- 0:56you had to explain that for all in it
- 0:59just one or two sentences how would you
- 1:03describe to be on death row horrible
- 1:06horrible okay I can't put that in the
- 1:09sentence I mean it's just immeasurable
- 1:11as to what happens to a person being
- 1:15especially being accused of a crime they
- 1:17didn't commit and you being placed is
- 1:20torture it's not only that but you lost
- 1:22your your little baby um another
- 1:25question I have for you so when were you
- 1:28released when did you step on a December
- 1:3017th of 1995 and you've been doing what
- 1:34since then I've been speaking and
- 1:36talking about my case trying to raise my

- 1:47daughter has the same disease my son
- 1:50back from and I have 18 year old and a
- 1:5229 year old my life is still a struggle
- 1:55in many ways
- 1:56it really is but I guess compared to
- 1:58death row it's better yeah it's
- 2:01everything's relative at the guy in
- 2:02Stein was right right and what do you
- 2:05want to what what is the awareness that
- 2:07you want to bring to the rest of the
- 2:09population that probably isn't aware of
- 2:12what happens behind those prison walls
- 2:14no I mean if you don't have a strong
- 2:16constitution it's really horrible i mean
- 2:19it's is torture like i said and i think
- 2:22that we need to change the system I mean
- 2:25the system has a lot of errors and as
- 2:27long as we have those errors we're going
- 2:29to keep making mistakes like they did in
- 2:32my case would you say there's a lot of
- 2:34people behind bars who should not be
- 2:35behind I would say that yes and and
- 2:39unfortunately it's racially motivated
- 2:41and that's the sad part but that's a
- 2:44fact right and you've come here to talk
- 2:46that the unitarian universalist church
- 2:48yes I come to speak to them hopefully to
- 2:52you know tilting my story and open the
- 2:54hearts and minds and you know see what
- 2:57you know what can be done with Florida's
- 3:00statues on death penalty and things like
- 3:03that hoping it'll bring about awareness
- 3:05and change how many times a year do you
- 3:08talk to groups what I do is often as a
- 3:10cannon doesn't I don't have a set time I
- 3:13just do it when I'm of it want to meet
- 3:14it all right now what do you think is
- 3:16the reception how would you what how do
- 3:19people receive you I have been received
- 3:21great i mean people love to talk to meee
- 3:23knows especially once they hear my story
- 3:26yeah yeah i saw you there in that room
- 3:28or all those people a moment ago you
- 3:30were telling them a little bit of what
- 3:32you're going to talk about tomorrow
- 3:33january twenty first but there was a lot
- 3:36of love in that room for you yeah not
- 3:38appreciated they were really they're
- 3:39really nice walleyes i thank you very
- 3:42much and if anybody wanted to know a
- 3:44little bit more zero website or a place
- 3:46that could go to phone get more well you
- 3:48can look me up on facebook and mostly
- 3:50most of the time every speaking
- 3:52engagement that i went to i talked about
- 3:53it what I've done and my book is are at
- 3:57Sabrina Butler webs Sabrina Butler
- 4:00Williams calm but unfortunately right
- 4:02now I'm out of books so you just have to
- 4:04keep checking into
- 4:05and the title of that book is exonerated
- 4:07this to bring about the story all right
- 4:09well you know I hope your story inspires
- 4:12a lot of people with courage not just
- 4:15those behind bars but those on the
- 4:18outside who can make the change to help
- 4:20those people well that's what we need
- 4:21because see without the people on the
- 4:23outside we don't have a voice when
- 4:26you're behind those bars you need
- 4:27someone outside to speak for those it's
- 4:29inside right I saw a lot of petitions a
- 4:31lot of things to move this forward and
- 4:34or not I thank you i think our community
- 4:37needs people like you who bring this
- 4:40story to the front then and see what we
- 4:43can do to change this world
