Full transcript
- 0:06hello everyone
- 0:07a very warm welcome from edu supplement
- 0:10today we are here for another tutorial
- 0:14on scaps 1d simulation program
- 0:18in this video i will show you how you
- 0:21can
- 0:21vary the material parameters or
- 0:24different properties of the structure
- 0:27and get results from it to get the best
- 0:30out of it
- 0:31it will be convenient if you see our
- 0:34previous video
- 0:36which is scaps 1d tutorial a first look
- 0:40beginner's guide
- 0:41because it will cover the structural
- 0:43ideas
- 0:44and the basic ideas scaps 1d tutorial
- 0:48okay let's start so today what i'm going
- 0:51to show you
- 0:52is how you can vary the thickness of the
- 0:55absorber layer
- 0:56of this simple peripheral sky solar cell
- 0:59that
- 1:00we discussed in the previous video and
- 1:03get
- 1:03the all solar cell parameters that means
- 1:06open circuit voltage short circuit
- 1:08current field factor
- 1:09and efficiency for different thickness
- 1:13in a single run rather by running it
- 1:16multiple times
- 1:18so after uh getting the data you can
- 1:21plot
- 1:21them and or you can and analyze them
- 1:25and you can expect to have such kind of
- 1:29result
- 1:29that is the result shown here that is
- 1:32here
- 1:33this is the thickness and this is open
- 1:36circuit voltage
- 1:37thickness short circuit current then
- 1:39thickness
- 1:40field factor and thickness efficiency
- 1:43so let's begin our simulation
- 1:49so first you need to load the structure
- 1:52that we have already done so this is our
- 1:55structure
- 1:56and this is the structure we worked in
- 1:58the previous video
- 2:00so today our target is to change the
- 2:02thickness
- 2:03of the absorber layer what is purpose
- 2:06cut layer here
- 2:08what we can do we can manually change
- 2:10the thickness
- 2:11of this layer and take the data but it
- 2:13will be very tedious isn't it
- 2:16so caps gives us the opportunity to vary
- 2:19these
- 2:19parameters in a single run so today we
- 2:22will
- 2:24learn how to do that so for doing this
- 2:28what you have to do is that you need to
- 2:32go to
- 2:32that setup then you need
- 2:36to press add and there here you will get
- 2:40all the layers and interfaces
- 2:43associated with your structure that has
- 2:45been loaded
- 2:46or are taken in scaps
- 2:49here our target layer is pair of skype
- 2:52layer
- 2:53and in peripheral skype layer you will
- 2:56get
- 2:56all the material parameters
- 2:59associated with this perovskite layer
- 3:02and uh today
- 3:03our target material parameter should be
- 3:06thickness
- 3:07please carefully note that here the
- 3:09thickness is in micrometer
- 3:11so you need to give the variation data
- 3:15according to this unit so our today our
- 3:18target
- 3:18is to vary the material parameters from
- 3:21100 nanometer
- 3:23to 1500 nanometer so
- 3:26today if we want to change it from 100
- 3:29nanometer in micrometer that should be
- 3:310.1
- 3:32micrometer and if we want to end our
- 3:35simulation
- 3:36at 1500 nanometer so it should be
- 3:391.5 micrometer now comes
- 3:43important steps that is how what should
- 3:45be the
- 3:46interval or of the change that is
- 3:49in which interval you wanna take the
- 3:52data
- 3:52here today we wanna take the data at
- 3:55hundred nanometer interval
- 3:57so from hundred nanometer to 1500
- 4:00nanometer
- 4:01if you give 100 nanometer interval then
- 4:04there should be 15 points
- 4:06so here you cannot give interval rather
- 4:08you can give how many steps
- 4:11you want to consider between this start
- 4:13and end
- 4:15so here we wanna work with the linear
- 4:18scale
- 4:18uh but when you need to work with log
- 4:22scale i will show you in some other
- 4:24video
- 4:24uh the same it goes for custom list when
- 4:27you need to use custom list and how to
- 4:30use custom list i will show you in some
- 4:32other video
- 4:34so these are the parameters so let me
- 4:36refresh again so first you will go
- 4:38add then you will select the layer and
- 4:40in
- 4:41that layer or interface will select you
- 4:44will select the
- 4:45proper parameter that you want you want
- 4:47to vary and then you will set the
- 4:50starting point then the end point and
