why you need to be Ste
1025. 42:58stable steady you will win this is a war
1026. 43:02that your brain cannot win all it can do
1027. 43:05is get you to surrender if it fights it
1028. 43:08will lose 100% of the time all it can do
1029. 43:11is Trick you into surrendering and it
1030. 43:13will try time and time and time again so
1031. 43:16this is enough honestly we'll give you
1032. 43:19more so once you look at all the
1033. 43:21different things just notice what
1034. 43:23happens and the the conception that I
1035. 43:25would even offer is like think about
1036. 43:27about it like an external object think
  1037. 43:29about it like a
1038. 43:30demon that is trying to tempt you away
1039. 43:34from fixing your life and it will use
1040. 43:38your brain against you so what you need
1041. 43:40to do is just notice these things notice
1042. 43:42as much as you can notice the direction
1043. 43:45now the reason we say start with a
1044. 43:46doctor is because there could be certain
1045. 43:48things that are physiologically not
1046. 43:50working for you if you have anemia if
1047. 43:52you have obstructive sleep apnea if you
  1048. 43:55have vitamin D deficiency if you have a
1049. 43:57thyroid problem there are many common
1050. 43:59things that will lead to low mood and
1051. 44:02low energy we have to deal with those
1052. 44:04things if you have something like a
1053. 44:06full-fledged mood disorder you may need
1054. 44:09some kind of pharmacologic treatment
1055. 44:10Psychotherapy whatever so engage with
1056. 44:12that that's step number one step number
1057. 44:14two find yourself some duct tape and
1058. 44:17duct tape out a square that is maybe
  1059. 44:20anywhere from 6 ft by 6 ft to 8X 10 or
  1060. 44:25whatever create a space
1061. 44:27that is going to be your temple take a
1062. 44:30sleeping bag take a pillow lay down
1063. 44:33there that is where you sleep from now
1064. 44:35on that is where you exist from now on
1065. 44:39spend as much as of your time as you can
  1066. 44:42in this 6x6 Square okay we'll talk about
1067. 44:45leaving the house but in your home look
1068. 44:47at all of the places you go that result
  1069. 44:51in your quote unquote inaction we're
1070. 44:53going to stay away from the these places
1071. 44:55I really like a patch on the floor so
1072. 44:59I'm going to study there I'm going to
1073. 45:01sleep there I'm going to do calisthenics
1074. 45:02there you're going to exist in that
1075. 45:05space right you're going to leave the
1076. 45:07place if you need groceries you need to
1077. 45:08use the bathroom you need a shower you
1078. 45:09need to go to work like whatever if
1079. 45:10there's a fire in the building get out
1080. 45:12but as much of your time as you can you
1081. 45:14are going to exist in that square and
1082. 45:17this is where you have to be kind of
1083. 45:18careful because your mind will want you
1084. 45:20to get out of the square oh I need to do
1085. 45:21this I need to do this I need to do this
1086. 45:23I'm bored here so be it the action that
1087. 45:26we are going to take is developing a
  1088. 45:29resistance to boredom we're going to
1089. 45:31tank that boredom damage so in my case
  1090. 45:34what I did was I slept there I exercised
  1091. 45:37there I did yoga there I meditated there
1092. 45:40so you start to exist I even read there
  1093. 45:42as much as I
  1094. 45:43could I also had a small table without
1095. 45:46without a chair so I moved out of there
1096. 45:47and I would do my work there this is
1097. 45:49also where you got to go hard on the
1098. 45:51devices so it's time to do it uninstall
1099. 45:54all of the extraneous things why watch
1100. 45:57the direction of your mind as it tries
1101. 45:58to tell you oh we need this for work so
1102. 46:02I'd say anything that can be done on a
1103. 46:03computer should not be done on your
1104. 46:05phone if you absolutely need it on your
  1105. 46:07phone that's one thing remove everything
1106. 46:09else change your phone to grayscale
1107. 46:12uninstall all of the extraneous software
1108. 46:15off of your computer install a an app
1109. 46:18that blocks whatever websites you waste
1110. 46:20your time on do all of these things
1111. 46:23right so these things can be done within
  1112. 46:2530 minutes that's that's all it takes
1113. 46:27fixing your Tech is going to be 30
1114. 46:29minutes that's it now notice all the
1115. 46:32Rebellion that will happen in your mind
1116. 46:33you're worried about cracking and all
1117. 46:35that kind of crap whatever now we're
  1118. 46:37going anganga 99 points in strength
1119. 46:39nothing else no Cosmetics no this no
1120. 46:42don't worry about that next thing that
1121. 46:45we need to do is fix our diet unab
