0:24there and there aren't Idols cluttering
0:27up your relationship with God the idol

0:30you with me there been our secret really
0:33and it makes you happy because not
0:35ticking off how many blind people are
0:37being healed doesn't give you Joy love
0:39gives you Joy Joy is the daughter of
0:41love and you learn love in your life
0:44vocation in your marriage and as a
0:47father and as so on in this situ

0:52perusia podcast uh it's a special one
0:54today we are here at the Servants of
0:56jesus' headquarters and all the way from
0:59England I have the founder of a very
1:02interesting and very powerful community
1:03that you may not have heard of and I
1:05want to say it's a it's in Latin cor
1:07Lumen Christie a contemplative and
1:09charismatic Community with a Eucharistic
1:11heart the founder is none other than the
1:13author of this book um renew your
1:16wonders now available in Australia and
1:18it's another than Damen stain Daman how
1:20are you can I shake your hand yeah
1:22lovely to be here thank you um first of
1:24all I mean congratulations we've it's
1:26it's now uh in Australia this book uh
1:29it's it's a Masterpiece I I've just I
1:31love the structure and and the way this
1:33is put together I've been going through
1:34all the headings subheadings and I
1:36haven't finished it yet so I can't wait
1:38to to complete it but uh already just in
1:40the couple of weeks that um I've been
1:42familiar with it with with the people
1:44here the the feedback we're getting is
1:46is overwhelming so um this is wonderful
1:49you've been doing this a while and I'd
1:51like the audience to learn a bit about
1:53who you are um how you got involved but
1:56maybe start from the beginning of your
1:58faith Jour are you a credle Catholic and
2:00and and you know a bit about that
2:01upbringing could we do that uh today
2:03sure okay short version yeah um so uh I
2:08grew up in a very devout Catholic Family
2:10my mom was a convert she was converted
2:12by reading the life of St Dre she came
2:15from an Anglican uh non-practicing
2:17Anglican family her father was a lapsed
2:19Anglican and her mother was actually an
2:21atheist which was quite unusual uh way
2:23back then um and uh uh she they sent her
2:27to a little um convent school because
2:29they want wanted to make a you know a
2:31young lady out of her right and so she
2:34went to this uh comment school and she
2:36made friends with the nun who was uh
2:38there n called sister Emanuel and sister
2:40Emanuel had had very very close links
2:42her family had very close links with the
2:44lure Convent in fact her family had
2:47given money to the um for the founding
2:50of the convent wow and her grandfather
2:53had been the gardener in the convent Lio
2:56when TZ was there so there was a very
2:59very close link of the family with TZ so
3:02she gave my mom the life of St TZ when
3:05my mom was 14 she took it home that
3:07night and she read it by the morning she
3:09was a Catholic in her heart her parents
3:11made her wait two years uh and during
3:13those two years her father was so
3:15impressed with the radical change in her
3:17that he also became a Catholic and um uh
3:22and so then she met my father in the
3:23local Catholic youth club they got
3:25married and they from the beginning they
3:27were really radically committed
3:29Catholics
3:30um and my dad was one of the national
3:33leaders in a uh Catholic movement uh in
3:36the church in the late 50s early 60s uh
3:40and um with working with young people a
3:42lot of young people in England in in
3:44England yeah it's an international
3:45movement and uh um and then he worked
3:49for the bishop he became full-time
3:51worker as a layman in the 60s for the
3:53bishop helping the bishop to
3:55implement you know the the decisions of
3:58the second Vatican Council in the Das
4:00um so is we grew up in a house in which
4:03there were all these young people who'd
4:05been brought back to faith in God and
4:07love of the church through my dad's
4:08Ministry my mom's Ministry wow so that's
4:10what we lived we grew up in that um and
4:13I was very lucky because um my parents
4:16were extremely devoted parents not just
4:19workers for the church yeah that's
4:21important yeah which was very very
4:22important you're only child or you had
4:24no I have I have a brother younger
4:26brother and two sisters beautiful and um
4:29uh uh but my dad uh kind of overworked
4:33um had a kind of burnout really I mean
4:35his Bishop was his line manager Bishop's
4:37never managed lay men before I didn't
4:38know you know how to do all that so I'm
4:40not knocking the bishop but you know
4:41that there was that sort of situation
4:44and what happened to me was a kind of
4:45spirit of mistrust of authority came
4:47into me through that experience seeing
4:49my dad crash and he was like he was a
4:52guy who never lost an arm wrestle in the
4:53Army when he was doing his you know
4:55national service you know he was
4:56extremely funny good-look you know all
4:59very Gifted Man uh and um uh and then
5:04see him sort of Crash like that that was
5:06did something aside me so as I grew up I
5:09got more and more involved in this whole
5:11heavy Rock thing which really is
5:14epitomized by Spirit of rebellion um and
5:18uh you know you know these bands you'll
5:20know in Australia you know ACDC and you
5:22know Le Zepplin and Black Sabbath all
5:24these old you know bands like you know
5:27all that and it became my religion it
5:29became religion I went to 50 concerts in
5:31one year you know I was from head to
5:34foot I was you know dressed you know
5:36like that and uh you know long hair you
5:41know uh I can only you know look back
5:44with happy
5:45memories um so I had long hair you know
5:4870 holes in my jeans I drank with you
5:51know a lot of bikers who carried weapons
5:53you know it was all like that you know
5:55and uh my my whole life was you know
5:59immer Ed in that whole way of living my
6:02parents so because they' done so much
6:03youth work they were really really smart
6:06they just walked with me they didn't
6:08chuck me out the house you they just
6:10stayed and
6:11prayed and um and I became as a fruit of
6:15all of this life a kind of unwilling
6:19atheist really I quite like the idea
6:21that God was real but you know when
6:22people talk about you know uh they they
6:26they had their Catholic faith and then
6:27they come into a personal relationship
6:29with Jesus somehow the whole thing
6:30becomes real and personal and it and
6:33they have an experience where actually
6:34there is God is filling the universe
6:37they have a kind of experience of that
6:39and uh and what happened to me was I had
6:41exactly the opposite as a fruit of all
6:43this life I was living in the heavy Rock
6:45scene was I had a personal experience of
6:48the universe being a void this I wasn't
6:51an atheist intellectually I was an
6:54atheist by experience yeah there was it
6:57was empty
7:00it was empty like I would like it to
7:02have not been empty but it was empty and
7:06um and then yeah and then uh uh I had
7:11this uh my parents just poured
7:13unconditional love on me they were
7:14praying and praying you know I used to
7:16go up into my room it was like a shrine
7:18to these heavy metal guys had hundreds
7:20of albums you know and all of that and
7:22uh and I come back you know from
7:24wherever I've been sinning somewhere and
7:27there'd be like water running down my
7:29posters
7:30and I think what the heck's going on my
7:31parents have been in there with their
7:32holy water you know doing this like this
7:34you know I remember you know waking up
7:37one morning having come back from the
7:39pub very drunk and throwing my clothes
7:41on in the corner and falling into bed
7:43you know in my birthday suit waking up
7:45in the morning extremely uncomfortable
7:48you know thinking oh what is that my
7:50parents been putting blessed salt in my
7:52bed you know so you know so they were
7:55really fighting for me you know and uh
7:58but they never they they did they I'm
8:00just curious did they show their um I
8:03guess were they disappointed or were
8:04they um I never once saw a look of
8:08disappointment from them never once
8:11never once because they never lost faith
8:14that in my deep heart was a good lad
8:17never once so whenever they looked at me
8:20I never saw disappointment I only saw
8:23their
8:24belief in what who I really was inside
8:28well and what about your your attitude
8:29to them because typically teenagers
8:32there is this rebellious attitude to Mom
8:34and Dad see CU my dad was so funny all
8:38like he was a teacher right and all my
8:41my mates at school came from the school
8:43that he taught and he was all of their
8:46favorite teacher CU he was so funny so
8:48like my parents were considered really
8:50cool by my friends so my friends love
8:52coming to my house because my dad was so
8:54funny so they just didn't feel like my
8:58parents were like
9:00uncool so even when I was in Rebellion
9:02you know against their lifestyle I was
9:06never in Rebellion against them
9:08personally does that make sense because
9:11right I knew no one loved me like they
9:13love me okay what why would you hate
9:17that people like that so I couldn't
9:19agree with what they their I didn't want
9:20their boring life you know but as far as
9:23who they were I you couldn't help
9:25respecting them as human beings yeah um
9:28and like they just knew knew not to go
9:30to war with me over the wrong things so
9:32they knew what was going on with me and
9:34my girlfriend you know they knew and it
9:35was going on in their house you know
9:37they knew but what's the alternative
9:39they Chu me out and I go and live with
9:41my biker mates I'd have been dead in a
9:43ditch in two years you know so it like
9:46this you know um I remember when I was
9:50teaching at Stubenville years ago I did
9:51a conference at Stubenville and I gave
9:53my testimony and uh a guy came up to me
9:56afterwards and he said oh you know my
9:57daughter she was getting into drugs you
9:59know living this sort of life that
10:00you're talking about I wasn't really
10:01into drugs really just drinking and sex
10:04and the music really the music was my
10:05drug really um and um uh and uh he came
