- 0:00Welcome your honors to the new episode, which is the third and last one for the part that tackles the definition of the scientific business research methods
- 0:12As we agreed, there are two general, thorough definitions that are more common
- 0:18We were tackling the terms systematic, data-based, objective, inquiry, analyzing, and synthesizing
- 0:25We differentiated between the two concepts organized, organization, and organizational structure
- 0:30In the last episode, we focused only on organization
- 0:33We discussed the types of organizations, and how it can be reflected in choosing the literature and in determining the problem definition
- 0:39Now let’s discuss the meaning of organized, business, and management
- 0:43And that was a question from the last episode that tackled the definition
- 0:47What are business and management? And how we can apply them in the field of scientific business research
- 0:55This form calls for thinking step by step about the meaning of management
- 1:01We will not tackle this term in its general or absolute meaning that is, in fact, different and diverse according to different books and authors
- 1:13The term management is like the other scientific terms, be it in business or management specialties, has its terminology and components
- 1:22We studied them as functions in the book management
- 1:25So somebody to recall them, can we?
- 1:29They were four functions. Planning, organizing, leading, and control
- 1:37What does planning mean? We will not translate; however, we will mention terminology
- 1:41Planning means setting objectives, it depends on the administrational level you are planning and making management
- 1:49The next step is organizing, this is organized not organization or organizational structure
- 1:56Organized means assigning resources, to what? To this objective that I have already determined
- 2:05Here I have a very clear objective, which is defining management, which are those four functions
- 2:12And follow these steps in scientific research
- 2:17Make a clear objective of scientific research and linked to resources
- 2:20If I could not find resources to these objectives that are for instance on the form of data. So just remove and exclude it
- 2:27If I have additional resources and have to add more objectives
- 2:30If I have many resources and objectives that make my research bigger for a master thesis, I can divide it
- 2:41Here we have reached systematic research that is planning, organizing, leading, and controlling
- 2:47Planning the input, collect data, then I make processing, implementation, leading, then control of feedback
- 2:57so I'm now achieving the systematic approach in form of input processing, output
- 3:01and between them the rest of the details (we are already talked about it in the systematic approach)
- 3:05So what is the difference between that and organizational structure?
- 3:08Structure means that here I start defining what is called chart or hierarchy.
- 3:14What are the major roles, then divide them to minor ones
- 3:19It must be done to complete the role in the above. Till I complete all the details of this structure
- 3:25I did a breakdown to this organizational structure till reaching the lowest level, Till I complete all the details of this structure.
- 3:37I did a breakdown to this organizational structure till reaching the lowest level, the clerk who has a minor role.
- 3:49Therefore, we always say pay attention to the chain of command that concerns organizational structure
- 3:54Its literal translation is a chain of command who is responsible and for what
- 3:58These are responsibilities we breakdown when we finish it, we bring suitable individuals for each post
- 4:06So pay attention management and research perspective, when this becomes little we narrow down the posts.
- 4:14Here we see tasks and roles, if they differ, this structure and the chain of command will differ too
- 4:25So what is Business ? Let’s think of it also as functions
- 4:27Business functions start with the most important function. So what is the vital function for you to say I have started my own business?
- 4:33Be it profit or non-profit because those are related to the legal form or entity
- 4:40The first thing is I should have a product or service. Product is something tangible and service intangible
- 4:49A product, for instance, can be a book, computer, and desk, mobile phone while services
- 4:55can be internet connectivity, mobile connectivity, activity, an idea, or information.
- 5:04And this is different from the organization that we agree on a legal form or entity
- 5:10So why are we mentioning that? We discuss that because we need you to tell us when you are working on problem definition that includes six component
- 5:16in which step you are, which function in the management, which function in business, which organizational level
- 5:23which legal form the profit or non-profit and in the profit what type, in the non-profit what type
- 5:29Have we finished the business functions? No, we need finance for this product or service, marketing, we need to sell, production, and manufacturing
- 5:41We need vital steps that we call business functions to make accounting, investment, finance, production, and manufacturing
- 5:50The handwriting here is on the form of a drawing, I am introducing it only to make the meaning clear
- 5:55We can have attachments and files to upload from a book
- 6:01or this model with its components in the form of PowerPoint to make the idea understandable
- 6:07These are functions that need to be accomplished for us to say that we completed all the components of the business
- 6:16Therefore, let’s think as we are talking about these business functions
- 6:21where can we find management functions, in which one?
- 6:23In fact, in them all
- 6:25As we are studying any master related to business, what do we study?
- 6:32We study in each one of these product, service, idea, accounting, finance, investment, production, manufacturing
- 6:40sales, marketing, international marketing, HR, strategic HR, IT, research and development a course or credit hours
- 6:52And these credit hours interpret that entire merge
- 6:57So here we ask on what level or function this management is done? In all of them
- 7:01These four management functions are done in this diversified organizational structure
- 7:09Sorry.
- 7:10And at the same time, they are done in all these business functions
- 7:14Imagine with me that they are like a matrix or 3D
- 7:20Like an entity
- 7:22So this entity I am working on, to what management level and in what management functions in which business function. Now we are composing things together
- 7:32The business functions, as well as the management, is it arbitrary or in an environment?
