- 0:00The Shstreakland drama continues, guys.
- 0:04It continues since we learned that just
- 0:07before the title fight against Ramza
- 0:09Shimaev, the man signed a new six-fight
- 0:12contract with the UFC, if I'm not
- 0:14mistaken. So we're talking about last
- 0:17May. Understand what's going on.
- 0:20Obviously, guys, we're going to side
- 0:22with John Streakland, and with the UFC
- 0:24too, because we're not, I don't know,
- 0:25in a Manikin world where it's true that
- 0:27we can understand both points of view.
- 0:31And we can understand why, inevitably,
- 0:33things are stuck on the UFC's side as
- 0:34well as Shckland's side, but it's
- 0:36interesting information.
- 0:39>> Yes, interesting information. And by
- 0:41the way, I'm also taking this
- 0:42opportunity to say that I saw it in a
- 0:44Yahoo Sports article and even the guy
- 0:45who said it was Mike, it was Mike Bone.
- 0:48So these are guys who are trustworthy,
- 0:50apparently even you know the rumor that
- 0:53there was that he was on a contract of
- 0:55400 + 400 apparently those would be
- 0:57false figures. So he would be on more
- 1:00than that and that apparently the
- 1:04million that he would have received for
- 1:06against Ramzat apparently it would be
- 1:08on similar orders even for the five
- 1:10other fights of his contract. Street
- 1:16Fighter. To live is to fight. Fighting
- 1:19is living, in cinemas Oct 14th. So
- 1:21obviously guys, it's the classic on the
- 1:23UFC side. When you have a superstar, a
- 1:26guy like that, when he's going to come
- 1:27back or there's going to be a big
- 1:29deadline, you make him sign a big
- 1:30extension. It happened with Roré
- 1:32Masvidal. It happened with John Jones
- 1:35who was in big negotiations with the
- 1:37UFC just before coming back against
- 1:38Cyril where he signed for a very
- 1:39long-term deal. The same thing with
- 1:42Alex Perra too. Perra, who is very
- 1:45satisfied, and what is quite surprising
- 1:46in fact, and this is where I am quite
- 1:48surprised by Shakland's exit, is that
- 1:50generally speaking, it is a long-term
- 1:52contract which, yes, you can see it on
- 1:54the one hand, as the guys get the money
- 1:56they want, but they are completely tied
- 1:58to the UFC until the end of their
- 1:59career. In fact, the expert said, he
- 2:01won't go into boxing because he has
- 2:03eight or seven fights left to do, he
- 2:04will be 40 years old, so it is
- 2:05impossible for him to go into English
- 2:07boxing. But overall, in fact, the
- 2:09madness is that the UFC says, "OK, you
- 2:10get the money you want but basically
- 2:12you stay with us until the end." But
- 2:14what makes John Jones, John Jones,
- 2:16sorry, Alex Pereira and Masvidal, well
- 2:19there is no longer really any question
- 2:21of financial difficulty or financial
- 2:23negotiation because they are happy
- 2:25since they got the sums they wanted.
- 2:28With Shan Rckland, what surprises me is
- 2:30that he re-signed a long-term contract
- 2:32in May but unfortunately it doesn't
- 2:33seem to suit him, which is quite
- 2:35surprising, at least I have the
- 2:36impression that it's one of the first
- 2:38times that this has happened. Well, and
- 2:42then I think that's where we directly
- 2:44touch on the problem, the crux of the
- 2:46matter. But there are several things:
- 2:49first of all, before getting into the
- 2:51nitty-gritty, I don't think we can
- 2:53completely dismiss the fact that—he
- 2:55says it himself—Shakland is so
- 2:56volatile and unpredictable that
- 2:58tomorrow he might be like, "No,
- 2:59actually, what he said was annoying me,
- 3:01a little bit, it was annoying me
- 3:03because I'm hurt in every way and I'm
- 3:05fed up, but in reality, I'm fine, I
- 3:07have a good contract, honestly, that's
- 3:09fine, thingamajig." So I wouldn't even
- 3:13rule out that he'll have outings like
- 3:15that soon, but I don't think so. I'm
- 3:18not excusing him, but I don't think so.