10:11up to me and said he said so I threw her
10:13out I said go home as soon as you go
10:17home drive over pick her up and take her
10:20back what chance has she got over there
10:24what chance has she got thrown out who's
10:27she going to go to not the people are
10:29going to help her so he drove home and
10:31he went home and he picked her up and
10:32brought her home wow now she's got a
10:34chance all right so you know they just
10:37prayed and prayed and prayed they they
10:40weren't anxious because they had Faith
10:44they just knew that God would turn me so
10:47I they were never whenever they were
10:49talking to me there was
10:52like one thing that that that we despise
10:57in people is people who are driven by
10:59fear
11:00here and if your kids pick up that
11:04you're really afraid of the things that
11:07they're
11:08into they can't respect that and the
11:12thing with my parents was they were they
11:15had Faith they were like then I'm not
11:17shaken by this yeah you're just being
11:19silly you know you're just doing you're
11:20just doing you're just doing your your
11:22thing you know wow you know we're
11:24praying God will have the last say and I
11:28just said so so I I could like there was
11:31no like I couldn't shock my parents my
11:34parents were unshockable you know just
11:36unshockable so it was just like
11:39Rebellion becomes like well boring who
11:40am I rebelling for then like what who am
11:43I rebelling against like they're not
11:45even watching like they were watching
11:47but they weren't like being impressed
11:48they weren't being shocked you know they
11:50weren't you know none of that they just
11:52were super cool about the whole thing
11:55wow really really it wasn't that their
11:56hearts weren't breaking for me of course
11:58you know what was going going on in in
12:00me and I was getting in a bad way and
12:02later I had to go through Deliverance
12:05Ministry I mean I'd never even seen it
12:07and then I went and I got prayer I had
12:09to be chased around the floor with a
12:10crucifix I had all this experience of
12:12voices coming out my mouth that were
12:13mine I felt my body on fire when they
12:16put the holy water on me because of this
12:17whole demonic thing that's in the heavy
12:19metal thing and it had become my
12:21religion these guys were my Idols these
12:24were acts informal acts of worship going
12:26on that was in in my life interesting so
12:29I had to have all that cleaned out you
12:31know what how did did you go to an event
12:34or was I was going to a prayer meeting
12:36and there was a man were you drag
12:38screaming going or what no no no no I
12:40mean what happened the turnaround
12:42happened because I got like in the end
12:44you harvest the fruits of how you live
12:46and I was living very very selfishly and
12:48all the rest of it uh and this Darkness
12:51was you know you know everywhere and uh
12:56uh and I remember I was sitting in the
12:58sitting room and some program came on
13:00somewhat flick the channel and what came
13:02on was this this um uh program about
13:07Trappist monks and I looked at them and
13:10the peace I thought I got to have some
13:13of that now I was into the heavy metal
13:15thing the hippie thing you know like
13:17searching for sort of spiritual
13:19realization wasn't uncool in some of
13:21those circles um so um I thought I've
13:25got to have some of that and I thought
13:27who do I know who's got some of that
13:28like your parents too Too Close to You
13:29can't see you so I thought don't and I
13:31thought oh there's that bloke in the
13:32Catholic parish he's just walks around
13:35in this cloud of peace I thought ah he's
13:37got that and then I talked to my parents
13:40and they said oh he leads this prayer
13:41group that we go to I knew they went off
13:42to this thing I didn't never asked
13:44didn't want to know um wasn't interested
13:47um and they'd been baptized in the Holy
13:49Spirit about three or four years before
13:51two or three years before and um so I
13:54thought all right okay so I'll go along
13:56I'll go along to that meeting and I
13:57thought it was like going to yoga
13:59you know I'm not proven a yoga but I'm
14:01making judment about that but I thought
14:02it was like yoga or going to the gym if
14:05you go to the gym you do the exercises
14:06you get weights yes you know if you go
14:09and do all these spiritual exercises
14:11then you get sort of like you know in a
14:13peace or something so I thought these
14:15guys have stumbled across you know some
14:18mechanism that is just a physiological
14:20thing but sort of works to give you
14:22peace so they say these words and do
14:25these things and then you get peace oh
14:27fine I'm willing to do that I you know
14:29the fact that you know that they think
14:30is a god well that doesn't matter you
14:32know they can keep that but I'm I'll
14:34come and get in peace so I went along to
14:36the meetings and this was back in the
14:381980s and I was 19 and I came in and I
14:42looked like something dragged out of the
14:44sewer you know and you know my life was
14:46in really in a bad way um and uh and
14:50there was a candle in the
14:52middle mostly old ladies with kind of
14:56blue rinse you know you know the blue
14:58rinse the old English ladies used to
14:59have blue rints it was in the Autumn so
15:01they were wearing their fur coats in a
15:03church Hall that didn't have loads of
15:04heating uh and then they were singing
15:07These Old charismatic songs that like
15:09today you want to hang yourself if you
15:11if someone puts that on you I'm not
15:13singing that you can't be serious so
15:15they were singing that and the woman who
15:17was playing the guitar dear Lord dear
15:20Lord it would be a woman like that
15:21playing the guitar in purgatory I tell
15:23you it will be you know so I mean you
15:26know so I'm used to like Jimmy pagee and
15:29and Jimmy Hendricks you know and Angus
15:31Young and all these guitarists right
15:33from these bands and then there's this
15:36you know and and it was like what this
15:39is going to lead to peace I could I just
15:41couldn't get it so anyway I said to I
15:43turned to one of the old ladies there
15:45and there were a few people who were in
15:46there like 40s and there was no young
15:48people there and uh and I said uh uh I
15:52said to her um what' you do to get this
15:55peace then and she turned to me and she
15:58was one of these people full of Jesus
16:01she's just full of Jesus these beautiful
16:03sparkly eyes and we know blue rinse and
16:05her and her fake furco and uh and she
16:08said to me you pray to receive the Holy
16:11Spirit dear and I thought all right then
16:14so here we go so I would come and I
16:15would sit there like that and they'd be
16:17doing their weird strange singing thing
16:21and all that and then stuff I didn't
16:23know what was going on and I would just
16:24be saying Come Holy Spirit Come Holy
16:26Spirit Come Holy Spirit for
16:29wake up Come Holy Spirit Come hly Spirit
16:32next week I'd be off doing wicked things
16:34with my girlfriend and all this over
16:36here and that over there and again you
16:38know all that rest of it and then I just
16:40had to go back you know and then come
16:42Holy Spirit Come Holy Spirit and and
16:43then some weeks later I remember where I
16:45was standing I was St just standing in
16:48the hall having a cup of tea afterwards
16:51still looking like this this was a nice
16:53middle class Parish right you know and I
16:55was like this in the middle of it and um
16:59and we were in the hall after the prayer
17:01meeting and I was just talking to this
17:02guy I don't even know what we're talking
17:03about it was nothing to do with religion
17:05and then suddenly I felt like you know
17:08when you when you have those air
17:09balloons and they start filling them up
17:11and they inflate from the ground up like
17:13that and then they become huge yes I had
17:16this feeling of a presence beginning to
17:19fill up the universe from behind me and
17:23then coming around like this and then it
17:25was everything suddenly the universe was
17:29full of a person and that's the only and
17:31I was standing there with a cup of tea
17:33and I and I just I did not bring that on
17:37you know it something just happened and
17:40then God was I had a personal experience
17:43of the universe being full of a person
17:45of a Divine person and then a few months
17:47later I I turned from Jesus just being
17:49this kind of good guy you know to being
17:52Jesus my Lord um powerful and yeah I
17:55mean you know I the the thing was with
17:57me with my family was they the deal was
18:00I could stay in the house and you know
18:02they they will forgive everything but I
18:03had to go to church on Sunday so I would
18:05sit at the back of church like this you
18:07know in in my Afghan and my and my
18:10t-shirt with the devil enthroned on the
18:12world t-shirt at mass or my ACDC Highway
18:16to Hell t-shirt you know or my Black
18:19Sabbath with my upside down cross you
18:21know whatever it was on my t-shirt and
18:22then I would go up to communion like
18:24that like the kids were like you know it
18:27was you know kids scaring kids and old
18:30people you know and uh and it was like
18:32but for me it was terrible I was 19 but
18:34it was what what a sacrilege I mean
18:36really a Sac it was like I was going out
18:38for a biscuit you know now I go to the
18:39back I sit at the back and I just go to
18:41sleep I just sit there go to sleep and I
18:43wake up and KN I had to go they sort of
18:44expected me to go to communion so I go
18:46get a biscuit come back sorry Jesus you
18:48know so it was like that um but that was
18:51the deal you see I had that was the one
18:53thing I I had to do that so for 45
18:55minutes or 50 minutes on a Sunday and
18:57then I could you know you know I didn't
18:59have to go out and live somewhere else
19:00so I could spend all my money on my
19:02records and drinking and my girlfriend
19:04and sin and all that so you know it was
19:07an economic reason I stayed at home yeah
19:09you it wasn't wasn't because I was like
19:10a good son so then I had this radical
19:13conversion then I went through all this
19:15Deliverance Ministry and uh and then my
