  1. 0:01Hey and welcome to you, in a new episode
  2. 0:04where we will talk a bit about the definitions of scientific business research
  3. 0:09and our application here is the scientific business research
  4. 0:13based on the idea of who I could understand the definition ?
  5. 0:18Here we have two definitions, which are repeated, clear and used in multiple books
  6. 0:25which we study and which are circulating in our hands
  7. 0:28which we study and which are circulating in our hands, such as DONALD COOPER book, UMA SEKARAN book and SAUDERS book
  8. 0:33in fact there are many book circulating in scientific research area and in business field
  9. 0:38that termed and agreed on those following huge definition tools
  10. 0:42let's read them , business research
  11. 0:44I want to you to read them and think about them and to think of their relation with the previous subjects that you studied
  12. 0:49an organized , systematic , data-based, critical , objective , scientific inquiry or investigation into a specific problem , undertaken with the purpose of finding answers or solutions to it
  13. 1:04the second definition is :
  14. 1:06a process of determining , acquiring , analyzing , synthesizing , synthesizing
  15. 1:11and disseminating relevant business data , information
  16. 1:15and insights to decision makers in ways that mobilize
  17. 1:19the organization to take appropriate business action
  18. 1:22that , in turn , maximize business performance
  19. 1:28in fact when we came to discuss these in a scientific research course
  20. 1:32the majority of us stops at the word organized, and think it literally means organization
  21. 1:36we told them be careful this is a translation
  22. 1:38you translate , systematic means order
  23. 1:41but how systematic means order and organized means also order?
  24. 1:44Is there a difference between the two?
  25. 1:47This means there are a repetition and synonyms of words, we said no
  26. 1:50be vigilant , we are not reading a language
  27. 1:52it’s not Arabic or English or other languages
  28. 1:54here we aren’t talking about living languages
  29. 1:56but we are taking about the scientific terms
  30. 1:58data based , what data means ?
  31. 2:00what objective means ? what inquiry means?
  32. 2:03what is the difference between the words determining ,acquiring , analyzing and the word synthesizing
  33. 2:09it a very important matter that we should comprehend along with the steps
  34. 2:13which are specific to the scientific research and the concepts of scientific research
  35. 2:16one of the very important steps here
  36. 2:18and the important perception in scientific research is
  37. 2:20is that we should stop at the definitions studied when we were talking about marketing, management and generally the science of business
  38. 2:28what have we studied ? and what have we have understood ?
  39. 2:30let's come together to remember the word data , what data means ?
  40. 2:33Data has appeared many time along the courses, even in the marketing books
  41. 2:37the data begins from here
  42. 2:40If I show you this figure it will simplify the image
  43. 2:45what this figure tells us?
  44. 2:46Is not a problem follow up with me step by step as I move between more than one slide
  45. 2:51in order to simplify and clarify and the information as much as possible in remote way
  46. 2:54we are away from each other , so its remotely
  47. 2:57and I expose it step by step
  48. 2:59data is always the raw material
  49. 3:01you can’t mix between data and information here
  50. 3:04the data is the raw material , it means if like we are talking about names of persons
  51. 3:09their addresses , their weight, date of birth , degree , his address ,the degree, the grade ,the gender and so on
  52. 3:18if this data which is the raw data is processed
  53. 3:22this one the data, is processed it becomes information
  54. 3:26is like the data is considered as a starting point, is the raw material that you will use as a researcher to produce information
  55. 3:34if this information for me is IN and OUT
  56. 3:39it means data is the IN
  57. 3:41the processing part happened and there will be an out
  58. 3:43this is what is showed in front of us ?
  59. 3:45let’s go back again to the definition, systematic means
  60. 3:50the systematic word intended that there is a system
  61. 3:53what is a system? It is an order? An organization?.
  62. 3:55System means that there is an input and an output
  63. 3:57a processing, feedbacks and so on, I will expose it in details
  64. 3:59but what is the main idea her?
  65. 4:00It’s that when we say be systematic it means that you will tell us
  66. 4:03what is the input and which is in our case or the majority of scientific research related to master degree
  67. 4:09is data, raw data about this subject
  68. 4:11if you do a processing to the raw data
  69. 4:13it will appear in the shape of information
  70. 4:15so if this information considered as an output will become an input
  71. 4:18if the same information become an input, it will be like what?
