Full transcript
- 0:00in the things of Christ or are we not
- 0:03producing fruit? Are we bad? What are we
- 0:07producing?
- 0:09>> That is the good question. So, we all
- 0:11know that the title of the sermon is
- 0:15rooted in Christ. But my sermon is what
- 0:18are you rooted in? Colossians 2 6-7
- 0:23says, "As you therefore have received
- 0:25Jesus Christ or Christ Jesus the Lord,
- 0:28so walk in him.
- 0:30Walk in him. Know your Bible. Don't just
- 0:34read a scripture to get done.
- 0:36>> Walk in, rooted and built up in him and
- 0:41established.
- 0:45>> Established in the faith.
- 0:47>> Amen.
- 0:48>> As you have been taught, abounding in
- 0:51him,
- 0:54eat it with thanksgiving.
- 0:56>> Yes.
- 0:58So two weeks ago,
- 1:01I had a corner classroom at school.
- 1:04Okay, I'm blessed like that. And there
- 1:08by this classroom, there's this tree
- 1:11that is growing and I love this tree
- 1:14because I love nature. Okay.
- 1:17And then I seen
- 1:20they was chopping this tree down. And I
- 1:24went outside and I said,
- 1:39And then he said to me this, he said,
- 1:57He says to me,
- 1:58>> so I said to him, so Mash, chop the tree
- 2:01down. Can't we just do something to save
- 2:05this tree? And he said, no,
- 2:07unfortunately not. He says, you see,
- 2:09when you walk past this tree, it gives
- 2:12the shade. It does everything, but what
- 2:14it's doing down inside deep in the
- 2:17roots,
- 2:19it's causing damage. Jesus.
- 2:23>> He says the roots have gone so deep into
- 2:25the thing. It is lifting it up. The
- 2:28failing up. Can you see how the fing you
- 2:30know when failing does that?
- 2:31>> He says it's lifting up the fing. HE
- 2:34SAID BUT so
- 2:36it's causing your class foundation to
- 2:39move.
- 2:42>> And you know this started getting me
- 2:44thinking about foundations
- 2:47>> and what is growing inside of us. Are we
- 2:51doing damage
- 2:53>> or are we bringing good in our
- 2:55foundation? We have to ask ourself the
- 2:57things because sometimes you see the
- 3:00visible that we see is not the
- 3:02invisible.
- 3:04>> Amen.
- 3:05>> The visible can look good. I inspired
- 3:08you. I can do all of this.
- 3:12M
- 3:15>> I had the privilege of speaking to
- 3:17somebody the other day and she was
- 3:19complaining to me about her family
- 3:21doesn't like her and
- 3:24and I'm looking at her and I said to my
- 3:27sister
- 3:28think about your family
- 3:31I said why do you think they going on
- 3:35like that with you
- 3:37I said they have reason because now
- 3:40listen to the whole story I always tell
- 3:42people don't come to me for counsel
- 3:43because you're not going to get the
- 3:44answer you want.
- 3:46>> I'm not the perfect counselor. Okay?
- 3:49>> I'm going to bring the truth.
- 3:51>> And I said to her, "Think about how your
- 3:53parents feel. Think about how your
- 3:55siblings feel. Think about everything.
- 3:57The the road to going down is not okay."
- 4:02>> She got up very angry. She walked out
- 4:06and I said, "Father, there can go, your
- 4:10blood can go. So you go and heal her
- 4:13>> because I'm not going to run after her
- 4:16>> and Satan will come back.
- 4:18>> Yes.
- 4:19>> You need to grow in the things of
- 4:22Christ.
- 4:23>> Your roots must be right. Your roots
- 4:26must be okay. So there I I've asked that
- 4:30question already, right?
- 4:33So Ephesians 4:31-32
- 4:36says,
- 4:38"Get rid of all bitterness, rage, and
- 4:40anger, brawling, and slander along with
- 4:44every form of malice.
- 4:47Be kind and compassionate to one
- 4:49another, forgiving each other, just as
- 4:53in Christ God forgave."
- 5:00>> God forgave you. So why is it that we
- 5:03walk around with things that we can't
- 5:05forive?
- 5:06>> Why can't we forgive him?
- 5:11>> Listen. So but I want to say this to you
- 5:14now in this pulling down of this three
- 5:20went further to explain to me because
- 5:22he's like that
- 5:26and he said to me he said
- 5:30Fore
- 5:49now I want to ask you
- 5:53if
- 5:55Jesus blood cleansed you why would you
- 5:58allow
- 6:00to come into your life.
