  11. 0:23Americans are in the grip of a new
  12. 0:24disease a very serious disease two
  13. 0:27diseases as a matter of fact the disease
  14. 0:29I'm refering refering to is uh is
  15. 0:31usually transmitted by misdirected
  16. 0:33efforts so-called consumer Advocates
  17. 0:37certain books newspaper headlines and so
  18. 0:39forth the diseases I'm speaking about
  19. 0:41are smoke a phobia and cancer
  20. 0:46phobia smoking is after all a ritual
  21. 0:49that welcomes strangers provides
  22. 0:51companionship in solitude fills empty
  23. 0:53time marks the significance of certain
  24. 0:56kinds of occasions and expresses
  25. 0:58individual identity and personal style
  26. 1:01the data are not there I am not the one
  27. 1:04to say that if you want to make an
  28. 1:05emotional judgment on an issue that it's
  29. 1:07not one's prerogative but at least you
  30. 1:09ought to tell people that that is what
  31. 1:11you are doing in God we trust others
  32. 1:14must provide data and what we need is
  33. 1:18good scientific Data before I'm willing
  34. 1:21to
  35. 1:22accept and submit to the
  36. 1:25proposition that smoking is a hazard to
  37. 1:28the non-smoker