  72. 4:21Let’s take the simple example who is relating us to the word analyzing
  73. 4:26what analyzing means?
  74. 4:28Analyzing means returning a thing to his components
  75. 4:32it means you will make a breakdown from totality into parts; you will transform the totality into parts, so how?
  76. 4:38The simple figure that we had already talked about it and needed in our daily lives
  77. 4:43is for example the blood picture analysis, the picture of blood how it begins ?
  78. 4:46it starts with taking a drop of blood
  79. 4:49the drop of blood in this image
  80. 4:52so what Is analysis?
  81. 4:53It means we found its components, but we don’t know its components, who will tell us the components?
  82. 4:57Of course the science
  83. 4:58so the science tells us what the components of blood drop are
  84. 5:01what is the living form? Animal or human being
  85. 5:04so if it is human what is the gender? And what’s the state of the gender
  86. 5:07so we need you to do a problem definition at first
  87. 5:10so we started to say with the previous step in the episodes that we had talked about the steps of scientific research
  88. 5:15the six steps, they start with problem definition
  89. 5:17so here need I form a problem definition to state? What is the subject? What is this point?
  90. 5:21Good, after the problem definition will provide me with all those details
  91. 5:25I’ll go to the literature review, the literature gives me standards
  92. 5:28tells me about models, tells me about theory, tells me about concept
  93. 5:32so what is the difference between all these names ? it will come in details in an episode
  94. 5:35and will tell the difference between all of them words
  95. 5:37so the literature review here, will help me with the standards
  96. 5:40it says of example here, for simplification
  97. 5:43that there is white blood cells and red blood cells and there is no problem if we add yellow blood cells and green blood cells
  98. 5:48just a group of cells with different colors and different values
  99. 5:53so who told me this ? the literature.
  100. 5:55so this is the standard, the model, the theory that I took from literature after the comprehensive literature review
  101. 5:59Good.
  102. 6:01The data that I have which is the blood picture
  103. 6:03taken form the patient or that human being,
  104. 6:06what is its value?
  105. 6:07Ten, twenty, twenty, and what is its condition?
  106. 6:10Its is doing well in white, red
  107. 6:12but in yellow and green there is a negativity,
  108. 6:15there is minus ten, minus twenty for example.
  109. 6:17So what should we do?
  110. 6:18There comes the role of the word after analyzing.
  111. 6:22If analyzing was the decomposition
  112. 6:24of the total component
  113. 6:25into its essentials, or its main components,
  114. 6:29then what is synthesizing? It is recreation
  115. 6:31and reconstruction of the components, how is that?
  116. 6:34Here we can grab these components.
  117. 6:37First of all we can review it in literature,
  118. 6:39What does it mean when there is a lack of Y and G,
  119. 6:43and an abundance in the W and R?
  120. 6:46What can literature advise us?
  121. 6:48Because literature won't only give us theory, science or model
  122. 6:52it will provide us with science application too to know how to handle it.
  123. 6:56So you start saying that if we group all these together,
  124. 7:00the shape of synthesizing which is the recreation and the development of a solution,
  125. 7:05as if I did an analysis and a conclusion, I extracted a conclusion .
  126. 7:09so I was able to find a new solution responding to the essential problem definition above.
  127. 7:15He may simply says that the yellow green cells are completed
  128. 7:21therefore, the patient is healthy according to the standards,
  129. 7:24or he may say something that is regenerated, for example "take a vacation",
  130. 7:29as some physicians or doctors advise us.
  131. 7:32they said the components that you have according to the science and scientific standards indicate that you should have a rest
  132. 7:38so that is the regeneration expected from you in the scientific research
  133. 7:42doing this you were able to gather from the first problem definition step, decompose, recreate relating to literature
  134. 7:49so you finished the six step in an integrated way
  135. 7:52some software’s that we have on our mobile phone does this in text to speech
  136. 7:56the text that you have is written, and someone had sent you a messages named good morning
  137. 8:00so he will divide it into, decompose it, M;O;R;N;I:N;G
  138. 8:05and he possesses vocal registrations for all these letters and their compositions
  139. 8:09so he had done a an analysis
  140. 8:10from what he done it ? it’s from database and the science inside the mobile as a software
  141. 8:15so when he completes this, he will return only the composed word ? Or only separated letters?
