  1. 0:01what what really shifted us was during
  2. 0:03the pandemic and then George Floyd it it
  3. 0:07became like an exponential shock waves
  4. 0:10yeah during when people were definitely
  5. 0:12unnerved because of the pandemic and you
  6. 0:15know they were shut down they were
  7. 0:17locked up they were their kids were
  8. 0:19couldn't go to school their businesses
  9. 0:21were closed it was a very traumatic I
  10. 0:24don't know if we're going to know for
  11. 0:25decades the exact ramifications to
  12. 0:27society and to individuals and and
  13. 0:29groups and different social strata or
  14. 0:32different economic um levels what
  15. 0:35happened to these people but at the same
  16. 0:37time you had the the shock wave on the
  17. 0:40shock wave of of George Floyd and then
  18. 0:43what happened there and then the
  19. 0:44grifters on top of that movement that um
  20. 0:48really uh saw the opportunity to kind of
  21. 0:52undermine western civilization and
  22. 0:55language and education and they just
  23. 0:57they went for it and there really wasn't
  24. 1:00a check and balance at that time people
  25. 1:02were scared they were vulnerable they
  26. 1:05were cowed they were if you argued
  27. 1:07against any part of it you were
  28. 1:09denounced and demonized and and it
  29. 1:12became a a an era then and hopefully
  30. 1:16it'll end soon where disagreement wasn't
  31. 1:20just I have a different idea and I have
  32. 1:22a different opinion if you had a
  33. 1:24different opinion or a different idea
  34. 1:26you were a bad person that seems like
  35. 1:28the biggest shift that's happened
  36. 1:29happened in this in this new era is like
  37. 1:32the the extent to which it used to be
  38. 1:34just on the outer edges it was like oh
  39. 1:36well you're a Nazi now it's like you're
  40. 1:38a Nazi and that word got stretched
  41. 1:40pretty thin right you're a Nazi you were
  42. 1:42a Nazi if you joined the National
  43. 1:44Socialist uh party you you had mine conf
  44. 1:47on your dining room table and that you
  45. 1:50said H Hitler and you hated Jews Gypsies
  46. 1:53and homosexuals and did things about it
  47. 1:56and actively uh spoke it and and and
  48. 1:59then pursued that and then it went from
  49. 2:00there to like this guy this guy is not
  50. 2:04wearing a mask he's a Nazi I mean that's
  51. 2:06a big leap so I think that I think the
  52. 2:10value of certain words became um
  53. 2:12devalued to say and and the
  54. 2:15weaponization of language I mean like
  55. 2:18it's when you say social justice who
  56. 2:20would who would be against social
  57. 2:21justice and then you know you you
  58. 2:24realize as my good friend Andrew Doyle
  59. 2:26says and James Lindsay and Peter B goian
  60. 2:30uh these are real intellectuals uh they
  61. 2:33say well these are trojan horse
  62. 2:35terms so it sounds good but the idea is
  63. 2:38once you open up the Trojan Horse well
  64. 2:40this is this is communism in here what
  65. 2:42are they talking about this is like this
  66. 2:44is racist this is racism they're talking
  67. 2:47about there's that clip of your good
  68. 2:50friend nor McDonald I don't remember
  69. 2:53where this was even from
  70. 2:55Norm like that sounds like some cby
  71. 2:58gobbley cook it was like some I think he
  72. 3:01was Norm would hate that I'm talking
  73. 3:02about this stuff you absolutely hate it
  74. 3:05that's what anybody wants to smart
  75. 3:07comedian serious comic yeah yeah who
  76. 3:11wants that let's go see that serious
  77. 3:14comedian but I I don't want to be
  78. 3:16relegated as just a comedian I'm a human
  79. 3:18being and at a point you know people
  80. 3:21want to ask my opinion I'm going to give
  81. 3:22it I I I think this wil ideology which
  82. 3:25again borders on a has religious
  83. 3:28architecture to it will collapse because
  84. 3:30and I'm going just tell people cuz what
  85. 3:32do you mean collapsing they said no it's
  86. 3:33going to fall because the uh the
  87. 3:35underpinings behind it um isn't the same
  88. 3:38as um Christianity I mean you see some