- 3:20But the problem is that he signed a
- 3:22six-fight extension just before his
- 3:24title fight against Ramzat. So now he
- 3:28probably had only one fight left, or I
- 3:30don't know exactly where he was with
- 3:32his fight. Maybe with his contract,
- 3:33maybe more. But in any case, I think
- 3:36the reason he got the title fight
- 3:39against Ramzat is because he accepted
- 3:41the UFC's terms and conditions on this
- 3:44new six-fight contract. If he hadn't
- 3:48accepted, let's say he had, I don't
- 3:50know, I don't know, but maybe two
- 3:51fights left or something like that, if
- 3:53he had had the same demands, if he had
- 3:55really started to break balls like that
- 3:57and be super vocal and stuff, well the
- 3:59UFC would have done a Polo Costa and he
- 4:01would never have seen the light of day.
- 4:04And he would have even less seen the
- 4:06title fight against Ramzat.
- 4:09>> And yes, like what happened for the UFC
- 4:12with the Burns vs. Camar Wan that was
- 4:14initially planned and finally it was
- 4:16basically supposed to be Masvidal vs.
- 4:19Camar Ousman. Negotiations fail, Burn
- 4:22gets injured and then everyone finally
- 4:25agrees. New contract for Mass Vidal.
- 4:28I'm here. Yes. No, I totally agree. The
- 4:32thing is, we're in a really...The
- 4:33question I'm asking myself is: you have
- 4:36this fight, you have this title fight
- 4:38against Ramza Chimev. Is it because, I
- 4:40don't know, you know, for him, he was
- 4:41saying: "Anyway, I'm not going to be
- 4:42champion and I'm getting the money I
- 4:44need"? Finally, if we say that Shun
- 4:46Streckland, everything he says and here
- 4:48precisely the fact of being in this
- 4:50situation with the UFC each time, it's
- 4:52on his side, it's a course that he's
- 4:54going to maintain. I have a really hard
- 4:58time understanding that,
- 5:00>> really. I think it's more likely that
- 5:02it's a bit...and he...and he also said
- 5:03on Twitter, basically, that someone
- 5:05told him: "But dude, you just re-signed
- 5:07a long-term contract with the UFC, what
- 5:09the hell are you doing not wanting to
- 5:10be happy now when you're the one who
- 5:12signed it with your little hand?" And
- 5:15basically, Shan Streakland explained, "
- 5:16But in fact, you can't, well, this is
- 5:18something that maybe people don't know,
- 5:20but in fact, you sign the contract
- 5:22because you have no choice but to sign
- 5:24the contract." And I can understand
- 5:27that in the sense that, well, like what
- 5:29we were talking about just before, but
- 5:30there is clearly a world for me where
- 5:32he signed. Yes, so I imagine he signed
- 5:35for more than before. Well, that's for
- 5:38sure, but maybe not with what he wanted
- 5:40exactly. But he had to move forward, he
- 5:43had to fight, he wanted to fight and so
- 5:46he signed this contract knowing at the
- 5:48time that: "Okay, that's good, I'm
- 5:51happy" but, uh, without having 000 and
- 5:53100 either. And now that he's had this
- 5:56fight against Ramzat, that he's the
- 5:58champion, so he has even more leverage,
- 6:00who realizes that the end of his career
- 6:01is fast approaching, well right now, I
- 6:03think that he's thinking a lot more. "
- 6:05Oh yeah, but hey, I signed because the
- 6:07UFC..." And the UFC, I think, must have
- 6:09done the classic thing, huh, that is to
- 6:11say, tell him: "Well, in fact, here's
- 6:13what we're offering you, so we're
- 6:15giving you a raise of I don't know 100
- 6:17+ 100 or 200 + 200, but on the other
- 6:19hand, if you don't sign, oh well then
- 6:20man, we're going to screw you over,
- 6:22you're not going to get anything,
- 6:24you're going to stay like this, we're
- 6:26only going to offer you crappy fights."
- 6:28They didn't tell him like that
- 6:30obviously, I think, but it must have
- 6:32been, you know, they must have made him
- 6:34understand in a roundabout way that we
- 6:36won't let you go, we'll never let you
- 6:39go. There won't be any "I'm going to go
- 6:41box Jack Paul, I'm going to go box
- 6:42so-and-so". Even back then, if you had
- 6:44one or two fights left on your contract
- 6:46, they were going to give you hell.