- 4:53the interval will be set
- 4:55by the steps so go to okay
- 4:58now we need to uh set up the simulation
- 5:01environment we give
- 5:02we need to give light to the solar cell
- 5:05then
- 5:06today we are interested only for typhi
- 5:09characteristic of the solar cell
- 5:11then let's give the starting value of
- 5:13the voltage as zero
- 5:15the end value is around two uh please
- 5:18note that
- 5:18why we are giving two is discussed in
- 5:21our previous video
- 5:22and we want to stop our simulation
- 5:25at voc so now
- 5:29what we will do is that we will
- 5:32do the batch calculation so we will
- 5:34start our batch calculation that is
- 5:36caps will change the thickness of the
- 5:40peripheral sky
- 5:41layer and give us the data but please
- 5:43keep
- 5:44a very careful notion here because there
- 5:48will be some
- 5:49issues that you may find and get
- 5:51confused
- 5:52so let's start the batch calculation
- 5:58oops the calculation didn't work
- 6:01it may happen when you are varying data
- 6:04there are cert
- 6:05for certain values the simulation may
- 6:07not convert because it is a numerical
- 6:09process and it is very much prone
- 6:12not to converge so for such kind of
- 6:14situation you don't need to get
- 6:16panic rather what you need to do is that
- 6:19you just ignore it
- 6:20and see if if this becomes
- 6:23um so it if it's resolved in the further
- 6:28variations so here for 100 nanometer the
- 6:31simulation didn't work
- 6:34so press ok that means you are you're
- 6:36ignoring it
- 6:38so for now we are 200 nanometer
- 6:41again the simulation isn't working so
- 6:44it's little bit concerning
- 6:46so let's see what happens when we ignore
- 6:48it
- 6:49so let's ignore it now 300 nanometer
- 6:53it's working 400 nanometer
- 6:56working 500 nanometer working
- 7:00600 700
- 7:06800 900
- 7:121 micrometer that is thousand
- 7:15eleven hundred twelve hundred
- 7:20thirteen hundred fourteen hundred
- 7:25and last but not the least fifteen
- 7:28hundred
- 7:29well so it didn't work for the initial
- 7:32initial values that is for two values
- 7:34but
- 7:35finally we got result from 300 nanometer
- 7:38thickness to 1500 nanometer thickness
- 7:42so let's see how the results came so
- 7:45here we are interested for iv
- 7:46characteristic
- 7:47so let's go to iv characteristic yes so
- 7:50these are my data
- 7:53so now where we can find the data so
- 7:55total 15 simulations has been done
- 7:58but yes we didn't get uh first
- 8:01and the second so out of 15 simulations
- 8:03we have got from
- 8:04three to fifteen that is total two uh 13
- 8:07simulations
- 8:09so to get this data you
- 8:12need to press show so
- 8:15to get the data you need to press show
- 8:17so it will show all the
- 8:19simulation data it has extracted for
- 8:22this iv characteristic
- 8:24so you just can extract this data
- 8:27in some other video maybe i will show
- 8:29you how you can extract data in a very
- 8:32efficient way
- 8:33but not today so after extracting all
- 8:37these data
- 8:38you will have this this table
- 8:41so here is thickness for every thickness
- 8:44you are having
- 8:45open circuit voltage short circuit
- 8:47current fill factor
- 8:49and efficiency now with this data you
- 8:52can do further analysis
- 8:54like you can take them to any data
- 8:56related software
- 8:57and plot them or do uh some
- 9:00uh further analysis for your solar cell
- 9:03or characterize
- 9:05your solar cell in a different way or
- 9:07optimize your
- 9:08solar cell in some other video i will
- 9:11show you
- 9:11how you can read these data
- 9:14in different kinds of data related
- 9:17software like one of them what i
- 9:19use mostly is matlab and i will show you
- 9:23how you can read data in matlab
- 9:25and then plot it so that
- 9:28is all about today's video that we have
- 9:31learned today
- 9:32how you can do batch simulation and
- 9:36you can have data by varying
- 9:39thickness of any layer of
- 9:42your solar cell but you can do it by
- 9:44varying
- 9:45all other parameters in the same way
- 9:50the next video i will show you how you
- 9:53can work with different kinds of
- 9:55bulk defects and different kinds of
- 9:57interface defects and how you can
- 10:00vary them so thank you very much