  89. 3:42Greek monks in the monastery that's been
  90. 3:43there since the 13th century you know
  91. 3:46900 years and it's an order and they
  92. 3:48have they do this on Mondays and you
  93. 3:51know and then Tuesdays they get up and
  94. 3:53they have this it's one monk does this
  95. 3:54and been doing it for you know almost a
  96. 3:56millennium
  97. 3:58now and they
  98. 4:00and there is a purpose behind that
  99. 4:02whereas in the 1960s you had communes
  100. 4:05you're going like hey would it be a
  101. 4:07great idea if we all live together for a
  102. 4:08little bit you know six months later you
  103. 4:10know wouldn't be a great idea if we
  104. 4:11didn't live all together we didn't live
  105. 4:12together what if I didn't see you ever
  106. 4:13again you know but so in in very much
  107. 4:17the same way the this woke um philosophy
  108. 4:20doesn't have the same underpinnings as
  109. 4:22as Christianity Christianity it's core
  110. 4:25is love uh love your enemy uh love
  111. 4:28others as thyself self um
  112. 4:32forgiveness
  113. 4:34sacrifice these
  114. 4:37are something you can build uh hope you
  115. 4:42you can build your life around um this
  116. 4:45is something that uh is beneficial to
  117. 4:48everyone whereas this woke philosophy is
  118. 4:51is seems to be based on um creating
  119. 4:55division um separating yourself from
  120. 4:58everyone else yeah um
  121. 5:01dividing and conquering and at its
  122. 5:03Essence it seems to be vengeful or
  123. 5:05revenge for people who didn't uh ever
  124. 5:08feel like they fit in and now they have
  125. 5:10the upper hand or trying to now that's
  126. 5:12nothing to build a movement on that
  127. 5:14seems like it'll last like a a 900 year
  128. 5:17old Greek monastery one thing that is
  129. 5:19interesting to me is that it does seem
  130. 5:22like you are part of a commun a a comic
  131. 5:25community that I wonder if this is a
  132. 5:28generational thing you know like the you
  133. 5:32know the you know Seinfeld
  134. 5:36Sandler you know Norm the old SNL like
  135. 5:39the the Heyday of grizzled veterans well
  136. 5:42like when you know when SNL was really
  137. 5:44like consistently funny and we all
  138. 5:46watched it but thank you but at the same
  139. 5:48time I remember all I remember is people
  140. 5:50telling us how much we sucked like
  141. 5:51Saturday night lives dead and all that
  142. 5:53every generation yeah every generation I
  143. 5:56mean thank you but I think they got a
  144. 5:58good a good crew now and I thought that
  145. 6:00Kate McKinny crew I thought like he had
  146. 6:01will farell I mean it's so I I think
  147. 6:04it's if that was where you grew up that
  148. 6:07or that was your formative years that's
  149. 6:08yours you know and I I it was a great
  150. 6:11place to start I will say that and it's
  151. 6:13it's a great place that that when
  152. 6:16something's happening in America like an
  153. 6:18election or something there's no better
  154. 6:19place to go to to kind of get a gauge on
  155. 6:21the and a lot of that's responsible to
  156. 6:24this one guy named Jim Downey who did
  157. 6:25most of the uh political uh comment on
  158. 6:29that show for years it does seem like in
  159. 6:32a world where you know the entertainment
  160. 6:34industry has always been broadly
  161. 6:36Democrat Le of and it should be I mean
  162. 6:38it should be because it's young people
  163. 6:39doing it right and it's like you know um
  164. 6:42traditional liberalism is pretty good
  165. 6:45you know traditional liberalism not how
  166. 6:46it's been misused how we went from
  167. 6:48women's rights to men you know
  168. 6:52playing playing basketball against women
  169. 6:55you know um I don't know how that that
  170. 6:57seems we're getting into fights with
  171. 6:58women which is my particular favorite
  172. 6:59how how that's defensible by I know and
  173. 7:01it's like and I feel sorry you know I
  174. 7:02feel sorry for more than the woman in
  175. 7:04the Rings the announcers is pretending
