0:37and I told you man it's just
0:39when we start doing this stupid podcast
0:41I was like why the hell are we doing a
0:43podcast
0:45and it turned into one of the most fun
0:46things I do yeah I do I know and uh it's
0:49so awesome
0:51I mean and this is really bittersweet
0:54because
0:55you know we we I hate saying this
0:58because it just basically
1:01this is last podcast with the legend
1:04Timothy Kylie yeah I mean his segment

1:09Bittersweet so because he's retiring yep

1:17I hate calling my Legends
1:19uh but he's a living legend
1:21and go Miss TK and so I got my I'm
1:25almost I'm almost too sad to continue

1:30the podcast is supposed to be fun but
1:32I'm gonna start on a couple serious
1:33notes

1:52I just don't know what to say
1:54and let me tell you something
1:56I don't I I don't say that often man Jah
2:02man you gotta grow up

2:06I think Kenny said something we're
2:08talking about on the show like yo man at
2:11some point it's not your friends
2:13is you
2:16and
2:18I don't want to dwell on it man you just
2:20gotta grow up I don't know what the
2:22suspension is gonna be what do you think
2:24it should be
2:25I think it's going to be at least 20 to
2:2725 games
2:29uh I don't have any inside information
2:32because the eight games didn't do it you
2:34don't you don't need to have any
2:36information on it what if you were the
2:38commissioner
2:4025 games
2:4220 to 25 games
2:45you got to send them a serious message
2:49and you got to get him in some serious
2:50counseling
2:52because
2:53he only went to rehab or counseling for
2:57two or three days if that because they
3:00say he went to rehab or counseling and
3:03then three days later he was in New York
3:04meeting with Adam
3:06so he didn't go to he didn't get
3:08anything out of quite counseling or
3:10whatever he did
3:12I would get him a serious personal life
3:14coach
3:16somebody the NBA
3:18or the Grizzlies hired not him and his
3:20family somebody who's a professional
3:23saying what what's really going on here
3:25because clearly there's something going
3:27on uh so I wanted to address that
3:31and I want to address the second thing
3:33is John Williamson
3:37yo man I don't know you we've never met
3:40you got to get somebody in your ear
3:44I don't think the coach has enough power
3:46to tell you what to do
3:48I don't think David Griffin who's A
3:50friend of mine has enough power to tell
3:51you what to do
3:53but somebody got to tell you like yo man
3:55you got to get in shape
3:57because you're gonna keep getting hurt
3:58if you're out of shape
4:00I've told this story a million times I'm
4:02so blessed for Moses Malone
4:05told me to get my fat ass in shape and
4:07made me lose 50 pounds
4:09to change the whole dynamic of my life
4:13and somebody's got to get in your ear
4:16and say yo man you got to get in shape
4:18you're never going to be healthy out of
4:20shape you're too big to play basketball
4:24I hope you don't take this the wrong way
4:26it's positive criticism critiquing I
4:30want you to be a great basketball player
4:32I've been in your shoes being very
4:35talented being overweight
4:38and
4:39and like I say I thank God every day for
4:41Moses rest in peace because if he hadn't
4:44took me under his wing
4:46and let me tell you something you're
4:47playing the Moses role for Zion I would
4:50love to that's what you're doing right
4:51now and let me tell you something
4:54I've seen
4:56dozens guys eat their way out of the NBA
4:59and it can happen quickly
5:02because once you start getting hurt
5:04you're gonna keep getting hurt and
5:06you're gonna lose your talent
5:08so that's the first two serious notes
5:11I want to say to those young kids on our
5:14last podcast that's the most important
5:17Summers of both of y'all lives
5:20the next four months when you're on
5:22vacation gonna dictate the rest of your
5:25careers
5:26and let me tell you something guys
5:30my first contract was four years two
5:33million dollars
5:35I got in shape for two million dollars
5:37and then you're gonna make another
5:41500 million dollars all you gotta do is
5:43get in shape jaw you're gonna make
5:46another five y'all guys gonna make close
5:48to a billion dollars
5:50all y'all got to do is do the right
5:52thing
5:53so guys I hope you guys have a great
5:55summer and get your crap together
5:57Michael block
5:59man I want to thank you for making the
6:02weekend so much fun Michael block is the
6:05the PGA professional
6:08who you know if you know those guys they
6:11don't play a lot of golf they teach a
6:13lot of people they teach a lot of golf
6:14but they don't play a lot and they get
6:16to shine once a year at the PGA
6:19Championship
6:20and I just want to if the first time I
6:22think since 1985
6:25that a tour pro
6:27made the weekend
6:29they're the teaching pro the teaching
6:31pro
6:32and I just love the way he embraced it