- 6:02>> Why would you put old things back into
- 6:05your life?
- 6:07>> Because old things don't belong in your
- 6:09life at all. So what are you rooted in?
- 6:13I want to tell you quickly the story of
- 6:15Lord's wife. We all know that she was
- 6:18turned into salt, a pillar of salt. And
- 6:20that's where we stopped the story. Isn't
- 6:22that so? Because of a disobedience, all
- 6:25of those things.
- 6:27But and Lord's story is in Genesis 19
- 6:3126.
- 6:33Now, here's what Lord's wife does. They
- 6:36are called out, right? And as she's
- 6:38walking, she looks back.
- 6:43>> How many times don't we look back?
- 6:46>> Yeah.
- 6:47>> How many times don't we look back?
- 6:50And so this is what I want to say to you
- 6:52is
- 6:55when you look back there is a word for
- 6:57it in Hebrew. It's called nabat
- 7:02which doesn't just mean to glance.
- 7:06It means to look with regard with
- 7:10longing with consideration to gaze with
- 7:14an attachment.
- 7:16M
- 7:17>> meaning that when she looked back
- 7:23>> this was her roots.
- 7:24>> Yes.
- 7:25>> She was rooted in this place in
- 7:27sovereign.
- 7:28>> Isn't that so? She wanted to remain at
- 7:31this but let us
- 7:32>> Yes.
- 7:34>> Some of us can wait
- 7:38to go back.
- 7:39>> Yeah.
- 7:44>> I know it takes a long time. takes a
- 7:46long time. Born again doesn't mean that
- 7:49I'm born again. Hey, I can come up here.
- 7:52I can receive the Lord as Lord and
- 7:54Savior. But what does it mean for me to
- 7:56get to where I'm supposed to be? I must
- 7:59be rooted in Christ. I must start
- 8:01studying the word of the Lord. I must
- 8:03start getting myself spiritually ready
- 8:06to be where I'm supposed to be. I MUST
- 8:09RENEW MY MIND CONSTANTLY. THE OLD ME
- 8:12MUST LEAVE.
- 8:15>> You know, I was saying this to another
- 8:17teacher the other day this week and to
- 8:22speak obvious. I was so angry all the
- 8:26time because he had some ugly mouth
- 8:27sometimes and I was angry man. I was
- 8:30thinking everything by force back
- 8:33and I said to I went to her one morning
- 8:35and I said look my sister comes very
- 8:37quickly. I said, "This anger needs to
- 8:40leave me because I don't know what it
- 8:41is." And as I'm walking down the to my
- 8:44classroom after we prayed
- 8:52and I can tell you why I was angry
- 8:54because at the school some boy stabbed
- 8:57another boy with a compass. You know
- 9:01that was the mess.
- 9:02>> Yeah. Yeah.
- 9:05>> And this anger wounds up in there. And
- 9:08I'm like, what are we doing to our
- 9:10children? I want to talk to you parents.
- 9:19Where's the love you're supposed to show
- 9:21your children?
- 9:27>> When we remain angry, guess what? We are
- 9:29putting that anger into our children.
- 9:34>> That very same anger is going into our
- 9:36children.
- 9:38So my question to you is why are you
- 9:40doing this constant this constant why is
- 9:44smiling between your colors?
- 9:49You smile with the world.
- 9:51>> You come to church. You smile with Le.
- 9:53You smile with everybody. But what you
- 9:55doing at home?
- 9:56>> Isn't your ministry, your family, your
- 9:58first man?
- 10:00>> Yes.
- 10:03>> So we need to come to a place. We can't
- 10:05be like God's wife where we are
- 10:07physically living
- 10:12but we are still looking at what we
- 10:15want.
- 10:16>> Yes.
- 10:17We cannot remain in our sin.
- 10:21>> Because when we remain in our sin, we
- 10:24cannot renew our minds.
- 10:28So that's why it became a pillar of
- 10:30salt.
- 10:32So salt in the ancient world was a
- 10:34symbol of preservation
- 10:37>> which means she was preserved in what
- 10:40she wanted.
- 10:42>> Are we preserved in what we want?
- 10:54to be a
- 11:03anointing inside of you so that you can
- 11:06understand what it is you are supposed
- 11:10to be in Christ.
- 11:14Why would Jesus say now? Yeah. In Luke
- 11:1817:32, it says, "Remember Lot's wife."
