2. 0:02I have to talk "Stranger Things" with you.
3. 0:04By the way, I think this is --
4. 0:05I mean, it's a lot on you, from what I've seen, so far,
5. 0:08but I want to get into all that stuff.
6. 0:10First, you're originally from Texas, correct?
7. 0:13-Yep. -But you got your start
8. 0:15on Broadway here in New York City.
9. 0:17-Yeah. -That's fantastic. How did that happen?
10. 0:19-It was never really supposed to happen.
11. 0:22Yeah, born in a small town in Texas.
12. 0:24My parents are both teachers
13. 0:25and my dad was also the high school football coach,
14. 0:27so it was kind of very much living
15. 0:29in like the "Friday Night Lights"...
16. 0:31[ Laughter ] -Wow! -...Texas Forever, kind of world.
17. 0:33-Do you have brothers?
18. 0:34-Yeah, I have three older brothers
19. 0:35and a little sister. It's a little big family.
20. 0:37-Were they on the football team and stuff, the brothers?
21. 0:39-The older one, the two oldest were.
22. 0:41-[Both] Yeah. -And no one into acting,
23. 0:42in your whole family?
24. 0:43-No, my my brother Mitchell,
25. 0:45who's like closest in age with me,
26. 0:47we just started acting together and I think we were like
27. 0:50on our eighth at-home production of "Wicked" --

30. 0:56-Oh, yeah, like two-man show.

32. 0:59I was Elphaba.

34. 1:02-And perform for parties or...?
35. 1:03-No, just like our parents
36. 1:05[ Laughter ] -Wow! and that was it.
37. 1:06-I love that. -And we did everything.
38. 1:08Not just "Wicked," like everything.
39. 1:10-Yeah, we were just speaking about --
40. 1:12-Oh, yeah, well, that was later on.
41. 1:13-But look at you. You're Annie.

46. 1:20-I think 11 or 10. Yeah, 10 or 11.

51. 1:31We had Taylor Swift on the show and we were talking
52. 1:33about her short film to her song "All Too Well."
53. 1:35-Yes. -And you're fantastic in it.

57. 1:42-And Taylor was saying that she wasn't going
58. 1:45to make it, if you didn't star in it.
59. 1:47She really wanted you to star in this film.

61. 1:51-No! Like I didn't know she knew I existed.
62. 1:54[ Laughter ] And I think, if she would've asked me to like be a tree
63. 1:57in something,
64. 1:59[ Laughter ] then I would've said yes like in a heartbeat.
65. 2:00-Yeah. I want to be a tree in a Taylor --

101. 3:10darker and scarier than ever. -It is.
102. 3:12-The kids are obviously like we're a lot more mature now,
103. 3:15so the show has kind of matured with it, in a way.
104. 3:18And Max, you know, she's not doing too hot.
105. 3:20You're kind of getting to see her in like her emo phase a bit.
106. 3:23[ Laughter ] -Yeah.
107. 3:25-And I don't want to say that was like fun to explore,
108. 3:26but it was like a nice like challenge.
109. 3:29-Yeah. The early reviews, people are saying
110. 3:31this might be the best season of "Stranger Things"
111. 3:34because it's just so well done.
112. 3:35There's a new character.
113. 3:37Explain who this person is.

156. 4:57I was living my like Cathy Rigby "Peter Pan" fantasy for a bit.

159. 5:03-You were doing "Peter Pan" while up in the wires?
160. 5:05-Yeah, it was just like a little bit.