6:35the video when he found out he was going
6:37to be playing with Rory McIlroy it's
6:40priceless
6:42the hole in one reaction is priceless
6:46and him getting up and down on 18 to
6:49make sure he gets to play in the PGA
6:50next year
6:52man and I want to thank the fans for
6:54just cheering that guy on because
6:56man being a teacher professional is a
6:59thankless job
7:01you're kissing ass with all the members
7:03and a lot of the members are ungrateful
7:06but I just want to thank you for making
7:08the weekend and also Bruce koepka
7:11man I'm so proud of you to come back
7:14after what happened at the Masters
7:17uh you were just awesome you know what
7:20uh chuckster the uh in all those years
7:22that we got to do the PGA Championship
7:24on TNT
7:27um
7:27one of the one of the cool Parts about
7:31that
7:32number one when you get to town and
7:35you're like Monday through Wednesday
7:36you're just kind of walking the course
7:38and you're inside the ropes and you're
7:40walking with some of these groups
7:41watching them practice you know which is
7:43always fun
7:44but part of the what made makes the PGA
7:47Championship cool is the addition of
7:50these 25 Club Pros yeah and you would
7:53have a chance to meet them while
7:55galleries are all over yeah the big
7:58names during these practice rounds then
8:00all of a sudden you see over here you'd
8:03see maybe a couple of pros and they
8:04would have one of these one of these PGA
8:06professionals with them you know who
8:08sometimes it was their first time ever
8:10in an event like this but to get to meet
8:13them and talk to them as they're walking
8:15and playing about what their daily life
8:17is like and what it's like to just you
8:21know they're in the spotlight here but
8:23you're not there when they're showing up
8:24at 6 30 in the morning at their club and
8:27then getting ready for a day full of
8:28lessons and that kind of thing and it's
8:30such a reward for them to play in in an
8:33event like the PGA Championship
8:35and having that knowledge of of their
8:38existence then when I watch Michael
8:40block yeah it's like how does it you
8:42know how did Michael block even draw the
8:45club back on the First Tee on number on
8:48on Sunday playing with playing with Rory
8:51as these people are going wild it was
8:53that was so far out of yes his normal
8:57existence
8:59per Joy
9:01when a guy says You're Gonna Play with
9:03Rory he's like are you serious right now
9:06shaking his head and walking you still
9:08couldn't believe it he said like wow let
9:10me take that in for a second he says are
9:12you being serious right now
9:14in that pure joy is what I love about
9:17sports and then to have on that on that
9:19final Sunday
9:20to have Rory McIlroy giving you a hug
9:23because you Jarred one no if you send
9:26that back to rewrite say that's that's
9:28too corny that's that can't happen but
9:31it did it was so cool to watch so shout
9:34out to him and Brooks kepka
9:35congratulations Brooks anything else on
9:38that sheet yes I got a cup two more
9:39things three more things I just say I
9:42want to thank TNT
9:44for getting hockey
9:46man the hockey playoffs have been
9:49amazing
9:51this is I don't even know the stats but
9:53it's got to be the most overtimes ever
9:56that's in the conversation
9:59I stayed up and watched the four
10:01overtime game the other night
10:04and it was incredible then yesterday you
10:06had the Vegas Knights scoring with two
10:09minutes to go and winning in overtime
10:12and I'm so proud of TNT for getting
10:14hockey and the guys do an amazing job
10:18and I can't wait to watch it's gonna be
10:21cool for TNT
10:23I mean we're gonna have the Stanley Cup
10:25finals
10:27incredible Stanley Cup will be awarded
10:29on TNT I mean to have the Stanley Cup
10:32finals on our Network man it's gonna be
10:35incredible
10:36and I just want to say I'm so glad we
10:39got hockey and the last two things I
10:42just want to say Jeremy
10:44we gave Jeremy a shout out last night
10:46Jeremy Levin yep
10:48I just want to thank him for all his
10:51hard work the last 10 years I know he's
10:53been with Turner for 23 years
10:55you know the people behind the scenes
10:59you know obviously I'm close with Alex
11:01and Underdog and but the people behind
11:03the scenes behind the cameras they work
11:05so hard
11:06you know we go on TV at seven o'clock at
11:09night
11:11and they're there at one o'clock
11:14first of all I have no idea what the
11:15hell they doing for those six hours
11:16can't be that damn hard
11:18but it's a lot of preparation yeah okay
11:20whatever
11:21um no I just no it doesn't do itself
11:23yeah take it but I want to thank all the
11:25people behind the scenes and I just want
11:27to give a special shout out to Jeremy
11:28and thank him for some amazing years
11:31it's been an honor and a privilege
11:34and last and definitely least