1122. 46:47bangas don't eat that trash that you eat
1123. 46:49they eat anganga food simple food poor
1124. 46:52people food rice beans vegetables maybe
1125. 46:55some seasoning if you want it food is no
  1126. 46:57longer a source of
  1127. 46:59pleasure food is
  1128. 47:02sustenance you're eating for survival
1129. 47:04you are eating you're no longer living
1130. 47:06to eat you are eating to live so it
1131. 47:09should be nutritious rice beans veggies
1132. 47:12fruits ideally nothing processed right
  1133. 47:14so you don't need Twinkies you don't
  1134. 47:16need chips you don't need frozen food I
  1135. 47:18mean if you need it that's a different
1136. 47:20story frozen veggies you know seasoning
1137. 47:23is like fine if you want to do some of
1138. 47:24it but you don't usually need seasoning
1139. 47:26there's some good micronutrients and
1140. 47:28stuff in seasoning if you want to use
1141. 47:29herbs and stuff whatever people are
1142. 47:31asking about meat ideally less so some
1143. 47:35meat is okay eggs are okay don't really
1144. 47:38need cheese milk I guess is okay this is
1145. 47:41unab banga mode and then it is the
1146. 47:44tolerance of these things that's it if
1147. 47:46you have to go to work you go to work
1148. 47:47people will say but what about goals
1149. 47:49what about this what about this what
1150. 47:50about this well that stuff will come you
1151. 47:53do this for a weekend do it for a week
1152. 47:56do it I mean if you need to go to work
1153. 47:58that's a different story if you need to
1154. 48:00go get groceries go get groceries but
1155. 48:01when you go to the grocery store it's
  1156. 48:03not about
1157. 48:04pleasure and what I want youall to do
1158. 48:06when you enter unab banga mode is just
1159. 48:09notice your mind and your mind will get
  1160. 48:13desperate it'll use all kinds of
1161. 48:15techniques to get you to stop it'll
1162. 48:18Twist and Turn you'll if you are develop
1163. 48:21your good awareness you will see it
1164. 48:24panicking and when it starts to Panic
  1165. 48:27you know you're winning you've always
1166. 48:30been winning you can always win the only
1167. 48:32time you lose is when you surrender and
1168. 48:34then people will ask this is another
1169. 48:36tool the mind will use they'll say for
  1170. 48:37how
1171. 48:38long until you're done right so this is
1172. 48:42another technique that the Mind uses to
1173. 48:45Foster in action it adds the dimension
1174. 48:48of time I should have done it a long
1175. 48:51time ago this is never going to work how
  1176. 48:54long do I have to keep this up I can't
1177. 48:56keep this up forever in all of those
1178. 48:58things what is the direction abandon
1179. 49:01your efforts One Direction you look at
1180. 49:04the direction it's one way right now you
1181. 49:07don't you want to make sure your diet
1182. 49:08doesn't have things like nutritional
1183. 49:09deficiencies and stuff like that so be
1184. 49:11safe be healthy but this is something
1185. 49:14that you can do today find your 6x6
1186. 49:17Square learn yoga do ASA every day do
1187. 49:21pranam every day sit and meditate get
1188. 49:24yourself a set of prayer beads and do
  1189. 49:26home chanting for 108 rounds very
1190. 49:30simple chant oh 108 times every single
1191. 49:35day now when you do this kind of stuff
1192. 49:37this is really important the reason that
1193. 49:39we go in this drastic way is we want to
1194. 49:41remove all of our cues so do whatever
1195. 49:45you can to remove the cues that lead to
  1196. 49:47bad behavior uninstall
1197. 49:50Discord log out of the extraneous stuff
1198. 49:56go to a different grocery store very
1199. 49:59important and then your life will be
1200. 50:01different you want to transform your
1201. 50:04life into a temple devoted to you now
1202. 50:08this word devotion is important see
1203. 50:11devotion is done towards someone else so
1204. 50:14all of the actions that you take you are
1205. 50:17the actor is going to receive zero
1206. 50:19dopamine zero benefit from it someone
1207. 50:22else will receive the benefit of it
1208. 50:24that's what we mean it's almost like
1209. 50:26fragment yourself into the object of
1210. 50:28your devotion and if we really think
1211. 50:31about it the self-loathing man of in
1212. 50:32action is the other way around every
1213. 50:35action that is taken is for the benefit
1214. 50:38of the doer so I'm going to skip school
1215. 50:40today so that I can stay home and play
1216. 50:43video games that benefits the me doesn't
1217. 50:47benefit future me devote yourself to
1218. 50:50your benefit and recognize that you will
1219. 50:53never see the benefit of this
1220. 50:57right the person who is the actor gets