- 6:49They'll keep you waiting, make you
- 6:51miserable, and book you in garbage
- 6:52fights against guys who came out of
- 6:53nowhere. A bit like what the UFC did
- 6:57when they offered Carlos Prates to
- 6:59Conor McGregor, and so I think it must
- 7:01have been a mix of: he still wanted to
- 7:03move forward, he wanted to fight for
- 7:05the title, SH Streakland was still
- 7:08happy at the time because he got a
- 7:10small pay raise, plus he was taking a
- 7:12lot of pressure from the UFC like, "
- 7:14Otherwise, man, we're going to put you
- 7:16in trouble anyway." And so at the time,
- 7:19I think he thought, well, there's more
- 7:21advantage, plus I'm fighting, okay, I'm
- 7:23going for it. And a little bit, you
- 7:26know, like, I know it's paradoxical
- 7:27because these are decisions, even at
- 7:29that time in May when he renegotiated
- 7:31this contract, these are decisions that
- 7:32are made over several days, several
- 7:34weeks. So what I mean is going to be
- 7:37weird, but when you look at it, even
- 7:38now a few months later, I think there's
- 7:40still a reconsideration of what must
- 7:42have happened in terms of, like, damn,
- 7:44I really got screwed over there in the
- 7:45story. If that's it,
- 7:50>> I don't know. You see, really, honestly
- 7:53, I...what bothers me about this is the
- 7:55previous ones where guys who were
- 7:57obviously very well paid and, typically
- 7:59, a guy, you know, I, Shrekland, I put
- 8:01him in this Mas Vidal box where the guy
- 8:03has today, for me, you see, when you
- 8:05look at Mas Vidal's career and what
- 8:07he's done, he's been beyond his
- 8:08potential, so to speak, athletically.
- 8:11You see the Alexa cases, the John Jones
- 8:13cases, they're special because they're
- 8:14guys, they're generational talents.
- 8:16There you have it, if you like. There,
- 8:18uh, Shun Streakland like Masvidal. Mas
- 8:21Vidal finished with I don't know how
- 8:22many defeats, we don't care. He can
- 8:23always take money because people will
- 8:25always tune in to these fights. Shun
- 8:27Streakland, few people watch these
- 8:29fights for what Shun Streakland brings
- 8:30in the cage; it's everything that
- 8:32happens outside of it, and that, no
- 8:34matter how many defeats he has, the
- 8:35amount of chaos: as long as he remains
- 8:37the character he is outside the cage,
- 8:39people will watch. So a guy like Shun
- 8:42Streckland, he could very well say, and
- 8:44I think a bit like Masvidal when there
- 8:46were tensions, even when Masvidal then
- 8:48went into boxing, did his other stuff,
- 8:50you're still a guy that people
- 8:51appreciate. To say Masvidal today in
- 8:54sport means nothing. He hosts the
- 8:56podcast sponsored by Monster about the
- 8:58UFC with Dustin Poya, with Chris Wman
- 9:00and all, because he's Mass, Vidal Shun,
- 9:03Rickland, you know? I mean, he could
- 9:05very well have said: "Okay guys, you
- 9:07put me upside down for the title fight
- 9:09and you put me in the closet, I'm going
- 9:11to finish my contract." Even in 2 years
- 9:14, Shakland, I'm sure that he'll go into
- 9:16boxing against Jack Paul, he'll do the
- 9:18barnacle, you know, you put him
- 9:19wherever you want, he would have taken
- 9:21a lot, a lot of risk. So, you see,
- 9:24that's why I have a little trouble
- 9:26being on the side of the poor guy who
- 9:29was put in. Well, you see, it's not a
- 9:31Shareland, it's not Dimitrius Johnson
- 9:32because Dimitrius Johnson also talked
- 9:34about it in the mode "I'm at the end of
- 9:35my contract and everything." Dimitri
- 9:37Johnson. The reality is that when he
- 9:39was fighting, nobody gave a damn.
- 9:42>> Well, that's why I really think we're
- 9:44very close to a Polo Costa situation
- 9:45for Shun Streakland. And in fact, but
- 9:48let's say it's a little tricky because
- 9:50you see, and for me these are the...