12:10we've had a lot of fun we've had a lot
12:13of vodka as he says I said

12:20been a great sounding board
12:22I've been calling the principal office a
12:24few times over the years about things I
12:27said
12:28but he always
12:30you know how when somebody kicks your
12:32ass as a parent and then they put the
12:34arm around you
12:36him and David Stern were probably the
12:38two best at kicking my ass and then
12:42putting their arm around me right after
12:44said that's it so I just want to thank
12:46TK for a man he is a legend
12:50it's so funny when I'm around
12:52guys from ESPN they're like man you guys
12:56are so lucky to have TK
12:58and I said yes we are so I just want to
13:01thank Jeremy antique especially TK for
13:04being amazing sounding board for all
13:07these years so to those two guys thank
13:10you thank you thank you and you'll have
13:12a an opportunity and I will also to
13:15speak directly to TK before uh before

13:38we've ever oh yeah I think we did it in
13:40Chicago one time
13:42in this remember like oh yeah yeah we
13:44did for all-star weekend as a matter so
13:46we got a very very special guest should
13:49we go
13:50two-time Super Bowl champion
13:54All-Pro tight end
13:57Saturday Night Live host what would be
14:00the best way to bring on our next guest
14:02I think you've uh you've covered it all
14:04right brother of Jason Kelsey I mean
14:08that's that's quite the introduction and
14:10uh and so we we welcome Travis Kelsey to
14:14the steam room and and we only have one
14:16rule Travis and that uh is when you're
14:18in the steam room please keep your towel
14:20on Talon that's how long man you never
14:23know who's uh who's got their draws on
14:25or not man
14:27hey Trav I want a number one thank you
14:29for being on so you're saying this is
14:32your first day back to practice going
14:35against the fences today yeah no we're
14:37uh we're entering uh what would be phase
14:39three of uh OTAs was the off-season
14:41workouts
14:43um it says it's all voluntary but you
14:45already know we're trying to go and get
14:47another ring man everybody's pretty much
14:49in the building uh Pat bones is out
14:51there leading us in our practices and um
14:54yeah this will be the first day that we
14:55actually get to go up against the
14:56defense and and get some competition
14:59going everything from uh from when we
15:01started until now has just been kind of
15:02like individual drills and stuff like
15:04that just to get the body back in the
15:06into playing shape and stuff like that
15:07so
15:08um yeah excited to take that next step
15:10and get even closer to the season you
15:12know this is a very uh unique
15:14opportunity we have today because
15:17um
15:18Chuck when when you were growing up and
15:22Travis I don't know if you know this uh
15:24Chuck wanted to be known as Travis
15:28and did you know Charles that when
15:30Travis was growing up he wanted to be
15:32known as Charles fill us in on you on
15:34your end of the story so I
15:37um when I was five years old this is
15:39probably
15:4093
15:411993 94. I uh I moved from kind of I
15:46moved closer to the city so when we
15:48moved I um I thought it was the perfect
15:50time to tell the the neighborhood or the
15:52kids that I was meeting that you know
15:53I'm officially changing my name so I
15:56didn't I didn't love Travis I learned to
15:59grow into it I guess but um yeah Chuck
16:01was my favorite basketball player
16:03um there were a few other Charlie's that
16:05were that were they were on the movie
16:07screen that I that I loved too but I
16:09mean uh Chuck was by far my favorite
16:10basketball player and yeah I was telling
16:12everybody in the neighborhood that my
16:14name is uh Charles we had the block
16:15party and of course all the moms and
16:17everybody are bringing their their
16:18dishes they're hanging out and
16:20everyone's saying how nice of a young
16:23man or a young boy that uh that Charles
16:25is to my mother and um my mom was like
16:28where's this Charles thing coming from
16:31and uh sure enough she found out that I
16:34was telling everybody my name was
16:35Charleston at the at the block party man
16:38but um yeah that was the last time I
16:40told everybody my name was Charles
16:42so thanks Chef man I appreciate you
16:44motivating me well I appreciate you as a
16:46government My Story Goes
16:49I hated Charles
16:51and there was a great basketball player
16:53in my high school called Travis
16:55Abernathy and I said Mom can I please
16:57change my damn name to Travis there's
17:00never Charles Barkley doesn't sound good
17:02and I said I might become a great
17:04basketball player and Travis Barkley
17:07sounds a lot better than Charles Barkley
17:09and she says you're not changing your
17:11damn name that's your grandfather's name
17:14and we used to joke about it she said
17:16aren't you glad you kept Charles I said
17:18I'm glad I kept Charles but Travis would
17:20have been so much cooler but you know
17:23what's really funny about that story
17:26when we go on the road to work
17:28I'm working I don't normally like to be
17:31bothered because I don't even go out and
17:33watch the game in person I want to sit
17:35down there so I can look at what's
17:37happening on the court
17:39and I'm downstairs one day and they come
17:42to say to me
17:43Travis Kelsey want to meet you I said a
17:45great tight end they said yeah he want
17:48to meet you I said hell yeah I want to
17:50meet him and Travis comes down and we
17:52have a moment and we talk and ever since
17:55then we swap numbers and we text back
17:57and forth and I'm so proud of his
18:00success now
18:02my friends were so impressed out they
18:04won the Super Bowl the first time I
18:07facetimed them and we're you know I go
18:09to Vegas every year for the Super Bowl
18:10my friend's like your face time and
18:13Travis Kelsey right after the Super Bowl
18:15and uh man it's just been great to be a
18:18friend and I'm so proud of your success
18:20I gotta ask you this though because
18:24winning the Super Bowl for the second
18:25time had to be bittersweet beating your
18:30brother in the Super Bowl I mean yeah
18:32it's I don't I don't that's never
18:34happened never happened tell me about
18:36that experience one moment you're happy
18:39and then you gotta go and get your
18:40brother hug it was uh it was a weird
18:43feeling man it was a weird feeling when
18:46I won the first one down in Miami
18:47against the 49ers it was um
18:50it was like everything that I had ever
18:52hoped it would ever be and um it was the
18:55exact I would say pretty much the
18:57opposite
18:58um winning it this year uh in Arizona
19:00against my brother man because uh you
19:03want it and you see everybody on your
19:04sideline getting excited you see you
19:07know coach Reed Pat and all your
19:09teammates and uh your emotions are high
19:12but you know that your brother's walking
19:14across the field and his his dream just
19:16got ripped right out of his hands and um
19:19you don't know you there's really
19:20nothing you can say to a guy I was just
19:22fortunate that um that you know they
19:24played their tail off they gave their
19:26best effort
19:27um it was it was one of those games
