- 0:00good evening my fellow Americans 10 days
- 0:03ago in my report to the nation on
- 0:06Vietnam I announced the decision to
- 0:08withdraw an additional 150,000 Americans
- 0:11from Vietnam over the next year I said
- 0:15then that I was making that decision
- 0:18despite Our concern over increased enemy
- 0:22activity in LA in Cambodia and in South
- 0:26Vietnam and at that time I warned that
- 0:29if I could included that increased enemy
- 0:31activity in any of these areas
- 0:34endangered the lives of Americans
- 0:36remaining in Vietnam I would not
- 0:39hesitate to take strong and effective
- 0:41measures to deal with that
- 0:44situation despite that warning North
- 0:47Vietnam has increased its military
- 0:50aggression in all these areas and
- 0:52particularly in
- 0:55Cambodia after full consultation with
- 0:58the National Security Council and
- 0:59Ambassador bunker General Abrams and my
- 1:02other advisers I have concluded that the
- 1:05actions of the enemy in the last 10 days
- 1:07clearly endanger the lives of Americans
- 1:09who are in Vietnam
- 1:11now and would constitute an unacceptable
- 1:15risk to those who will be there after
- 1:18withdrawal