- 9:52they're exact parallels, but here Polo
- 9:54Costa, basically, he's in this
- 9:55situation. There's only one fight left
- 9:58if I remember correctly. And in theory,
- 10:01he could already be out of the UFC
- 10:03right now because he got this offer to
- 10:06fight on short notice without a pay
- 10:08raise, even though it's a 5-rounder
- 10:10against Ankalaf. You can't do worse
- 10:15than that, except maybe Ramza Chimev if
- 10:17you're N Diaz and you accept just to
- 10:19get out. But let me tell you, these are
- 10:23two examples of what the UFC does to
- 10:25you if you want to get out of your
- 10:27contract because you've managed it well
- 10:29, or at least you only have one fight
- 10:31left and they're going to give you the
- 10:32worst possible fights. But nevertheless
- 10:36, in fact, there's a world where Polo
- 10:38Costa could have accepted, he could
- 10:39have accepted to fight in California,
- 10:41on short notice, synchronously, without
- 10:43a pay raise, but he didn't. But on the
- 10:45other hand, yes, he could already be
- 10:47out; he could already be fighting for
- 10:49Costa himself, or perhaps be fighting
- 10:50Jake Paul for millions of dollars at
- 10:52this very moment as we speak. But I
- 10:55think it must be so hard to tell you
- 10:58that I'm getting screwed, really,
- 11:00really badly, on one or two occasions
- 11:03like that to that extent. And I think
- 11:07that it wouldn't be, and it's not even,
- 11:08it's not ego, it's not just ego, but
- 11:10you know, for a Polo Costa, I think it
- 11:11must be so hard, even though it would
- 11:13be the right decision in the medium and
- 11:14long term for him. And I think it must
- 11:19be so hard to let go of the steak when
- 11:21you say, [ __ ], they're going to do the
- 11:24worst thing to me in this fight
- 11:28>> and I can't, I can't accept it and I
- 11:30think they're in situations like that,
- 11:31you see,
- 11:32>> that could happen
- 11:33>> after once again, guys, I'm playing
- 11:35devil's advocate, but you see,
- 11:36typically
- 11:37>> Volkenovski also has to extend.
- 11:40>> You have guys where I understand that
- 11:41things are going well. Alexander
- 11:42Volkanovski, well without being, you
- 11:44know, the guy who is, who is, uh, who
- 11:46provides a lot of services to the UFC,
- 11:48I understand that things are going well
- 11:49for him because, well, he doesn't do
- 11:51anything stupid and he's, so to speak,
- 11:53an example to follow. A guy like Polo
- 11:55Costa, I put myself in the shoes of the
- 11:57UFC too, you say to yourself today, OK,
- 11:59the guy is back in the right place. I
- 12:01think you can't help but think, "Wait,
- 12:03there was Fight Week against Adessia
- 12:04where the guy says he got really pumped
- 12:06up right before. The fight after, while
- 12:08we're still investing in the guy, it's
- 12:10supposed to be the revival of MMA in
- 12:12Brazil. He enters the fight against
- 12:15Marvin Vetory, he weighs, uh, 84 kg. I
- 12:18don't think so guys, I think I think
- 12:20we're going to have to do it, huh? Well
- 12:22, there you go, you see how you do it.
- 12:25And I think a company like the UFC
- 12:27thinks," OK, today, it's been maybe 2
- 12:29years since Polo Costa got back to
- 12:31where he belonged, but the last time he
- 12:32had this peak of fame where it was
- 12:34really Primeolo Costa, undefeated,
- 12:36Adesania and then Marvin Vetori, the
- 12:38guy did this kind of crazy thing to us.
- 12:41"Do we really want to put ourselves in
- 12:43a position where we extend him for
- 12:45hours at a sum that is, finally, h
- 12:47fights, at a sum that is still pretty
- 12:50hardcore and that the guy potentially
- 12:52repeats a bit of a cable? We put a
- 12:54crazy event in Rio for him, we put him
- 12:57for the Light Evip title, Prochaka.
- 13:00Start of fight guys. Uh if we can do
- 13:03that, if we can do that in heavyweight,
- 13:05vacant belt, I would be fine with that.
- 13:09>> Oh yeah, that's it. You make your
- 13:12company look like idiots or amateurs.
- 13:15Well, a similar case with Shun
- 13:17Streakland where I think that the UFC
- 13:18also says to itself:" The guy became
- 13:20champion, did all this cash-in-the-box
- 13:21stuff with the UFC White House, White
- 13:23House and everything, it's part of the
- 13:24character and that's why Shun Street
- 13:26Cland works. "But we are in a situation
- 13:28where, and that's why for me there is
- 13:30still a difference between Josh Okit
- 13:31and Shun Streakland, because Josh Okit,
- 13:33we see that he is a character and that
- 13:34yes, he is going to do his extra steps
- 13:36with Michel Obama and everything, but
- 13:37you feel the guy is just forcing it,
- 13:39thinking," I must craft the kind of
- 13:40sentence that gets people talking. "But
- 13:42I think that as soon as he gets the
- 13:43phone call from the UFC, FC Josh Kit.
- 13:45Okay, great, you shut up and let's go.