19:28where it went down to the wire and
19:30anybody could have wanted it just
19:31whoever really had it last whoever had
19:33that ball last
19:34um so he had nothing to hang his head
19:36about
19:37um he played he played an unbelievable
19:38game the Eagles played an unbelievable
19:40game so uh you know it's uh there's
19:42nothing you could say to a guy after he
19:44loses the Super Bowl it's gonna make him
19:45feel any better especially in uh the the
19:47height that was uh you know everybody
19:49tried to make it a Kelsey bowler it was
19:53it was it was just a unique experience
19:55but the the one thing that I remember
19:57the most about that entire week is uh
19:58the the week leading up to the game
20:01um how much uh the world really
20:03appreciated and accepted my family and
20:06uh the the you know just the family
20:08atmosphere that me and my brother have
20:10that me my mom and my dad have and uh to
20:12be able to put them on a pedestal and
20:14kind of shine light on them and how
20:16unbelievable uh they've been as parents
20:19and uh you know how fun it's been as a
20:21family growing with them that was the
20:23coolest thing that I think I've ever
20:25been able to accomplish in my career for
20:27sure hey Travis in high school you were
20:29quarterback so when did it uh sink in
20:32that that was not going to be where your
20:34future
20:36would lie in terms of football and and
20:39and and at the same time as you talk
20:42about your your your career as a
20:44quarterback what is it like to watch
20:46what Patrick Mahomes does in that
20:49position you just have to be a different
20:51different uh different kind type of a
20:54professional to be a quarterback you got
20:56to be you know
20:58kind of like uh Captain America you got
21:00to be you got to do everything the right
21:02ways
21:03there's a certain uh there's a certain
21:05image that you have to present uh not
21:07only to the team and your teammates but
21:09to you know the organization or the uh
21:11the people that are uh that are
21:13following
21:14um I realized that I wasn't uh made for
21:17that you know not only because my arm
21:19Talent was very average uh because you
21:23have to just have this uh this entire
21:25like uh I don't even know what to say a
21:27full package of like professionalism and
21:30um
21:31at tight end you don't necessarily have
21:33to have that you can kind of just show
21:34up be you
21:36um have fun and learn have fun in the
21:38room and everything like that you got to
21:39take it a little bit more serious as a
21:41quarterback and I don't like to take
21:42anything that serious so I I realized
21:45that I could still help out the
21:47quarterback a lot and still have a lot
21:48of fun uh playing tight end
21:51um when I made the transition in college
21:53it was it was like I found a whole new
21:55love for the game I knew how quarterback
21:57thought I knew how a quarterback uh
21:59wanted to see things from the pocket
22:02pocket perspective and I just kind of
22:04adapted that into how I was doing things
22:06on the field uh running routes and and
22:09blocking for guys and things like that
22:11so I um I was uh it was it was a
22:14blessing in disguise that uh that you
22:16know coach Bush Jones took me out of the
22:18QB room and threw me in the tight end
22:19room but um like I said I found a whole
22:21new love for the game when I moved into
22:22it you know it's it's you're climbing
22:26the ranks I know you got to be humble
22:28you're climbing the ranks in the
22:32conversation as the greatest tight end
22:34ever
22:35you know you're on the short list with
22:38you Rob Gronkowski
22:40Tony Gonzalez Shannon Sharp
22:45you you comfortable with that as you
22:48keep building your resume
22:50I mean I I'm extremely comfortable with
22:53it it's it's such an honor to even be in
22:55the the same toxins these guys man are
22:58you kidding me like to hear you say that
23:00in a a very respectable you know
23:04athlete that understands you know
23:06competition they understand you know a
23:09good teammate when he sees one he
23:11understands a good athlete when he sees
23:12one a good professional when he sees one
23:14for you to say that that means a lot man
23:15and uh it's like I said as long as I'm
23:17in the talks with it man that's all I
23:19care about I uh I just know that you
23:21know I go out here and give everything I
23:23can for this uh this Kansas City Chiefs
23:24organization because I I genuinely like
23:27the the people that I go to work with
23:28man I love coming into work every single
23:30day and I love uh you know running
23:32around out there and banging heads and
23:34scoring touchdowns man it's just it's
23:36been an absolute blast man so uh who
23:38knows if I end up uh taking the crown
23:41from a guy like Tony Gonzalez or uh
23:43ketcha and Ron Gronkowski if if I could
23:46ever get as many touchdowns as the same
23:48as any in my career man die gone I might
23:51have a chance but there's uh there's a
23:53lot of guys that I just respect in the
23:55tight end room that if I'm in the same
23:56toxins now man I'm doing something right
23:58yeah I gotta ask you this question
24:00though because this one thing that
24:01annoys me about football
24:04you Jerry Rice
24:08I don't even look at Rob in this same
24:10situation but I always said to myself
24:13why these two dudes always open why
24:16can't y'all stop them because like in
24:19basketball we can stop we like let's
24:21take the ball out of this dude's hand
24:23but when I'm watching you I'm watching
24:26Jerry Rice I'm since yo man why these
24:29dudes always open why the hell are you
24:32and Jerry Rice always open
24:35hahaha
24:36oh man then you just put me into the
24:39conversation with the other goat man I
24:41appreciate that Jerry was so smooth in
24:43how he ran around so he never he never
24:45kind of like tipped his cap on what he
24:46was gonna run next and uh and it was a
24:49different day and age back then but it
24:51was a it was a running League back when
24:52Jerry was uh was playing so you know the
24:56box was full and you were really
24:57one-on-one outside and I mean you put
25:00Jerry Rice 101 with anybody that's a
25:02tough cover right there so I could see
25:04him go getting open all the time for me
25:06I just get lost in the sauce I get lost
25:08in the madness in the middle of the
25:09field I I manipulate linebackers and I I
25:13confused safeties
25:15um and if they want to go man-to-man
25:17I'll you know that's when my basketball
25:19skills at least I think uh that's one of
25:22my basketball skills coming to come out
25:23of me is in my route running if you if
25:27you watch me it's like it's like I'm
25:28crossing over I'm hitting you with it in
25:30and out but I never had to handle this
25:32on the court so I was just taking the
25:34time making baby
25:36um but yeah so that that's I don't know
25:38I I guess a lot of it has to do with uh
25:41coach Reed this offense
25:43um a lot of what he does is uh is very
25:46confusing to a defense already and I
25:48just add to it by not trying to tip my
25:50cap on what we're doing hey Travis I'd
25:53love to get uh to have you and chuckster
25:55compare notes here having he's he's done