19:19life changed I I sold all my possessions
19:21you know I I slept on the floor I was
19:24going to be the second of Frances you
19:25know and uh you know uh having gone from
19:28being you know the I wanted to be the
19:30the second Aussie Osborne now I want to
19:32be the second of Frances you know um and
19:36uh and I just people used to say it was
19:37like I was drunk for about three years I
19:40was just like drunk in God I bought a
19:42pair of sandals I was a real Christian
19:43now I bought a pair of sandals with big
19:44cross I thought that was being a real
19:46radical you know and uh and I was just I
19:49went and worked in the hospitals
19:50voluntary I tried to pray a lot but half
19:52of it I was asleep you know I was trying
19:54to pray Beyond I was I trying to love
19:56Beyond Where I Was you know I was you
19:58know it was my Zeal but you know anyway
20:00God sorry it's so you still with your
20:01girlfriend at the time and in the end in
20:04i was for a while change well I had this
20:05thing what happened was when I got
20:07converted I started when I started
20:09praying I started having this
20:11Poltergeist experience in my room and
20:13the pictures started falling off the
20:14walls things started falling over you
20:16know when I and whenever I prayed and I
20:19had this experience of demons coming and
20:21I couldn't see anything but holding me
20:23to the bed and this experience of total
20:26terror is the only way I can describe it
20:28and then I used to run down my house
20:30like a 4-year-old I'm drinking with
20:33bikers you know weapon carrying serious
20:36I take you out the pub put you up
20:37against some all their knives these were
20:38my buddies you know and then I was
20:40running like a four-year-old down the
20:43corridor to my parents' room in a state
20:47of ter utter Terror because something
20:50much more terrifying than Wicked people
20:53and that's evil spirits yes and I was
20:56absolutely ill equipped to deal with
20:58them so I run down there and my parents
21:00have put me on the bed there and then
21:01they pray over me I fall asleep this
21:02happens often they put a camp bed in
21:04their bedroom huh so I'd be down there
21:06sleeping down there they pray over me
21:07this is happening like this in the end
21:09they I got they said to
21:10me um they said to me so uh so uh I said
21:15why is this going on I'm trying to pray
21:17why is all this suddenly started and my
21:19mom said well the devil's fighting for
21:20you now before he had you in his hand
21:22now he's losing you now so he's up in
21:24his game and
21:26um I said well you know what do she said
21:29well listen I'm going to see a friend of
21:30mine called Jackie Jackie used to be uh
21:33a hippie in the 70s she was a total acid
21:36head so she she used to she used to run
21:39down the streets in our town shouting to
21:42everybody in the main High Street get
21:44down get down the UFOs are coming
21:46because she'd be having hallucinations
21:47of UFOs so she was absolutely went crazy
21:49on on acid all right so she she was a
21:51mother at 17 grandmother at 34 you know
21:54she lived a crazy hippie life right so
21:56she was even more mental than me than
21:58I'd been so she'd been converted through
22:01her sister praying the rosary for her
22:03all right so uh so when my mom said I'm
22:05going to see Jackie today should I
22:06should we pray about the situation for
22:09you and I thought oh Jackie is cool okay
22:11yeah you can pray with Jackie I thought
22:12that can't hurt
22:14anyway so they went and
22:16prayed and when they came back I
22:18remember meeting my my brother in the
22:20hall and he said to me uh he wasn't
22:21converted yet he's converted now and uh
22:24uh he said to me oh mom's back and I
22:26thought okay so I went into the sitting
22:29room and I remember standing inside the
22:31door and she my mom was sitting on the
22:33sofa over there and she said to me um
22:34well do you want to know what we think
22:36God said when me and Jackie prayed and I
22:39said uh all right then and she said well
22:42we got this reading um you double-minded
22:45men and then something about something
22:48else which I can't actually remember now
22:50anyway she said so they said these two
22:51things it was like someone had thrown a
22:53spear through my heart I knew I was
22:57totally nailed and the whole lot had to
22:59go it was finished it was over in that
23:02one sentence it was all over wow all
23:04over I knew it all had to go so I went
23:07upstairs so that day I was like like you
23:09know oh God like that then anyway in the
23:12evening I went upstairs I got my
23:13hundreds of albums when I got the dust
23:15spin from outside and I had no feelings
23:18I wasn't feeling Yoo I'm coming into
23:20Freedom not at all um I just knew I I
23:23was I was I won't tell you the word that
23:25went through my head when she said it
23:26and I knew I was nailed because it
23:28wasn't it wasn't polite it was
23:32like now I got to sort my life out oh no
23:36so I brought them all down I just in you
23:38know brought them all down to go up and
23:39down up and down up and down I bought
23:41them all and I took them out the covers
23:43they were more beautifully preserved
23:45than the vessels for Mass right these my
23:48albums you like you know all right I got
23:51them out smash one can you imagine how
23:53long this took hundreds of albums smash
23:55smash all my tapes remember the tapes
23:57you pull them all out like like this put
23:58them all in the bin then we had to get
24:00another bin you know all of that did all
24:01of that wow cleared out my room um then
24:05I went and I had to go and burn my
24:07clothes went and got my haircut that you
24:11know that was terrible terrible moment
24:12watching all of that falling on the
24:13floor in the barers I tell you I regret
24:15it now no I'm kidding um but so I I had
24:19this total
24:20turnaround uh and then I was this kind
24:22of Jesus freak you know about 22 23 no
24:26no no 19 oh this what happen happened
24:28straight away okay and then what
24:30happened was interestingly the
24:31Deliverance didn't come until a bit
24:33later it was like God had to build me up
24:35it's like if you're going to have major
24:36surgery you have you can't be sick so
24:39for some people um they go through like
24:42St Miriam of the desert for example you
24:43know she walked into the church where
24:45there was a relic of the real cross she
24:47had a to a total Deliverance she stood
24:50up and then walked across the road went
24:52into the desert and wasn't seen for
24:53years you know and became this
24:55unbelievable Mystic you know living in
24:57the desert now for for me what happened
24:59what happens with some people is you
25:01have to be built up in areas so that you
25:03have the spiritual and
25:05psychological strength to be able to
25:08face the process of the Deliverance
25:10right so then I went through this very
25:12very powerful and strong Deliverance at
25:15the hands of extremely gifted lay man um
25:19whose gift of discernment of spirits
25:20I've never met in any anybody I've never
25:22met that in a priest he his charism for
25:25the sermon of spirits was absolutely
25:27extraordinary
25:28um and uh you know and then I had this
25:31experience of like my heart being
25:32completely emptied now as a vessel I
25:36before I had you know just like this
25:37part of my heart was free the rest was
25:39full of mud if you can imagine yeah you
25:41know this other stuff and then all
25:43that's cleaned out now your capacity is
25:45like that now my life just went into the
25:48you know just completely everything was
25:50just fantastic wow know God changed me
25:52radic your parents who were there the
25:54whole time did they comment on your
25:56change did they was there oh yeah they
25:58were like running along listen to me I
25:59had to give up all my friends I had no
26:01friends my parents had to become my
26:02friends I didn't know any people in in
26:04the in this was through the charismatic
26:05movement yes yes you know I didn't have
26:08any there weren't any young people I was
26:09only1 wow so they had to become my best
26:12friends so now were you are working at
26:15this time um what were you doing most of
26:17that time I wasn't working at all I just
26:19you know dossing around sinning you know
26:21but then I went and got a job I tried
26:23God sort of sorted me out and then I
26:24went to went and back to UNI and I
26:27qualified did got a degree in Theology
26:30and art then I qualified as a teacher
26:32you know then I sort of you know then I
26:34started the after that I started the
26:35community wow before before marriage
26:38because you you did get married I got no
26:39I got married uh on the Feast of the
26:41Transfiguration in 1987 okay uh 1989 19
26:46198 um9 and we founded the community a
26:50year later all right with your then wife
26:52yeah yeah yeah tell us about uh that so
26:55um you did you meet your wife in the
26:57Comm in she was my convert she was she
27:00was my convert so she was like a good a
27:02good Catholic girl MH and uh as she was
27:04growing up you know there was all this
27:06thing there was no catechism then after
27:08the Cel okay that's there was no
27:09catechism that people were using and and
27:12a lot of the moral life was like kind of
27:13like guesswork really for a lot of
27:15people W and um I mean the church still
27:17had its teaching but but it was all a
27:19bit things were a bit up in the air you
27:21know and
27:23um uh you know thank God for John Paul
27:27II scism I thank God for that I
27:29recommend every Cathy if you haven't got
27:30one go and buy one yeah absolutely I
27:32don't have shares but go and buy one um
27:34and um uh so I met her I was working as
27:37a lay chaplain uh for a university and
27:41she was a student there and um uh they
27:45were having a sort of chaplaincy disco
27:47thing to try to get the students in you
27:50know and uh and then they had sort of
27:52cheat beer you know and all of that sort
27:54of thing to get all the students into
27:55the champy right and um and I was was
27:58working there was a l chapl with two
27:59priests and a nun okay and uh and she
28:03came along and uh uh and halfway through