  142. 8:20No, after he decomposed, divided, and refereed to science
  143. 8:22he will regenerate this, and pronounce the word good morning in the vocal tone you are hearing
  144. 8:29so we began to reach the word system, input, processing, output,
  145. 8:34and the output will need a feedback to be sure that this the output I needed
  146. 8:41and in the same time I need to manage a noise
  147. 8:44so as a researcher how all this will be accomplished?
  148. 8:46We will ask you, what is the input you used ? Where is the raw data you used ?
  149. 8:51You had applied what type of processing? Is there is processing types? Of course there are many
  150. 8:55the applied, the deductive and the basic inductive
  151. 8:58and the output generated is it complied with the input that we wanted?
  152. 9:03With the question? With the mejor question?
  153. 9:05with the major question and minor question and also with the problem we are looking for
  154. 9:08Yes it is aligned and complied with all these
  155. 9:09can you say here as you are talking about the system, How did you manage noise ?
  156. 9:15The noise in a usual system is like while I’m talking with you right now, "I had moved the picture"
  157. 9:19these actions represent a noise for you
  158. 9:20but I’m doing that as an experience to grab you attention while we are moving
  159. 9:23or a sound appears to interrupt me
  160. 9:26and also while we are communicating inside the system and doing a scientific research
  161. 9:32the researcher could provide an erroneous data, or provide some data that we hadn’t agreed on in this processing
  162. 9:37or he does another processing and doesn’t tell us about it
  163. 9:39this are the kind of noises that you should tell us and assure us
  164. 9:42sometimes a names appears, called hypothetical statements
  165. 9:44assumptions of the research, limitations of the research, and all of these are different from each other’s
  166. 9:49so we could ask you, how you did the encoding
  167. 9:52it means how you did you integrate the data together
  168. 9:55and how we will be able to understand the data you integrated previously
  169. 9:58so that the system, input and output have been done between data step and information and we have information as an outcome
  170. 10:06this out which is the same out here, that is information we began with
  171. 10:09so this is in the step of raw data and information
  172. 10:12it is correct that the information with is the output of the scientific research, that were produced by previous researchers will be used?
  173. 10:19is it permitted that I continue starting from his work ? Of course
  174. 10:22the multiple information that I had processed, the same ones will become an input
  175. 10:26it means the information here which is the outcome of a previous scientific research with a systematic approach, will be considered as an input for me
  176. 10:34and I will enter with in a new phase and a new process to produce an output
  177. 10:39this higher level is called knowledge
  178. 10:41so the multiple knowledge resulted by this scientific research, could be an input by processing you will get a higher level called in common wisdom
  179. 10:53there is the word 'process' here in the middle
  180. 10:56so every level of those
  181. 10:58is this level related or signify to what ?
  182. 11:02of course this level, from the beginning of data
  183. 11:07sorry we will start from the top, it's better
  184. 11:10the level related to the wisdom outcome, is called in science law or theory
  185. 11:17the outcome on the knowledge level is called model
  186. 11:21the outcome on the information level is called concept
  187. 11:25so what is the difference between the concept, model and theory law or others ( variables and construct)
  188. 11:30we will explain it in a separated episode which will take about the language of research
  189. 11:33you find the title : languages of research
  190. 11:37Good
  191. 11:37if all of those or each one of those is a product of a scientific research
  192. 11:42in which steps of the scientific research should, I put it?
  193. 11:45This step is proper for master degree phase or Master of Science or MBA degree
  194. 11:50in this phase the researcher is committed to gather much focused raw data on a precise and specific problem in order to produce information in a thesis form
  195. 12:03after that will came a researcher in doctoral degree, will continue by taking the multiple information
  196. 12:09these ones
  197. 12:10and do a processing in order to get a knowledge, a general and generic model
  198. 12:16so what is generic and limited?
  199. 12:18There is an episode which will show how to elaborate a problem definition using the nine elements model, and framework
  200. 12:26if you completed the knowledge part after doctorate
  201. 12:29I will do something called post-doctoral studies or research papers
  202. 12:33and I will publish it in order to transform all the knowledge into wisdom such as a law or a general theory
  203. 12:41of course there is a difference between the two which I will explain in the next episode, "languages of research"
  204. 12:46this episode will have another part related to definitions
  205. 12:52I will explain the rest of the remaining words, thank you so much
  206. 12:55we will meet in another episode, goodbye.