  176. 7:05this is okay hey well what a what a you
  177. 7:08know a tremendous uh you know breaking
  178. 7:11barriers there and he broke her jaw I
  179. 7:13mean she broke her jaw so it's it's it's
  180. 7:16be you have to ridicule it at this point
  181. 7:18it have you have to laugh at it it's the
  182. 7:19only chance for it to collapse and I do
  183. 7:21think it will collapse but I think going
  184. 7:23back to what you're saying about um you
  185. 7:25know I think young people traditional
  186. 7:27liberalism gay rights I mean women
  187. 7:29women's rights EXT you know um expanding
  188. 7:33Freedom free speech I mean these These
  189. 7:35are you know traditional you know as
  190. 7:37much equality as you can get this sounds
  191. 7:39like good stuff don't judge people by
  192. 7:41the color of their skin that's that's a
  193. 7:43good Bedrock to Foundation to build your
  194. 7:46Society on and and we had it and then
  195. 7:48someone suddenly said we didn't have it
  196. 7:49like we didn't have it and it was under
  197. 7:51the Obama Administration where started
  198. 7:53to become um where I think it was kind
  199. 7:56of proof that we' moved in the right
  200. 7:57direction here's the elect uh you know
  201. 8:00voting for and two times and all of a
  202. 8:04sudden um we were more racist now than
  203. 8:07we were so I I think again it was people
  204. 8:10were abusing um the system that uh gave
  205. 8:15rise to an incredible amount of of
  206. 8:17freedom in the greatest experiment of
  207. 8:19freedom in the history of the world but
  208. 8:21it does make it vulnerable to attack and
  209. 8:23that's where you're seeing a an attack
  210. 8:26on the Western Civilization now A friend
  211. 8:27of mine made a document a bunch of years
  212. 8:30ago called can we take a joke and he's a
  213. 8:32big Lenny Bruce fan okay I think you
  214. 8:34might have even been in this movie it's
  215. 8:35been a while since I've seen it but you
  216. 8:39know Seinfeld's been out saying like
  217. 8:41comedy's dead there's no comedy anymore
  218. 8:43I don't agree with that yeah I was
  219. 8:44curious what you think about that CU I
  220. 8:45think it's just you have to be more
  221. 8:46clever about it I mean like I you
  222. 8:49there's a really great comedian I don't
  223. 8:51know if a comedian
  224. 8:53ever you know funnier or more outrageous
  225. 8:56than Sarah Silverman she's the complete
  226. 8:58opposite politically how I stand now and
  227. 9:01but the way that she communicates ideas
  228. 9:03is absolutely brilliant and she gets the
  229. 9:05ideas by getting the audience to gree to
  230. 9:08these horrible places and uh you would
  231. 9:10watch her go I would never tell a joke
  232. 9:12about race and this way and then she
  233. 9:14just gets them to go okay and then she
  234. 9:16does it so it really is in your
  235. 9:18application and and your execution I
  236. 9:20should say uh and like you know I was
  237. 9:24trying to figure out you know one of the
  238. 9:26great comics of of all time and one of
  239. 9:27our certainly for our generation is c k
  240. 9:30oh yeah and you I just like oh how does
  241. 9:34he get away with and and I had to you
  242. 9:36had to look at it you know
  243. 9:39structurally and I was going like huh
  244. 9:43okay he gets the audience to be okay
  245. 9:47with questioning their own lack of
  246. 9:49morality through his lack of morality
  247. 9:52and so it's just it's a clever way to
  248. 9:55get to talk about interesting stuff in
  249. 9:57in the societal taboos which Lenny Bruce
  250. 9:59talked about a comedian from the 1960s
  251. 10:02really um which which opened up the
  252. 10:05floodgates to a different um well to
  253. 10:08questioning things um that we should
  254. 10:12question all of it and I remember you
  255. 10:13know my good friend John C from Mony
  256. 10:15python talking about and him and Eric
  257. 10:18Idol uh telling me about um Peter Cook
  258. 10:23and the foot lights at I think it was at
  259. 10:26Cambridge um Cambridge or Oxford I think