28:08we went into the dining area there was a
28:11little kind of kitchen Diner area and we
28:12went and sting there was a bit quieter
28:14people wanted a a cup of coffee and a
28:16chat you know get out of the noise so we
28:18were sitting there and we were talking
28:20and uh uh and the whole thing of like
28:23sex before marriage came up I'm the
28:25chaplain I ought to have answers they
28:27think
28:28so um so they're
28:30talking and um uh and she's sitting
28:33there looking extremely gorgeous with a
28:35top that was much too low because like
28:39you know so I'm thinking they're trying
28:40to look at her face like I'm I'm 22 I'm
28:44trying to be holy I'm desperately trying
28:46to look at her face and and love her as
28:48a Christian like this in my head like my
28:51mate was sitting behind me was laughing
28:53at me cuz you see the Warfare I was in
28:55in the moment right so I was really
28:56trying to be holy and she was sitting
28:58there looking sort of ravishing you know
29:00and she's asking me about purity and sex
29:03you know as Catholics and she said to me
29:06she said oh no I sleep with my
29:07boyfriends and I said but you know the
29:09church teaches you can't do that and uh
29:13and she says really she said I have
29:16talked to so many priests and nuns and
29:18they said to me why went and asked them
29:21specifically and all of them said to me
29:24if you love each other it's okay priests
29:27and nuns
29:28so I said to her listen
29:31listen you have to stop this has this
29:34has to stop you know and uh I'm not
29:37recommending that you to speak to
29:38everybody in this situation in this
29:39direct way but it was right for her in
29:41that moment yeah and uh and she said I
29:44so I said to her listen why don't you
29:45just give it up for a month a month she
29:48said like give it up for a month that
29:50was Unthinkable you know and I said
29:52listen do this I gave her a card which
29:54was a prayer to the Holy Spirit I said
29:55and say deck of the Rosary every day all
29:57right and just do that every day and say
30:01to yourself I'm only giving this up for
30:03a month uh when I first met her she was
30:05going out with 16 boys at the same time
30:0816 during this
30:09conversation during this during this
30:12conver yeah during this conversation she
30:14was going out with a model a male model
30:17right okay so uh so i' said this to her
30:21and because her heart really did want
30:23Jesus she went back to her boyfriend and
30:25she said h no none of that going on
30:27anymore
30:28he didn't know what so like they tried
30:30to sustain the relationship a bit and
30:31then of course he was off wasn't
30:32interested so then we became very very
30:34good friends and then she I invited to
30:36the prayer meeting she had the
30:37experience of the baptism spirit and
30:39then within like three months she'd
30:42massively overtaken me in Holiness
30:44prayer virtue
30:46everything my goodness and then um a few
30:49years later we got married five years
30:51later we got married story yeah it was
30:53great yeah it was great now so you're
30:55now married uh uh remarried now because
30:58my first wife died yes few years ago uh
31:02her her death was an extraordinary
31:04experience um and uh I mean a very very
31:08extraordinary holy death she was a
31:10became she became an extremely holy
31:14person wow in the last especially in the
31:16last three years of her life an
31:17extremely holy person all all the
31:19community how long has it been now since
31:21it is so she's died two and a half years
31:23ago something like bit more well to get
31:25to you start a community together mhm
31:28can you tell us so what is this is it
31:30the same what what it's called today
31:32this so what year was that that was 1990
31:35okay yeah and the community what did you
31:37was this a calling in prayer you had
31:39what what were you how did you why why
31:42did you start this community what were
31:43you looking for I I went to some years
31:46before I felt called to community MH and
31:49I went to France as I heard they had big
31:52communities in France um so and I went
31:55and I visited the Emanuel Community oh
31:56yes the the Emanual Community is a very
31:58very Eucharistic Catholic Charismatic
32:01Community they have got 300 priests 10
32:04of them now are Bishops got 300
32:07consecrated sisters they have 12,000
32:09members in the community all right their
32:11founder is C his cause is going forward
32:13for canonization right okay so I I went
32:15to visit them but during the time that I
32:19was there they were having their Easter
32:21Retreat and only members could go so we
32:23had to go somewhere else so they
32:24recommended that we went and stayed with
32:25one of the monastic communities the new
32:27monastic community ities in France so we
32:30went and stayed with a monastic
32:31community in Paris and what had happened
32:33was we'd seen this charismatic
32:35missionary really effective missionary
32:38life in the Emanuel community and huge
32:41numbers of people getting converted like
32:43they would go out on the streets I
32:44remember doing Street evangelism on the
32:46Shan ala with them and people coming to
32:48Christ one after the you know really
32:50really effective amazing and um uh but
32:53then we had this experience with the
32:54monastic community and the monastics
32:57they were so full of light CU they were
32:59living on the mountain with the Lord and
33:01I looked at these two things I thought I
33:03can't choose I can't choose between
33:05these two things so I came back and I
33:07thought I need to found a community
33:10which is both has this life this
33:13contemplative mystical Dimension and
33:15this you know Apostolic charismatic
33:17Dimension and that's why in the end the
33:19community is called core Lum Christi
33:21heart and light to to kind of capture
33:24these two Dimensions the contemplative
33:26and the you know the missionary
33:28charismatic yes yes yeah it's I have to
33:31say that I've I've recently come come
33:34across a few
33:36um religious orders monks and nuns who
33:39are are trying to find the two now um
33:42whether they got a charism for
33:45evangelization or helping the poor or
33:47teaching um but there's this
33:49contemplative aspect I know uh just a
33:52handful I'm coming across more and more
33:53so it's interesting you've you've
33:55started one this is for a l this is a
33:56lay community we don't call it a Lake
33:58Community because we've got priests okay
34:01uh and we have our own priests who are
34:03released to us all right permanently to
34:05the community um and we're in four
34:08countries so we it's an the community is
34:12expanding uh and uh you know the numbers
34:15at the moment like in the four countries
34:17well yes not so big it's just the commun
34:20my calling uh for me I felt called to
34:25model the community and what I see with
34:26Jesus and his community community and so
34:29what we felt was that we were to call
34:31people into a really high life a really
34:35high life in the sense that you know
34:37everybody in the community has to pray
34:39an hour day everybody in the community
34:40has to pray part of the Divine Office if
34:42possible or daily mass every day okay
34:44everybody in the community has to give
34:46to the church give to the poor give to
34:48the community everybody in the community
34:50has to do service you know of some kind
34:52everybody in the community has to try to
34:53simplify their lifestyle you know you do
34:55you know what I mean everybody everybody
34:57has to be exercising some some of the
35:00spiritual gifts you know so the these
35:02are quite demanding realities um uh and
35:06so we're really interested in building a
35:08community of Highly highly committed
35:13discipled Believers W like some
35:15communities are called to grow very big
35:18and have a kind of a sort of shallower
35:21end some are called to be be very big
35:23and have only deep end you know but for
35:26us we we that we're called we know that
35:29the growth is coming and we're growing
35:30and growing in other community in other
35:32countries um living in together so we
35:35have two expressions okay we have the
35:36residential life where we buy and we own
35:39the old convents like we own we bought a
35:41place from the celian we bought a place
35:42another conent somebody else got another
35:45convert from some sisters and we're just
35:46about buy another building in another
35:48country um and we these are centers out
35:51of which the mission flows and the
35:53families live there in their own
35:55Apartments every family has its own
35:56apartment the priest have their own kind
35:58of area y um if we got consecrated got
36:01you know the vision for that having
36:03their own area uh and then there's a
36:05shared Chapel shared kitchens shared
36:08living room you know another living
36:09community living room so on areas like
36:11that and then an area where we have like
36:13you know we might have depending on the
36:15mission Community rooms which we use for
36:17certain missions and then we together
36:19yeah yeah we pray together yeah we pray
36:20together every day we have at least one
36:22liturgy together every day we sing part
36:25the Psalms at lunch and we sing to Mary
36:27lunchtime uh we have um this practice of
36:31the Jesus prayer uh in which we're
36:33trying to pray trying to pray
36:34ceaselessly can you just just for those
36:36who don't know what is it is this a
36:38famous pray yeah the the Jesus prayer
36:40Pope Francis recently recommended the
36:42Jesus prayer to all Catholics okay Jesus
36:44prayer is a very very ancient way of
36:48praying ceaselessly it's based on the
36:51experience of the of the desert fathers
36:54yes uh uh in which they choose a very
36:56very short prayer which repeat often um
36:59and uh uh and in the uh in eastern
37:04Christianity the Jesus prayer has become
37:06a kind of like a golden way you know uh
37:10um and in the west it's gaining a lot of
37:12ground because people are beginning to
37:14find it extremely helpful and you said
37:17there was a a standard prayer that you
37:19would there's variations of it but Lord
37:21Jesus have Lord Jesus Christ have mercy
37:23on me or Lord Jesus have mercy on us