- 11:24>> That's what Jesus says. Remember Lot's
- 11:26wife. Because God is wanting you to
- 11:28remember what happened to her.
- 11:33>> So this is a warning. When Jesus says,
- 11:35"Remember something, remember, sister. I
- 11:38need to warn you about something."
- 11:41>> Amen. Now we can go to number one. What
- 11:43is hidden?
- 11:45The death of a tree.
- 11:48So what is hidden
- 11:51can eventually affect what is visible.
- 11:56So the trees the root of the tree was
- 11:58hidden. Nobody walking past could see
- 12:02what was happening underneath the
- 12:04ground. But although the roots were
- 12:07hidden, their effects were visible.
- 12:13So when you
- 12:16and I
- 12:18included in that okay keep treating
- 12:20somebody badly
- 12:23>> what fruit am I producing
- 12:27>> I'm hurting this person I always say to
- 12:31the children at school as well I said be
- 12:33careful guys that teachers don't speak
- 12:36over your lives it's okay for you to
- 12:38come and make a noise do what you do and
- 12:40wanting to be rude to the teachers, but
- 12:43when the teacher says something, there's
- 12:46power in what she say because remember
- 12:49God has given her authority or him
- 12:52authority over you.
- 12:53>> Yes.
- 12:55>> And so we must be very careful what we
- 12:58do. So we don't understand the ground is
- 13:01being disturbed.
- 13:03>> The foundation is moving. The very
- 13:05foundation that you and I are standing
- 13:07on is moving.
- 13:10And we've got to be careful about that.
- 13:13And eventually the roots have the
- 13:18potential
- 13:19>> to bring the building down.
- 13:21>> Yes.
- 13:23>> So what's rooted in you can bring
- 13:25somebody down.
- 13:28>> Hebrews chap the uh uh 12:15 reminds us
- 13:34that we should not have roots of
- 13:36bitterness.
- 13:39But this is a root and roots have one
- 13:41purpose. They grow.
- 13:43>> Yes.
- 13:44>> Amen. So I want to say to you, you must
- 13:47be rooted by going deeper in the things
- 13:51of the Lord. I'm going to give you that
- 13:53and I'm flipping the thing for you.
- 13:55Okay? So be rooted in the things of the
- 13:58Lord. A tree is only as strong as the
- 14:02roots that cannot be seen.
- 14:06You need to go deeper in prayer, deeper
- 14:10in the word, deeper in worship, deeper
- 14:14in obedience, and deeper in knowing his
- 14:17heart.
- 14:18>> Does God know your heart?
- 14:22Does he know your heart? Can we How many
- 14:25of us can agree that we can't hide from
- 14:27Christ? We can all hide from people. Of
- 14:30course, I can I can look very nice and
- 14:32guy in front of you. But before Christ,
- 14:35I really am standing. And you know one
- 14:38thing I have learned, I have learned
- 14:40that I live my life according to the
- 14:42Bible. That's why don't entertain
- 14:44nonsense anymore.
- 14:47>> You want to talk nonsense to me, I put
- 14:49you on your place immediately.
- 14:53I belong to this group and one of the
- 14:56people I can't say the group um because
- 14:59it's worldly
- 15:01but one of these guys decided
- 15:13people I know from years ago. I got on
- 15:15that group. Hey, when I was done there,
- 15:18the sea could not rush into
- 15:21because I asked him one question.
- 15:24I said, we are trying to raise the young
- 15:27people up with dignity, with morality.
- 15:32Who are you old man? And I put IT LIKE
- 15:35THAT. WHO ARE YOU OLD man that you
- 15:37should do things like this?
- 15:40Yes.
- 15:49>> Who looks at things like this? Please,
- 15:51man. And do you know what? Can I tell
- 15:53you something, guys? Watch your
- 15:55children's phones.
- 15:57>> We've got few children at school with
- 15:59this rubbish on their phones.
- 16:01>> So, be careful of not knowing what's
- 16:04happening with your children.
- 16:06Somebody asked me the other day, a lady
- 16:08took a lift with me and I was listening
- 16:11to 94.7 or something like that and a
- 16:13song came on and and I started singing
- 16:16and she says to me, "You're singing
- 16:17worldly songs?" I said, "Yes."
- 16:23And I said to her, "Listen, my sister,
- 16:26if you're going to be so holy and you
- 16:27don't know what's going on in the world,
- 16:29you're going to fall short because guess
- 16:31what your children are doing out there?"
- 16:33Yes.
- 16:34>> So get to know what they listening to.