- 13:47Shland says. I think the FC, they're
- 13:50like," This guy brings us a lot of
- 13:52money and, in terms of sport, he's
- 13:53doing crazy performances, "but the guy
- 13:55is so uncontrollable and can come out
- 13:57with crazy things that I'm
- 13:59>> really, I'm convinced that every
- 14:01post-fight interview, all the UFC
- 14:03bosses are like," Please, yeah, please,
- 14:06please, let him not come out with crazy
- 14:08things, even towards a sponsor,
- 14:10something like that, and...And really,
- 14:13in my opinion, they're really into that
- 14:15. The UFC is very important to us
- 14:17because, because he speaks to a certain
- 14:19audience. Sportingly, he is very strong
- 14:21and, at once, puts up some crazy
- 14:22numbers. But if you let a young
- 14:25streaker loose like that and really
- 14:28push him to the limit, it could
- 14:30potentially backfire on you.
- 14:32>> Well, that's for sure. But how do you
- 14:34actually get out of that situation, out
- 14:36of that situation, if you're one and
- 14:37you're the other, actually? Because,
- 14:39well, Sha Streak, he might not let go
- 14:42of the steak. We'll see, maybe he'll
- 14:45come to his senses or something. For me
- 14:48, he has every reason not to be happy,
- 14:50but I mean, maybe he'll change his tune
- 14:52because he's so unpredictable and
- 14:53whatever. But if you have...Yeah, I
- 14:56think they'll never let go of the steak
- 14:57, huh.
- 14:59>> Well Danaw, you actually reacted there
- 15:01in the Contender Series like, well, he
- 15:03just...It's not like he signed a long
- 15:05time ago, he signed in May. You're
- 15:07finally for me Shan, unfortunately if
- 15:10you want to go all the way, you have to
- 15:12do a Francis Enganou. You see, you do a
- 15:15Francis Enganou or other guys,
- 15:17>> but it's already too late. So, sorry,
- 15:20when I say sorry, I don't think Shun
- 15:22Streakland has any interest in leaving
- 15:24the UFC. But when I say you want this
- 15:26revaluation, unfortunately, in fact,
- 15:27you have to keep winning, you see?
- 15:29You're in this situation, you keep
- 15:30going. A guy like Shunstrickland today,
- 15:32which represents, we're still in this
- 15:33thing of precisely, I was talking about
- 15:35it in relation to Mas Vidal, for me
- 15:36he's SHCKland, he's still that guy.
- 15:38It's never been cat punches when he
- 15:39beats he would be, Ramza Shimev, but
- 15:41for me he's exceeded his athletic
- 15:42potential. But if you're in A situation
- 15:45where you get banned from Sourdine, you
- 15:47defend your belt again. I don't see a
- 15:49world where the UFC doesn't say to
- 15:50itself: "Okay, the guy in every
- 15:51interview..." Because that's it, you're
- 15:53in the champion's position. If you keep
- 15:55saying every time, "Guys, I'm underpaid
- 15:57, the UFC bastards, Dana White, you
- 15:58weren't like this before, you're going
- 16:00to explode." Plus, all the guys, they
- 16:03have to put you in a good light. They
- 16:04have to put you in a good light.
- 16:07Especially since, as we mentioned in
- 16:09the previous podcast with Sh Streetland
- 16:10, we're saying that the UFC won't let
- 16:12go of the steak in the sense that
- 16:14they'll have to really make Sh
- 16:15Streetland row. But renegotiating
- 16:19current contracts is also routine,
- 16:22right? I mean, when Conor McGregor was
- 16:24on his extraordinary rise and he was
- 16:26winning fights and he finally really
- 16:28became a champion every time. It felt
- 16:30like every fight he doubled his number
- 16:32of followers, he exploded. Very quickly
- 16:35, the UFC, in the middle of his
- 16:37contracts, renegotiated upwards so that
- 16:40it would be much more in line with what
- 16:42he brings. So, I know, it may or may
- 16:46not be obvious, but obviously, the UFC
- 16:48can renegotiate the contract with a
- 16:50snap of its fingers if it decides to.
- 16:54And so, to go along with what you're
- 16:56saying, if that's what Sh Streakland
- 16:58ends up doing, that is to say, he
- 17:00fights under his conditions and things
- 17:02like that, that he fights against
- 17:04Nasourdine and that he wins against
- 17:06Nasourdine, and maybe spectacularly if
- 17:08he succeeds or something, well then
- 17:10indeed, he would greatly increase his
- 17:16chances and the probability that the
- 17:18UFC would accept, give in, so to speak,
- 17:21to renegotiate his contract and change
- 17:23the terms and all that. So that's it.