  260. 10:29it was K the foot lights at at Oxford at
  261. 10:32Cambridge and uh they'd never seen
  262. 10:35anybody make fun of the Prime Minister
  263. 10:37or the royal family and it's you it
  264. 10:39wasn't even in their thinking that this
  265. 10:41was a possibility so in all deference
  266. 10:43and respect for Jerry Seinfeld is one of
  267. 10:45the great masters of standup comedy of
  268. 10:47the 20th century um by far I mean it's
  269. 10:51it's anybody who disagrees with that is
  270. 10:53is not you know to be taken seriously in
  271. 10:56comedy but in all deference to him I
  272. 10:58would say we just have to work harder I
  273. 11:00mean I'm out there more because I have
  274. 11:03to be but I'm out there more doing more
  275. 11:05shows so I have to get things done um
  276. 11:08and bring the audience along in in a way
  277. 11:11that is acceptable to them and I totally
  278. 11:14stole this idea from from the the
  279. 11:17structural um the structure of Louis CK
  280. 11:20which is if I make myself the butt of it
  281. 11:22then I can get them to question this
  282. 11:24this uh this morality whether no matter
  283. 11:28what their political leaning
  284. 11:29if I can talk about like how I want my
  285. 11:32son to win at Athletics um in high
  286. 11:36school and he's clearly not talented but
  287. 11:38I want him to hold a trophy and I and
  288. 11:40there's a conversation that I give to do
  289. 11:41with my you know on stage where I talk
  290. 11:43about talking to my son about joining
  291. 11:45the women's team and it just nobody you
  292. 11:48know yeah and the audience is really
  293. 11:51uncomfortable but they they find
  294. 11:54themselves laughing because of the you
  295. 11:56know because I make myself in it because
  296. 11:58I'm not talking talking about them doing
  297. 12:00it I'm not talking about a specific
  298. 12:02person this is all
  299. 12:04just you know this is imaginary but if
  300. 12:07you set up the scenario in a way that is
  301. 12:10purely comic and and and keep them off
  302. 12:14guard and make yourself like the bad
  303. 12:16person in this and then I think you can
  304. 12:18get to ideas so I would say in all
  305. 12:21respect to Jerry Seinfeld no you can I
  306. 12:24mean I will say there's certain places I
  307. 12:26wouldn't do it I mean I've had people
  308. 12:28extremely up
  309. 12:30set it's been in the news that's how you
  310. 12:32know it is a problem but I I refuse to
  311. 12:35give into it but I've been on the news
  312. 12:36for telling jokes I mean how do you get
  313. 12:38on the news for a joke right but that's
  314. 12:41that's that's that's that's how the news
  315. 12:43is and that's how the place we're at um
  316. 12:46and I was in Canada recently where it
  317. 12:48happened I take that as a badge of honor
  318. 12:51because I think you have to keep kicking
  319. 12:53doors down and you know even when they
  320. 12:57you know were complaining about it they
  321. 12:58were also complained that people were
  322. 13:00laughing loudly right well because it's
  323. 13:02a reflection on how how horrible we all
  324. 13:04are but well it's yes it is like these
  325. 13:07people are laughing at this he's
  326. 13:08encouraging their hate you know and I go
  327. 13:12no I don't think so I think you know
  328. 13:14we're adults in a room uh talking about
  329. 13:18something that that I think they're
  330. 13:19finding some relation to and the idea is
  331. 13:23to um it's it's not to attack specific
  332. 13:26things but to attack some sort of uh
  333. 13:29something that is deserving of ridicule
  334. 13:31I I've always I've tended to think that
  335. 13:33there's sort of
  336. 13:34two paths that most comedy tries to take
  337. 13:39there's more than that but hear me out
  338. 13:41you're the I want because you're the
  339. 13:43feel like I'm talking to so you know the
  340. 13:46ayatolla there's cool yes there
  341. 13:49is well one is to to sort of Revel in
  342. 13:53like what is super super familiar like I
  343. 13:55watched your your woke up in America