- 7:37In an environment. You will find this in the book of management, marketing
- 7:43and in several other books of administrative sciences, human sciences as well as social sciences.
- 7:48They mentioned two kinds of environment internal and external or macro and micro if you studied it from an economic perspective
- 7:57What is the difference between the two?
- 8:00If the factors that affected the company are out of its control we consider it external
- 8:10And the factors that the company or the business management organization can control we call it internal
- 8:16The internal, microenvironmental components are the factors that can be influenced fully or mostly by the company
- 8:27This means that the company can control them and this entity can fully control it
- 8:32For instance, it can control the employees, customers, suppliers. This control could be negative or positive
- 8:36And that is what are we going to major by scientific research
- 8:39What is the example of the external environment? We studied it in more than one place but still
- 8:45Political, economic, social, or socio-cultural, technological, ecological, and legal.
- 8:54Political includes all the events, statements, influences, political statements
- 8:59Economical means any economical indexes, currency, economical conditions with its indexes
- 9:04Social or social-cultural includes the norms, traits, customs, and traditions of a specific society or the environment of that entity
- 9:13Technological means all the technical developments related to that entity
- 9:19Ecological includes the terrain, geography, climate, heights, temperature, humidity everything
- 9:28Legal means laws, but the ones who make them are external factors that affect this entity and its components
- 9:38This entity could not hold it off or affects it only through alliances
- 9:44One of these alliances is to form an association
- 9:49For example association of software development for instance, or association for mobile phone production or association for wood production or foodstuff.
- 10:01In this association companies ally for the good of the county as well as the industry, they work in
- 10:08Therefore, they can decrease the effects of external environmental factors
- 10:15This fact in industry differs; it differs according to the industry. In the telecom industry, for instance, it differs from than in FMCG or construction industries
- 10:26This differs also in the sectors of the same industry. There is one who builds the network,
- 10:30one who runs it, one who makes the infrastructure and a one who operates it
- 10:34But there is a micro retailer who sells simple services. Individuals who have a micro role very small
- 10:42Does this differ from one county to another?
- 10:44Yes, the geographical location differs, but how?
- 10:48All this system differs legal, ecological, social, economic, and political. Employees, customers, suppliers will differ
- 11:00And for the geographical, you should pay attention. it could be a country or a part inside that country including provinces,
- 11:06south or middle of the provinces, maritime all this differs from one country, industry to another
- 11:13Time also makes a difference, things that exist now were not in 10, 5, 20 years ago and it will not exist in the future
- 11:22So let’s calculate together those components
- 11:26If we calculated them they will be 9 components
- 11:30Those components we call them. I call them so because I am the one who developed this model
- 11:36This model is called the 9 elements model, and scientific research was conducted about it
- 11:40One part is already published and I am still working on publishing the rest
- 11:44Publication means scientific publication
- 11:46Tested in the way that says all the names and definitions we discussed could be integrated into these 9
- 11:56Management functions, organization legal form, organizational structure number 3, business functions number 4 with all its components
- 12:06internal environment, external environment number 6, number 7 geographical location, 8 industry with its components sectors or sub-sectors, and 9 time
- 12:17If you used these nine which are the 9 elements model and explained for us the title
- 12:25Do you remember the episode of the title selection?
- 12:28If you rechecked that episode, you have a title that is measuring factors that influence consumer behavior
- 12:37the topic of mobile banking in Egypt, or with the focus on the middle-age customers
- 12:46This title includes the six components
- 12:48So explain to us this title using the 9 models
- 12:53What will be the organization/legal form kind focus of your study?
- 12:59So from where the problem is derived?
- 13:02And from which management function is it generated?
- 13:04What business function are you focusing on?
- 13:07What is the form of the structure?
- 13:10How are the political, economic, social, technological, ecological legal factors influencing your business?
- 13:15And how are you influencing customers, suppliers, and employees? And how are they impacting you?
- 13:19In this problem or this specific case
- 13:22And what are the nature of the industry and the geographical location?
- 13:25And provide concerning that whatever evidence you want it can be secondary information, reports, syndicate reports, websites, interview stakeholders…
- 13:35And I will explain it with detail in the next episode which tackles the beginning of forming a proposal or chapter one of your research.
- 13:42It is important here to focus on reaching the definition of scientific research business
- 13:50Using the six components from the episode of title selection, integrated with these nine models you can write one, two, or three paragraphs
- 14:01That can end with one, two, or three pages
- 14:04We have enough clear information that explains and covers all the dimensions and aspects related to scientific business research
- 14:14The component called problem definition we will discuss components after it
- 14:18But please in the episode of title selection and the 3 episodes that tackle the definition of scientific business research
- 14:26with this episode, you should start writing title as well as problem definition that explains and cover the explanation of the title with covering these 9 elements.
- 14:35You can find many resources, which tackle and cover these 9, in your company, or in the place where you are conducting scientific research
- 14:44By this, we started to have a coherent part of scientific research in the field of business
- 14:49Through it, we understood how to start writing titles, problem definition in the field of scientific business research
- 14:56Thank you so much, the upcoming episode will be more detailed on how we can start writing the first chapter of scientific business research
- 15:06Thank you, goodbye.