- 17:27Indeed, there will be arbitration that
- 17:28Strickland will have to make. Well, as
- 17:30long as I don't do anything, I won't
- 17:32increase my leverage a little bit, you
- 17:35see. But that's it and that was and has
- 17:37been Francis 'strength too, is that he
- 17:40>> was, he put himself in this situation
- 17:42of being able to have a showdown with
- 17:45the UFC, but in the meantime, Francis
- 17:47fought everyone on his very old
- 17:48contract and every time the UFC came up
- 17:51with new stuff, no, we continue. And
- 17:53the guy beat everyone. The guy really
- 17:56beat everyone. Then, there was even
- 17:58this fight against Cyril Gan which was
- 17:59the same. We're in a mess like Polo
- 18:02Costa in KF. You have cruciate
- 18:04ligaments, you don't give a damn, you
- 18:05fight him anyway, you go all in because
- 18:07if Francis lost, he would literally
- 18:09lose everything and well, he put
- 18:10himself in a position to win. But it's
- 18:12true that That's complicated, because
- 18:14you...you have to be in that situation,
- 18:16you tell yourself at some point: "I
- 18:17could potentially lose everything", and
- 18:19inevitably you talk about the UFC a
- 18:21little bit with your tail between your
- 18:23legs. But for me, Strickland is like
- 18:24that: you keep fighting, you win, and
- 18:26then after a while, you're going to be
- 18:27really good. And we see that clearly
- 18:29with guys, well, I'll take this example
- 18:31from Alexander Volkanovski: basically,
- 18:33he's a champion that no one wants, and
- 18:35today the guy is extremely well paid by
- 18:37the UFC because, well, the guy has
- 18:38become appreciated by everyone, has won
- 18:40a series of victories. And you put
- 18:42yourself in this situation where, well,
- 18:44on paper, everyone wants you to be,
- 18:46you're very well paid and you have
- 18:48these opportunities. Dimitrius Johnson,
- 18:50without wanting to beat him up again,
- 18:52but you see, he complained about being
- 18:54underpaid and everything. At one point,
- 18:57he had this opportunity to fight TJ
- 18:59Dacho. Except he wanted a million
- 19:01dollars. You win against TJ Dacho. I
- 19:04think the UFC would have said, okay, we
- 19:07still have to put the CO in there, you
- 19:10know. Unfortunately, he didn't want to.
- 19:12You lose against Henry Serouo B, the FC
- 19:14says, well, okay, let's trade him like
- 19:16a Pokémon card. Well, that's it. But
- 19:19because, indeed, as you were saying, if
- 19:21you win the fight, which is the arm
- 19:23wrestling fight, the fight where you
- 19:25took risks and stuff, and then you take
- 19:27the microphone and you say the same
- 19:29thing that Shckland is saying now, or
- 19:32if Dimitri Johnson had beaten TJ Dach.
- 19:35Then, of course, he...he...it's...
- 19:36they're still the masters of the game.
- 19:37But so, it's not that the UFC won't
- 19:39have a choice, but it's that there will
- 19:41be such a Media fervor, doubled,
- 19:43renewed from the fans, because on top
- 19:45of that you'll have this "you just won"
- 19:48thing and we know that, but we're the
- 19:50first ones, in the...in the...in
- 19:51people's minds, in the fans' minds,
- 19:53you're really...it's...you're dependent
- 19:56on your last performance. And if, on
- 19:58top of that, you already had a run and
- 20:00then you do this performance, you know,
- 20:01that takes you to the next level and
- 20:03you come up with your complaints, and
- 20:05suddenly people say: "Oh okay, he won,
- 20:07he entertained us, he did all these
- 20:08things, he's at the top and on top of
- 20:10that, so obviously, the UFC treats him
- 20:12like [ __ ]." Well then you'll indeed
- 20:14have a crazy impact. If, if right after
- 20:18the fight against Ramzat in the
- 20:19post-fight interview, that's what Sh
- 20:21Streetland said in the mode of well, I
- 20:23was basically put in a gun to the head,
- 20:25I had no choice but to sign this
- 20:27contract. I didn't want it, but the UFC
- 20:30is really a gangster. You wanted me to
- 20:32win against Ramzad? There you go, I won
- 20:34. Now, what do we do? In that case, I
- 20:36think it would have had a much bigger
- 20:38impact and a much better chance of the
- 20:40contract changing. So, well, he waited
- 20:43a few months. And you also have this
- 20:46thing where you can be in this
- 20:48situation, it also depends on your
- 20:50situation with the UFC. Guys, remember
- 20:53that a few months ago, the UFC offered
- 20:56John Jones 30 million to fight Thomas
- 20:59Spinal. Because John Jones, who I
- 21:02remind you had no problem with his new
- 21:05contract to fight Cyril, to fight STP,
- 21:07he was like: "Guys, I'm fine here now,
- 21:09I'm going to leave quietly." Well, when
- 21:13the UFC has no choice, Well, they gave
- 21:15you 30 million. And then, they offered
- 21:17him 15 million to fight the expert,
- 21:18because you put yourself in this
- 21:20situation where the UFC was like, "Okay
- 21:22, there you go." Like when Francis...