25:58Saturday Night Live a number of times
26:00you recently were able to to host that
26:03show uh number one just in terms of
26:07butterflies uh before you go live on SNL
26:11what does it compare to football wise
26:15it was like nothing I had ever
26:17experienced man it was a it was that's
26:19why I it's hard for me to say that it
26:22wasn't like the coolest thing I've ever
26:23done because like playing in two Super
26:25Bowls has always been my dream but I
26:27secretly being on SNL just being on SNL
26:31has always been a dream of mine so to be
26:34able to walk out of that door and walk
26:36down the steps and have a monologue and
26:38sit there and have the entire world in
26:40your hands and talking to them like
26:42they're your like they're your best
26:43friend it's um it's a feeling that I I
26:47just can't explain man it's so freaking
26:49cool and um Lauren Michaels and
26:51everybody over at 30 Rock they do such a
26:53great job of making you feel comfortable
26:55in what you're doing like that the
26:56script that I had for uh the monologue
26:58that I had felt so genuine to me and I
27:01could just tell the story how it is and
27:03tell the
27:05um tell the world exactly who I am and
27:06it was um it was just so much fun but
27:09um the dress rehearsal right before the
27:12actual live show man I wish Shake
27:17I really don't get too nervous I get
27:19more excited for opportunities than I
27:22get nervous for opportunities and man I
27:24was uh I was in my head about it all I
27:26was I was trying to deliver the best uh
27:28the best speech the best monologue that
27:30I ever had and
27:32um sure enough I had a few hiccups in
27:33the dress rehearsal and I knew that uh I
27:35knew what I had to do to you know at
27:38least keep my composure for when we went
27:40live on Saturday night you know what's
27:43crazy craft
27:44I know I can read
27:46and I was like I was so nervous to walk
27:49out there to do the monologue I says
27:51damn I know I can read why am I so
27:54nervous I'm shaking like a leaf I said
27:58dude all you got to do is read
28:00and you still nervous it's crazy
28:04man it's crazy I'm happy for you at
28:07least you can read man I don't know I uh
28:09I'm gonna miss that class A few times
28:13and honestly as you know Chuck there's a
28:16there's a Wednesday before the show you
28:18go through about 20 to 40 table reads
28:21you sit there and you actually just read
28:23every single script
28:25um and you try to figure out whatever uh
28:27whatever skits that that you kind of fit
28:29with the best that's really where you
28:31find out which ones are are hitters or
28:33not and I um I'll tell you what man I
28:35hadn't read that much on a piece of
28:37paper since high school or maybe maybe
28:40in college I read that message I don't
28:42know it was like burning my eyes how
28:44much I was reading uh that week and it
28:47tests me in that regard but um yeah no
28:49it was uh all you had to do is read
28:51Chuck that was it baby just go up there
28:53and just be as cool as the other side of
28:55the pillow man how many times did they
28:57snatch your clothes off and they're
28:58screaming at you two minutes and they're
29:01trying to get your next outfit on I mean
29:03that was crazy easy like you got you got
29:06like four women one of them got two of
29:09them got a leg the other two got a
29:11shoulders and they're like two minutes
29:14they snap their clothes off you're
29:16standing there in just your underwear
29:17and they have to velcro the next outfit
29:20on and they're like a minute and 45 a
29:24minute and 30 one minute how many times
29:26do you have to do that every single skit
29:29every single skit it's so much fun it
29:32happens all so freaking fast you get
29:34yanked off the stage you get thrown into
29:36not even a dressing room just like a
29:38corner where the the the three girls or
29:41the four four ladies that are helping
29:43you out just kind of cover you so that
29:45nobody can see you but you're I'm I mean
29:47I'm six five I'm staring over everyone
29:49with my shirt off and nothing but my
29:51draws on and just like hey how are you
29:53just put a shirt on there don't mind me
29:56if this she's zipping up a zipper and
29:59she buckles my you know my button on my
30:01pants I'm just like well I haven't been
30:03dressed like this I was like five years
30:05old man but it was uh it was wild it was
30:08a wild experience
30:10I'd love to do again that's how that's
30:12how much fun it was so now you want to
30:14be an actor huh I'll tell you what man
30:16if there was a
30:17I um I've always had fun like imitating
30:20people and uh comedy has always been you
30:23know my favorite style of uh the movies
30:25or TV and stuff and doing SNL just made
30:29it made me see it from a different
30:30perspective a different professional
30:32like perspective and um it's something
30:35that I if if I do get into I feel like
30:37I'm gonna have to dive in deep and and
30:39really get in uh get into my bag about
30:41things trying to try and really take off
30:44with it but I I had a blast doing SNL so
30:46I think that's uh that's something I'm
30:47definitely gonna keep exploring hey you
30:49know I want to ask you about your
30:51brother your brother called me last year
30:54he wants to talk about retirement
30:57I says hell no
30:59I said you can do nothing for the rest
31:03you I said dude I said Jason let me tell
31:06you this you can do nothing for the rest
31:08of your life
31:09ain't nothing gonna be better than
31:12playing pro football
31:14until the day you can't play anymore
31:18and I said dude you can be a dad you
31:22could be a carpool dude you play
31:24football as long as you can because once
31:27it's over
31:28you're gonna miss it what does your
31:31brother mean to you
31:33man
31:35I am we we've had such a unique
31:38upbringing
31:39um I don't I don't play any of the
31:42sports that I played growing up without
31:43him he's literally two years older than
31:45me uh he started playing football in
31:47middle school I started playing then
31:49um when he went to high school we went
31:51to the same College I followed him to
31:53Cincinnati University of Cincinnati
31:55shout out to the Bearcats and then uh
31:57coach Reed get drafts my brother in
31:59Philly two years later he goes to Kansas
32:01City and drafts me
32:03um so my entire life I've just kind of
32:05been following these footsteps of these
32:07stairs to success and my brother's just
32:10been leading the way just being the bull
32:12the bull in the china shop just knocking
32:15all the barriers down and all everything
32:16in the room down for me to be able to
32:18just kind of walk in and live happy
32:20little lucky and what he's been for me
32:23as a as just a brother and just uh you
32:26know a mentor in my life is one thing
32:28man but um what he is what he's done uh
32:32to make my life so much easier uh
32:34professionally I mean we just had coach
32:36Reed on on our on our podcast New
32:39Heights talk about I don't know if he's
32:41he's drafting me without Jason you know
32:43showing his professionalism and and who
32:45he was in the Eagles locker room and
32:47things like that so
32:48um he's the reason why I'm wearing