- 16:36Get to know the words of the songs. I
- 16:39say, you know, when I get into my
- 16:40children's car and a song come up, they
- 16:52what your children are doing.
- 16:55>> You can't be rooted in Christ and your
- 16:57children is doing something else.
- 16:59>> Do we understand? That's why we have a
- 17:01generation that is going haywire.
- 17:07So Jeremiah 17:7 to8 says um compares
- 17:13when compares the person who trusts in
- 17:16the Lord to a tree planted by the water.
- 17:19Its roots go deep and when difficult
- 17:22seasons come, it does not stop producing
- 17:25fruit.
- 17:27Doesn't matter what you're going
- 17:29through, you cannot stop producing
- 17:31fruit.
- 17:33We all go through things.
- 17:36We can tell you a few stories.
- 17:41Number two, I'm going fast. There's some
- 17:43things I'm leaving out, but it's okay.
- 17:46you will catch the gist of it, right?
- 17:50You can't see the root, but you can see
- 17:53the fruit.
- 17:56>> Jesus said in Matthew 7:16, you will
- 18:00recognize them by their fruits.
- 18:04>> You may not see somebody's roots, but
- 18:07eventually you will see their fruit. If
- 18:10bitterness is rooted in you, it will
- 18:13eventually produce bitter fruit. Yes.
- 18:16>> If unforgiveness is rooted in you, it
- 18:19will eventually affect your
- 18:21relationships.
- 18:22>> Yes.
- 18:23>> Can I tell you something? Currently,
- 18:26relationships, marriages,
- 18:29>> mother, daughter, mother, father, son,
- 18:31relationships is under attack. And if
- 18:33you sitting here, I'm telling you, get
- 18:36out of it as fast as possible. You do
- 18:39not want to lose your children.
- 18:41>> Yes.
- 18:43>> LOVE YOUR CHILDREN.
- 18:45DOESN'T MATTER WHAT THEY DID. Didn't
- 18:47Jesus love you no matter what you did?
- 18:51>> He loved you no matter what. And how
- 18:53many times don't we slip up and he still
- 18:55loves us.
- 18:57>> He still loves us.
- 19:00>> Love your kids, man. Come on.
- 19:03>> If there's something, Pastor Shannon,
- 19:05that is dear to my heart is the
- 19:08children. You know, these children I
- 19:10work with on a daily basis and sit THERE
- 19:14AND SAY, "MAN, YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT I'M
- 19:16GOING THROUGH.
- 19:28My father, my mother don't care.
- 19:35>> We supposed to love our children, man.
- 19:38>> Yeah.
- 19:40>> Didn't you make mistakes in your life? I
- 19:42WANT TO know their questions.
- 19:44>> I know life is tough.
- 19:47I know we got a lot to do.
- 19:50>> But my goodness, what is wrong with you?
- 19:55How did you get here where you are?
- 19:59>> Do you think you were good all your
- 20:00life?
- 20:03>> I always tell people unless you were
- 20:04born born again please.
- 20:15>> You see sometimes our pride is so rooted
- 20:19deep inside of us. That is why we can't
- 20:21forgive our children.
- 20:23>> Yes.
- 20:25which is not okay. It's not called
- 20:27matters.
- 20:32Our pride affects our marriages. It
- 20:36affects our relationships with our
- 20:38children. It affects everything. Even
- 20:41with the people outside, your neighbor
- 20:49with your mail.
- 20:55So if rejection is rooted in you, you
- 20:58may begin pushing pushing people away
- 21:01who genuinely love you in pain. If pain
- 21:05is rooted in you and you never allow God
- 21:08to heal you, you may begin hurting
- 21:10people who never cause solutions.
- 21:20If you have rejection, if you have an
- 21:22original wound, go and seek help.
- 21:27>> There's nothing wrong with it.
- 21:28>> Amen.
- 21:30>> We need to be rooted in the right
- 21:32things.
- 21:35>> Jesus saved me. Jesus delivered me. I am
- 21:40born again. Those is the words that we
- 21:42keep saying to people. But the fruit
- 21:45that we produce as butter
- 21:48of
- 21:50that is why some people tell me they say
- 22:02love
- 22:04>> in the love of Christ because God is
- 22:06love. God loved us so much that he DIED
- 22:10ON THAT VERY FREE.
- 22:11>> AMEN.
- 22:14>> AMEN.
- 22:15>> AMEN.
- 22:16>> Ephesians 3:17-19
- 22:19speaks about being rooted and
- 22:21established in love.