- 21:24What was Francis? What was it? 10 and 8
- 21:26million, I think, that he finally
- 21:28offered him for these two fights. Well,
- 21:29he offered him two very big ones, I
- 21:31don't remember exactly what they were,
- 21:33but basically to get him to re-sign
- 21:35with the UFC, he offered him two fights
- 21:37for his defenses, two big paydays for
- 21:39his belt defenses. But because you're
- 21:41in this situation where you've beaten
- 21:43everyone and the UF guys aren't stupid,
- 21:45guys, it's 95%of MMA, it's the UFC so
- 21:47they know exactly what they're doing.
- 21:51They can see that to get the guy back
- 21:53or like Conor McGregor who had a fight
- 21:54with the UFC for his return against Max
- 21:56, he was very Okay. He said, "They
- 21:58respected me, no problem.""Because yes,
- 22:00well he sees clearly, he sees clearly
- 22:02what's going on, that the guy calls
- 22:03back and everything, reports and
- 22:05everything. And so for me SH Streckland
- 22:07is also that, that today he is in a
- 22:09situation where the UFC, well they did
- 22:10their Tarsigné calculation in May.
- 22:12There, you have done...not...we are not
- 22:14in a situation, he has not proven
- 22:15himself, but we still have to do a
- 22:16little more for him to say to himself:"
- 22:18listen, Chun, we are going to discuss
- 22:19your contract again. "And in my opinion
- 22:21, indeed, it is a little early to say:"
- 22:23You signed in May, you have only fought
- 22:25one fight and now, you are facing
- 22:26Nasourdine. "Well, let's wait and see
- 22:28what happens, and it would not surprise
- 22:30me either if you face Nasourdine who,
- 22:32once again, is a fight that, well, no
- 22:33one wants to see. But I think that even
- 22:36for the UFC, you see, you are not in a
- 22:37situation where you are going to Break
- 22:39all records in terms of numbers for
- 22:41Fight Week. The fight will be
- 22:42spectacular, but you won't break all
- 22:43those records. The rematch against
- 22:46Ramzad for Shun Streakland, I think
- 22:48everyone is going to pick up their
- 22:49phones and say," Okay, guys, we saw
- 22:51what happened. "I remind you that it
- 22:53had more numbers, guys. Do you realize
- 22:55that the UFC Maison Blanche and what
- 22:57was it like? It's been 2 years since
- 22:59they've done those numbers during Fight
- 23:01Week. I think the phone is going to
- 23:03ring now, everyone is going to be in
- 23:05good mode, given what happened the
- 23:07first time, guys, don't worry, you're
- 23:08all going to be really, really good."
- 23:11And in my opinion, it's not for nothing
- 23:13that Ramza is kind of put on the back
- 23:15burner, like, "We're waiting to see
- 23:17what happens with Shland Nourdine and
- 23:19we're going to put a little spot for
- 23:21the UFC." Uh, what is International
- 23:23Fight Week or a really big one? In my
- 23:25opinion,
- 23:26>> well, that's why and that's That's why
- 23:29if the fight against Nassourdine ends
- 23:31up happening, it's really going to be
- 23:33tense. But on Ch Streakland's side,
- 23:36it's also tense, for he has so much at
- 23:38stake. But even for the fans, huh, it
- 23:42means that really, while Nassour
- 23:43himself is just doing his job and he's
- 23:45just coming to become world champion, I
- 23:46think that on the English-speaking side
- 23:48, if it continues like this and
- 23:49Johnstrickland ends up accepting the
- 23:51fight against Nasourdine, but while
- 23:52being in the mode "actually I accept
- 23:54because I have no choice, because
- 23:55so-and-so", and but there you have it,
- 23:57everything will be decided on this
- 23:59fight against Nasourdine and so-and-so.