  344. 13:57special so much it is
  345. 14:00about like being married and being asked
  346. 14:04to go kill a spider like that literally
  347. 14:06happened like the the we me and Lisa
  348. 14:08shut off the TV she goes into the
  349. 14:10bathroom screams and says there's a
  350. 14:12spider that's the it's the biggest
  351. 14:14consistently the biggest laugh in my
  352. 14:16show which has nothing to do with
  353. 14:18politics but it has to do with sexual
  354. 14:20politics and power and the fact that a
  355. 14:22guy can be um just as um scared of a
  356. 14:27spider as or more so than a woman and I
  357. 14:30think there's some people can relate to
  358. 14:31that all of them everyone can relate to
  359. 14:33that and it's a scream of a laugh which
  360. 14:35is fantastic I wish I had more of those
  361. 14:38kind of jokes but you know what's
  362. 14:39interesting is that there seems to be
  363. 14:41a uh a deliberate emasculation happening
  364. 14:45in society and in Show Business I just
  365. 14:47saw this movie by by John krinski that
  366. 14:50that which is brilliant those movies
  367. 14:52that a quiet place are absolutely
  368. 14:54brilliant and like he is a guy who is a
  369. 14:56a hero for actors saying don't just be
  370. 14:59an actor be a producer be a writer be a
  371. 15:01director do all these things and make
  372. 15:02make something you make a hit and and
  373. 15:04God bless him and Mary is Mary the most
  374. 15:06beautiful woman in acting you know a
  375. 15:08real hero for all of us actors but then
  376. 15:10he made this new one and if I may you
  377. 15:13know respectfully be disrespected now he
  378. 15:17made the guy scared and like frightened
  379. 15:20and screaming and the woman covering his
  380. 15:22mouth and
  381. 15:24like and just totally mulated this guy
  382. 15:27you know and like the woman takes off a
  383. 15:29sweater and gives it to the guy and it's
  384. 15:31a total
  385. 15:34demasculate this a man as as
  386. 15:38entertainment you know and uh I found
  387. 15:41that to be like come
  388. 15:43on why am I you know and I and I don't I
  389. 15:46don't think that that's a a singular um
  390. 15:50exception in Show Business now and as
  391. 15:53the Arbiter of societal trending I think
  392. 15:57they are making a choice here that men
  393. 15:59can be just as weak and useless and
  394. 16:03which feeds back into the thing which is
  395. 16:04my trigger which is this idea of toxic
  396. 16:07masculinity do you like the way the air
  397. 16:09conditioning works in this place or the
  398. 16:11fact that the building isn't collapsing
  399. 16:13well that's toxic masculinity that's
  400. 16:15guys who probably didn't uh the guys who
  401. 16:18did the work probably wanted to not go
  402. 16:20to college whatever they wanted to work
  403. 16:22with their hands or they didn't want to
  404. 16:23was like I didn't I didn't want to
  405. 16:25finish college I wanted to be a comedian
  406. 16:26I want to get out of there and like but
  407. 16:28what run Society Plumbing welding it's
  408. 16:32not toxic masculinity it's men
  409. 16:35accomplishing that needs to get done and
  410. 16:37if it doesn't get done everything falls
  411. 16:39apart and so to attack that as if
  412. 16:41there's something wrong with that is to
  413. 16:45me that is objectionable that to me is
  414. 16:47um deserving of ridicule it does feel
  415. 16:50like there's this sort of thing that's
  416. 16:51baked into like what progressivism wants
  417. 16:54to do which is to say I it's not good
  418. 16:58enough to toate the people on the edges
  419. 17:00we have to flatten the flatten the curve
  420. 17:03so to speak the bell curve the bell
  421. 17:05curve of reality which is actually like
  422. 17:07most people are going to be comfortable
  423. 17:09in this thing that looks pretty much
  424. 17:11like normal life men and women
  425. 17:14relationships
  426. 17:16concerns and we should want to tolerate
  427. 17:19the people who don't want that but
  428. 17:21instead it's got to be like no no no no