- 22:25>> Rooted and established in love.
- 22:28So the love of Christ must become more
- 22:30than something we talk about.
- 22:34Jesus loves you. Jesus loves you.
- 22:38>> The point is do I show you that Jesus
- 22:40loves you?
- 22:45>> It be it must become something that is
- 22:48settled within us.
- 22:50>> Yes.
- 22:51>> The cross is the greatest demonstration
- 22:54of God's love.
- 22:57Yes,
- 22:58>> Jesus gave himself for us. His blood was
- 23:01shed for us.
- 23:04Therefore, when we understand what
- 23:06Christ has done, we don't have to live
- 23:09constantly questioning him.
- 23:12>> Yes.
- 23:14>> We keep saying, does God really love me?
- 23:20You know our our church
- 23:23our church yo your little sister there
- 23:25in the west
- 23:28so many people are going through so many
- 23:30challenges at the moment
- 23:33>> and all I say is pray things people
- 23:36don't want to hear pray
- 23:38>> stay in Christ don't move don't become
- 23:41move don't do anything there's young men
- 23:44sitting there that has lost people and
- 23:46we say you stay in God. We go, we rally
- 23:50around them. We are in their faces. We
- 23:53don't leave them alone. We say to them,
- 23:55you are loved
- 23:56>> because Jesus Christ loves you.
- 24:00>> You remain grounded. You remain in him.
- 24:04>> Don't let the WINDS COME. WHICH ROCK ARE
- 24:06YOU UPON?
- 24:08>> YES.
- 24:11>> SO, the cross has answered your
- 24:13questions.
- 24:14>> Yeah.
- 24:15>> Does God love me? Yes. Look at the cross
- 24:18and you'll know he loves you.
- 24:20>> Amen.
- 24:21>> So when I am rooted in the love of
- 24:24Christ, I don't have to be shaken by
- 24:26rejection of people
- 24:29because I'm established in the
- 24:32acceptance of God.
- 24:34>> Amen.
- 24:36>> Number three, what are you allowing to
- 24:40grow?
- 24:41>> What are you allowing to grow?
- 24:51The tree at the school was not cut down
- 24:55because somebody thought it was in the
- 24:57way.
- 24:58>> Yes.
- 24:58>> Or I thought it's making my class dark.
- 25:02No, that's not the reason why it was cut
- 25:04down. It was cut down because it was
- 25:07destroying. It was becoming a
- 25:09destructional
- 25:12power.
- 25:26So what is growing in me that is
- 25:29affecting the people around me?
- 25:32What is growing in me that is affecting
- 25:35the people around me is the question.
- 25:42Am I growing in love, joy, peace, and
- 25:46patience? You know, the fruit of the
- 25:47spirit. Or am I growing in bitterness,
- 25:50ugliness? You know, I went to a lady's
- 25:53ministry once about couple of years ago.
- 25:56This place is the name is also los.
- 26:04Yeah, I know it's Rihanna, pastor. And
- 26:06she said, are we grounded in
- 26:09uglification?
- 26:13She asked this question. Are you rooted
- 26:15in uglyation?
- 26:22If you are, become planted in God.
- 26:26Become planted in the ways of the Lord.
- 26:31Don't be uprooted by producing nothing
- 26:33in the sun. Nothing.
- 26:37And you see that I put that there. You
- 26:39know where they come from.
- 26:42>> You see that there? You see that all the
- 26:44behind
- 26:46it is that fire stokes. You need to
- 26:50start stoing your fire.
- 27:08>> Okay. And so what kind of fruit is
- 27:11my root producing?
- 27:15So rooted people produce fruit.
- 27:18A healthy tree does not have to struggle
- 27:21to prove that it is alive. Eventually
- 27:25the fruit reveals roots.
- 27:31>> Can I can I blow? Can I blow the wind?
- 27:36And when I come and I blow over you,
- 27:39hey, can you someone catch my laughter
- 27:41and my joy? When I blow over you, can
- 27:43you catch my healing? Can when I blow
- 27:46over you, can you catch my anointing?
- 27:48What are you catching from me?
- 27:51>> When the winds blow, you must be able to
- 27:54feel me, man.
- 28:01Have you ever Why are you blowing
- 28:04around?
- 28:06What sounds are you making? Galatians
- 28:095:22-23
- 28:12gives us the fruit of the spirit and I
- 28:15spoke about it. Isn't that so? And the
- 28:18one that I like to talk about is the
- 28:20self-control.