- 24:01I think that people will be even more
- 24:05on Shaun Streakland's side against
- 24:06Nassourdine, in the mode: "Plus, the
- 24:08guy's risking his career, he's taking
- 24:09this fight when he doesn't want to and
- 24:11so-and-so" that. It's going to be, if
- 24:12this fight happens, it's really going
- 24:14to be a very weird thing, the fight
- 24:16against Nasourdine where, In fact, all
- 24:17the stakes will be almost outside of
- 24:19the fight against Nasourdine himself.
- 24:21It will be Shun Streakland against the
- 24:23UFC, it will be the rematch against
- 24:24Ramzad that everyone wants to see. It
- 24:26will be Shun Streakland and it will pay
- 24:28off and in the middle, well, there will
- 24:31be the grain of sand called Nasourdine.
- 24:33But it's almost unfair. Well, it's not
- 24:36unfair, it's just how it is, you see.
- 24:37But for Nasourdine, it will really be
- 24:39like all the English speakers will hope
- 24:41that Nasourdine loses just so that the
- 24:43thing continues and that everything
- 24:45goes as he would like, you see. But
- 24:46what is certain is that for the UFC,
- 24:48this is very bad. We remember at the
- 24:50time when there was all this stuff
- 24:52about fighters 'salaries. When you also
- 24:55have a champion who is as visible as
- 24:57Shun Streakland and we go back to the
- 24:59thing with John Jones where the UFC
- 25:00will be forced to Saying, "No, the guys
- 25:02are well paid and all." It's a really,
- 25:05really bad message overall to say that
- 25:08one of your superstars, one of the most
- 25:10visible guys like that, is complaining
- 25:12about his salary. It's always really
- 25:14bad on the UFC side. So that's why on
- 25:16both sides, it's in their interest that
- 25:19this can be resolved fairly quickly.
- 25:22>> Yeah. Well, let's hope so. Oh, I saw it
- 25:26, sorry. And, uh, horrible conclusion,
- 25:29uh, Brendan Allen, well, he deserves
- 25:32credit, he deserves credit for trying
- 25:34Brendan, who beat, uh, CLD, uh, last
- 25:36weekend, who made a disgusting post
- 25:38yesterday where he once again put
- 25:41Nasourdin Imamov instead of Nasordin
- 25:43Imavov with Brendan Allen. It pisses me
- 25:46off when there's stuff like that in the
- 25:49UFC mode. Make the fight that everyone
- 25:51wants to see. The rematch for the belt,
- 25:53this time for the vacant title. Brendan
- 25:55Allen Nassourdine Immaov give people
- 25:59what they want to see
- 26:01>> give people what they want you
- 26:03>> see that we are typically for me in a
- 26:06situation where on his Instagram people
- 26:08should maybe put that on order there
- 26:10you go
- 26:11>> Oh the fight that everyone wants damn
- 26:13it oh yes for the belt even. Okay.
- 26:15>> Yes. Oh yes for the belt okay.
- 26:18>> Yes, but look, that is typically the
- 26:19kind of thing that stresses me out. It
- 26:21gives me anxiety to see that when you
- 26:24have, you know, some kind of proof in
- 26:26front of you that a person you see is
- 26:28not in the real world in fact. He has a
- 26:31...He's in a kind of eco-friendly room,
- 26:32all alone in his corner where, yes,
- 26:34that's for sure, all his teammates, all
- 26:36his buddies on his Insta, people must
- 26:37tell him: "No but seriously, damn it,
- 26:39go against Nassourdine, I'm really
- 26:40excited, that's what I want to see and
- 26:42stuff." And the guy from the ne look at
- 26:45that you know and so he feels like and
- 26:47and he and he ends up coming out with
- 26:48sentences like "The fight that the
- 26:50whole world wants." Okay, he didn't say
- 26:51the whole world, but that everyone
- 26:53wants it. You know, that really worries
- 26:55me. It's tough. Yeah.
- 26:59>> Come on, scales, did you have anything
- 27:00else to say?
- 27:01>> Especially since the fight was still...
- 27:03Oh yeah, he won the first round, but
- 27:04after the first round at Kant Quant
- 27:06Ramsad when Nassourdine gets angry, we
- 27:07realize that they're not in the same
- 27:09league, in the same division. No, no,
- 27:10complicated. No, but then there you go,
- 27:13Brendon Allen there for the fight, for
- 27:15the title, hot hot hot hot.
- 27:18>> Yeah, you see the sentence, the
- 27:19sentence is tough.
- 27:20>> Yes, the sentence is complicated guys.