  429. 17:23we have to destroy that there has to be
  430. 17:25Norms exactly well Thomas Soul talks
  431. 17:27about much than I do in his book um uh
  432. 17:31the fallacy of U social justice is the
  433. 17:34idea of of um of flattening out some
  434. 17:37people so other people can benefit from
  435. 17:39it there's the the idea that there can
  436. 17:42be equality of outcome is uh is lucer
  437. 17:45because there's certain people that are
  438. 17:46going to be better making beer you know
  439. 17:49the Germans have been doing it for a
  440. 17:50thousand years they're going to make it
  441. 17:51better the opportunity the the idea that
  442. 17:53the Filipinos are going to just jump in
  443. 17:55and take over the beer business it's a
  444. 17:57thousand years we' making Bill know they
  445. 18:00know what they're doing you know and
  446. 18:02there's I wouldn't write off the Koreans
  447. 18:03they're pretty good at catching up yeah
  448. 18:05but but they they learned from the
  449. 18:07German they the the what was built by
  450. 18:09the Germans so there's just the idea you
  451. 18:11don't have same outcomes in the same
  452. 18:13family so there the there's there's this
  453. 18:16this myth this mythology and this the
  454. 18:18idea of of doing something good and it's
  455. 18:21like just reminds me of like nature you
  456. 18:22know we need to get rid of these
  457. 18:23squirrels we got to bring in from um
  458. 18:26that little island those other these
  459. 18:28those little Badgers and kill the
  460. 18:29squirrels we bring him and then they
  461. 18:31come in and they don't kill the
  462. 18:32squirrels they kill all the Sheep you
  463. 18:34know or whatever they just it up every
  464. 18:36every chance they get so I guess it's
  465. 18:40it's it has to be functional it has to
  466. 18:42be tried you have to look at this
  467. 18:44instead of these big sweeping measures
  468. 18:46that's um uh you know like the diversity
  469. 18:49equity and inclusion it's um it doesn't
  470. 18:53work I mean the the idea of they want
  471. 18:56diversity of skin color but not
  472. 18:59idea they don't want the diversity of
  473. 19:02ideas or ideology or anything they just
  474. 19:04want to to look different but they don't
  475. 19:07God forbid if you're a different color
  476. 19:10but you're thinking differently then
  477. 19:11you're out then you're a you know then
  478. 19:14they have other derogatory terms for you
  479. 19:17so I don't know my mom was Filipino my
  480. 19:19dad was Jewish so I never felt included
  481. 19:21anywhere with anything it's kind of
  482. 19:23always felt like an outsider and I
  483. 19:24always question things and I never
  484. 19:26included in any group and I felt like an
  485. 19:28outsider and I felt like as a standup
  486. 19:29I'm an outsider I felt as my standup
  487. 19:31career as an outlier I I'm out I'm
  488. 19:34outside of it and I don't feel uh
  489. 19:36beholden to any of it and I think that's
  490. 19:38a it's the proper place to be I do think
  491. 19:40I'm pigeon hold now as you know in this
  492. 19:43because particularly I I feel I've never
  493. 19:47felt um the underpinnings of what made
  494. 19:50this country so great um like as
  495. 19:53Washington would say that there's a
  496. 19:55reason why freedom of speech is the
  497. 19:57first Amendment
  498. 19:59because all the other ones are relying
  499. 20:02on it and that was even before guns I
  500. 20:05mean I a lot of you know guns first what
  501. 20:07are you talking about freedom of speech
  502. 20:08Let's do the guns we needed the guns to
  503. 20:10defeat the British but but he said that
  504. 20:13freedom of speech that that was first I
  505. 20:15mean that there's some I mean these that
  506. 20:16wasn't taken lightly so the real arm the
  507. 20:20arms that we have the real Armament that
  508. 20:23is society is has been
  509. 20:27gifted by the an incredible uh document
  510. 20:31was freedom of speech so that's the
  511. 20:34arming of the
  512. 20:36citizenry if you like this clip you
