- 0:00They took the mummy out of the freezer
- 0:01to let him thaw, then collected samples
- 0:04from his guts, skin, and the brown water
- 0:07that oozed out of him. They found yeast
- 0:10there, so they mixed it with flour
- 0:11[music] and water and waited.
- 0:13Eventually, the ancient yeast started
- 0:15feeding on the mixture. It released gas,
- 0:18causing the dough to slowly rise. Then
- 0:21they baked it, and somehow the yeast
- 0:24from a 5,300-year-old
- 0:26mummy turned into sourdough bread, which
- 0:29they of course ate.
