- 0:14the riboswitch is a part of an mrna
- 0:17molecule that can bind
- 0:19and target small target molecules
- 0:23the riboswitch displays the ability to
- 0:25regulate rna by responding to
- 0:28concentrations of its target molecule
- 0:32in other words
- 0:34riboswitches are rna elements within an
- 0:37rna transcript
- 0:39that modulate
- 0:40the expression of the coding sequences
- 0:42in that transcript
- 0:44by direct measurement of a regulatory
- 0:46signal
- 0:48regulation mechanisms of rivals which is
- 0:51controlling at the levels of translation
- 0:53initiation
- 0:55in the absence of ligand the ribose
- 0:58which adopts the own state
- 1:01in which
- 1:02translation initiation is allowed
- 1:05and gene expression ensures
- 1:09however
- 1:10ligand binding to the ribose which
- 1:13leads to the adoption of the oauth state
- 1:16in which the rbs is squashed
- 1:20resulting in the inhibition of
- 1:22translation initiation
- 1:25ultimately to mrna degradation