- 28:23We need to have self-control. Yes, we
- 28:26can get angry. I don't say we don't get
- 28:29angry. All of us get angry. But do we
- 28:32have selfont control?
- 28:37We can't be angry to hurt somebody else.
- 28:40>> We must be angry to fix something. That
- 28:44is what I say.
- 28:45>> We have a rule in our house between
- 28:48myself and David.
- 28:52And we say to each other, we're not
- 28:54going to say nice things to each other.
- 28:56Walk away.
- 28:59Walk away. Come back.
- 29:04And we do that. It works. Walk away
- 29:08before you say hurtful things because we
- 29:11are people. We're going to say hurtful
- 29:14things to each other.
- 29:20So what is growing from my roots? When
- 29:24someone hurts me, is Christ love
- 29:26growing? When I'm afraid, is his peace
- 29:30growing?
- 29:33When I'm disappointed,
- 29:35is his joy still growing? And when I'm
- 29:38treated unfairly, is his patience
- 29:41growing inside of me?
- 29:45So, Matthew 7:1 17,
- 29:49Matthew 7:E1 17 says, reminds us that we
- 29:53have trees that have good fruit and bad
- 29:58fruit.
- 29:59>> Yes. So both is inside of us.
- 30:02>> Isn't that so?
- 30:04>> Number four, Jesus was hung on a tree
- 30:08that
- 30:10this is the essence I'm coming to.
- 30:13>> Jesus was hung on a tree, but he was not
- 30:16the source of destruction.
- 30:21>> Jesus was not the source of destruction.
- 30:23Yet they felt that they needed to chop
- 30:27that nail into his feet, into his hands,
- 30:31put the crown on his head. Remember?
- 30:33>> Yes.
- 30:34>> Yes.
- 30:35>> Now, what did I say about the tree? They
- 30:37uprooted. They drilled holes in it. They
- 30:40put slush in it.
- 30:42>> Yeah.
- 30:45>> Jesus was not the destruction.
- 30:47>> Yes. Amen.
- 30:51We have a powerful God.
- 30:54>> Amen.
- 30:54>> Jesus was crucified on tree. The tree
- 30:57became the became a place of suffering.
- 31:04>> But through Christ sacrifice, the tree
- 31:07became connected to our redemption.
- 31:10>> Yes. Amen.
- 31:14>> Your peace is in that very tree.
- 31:17>> Yes.
- 31:19that we want to keep crucifying.
- 31:25You are supposed to be rooted.
- 31:28Your roots must go and it must bring the
- 31:31love of Christ. Your roots must go down
- 31:34and it's supposed to bring healing. Your
- 31:36roots must go down and it's supposed to
- 31:39bring power to your family. Your roots
- 31:42must go down SO THAT WHEN YOUR CHILDREN
- 31:44is out there, THEY CAN SPEAK IN
- 31:46AUTHORITY AND TAKE BACK WHAT the enemy
- 31:49has stolen from you.
- 31:51>> Amen.
- 31:54>> We need to know that Jesus saved you.
- 32:00>> But yet we continue destroying
- 32:02relationships.
- 32:04Jesus forgave you, but we refuse to
- 32:07forgive others. Yes,
- 32:10>> it's a hard one.
- 32:12>> Jesus delivers you, but we continue to
- 32:16do things that is out of our control.
- 32:23And look at this photos that they sent
- 32:25me this morning, Pastor Shannon.
- 32:28About
- 32:31>> it was horrible.
- 32:33I looked at it and I deleted it
- 32:35immediately because it was just too much
- 32:37for me to handle. Young people, they
- 32:40shot them, they took them, they threw
- 32:42them in the B and it was just blood
- 32:45and children. Children, it's not even
- 32:48adults, children. Okay.
- 32:54And I thought to myself, Father, what
- 32:56are we producing?
- 32:59>> What are we saying?
- 33:00>> Yes. People
- 33:12had a tendency
- 33:14that there's a place called the White
- 33:16House
- 33:30and said,
- 33:34Sir, I rebuke you in the name of Jesus.
- 33:38>> And right now, sir, I say to you, you
- 33:40will receive Jesus as Lord and Savior.
- 33:44Might not be by me, but one thing I can
- 33:47tell you, he's coming for you. And the
- 33:49day he comes for you, as strongly as you
- 33:52selling this nonsense to the children, I
- 33:54guarantee you, you will
- 33:58serve the Lord in the same way.