37:25Lord Jesus Christ have mercy on us Lord
37:27Jesus Christ son the Living God Have
37:28Mercy Me sinner you know so there are
37:30variants you know it's it's not you can
37:32choose and now there's certain amount of
37:34be beads numbers don't matter you should
37:37generally speaking you they say you
37:38shouldn't count the point is not
37:39counting the point is just to live in
37:42the presence yeah beautiful to to pray
37:43from the heart and live in the presence
37:46and the catechism Catholic Church says
37:48that the life of prayer is the life of
37:51the renewed
37:52heart and your heart is a tabernacle of
37:56the presence of God
37:58it is a tabernacle we never open the
37:59door though almost never true you know I
38:02mean most of my experiences of God have
38:05happened in the mass we are a highly
38:08Eucharistic Community right we have
38:09Eucharistic adoration every day at you
38:11know every day um but um but when I'm
38:16not in Eucharistic adoration how am I
38:18doing my
38:19adoration how are you living your
38:21adoration when you're
38:23driving to the presence of the Lord in
38:25the heart yeah beautiful now we will
38:27come make our home in you and the
38:29presence of Christ in you is not like a
38:32not really the presence of Christ it is
38:35truly the presence of
38:38Christ something you you know he's there
38:41you feel he's there whether you feel it
38:42or not if you're baptized he's there and
38:44Theresa of AA says that the Christian
38:47Soul Is So Glorious that if we didn't
38:49wor if we didn't believe in God we would
38:51fall down and worship it if we could see
38:53it
38:54uncovered That Glory is in every
38:56Christian the whole of the Christian
38:58life is a journey into transparency yeah
39:01wow you know so you can commune with the
39:03presence of Christ in your heart in your
39:07heart at any moment and the Jesus prayer
39:08is a means to that this is why we
39:10treasured this yeah because it brought
39:13us so much joy you think Lord Jesus have
39:15mercy well that's not very joyful the
39:17fruits for us have been tears then Joy
39:21yeah and the joy that the the Eastern
39:24Christians talk about this prayer as a
39:25prayer of of Joyful sorrow so in the
39:28sense sorrow in the sense of knowing my
39:30sins but joyful in the in the knowledge
39:34that Grace is infinitely greater than my
39:36sins W and that God's vision for me is
39:39not just to be saved but to be deified
39:43aset say yes we are called the catechism
39:45says we are called to be God's small G
39:48God's small G you know this is the this
39:52is the calling of a Christian I love it
39:55I love the qu and I was forget the saint
39:58where God becomes man so that man can
40:00become like God um yeah it's so true so
40:03that man can become God small Dre Union
40:06actually yeah wow yeah um so so 1990
40:12where we fast forward how long did it
40:14take and then you we're excited about
40:16this book you you've pieced together
40:17you've been giving seminars talks but
40:20you also have a gift and well you've
40:23untapped the tapped into the gift of the
40:26Holy Spirit one of them is healing
40:27another one is prophecy can we touch on
40:29that and how did you discover that and
40:32was it something that came natural was
40:33it something you asked for can you tell
40:34us a bit about what came first can we
40:37TCH so so if you're moving in the in the
40:39kind of charismatic circles these things
40:41are kind of part an experience of that
40:45there's a lot of people who have those
40:46gifts and um many people might have
40:49heard of sister Bri McKenna who I've
40:51worked with you know she's a wonderful
40:53woman as great gift of healing and a
40:54great gift of Prophecy and reading of
40:55hearts and there are many others you
40:57know lay men and Priests you know also
41:00um and lay women um and what happened
41:03was I started seeing books about this in
41:06catholic books about this so I started
41:07reading them uh and that kind of like
41:09wet my appetite and I started thinking I
41:12was looking reading that of course you
41:13know after my experienced the baptism
41:14spirit I kind of fell in love with
41:16reading the Bible so I was reading the
41:17Bible more I was reading the book of
41:18Acts and I was thinking you know what is
41:20this and then I read of the prayer of of
41:23Pope John the 23rd who's now canonized
41:26you know Lord renew your wonders in this
41:28our day wonders like that in Latin
41:30that's Miracles renew your miracles in
41:32this our day as by a new Pentecost so I
41:34thought okay so this is the vision of
41:36the church for now you know this is not
41:38just you know the vision of this little
41:39kind of group of this charismatic lot
41:41over here the pope agrees that this is
41:43the vision for the church you know and
41:44Paul I 6 you know uh
41:48um you know prayed that these things
41:52would be multiplied in the life of the
41:54church with abundance these charisms
41:57will be multiplied with abundance to
41:59make the church beautiful incredible are
42:02his words you know to the world you know
42:04and John Paul II you know in 1998 you
42:07know exalts the the movements of the
42:11church to be open and doile to the gifts
42:13of the Spirit to accept the charisms you
42:17know and so this is the mind you know of
42:19the popes you know in these years and
42:21we've got one Saint Pope after another
42:23we're living in a very special time you
42:25know many times in history of the church
42:27wasn't a run of saints that were in the
42:29papacy all right so you know we've had a
42:31very very privileged period uh to live
42:34through in which our popes have been
42:37very very prophetic um and very very
42:41holy um and so this movement it was
42:44common so I was I was just reading a lot
42:45of those books and then I started
42:46praying about it um and then I started
42:49having experience of uh moving and
42:53experiencing these things among other
42:55Christians in other denominations
42:58uh and that was a very very exper very
43:00interesting for me because I had been
43:02you know converted into a very Catholic
43:04context uh and you know I I remember at
43:08the beginning thinking no I'm not
43:09getting involved in any of those
43:10Protestants like wait what you know no
43:12I'm just I'm a Catholic you know I'm
43:14very Eucharistic you know I'm you know I
43:16love the Saints you know all of that you
43:17know I wasn't going there what's up but
43:19anyway what happened was God kind of
43:20really opened my heart and um and I
43:23started meeting people who were
43:24profoundly holy people in in the other
43:27churches um and who God was using with
43:30great power and were not like didn't
43:33agree with all our Catholic Doctrine but
43:35we're not like anti-
43:36Catholic and um and so with their their
43:40some I read some of their books I
43:42learned some things from them I went to
43:43different conferences of Catholics
43:44involved in healing some Protestants
43:47some Catholics involved in the prophetic
43:48gifts some Protestants um but my
43:51spiritual father was a carite theologian
43:54one of the official translators of the
43:56second B
43:57Council documents into English uh and he
44:01was so he's a carite theologian right
44:04and in fact he wrote the new
44:06constitutions for the carites after the
44:08council so he was a very learned man he
44:10wrote it with two other men but the two
44:12other men say that most the it was Chris
44:14WR okay so he a
44:16profoundly deeply Catholic Orthodox
44:21Catholic man uh and I'm deeply in his
44:24debt because he plugged me into the
44:27great tradition of the church you know
44:29that was very very
44:31important um and uh and so I was you
44:35know running everything through him you
44:36know I was obeying him you know I was
44:38bringing things you know and you know
44:40some of these things you know I say to
44:41people you know well some of the things
44:43we don't agree with you know eat the
44:44meat and spit out the bones you know uh
44:47you know take what's of the Lord you you
44:49can take the Lord you don't have to take
44:50the whole package that's true isn't it
44:52yeah it is and and one of the things
44:54that we have to be we have to be humble
44:56that the Catholic church does not have a
44:59monopoly on the Holy
45:00Spirit it does not have a monopoly on
45:02the Holy Spirit you know if we read the
45:05documents of the church on you know aism
45:07we recognize their baptisms what does
45:10that mean that means god recognizes
45:12their baptisms yeah that's that was
45:14quite a difficult thing for many in the
45:16church to accept when the church began
45:17to say that because yeah if they follow
45:19that formula the trinitarian formula
45:21father Son and Holy Spirit you are
45:22baptized exactly yeah yeah and if you do
45:24become a Catholic you have to
45:27exact so then you have to recognize what
45:29are the implications of that that means
45:31the spirit of God is is willing to come
45:34into the life and the Heart of somebody
45:36else that means the spirit of God will
45:38be working in the life and the Heart of
45:39other people in other denominations uh
45:41and so we were able to recognize the
45:43beautiful things he was doing in the
45:45other denominations and in fact what's
45:47happening is those people are living a
45:49Catholic reality just in another church
45:51are you with me if they're being
45:53faithful to their personal charisms this
45:55is the teaching of the Catholic Church
45:57they're just doing it in their church so
45:59I lose Nothing by looking at that
46:01example I'm not looking at something un
46:03Catholic I'm looking at something
46:05Catholic that's being lived in another
46:07church does that make sense yeah you
46:09know it's like if you if you know your
46:11Bible well that's Catholics should know
46:12their Bible Well many Protestants know
46:14their Bible better than Catholics do
46:15yeah all right so that's a Catholic
46:17value to know your Bible Well you know
46:19so we have to be humble you know we have
46:21to be humble about what God is doing in
46:23the other churches and it's the same
46:24with the Eastern churches you know that
46:26you know the excommunications between