32:50number 87 he was born in 1987. uh and I
32:53feel like that's when it really started
32:55for uh for the Kelsey boys uh in the NFL
32:57so I I have a lot of love for that guy
33:00man and I um I can't I can't thank him
33:02enough for what he's been for me how
33:04much fun is it to do a podcast just tell
33:06us about your podcast of name and
33:07everything I know about it but tell our
33:09guys too uh the new heights baby with uh
33:13with Jason Kelsey and my brother Barbara
33:15my brother Jason Kelsey and myself
33:18um we started it up just trying to you
33:21know I don't know really just have a
33:23have a conversation we didn't think it
33:24was going to be you know where it got to
33:27today we we just uh we wanted to to find
33:30a way to kind of you know take
33:33our relationship and and showcase it to
33:36the World
33:37um and it took the right uh production
33:39it took the right uh people to kind of
33:41get it all together and
33:43um yeah what we realized is that um we
33:46hadn't had that much time to talk just
33:51football and life with each other our
33:54entire careers and it's kind of like we
33:57sit back like man why haven't we been
33:59doing this since the jump you know I get
34:01two hours specifically every single week
34:04and just sit here and talk to my brother
34:05uh all the way on the other side of the
34:07the states and um it just kind of
34:10brought us together even more and I
34:12think the the following that we have the
34:1592 percenters that we got over there
34:17they um they show they they appreciate
34:20you know seeing that growth and US
34:23bonding and that sibling banter banter
34:26that uh that you see in a lot of
34:27households
34:28um and on top of that man my brother's
34:30uh he's a riot so he's not shy to say
34:34anything on like you can you can check
34:36us out on uh anywhere you get your
34:38podcasts or follow us on social medias
34:40at New Heights show baby hey this um
34:43the whole family aspect of this and you
34:46kind of touched on it when you talked
34:47about the Super Bowl but when you're on
34:50that stage does your mind go back not
34:53during the game but just
34:55that whole time surrounding the Super
34:57Bowl does it go back to those mornings
34:59where you remember Mom and Dad taking
35:01you to the rec league games and you're
35:04oh yeah you know and that whole vibe and
35:06and man yeah so what's it what's that
35:09like how gratifying is that when you
35:11remember that and you think of the
35:13sacrifices your folks made to to make
35:15sure you could play and that kind of
35:17thing well it really takes me back to
35:19the days where because my dad was always
35:21very involved in you know the uh the
35:24booster clubs in my like or like the uh
35:27the parent like group that would help
35:29out with the uh with the football in
35:31middle school and he was the one holding
35:33the chains on the sideline during the
35:34high school games and
35:37um so my father taking us to practice
35:39making sure our pads were all set making
35:42sure you know after
35:44you know a week of practice you know
35:45bringing home the the the
35:48um
35:49the pants and the jersey and making sure
35:51we're washing them and taking them into
35:52you know I'm I'm wearing my jersey every
35:54game day on Fridays
35:56all of it that week before all of it we
36:00had a dinner and then the entire family
36:02was there and it just felt like I was a
36:05little kid I was like 15 years old and I
36:07was just stuck in that world because
36:09everybody was able to see my family and
36:11kind of go down memory lane with me and
36:14um I was able to Showcase you know just
36:16how awesome my parents are and not
36:18everybody gets to be able to put their
36:19family on a pedestal and uh get to
36:22Showcase their their mom and dad because
36:23of how amazing they are and that was
36:25such a it was I was just so fortunate
36:27man and uh like I said that's that's
36:29probably going to be what I remember the
36:30most about the entire experience Trav I
36:33know how competitive you and Pat are
36:35don't lie tell the truth how hard have
36:39you been working on your golf game
36:40getting ready for the match Chuck you
36:42know I'm I'm grinding right now I've
36:44never hit the range like this ever in my
36:46life I'm starting to figure some things
36:47out I was out playing yesterday I hit
36:48the range for about an hour went out
36:50there and still shot at 85 like I was a
36:52squirrel I was kicking that thing
36:54writing list and I was on the Range you
36:57really find like
36:59you think you find it and then you go
37:02out onto the onto the course man and for
37:05whatever reason man whether it's the lie
37:07or something I always blame it on you
37:09know outside factors it's never me it's
37:11always you don't need to lie I gotta
37:13just keep practicing the uh the the
37:15different elevations of shots and
37:18um but I I ain't getting I am getting
37:19dialed in I am getting dialed in I'm
37:21getting uh getting better with the
37:23wedges and uh and off the tee you you
37:25know me if I get off the tee I can
37:26actually play golf it's when I spray
37:28them right and left and I can't find the
37:30freaking ball off the tee that's when it
37:32gets ugly for me Travis I am convinced
37:35that there's some there's some
37:38phenomenon uh at work where somewhere
37:42between the range and the First Tee
37:45something falls out of the golf cart or
37:47falls out of your golf bag no matter how
37:50you are striping it on the Range and you
37:52say oh let's go I cannot wait to play
37:54today and then that first T-ball off the
37:57First Tee is going to be one of them
37:59duck hook or one of these banana flares
38:03out to the and it's like where did that
38:05come from I didn't hit a ball like that
38:07the entire time I'm on the Range it's
38:09good to know that there are other folks
38:10out there besides me who uh who have
38:15experienced this phenomenon
38:17oh yeah I'm right there in the boat
38:19that's actually why I've stayed away
38:20from the range you know I don't want to
38:22I don't want to mentally be in a place
38:23where I feel like I'm comfortable so
38:26I'll stay away from the range and Chuck
38:29knows this out when we when we played
38:31out around the American Century in in
38:34Tahoe
38:35um I'm going straight from the parking
38:37lot straight to the First Tee Box I may
38:39try that if I'm gonna be on the match
38:41and I'm gonna you know to be teamed up
38:43with uh Patty Mahomes and go up against
38:46you know arguably the best duo that uh
38:48the NBA has ever seen and Steph Curry
38:50and Klay Thompson
38:52um I'm gonna hit the range just I'm
38:54gonna grind it out just a little bit
38:55before but I don't know if I'm gonna hit
38:56the range before the match I want to be
38:58in a certain metal place that uh you
39:00know I'm not getting frustrated with it
39:02with my first link well you know hey man
39:04I just want to thank you I know you got
39:06go to your real job it's been awesome
39:09getting to know you these last few years
39:11I'm so proud of your success it couldn't
39:14happen to a better better guy the only
39:16thing I ask for you I gotta meet your