1221. 50:59nothing this is what gurus were really
  1222. 51:02good at teaching that we've lost we've
  1223. 51:04become so
1224. 51:06selfish see when we have a society that
1225. 51:09advocates for me first how is your brain
1226. 51:12supposed to know which part of me first
1227. 51:14is good and which part is bad if it's
1228. 51:17all about me me me me me then video
  1229. 51:19games dopamine pornography drugs
1230. 51:21whatever that's me my benefit now here
1231. 51:24now we're all shortterm and all about me
1232. 51:27so what do we expect there's no sense of
  1233. 51:30community there's no sense of the
1234. 51:32greater good right and why do we say
1235. 51:34this well that person over there doesn't
  1236. 51:36give a [ __ ] about the greater good so
  1237. 51:37why should I why should I do something
1238. 51:40that benefits someone else if it doesn't
1239. 51:42benefit me if they're not going to do
  1240. 51:44the same there's no reciprocity so I'm
1241. 51:46not going to do it absolutely that's the
  1242. 51:48nature of the world you're prioritizing
  1243. 51:50yourself you're doing the same thing
  1244. 51:52that they're doing we're all doing the
1245. 51:54same thing that's why the world is in
1246. 51:55the shitty state that it's in do
1247. 51:58something for someone else there are
1248. 52:00studies that show that people who are
1249. 52:03depressed who offer support feel better
1250. 52:07what do we see in our mental health
1251. 52:08spaces today venting venting venting
1252. 52:11it's all about my problems my problems
  1253. 52:13my problems I am hurt I am wounded I am
1254. 52:16a victim I need help just fair enough
1255. 52:20like it's my job as a medical doctor to
1256. 52:22help people who need help I get it I
1257. 52:25think it's good to help help people who
1258. 52:27need help and also just because you need
  1259. 52:30help doesn't mean that you can't give
1260. 52:32help I learned this doing Boston street
1261. 52:35team and working with homeless people
1262. 52:37the the most giving people on the planet
1263. 52:39are homeless people crazy you give one
1264. 52:42homeless dude five bucks instead of
  1265. 52:44buying two things for themselves they'll
1266. 52:46buy one thing for thems and one thing
1267. 52:48for their buddy most charitable people
1268. 52:51on the planet are homeless people so
1269. 52:53going back to anganga mode you do this
  1270. 52:56for
  1271. 52:57week and then you'll discover something
1272. 53:00that the action that you take creates
  1273. 53:04the life that you
1274. 53:05live see we think that our identity
1275. 53:10determines our actions those people are
1276. 53:13successful because they are winners and
  1277. 53:15I am unsuccessful because I am a loser
1278. 53:18our identity Narrows the scope of our
1279. 53:21the actions that we're allowed to take
1280. 53:23that's the truth of it so the action
1281. 53:26that you take determine who you are not
1282. 53:30the other way around so if you are a
1283. 53:32self-loathing man of an action that can
1284. 53:35change today through your action the
1285. 53:38self-loathing man of inaction became
1286. 53:41that way because of their actions the
1287. 53:43self-loathing man does not determine
1288. 53:45their actions it's the other way around
1289. 53:47and you propagate it through your
1290. 53:49actions every single day and this is why
1291. 53:52like a lot of people you know some
  1292. 53:55people think I'm prideful some people
  1293. 53:56think I am humble I'm neither I think
1294. 54:00maybe that's prideful to say who knows
  1295. 54:02so I don't know if youall notice what I
  1296. 54:03just did there I'm aware right so I
1297. 54:05don't know this is a statement from ego
  1298. 54:07not ego I don't know let's just be aware
  1299. 54:09of it maybe that's a statement of utter
  1300. 54:11ego maybe that's the most egotistical
  1301. 54:13I'm neither humble nor
  1302. 54:16egotistical I'm I've
  1303. 54:20transcended so I
1304. 54:22notice hopefully yall can notice with me
1305. 54:25and then I just just to be on the safe
1306. 54:27side I make fun of myself a little bit
1307. 54:29let's just be aware so I'm neither of
  1308. 54:31those things I'm just me I'm the same
1309. 54:33guy who failed out of college and I'm
1310. 54:34the same guy who was faculty at Harvard
1311. 54:35Medical School got an award of academic
  1312. 54:38achievement when I finished Medical
1313. 54:39School same kid same guy same human the
  1314. 54:42only difference is the
1315. 54:44actions that's the only difference so if
  1316. 54:47you're a self-loathing man of inaction
1317. 54:50take different actions and then you will
1318. 54:52become something else hey y'all hope you