46:28Rome and Constantinople have been an
46:31olded now wow you know they've been an
46:34olded Paul I 6 and a aorus the first and
46:37all those and you know and the the
46:39problem that we had on christology with
46:41the cops shinuda the first I think it
46:44was shinuda the first who was the Coptic
46:46Pope he wrote a document on christology
46:49sent it to Constantinople sent it to
46:51Rome and Rome and Constantinople now are
46:53in a we have an agreed statement on
46:56christology with the cops wow that was
46:59the reason for the very first split a
47:01misund I would say a misunderstanding of
47:04the cops position honestly political
47:06maneuvering was going a lot of political
47:08maneuvering was going on there um but
47:11now this has been after n00 more than
47:14nine how many hundreds of years is that
47:16you know 900 years with the with the
47:18Orthodox this has been this has been an
47:21olded with Constantinople um and I
47:24remember going I was speaking at the
47:25Eucharistic Congress in Hungary
47:27I was one of the I had the privilege of
47:28being one of the speakers there and The
47:30ecumenical patriarch was there you know
47:33I remember having time with him talking
47:34to him wow you know and and the pope was
47:37there as well you know so so these
47:40things are what God is doing to to
47:44reestablish a communion between the
47:47people of God is very very very deep is
47:51very very deep and we need to walk with
47:55the spirit in the heart of the church
47:58over these matters yeah Wes so it's very
48:01beautiful so so I learned many things
48:02and and and grew because of input from
48:05many churches and you um for in the
48:07community you were the founder of the
48:10community leader uh does that did you
48:12have to just and then you have did you
48:15have children um how many children I've
48:19got two children two children yeah and
48:21then how did you I guess survive um as a
48:24as a father husband in the community
48:28like this uh were you going out giving
48:30seminars in this you know through the
48:32'90s and 2000s how tell us a bit about I
48:35guess practically as well just so so
48:37what happened was um we started giving
48:39these uh these teachings and trainings
48:41and then the gift of healing exploded we
48:44we also had this experience of speaking
48:45in languages that we never learned we
48:47were praying in tongues and then people
48:48in the group because we were at
48:49University you know there was a lot of
48:50linguists in the group and they would
48:52say you were speaking in Spanish you I
48:54Never Been to Spain nothing I didn't
48:56know you you know happened to me you
48:57were speaking in this you were speaking
48:58in that so we had literally had an
49:00experience like Pentecost happening I
49:02thought you were speaking Aramaic
49:04earlier I just got a good
49:06accent and uh um uh and then we had this
49:11experience where we were started praying
49:12for healing of people getting healed um
49:15what what sort of thing can you give us
49:16a for those who have never seen this
49:18before what were you seeing what what
49:20are we talking well so we've seen
49:22everything now I mean everything you can
49:25imagine really so so
49:27uh blind eyes from birth from birth from
49:31birth death from birth before your very
49:35eyes they see for the first time they
49:38hear for the first time dumb from birth
49:40lame from birth
49:43um uh like there's I mean there's a
49:46there's a man in this community in this
49:48room we came here 15 years ago when we
49:50were here 15 years ago he came he had
49:53cancer and he had a big
49:57Tuma in his South he was booked to see
50:00the plastic surgeon on the Tuesday we
50:02did the healing service on the Saturday
50:04or the Sunday and the way God had led me
50:06was I just command the bodies to be
50:08healed over the crowd I ask the people
50:10next to them put your hands on the
50:11people the Christians the Catholics put
50:13your hands on the people you'll be the
50:15Hands of Christ I'll will be the voice
50:16of Christ by my baptism and faith and I
50:20will I just command the bodies to be
50:22healed so I said to them to do that he
50:25showed my wife my wife and my two kids
50:27well my kids were tiny then um and they
50:29stood and they put their hands on him
50:30and he said look I had this cancer his
50:32doctor was in the room was in the room
50:34came and spoke to me afterwards um uh
50:36showed them the big cancerous tumor in
50:38his mouth uh they put their hands on I
50:40commanded the cancers to disappear after
50:43the prayer he went like that there's
50:44nothing there he went to the to the
50:46plastic surgeon on the CH the plastic
50:47surgeon had told him we're going to have
50:49to cut the whole of your chin out here
50:51like that you lose your whole bottom lit
50:53the whole thing when it's the plastic
50:54surger on tues he canceled everything
50:56he's still here today alive no cancer he
50:58was at the conference this weekend
50:59amazing you know so we we've seen tumors
51:02as big as your head disappear in 5
51:03minutes as hard as that as hard as that
51:07but see why is that difficult for go why
51:08is that more difficult for God than
51:10healing a headache that's right
51:12ridiculous he's he's creating stars like
51:15a tumor size you what's that to God
51:18nothing to God do you think it's got
51:20something to do with is it and you maybe
51:22have asked yourself uh your your
51:24connection to God or your faith in God
51:27is it our confidence that God's going to
51:30deliver is it when you first saw your F
51:33first person to heal were you shocked or
51:35was it was it like first person he was
51:37probably somebody with a sore knee you
51:39know I mean it start it started low then
51:42it kind of went up like this you know
51:44does it always
51:45happen are people always healed yeah
51:47Every Time You Prayed you say or is it
51:49sort of you know sometimes yeah listen I
51:52got
51:54allergies can't hear myself you know no
51:58my wife died of a brain hemorrhage
52:00several years ago but she had an
52:02appointment with God okay that was
52:04appointment um to say it so you know our
52:08our experience is we
52:10pray and we try to follow God the best
52:13that we can and our assumption is the
52:17Assumption of the early church that God
52:21wants to heal many many many people many
52:25more people than we had thought
52:27uh and
52:29so uh if we're in a room of a thousand
52:34people we would never see almost never
52:38see less than 100 healings instantaneous
52:40healings almost never when we were in
52:43Argentina 93% of the sick in the room
52:47were healed 93% 93% of the sick I told
52:50you I I have sins but I don't
52:52realize okay and the God is do in the
52:57Bible it says that he they healed them
52:59all that happened to Paul and Peter yeah
53:02you know that's right you know and Peter
53:04says something very Peter says something
53:06very important after he heals the man
53:08lame you know outside the temple he says
53:11it is not by our own
53:14Holiness but by faith in the name of
53:18Jesus Christ so what we do is we have
53:20fed our faith we read a lot about the
53:24healings that God is doing we fill up
53:26our minds with a vision for healing I
53:29have this phrase we have to cram out the
53:31doubt so before a service I even read my
53:34own book I even read my own stories and
53:36I read other people's stories and people
53:38who've seen more than I've seen you know
53:41so so far I give you an interesting
53:44example so I was I've seen a lot of
53:45blind eyes healed you know in different
53:47countries especially in the developing
53:49world but in England I wasn't seeing so
53:51many blind eyes healed so I went to
53:54prayer and God led me said right here's
53:57a book has got a lot of stories of
53:59miracles in I want you to highlight all
54:01the healings of blindness in this book
54:05it wasn't my book somebody else's
54:07book um and uh I want you to read
54:10through those for 10 minutes every night
54:12and then I want you to repent for your
54:14lack of faith for the healing of the
54:15Blind and cry out to me for Faith for
54:17the healing of the blind so I did that
54:19for two weeks the next service a woman
54:22came her in England her eye was as blind
54:24as that it opened like that it was just
54:26perfect was the other eye
54:28instantaneously the next event exactly
54:31the same somebody had another person had
54:33absolutely Blind Eye we commanded the IC
54:36open like that the next event nobody was
54:38healed the following event another Blind
54:40Eye was healed I saw more people healed
54:43in two months in blindness than I had
54:45seen in 10 years before in England wow
54:49in England I love the line you just said
54:52there um repent of my lack of faith yeah
54:56the catechism says beg the Lord this is
54:58a direct quote beg the Lord to increase
55:01your faith and there's a difference
55:03between so I ask people a question when
55:05we're doing our some of our training
55:07conferences how many of you believe that
55:10Miracles are happening today in the
55:11church all the hands go up yeah and then
55:13I say keep your hand up if you're
55:15performing them all but a tiny handful
55:18of the hands go down and the problem is
55:21we think that the intellectual faith we
55:25have like the faith that agrees that it
55:27can happen is the same as the faith to
55:30make it
55:32happen it's not the same thing one is
55:34intellectual Ascent it's what we call
55:36credal Faith okay I agree that this is
55:41this is true in the church you know or
55:43this can happen yes the gift of
55:47faith faith causes things to happen and
55:51Jesus calls people only have faith do
55:55not doubt have faith that means exercise
55:59the expectation that something is going
56:01to happen are you with me love it and
56:04Faith grows out of practice if you're
56:07literally faithful with little if you're
56:10full of Faith with little you'll be
56:12trusted with more you then can learn to
56:15be faithful full of Faith with much and
56:18it's gone up like that for us over the
56:20years people are healed by my shadow now
56:24we have that on film people with the
56:26crutches I was in in Slovakia I mean