39:34I can't imagine as a mom and a dad
39:38having two kids number one GoPro
39:41but also playing in the biggest sporting
39:44event in the world against each other
39:46against each other so that's the only

39:53these days man it was honestly it would
39:56be an honor for her too you already know
39:58she would she would love to me she said
39:59uh you know it's um
40:02it's so freaking cool same saying how
40:05how we initially meant the story you
40:06told earlier on the show that was on the
40:09flip side I was sitting there like man

58:15we had a loss in the family recently my
58:17uncle in Cyprus passed which of course
58:19Drew back into Focus the most important
58:21thing family
58:23I'm curious how you block out
58:25distractions and frustrations which in
58:27the big picture are little things
58:30how do you maintain absolute focus on
58:33what's most important
58:34sending love from Down Under staff
58:37is awesome
58:40individual from day one of this uh of
58:44this pod making us laugh and making us
58:47think yeah
58:48um you know number one sorry for your
58:51loss
58:52um
58:53you know and I'll let you take this
58:54because you've had
58:56a rough
58:58period in your life
59:00losing your son Michael
59:03you lost your mom
59:05and you lost your sister how do you
59:09balance
59:10all that
59:11see I was hoping that you were going to
59:13answer the question first because I it's
59:15I was thinking about all of this because
59:17that was like that was in the span of
59:20of
59:22less than a year and a half yeah and um
59:25you know I think you
59:28um
59:29number one you realize that
59:31you're not the only person in the world
59:33who's
59:34got that who's got that you know and
59:37yeah it's a lot in it in a short time
59:40because you're but I think what I've
59:43realized I'm not
59:45I'm not trying to get over it yeah I'm
59:47just trying to deal with it and there
59:49are going to be some days that really
59:51suck and they're and they're going to be
59:53times where something happens in the
59:55middle of a day that just blindsides you
59:58and all of a sudden you're like
1:00:01you're in a you're in a tough spot but
1:00:04but I think also just cherishing the
1:00:08memories that all three of those
1:00:12family members gave me in those moments
1:00:15from Michael and Dawn and my mom and and
1:00:19that
1:00:20that gets you through some of those
1:00:22times my faith sustains me and
1:00:24knowing I'm just gonna I'm gonna see him
1:00:27again so that gets me through it but man
1:00:30there are just times Chuck like Michael
1:00:32used to love it when I would laminate
1:00:33pictures of cars for him because one of
1:00:36our biggest things was to go to car
1:00:38dealerships and get brochures and then
1:00:41come home and he would pick out the
1:00:43pictures and he wanted me to laminate
1:00:45and then we would put him in a binder
1:00:47and then invariably a week later I'd say
1:00:49you want to look at those pictures if
1:00:51throw them away so all that work would
1:00:54would go would be for a week's worth but
1:00:58there are times I'll be in a store and
1:00:59I'll walk past a
1:01:02display of these new laminators and it
1:01:06knocks the wind out of you so I know
1:01:09there's not an answer it's like it's
1:01:11like from one day to the next
1:01:13you know we'll get there and for me
1:01:16I have to always remember like okay I'm
1:01:20the leader so I've been a leader in my
1:01:21family since I was 16. I was raised by
1:01:24my mother and grandmother
1:01:26uh and so I've been really leading my
1:01:29family since I was like 16.
1:01:32and the one thing I try to do is
1:01:36everybody's looking around for me
1:01:39to lead so the one thing I was like
1:01:42I can't ever go crazy I have to be upset
1:01:46privately
1:01:48not when I'm with them because you know
1:01:50Shaq always has an interesting phrase
1:01:52and I actually agree with he says if the
1:01:55general Don't Panic the troops won't
1:01:57panic
1:01:58and I actually I hate saying Shaq is
1:02:02Right anytime but what you're about to I
1:02:05do agree with that
1:02:07and
1:02:08especially with my mother and
1:02:09grandmother they were very sensitive
1:02:12anytime somebody died or somebody bad
1:02:14something bad happened
1:02:16I wanted to make sure that I supported
1:02:20them and stayed strong so hey staff
1:02:24earning the phrase Ernie my muse my
1:02:26phrase happens
1:02:29and there's nothing you can do about it
1:02:31but Ernie did say something interesting
1:02:33he says stuff happens to everybody
1:02:37and you just have to keep going
1:02:39this this thing life it's a journey it's
1:02:43never a destination
1:02:45until it's over but good stuff gonna
1:02:49happen
1:02:50bad stuff gonna happen
1:02:52but you just have to keep going plain
1:02:54and simple and and don't feel like you
1:02:56have to put on this this uh
1:03:00this face of uh oh no I'm everything's
1:03:02good I'm fine look they're going to be
1:03:04times where you just where it's just
1:03:06there it's a bad day okay you know this
1:03:08is gonna happen and uh
1:03:10my daughter has it first she says and
1:03:13Ernest just said it sometimes things
1:03:15just suck yeah man sir there are days
1:03:18like that some days just suck plain and
1:03:21simple doesn't mean there's anything
1:03:22wrong with you yeah yeah it's just
1:03:24that's the way it works all right next