- 34:02>> I don't want his destruction.
- 34:06>> I don't want his destruction.
- 34:08>> I want him to serve God as firmly as he
- 34:11serves the devil. I want him to serve
- 34:13God.
- 34:13>> Amen.
- 34:15>> Because
- 34:22So are we destroying the very thing that
- 34:24God
- 34:26has saved us?
- 34:28>> He sent his son, his son to save us.
- 34:31>> Yeah.
- 34:32>> And we're destroying him every time we
- 34:34do all our
- 34:38right. So deep roots remove the power of
- 34:41fear and doubt.
- 34:42>> Yes.
- 34:44>> Fear says you won't make it. Doubt says
- 34:47God has forgotten me.
- 34:49>> But faith says I know who I am.
- 34:52>> Hallelujah.
- 34:54>> I am not forgotten.
- 34:57>> If you can believe those words, if you
- 34:59can root yourself in that to say, I am
- 35:02not forgotten. When you're going through
- 35:04things, even if you don't listen, listen
- 35:07to me. If you don't remember scripture,
- 35:11>> we all remember songs, isn't it?
- 35:13>> Amen.
- 35:19for
- 35:23me. I love it.
- 35:24>> Yes.
- 35:32Know who you are. You are rooted in
- 35:34Christ.
- 35:35>> Yes. Amen.
- 35:392 Timothy 1:7 tells us that God has not
- 35:42given us a spirit of fear, but of power,
- 35:45love, and a sound mind.
- 35:49Our sound mind can only come from if we
- 35:52are rooted so deep enough that whatever
- 35:55comes, whatever wind blows, it's not
- 35:58going to
- 35:59>> blow us away. It's not going to say to
- 36:02us,
- 36:05>> "Yes."
- 36:09>> So being rooted in Christ doesn't mean
- 36:12that we will never experience fear or
- 36:14difficult moments. It means that fear
- 36:17doesn't get to become our foundation.
- 36:20>> Amen.
- 36:21>> Amen.
- 36:22>> Our foundation cannot be moved.
- 36:27So our emotions may shake, our
- 36:30circumstances may shake, but Christ does
- 36:33not shake.
- 36:35>> Amen.
- 36:35>> Amen.
- 36:36>> Then Hebrews 12 verse 28 reminds us that
- 36:41we are receiving a kingdom that cannot
- 36:44be shaken.
- 36:45>> Hallelujah.
- 36:46>> Amen.
- 36:47>> Amen.
- 36:48So the cross number five, the cross,
- 36:54doubt with the old roots.
- 36:58>> Walk away.
- 37:01Walk away. You've been dealt with
- 37:05already when you receive Jesus Christ.
- 37:08>> Why would you want to look back?
- 37:14Why would you want to hold on? Why would
- 37:17you look with regard to what you have
- 37:19been looking at? Stop it.
- 37:25>> Galatians chapter 2 verse 20 says, "I
- 37:28have been crucified with Christ."
- 37:32That's yes, I'm just I'm not giving the
- 37:35full scripture, but yes, you can carry
- 37:37on. And that means the old life doesn't
- 37:42have to remain in control. When we come
- 37:46to Christ, we don't simply receive him.
- 37:48We give our lives over to him.
- 37:51>> Yes.
- 37:53>> Our entire lives must be given back to
- 37:55God.
- 38:02>> 2 Corinthians 5:17. This I got a smile
- 38:06on my face because I'm thinking of last
- 38:07week's service. It says tells us that if
- 38:11anyone is in Christ they a new creation.
- 38:14>> Yes.
- 38:15>> So prophet has this thing of saying she
- 38:18has
- 38:20yo guys I wish we had a video man. We
- 38:22could have done a video for you to see
- 38:24what it looks like. So she has this
- 38:26bride that comes up all dressed up in
- 38:29fur and things like that and she turns
- 38:31her face like
- 38:33no one
- 38:36but but then she comes up.
- 38:38>> Yeah. because she's a new creature in
- 38:41Christ.
- 38:41>> Amen.
- 38:43>> You can face anything, anything because
- 38:47you can turn according to the four
- 38:49creatures. Isn't that you can face on
- 38:52what is happening in your life. If
- 38:54you're an eagle, you need to rise up
- 38:56above your situation. IF YOU ARE LYING,
- 38:58YOU NEED TO ROAR WHEN YOU NEED TO ROAR.
- 39:01>> HELLO.
- 39:01>> AMEN.
- 39:03>> We have to be rooted in the things of
- 39:06God.