56:29that just sounds ridiculously arrogant
56:31doesn't it like who the hell are you to
56:32say thing like that no I'm just a
56:34Christian I'm a Christian same as you
56:37same as you who Shadow what shadow is
56:39healing people Dam stain Shadow no the
56:42shadow of Christ who dwells in me David
56:44say he's healing no
56:46one it's the shadow of God's presence
56:49this is a temple when this Temple goes
56:51past people God can do as he pleases
56:54amen as he pleases you know what you
56:56don't know what your Shadow is doing
56:57when you're at work when you're walking
56:59down the street you don't know what your
57:00Christian Shadow is doing you don't know
57:02how many demons are backing away from
57:04you because of who you carry you don't
57:07know Christians don't know who they are
57:09Christians do not know who they are so I
57:10was in in Slovakia and we just run a
57:13prophetic training conference and uh and
57:16I said to the guys okay we got a day off
57:18listen let's go out from me just relax
57:20we've got a healing signs and wers
57:21conference for 900 people the next two
57:23days let's just go and chill so he went
57:25out and we um uh uh we ran out for a
57:29meal and I hadn't drank coffee for about
57:3130 years because my wife never drank
57:33coffee um but from England it's a tea
57:35culture right well I never drank tea
57:36either oh really yeah cuz she never
57:38drank tea she never drank tea she never
57:40drank tea or coffee so I just kind of
57:41gave it up I got fed up with making a
57:43pot of tea for myself you know I just
57:44fed up with it so um so but then after
57:47she died I started having a cup of
57:48coffee here and a cup of tea there
57:50anyway when we were out um I said okay
57:52yeah I'd like a decaf he obviously
57:54didn't understand and he bought me a
57:55caffe coffee I have no resistance
57:58caffeine at all right so then we went to
58:00bed so I'm lying in bed and I'm sharing
58:02the room with my daughter Miriam who's
58:04my PA who came with me she also has a
58:06great gift of Miracles and prophecy
58:07herself my son is doing his PhD on
58:10charisms he's nearly finished um and uh
58:14uh he's also used all lots of our young
58:16people are used in Miracles I mean real
58:18Mir your children are are active in the
58:19ministry oh yeah yeah they're both in
58:21the community beautiful beautiful
58:22they're both y because when we were
58:24growing up your question that you asked
58:25me earlier
58:26when we were growing
58:28up I had this I I remember reading about
58:32the mother of John of the Cross and John
58:34on the cross was very very devout he
58:35began to slightly slip when he was a
58:37child from his devotedness to the Lord
58:40and his mother had lost her husband he
58:42died and so she decided that she will be
58:45his best friend when I read that I
58:48thought that's it I'm going to be the
58:50best friend of my children so every
58:52single day of their lives I spent one
58:55hour with one of them and one hour with
58:57the other of them doing what they wanted
58:59to do so my son wants to play Xbox I had
59:02I'm dlex my with my thumbs I'm kind of
59:04dyslexic you know with my thumbs that
59:07was terrible I used to play him he used
59:08to beat me like 27 minus 9 cuz I killed
59:11myself 10 times do you know what I mean
59:13you know it was like that or nine times
59:14you know so I had to learn in love to
59:17play those games I'm not talking about
59:18horrible games which are very brutally
59:20violent no no but other games right um
59:23and uh with my daughter like she wanted
59:25to play she wanted play dollies I had to
59:28pray and pray and pray that I would love
59:29playing Barbie or you know some other
59:32little thing with dollies or doing
59:34makeup often on my face you know can you
59:36imagine I'm a normal bloke right you
59:39know so but now my children they think I
59:41walk on water because I poured love I
59:44mean they know my sins you know right
59:46but I poured love into them and they
59:48knew that I would they knew for sure
59:52that I would rather be playing rough and
59:54tumble with them or doing something with
59:57them or watching a movie with them you
59:59know than healing thousands of people in
1:00:02a football stadium somewhere in the
1:00:03world they knew that for sure so when
1:00:06you're loved like that yeah where do you
1:00:09want to go where you going to get more
1:00:11love than that so it was just obvious to
1:00:14them like we want to go in the footsteps
1:00:16of our parents because we had never had
1:00:19more joy and happiness than when we were
1:00:21with our parents so this is a big thing
1:00:24in our community we've got a big culture
1:00:26that and the dads have to do that they
1:00:28have to spend an hour a day with one of
1:00:29their kids you know to input to their
1:00:31children doing not just like doing their
1:00:33homework to improve them as human beings
1:00:35having time with them doing what they
1:00:37want to do and our retention rate of our
1:00:40kids in the faith is
1:00:4299% our kids are not just going to
1:00:45church we only have one child out of all
1:00:48the children of the community who isn't
1:00:50baptized in the Holy Spirit wow only one
1:00:53that's an unbelievable rate of retention
1:00:56wow you know they're not just going to
1:00:57mass on Sunday they're on fire in their
1:01:00faith that's powerful so for us this is
1:01:03the greatest miracle in the community
1:01:04this is greater than healing the blind
1:01:06and the deaf you know in this generation
1:01:08yeah especially out with the families
1:01:10yeah exactly so here here am I in in
1:01:12Australia who Am my team are my daughter
1:01:14and her husband and my
1:01:17wife this is this is the family this is
1:01:20the team who've come this time it's not
1:01:21always like that some to go with three
1:01:22guys you know but you know so these
1:01:25things have been very very very
1:01:26important for us your first calling is
1:01:29to your vocation your first mission is
1:01:32to your wife and your children yes are
1:01:34you with me if you get that
1:01:36wrong I get people coming up to me
1:01:38leaders coming up to me all around the
1:01:39world saying how can I share in your and
1:01:41not how can I have this anointing for
1:01:42miracles that you have how can I
1:01:44prophesy how can I know the future like
1:01:46you do how can I do this how can I do
1:01:48that how can I have this life of prayer
1:01:50that you have you know all of this how
1:01:51can we have a community that has so much
1:01:53love like your community and I say put
1:01:56first the vocation the church says to
1:01:57you is your first vocation yes love God
1:02:00first and love your wife and your
1:02:02children if you get that right you don't
1:02:05need to fast much more you don't need to
1:02:07pray for hours and hours and hours
1:02:09because you're right in front of God so
1:02:11when you come in front of God In Prayer
1:02:13you're right in front of God are you
1:02:15with me yeah there and there aren't
1:02:17Idols cluttering up your relationship
1:02:20with God the idol of the ministry yeah
1:02:23you with me inter those been our secret
1:02:24really so good and it Mak you happy
1:02:26because like not ticking off how many
1:02:28blind people are being healed doesn't
1:02:29give you Joy love gives you Joy Joy is
1:02:33the daughter of love and you learn love
1:02:36in your life vocation in your marriage
1:02:38and as a father and as so on in this
1:02:41situ yeah I don't want I don't want to
1:02:42get S you you were finishing off a story
1:02:45where you overseas oh yeah I was okay so
1:02:48I I was so I want to say that this thing
1:02:51about the shadow thing in the context of
1:02:53a very grounded life that we live
1:02:56we're living a very grounded life as
1:02:59dads and husbands and wives and mothers
1:03:02you know do you know what I mean this is
1:03:04very real love life of the family like
1:03:08when we got married we had no money but
1:03:11we went out we bought very expensive uh
1:03:14bed clothes because we said these are
1:03:16our vestments as married
1:03:18people and we didn't know then that the
1:03:20church had this tradition the early
1:03:22church had this tradition of three
1:03:23altars the altar of sacrifice of the
1:03:25mass the altar of The Family Table of
1:03:27fellowship and the altar of the wedding
1:03:29bed these are three altars in the
1:03:31tradition of the church we didn't know
1:03:32that but the Holy Spirit was teaching us
1:03:34you know so anyway I was in back to the
1:03:37sorry rewind so I was in um um uh where
1:03:42was I Slovakia yes and I'd had this cup
1:03:44of coffee I was sharing the room the
1:03:46room with my daughter um uh uh and uh um
1:03:51we were there with a Slovakian priest
1:03:53who's member of our community and one or
1:03:55two other members of the commune younger
1:03:57members of the commune and uh and so I
1:04:01got into bed and night night Miriam you
1:04:02know God bless you know you know go to
1:04:05sleep and tried to go to sleep couldn't
1:04:06go to sleep couldn't go to sleep think I
1:04:08can't go to sleep it's that blinking
1:04:10coffee you know so I'm lying down
1:04:12desperately trying to go say I know I've
1:04:14got a huge conference 900 people for two
1:04:16days the next two days right and and I'm
1:04:18I'm thinking this is not sensible I'm
1:04:21not going to be able to you know teach
1:04:23well and Minister if I'm exhausted right
1:04:26and I'm saying God give me sleep you
1:04:27know nothing anyway know and after an
1:04:29hour I'm still lying there like this you
1:04:30know in the end I thought right I gonna
1:04:33pray so I started praying in
1:04:36tones I didn't feel anything feel
1:04:38spiritual nothing praying in
1:04:40Tong thought I thought it be like the
1:04:42rosary you know you pray the Rosary in
1:04:43bed sometimes it just helps you to sleep
1:04:45so I just thought maybe just help me I
1:04:47pray maybe God will give me some sleep
1:04:49so I wasn't being very spiritual I was
1:04:52just praying in tongues
1:04:56half an hour
1:04:58later still like
1:05:00this
1:05:02later two hours
1:05:04later after two hours I thought okay
1:05:06right I have to be serious now so I got