1:03:33lucky enough to go to game one of the
1:03:36Celtics versus Heat game right before
1:03:38you guys run on the air I saw Ernie you
1:03:41gave each member a fist bump but when
1:03:43you went to Charles you guys point at
1:03:44each other and went yeah
1:03:46just wondering where that came from
1:03:48thank you

1:03:54Martinez who does that in our baseball
1:03:56studio and and basically it's this yeah
1:04:01yeah we stole that from the great Pedro
1:04:04Martinez I mean we stole it and I don't
1:04:07know where Petey got it but he does it
1:04:09all the time and it's just so hilarious
1:04:12when he does it yes and he's such a good
1:04:14dude yeah and when I met him for the
1:04:16first time I was like
1:04:17I think I asked TK
1:04:19as TK I gotta meet Pedro Martinez and
1:04:23when you meet a celebrity or a star and
1:04:26they're awesome you're like man that was
1:04:28great and Pedro we see him all the time
1:04:30during the playoffs we don't see him a
1:04:32lot during the regular season
1:04:33and man he's just such a good person
1:04:36and uh him and Grandy
1:04:40um j-roll j-roll and Lawrence
1:04:45so uh we we stole that from Pedro
1:04:47Martinez yeah yeah next call

1:05:18a positive difference to that person

1:05:26that was this Soldier
1:05:28one of my Charities is Wounded Warriors
1:05:30and I really bothers me how our
1:05:33government
1:05:34don't take care of veterans
1:05:36and there was a veteran who said he was
1:05:40really suffering from PTSD
1:05:43and he said he was really having a hard
1:05:45time
1:05:47and he says
1:05:49I don't remember how he started
1:05:51stumbling up upon the steam room
1:05:54and he says I just want to thank you
1:05:56guys
1:05:58for brightening my days because I was
1:06:00really having a hard time
1:06:02and I just didn't know what I was gonna
1:06:04do and I stumbled upon the steam room
1:06:06that meant a lot to me
1:06:08and there was this lady
1:06:10who lost her job during the pandemic
1:06:14and she says you know what I had all
1:06:16this free time I started walking
1:06:19and I started listening to you guys
1:06:21podcasts
1:06:23those are two that stand out to me
1:06:26to answer your question I mean I can't
1:06:29remember specific yeah names but yeah
1:06:31there have been several and I think
1:06:33every time we hear those Chuck it's like
1:06:35really yeah you know we're just sitting
1:06:38around talking to each other for an hour
1:06:40and 15 minutes you know and and and
1:06:43like our show it's not like we sit down
1:06:47and rehearse segments of it or say dude
1:06:50we're just kind of reacting to what what
1:06:52each other say and then drawing from
1:06:54whatever our life experiences are when
1:06:57we when you get to be over 60 and you've
1:06:59and you've lived a lot of life as as we
1:07:02have we've seen a lot of stuff and and
1:07:05we're just kind of sharing that and for
1:07:07that to resonate with somebody that's
1:07:09that's important to us not to make us
1:07:12feel like Hey we're really doing
1:07:13something just because look we're all in
1:07:16this thing
1:07:17um we're all waking up yeah yeah the
1:07:20teacher who
1:07:22who called in and we had him on his own
1:07:24here yeah he says I indoctrinated your
1:07:27guys show enter with my students
1:07:29and you guys know Ernest daughter's a
1:07:32teacher teachers mean a lot to me
1:07:35so I forgot about him but man when we
1:07:38get a call like that on the answer
1:07:40machine it brightens out it because I
1:07:42said it earlier and I'm not even joking
1:07:45when we first started this thing I was
1:07:47like
1:07:48I don't want to do this I
1:07:49don't want to do a podcast and they're
1:07:52like we would like for you and Ernie to
1:07:54do a podcast and it's turned into one of
1:07:57the coolest things some of the guests
1:07:58we've had haven't been incredible but
1:08:01the calls have been incredible also and
1:08:03the thing that shocked me was
1:08:05when we started getting calls none of
1:08:07them were from the United States yeah
1:08:10I mean the guy who did uh Gladiator
1:08:13right he called in and says I'm a I was
1:08:17like what he said I did I played this
1:08:18character in Gladiator and like are you
1:08:21serious right now somebody who's that
1:08:23serious listen to our stupid podcast
1:08:25yeah so man we appreciate you calling in
1:08:28yeah just like look we're all trying to
1:08:30help each other from one day to the next
1:08:32yes and there are folks who will Who
1:08:34will inspire you today or tomorrow that
1:08:37you didn't see it coming or they will
1:08:39have the an encouraging word for you so
1:08:41if if we're able to do that every now
1:08:42and then and kind of help you through a
1:08:44day man that's awesome next call
1:08:51just wondering if you have any fun
1:08:53exciting or interesting plans for your
1:08:57summer
1:08:59uh play some golf probably chuckster I'm
1:09:01playing golf every day hang out with
1:09:03some grandkids chuckster you know this
1:09:06has been an incredible
1:09:07your year 14 months for me
1:09:10you know two people I admire are Ernie
1:09:13and Clark Kellogg
1:09:15and we have been talking about grandkids
1:09:18and
1:09:21I've had a crazy amazing life
1:09:24I don't go crazy or get overly excited
1:09:28about a lot of things
1:09:30I mean I enjoy them and they're exciting
1:09:33but I don't go crazy
1:09:35and Ernie and clark'll be like yo man
1:09:39having grandkids gonna be
1:09:41a life changer for you I'm like yeah I'm
1:09:44excited
1:09:45it's gonna be pretty cool but let me
1:09:48tell you something until you have
1:09:49grandkids you can't even put it into
1:09:52words
1:09:54and when I see little Henry now he's 14
1:09:58months and now
1:10:01my daughter and her husband shocked me
1:10:03and named little Charlie after me
1:10:06Charlie Eliza
1:10:09I can't even put it into work and now
1:10:11Henry is starting to walk and run around
1:10:15taking a walk with him I can't wait to
1:10:19do that more you should see yourself
1:10:20right now it's crazy and you know and I
1:10:24told Ernie I'm starting to act like
1:10:26white people now because for some reason
1:10:29white people always want to show you
1:10:31their grandkids you're 10 times worse
1:10:34than me
1:10:35I never got that
1:10:37because I've never shown
1:10:39I don't remember showing pictures of my
1:10:42daughter when she like her childhood
1:10:44and my white friends they always want to
1:10:48show me kids how cute their kids are
1:10:50grandkids are I'm like I know they're
1:10:53cute I see them now I see myself I'm
1:10:57showing pictures of my grandkids like
1:10:59it's crazy and it's amazing so my summer
1:11:03is going to be spent
1:11:05watching these kids grow up and like I
1:11:08say little Hemorrhage to the age where
1:11:10we can take walks
1:11:11and play around together oh by the way
1:11:14chuckster look at little Adler by the
1:11:17way oh my goodness look at that
1:11:19this is yeah this is Eric's latest uh
1:11:23Eric and Quinn's latest young and Adler
1:11:26this is just unbelievable so you're
1:11:30right and you know what it does Chuck
1:11:33and and all you folks out there who is
1:11:35there who may not be there yet but might
1:11:38be
1:11:39you think that
1:11:41you what it demonstrates to you is
1:11:45there's so much untapped love inside of
1:11:48you you didn't even know it was there
1:11:50until now these now these new creatures
1:11:52are walking around and I got five of
1:11:54those guys now and there's this untapped
1:11:59Fountain yeah inside of you there's man
1:12:03I thought I'd I thought all my love was
1:12:05wrapped up in my wife or my kids or my
1:12:08and it's like wow there's a lot in there
1:12:11yeah and that's a pretty encouraging
1:12:13thing you know and that's a pretty cool
1:12:15thing so a lot of ground two grand
1:12:17babies but a lot of golf I'm gonna play
1:12:20golf yeah I'll hit the beach too I'll
1:12:23keep your shirt on Kenny but I'm not
1:12:26go to the beach and keep my shirt on
1:12:28yeah Kenny Kenny's got an awful body
1:12:31on TMZ aren't going to be following me
1:12:33around that's right
1:12:36that's a story for another person yeah
1:12:39following you around good point that was
1:12:41a lot of fun it was another great year
1:12:43of doing this hey man I know it takes a