- 39:06>> Yes.
- 39:07Stand up for what you believe in.
- 39:13>> We cannot keep going back. We cannot
- 39:15keep looking back at our lives. So
- 39:18number five, the cross is where our
- 39:20roots go deepest.
- 39:24This could be your strongest moment
- 39:27>> or your weakest moment.
- 39:31But I would say to you, remain strong in
- 39:34him because the cross is the root.
- 39:41>> Your roots are not planted in what
- 39:44people say about you.
- 39:51>> I love it.
- 39:53You know, I know people, you know, this
- 39:56that thing it gets to me so badly when
- 39:59somebody says that they so we had a
- 40:02funeral and I went and you know there
- 40:06are so many people you know you meet
- 40:08mainly people at the funeral and they
- 40:10all family members
- 40:13and sometimes you miss people you don't
- 40:15and so I'm so walking so naked and as I
- 40:18turn around I walk into one of my family
- 40:21members
- 40:22So he says,
- 40:28"You know what? I said, "Yeah, must be
- 40:31the Holy Ghost in me that I look so
- 40:33white."
- 40:40No. Come on, people. Why are we still
- 40:42living in that era of saying things like
- 40:44that? What nonsense is that, man? Hey,
- 40:49aren't we equal in in the eyes of God?
- 40:53My brother shall please
- 40:56nonsense
- 41:03>> and this is born again believers.
- 41:09>> So my roots are not planted in my
- 41:12circumstance. My roots are not planted
- 41:14in my feelings.
- 41:16My roots are planted in Christ.
- 41:19>> Yes.
- 41:20>> And Christ proved his love for me at the
- 41:25cross.
- 41:25>> Yes.
- 41:28>> The cross reminds us that Jesus didn't
- 41:31love us only when we were strong. He
- 41:36loved us enough to give himself for us.
- 41:41>> Yes.
- 41:41>> Amen.
- 41:43>> So can you give yourself Especially
- 41:49as it says we are born again believers.
- 41:52>> Are we giving ourselves to the world?
- 41:55>> Are we giving ourselves truly to the
- 41:58world even if they make you angry?
- 42:01>> Yeah.
- 42:02>> Are you really giving yourself to the
- 42:04world? Are you showing the love?
- 42:07>> Yeah.
- 42:10>> Are you giving him love? I'm talking now
- 42:12to the teachers in the room.
- 42:15Okay, let's go further. If that son that
- 42:19runs at home and he steals your last for
- 42:22a loaf of bread, are you showing him the
- 42:24love?
- 42:28That's one, right?
- 42:37So he loved us enough to give us. Okay.
- 42:39So when doubt comes, go back to the
- 42:41cross. When fear comes, go back to the
- 42:43cross. When rejection comes, go back to
- 42:47the cross.
- 42:49>> Pray and pray again. Pray without
- 42:52ceasing. Pray until the situation comes
- 42:55right. Because it's in that moment that
- 42:58God is going to do what it needs to be
- 43:01made.
- 43:01>> Yes.
- 43:02>> Amen.
- 43:04>> Amen.
- 43:04>> Amen.
- 43:05>> You are loved. You are not forgotten.
- 43:08>> Amen.
- 43:10and Christ has already paid the price
- 43:13for you.
- 43:14>> Yes.
- 43:15>> So, I'm going to leave it there at
- 43:17number five because
- 43:30So, I'm going to ask you this question.
- 43:33Don't let your pain become someone
- 43:35else's wound.
- 43:39>> When you're rooted in Christ, be rooted
- 43:41in Christ.
- 43:49>> You have to remember what truly happened
- 43:53when you were born again.
- 43:56>> You were properly rooted in him. I'm
- 43:58giving you now highlights highlights of
- 44:00my
- 44:09>> Don't allow the roots to destroy your
- 44:13house.
- 44:15>> Yes,
- 44:15>> your house is important.
- 44:18>> God has given you rule over that to your
- 44:21dominion,
- 44:23>> to your place.
- 44:25>> Stay in that. stay remain rooted in the
- 44:28things that God has given you.
- 44:32>> And the cross is not just something we
- 44:34admire. It's something we need to live
- 44:37for.
- 44:38>> Yes. Amen.
- 44:40>> The cross should produce a different
- 44:44kind of fruit in us. Remember the cross
- 44:47is also the tree.
- 44:50>> Amen.
- 44:55So today as we stand, can we please
- 44:57stand?
- 44:59>> Amen.