1:05:08out and I knelt on the bed I'm not going
1:05:10to sleep now I just have to pray pray so
1:05:12I not on the bed and I'm
1:05:14praying and I had a Grace to pray in
1:05:16tongues and I pray in Tong for four
1:05:18hours wow I don't usually pray t for
1:05:20hours that's that's like if to get past
1:05:22an hour praying thanks to me that's hard
1:05:23work right and um
1:05:26and then at 10 to 5: suddenly from
1:05:30nowhere God said to me tomorrow I'm
1:05:33going to heal people through your Shadow
1:05:35I had not been reading that text reading
1:05:38about people who were doing that I had
1:05:40not been praying for that nothing
1:05:42completely out of left field right and
1:05:46as soon as the words were said I knew it
1:05:49would happen not thought knew it would
1:05:52happen so it was an impartation of Faith
1:05:54through the word of God God came into me
1:05:57and I knew and I turned to Miriam I said
1:05:59Miriam Miriam she was like all through
1:06:02all of this I said what's storing but
1:06:04she was asleep and I said Mam Mam God's
1:06:06just spoken to me he said what did he
1:06:09say and I said God just told me that
1:06:11he's going to heal people through my
1:06:12shadow tomorrow and she said something
1:06:14like I was expecting to go wow dad oh
1:06:17incredible show wow glory to God she
1:06:20said half asleep she said well good luck
1:06:22with that then I went back to sleep and
1:06:25just thought
1:06:27what anyway so the next day we were we
1:06:30were went to breakfast I told the team
1:06:31this is what God said to me you're going
1:06:33to do this and the priest said to me
1:06:34he's a great guy priest he said to me he
1:06:37said uh Daman do do you think this is
1:06:39really is this really wise you're like
1:06:41you've got a very good reputation in
1:06:43Slovakia you know look what if nothing
1:06:45happens you're just going to look this
1:06:46will be a disaster you'll be finished
1:06:48the community can't do anything in the
1:06:49country anymore I said sorry I have to
1:06:51do this this is impossible for me not to
1:06:52do this so like he was really really
1:06:54praying for me the team were praying
1:06:56anyway so I just didn't I said it to the
1:06:58to the congregation I said to them
1:06:59listen I never done this before God told
1:07:01me last night this is what happened so
1:07:03I'm going to uh pray we're all going to
1:07:06worship God I will worship God we're not
1:07:07going to pray for healing and I'm just
1:07:09going to walk around and my and let God
1:07:12do what he wants to do in my shadow so I
1:07:14just walked around for three minutes
1:07:16came out the front I said right who's
1:07:17healed and 32 people came out Lin along
1:07:20the front some of them with the
1:07:21conditions I haded for years and years
1:07:22and I interviewed all of them and they
1:07:24were all healed and um and some of them
1:07:27said to me when you went past I felt
1:07:30fire go through my whole body and I was
1:07:31healed other people said I felt an
1:07:34explosion going off my body and I was
1:07:35healed other people I felt this Cool
1:07:38Breeze go over my body and I was healed
1:07:40other people said I didn't feel anything
1:07:42but when I moved my body I found it was
1:07:45better so since then that's happened
1:07:47over and over and over many times um and
1:07:50the reason is I think is that God is
1:07:52trying to get across I've never seen
1:07:55that I never seen anybody else doing
1:07:56that um God is trying to get across that
1:08:00we really do live in the same
1:08:03dispensation as the book of Acts yeah
1:08:05you know and sin is growing out there
1:08:10advancing out there but the Bible says
1:08:13where sin is Grace abounds what where
1:08:17sin abounds Grace abounds all the more
1:08:18all the more all the more yes all the
1:08:20more so God is doing things now with
1:08:24sinners
1:08:26because of the need yeah are you with me
1:08:29and people when they see that they just
1:08:31say oh my gosh Jesus alive the man did
1:08:34nothing walked around or usually what I
1:08:37do now is I kneel on the front of the
1:08:38stage and I say right people with their
1:08:40crotches or hearing aids walk through
1:08:42and many of them come out and they heal
1:08:43the other side like what is that how
1:08:45long does it take to walk past the man
1:08:47third quarter of a second and they
1:08:49healed and I'm doing nothing I'm not
1:08:51praying for healing I'm just worshiping
1:08:53Jesus this is strengthens your own
1:08:55personal faith glory to God Amen May
1:08:59there be millions of Catholics around
1:09:01the world who are healing people through
1:09:02their Shadow I love it I could go all
1:09:05day with you but I know we got to wrap
1:09:06up but before we wrap up I want to talk
1:09:08about the book um when did you write
1:09:10this book and why did you write this
1:09:11book and what is what can people expect
1:09:13okay when so so I wrote this book
1:09:16because um I I knew that there's a
1:09:21incredible tradition in the Catholic
1:09:23church that lots of people don't know
1:09:27there's a lot of misinformation and also
1:09:29there's been some poor practice MH you
1:09:32know when the renewal was being born you
1:09:35know mistakes were made you know you
1:09:38know and people were put off by things
1:09:40yeah you know and people things have
1:09:42been very poorly explained we have a
1:09:44fantastic tradition this book is full of
1:09:48quotes of the
1:09:50Saints uh the fathers Catholic
1:09:53theology popes councils you know that
1:09:57have spoken on these things the
1:09:58scriptures you know and it's and not
1:10:01only examples from the Catholic church
1:10:03but from the Orthodox Church Pentecostal
1:10:05brothers and sisters who God has used in
1:10:06power um uh and you know there's the
1:10:12what people needed was accessible water
1:10:14type theology yeah that was re
1:10:18reachable and
1:10:20Orthodox yes that was placing itself in
1:10:23the center of the tradition of the the
1:10:25church okay so that's what I did I wrote
1:10:27that but the book is not heavy it's full
1:10:31of stories from our own experience
1:10:32because it's not just in healing you
1:10:34know it's not just in healing it's also
1:10:36in Deliverance it's also in Prophecy
1:10:38it's also in this grace to see the
1:10:40future even future events in society to
1:10:43see things about political sit
1:10:45situations God led me to give a prophecy
1:10:47to one of the Prime Ministers of Europe
1:10:49you know open the door said you're going
1:10:51to prophesy to him tomorrow how the heck
1:10:53is that going to happen how can I just
1:10:54suddenly get God opened all the doors
1:10:56next day I prophesied to the prime
1:10:58minister of a country you know if God
1:11:00and God is giving these gifts not just
1:11:02healing at this level also prophecy at
1:11:05this level you know there are many
1:11:07people in the world you know who are
1:11:09involved in New Age healing mediumship
1:11:12all of those things and people associate
1:11:16these things with them they ought to
1:11:18associate the ministries of Power with
1:11:21the church when they think healing they
1:11:23should think the church when they think
1:11:26Liberation from demons they should think
1:11:28the church when they think prophecy and
1:11:30the knowledge of the destiny of man they
1:11:33should think the church they think of
1:11:36Prophecy they think the church this
1:11:38should be their automatic thought are
1:11:40you with me yes and so this book is to
1:11:42help people to realize that that Jesus
1:11:45has promised things to Believers the
1:11:47early church believed those promises and
1:11:50those promises were realized in the
1:11:51early church and in many times in the
1:11:54history of the church both with Priestly
1:11:57religious and lay people having
1:11:59incredible ministries of signs and
1:12:01wonders and God is restoring this in
1:12:04answer to the prayers of the popes in
1:12:07our generation how privileged are we and
1:12:10our job my job is like Joshua Joshua got
1:12:13into the land before the rest of the
1:12:15people I'm not saying I was the first in
1:12:17but Joshua got into the land before the
1:12:20others he saw what could be theirs and
1:12:23he came back and he said that is for all
1:12:25of us and the message of my life is to
1:12:28is to call God's people I don't feel
1:12:30called to establish Daman stain
1:12:32Ministries International no no no to
1:12:34raise the church to become herself to
1:12:38live a supernatural life which is a
1:12:40natural life for the baptized once
1:12:42you're baptized living supernaturally is
1:12:45now natural for you that's natural for
1:12:48you well and signs and wonders are and
1:12:50charisms are part of the supernatural
1:12:52inheritance that we have as Catholics
1:12:55Christians everyone should get a copy of
1:12:57this really learn it um thank you I mean
1:13:00congratulations on this I I'm excited
1:13:03that it's now available um at perum

1:13:07speak um we'll put links in in the
1:13:09bottom below and those around outside of

1:13:38teaching on lots of things there's lots
1:13:40of films of Miracle testimonies films of
1:13:45miraculous prophetic um Ministry um you
1:13:49know lots of things like that build your
1:13:50faith and also all our events are
1:13:52advertised on there so if you want to
1:13:54know what our events and we also have
1:13:55one of our houses runs so we're doing an
1:13:58International Event somewhere in the
1:14:00world every month we're doing uh an
1:14:02event in London every month and we're
1:14:05doing an international online event
1:14:07every month oh W and those have
1:14:09translation so not the Australians need
1:14:12translation but um so on the monthly
1:14:15events they're in English but there's
1:14:17usually at least two simultan languages
1:14:20where the simultaneous translation and
1:14:21we have people watching every month from
1:14:2320 countries at least
1:14:25sometimes 40 countries so if you know
1:14:27people in other countries they can also
1:14:29plug into that see which languages it's
1:14:30available in subscribe to the YouTube
1:14:32channel yeah subscribe and then they can
1:14:34find out what's going on praise God yeah
