  2. 0:07case 020 436 case of
  3. 0:121975 it was in front of Judge George
  4. 0:15mcmonagle and uh there was a finding of
  5. 0:18guilty at that point and uh Mr Jackson
  6. 0:21actually was sentenced to death in a
  7. 0:25uh Penitentiary and um the appeals least
  8. 0:30the took that away from the state but
  9. 0:33since then there's been a motion for a
  10. 0:34new trial we had a hearing a few days
  11. 0:37ago and motion for a new trial was
  12. 0:40granted and uh Mr
  13. 0:43aala Mr you have to say anything thank
  14. 0:46you h on beh of the state of Ohio
  15. 0:48through re what Mr McGinty uh said the
  16. 0:51other day at state of Ohio at this time
  17. 0:53I Mak a motion to uh dismiss the case
  18. 0:56all right this case will be dismissed uh
  19. 0:58Mr Jackson you going to be free to go uh
  20. 1:01me suggest to you that uh life is filled
  21. 1:05with uh small victories and this is a
  22. 1:06big
  23. 1:07one uh know who your friends are because
  24. 1:10you're going to who's going to want a
  25. 1:11piece of you and you better trust the
  26. 1:12people who you know you can trust so uh
  27. 1:16I wish you good luck thank you thank you
  28. 1:17your H all

  33. 1:52happy needless to say you know words
  34. 1:56can't express how I feel right now I'm
  35. 1:57just glad to be out glad to be a free
  36. 1:59man what are you going to do where are
  37. 2:00you going to go wow I mean you know you
  38. 2:03sit in prison for so long you think
  39. 2:05about this day but when it actually
  40. 2:07comes you don't know what you you just
  41. 2:08want to do something you know besides
  42. 2:10what you've been doing for 39 years okay
  43. 2:13how excited are you to see Ronnie and Wy
  44. 2:16well I really haven't got a chance to
  45. 2:17meet him yet see him yet I saw him
  46. 2:19briefly in the courtroom but I'm dying
  47. 2:21to meet him I want to embrace him and
  48. 2:23hug
  49. 2:24him excuse me cuz we've been through a
  50. 2:27lot together and we made it you know
  51. 2:30here we made it just because you're in
  52. 2:32prison you don't have to be a prisoner
  53. 2:34you got to be a man you know and you got
  54. 2:37to get yourself together regardless of
  55. 2:38what the circumstances are and you got
  56. 2:40to press forward you know you know
  57. 2:42you're innocent you got to keep fighting
  58. 2:44you
  59. 2:45know what's your first meal you're going
  60. 2:47to have what have you been thinking W
  61. 2:48everybody ask that I mean I don't really
  62. 2:50long as it's not prison
  63. 2:52food you walked the courtroom today you
  64. 2:55smiled at some people you waved at them
  65. 2:56who were they uh family friends and I
  66. 2:59mean just people I didn't really know
  67. 3:00I'm just glad to see
  68. 3:02people you know I'm just happy to see
  69. 3:06people you know for real what are your
  70. 3:08thoughts about the people who got you
  71. 3:10here in the first place 39 years ago the
  72. 3:13people who said you did it when you
  73. 3:15didn't well um I guess a lot of people
  74. 3:18would want me to hate that person and
  75. 3:21feel carry animosity towards him but I
  76. 3:24don't you know people have to remember
  77. 3:26that they see him as a grown man today
  78. 3:28but 7 75 he was a 12y old kid and he was
  79. 3:32manipulated and coarsed by the police
  80. 3:35you know and they they used him they
  81. 3:38used him to get us in prison so as far
  82. 3:41as uh that young man is concerned I wish
  83. 3:43him the best I don't hate him I don't I
  84. 3:46just wish he has a good life it took a
  85. 3:49lot of courage to do what he did in that
  86. 3:51courtroom you guys didn't see his
  87. 3:52testimony he didn't hear his testimony
  88. 3:54but it took a lot of courage to do what
  89. 3:57he did they tried to break him they
  90. 3:59tried to screw him up but at the end he
  91. 4:02always said the same basic thing they
  92. 4:04didn't do it I lied and that took a lot
  93. 4:06of Courage for him he been carrying a
  94. 4:08burden around for 39 years like we have
  95. 4:11but in the end he came through and I'm
  96. 4:13grateful for
  97. 4:25that yes it
  98. 4:27does yes it do yeah they don't f it
  99. 4:34I thank
