Full transcript
- 0:06Hello and welcome to day 23 of
- 0:09Lifebook's 30-day challenge. So good to
- 0:11have you here with me today.
- 0:13Do you realize that you've thought more
- 0:15about your life during this program than
- 0:17most people will do in an entire
- 0:19lifetime?
- 0:20I really want to acknowledge you for
- 0:22doing this important life-changing work,
- 0:25even though it can be tough at times.
- 0:27I'm sure that you'll agree that the
- 0:29heavy lifting can feel good because
- 0:31that's the way we grow. It's the way
- 0:33that we break through barriers and make
- 0:35positive change in our lives.
- 0:38Well, I'm happy to announce that the
- 0:39heavy lifting's over and now comes the
- 0:42fun part and you've really earned it.
- 0:44We're going to talk about quality of
- 0:46life today.
- 0:49This category is about your happiness
- 0:51and your fulfillment. It's about living
- 0:54joyfully and fully every single day.
- 0:57Living a life of abundance. Having
- 1:00leisure time to enjoy with loved ones.
- 1:03It's about having fun.
- 1:05Having great stuff. Having good times
- 1:08and enjoying yourself. Now, as far as
- 1:11I'm concerned, quality of life is the
- 1:14key category of Lifebook cuz it's kind
- 1:17of where everything comes together. It's
- 1:19what everything adds up to. All the work
- 1:22that you've done so far. This is what
- 1:23it's all about.
- 1:25All the thinking, all the planning, all
- 1:28the visualization that we've done in
- 1:30every category is designed for one thing
- 1:34and one thing only, to improve your
- 1:36overall quality of life.
- 1:39This category is about the material
- 1:41things that you want,
- 1:43the experiences that you want to have in
- 1:45your life, and the environments that you
- 1:47want to be surrounded by every day.
- 1:50So, this is where you define the stuff
- 1:52that you want. If you're a car person,
- 1:54this is where your cars live. If you're
- 1:56a boat person, this is where you create
- 1:58and manifest that vision.
- 2:00This is where your dream house lives.
- 2:02It's where exotic travel and helicopter
- 2:04rides and white sand beaches live.
- 2:08This is where all the material rewards
- 2:10for doing this work can be found.
- 2:14Now, before we get too deep here, I want
- 2:16to address an issue that we've
- 2:17discovered at Lifebook really tends to
- 2:20hold some people back from creating
- 2:21success and fulfillment in this
- 2:23category.
- 2:25During the course of this 30-day
- 2:26challenge, you spend a lot of time
- 2:28thinking about you. Your health and
- 2:31fitness, what you want emotionally and
- 2:34intellectually, what kind of a person
- 2:36you want to become, what kind of
- 2:38relationships you want to have, how much
- 2:40money you want to make, what kind of a
- 2:42career you want to have. You, you, you,
- 2:44you. Sounds pretty selfish, right?
- 2:47Matter of fact, the whole Lifebook
- 2:48process seems a little selfish, doesn't
- 2:51it? I mean, this isn't missionary work
- 2:53here. All we've been doing from the very
- 2:55beginning of this program is thinking
- 2:57about ourselves.
- 2:59Well, some people have guilt about that.
- 3:02They have guilt about creating an
- 3:04extraordinary life for themselves, and
- 3:06I'll tell you something.
- 3:07Guilt is a quality of life killer.
- 3:11Now, personally,
- 3:13I believe that you have the right to
- 3:15enjoy this one life that you've been
- 3:18given.
- 3:19You have the right to live for your own
- 3:21sake.
- 3:22Matter of fact, I think the world would
- 3:24be a whole lot better place if we just
- 3:26gave ourselves permission to be the best
- 3:29people we could be, to put together the
- 3:31best quality of life that we could
- 3:32possibly create for ourselves, to create
- 3:35the most wealth, to have the best
- 3:37possible time while we're here. I mean,
- 3:40I believe in fulfillment. I believe in
- 3:42self-actualization.
- 3:44I also believe in kindness and in
- 3:47contribution.
- 3:49And in benevolence and charity, can't
- 3:51have a decent world without those
- 3:53things.
- 3:55But I also don't think that you need to
- 3:56justify your existence as a human being
- 3:59in terms of helping others. I think it's
- 4:01perfectly valid to work hard on your own
- 4:04life. As a matter of fact, I think that
- 4:07we have a moral duty to do that.
- 4:10But you may be the kind of a person that
- 4:13has feelings of guilt about taking so
- 4:15much time to work on nothing but you,
- 4:18you, you.
- 4:20And if you are, and if you don't handle
- 4:22those beliefs,
- 4:23you probably won't really ever create an
- 4:26extraordinary life for yourself. You may
- 4:28believe that it's selfish to spend so
- 4:30much time on yourself when there are
- 4:33others that really need your help.
- 4:35Fair enough, I totally get that. But
- 4:38here's my advice.
- 4:40Please place your own oxygen mask firmly
- 4:44on your own mouth and nose before
- 4:46attempting to help the people around
- 4:48you.
- 4:49You can't give away what you don't have.
- 4:51You can't help anyone if your own life
- 4:54isn't working.
- 4:56So if your thing is contribution, I
- 4:58promise you this. Working on yourself,
- 5:02it's exactly what's going to allow you
- 5:04to contribute at a very, very high
- 5:06level.
- 5:07Being the best you can possibly be will
- 5:10allow you to do more and more and more
- 5:12for others. Now, on the other hand,
- 5:15holding yourself back and making
- 5:17yourself small isn't going to serve
- 5:20anyone.
- 5:22So as we begin to explore this category,
- 5:24you might want to really ask yourself
- 5:26whether or not you have any guilt
- 5:28surrounding having a great life, making
- 5:31money, having a fulfilling career, great
- 5:34relationships, having great things and
- 5:37experiences.
- 5:39Is it going to be difficult for you
- 5:40psychologically to become the best
- 5:42person you can possibly be and make
- 5:44yourself 12 categories smart?
- 5:47Because the fact of the matter is this,
- 5:49if you continue with Lifebook, over time
- 5:52you will begin to outshine just about
- 5:54everyone you know. That's what happens.
- 5:56That's what Lifebook does.
- 5:58Is that okay with you? I certainly hope
- 6:01it is. And if it's not, this is where we
- 6:03deal with it. This is where it's going
- 6:05to come up in the quality of life
- 6:08category.
- 6:09I'd like to share a clip from the
- 6:11classic Lifebook program now, which
- 6:13outlines my purpose for this fascinating
- 6:16category. Take a look.
- 6:41My first car cost 300 bucks, and it had
- 6:44a big hole rusted through the floor on
- 6:46the driver's side. I could see the road
- 6:48going by under my feet like Fred
- 6:50Flintstone.
- 6:51Now, don't get me wrong. This was my
- 6:53most cherished possession.
- 6:55But my point is this, I can tell you
- 6:57from personal experience, it's better to
- 6:59have a car that starts in the winter
- 7:01than one that doesn't.
- 7:03You don't need a Ferrari to survive, but
- 7:05a nice car is better than one that
- 7:07doesn't start.
- 7:09A nice house is better than living in a
- 7:11broken-down old shack. Nice things make
- 7:14life better and easier and more
- 7:17enjoyable.
- 7:19Surrounding yourself with nice things is
- 7:21a privilege. Throughout the vast
- 7:23majority of human history, it wasn't
- 7:25even possible.
- 7:26We're so fortunate that we live in a
- 7:28time and a place where we can do that.
- 7:30If you manage your life well, you really
- 7:33do have the opportunity to create a life
- 7:36of luxury if you want to.
- 7:39My reason for wanting the best possible
- 7:42quality of life is tied to my purpose in
- 7:45life, which I've already shared with
- 7:46you.
- 7:47It's to create the best possible quality
- 7:49of life that I can for myself and for
- 7:52the people I love
- 7:54and to help others around me do the
- 7:55same.
- 7:57I want to really enjoy my short time on
- 8:00this planet as much as I possibly can.
- 8:04Life goes by like that. It's a flash.
- 8:07I want to enjoy every day in all 12
- 8:10categories.
- 8:11The better my quality of life, the more
- 8:14I'm going to be able to contribute to
- 8:16others and to the world. And more
- 8:18contribution means creating more value
- 8:20for others, which will in turn create
- 8:23more financial abundance for me and
- 8:26allow me to increase my quality of life
- 8:28even more. It's just a big positive
- 8:30spiral.
- 8:33Surrounding yourself with wonderful
- 8:35things and creating fantastic
- 8:37experiences in your life,
- 8:40it's not only fun and enjoyable, it can
- 8:42literally change your life and improve
- 8:45you as a human being. It can take you to
- 8:47the next level as a person.
- 8:51Here are a couple of examples.
- 8:53Miss and I have built our dream home and
- 8:56it changed our lives. It changed us as
- 8:59people.
- 9:00Like most people in industrialized
- 9:02countries, we spend 90% of our time
- 9:04indoors. So, we looked at our home as
- 9:07part of our health plan
- 9:09and investment in our physical,
- 9:11intellectual, emotional, and spiritual
- 9:14well-being.
- 9:16Our lives can be very busy and they can
- 9:18be stressful sometimes. So, we wanted to
- 9:21create an environment that would care
- 9:22for us and revive us and allow us to
- 9:26recover from the demands of the day.
- 9:28Our goal was to completely banish stress
- 9:31and chaos from our living environment
- 9:33and create a calm, relaxing, peaceful
- 9:36atmosphere for ourselves and for our
- 9:39children.
- 9:40And that's what we did. And I'll share
- 9:42how we did that in the strategy section.
- 9:47Our home is a sedate, peaceful, calm,
- 9:51beautiful environment.
- 9:54Spending time in our home is a really
- 9:56wonderful experience. We're literally
- 9:58surrounded by tranquility and
- 10:00peacefulness and beauty every day of our
- 10:03lives.
- 10:05Our home is a certifiable healing
- 10:07environment with 24-hour health
- 10:09benefits. It will really allow us to
- 10:12enjoy our years more
- 10:14and to enjoy more years together.
- 10:18This home has changed the way we live.
- 10:20It's made us healthier and it's made us
- 10:22happier.
- 10:24That's an example of how a thing can
- 10:27change your life.
- 10:32Experiences can also change your life.
- 10:35As you already know, Missy and I are
- 10:37travelers. We've been to over 50
- 10:39countries together on six continents and
- 10:42this has changed who we are as people.
- 10:46It's difficult to communicate exactly
- 10:47how much this has added to our lives,
- 10:49but I'll just say that travel is by far
- 10:52the most important way we educate
- 10:54ourselves. It's made us so much smarter.
- 10:58It's blown our minds wide open and
- 11:00seriously expanded our understanding of
- 11:04what life on Earth is all about, of what
- 11:06it means to be a human being.
- 11:08It's given us an incredible appreciation
- 11:11for the country we live in and for what
- 11:13we have.
- 11:15It's brought us so much closer together.
- 11:17It's one of the reasons that we have the
- 11:19great relationship that we have. We've
- 11:21experienced so much joy and so much fun
- 11:24and so much adventure together, so much
- 11:26richness of life.
- 11:29Standing at the base of the Great
- 11:31Pyramid in Giza,
- 11:33walking hand in hand through the Witch
- 11:34Market in Bolivia, or the night markets
- 11:37in Kuala Lumpur,
- 11:38spending time in a Maasai village in
- 11:40Central Africa,
- 11:42I'll tell you, Missy and I look at each
- 11:44other over dinner, and we say, "We've
- 11:47really lived this life. We're really
- 11:49experiencing it."
- 11:51We've known what it's like to be alive
- 11:54on this planet, and to experience the
- 11:56whole world with someone we love.
- 12:01Quality things and quality experiences
- 12:05will make you smarter,
- 12:06they'll make you better, and they'll
- 12:08make you happier.
- 12:10They're an investment in you.
- 12:12They make you more interesting and more
- 12:14knowledgeable as a person.
- 12:17They can help you become more
- 12:18successful. They can attract more of the
- 12:20things and the people that you want in
- 12:22your life.
- 12:24How's that for a purpose for this
- 12:26category?
- 12:27Things and experiences aren't just nice
- 12:29to have, they can change your life.
- 12:32They can lead to deeply rewarding
- 12:34spiritual and emotional breakthroughs.
- 12:38They can enhance your life in amazing
- 12:40ways.
- 12:47My life book started out as a page of
- 12:50goals.
- 12:51Over the years, I continually thought
- 12:53about what I wanted and why, and what I
- 12:56needed to do to manifest my vision. And
- 12:59that life book just kept growing and
- 13:01growing and growing.
- 13:02The categories evolved over the years
- 13:05based on what I was working on in my own
- 13:08life.
- 13:09I never showed my life book to anyone
- 13:11except for Missy. It wasn't that it was
- 13:13a secret, it's just that I never really
- 13:14thought about showing it to anyone else.
- 13:17This This was simply my tool, my
- 13:18personal tool, to keep my own life
- 13:21organized, and to keep it moving forward
- 13:23in the direction that I wanted. Why
- 13:24would anyone else want to see it?
- 13:26I wasn't thinking about helping anyone.
- 13:28I was thinking about me. I was thinking
- 13:30about how to make my life better.
- 13:33That's how it all began, me working on
- 13:36me.
- 13:37That's what led to you doing this 30-day
- 13:40challenge right now.
- 13:42Lifebook is out there changing lives on
- 13:44a massive scale in the world, but guess
- 13:47what? I had to change my own life first.
- 13:50Had I not selfishly focused so much
- 13:53attention on my own life, I wouldn't be
- 13:55here right now, and neither would you.
- 13:58Like I said before, I believe that each
- 14:01of us is an end in ourselves. We have
- 14:04the right to exist for our own sake.
- 14:07Our happiness, our fulfillment are
- 14:10important for their own sake.
- 14:12But I also believe that the very best
- 14:16thing you can do for the world and for
- 14:18others is to work on yourself, to make
- 14:22yourself the best you you can be, to
- 14:25make your life the best it can possibly
- 14:28be, and then you'll really have
- 14:29something to bring to the party. You
- 14:30know, you'll have something to share
- 14:32with others, and you'll have something
- 14:33to contribute to the world that helps
- 14:35people.
- 14:37So, take a moment now to write in your
- 14:40journal any thoughts that you might have
- 14:42on your quality of life and what it
- 14:44means to you.
- 14:46I want to really thank you for being
- 14:48here with me today, and I'll look
- 14:50forward to seeing you tomorrow when
- 14:51we'll explore this wonderful,
- 14:53fascinating category even more deeply.
- 14:56See you tomorrow.
